Answer: In my case, I provided birth certificates, marriage certificates, and recent family photographs. Sometimes, additional documents like joint bank statements or family registration records can also be helpful.

Q: Should I include details about my job or business in the visa application letter?

USA B-1 Visa Invitation Letter: A Guide for International Business Visitors

Understanding the b-1 visa, table of contents.

If you are interested in traveling to the United States for business purposes, you may need to apply for a B-1 visa. This visa is specifically designed for individuals who need to travel to the US for short-term business purposes such as attending conferences, negotiating contracts, or conducting research.

To apply for a B-1 visa, you will need to provide a letter of invitation from the company or organization you will be visiting in the United States. This letter should include information about the nature of your business, the duration of your stay, and any other relevant details. It is important to note that a B-1 visa does not allow you to work in the United States, but rather only to engage in business-related activities.

When applying for a B-1 visa, you will need to provide various documents, including your passport, a completed visa application form, and proof of your ties to your home country. It is important to be prepared to answer questions about your business activities and to provide evidence that you will be returning to your home country after your stay in the United States.

It is also important to note that holders of B-1 visas may be subject to certain restrictions and limitations. For example, you may be required to leave the United States after a certain period of time, and you may not be able to change your status to another visa category while in the United States.

In conclusion, if you are planning to travel to the United States for business purposes, it is important to understand the requirements and limitations of the B-1 visa. By providing a comprehensive letter of invitation and being prepared to answer questions about your business activities, you can increase your chances of obtaining a B-1 visa and successfully conducting your business in the United States.

B-1 Visa Application Process

If you are planning to visit the United States for business purposes, you will need to apply for a B-1 visa. Here is a brief overview of the B-1 visa application process:

Step 1: Determine Your Eligibility

Before you begin the application process, you should determine whether you are eligible for a B-1 visa. The B-1 visa is intended for individuals who are visiting the United States for business purposes, such as attending a conference, negotiating a contract, or conducting research. You must be able to show that your visit is temporary and that you have no intention of immigrating to the United States.

Step 2: Complete the Application Form

To apply for a B-1 visa, you will need to complete Form DS-160, which is the online nonimmigrant visa application form. You will be asked to provide personal information, as well as details about your travel plans and the purpose of your visit. Be sure to answer all questions truthfully and accurately.

Step 3: Pay the Application Fee

Once you have completed the application form, you will need to pay the application fee. The fee for a B-1 visa is $160, but this may vary depending on your country of origin. You can pay the fee online using a credit card or by cash at a designated payment location.

Step 4: Schedule Your Interview

After you have paid the application fee, you will need to schedule an interview with a U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. You should schedule your interview as soon as possible, as wait times can vary depending on the location.

Step 5: Attend Your Interview

On the day of your interview, you should arrive at the embassy or consulate early and bring all necessary documentation, including your passport, application form, and any supporting documents. During the interview, you will be asked questions about your travel plans and the purpose of your visit. Be sure to answer truthfully and provide any additional documents that may be requested.

Step 6: Receive Your Visa

If your application is approved, you will receive your B-1 visa, which will be affixed to your passport. You will also receive a Form I-94, which is a record of your arrival and departure from the United States. If you need to extend your stay in the United States, you can file Form I-539 to request an extension of your B-1 visa.

Invitation Letter for B-1 Visa

If you are planning to visit the United States on a B-1 visa, you will need to provide an invitation letter as part of your application. The invitation letter is a document that is written by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is inviting you to visit the country for business purposes.

The invitation letter should include your name, address, and contact information, as well as the name and contact information of the person or company that is inviting you. It should also include the purpose of your visit, the dates of your stay, and any other relevant details about your trip.

When writing the invitation letter, it is important to be clear and concise. Use a professional tone and avoid making exaggerated or false claims. The letter should be signed by the author and include their contact information, such as their email address and phone number.

Here is an example of a sample invitation letter for a B-1 visa:

Make sure that the invitation letter includes all of the necessary information and is formatted correctly. This will help to ensure that your visa application is processed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Preparing for B-1 Visa Interview

If you are planning to visit the United States on a B-1 visa, you will need to attend a visa interview with a consular officer at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. The purpose of the interview is to determine whether you are eligible for the visa and to ensure that you will comply with the terms of your visa.

To prepare for your B-1 visa interview, you should take the following steps:

1. Review your application

Before attending the interview, review your visa application to ensure that all the information is accurate and up-to-date. Make sure you have provided all the necessary documentation and that you have answered all the questions truthfully.

