Smart TVs are very popular and pretty much every home will have one somewhere in the house. Apple TV is not a Smart TV, but it can turn an older TV into a Smart TV.

Apple TV is a digital media player that enables you to cast content on your TV. It is a very popular video streaming platform,

The AppleTV device comes with many apps and features, notably being able to browse the web – but it may not seem as apparent as you think, normally you think of a web browser but there is more to it than that…

How To Use Web Browsers For Apple TV

In this article, we will be exploring how you can browse the web with your Apple TV, just as if you were using an Apple TV web browser, and understand the differences compared to other smart TV platforms and why there isn’t specifically a web browser for Apple TV.

No, there is no web browser on Apple TV. You cannot use Safari on the Apple TV or Google Chrome because there isn’t one available on the device. You simply cannot install one at all.

But do not panic! I wouldn’t have done this article if there weren’t other methods to surf the net, would I?

Even if there’s no browser, you can use IPTV apps on Apple TV .

No, unfortunately, Safari web browser doesn’t come installed on Apple TV and there’s no easy way to install it. The easiest way to get Safari on your Apple TV is by using Airplay to cast the screen from an Apple device such as an iPhone, iPad, or any Apple computer.

If you are a tech person and want to play a bit with the code, there’s a way to actually install Safari on your Apple TV, however, it won’t be for everybody!

Because Apple TV is just not designed to work with a browser. The device could run a web browser but Apple wants users to utilize their phones to connect and cast/stream content to the device itself.

Therefore, we can say that there are 2 main reasons:

It is just not convenient to browse the web via a web browser on your TV. The remote is not intuitive and it is hard to navigate with it, so the next best thing is to use your phone as the remote and the Apple TV as the display.

You can cast the web browser of your phone on your AppleTV. A browser is not made available because you can use your phone to Google things and then cast that content to the device through the Apple Mirroring feature – something which we will learn about later in this article.

So the whole idea is to use your phone as the remote and you can pick and choose content to cast to your Apple TV device. It is clear that Apple wants you to use the native apps that come with the device itself.

So, we now understand there isn’t an actual web browser for Apple TV and we understand why Apple wants users to get a better experience by using the apps provided to them and focusing on users utilizing their phones for easier navigation.

So with all this knowledge, let’s go through some of the ways you can cast/stream content to your Apple TV device as if you were using an Apple TV web browser.

1. Native Apple AirPlay

Use Native Apple AirPlay To Use A Web Browser On Apple TV

Airplay is not a web browser and it is not an App that you can download, it is called Apple AirPlay – some of the examples we will be showing, later on, are basically using this feature in the background.

AirPlay is just Apple’s native casting/streaming feature you can use within apps such as YouTube or Netflix etc. You just have to find the AirPlay icon and then select your Apple TV and cast content in a few taps, easy as that.

How To Use AirPlay With Your Apple TV

Here are the simple steps you need to follow to start using AirPlay with your Apple TV via an iOS device:

Connect your iOS device to the same WiFi network . Both your iPhone or iPad etc. need to be connected to the same network as the Apple TV.

Find a video or web page you want to cast . Then look out for the AirPlay icon and tap it.

Tap the AirPlay button . Then you will see a menu that shows your compatible casting devices, hopefully, your Apple TV.

Choose your Apple TV and cast . Your Apple TV should show up in the list of compatible streaming devices, find the correct name like “Living room TV” and select it.

How To Use Airplay To Use Web Browser on Apple TV

Look out for the AirPlay icon above in the apps on your iOS device, you can cast from many different apps like your Photos, the web browsers, YouTube and other streaming services, etc.

By the way, if you are not a fan of Safari, check out what are the best web browsers for iPhone so you can stream your content in the best way.

2. AirBrowser

AirBrowser - A Great Way To Use A Web Browser On Apple TV

A fast and efficient way to use your iPhone or iPad to wirelessly connect to your Apple TV.

