From check in until check out we really enjoyed our stay at the UDS. This was our last stop on our trip to Kerala. Every member of staff from the porters up to the management were so friendly and respectful. We liked our room which had everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing stay. The access to the beach was great and contrary to what other reviewers have written, the beach is great and you can swim in the sea. The local shops and restaurants are great and everybody is so friendly. Such a difference to the other side of Kovalam on Lighthouse Beach where everything is just too much! I almost don't want to write this review, as we may not get a room when we next visit Kovalam, but feel it is so worthy. We have been visiting Kovalam for six years but have never stayed at the UDS before. We will definitely stay there again and would recommend it. We feel it offers very good value for money and far outweighs any of the other hotels in the same category. Keep it up UDS, we will most definitely be back. Thank you. John and Debbie H (London).

We live in Delhi and spent 3 nights at Turtle On The Beach for holidays. This hotel offers best scenery in Kovalam Beach area (except Leela which is located slightly away from Kovalam Beach). Please have a try climbing up at Sky Suite for the best view. The hotel is not located ‘on the beach’ but in a walking distance from the beach. The only thing you need to consider is a steep slope which you need to climb up when coming back to the hotel. The staffs are super friendly and are ready to offer any support. At the time of our visit, we were offered to take better rooms instead of the lower grade room which we booked. This may not be expected every time however, the readiness to offer the best service feels so nice, especially if you are a visitor from other major cities in India. The hospitality of this hotel is definitely better than those ‘Luxurious’ and ‘Gorgeous’ 5 star hotels. Besides, surfing at Lighthouse Beach is FUN!

I had to cancel the booking that I booked first. The cancellation was done on the date of checkin and according to their rules, they do not need to provide me a refund or postponement. It was a surprise that they extended us the booking for a later date on my request and it was done a month afterwards. Really I didnt expect that from a hotel in Kerala and they outper...

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was exceptionally professional and courteous. Some of the continental and north indian food items in their in-house restaurant were truly exceptional and probably the best I have had in any Kerala hotel. My only grouse was with the bed linen which smelt good but looked tired and used. The bed linen needs to be properly bleached and starched more often. But generally speaking, we had an awesome stay! And a special congrats to the Hotel owners/Management for selecting and designing such a unique resort!

We reached this calm and quite Vaythiri Village Resort on last Sunday morning after a whirlwind drive of 300km from buzzing city like Bangalore . As soon as we crossed that big wooden gate of that resort , we simply landed into the lap of luxury in the midst of jungle . Staffs are very courteous and the facilities are really value for your hard earned money .Quality and the wide variety of food will tempt your test buds .For Photography enthusiast it's a perfect place to explore and take some rare pictures of Giant Squirrel , green frog, green chameleon lizard etc . We spend 2 nights and 3 days in this property and my 5.5yrs old daughter enjoyed a lot in the swimming pool , Play rooms and other open green areas . We stayed in Delux room which gave a really cosy feeling altogether .They maintain the cleanliness through out their property which is really a good thing. As a family man , I would suggest this Resort to others as well , to enjoy the beauty of Waynad and obviously the state Kerala .

The resort and staff were wonderful - grounds and pool were immaculately maintained. The welcome was very warm and genuine and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the private plunge pool of the private villa. Views and main pool were stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed the music played during dinner. We were lucky to get the table with the best view of the pool and lake.The fish curry and kerala parota were delicious - thank you for the assistance with selecting items from the menu. The hostesses helped us book a village tour for the afternoon, adjusting the time to meet our itinerary and took care of all our bags when we arrived too early to check in. Their warm smiles and genuine concern for our comfort were one of many highlights of our trip. Have recommended highly to friends and family and would definitely stay here again.

Through an excellent deal with Agoda I finished 2 weeks of travelling around Kerala at The Hycinth. I primarily booked this hotel because I wanted some luxury and to swim in their pool. On arrival I was told the pool was closed. Very frustrating. Overall this is a good hotel, very clean, excellent breakfast and spacious and very comfortable bedrooms. The highlight was the multiple interactions I had with the incredibly helpful, kind and happy reception staff member called Adya. She was wonderful. As was the restaurant manager. However many of the rest of the staff struggle to understand English and at times were quite rude. Saying please and thank you and listening to the customer is key to good customer service. There is room for improvement in this hotel however much of it is excellent and I would definitely stay here again.

Complementary Early Check-in/out, Welcome drink(fruit juice), Sweets snacks(Indians sweet one), Their service was excellent and it was so warmful. It's not like 5 star hotel, however very At-Home style Indian hotel and I prefer here than Gorgeous Luxury 5 stars resort hotel. One of our group said that Breakfast Buffet was more tasty and staff's hospitality was better than Taj's one... Room is not so special, but clean. Location is a lil bit hill side hence it was like exercise to walk from the beach for me. Although I didn't try Ayurveda at this time but it is reasonable & friendly price, Expert Dr. is always in the hotel... I want to try it next time!!! Anyway totally it worth of staying!!

Great modern property, clean , in the middle of Kerala Munnar hills. Perfect place to get away and unwind.