2. Gather supporting documents

You will need to bring certain documents to your visa interview, such as your passport, visa application confirmation page, and any additional documents that support your application. These may include a letter of invitation from a U.S. company or organization, proof of your ties to your home country, and evidence of your ability to support yourself financially during your stay in the U.S.

3. Prepare for the interview questions

During the interview, the consular officer will ask you questions about your reasons for visiting the U.S., your ties to your home country, and your plans while in the U.S. Be prepared to provide detailed and accurate answers to these questions.

4. Dress appropriately

It is important to dress professionally for your visa interview. This shows that you take the process seriously and that you respect the U.S. government.

Costs and Fees Associated with B-1 Visa

If you are planning to invite someone to the United States on a B-1 visa, there are several costs and fees associated with the process that you should be aware of. In this section, we will discuss the expenses you can expect to incur when applying for a B-1 visa.

Visa Application Fees

The first cost associated with a B-1 visa is the visa application fee. As of September 2023, the application fee for a B-1 visa is $160. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid at the time of the visa application.

Airfare and Transportation

In addition to the visa application fee, you will also need to consider the cost of airfare and transportation for the person you are inviting. Depending on where they are traveling from, airfare can be a significant expense. You may also need to arrange transportation within the United States, which can include car rentals or public transportation.

Accommodation and Living Expenses

If the person you are inviting is staying for an extended period, you may also need to consider the cost of accommodation and living expenses. This can include hotel stays, apartment rentals, or even food and entertainment expenses.

Miscellaneous Expenses

Finally, there may be other miscellaneous expenses associated with the B-1 visa process, such as the cost of obtaining an invitation letter or paying for legal services. These costs can vary widely depending on your specific situation.

Overall, the costs and fees associated with a B-1 visa can add up quickly. It is important to carefully consider all of the expenses involved before extending an invitation to someone to visit the United States on a B-1 visa.

Traveling to the U.S. with a B-1 Visa

If you have been invited to the United States for business purposes, you will need to obtain a B-1 visa. This visa allows you to enter the U.S. for a short period of time to conduct business-related activities. Here’s what you need to know about traveling to the U.S. with a B-1 visa:

Before You Travel

Before you travel to the U.S., you will need to obtain a B-1 visa from a U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. You will also need to have a valid passport and other supporting documents, such as an invitation letter from the U.S. company you will be doing business with.

If you are a citizen of a country that participates in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), you may be eligible to travel to the U.S. without a visa. However, you will still need to obtain authorization through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before you travel.

At the U.S. Port of Entry

When you arrive in the U.S., you will need to go through Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspection at the port of entry. You will need to present your passport, visa, and supporting documents to the CBP officer.

The CBP officer will then stamp your passport with an admission stamp that shows the date and place of entry, as well as the authorized period of stay. It’s important to make sure that the stamp is accurate and matches the information on your visa.

During Your Stay

While you are in the U.S. on a B-1 visa, you are only authorized to engage in business-related activities, such as attending meetings, negotiating contracts, and conducting research. You are not allowed to work or receive payment from a U.S. source.

It’s important to keep in mind that a B-1 visa does not allow you to stay in the U.S. indefinitely. You are only authorized to stay for the period of time specified on your admission stamp, which is usually six months. If you need to stay longer, you will need to apply for an extension.

Traveling to the U.S. with a B-1 visa can be a complex process, but with the right preparation and documentation, it can be a smooth and successful experience. Remember to obtain your visa and supporting documents before you travel, present them to the CBP officer at the port of entry, and engage only in authorized business activities during your stay.

B-1 Visa for Specific Countries

If you are a U.S. citizen or a company based in the United States, and you want to invite someone from a foreign country to visit you for business purposes, you may need to provide them with a B-1 visa invitation letter. The B-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows foreign nationals to enter the United States temporarily for business-related purposes.

If you are inviting someone from India, for example, they will need to apply for a B-1 visa at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Mumbai. The application process usually involves filling out a DS-160 form, paying a visa fee, and attending an interview at the embassy or consulate.

When preparing your B-1 visa invitation letter, it is important to include specific details about the purpose of the visit, the duration of the stay, and the relationship between the inviting party and the invited party. You may also need to provide information about the financial arrangements for the visit, including who will be responsible for paying for travel, lodging, and other expenses.

It is worth noting that the requirements for the B-1 visa can vary depending on the country of origin of the visitor. Some countries may have different application procedures or additional requirements, so it is important to check with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the visitor’s home country for specific guidance.