As with the other options, this one has a free trial so you can see how it works before you buy it. It has support for gesture control, pinch, and zoom and you can easily do common things like bookmarking and have multiple tabs open.

The touch on your iOS device can act as a pointer on the Apple TV and it will be just as if you were using an Apple TV web browser.

If you have a Mac, it’s probably time to improve your setup! After seeing these beautiful Mac Setups you will for sure start changing yours.

3. Web For Apple TV App

Web For Apple TV - App for Apple TV To Use Web Browser

This iOS app is also installed onto your Apple device like an iPhone or iPad and turns your phone into a fancy smart controller for your Apple TV.

Another app that lets you take over your TV, this one has more advanced gesture control and better support for the iPad.

With this app, it is easy to cast videos and web pages onto the big screen and use your phone as if it were a web browser for Apple TV.

AirWeb - A way to cast a web browser to Apple TV

An app that you can install from the Apple app store on your iPhone or iPad device.

You can use AirWeb for a smooth and frustration-free experience on the web via your Apple TV.

AirWeb will allow you to use your iPhone as the remote control and cast the browser to your Apple TV. As long as your Apple device supports AirPlay Mirroring, then you will have no problems using this app. Turning your TV into a web browser for Apple TV from your phone.

5. HDMI cable to mirror the screen

If you don’t mind using a cable or need faster response times, using the good old HDMI cable is still a way to get Safari (or any other web browser) into your TV without the need for the Apple TV.

In fact, it’s a way not only to get a web browser on your TV but also to mirror anything else you want from your device. From a movie to photos, email, etc. It will duplicate the screen of your device and show it on the TV.

Ideal when casting heavy files such as movies, where the WIFI connection might have trouble transmitting so much data in real-time.

If your external device doesn’t come with an HDMI connection, you can use USB-C to HDMI adapters.

6. Installing tvOSBrowser – An Open Sourced Project

tvOSBrowser - An alternative web browser for your Apple TV

Last but not least, if you are techy or brave enough to get into the dark waters of XCode, then you can give it a try to tvOSBrowser .

tvOSBrowser is an open-source project that allows you to run a basic web browser (using UIWebView) on your Apple TV.

You’ll have to run the project on your Mac and then stream it to your Apple TV (with or without cable), so it’s definitely not the best of the options, but it’s something to consider.

No. The official Google Chrome web browser cannot be used as an Apple TV web browser. This is because Apple does not want its users to install a web browser, the whole idea is to use the built-in casting features via AirPlay.

However, Google Chrome has its own Google Chromecast device which can be used to cast content to your TV and even use your big screen like an Apple TV web browser. You can cast from the Chrome web browser via your phone or computer.

The Chrome web browser has built-in support to cast content directly from a supporting device to the Apple TV.

If you want to cast content from your Mac computer, you might want to check the best web browsers for Mac .

At first, it may seem very confusing or weird as to why the Apple TV doesn’t have an official Apple TV web browser but once you understand the reason, it all makes sense.

A web browser is useful on the TV but the traditional TV remote is not intuitive and easy to navigate with, hence why Apple has refused to include an Apple TV web browser support and instead, focus on their AirPlay casting feature.

So, I hope this article clears up all the confusion and sets you in the right place with the 4 different methods you have, one of them should fit your needs.

For reasons best known to Apple, there is no web browser available on the Apple TV. Despite the fact that the Apple TV runs a version of iOS there is not a version of Safari designed for Apple TV and there is no substitute web browser available in the TV App Store.

But before you drown in disappointment, there are a few ways in which you can surf the web on your Apple TV. Read on to find out how.

We’ll look at three ways in which you can access your favourite websites on your TV screen, including popular TV Catchup channels, FaceBook, Google’s search engine and more. Read about how to watch OnDemand TV channels on Apple TV here .

Method 1: Surf the web on your Apple TV using AirPlay

This is the easiest way to surf the web on the Apple TV. It’s ideal if you want to share the surfing experience with friends and family who are in the room with you, or if what you are looking at on the web would benefit from a bigger screen.