Their are few places which comes with the right blend of modern amenities , best of service with a genuine smile all around. This is the place where it will make you think you under payed for the services you received. Let me explain why I think it is exemplary service. As soon as we entered the premises, they welcomed with a Garland, gave wet towel, with welcome drink . It was my wife birthday and due to busy travel schedule I couldn't arrange anything to celebrate her birthday. Once I checked in I asked for a cake in the restaurant, they were kind enough to take the request and gave me the cake as complimentary and made it has a surprise for my wife, they were part of our small celebration and money can't buy these small happinesses :-), it is next to beach however it was already late in the night and my wife wanted to see the sea in the night, security told that it is not safe however the obliged my request and escorted us to the sea shore , morning we attended the yoga session as well which was refreshing, morning troll on sea shore will be the best thing to do in the morning, it has one of the cleanest beaches in India. The rooms are very spacious and designed by US architect,which shows up in every detailing. Best part is that even though it has lot of outdoor space, all the spaces are isolated. One of the unique thing is that the bathroom is outdoor which let you explore taking bath in outdoor keeps ng your privacy intact, try it , you won't be dissappointed. Breakfast had a very good spread and meets both Western and Indian requirements. Swimming pool is next to restaurant and swimming pool has depth up to 4 feet, Children friendly pool. They have a orchid garden , butterfly garden and a very big farm where they grow vegetables as well. It a huge property and plenty to explore. Apollo Dimora Thiruvananthapuram This is a lovely hotel, quite modern with clean, comfortable rooms that are quiet at night. A rooftop pool that is clean and inviting with staff that are friendly and helpful. We stayed here for 3 nights to sight-see and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Across the road from the railway station and the famous Indian Coffee House which is a cylindrical building built in 1970 serving tasty inexpensive local cuisine that is a must visit. This hotel is in a fantastic location next to the bus stop and great Kerala-style street food serving chapati, parotha, naan breads and vegetarian foods. Also non-veg too. We're from Australia and would recommend it highly for travellers on a reasonable budget who like the little luxuries like a rooftop pool. After the heat of the day a trip upstairs to cool off is just lovely. We didn’t eat in the hotel so cannot comment on that, sorry. This is a great value hotel in a wonderful handy location.

The stay was very pleasant. Our reservation was handled well and we had a very smooth check in. The Heritage Villa with the private swimming pool had been very convenient and our young kids had lots of fun. They were kept busy by the hotel team with the pot making and mat weaving activities. Other games and fishing opportunity were delightful for the kids. The tea at Thattukada is one that should not be missed. We had been privileged to have a great view of the sunset during the evening cruise although it was the monsoon season in Kerala. The food at Ettukettu and the cultural program along with it is very interesting. Overall, we had a great time and returned with a refreshed body and mind. The stay was very relaxful and our kids insisted to return back to the resort some time soon.

My husband and I wanted to have a nicer hotel for a few nights while in Kerala. We chose the Ramada and were not disappointed. The pool is lovely and overlooks the river. The staff were always helpful and friendly. We even were able to order beer at the pool bar! The resort is lovely and has all these interconnected roofed pathways to the restaurants. The food at the Pearl is delicious (pricey, but delicious and well-prepared seafood). The buffet breakfast was VERY good. We felt like after we got to see inner city India, we were able to escape for a more 'honeymoon' feel while at the Ramada. A must!

For my first time in India I couldn't ask for friendlier helpful staff. A small hotel that makes you feel welcome and apart of the experience in India. We were about to get the culture and currency easily in the pleasant providence of Kerala. Just beautiful.

lemon tree is just a lovely old charming hotel, with its location so beautiful, so memorable, we cannot wait to go back. we were upgraded on check in to a bigger room which looked out over the lake and onto their private housboat. the restaurant provided some of the most exquisite keralan dishes we have ever eaten...at prices beyond reasonable.the houseboat experience again was amazing. the 2 boat drivers and the chef made our second night so so special! the boat itself is beautifully appointed with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. upper and lower decks, all providing spectacular views of lake vembanad and the kerala backwaters. a very emotional experience!

This is one of the best value for money property I have visited in recent times. The location is too good and the staff is very courteous. We took buffet dinner and breakfast and the food was amazing ! Finding too scrumptious Dal Makhani in Kerala... is it true ??? Yes, it is true in Raviz. The ghazals during dinner was music to ears. Had a great time in their big pool...

Marari Beach is a lovely resort, the cottages are superb, and the whole place is wonderfully peaceful, especially the butterfly and vegetable gardens. BUT, and this is a big 'but', at the time of our visit there was a ban on the hotel serving any kind of alcohol. This was not their fault - Kerala had had some weird alcohol policies such as it was OK for Kochi hotels to serve alcohol as they were within a municipality, but other hotels within 500m of a road could not. Marari Beach compensated by arranging to buy alcohol for you (a max of 3L beer or 3L wine) from a registered government outlet and you were permitted to drink it in your own cottage, but any social aspect of drinking around a bar after dinner, meeting other guests etc. just didn't happen. On our last day there (18 March) the ban was lifted for beer and wine only (no spirits or cocktails) and I don't know what the situation is now. If you like a beer of a glass of wine, CHECK THIS OUT BEFORE YOU TRAVEL!

We had a one night stay at this hotel, during our travel to malaysia from kochin. Even though we just booked it on an opinion by a friend, we were quite impressed at the hotel facilities and hotel employees. The room were pretty good and since the hotel is new.. everything was wonderful. the rooms were spacious with balconies and the hotel location itself was in a highway and easy access. the employees were very helpful and check in and check out were smooth. the night we stayed the hotel was pretty booked completely, but still it was well organized and all requests were well handled. The only issues was the breakfast, which was not upto mark. the swimming pool was good, but could have been a bit more clearer water.. neverthless we had a wonderful time and pleasant stay at this hotel.

The hotel was lovely, and easy to find. Very comfortable and the views were exceptional. All the staff - front desk and waiters in the restaurant especially - were incredibly attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. The staff on the front desk helped me plan a day of sightseeing and had no problems with me leaving my luggage there for a full day, even dropping me at the station to catch the night bus. Food was great and very reasonable priced. Overall a very comfortable but short stay in a beautiful part of Kerala. The hotel will be perfect once the pool and ayurvedic centre opens and I wish them the best with the official opening later in the year.