Overall, the B-1 visa can be a useful tool for facilitating business relationships between the United States and other countries. By providing a clear and detailed invitation letter, you can help ensure that your visitor’s application process goes smoothly and that they are able to enter the country for their intended business purposes.

B-1 Visa and Employment

If you are planning to visit the United States for business purposes, you may be eligible for a B-1 visa. This visa allows you to travel to the United States for a short period of time to engage in business activities such as attending business meetings, negotiating contracts, or attending conferences.

It is important to note that the B-1 visa does not allow you to work in the United States. However, there are certain situations where you may be able to engage in limited employment activities while on a B-1 visa . For example, you may be able to engage in activities such as installing or servicing equipment, consulting with clients, or attending training sessions.

To apply for a B-1 visa, you will need to provide a letter of invitation from a U.S. company or organization. This letter should provide details about the purpose of your visit, the duration of your stay, and the nature of the business activities you will be engaged in. It should also include information about who will be responsible for your expenses while in the United States.

When preparing your B-1 visa invitation letter, it is important to be specific and detailed about the purpose of your visit. This will help ensure that your visa application is approved and that you are able to travel to the United States for your intended business activities.

Overall, the B-1 visa is a valuable tool for individuals who need to travel to the United States for business purposes. While it does not allow for employment in the United States, it does provide a way for individuals to engage in important business activities and further their professional goals.

Visitor Visa: B-2 and its Comparison with B-1

If you are planning to visit the United States for leisure activities such as tourism, vacation, or visiting family or friends, you might want to consider applying for a B-2 visitor visa. This type of nonimmigrant visa allows you to stay in the US for a maximum of six months and can be extended for another six months in some cases.

The B-2 visa is different from the B-1 visa, which is intended for business-related activities such as attending conferences, negotiating contracts, or consulting with business associates. While the B-1 visa allows you to engage in certain business activities, it does not permit you to work or receive payment from a US employer.

If you are unsure which visa category to apply for, you can check with the US embassy or consulate in your home country. In general, the B-2 visa is more suitable for leisure activities, while the B-1 visa is more appropriate for business-related activities.

When applying for a B-2 visitor visa, you will need to provide documentation such as a valid passport, a completed visa application form, and proof of your ties to your home country, such as a job, property, or family. You may also be required to attend an interview at the US embassy or consulate.

It is important to note that the B-2 visa does not allow you to work or study in the US. If you plan to engage in these activities, you will need to apply for a different type of visa.

In summary, if you are planning a vacation or visiting family or friends in the US, the B-2 visitor visa is a good option to consider. However, if you are planning to engage in business-related activities, the B-1 visa might be more appropriate. Make sure to carefully review the requirements and restrictions of each visa category before applying.

Legal Aspects of B-1 Visa

If you are planning to visit the United States for business purposes, you may require a B-1 visa. The B-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows foreign nationals to enter the US for business-related activities, such as attending conferences, negotiating contracts, and consulting with business associates. However, it is important to understand the legal aspects of the B-1 visa before applying.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a B-1 visa, you must demonstrate that you intend to enter the US for a specific business purpose, that you have a residence outside of the US that you do not intend to abandon, and that you have sufficient funds to cover your expenses while in the US. Additionally, you must not engage in any unauthorized employment while in the US.

Invitation Letter

One of the most important aspects of the B-1 visa application process is the invitation letter. The invitation letter should be written on company letterhead and should include the purpose of the visit, the dates of the visit, and the name and contact information of the inviting company. The invitation letter should also include information about the financial arrangements for the trip, such as who will be paying for the expenses.

Legal Representation

If you are unsure about the legal aspects of the B-1 visa, it may be helpful to consult with a lawyer. A lawyer can help you understand the eligibility criteria, assist with the application process, and answer any questions you may have about the legal aspects of the B-1 visa.

Affidavit of Support

If you are a lawful permanent resident of the US and you are inviting someone to visit you on a B-1 visa, you may be required to provide an affidavit of support. An affidavit of support is a legal document that demonstrates that you have sufficient funds to support the visitor during their stay in the US.

In conclusion, understanding the legal aspects of the B-1 visa is crucial for a successful application process. Make sure to carefully review the eligibility criteria, obtain a well-written invitation letter, consider consulting with a lawyer, and be prepared to provide an affidavit of support if necessary.

Insurance and Medical Considerations for B-1 Visa Holders

As a B-1 visa holder, you are required to have medical insurance that covers any medical expenses that may arise during your stay in the United States. This is because the US healthcare system is expensive, and without insurance, you may end up paying a lot of money out of pocket.