Using Apple’s AirPlay you can stream the screen of your iPhone or your Mac to your TV screen.

Pros: You can see everything that you see on your iPhone or Mac on the TV screen.

Cons: You might as well be looking at your iPhone or Mac screen, and when it comes to scrolling and typing you will be. You won’t be able to use your iPhone for anything else while you are mirroring it’s screen on the TV.

How to view your iPhone screen on your TV

  • Swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone to view Control Centre.
  • Tap on Screen Mirroring
Choose your Apple TV.
  • You may be required to enter an AirPlay code for the Apple TV you are connecting too. This code will appear on the TV Screen attached to the Apple TV.
  • Navigate to Safari on your iPhone and surf the web.
  • If you rotate our iPhone into landscape you should be able to view the web using the full screen of your TV (some apps, like Facebook won’t rotate).

How to view the screen of your Mac on your TV

  • Click on the AirPlay icon from the menu bar at the top of the screen (a triangle pointing into a box)
  • Choose your Apple TV from the options
  • Your Mac display may alter so that it is optimised for the Apple TV (this made everything smaller on our MacBook screen) .
  • There are a few different ways you can set up AirPlay on your Mac and TV screen. You could mirror the Mac screen on the TV, in which case you will see everything on your Mac duplicated over on the TV.
  • However, if you want to surf on your TV screen, while leaving your Mac free to do something else, you can change the arrangement of your screens – this would be ideal if you wanted to stream video to your TV while typing into a Pages document on your Mac at the same time.
  • Open System Preferences > Display and click on Arrangement

safari on apple tv reddit

  • Now based on how you arrange the screens you can drag your Safari (or other browser) window over to the Apple TV screen. To figure our which display is which in the illustration under the Arrangement tab click on the screen and you will see a red outline on the one that represents the Apple TV. Drag in that direction and the browser will appear on your TV screen.
  • You can now use your mouse, or trackpad to scroll around the browser on your TV screen.
  • We find it preferable to use a separate keyboard and mouse because they feel less connected to your Mac and therefore you feel more like you are surfing the web on the TV. Even better if you have a wireless mouse and keyboard. One reason why this feels more natural is that you don’t need to look at your Mac at all while surfing.
  • Remember that you won’t be able to continue using your Mac while someone else surfs the web on the TV screen (or rather you can, but there will be a battle over the mouse and keyboard). It’s the perfect set up for showing video on the TV screen – perhaps something on All4 or another Catch Up TV channel – while using your Mac for something else.

Read more about using AirPlay to stream from your Mac to TV here .

Method 2 – Surf the web using AirBrowser on your iPhone

One issue with surfing the web on your TV screen via your iPhone and AirPlay is the fact that you have to scroll and swipe around on your iPhone so you might as well be doing your surfing on that device rather than the TV. As we said earlier, it’s ideal if you want other people in the room to see what you are looking at, but otherwise, we’re not sure what you really gain.

Here’s where AirBrowser comes in.

Pros: AirBrowser puts a web browser on your TV screen while reserving the iPhone for controls and a keypad. You get a full desktop view of the web pages.

Cons: Not all elements of web pages worked in AirBrowser. Some forms were difficult to fill in if they used multiple choice. It costs £5.

AirBrowser places controls for browsing the web on your iPhone – so you can swipe around the page, or type using the iPhone keyboard, but the actual web page appears on the TV screen.

  • Download AirBrowser from the App Store on your iPhone (it costs £4.99)
  • Open the AirBrowser app.
  • You will be asked to Connect Second Screen, the animation shows you how, except the animation shows how it worked in iOS 10, rather than iOS 11.
  • Swipe up on Control Panel and choose Screen Mirroring.
  • Choose your Apple TV.
  • Now you should see a browser on the TV screen and a url bar on the iPhone. Tap on the URL bar and enter the name of the site you wish to visit, or a search phrase.
  • On the TV screen you will either see the website you wished to visit or the results of your Google search.
  • To scroll down the page swipe upwards with two fingers.
  • To click on a link use one finger to track to the link and tap.
  • To go back to the previous page tap on the back arrow at the top of the iPhone interface.
  • To view all the tabs you have open tap on the central icon that shows 9 dots.
  • You can view the site as it would appear on desktop or mobile by swiping between the two options at the bottom of the page.