My wife and I spent three nights in February 2017 at this absolutely lovely boutique resort. To make a long story short, here are some of the things we liked about the place: 1. The staff is superb. Before our arrival, we had not set up anything in terms of visiting the nearby wildlife reserve. In short order, the staff arranged a trek and boat ride, as well as transportation to and from the reserve and our onward transportation to our next stop in Kerala. And they were very helpful in so many other ways I don't have time to list. Saji (I hope I'm spelling his name right) was the fellow who stood out most for us. But the resort manager, the food manager and all others were great as well. 2. The view from the room was really something special. I'm usually one for panoramic views, which you don't get here. BUT instead we had a unique view of a beautiful forest on a hillside a few hundred feet away. 3. The sounds of the birds complemented the view wonderfully. Especially in the morning and late afternoon, they were a symphony of natural music. 4. The room was fairly large and fine, with a comfortable bed, a couple of nice chairs, air conditioning and a fan that worked well, and with a great sunken tub in the bathroom that my wife loved, as well as a very nice rain shower. 5. Tasty food in the restaurant, including a nice masala dosa (which you might have ask for if you're not from India, as the staff might assume you don't want it) for breakfast, as well as great omelettes with mozarella cheese and various fruits. Room service was very competent as well. 6. It's on a working cardoman/pepper plantation. You can get a one-hour tour of these and other plants, walking through the aforementioned hillside. 7. There are far more staff than rooms - only five of the latter, all nicely separated from each other in different buildings (except 104 and 105, which are on top of each other). 102 and 103 are the best in terms of privacy, though all are fine. We had an amazing stay at the Ramada Hotel. This was our 1st trip to Kerala and the environment at the hotel made us very comfortable and like home. My wife and myself spent my 80th birthday at the Vythiri Windflower Resort. We enjoyed our stay immensely and wished if we could have doubled our stay. May be we will visit again. The rooms were maintained very well as also the hospitality and helpfulness of each and every person at the resort. They prepared items of our choice. I wish the Resort arranges for training the service staff to speak in English as we found that they were more comfortable with local language Malayalam. All the best. Unfortunately due to recent heavy rains in Kerala the approach Road to the Resort is badly damaged. I would therefore suggest that the Resort arranges to incorporate the better approach which is available with directions on their website.

We had originally planned to stay2nights but ended up spending 3nights due to Kerala state strike on Jan 27. The hotel accomdated us on a short notice. The manager on duty went above and beyond his call of duty to get us 2 tickets for the Periyar lake cruise.

I was searching for the perfect retreat in India and have found it in the Kerala, the famed southern state of India. The Beach Garden is amazing, the restaurant on the same private beach serves superb food prepared by chef Prakash. The place is not too big and the service is personalized. There are standard rooms as well as beautiful villas that are directly facing the...

I only stayed one night, and I loved it! A delightful room with surprisingly good bathroom and confort level. Everything in the hotel was immaculate. The peace of the garden and pool area were just what I wanted and needed. The pool was clean and water felt almost body temperature on this hot April day. Perfect. Staff were attentive and helpful, obliged me by making a drink not on their menu, yet readily available most everywhere else in Forr Kochi so I suggested they add it to theirs. It’s a pity the consumption of chilled soda drinks has become so prevalent in India these days! Food was tasty and freshly prepared. A very limited Vegetarian selection though, only 4 choices on the menu which surprises me too. But Kerala seems to be less Vegetarian oriented than the rest of India. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here, and would love to return one day.

This was our honeymoon and we went during the month of June 2013. The best part of the resort is the entry through the back waters and the warm reception. The room which we stayed was the heritage mansiona nd it was truely done in a very detailed way keeping in mind the old tharavadus of kerala. The lighting and the extensive use of the wood add to the ambience. Another attraction we really enjoyed was the open bathroom which was attached to the property. That is a really great addition to this wonderful property. Since the room is not with a TV you are forced to stay outside during the daytime and let me say that, it was great to explore the property. There was absolutely no noise and it was hard to hear the honks once we were coming out after the vacation. The concept of not using plastic any where in the propert was really great. For me this was a really great vacation and looking forward to visit there onece more soon.

After cheap and cheerful guesthouses as we travelled through north India we decided to treat ourselves for the final few days in Kerala at Brunton Boatyard and were highly impressed with the hotel. The rooms were so comfortable especially the beds and had amazing views from our balconies from the bedroom and bathroom. The breakfast each morning was delicious (vast array of items to choose from, particularly loved the fresh juices, warm banana bread and the eggs benedict) and the one evening we had dinner there was nice. I have nothing but praise for all the staff that we encountered during our stay (friendly and extremely helpful). Would highly recc staying at Brunton Boatyard.

Cheap places to stay in Kerala

we spent some christmas days here and really appreciated the almost completely empty white beach. great that we could borrow beachmaths and umbrella. nothing to do is good for relaxation. it was nice just to sit outside or hang in the garden and watch daily life. we did walk the 2 km (there are rickshaws) to the little village of maraikulam where we found the tiny post office and some fruits and small things to buy for lunch. you have to be prepared that food is only to be found at sight, it was good but both lunch and dinner was to much for us. we had a great christmas dinner together with the other guests. thank you mr raju with family for that! what we don't understand is why the pictures on the sight is so old and not showing how nice it is today! there is also wi-fi in public areas which was a nice surprise!

I stayed at Rampart homestay for one night only, it's super comfy, the hostel is very clean and tidy, staff is friendly and nice. Can't ask for more for this cheap price. its very valuable.