When applying for a B-1 visa, you may be asked to provide proof of medical insurance. Therefore, it is important to purchase insurance before your trip and ensure that it meets the requirements set by the US government. The insurance should cover emergency medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation of remains in case of death.

It is also important to note that the medical insurance should be valid for the entire duration of your stay in the US. If your insurance expires before you leave the US, you may not be able to extend your stay or even face deportation.

In addition to medical insurance, it is also advisable to consider liability insurance. This type of insurance protects you from any legal claims that may arise due to your actions or inactions while in the US. For example, if you accidentally injure someone or damage their property, liability insurance will cover the costs of any legal claims against you.

In conclusion, as a B-1 visa holder, it is important to have both medical and liability insurance to protect yourself from any unexpected expenses or legal claims. Make sure to purchase insurance that meets the requirements set by the US government and ensure that it is valid for the entire duration of your stay.

Funds and Stay

Additionally, you should be prepared to provide information about your travel plans, including your itinerary and the length of your stay.

Residence and Activities

When applying for a B-1 visa, you will need to provide information about your residence and activities in your home country. This can include information about your job, your family, and your social activities. Contact Information

Finally, it is important to include your contact information in your visa application. This can include your phone number, email address, and mailing address. You should also be prepared to provide the contact information for any family members or friends who will be traveling with you.

Overall, applying for a B-1 visa can be a complex process, but by following these tips and providing all of the necessary information, you can increase your chances of a successful application. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact your local U.S. consulate for more information.

Cover Letter for Schengen Visa Visiting Family [Sample, Template & Tips on How To Write] in 2024

How to write a cover letter for schengen visa visiting family, 1. introduction.

Start your letter by introducing yourself. This includes:

  • Passport number
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Current residence address
  • Contact details

2. Purpose of Visit

Detail the primary purpose of your visit. Mention that you’re visiting family members, specifying who they are, their relation to you, and their residence address in the Schengen area. It’s beneficial to underline that family reunions are the sole purpose of your trip.

3. Travel Itinerary

In this section, provide a brief overview of your travel itinerary. Mention:

  • Arrival and departure dates
  • The Schengen country you’ll first land in
  • Your planned movement within the Schengen zone (if you’ll be traveling to more than one country)

4. Detailed Trip Plan

Expand on your travel itinerary:

  • Mention any events or family functions you plan to attend.
  • Discuss places of interest you might visit with family members.
  • Give an idea of how you plan to spend your time. This paints a picture of a personal, family-centered trip.

5. Accommodation Details

Discuss your accommodation arrangements during your stay:

  • If staying with family, mention their address and provide a consent letter or invitation from them.
  • If you’ve booked a hotel for any part of your stay (perhaps due to space constraints at your family’s residence or a side trip), provide those details and reservations.

6. Financial Proof

Highlight that you have the financial means to support yourself during your visit:

  • Mention bank statements or salary slips you’re attaching.
  • If your family is sponsoring your trip or covering some of your expenses, provide documentation of their willingness and their financial capability to do so.

7. Ties to Home Country

This section is crucial. The Schengen authorities want to ensure that you have strong reasons to return to your home country. Mention:

  • Your current job or business, including position and duration of employment or business operation.
  • Property or assets you own in your home country.
  • Close family members residing in your home country, emphasizing your need to return.

8. Previous Travel History

If you’ve traveled to other countries in the past, especially the Schengen zone, mentioning this can bolster your application. It indicates that you’ve respected visa conditions before and adds credibility to your current application.

9. Conclusion

Conclude by summarizing your intent, assuring the visa officer of your plans to return after your visit. Express hope that the consulate will grant the visa, allowing you to spend quality time with your family.

10. Signature and Date

End the letter with your signature, full name, and date.

4 Tips For Writing Your Cover Letter

  • Clarity : Ensure your cover letter is clear and easy to understand.
  • Brevity : While you want to provide all necessary details, keep your letter concise.
  • Proofreading : Avoid typos and grammatical errors to make a professional impression.
  • Attachments : Clearly list all the attachments you’re enclosing with your application.

What Should I Do if There’s a Change in My Travel Plans After Submitting the Cover Letter?

If there’s a change in your travel plans after submitting the cover letter for your Schengen visa application:

  • Inform the Embassy/Consulate : Contact the embassy or consulate where you submitted your application as soon as possible to inform them about the changes.
  • Submit Revised Documents : Provide updated documents reflecting the new travel plans. This may include a revised cover letter, updated itinerary, or new hotel bookings.
  • Explain the Changes : Clearly explain the reasons for the changes in your travel plans and ensure that they are consistent with the visa type you are applying for.
  • Check for Additional Requirements : Ask the embassy or consulate if any additional information or documentation is required due to the change in plans.