We did encounter a few difficulties using AirBrowser. For example when it came to signing in to use services sometimes we weren’t able to because where a site used a multiple choice selection tool for, say, your date of birth or title, it wasn’t possible to select an option.

At other times we found that we couldn’t play video because it was in Flash. The browser seems to fool the site into thinking it’s a Mac, but of course your TV and your iPhone can’t download Flash so you can’t view the content.

safari on apple tv reddit

Another issue we had was when viewing iTV player. We were able to get it to play the content but we weren’t able to select full screen view in order for the video player to fill the TV screen. Instead we were able to increase page size by zooming in (pinch to zoom). We had more success with iTV player than any of the other TV services. On my5 we got a video playback errors.

Method 3 – Using tvOSBrowser to surf the web on your Apple TV

This one is a little more complicated to set up, but essentially gives you a web browser on your Apple TV. You’ll need an Apple Developer account (which is free), Xcode and a USB-C cable or an adapter. If that doesn’t sound like you it probably won’t be worth you reading any further.

Pros: This is the closest you will get to an web browser app for the Apple TV.

Cons: It’s not easy to install and probably isn’t worth the effort.

Of course if you like tinkering with things like this, then go ahead. This would probably interest you too: How to jailbreak an Apple TV.

  • We’ll assume you have a developer account. If not you need to set one up here developer.apple.com/account.
  • Download Xcode from the Mac App Store.
  • Get a USB-A to USB-C cable.
  • Download the source code to tvOSBrowser using Xcode (you can get it from here https://github.com/steventroughtonsmith/tvOSBrowser)
  • This is where it all gets a little complicated. You have to remove some code in order to get the tvOSBrowser to work. We suggest you read this tutorial here .

This Safari extension helps fix my Reddit experience now that Apollo is gone

Make Reddit bearable again.

Winston on iPhone

Browsing Reddit on my iPhone used to be an enjoyable experience. Not by using the official Reddit app, you understand – that was (and still is) a nightmare – but by using the much-beloved Apollo app. Yet since Reddit jealously forced Apollo’s developer to shutter the app, I’ve been left in something of a no man’s land.

Using the Reddit app isn’t really an option, as it’s so full of ads and irritating design features that I’ve long since given up on it. But the other alternative – browsing the site in Safari – has its own problems, mainly relating to those incredibly annoying nagging pop-ups that beg you to launch the official app. We’ve been over this Reddit, your app sucks, I’m not going to use it.

For a long time, I was at a loss for what to do. Until, that is, I discovered a handy little Safari extension called Sink It for Reddit . Install this app, tweak a few options, and your browsing experience is freshened up and made a whole lot more bearable. It’s not quite as good an experience as using Apollo was (but then again, what is?), but it’s lured me back to Reddit without requiring me to shore up the official app’s download count. That alone is a win.

What does Sink It for Reddit do?

Three iPhones side-by-side. On-screen is the Sink It for Reddit app as well as a Reddit page being viewed in the Safari web browser.

Sink It for Reddit automatically removes all of those annoying banners telling you to try the Reddit app. These sections take up significant portions of the screen and interrupt your browsing, but with Sink It for Reddit, they’re gone in a flash.

But it offers much more than just automatic banner banishment. You can block ads and promoted content, hide the navigation bar for a more immersive view, add a ‘back to top’ button so you don’t have to endlessly scroll upwards, and much more.

Some of my favorite tweaks relate to comments. I love that Sink It adds color coding to comment threads, making it very easy to keep track of who is replying to whom. You can add a button that scrolls to the next parent comment in a thread, automatically collapse auto-mod posts, and show images inline instead of seeing <image> tags wherever you look.