I stayed for 2 nights in dormitory room. Ram was good in person, but not a good host. He helps poor people, feed them every day and wants to share that experience with his guests. And he likes having a deep talk with guests about the essence of life. I was ok with that. He is somewhat like a philosopher. I feel sorry to leave negative comments about the room. But to be honest, bedsheets were quite musty, and there were many ants, spiders, flies, mosquitos staying with me. Still I thought it’s not a huge problem considering the price, until encountering a big cockroach in the bathroom second night. I was in panic and called him, he came and said it is fine because it will never bite me...And said there are many ants, flies, spiders in this room but they don’t hurt me...Yeah I realized that he doesn’t take it as a problem. And i was not a philosopher, so couldn’t think of them like him. Anyway he suggested me moving to another room, but I rather decided to stay up and leave early in the morning because I was so afraid of meeting another cockroach there. Plus, he seemed unhappy of me paying agoda price. And plus, I met another cockroach in the morning. I’m sure you will find better place in similar budget.

If you want to enjoy the beach and locals in a quiet, secluded place, you have to be here. Funky Art Beach House has affordable and clean rooms. Sagar is a cool host (you will notice his sense of humor when you ask for the password for WiFi ...). He gave me good advice for restaurants where you can eat local dishes.

First, the bad! Just to mention that there is no hot water in this whole hostel. Zero. Nothing. NADA. When a place mentions it has a shower then I'm expecting "some" hot water or even tepid. If we had known this we would have stayed elsewhere for the 5 nights. They did have a kitchen with a kettle BUT it's the first place we've stayed in India where they don't have a bucket in the bathroom. So we couldn't even take an Indian style bucket shower using hot water from the kettle. The sheets were also really dirty. The worst stains of any of our beds in our 4 months trip. I peeped at the pillow under the pillow cover but dared not look any further, it was really bad. It's been open 4 months so what will it be like in another 4 years. Please get some clean bedding or use a different method of washing. On the positive side, it's handily placed for the beach and amenities. The staff were friendly enough. And the place has a relaxed feel to it. But no,I would not stay again or recommend.

While away from the actual Munnar town, this place was a good choice for us. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and modern. The view from the balcony was really great. The breakfast was delicious, and the owner was very helpful. He organized us a tuk tuk to take us around two days in a row, and the driver was really brilliant. We saw everything we wanted to see and more. The small town adjacent to the residency does have a really nice restaurant we tried, and we also saw others. Just ask for recommendations at the guest house. Overall, this was a satisfying stay.

This lodge is located in the center of Ernakulam in Kochi. The major positive thing here is the owner of the place. He is probably the most kind man I ever met in a hotel/hostel before. He gave me tea and water on arrival, and some cookies. And insisted on helping me with getting around in the area and Kerala in general. He made tea for me in the morning and booked a cheap cab for me to the bus station. Thank you so much for your kindness and good help. Highly appreciated. The rooms are good for the money you pay. I would come back any time.

I booked Lost Hostel for 2 days and ended up staying for 14. The place is a great location, a 5 minute walk to enjoy Varkala Cliff/Beach. Goodwin, the manager, is extremely friendly and helpful. He would always pass through the common areas and converse with you and make sure you're having a good time. The rest of the staff was also pleasant; just a joy to be around. This location is huge, too. It has 3 different buildings and it seemed there was always something going on, sometimes in all the areas - jam sessions, family dinner, yoga classes, bon fires, card games, movie night, beach trips, etc. There was always something going on. One day Goodwin planned a scooter trip to Munroe Bay for a group of us, and another night he planned a trip to go watch Joker in theaters. Both were excellent as I've been traveling for ~8 months and I'm just tired of planning. The only thing that could be improved is the WiFi goes out every once in a while, but that's hardly noticed when you're having so much fun hanging out with the other hostel guests! Great Experience!

Could not arrange 2 buckets of hot water to take bath for both days Drinking water was given after escalation. Note: As per Agoda they have Check-in from: 12:00 AM, Check-in until: 09:00 PM, Check-out until: 08:00 PM My booking was for 21st check in & 22nd check out, according to their limits I need to pay for only 1 day as my checkin was 3 am on 21st which is after 12 am and check out was at 11 am on 22nd which is before 8 pm. But Host asked us to pay Rs.800 or vacate by 2 am i.e. 24 hours of check in (This is neither pros or cons but just a clarification for other guest to understand their checkin/checkout policy)

I arrived quite late on a Saturday night. I was greeted by a group of men, which was a little intimidating as a female traveller, however, all of these guys are friends of the owner and they were completely respectful and friendly, so plenty of company if you need. I also arrived not feeling well and the owner helped me out by picking me up some stomach tablets at the pharmacy. He's made travel arrangements, booked tours, and extended my stay with ease and all for great prices! Highly recommend. There were two beds, both relatively firm and comfy, pillows were good too. Kitchen is shared and has what you need to prepare a proper meal. Only complaint, the bathroom faucet seems to turn on magically, takes effort to turn off completely and when I return it's dripping?

My parents travelled to Alleppey in the beginning of February and stayed at Thoms Beach homestay. The location of this homestay is very convenient as it's hardly few minutes from Vijay beach and close to the market place. Mrs. and Mr. Thomas treated them as family and helped in every possible way. They even helped with a suitable itinerary for their stay in Alleppey. Mr. Thomas picked my parents up and dropped them off at the railway station on the day of their arrival and departure. He arranged a houseboat cruise and gave them a lift to the houseboat boarding point. The breakfast that was served was healthy and tasty at the same time. It was a wonderful experience and we would recommend all to visit this homestay and enjoy Alleppey.