Promptly addressing any changes can help prevent misunderstandings and potential delays in your visa processing.

Can I Include Additional Documents That Aren’t Mentioned in the Cover Letter’s Attachments Checklist?

Yes, you can include additional documents that are not listed in the cover letter’s attachments checklist if you believe they strengthen your application:

  • Relevant Documents : Include documents that provide further evidence of your ties to your home country, financial stability, or purpose of travel.
  • Clearly Label and Explain : Ensure that each additional document is clearly labeled and referenced in your cover letter, explaining why it is relevant to your application.
  • Avoid Unnecessary Information : Only include additional documents that are directly pertinent to your application to avoid overloading the embassy or consulate with unnecessary information.

Providing comprehensive and relevant information can aid in the decision-making process of your visa application.

Should I Get the Cover Letter Notarized or Officially Verified?

Generally, it is not necessary to get your cover letter for a Schengen visa notarized or officially verified:

  • Standard Requirements : Most Schengen visa applications do not require cover letters to be notarized.
  • Official Verification Unnecessary : Unless specifically requested by the embassy or consulate, official verification is not typically needed.
  • Authenticity and Accuracy : Your cover letter should be truthful and accurate, as providing false information can lead to visa refusal or other legal consequences.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can i draft the cover letter by hand or should it be typed.

It’s recommended to type the cover letter for clarity and professionalism. Handwritten letters might be difficult to read and appear less formal.

Can I use the same cover letter for multiple Schengen countries if I'm visiting family in more than one country?

No, it’s advisable to draft separate cover letters for each country, tailoring the content to your plans and the family you’ll be visiting in each nation.

Is it mandatory to attach all documents mentioned in the attachments checklist?

While the checklist serves as a guide, you should only include relevant documents. For instance, if you haven’t had prior Schengen visas, you wouldn’t need to include past visas in your submission.

How long should I wait before following up on my visa application after submitting the cover letter and accompanying documents?

It’s recommended to wait for at least 15 business days before inquiring about the status of your visa application unless you’ve been given a different timeline by the embassy or consulate.

Health insurance needs to be taken for the additional period.

As the rules may change from time to time, an extension beyond 90 90-day stay is not guaranteed. If you are planning to extend for 5 more months (after one month) please confirm with the Immigration Department before purchasing additional insurance.

Number of Days To Enter Qatar After Visa Approval

Once the visa is approved, it will have the “visa valid till” date printed on the top. This is the last date for entry to Qatar (not the last date of stay in Qatar). Currently, it is 90 days from the date of visa approval . Visitors cannot use this visa after this date.

Traditionally, applying for a family visit visa was to visit any Ministry of Interior (MoI) Service Centre and submit copies of the documents along with the printed application form.

In 2018, Qatar introduced an online system where residents can apply for family visit visas through the Metrash2 mobile.

Through this service, you can upload all the required documents in the specified fields. You can also track the application status and pay the fees electronically once approved.

Below are the steps to apply for a Qatar Family Visit Visa using the Metrash mobile app.

Step 1. Open the Metrash2 app on your mobile and log in

If you haven’t registered for Metrash2, see our comprehensive Metrash2 User Guide .

Step 9. Upload the required photos or scans of the documents

  • Document scans/photos must be clear and readable .
  • For documents with multiple pages, you must combine both photos/scans to create one JPG file .
  • When uploading passports, photo and bio pages should be on the same side.
  • For “Marriage Certificate (Others)”, you can upload the attested backside of the marriage certificate.
  • Often a birth certificate is asked to prove your relationship with the visitor. If this is unavailable, you can also use any other document proving the relationship.

Step 10. You will receive an update after a few days

If there are any missing or mismatched documents, you will be notified to make the required changes. After verifying and approving the application, you will receive an application number.

The application status will change to “Under Process”, “Under Review” and again to “Under Process” before getting approved.

Step 11. Pay the required fee

Once the visa is approved, you have to pay the visa fee (QR 200) online via Metrash. To make the payment, go to the “Visa Fees Payment” icon on the “Visa Operation” page.

Pay Visit Visa Fee On Metrash

Step 12. Buy health insurance

From April 2023, health insurance needs to be taken after the visit visa is approved (not during application).

Once your visa is approved, you will receive a message to buy the insurance. While buying the insurance, enter the visa number and it will be updated in the Metrash system. The visa can be printed only after insurance has been purchased.