There are a bunch of other improvements found in the app, and combined they make Sink It an all-in-one fix-up shop for Reddit. I’ve gotten so used to some of its tweaks that I occasionally forget that they’re not native features, that’s how good it is.

The same developer has also launched Sink It for Twitter/X , which takes a similar approach of nuking X’s most irritating features and making the experience on Safari much more pleasant (well, apart from all the weirdos and vitriol, but that’s well beyond the developer’s remit).

As great as Sink It for Reddit is, it doesn’t quite hit Apollo’s level of greatness. But in a world where Reddit is cracking down on almost any competitors to its own (frankly awful) official app, it’s a welcome addition to my Home Screen. If you’re sick of the way Reddit works but still love its content and community, it’s a great app to try.

How to use Sink It for Reddit

Three iPhones side-by-side, with the Sink It for Reddit app shown on-screen.

  • Once you’ve installed Sink It for Reddit from the App Store , open the Settings app and go to Safari > Extensions . Tap Sink It for Reddit , then enable all the toggles. Make sure reddit.com and Other Websites are also set to Allow in the Permissions section
  • Now, open Sink It for Reddit and tap the red Sink It Settings button . Here you’ll find all of the app’s tweaks divided into categories
  • Try tapping the Comments Upgrades button . Go through the list of adjustments and enable any that catch your eye. All your changes are applied automatically, there’s no Save button you have to press. You can now go to the other settings sections and make any changes you want
  • While most settings are enabled or disabled using a simple toggle, you can also add to your lists of favorite subreddits and banned subreddits using the relevant sections in Sink It’s settings
  • You’ll notice that some settings have colored dots next to them. These indicate which version of Reddit the features are supported on. Green dots refer to the new unified user interface (UI), while yellow ones are for old Reddit only. Red dots work for both old and new UIs on desktop, while blue dots denote support for both old and new UIs on mobile

Apple TV+ not working on Safari

Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6

Safari 14.1.2

Website: https://tv.apple.com/pl

Settings for this website: Enable content blockers is unchecked

I can sign in using my Apple ID and my account is recognised. (And the same account works for Apple TV+ on iPhone.)

Selecting to play any programme brings up the video screen with the play button in the middle. After pressing the play button, the timeline pulses but the video never appears.

It was working fine until a few days ago. No idea what changed in the meantime. Very strange.

What to do?

Same for me, running the same OS/Safari versions as you. Everything worked fine until it didn't. I've switched to Firefox in the meantime, which TV+ appears to work with. I realize that Mojave is ancient, but I have numerous 32-bit apps that I'm not ready to say goodbye to yet.

Hey Flavum,

Same re Mojave something has changed recently (Server Side?) I was just on the phone to  support and still could get nothing to play in Safari. I even tried removing all extensions but no change. However tv+ just worked in the Epic, Brave and Orion Browsers in Mojave.

Then Tried booting into Big Sur and initially it was the same same thing but kept getting an error message, then I was advised to try the  TV App. At first I was getting a dialog stating that my monitor was incompatible (  27" Thunderbolt Display) but then after a while everything just seemed to work both in the stand alone App and Safari.

After booting back into Mojave it was right back to not working again in Safari!

Kinda embarrassing that Apple's own software won't play in it's own Applications but will run just fine on 3rd Party.

YouTube TV now works in Safari on Mac

Phil Nickinson

One of the biggest live TV streaming services in the United States finally works on one of the three major browsers in the world. YouTube TV — before today had been unavailable in Safari on MacOS — now works on Apple’s default browser. ( As spotted by 9to5 Google .)

Previously, going to tv.youtube.com would kick you to a support page on all the other ways to watch YouTube TV if you were trying to do so from Safari. There’s no word on what changed in Safari (or MacOS) to allow YouTube TV to finally be supported, but we’re also not going to look gift horse in the mouth.