Being a solo backpacker, my requirement in bed & bath. This place is extraordinary hostel and provides you everything. Please note this place is just 8 months old so it is very new & growing tremendously in terms of quality service. Hostel by sea is in the prime location of Fort Kochi. The property is owned by Cultural Dept - State Govt of Kerala. The bus station located at the right, auto rickshaws rides are available at the gate and cross the road for leisure boat ride & cross island ferry service. The beach and Chinese fishing nets are just a walk away. Every single ship that enters the Kochi port pass through this strait. To the left you will find authentic yummy traditional food. Every single attractions are just a walk apart. Visit: Jew Town, Dutch Palace, Biennale & etc. Facilities: The hostel is well equipped with essential amenities, breakfast will be served upon request (made on previous day). Had an amazing holiday at Lake Canopy. The resort is relatively new, but has excellent services, and exceptionally good staff. Rooms are very spacious, well designed, and maintained. Restaurant is decent, in terms of both, the selection and food quality. But what really stands out at Canopy, is the staff. Rarely have I seen, such high standards of care, hospitality, and professionalism, in even top star hotels these days. Members of staff, especially Mr. Amith Kumar from the front desk guest relations team, and Ms. Ramya from the F&B team provided us exceptional service. The warmth in their interactions, not only with us, but other guests around, was a refreshing change. The balance between providing great hospitality, and yet, not broaching into privacy, was perfect. To quote my mother, “It appeared as if one was holidaying in one’s own vacation home, with every staff member taking care of you, like your own family would.” It was certainly the high note of our ten day Kerala trip.

We were a traveling family of 4 and stayed in the Museum Room. We had a huge, comfy bed and the kids had a large bed in a loft upstairs. The museum was out front of our room and the kids loved it. Also, the restaurant was just steps away. The food was also phenomenal and the most creative menu we saw in the whole area. Best hotel, best value...highly recommend!

I stayed at this place for a week. Intention was to completely relax. The location is right over the beach. The property has very tastefully designed and maintained independent cottages. Beautiful gardens with colourful Orchids, Hibiscus, Lotus and other plats dot the entire area. The theme is Eco friendliness. It is visible all around. Couldn’t spot any usage of plastic in the property. The staff is extremely professional. Infinity pool and wide open spaces add to the wonderful ambience. The beach is like a private one as there is no tourist activity in the area. Access to the beach is a little difficult though. I suggested to them to position few beach chairs closer to the beach. Hope they have done it now. A bit on the expensive side hence rated 4 stars on that. Overall I would rate it a five star experience. Highly recommended for a peaceful rejuvenating break from high speed life.

We stayed at this resort for 2 nights staring Dec 1st, 2016. The resort is located on Lake Vemband, near the south-west corner. One has to drive through a very narrow village road to reach the resort. It is a beautiful resort with a very traditional Kerala look. All rooms are on the ground level and the resort is fairly spread out. The rooms have a rustic village like look and the furniture are typical of the region, a lot of wood and cane. The rooms have all the amenities including air-conditioning, mini fridge, TV and safe. The Wi-Fi is complimentary and allows any number of devices. We had a lot of problems with the Wi-Fi connection. My wife called the front desk twice, during our stay, and as much as she was told help would be arriving, no one cared show up. There is one restaurant on the property that is used to serve all the meals. The hotel arranges a few activities for the guests, on a complimentary basis. For one hour in the evening, tea/coffee with some snacks are served on the lake front. There is also a one-hour complimentary boat ride though back-waters, from 5:30 pm The breakfast spread is acceptable but not adequate. Some of the selections were running out and replenishment was slow. Also, one lady was unable to understand our requests, in English. Twice we asked for earl gray tea (just light liquor) and both times we were given normal Indian tea with milk and sugar. My wife ordered an omelet which had a strand of hair, in it. This turned us of quite a bit. We had dinner at restaurant the both evenings. The menu offers a wide selection of dishes, and we enjoyed our selection. However, the resort only has a beer/wine license. As cocktail people, we were disappointed. Our checkout process was not pleasant, at all. We were told the computer software was having some trouble. We waited patiently for about 10 mins. Given that we had a tight schedule, I asked the front desk to send the bill (just two dinner payments) to my email, and

Lovely helpful staff, beautiful rooms and good meals. One member of staff in the restaurant even started his shift early to make sure we had a pack- up breakfast as we were going on a day trip. . It was so nice to have live musicians playing in the evenings. They were all very talented, We loved the location, right on the lake but also with really nice walks along quiet streets right from the door. There was a small problem with electrics( which is typical of most hotels in India where we have stayed) but this was fixed quickly. They have all done a magnificent job after the severe flooding in Kerala and all tourists should be assured everything is running well and roads are fine.

We are a group of 6 families and went to Munnar for summar holidays and stayed at broad bean resort for 3 nights. It is one of the best properties I have ever stayed in. It started with a little misunderstanding, but they really made up for it in the next 3 days and it was not really their fault, but the problem was with our bus driver.The approach road to the resort is not very wide (which is normal in any hill station). We went by a 26 seater bus and on the arrival day we reached after dark, so the bus driver was not willing to drive down the narrow approach road even after the hotel staff tried to convince him. So, they sent 2 cars to take us and our luggage to the resort. Also, they promised to keep 2 cars at disposal for us, in case the driver is not able to get the bus in the resort parking lot. Next day, during daylight, the driver could get the bus in the resort parking lot and from that time onward, there was no problem whatsoever. The hotel staff are really very nice, well-ma

The location is awesome , completely surrounded by trees and its looks like it is inside the forest , I was listening the different different types of birds voices , they have small waterfall so you always listen a natural voice of water which is very relaxing . The staff is also very good , they always have smile on their faces ,and they always served every request very fast . the most important thing which I liked , that they have complete privacy as they provide cottages which is fully surrounded by many types of trees , I stayed there with my family for 7 days although I had booked this resort for 5 days but extended 2 days in my trip due to wonderful environment , this is the first resort from where I was not liking to come back to home , Really enjoyable , Excellent service , Everything was 5 star.