After this, you can download the visa copy and send it to the visitor for travel.

You can see the status on your Metrash app itself.

Check Family Visit Visa Status on Metrash

You can also check the family visit visa status on the Ministry of Interior website under Inquiries >> Visa Services >> Visa Approval Tracking ( link ).

Qatar Visa Check Online

Enter the application number and application date or sponsor’s QID number. Make sure all the required details are filled in correctly, and you’ll be able to check your visa status.

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) no longer entertains offline applications for family visit visas. You are required to apply via the Metrash mobile app.

There may be several reasons why your family visit visa application is rejected. Often it is due to submitting wrong or insufficient documents.

If the document photo is not clear or not attested (in the case of a marriage certificate), you can do the attestation and resubmit again. However, it is imperative to understand the reason and fix it before applying again.

Applications can also be rejected if the applicant (a Qatar resident) does not comply with the required conditions (salary or profession). If the application is rejected due to the applicant not meeting the salary requirement, it would be difficult to get approved again.

However, in case of rejection due to profession, you can try to meet the Captain at the Immigration Office in Duhail , and request for reconsideration. Sometimes he would approve if the profession is acceptable.

If your application is still under review or process, you can cancel it by clicking on the right arrow on the status page. If this option is not available, you will have to visit any MOI Service Center.

  • Passport (minimum validity of 6 months)
  • Visa printout

  • Health insurance

As the initial visa is issued for one month only, the sponsor has to extend it within the first month to avoid any penalties.

Relatives wishing to stay beyond one month must undergo a medical test within a few days. Here is the detailed process of the medical test for a visit visa extension .

Once the medical examination is passed, the visit visa can be extended online using the Metrash mobile app (Visa –> Visa Services –> Extend Visa) or by visiting any MOI service centre.

Family Visit

If the return ticket is after 30 days, some airlines may not allow visitors to board the flight since the initial visa is only for 30 days. So make sure to book a flight ticket that can be modified with a minimum change fee. In this way, once the visitor reaches Qatar, the ticket dates can be modified.

As this is an online visa, some airlines may require an “OK to Board” status in their system before departure. You can get this status by showing the visa copy to the airline’s Doha office.

“Null” Status on Visit Visa Application Receipt

Some of our readers have raised concerns that the receipt they received after application submission shows “null” in most fields.

Please note that this is normal for all applicants. This document is only an acknowledgement that they received your application. Your application details will be in the system.

Visit Visa Application “Under Process” and “Under Review” Status

Applicants often get confused about changes to their visit visa application status. It is normal that each visit visa application moves through “Under Process” and “Under Review” statuses multiple times before approval.

If your application status changes between these two, you do not have to do anything. In most cases, the application will be approved within days of a status change.

Qatar Family Visit Visa Approval Time

As of 2024, the average approval time for a Family Visit Visa is 1-4 weeks. Please note that applications are processed in batches and may not be on a first-come first-serve basis.

Sometimes it gets approved. If you are sure you won’t use A1, you can cancel and apply for family visit.

Hi DG team,

Please advice under family RP application for the children -10 Yr category, what are documents to be upload in the “others document “

Hi Raj, It is optional. If you have uploaded all other documents, you don’t need to do anything here.

Hi DG team, Are round trip flight tickets mandatory at application stage for Family Visit Visa or I can book tickets after visa is issued ?

Hi Yusuf, Round trip tickets are required as per the procedure. You can take a flexible ticket or even dummy ticket from any travel agency.

Expedite Requests

ALERT:  If you are a healthcare worker or a childcare worker

If you are a healthcare worker or a childcare worker

  • Who has a pending Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, initial application, which has been pending for over 90 days; OR
  • Who has a pending Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, renewal  application and whose Employment Authorization Document (EAD) expires within 30 days or less, or has already expired:

Call the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 (TTY 800-767-1833) to request expedited processing based on your position as a healthcare worker or a childcare worker with an EAD application that meets the above criteria.

To determine whether you are a qualifying healthcare worker, see this  DHS advisory memorandum (“Healthcare/Public Health” section, pages 7-9) (PDF) .

To determine whether you are a qualifying childcare worker, see the  Standard Occupational Classification (SOC)  code 39-9011, which includes workers who “attend to children at schools, businesses, private households, and childcare institutions” and “perform a variety of tasks, such as dressing, feeding, bathing, and overseeing play.” (Note that this definition does not include preschool teachers or teaching assistants.)

Be prepared to provide evidence of your profession or current or immediate prospective employment as a healthcare worker or a childcare worker and current valid immigration status. If the evidence you provide is not sufficient, we may not accommodate your request for expedited processing of your Form I-765.