All of the usual features are there in Safari, which is exactly what you’d expect to see given that it’s a web-based service in a web browser. You can browse your library, view recommendations and recordings, and scroll through the live menu to see what’s on right that minute.

YouTube is at least the second-largest live streaming service in the U.S., with “more than 3 million” subscribers as of October 2020, which was the last time Google gave any sort of update. Hulu With Live TV reported 3.7 million subscribers as of August 12, 2021, and will give another update on November 10.

  • Yes, YouTube TV is kind of broken tonight
  • Sling TV versus YouTube TV
  • YouTube TV just got even better on iPhones and iPads

YouTube TV also remains available on every major streaming platform, including Roku , Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV , and Google TV . It’s also available on iOS and Android devices.

YouTube TV has a single streaming plan, which runs $65 per month and includes the ability to “record” as much as you want to the service’s cloud storage, and attach up to a half-dozen individual profiles to a single account. YouTube TV also has a handful of optional add-ons, such as HBO Max and Cinemax, a sports package, and more, that further build out the service.

Zee Family is now available on YouTube TV for $15 a month. Phil Nickinson / Digital Trends

YouTube TV is still limited to the U.S., but it just brought a big piece of the world to the streaming service. The Zee Family add-on brings a number of channels from a range of Indian dialects to the service. It costs $15 a month and has a free seven-day trial.

There’s a reason YouTube TV has found itself the leader in live-streaming video. In fact, it has about twice as many subscribers to its cable-TV replacement as the next biggest platform. And. among other reasons like price, reliability, and abundance of channels, it is just packed with features. In fact, YouTube TV has so many features tucked away in there that you’ll be forgiven if you don’t spot them all at first. But we’ve done the legwork. We’ve watched hours and hours of YouTube TV. How to use the new Safari Tabs in macOS 11 Big Sur

William Gallagher's Avatar

The new version of Safari in macOS Big Sur features tabs with previews

safari on apple tv reddit

If you are a disciplined kind of person who only ever has one tab open in your web browser, you will never even notice how Safari has been updated. If you're like the rest of us, though, you're going to very soon spot the biggest improvement in Safari for Big Sur — but you may still not see just how much you can do with tabs.

The new marquee feature is that Safari will now present a large thumbnail preview of any tab you have open in Safari. That's any tab other than the one you're currently in.

Safari with (top to bottom) two tabs open, a few more, and then so many you can't read the titles

How to use Safari's new tab preview

  • Hover your cursor over any tab, other than the current one
  • Wait for a moment
  • When the preview appears, if this is the tab you want, click

This applies to every full-size tab, except the current one. It always works in exactly the same way, too, whether or not you have so many tabs that you can no longer read their titles.

Note that this also works with pinned tabs. These are the ones that you use often and so have chosen to drag to the far left on Safari.

Pinned tabs only ever show up with their favicons, never their full names. So if you pin a lot of tabs, this new preview is particularly useful.

Safari's new preview works with pinned tabs too

Use preview for iCloud tabs too

The preview is only of one tab, though. And there is a way to see more with a similar preview thumbnail of every tab you have open.

In Safari, click on the overlapping squares icon at top right. Or squeeze with two fingers on a trackpad.

What you get appears to be a collection of thumbnail views of every one of your tabs — but it may not be. It's always every tab that you have open in the same Safari window.

So if you have many tabs and also many windows, you can't see a preview of every single web page you have open. Sometimes there's only so much Apple can do to help, you've got to learn some tab-closing discipline.

You can see a preview of all tabs &mdash; so long as they are tabs in the current Safari window

Although if you've started to become self-conscious about how many sites you have open on your Mac, you could always cheat and leave some open only on your iPhone or iPad. This is actually why the all-sites preview feature is called iCloud tabs.

Open tabs from other devices on your Mac

  • In Safari, click the overlapping squares icon at top right
  • Or squeeze two fingers together on a trackpad

Assuming you have an iPhone, iPad, or any other Apple device as well as your Mac, you will now see a list of the Safari tabs you have open there. There isn't a preview, though, there is only a list.