Spent 3 nights at sealagoon. Location is perfect if you are a beach person, cross the road ua at the beach, walk out of the roomthe infinity pool extends to the backwaters.. serves scrumptious breakfast that's generally included with the room stay.. have a choice of restaurants, n roadside bandis n thelas on the same road most of them sea facing, so you can have ur variety of food just a walk away too.. hardly 45 minutes from the airport.. they have a small bookcase filled with books about 20-30, that adds to the whole package.. everything is picturesque so ud keep stopping n taking pictures everywhere.. lastly, the staff is really friendly and helpful.. everything's served with a smile.. one of the best holidays I've had..

We loved this little hotel in the middle of the tea plantation. All so clean cut and cool after Cochi, with fabulous views. Toni front of house is very informative and gives a 1 hour tour of the teas and spices almost in their beautiful gardens. The room was large and balconies either side. A taxi journey to the Top Staion is a good also the tea museum and documentary which tells about the Tatar institute Aranya Natural, which supports the mentally and physically challenged youth producing wonderfully naturally died fabrics from all the spices and flowers. Visit the factory and see the school and the whole setup. A very happy time there. I have learnt that alcohol is available and the hotel will buy it in for you. No gin but rum is sold and beer. The food is good but too many bones, try veggy to avoid this. It seems to be the norm in a Kerala.. We had a very enjoyable time there.

Just off Mahatma Gandhi Road which is where the main shopping street is, the Dunes Cochin is strategically located (especially for those wanting to shop at places such as Jayalakshmi and The Chennai Silk). I stayed at Abad Hotel Turtle Beach for one day, and it was quite a good experience. The staff were very friendly and both the check-in and check-out process was very swift. The resort was well maintained and was very good to stay in. The food at the restaurant was good, and there was quite a huge spread for the complementary buffet breakfast. Being a veggie, the number of spicy dishes were missing in the lunch and dinner menus and I would prefer to have a few more up there. Apart from that, it was a good and nice experience for our family and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

They only have 2 presidential suite at their bay, as they say good things comes in limited choice so we stayed in 604 one of the suites on right side which has got extravagant view of the fall and the valley simultaneously. Whatever u see in the available online pictures you get that even more but I will talk about what you don't see is their explicitly beautiful service, they serves you with their heart and makes every effort to put smile on your face. The best part is their consistent effort which reflects in their service and a Menu book which has a list of nearby place and their history without probing to sell their travel desk, presented as a guide to the travellers. Top notch service, amazing view, good food a comforting stay away from the world is what you get here.

It was a memorable stay as we were three families and we all had a positive experience. Thekkady Greenwood Nature Resort is full of nature and is situated in the heart of city and in the midst of nature. The staff was very helpful. Our tour started from munnar then thekaddy and then to alleppy back water. In addition, if I would to recommend a hotel in munnar, SWISS COUNTY is the best choice in every respect but it is 11km away from munnar town. At last, we stayed in DESHADAN BACK WATER RESORT in alleppy, and it was also a very nice & memorable stay except house keeping services. Overall, our trip of KERALA was awesome and memorable.

My friend and I stayed here for one night in April 2016 and only wished that we could have had more time here. The room was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean, with the one of the best showers I've ever experienced and a beautiful balcony surrounded by greenery. Lovely!

Almost all the reviews said 2 things in common : Warm friendly staff and Cleanliness. These were the top highlights. We were treated with atmost care from the reception staff to the restaurant staff. My wife and I booked the Pool Villa. It was our 3rd day in munnar and was the best decision to do this the last day because we wanted to sit back and chill sipping on some hot tea. The location is great, views are amazing and September although i knew could get damp, we were graced with some beautiful mist. The food was good. The cooking class was great, the food prepared tasted excellent - fish curry, thoran and coconut rice. The restaurant views are also amazing. The only gripe was we wished the pool was temperature controlled. Apart from that we only have nice things to say. Amazing, memorable experience.

The Windsor Castle and Lake Village Ayurvedic Resort

This hotel is a must. From the moment you arrive the staff are on hand to help you. We initially booked for one night and extended to three. This is indeed a four star hotel in lush surroundings (25 acres). The rooms are immaculate and cleaned on a daily basis with bottled water being provided. The view from the room is spectacular. The hotel boasts two swimming pools and also has a lake. Take an evening stroll to the end of the gardens and watch sunset. There is also a cake shop on site. You wake up to the sounds of the birds singing, t is so peaceful nd you forget where you are. Facilicities on site include boat trip on to the backwaters, a kayak for guests to use, fishing in the lake (hotel provides fishing rods). I can not praise this hotel enough and would definitely stay here again.

I have been staying at Mercy Hotel regularly for the last 4 years and the service has been consistently excellent. From the manager(Mr. Dibu) to the bellboy, guests can always prompt and efficient attendance to their needs. The hotel itself is very well maintained and the fact that it is not a huge one perhaps enables the staff to give guest immediate personal attention. Slightly hidden from the main road, it is quiet and peaceful and yet close enough to the commercial centre of Kochi. There is no doubt that Mercy will be my preferred choice in my future visits to Kochi!

Beyond Expectations. Exactly how it is shown in the website, very clean and nice rooms. Amazing Breakfast buffet with north Indian, South Indian, Fruits, Cereals and Kerala food varities. Only and only problem is the location, was bit hard to find it and gets bit difficult to drive to the Resort at night because it gets cloudy and foggy, cannot see the road

I only stayed for one night following two weeks of amazing travels around Kerala. Fragrant Nature was a perfect end to a perfect trip. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The room was immaculate and spacious with a very large comfortable bed. The bathroom was fantastic and clean, with a good shower and complimentary toiletries. They also offered me a complimentary 30min massage, which unfortunately I didn’t manage to take. Next time! I was also invited to watch a complimentary culinary demo of how to cook a Keralan Fish Curry and Appams, which was brilliant. The best part of my stay though, was....the rooftop swimming pool. I swam in the rain, swam when the rain cleared, whilst the sun started to set and I swam in the morning as the sun rose. Just stunning! Safe to say....I made the most of my stay. I absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend this hotel. Can not wait to return, for more nights than one.