You may request that USCIS expedite the adjudication of an application, petition, request, appeal, or motion that is under USCIS jurisdiction.

We consider all expedite requests on a case-by-case basis and generally require documentation to support such requests. The decision to expedite is within the sole discretion of USCIS. Expediting your case generally means that we would adjudicate your benefit ahead of others, including those who may have filed earlier, so we carefully weigh the urgency and merit of each expedite request.

Relevant criteria or circumstances that may be considered in determining whether to grant an expedite request include, but are not limited to, the below:

  • Severe financial loss to a company or person, provided that the need for urgent action is not the result of the petitioner’s or applicant’s failure to timely file the benefit request or to timely respond to any requests for evidence;
  • Emergencies or urgent humanitarian situations;
  • Nonprofit organization (as designated by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)) whose request is in furtherance of the cultural or social interests of the United States;
  • Government interests, including cases identified by the government as urgent because they involve the public interest, public safety, national interest, or national security interests; and
  • Clear USCIS error.

Not every circumstance that fits under the criteria or examples above will result in expedited processing. See more information below on expedite criteria and circumstances. For USCIS’  expedite policy guidance , see Volume 1 of the USCIS Policy Manual.

Note:   The processes and requirements for requesting expedited adjudication are different for some application types and circumstances. Refer to the chart in the Specific Procedures section of this page for more information about expedite requests related to:

  • Appeals or motions
  • Refugee status
  • Petition for refugee/asylee relative
  • Humanitarian parole
  • T nonimmigrant status
  • U nonimmigrant status
  • Other benefit requests pending with offices outside the United States

A company can demonstrate that it would suffer a severe financial loss if it is at risk of failing, losing a critical contract, or required to lay off other employees.

Job loss may be sufficient to establish severe financial loss for a person, depending on the individual circumstances. The need to obtain employment authorization, standing alone, without evidence of other compelling factors, does not warrant expedited treatment.

Examples may include:

  • A medical office that may suffer severe financial loss if a gap in a doctor’s employment authorization would require the medical practice to lay off its medical assistants.
  • A person who would lose critical public benefits or services.

In the context of an expedite request, an emergency or urgent humanitarian situation is a pressing or critical circumstance related to human welfare. Human welfare means issues related to the well-being of a person or group. Examples include, but are not limited to, illness, disability, death of a family member or close friend, or extreme living conditions, such as those caused by natural catastrophes or armed conflict.

NOTE:  Certain benefit requests, such as asylum applications, refugee applications, and requests for humanitarian parole, by their nature involve urgent humanitarian situations. Therefore, filing a humanitarian-based benefit, standing alone, without evidence of other time-sensitive or compelling factors, generally may not warrant expedited treatment under this criterion.

Examples of emergencies or urgent humanitarian situations may include:

  • A vulnerable person whose safety may be otherwise compromised.
  • Healthcare workers who are needed during a pandemic.

Travel-Related Requests

USCIS considers expedited processing of an Application for Travel Document ( Form I-131 ) when there is a pressing or critical need for an applicant to travel outside the United States.

Expedited processing of a travel document may be warranted when there is an unexpected need to travel outside the United States for an unplanned event, such as for a funeral. Expedited processing of a travel document may also be warranted when there is a pressing or critical need to travel outside the United States for a planned event, but processing times prevent USCIS from issuing the travel document by the planned date of departure. When there is a request to expedite processing of a travel document for a planned event, we will consider whether the applicant timely filed  Form I-131 or timely responded to a request for evidence.

NOTE:  A benefit requestor’s desire to travel solely for vacation generally does not meet the definition of a pressing or critical need to travel.

We generally require documentation to support an expedite request. Examples of evidence that may support travel-related expedite requests are outlined in the following table.

Examples of a pressing or critical need to travel outside the United States may include:

  • A requestor who has a pressing or critical need to travel outside the United States to obtain medical treatment in a limited amount of time.
  • A requestor who has a pressing or critical need to travel outside the United States due to the death or grave illness of a family member or close friend.
  • A requestor who applied for a travel document 5 months ago when they learned of the event, but their case remains pending, and they must travel for a pressing or critical professional, academic, or personal commitment, which is now in 45 days.

A nonprofit organization seeking to expedite a beneficiary’s benefit request must demonstrate an urgent need to expedite the case based on the beneficiary’s specific role within the nonprofit in furthering cultural or social interests (as opposed to the organization’s role in furthering social or cultural interests).