On the good side, each entry on the list is wide enough to show you at least most of a website's title. So finding the one you want is easier than if you just saw a favicon.

Then picking that tab couldn't be even a fraction easier, you just click on it. That tab from Safari on your iPhone or wherever, now opens up on your Mac.

Limitations and oddities with tabs

It's definitely brilliant when you can be at your Mac and open a tab you remember reading earlier on your iPad. It's just that it's less brilliant when you can't.

For some reason, iCloud tabs are inconsistent. At time of writing, for instance, we have a Mac where Safari is insisting that the associated iPhone 12 Pro has only two tabs open. In reality, it has seven.

Similarly, both the Mac and iOS device's iCloud tabs list include an option that in theory closes the tab on the other device. But it doesn't.

You should be able to open Safari tabs from your other devices right there on your Mac.

On the Mac, if you hover over another device's tab in the list, you get an X button. On the iOS device, swiping across the name of another device's tab gets you a red Close button.

In both cases, clicking the X or tapping Close will remove the tab from your list — and do nothing on the other device. It's not as if we're so tidy that we want to remotely clean up our Safari tabs on every Apple device we own, but it's peculiar how the option is there.

You may never notice it, you may never try it, and since it doesn't work anyway, you will never care that you can or can't close tabs on another device. Whereas the inconsistency between what tabs are really open on your iPhone and what your Mac thinks is open, that's more frustrating.

Nonetheless, iCloud tabs work often enough that they are useful. The ability to squeeze out and see previews of all the tabs in your Mac Safari's current window is excellent.

And the brand-new addition of being able to preview any tab, regardless of whether you can read the name or not, is superb.

In most of what I've read, Safari is the best and fastest browser out there for the Mac I am *not* seeing that as the case! Has anyone else noticed the lightning speeds of Edge? Any recent comparisons out there on the interwebs? PS - M$ just passed Apple as the most valued company on the planet.. good on them, they're doing a great job with applying AI everywhere! =)

Edge seems more compatible with occasional websites I've come across. For example, I just bought a Logi MX Mechanical keyboard, and Safari wouldn't show me the download link for the Mac software, and Edge had no problem doing so. Edge has been a much faster browser, in my observation. I could care less about ads and promotions.. and I'm not even sure how you're saying that about a browser? No browser I know of 'pushes ads' and 'promotes scamming websites' - one using browser software always chooses where they go and what they see.

I wish they'd put that under the Help menu so I can check it out on my own terms when I'm not in a hurry. Also, I just got this when I launched Edge a few minutes ago. It may not be an ad in the traditional sense, but it is still an ad (to promote Edge, Bing, Copilot, Microsoft Rewards, etc). Is there a way to disable this? I haven't found it yet. Edge is my second-choice browser and it works great on a couple of websites Safari doesn't seem to like. Hard to verbalize but it just "looks better" to my eyes than Safari. And it updates frequently, and manually. I still use Safari 95% of the time, but Edge is the only other browser on my Macs.

You can install uBlock Origin on Edge (along with any other Chrome-compatible extension), and suddenly the Internet becomes such a happy and ad-free place. 🥰 Meanwhile, Safari extension support, uh... well, it technically exists. It's just not actually any good .

I just wish that Safari would have the tracking and minimized Ads settings just like Edge has it like this below: 1. Off 2. Balanced 3. Strict With the Strict option on my Windows home and work PC, I really see no ads at all. Wish Apple would do the same for Safari. Even Firefox has these settings as well. Still will use Safari rather than Edge on my MBP since it’s not as full of bloated stuff that I don’t use…

Second of all, you have a Siri enabled trackpad remote next to you. I don't see the problem with trying to use Safari with that type of user interface. Especially since it opens up the entire web to you as opposed to what either Apple has approved for the device or what the various services have gotten around to making an app for.

Once you go full screen it might try to relay the raw stream, or send the location of the stream.