From breaking fast to dinner all items were five stars level. The staff was extremely respectful and responsive and helpful and professional. Rooms were speck and clean. The dining staff went out of their way to take care of us (vegan), including bringing us a jug of soya milk especially to our room every day for coffee. The spa therapist was so bright and friendly, and went out of her way to look after our needs and help us with other beauty treatments, even helping to arrange someone to come in to do Mehndi (henna tattoos) as the usual person wasn’t available. I would recommend anyone to go there, you may not always get what you want (some missing menu items and some activities not available for example) but they certainly do their very best and make up for those small things in abundance with their helpfulness. The only sad thing is that there weren’t more people there. The hotel have done a great job recovering from recent floods, and I wish them every success in the future.

good hotels in kerala at a reasonable price are rare. with the raviz we found the only one during a stay of 12 nights in different towns. it was the only hotel to meet western standards of hygiene and conservation. good bathroom, comfortable bed. clean room. cable tv. staff was very friendly. the breakfast and the lunch buffet were very good. nice pool, excellent views...

Upon arrival we felt very excited to be staying at The Fog as we were immediately made to feel comfortable & greeted with coffee. We opted for a Premium Valley View Room and were not disappointed with the size, level of comfort and the valley views. The hotel had not seen our request for twin bedding, but this was rectified as we went for lunch. We were a little disappointed to learn that the swimming pool was being renovated. Whilst it stated on the website that it would be ready for our dates, it wasn't. The hotel had an arrangement with a nearby hotel for its guests to use their pool and were happy to organise a free transfer. Food in the restaurant was tasty, although a little haphazard on getting food to the table in a timely manner. The front desk staff were always smiling and helpful, recommending the best times to visit Top Station and even organising a packed breakfast for us to take the next day. The only disappointment was our spa experience; communication was limited, the spa was noisy & cold & the treatments were overpriced. We took advantage of the free Nature Walk which was a short stroll down the road looking at tea, banana & cardamon plantations. Akhil took us on the walk and was a delight to enjoy chatting to. He was on an internship with The Fog, it was pleasing to see a hotel like The Fog providing opportunities for college students to gain authentic work experience. It's also worth noting that the hotel provided free accommodation for drivers.

Location is central, amenities in room are ok. Food is good. Few of the hotels in this range still offering alcoholic drinks in Kerala! Value for money hotel.

Great staff and awesome Breakfast. Location is 13 KM from main Munnar. But worth the travel. Loved the Trekking around the hotel. It's a bliss. Don't want to reveal, experience yourself. Highly recommend! Please be aware only BSNL works here. Don't worry about data. They have a great WIFI. Only flip side is the dinner . Finish your dinner and go the hotel. As Dinner seems little expensive. But don't want to go another 13 miles in the night. If there is a deal to add dinner to your price add it while booking . May work out cheaper. All the best.

The Quilon Beach Hotel & Convention Center

The friendly and helpful staff are the best thing about the hotel. Very nice views from the rooms but unfortunately the main reason I chose to stay there ie the beach is closed for swimming. Small hotel pool partially compensated with nice views of the sea, but very tiny poolside area for seating. Had a nice massage. Cable TV often unavailable and WiFi mostly ok but s...

All pros. We have been to other places that cost more (cuckmere) and leaf is so much better! It’s off the road which is not a smooth ride but you should have a good driver if you going to Munnar and this won’t be a problem. Lovely and clean. Great place to relax for couples and families. Note - there is NO alcohol in Kerala. Be prepared if this is important to you. The only con that seems to be the con in all hotels we have been - it takes 3 times the number of staff to accomplish anything. Not very efficient :) but very kind, welcoming and friendly.

Wayanad - naturally enchanting

The enchanting hill district of Wayanad in north Kerala possesses some of the rich forest wealth and a variety of wildlife in Kerala. Noted for its many tribal communities, the forests of Wayanad are home to a variety of flora and fauna and has destinations ideal for trekking and adventure based activities. Rivers, streams, lakes and waterfalls make this mountainous region even more attractive. The mist clad hills are also famous for spice, coffee, tea and areca nut plantations. Paddy is cultivated in almost all parts of this hill district. Wayanad is also home to many historic findings, especially cave dwellings belonging to the Stone Age.

Nearby attractions

Jain Temple: The Jain Temple at Sulthan Bathery is believed to have been built during the 13th century. Its design is strongly influenced by the architectural style of the then reigning Vijayanagar Dynasty. At one point in history, this temple also served as the ammunition tore or battery of Tipu Sulthan's army.

Ambalavayal Heritage Museum (about 10 km from Sulthan Bathery): One of the best heritage museums in Kerala, it houses artifacts and belongings of the various tribes in Wayanad.

Edakkal Caves (about 12 km from Sulthan Bathery): One can reach Edakkal cave after a short trek of about a kilometer from Edakkal. The wall art found in these caves that have been inhabited at various stages in history has caught the attention of archaeologists worldwide.