  • A professional who is urgently needed for research related to a specific U.S. social interest.
  • A university professor urgently needed to participate in a specific and imminent cultural program.
  • A religious organization that urgently needs a beneficiary’s specific services and skill set to continue a vital social outreach program.

This includes cases identified as urgent by a federal, state, tribal, territorial, or local government of the United States because they involve public interest, public safety, national interest, or national security interests. The request must be made by a person who has authority to represent the agency or department, such as an official, manager, supervisor, or tribal leader, on the matter for which expedited treatment is being requested. The request must demonstrate that the interests are pressing and substantive.

Where a federal agency or department is able to state a federal government interest in accordance with these criteria, we generally defer to that federal agency or department’s assessment.

If the request relates to employment authorization, the request must demonstrate that the need for the applicant to be authorized to work is critical to the mission of the requesting agency or department, and goes beyond a general need to retain a particular worker or person.

  • A noncitizen victim or witness who is cooperating with a federal, state, or local agency and needs employment authorization because the respective agency is seeking back pay or reinstatement in court proceedings.
  • A noncitizen scientist whose contributions are needed by a government lab or grantee.

USCIS may consider an expedite request based on clear USCIS error when a requestor establishes an urgent need to correct the error.

An example may include:

  • An applicant who receives an Employment Authorization Document with incorrect information that prevents them from being able to work may request a replacement document on an expedited basis if we caused the error.

You generally may request we expedite your case after you receive a receipt notice. (The process to request an expedite is different in some circumstances. See the Specific Procedures section below.)

Before submitting an expedite request, you should:

  • Check current  case processing times to determine whether you need an expedite.
  • Check your  case status online . If there is an action on your case pending with you, such as submitting biometrics or evidence, you should complete these actions before submitting an expedite request.
  • Check whether  premium processing service is available. We will not consider expedite requests for petitions and applications where premium processing service is available, unless the petitioner is designated as a nonprofit organization by the IRS and filing for a beneficiary whose services are needed to further the cultural or social interests of the United States.

Please make only one expedite request to reduce duplicate efforts and help us use our resources for quicker processing. Multiple requests may delay USCIS’s ability to expedite processing.

Expedite Requests for Travel Documents

If you are requesting expedited processing of a  travel document , you generally need to apply for and obtain the document before you leave the United States. You should make your expedite request on your pending application at least 45 days before you plan to leave the United States. (If you must travel within the next 15 days, see the  Emergency Travel page.)

For most cases, you may request an expedite by contacting the  USCIS Contact Center or by asking Emma.  (You can access Emma by clicking on the Ask Emma icon on the top right of this page). You need to explain why you need expedited processing. You also generally need to provide your receipt number to the USCIS Contact Center so they can send your request to the office that has your application or petition. If you have a USCIS  online account and have access to secure messaging, you may select “expedite” as the reason for your inquiry and submit your request there.

You generally need to justify your expedite request with evidence. When communicating with the Contact Center, you will be asked about supporting documentation. You should be prepared to supply this to the office processing your case.

If you have a USCIS  online account , you should upload evidence through your online account to support your expedite request in addition to calling the USCIS Contact Center. If you send a secure message, we will ask you to confirm that you have uploaded evidence in your account. If we receive an expedite request without evidence to support it, we will send you instructions on how to submit the evidence.

Note: The processes and requirements to request expedited adjudication are different in some circumstances. Refer to the chart under Specific Procedures below for expedite requests related to:

  • Appeals/Motions

Some programs and circumstances have their own processes and requirements for requesting expedited adjudication and may have different expedite criteria. You should follow the specific procedures referenced below for requesting an expedite in the following circumstances:

We receive a large number of expedite requests. We generally send a response to expedite requests that are submitted through the Contact Center. However, to increase efficiency in processing expedite requests, we generally do not provide justification for expedite decisions.

A decision on an expedite request is not an approval or a denial of your underlying benefit request. The expedite decision simply determines whether we will take your benefit request out of order and try to issue a decision (approval or denial) faster than the normal processing time. We cannot make a decision on your benefit request until all processing requirements have been completed.

Some circumstances may prolong or inhibit our ability to expedite certain benefit requests. Examples include, but are not limited to, when:

  • The benefit requestor must perform a certain action or submit additional documentation or evidence related to their benefit request, such as attend a biometric services appointment, be interviewed, or complete any required   immigration medical examination ;
  • There is a required background check that remains pending with a third-party agency;
  • An application or petition requires an on-site inspection; or
  • An application or petition depends on the adjudication of a principal’s application or petition.