Chethalayam Falls (about 12 km from Sulthan Bathery): This is one of Wayanad's many splendid waterfalls. It is a lovely place to visit and adventure-minded can easily have an enjoyable time climbing up the rocks to the waterfall. * Sight seeing is permanently closed in chethalayam waterfalls

Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary (about 17 km from Sulthan Bathery): Rich in bio-diversity, this sanctuary is contiguous to the protected forests of Nagarhole and Bandipur on the northeast in the neighbouring State of Karnataka and Mudumalai on the southeast in the neighbouring State of Tamil Nadu. The sanctuary is managed scientifically with prime importance for conservation and genera lifestyle of the tribals and others who live in and around the forest region.

IndiGo Introduces Hotel Booking Option — India Report

IndiGo's decision to add a hotel booking platform to its website and app seems to be aimed at targeting potential customers looking for a one-step solution for hotel and flight bookings. It is not the first Indian airline to make this move, but for a user base that pivots towards OTAs to find the most price-conscious option as well as deals, will this work?

Low-cost carrier IndiGo has introduced a new hotel booking option on its website and app. The airline said the aim of the integrated service is to allow passengers the convenience of a one-step solution.

In a statement, the airline said that the customers who choose to fly with IndiGo would be able to avail exclusive discounts over 700,000 properties across 250,000 destinations.

To develop and manage the hotel platform integrated with the flight platform, the airline has partnered with Vernost Marketing Services, a marketing partner of the Expedia group. Through this, IndiGo customers will be able to access Expedia’s hotel portfolio.

Not The First: IndiGo is not the first Indian airline to provide this integrated service of flight and hotel booking. Full service airline Vistara has a hotel booking platform powered by online travel agency Booking.com. The platform allows customers to earn 5 Club Vistara reward points for every INR 100 ($1.20) spent on the hotel booking.

Budget airline SpiceJet also has a Spice Vacations platform that allows customers to book hotels, flights, or flight and hotel combinations as required.

Expanding Operations: IndiGo is expanding its operations rapidly, while awaiting the launch of its business class later this year. IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers wants to make the airline a global aviation player, he told Skift in an interview .

The company has been expanding its network extensively in the domestic as well as the international short-haul markets. It has also been expanding its codeshare partnerships, with the most recent one being a codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines .

Mumbai International Airport Introduces Digital Gateway Solution

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai has created infrastructure to expand its DigiYatra and non-DigiYatra facility to 68 e-gates. The number of landside e-gates at the airport has been increased from 24 to 68 to allow the airport to process nearly 7,500 passengers an hour at Terminal 2 and over 2,000 passengers an hour at Terminal 1.

“With the introduction of the digital gateway the wait times are reduced to under one minute at the kerbside,” a statement from the airport authorities said.

The airport is also working to deploy 118 e-gates at the Pre-embarkation Security Check (PESC) area at Terminal 2 to simplify passenger movement. The airport is also set to install artificial intelligence and machine learning-enabled cameras to enhance the security system at the airport’s kerbside.

According to data from the Airports Authority of India, Mumbai was the second busiest airport in India during the 2023-2024 financial year, after the Delhi airport. The Mumbai airport witnessed international traffic of over 14.3 million passengers, while for domestic passengers, this number was 38.5 million.

Leela Hotels Likely to Launch IPO in 9 Months

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts is seeking a valuation of approximately $2.5 billion in its upcoming initial public offering (IPO) . The company is expecting to raise around INR 31.5 billion ($377 million) from its public offering, making it Indian hospitality industry’s largest-ever IPO.

The IPO is likely to be listed in the next 9 months. Promoter Brookfield is reportedly going to initially sell 15% of its stake to the public. An additional 10% of its stake will be sold over the next three years.

However, the IPO will exclude The Leela Mumbai, which Hotel Leelaventure (HLV) Limited, the original owners of Leela, promotes and is already listed.

Sarovar Hotels Launches Sarovar Leadership Development Program

Sarovar Hotels and Resorts has announced the launch of Sarovar Leadership Development Program in collaboration with hotel management institute Indian School of Hospitality (ISH). The program aims to provide career development opportunities to young professions in the hotel industry.

The hybrid program, spanning 12 months, is meant to provide students with knowledge, skills, and experience. ISH will be providing academic support and developing the curriculum.

In an earlier interview with Skift , Sarovar Hotels managing director Ajay Bakaya had said that the program is meant to overcome the challenge of lack of adequate workforce across the hotel industry.

Korea Tourism Organization Concludes Roadshow in Kochi

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has concluded its roadshow in Kerala’s Kochi, after holding two events in Mumbai and Bengaluru earlier this year. The roadshows are a significant part of the organization’s strategy to target travel agents across India.

Myong Kil Yun, regional director for India and SAARC countries at KTO, said that the roadshow allowed the organization to connect with its travel partners. “This event has allowed us to provide them with the tools and knowledge to promote Korea as a premier travel destination,” he added.

KTO is aiming to welcome 200,000 Indians in South Korea this year. According to data from Visit Korea, this figure was a little over 120,000 in 2023. Between January and April this year, over 53,000 Indian tourists have visited the country, up from about 27,000 Indians that visited South Korea last year during the same period.

New Series ‘Grand Indian Hotel’ Featuring Oberoi Hotels to Debut This Week

BBC Studios’ streaming service BBC Player is set to debut ‘Grand Indian Hotel’ series on Friday across Prime Video channels. The series features the Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, showcasing its hospitality traditions.

The three-part series aims to showcase the work that goes into upholding the hotel chain’s hospitality standards, and features The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur; The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur; and The Oberoi, New Delhi.

Speaking at the Skift India Summit earlier this year , the group’s managing director and CEO Vikram Oberoi had said that the company’s focus was not to be the biggest. “That’s not our playing field. Our focus is to be the very best. Our belief is that guests appreciate that and will pay a premium for that. We invest huge amounts — relative to our size — to learning and development for staff. We are far from perfect but we’re striving for perfection.”
