Hindus are known for their passion to celebrate festivals in a grand way. Kumbh Mela Prayagraj 2025 is one such festival admired by the Hindus. The event takes place in major & ancient cities of India named Prayag Raj (earlier Allahabad), Haridwar, Nasik & Ujjain. It usually takes 12 years to get a repeat on the same location except in Prayag Raj and Haridwar. In Prayag Raj and Haridwar, there is an Ardh Kumbh (smaller version of Maha Kumbh) every 6 Years also. The history of Kumbh Mela in India way back to when the earth used to be the staying place for the gods. The Kumbh Mela of Allahabad is going to be held commencing from 14th of January, 2025 till 26th of February, 2025 at the Triveni Sangam in Prayag.

Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board signs 3 MoUs
CM Yogi Adityanath unveiled the logo of UP Eco-Tourism Development Board at Samvaad 2024. We aim to develop Uttar Pradesh as a leading ecotourism destination without damaging our natural resources, including the flora and fauna, said Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh
“Samvad”, an event to deliberate upon the future initiatives and development of eco-tourism in Uttar Pradesh was held yesterday at Lucknow. The event, culminated with signing of three MoUs and was graced by the presence of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and Minister of Tourism and Culture Jaiveer Singh.
This was aimed to bring together experts from different states, stakeholders, and government officials who shared their experiences, discussed possibilities and promoted eco-tourism in Uttar Pradesh, ensuring sustainable development and conservation of the state’s natural heritage. The logo of the Uttar Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board was also unveiled during the event and a short film on eco-tourism was screened.
After the lamp lighting ceremony, the Principal Secretary of Tourism Department, Mukesh Kumar Meshram addressed the inaugural session highlighting the scope and future initiatives of the state in this sector.
Prakhar Mishra, Director of Tourism Department signed three MOUs on the behalf of UP Eco-Tourism Development Board. The first MOU was signed with WII-NMCG for the development of eco-tourism in the Ganga river basin. Another MOU was signed with Ease My Trip. UP Eco-Tourism Development Board also signed an MOU with Birbal Sahni Institute Of Palaeo sciences, Lucknow to promote the Salkhan Fossil Park as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After unveiling the logo of Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated, “Our state is blessed with immense biodiversity. Through the establishment of Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board our aim is to tap the untapped potential in the eco-tourism sector”. He also said, “ development of tourist destinations not only ensures higher tourist footfall in the state but also provides new employment opportunities to the local communities. Just like our spiritual circuit, we are determined to provide significant facilities and better infrastructure in the eco-tourism circuit of UP as well. I assure you /that our government will provide all the support to the stakeholders and enthusiasts of eco-tourism in the state thus ensuring its further development. However, the natural habitat should not be compromised and sustainable development must be the way forward.”
Minister of Tourism and Culture said, “We not only unveiled the logo of the Uttar Pradesh ecotourism Development board, but also contemplated new initiatives, information and attained deep knowledge which will help elevate the ecotourism framework of the state further. Today’s discussions also made it evident that there has been a spike in tourist numbers at these destinations also, wherein Dudhwa National Park, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, Amangarh Tiger Reserve and Katarniya Ghat Wildlife sanctuary remained extremely popular. We are thankful to Honourable CM Yogi Adityanath for providing such a robust base for tourism elevation. Under his leadership, there has been unprecedented progress in the fields of infrastructure, connectivity and law and order in the state.”
He further added that it is our responsibility to protect our environmental ecosystem for our future generations. “We aim to develop Uttar Pradesh as a leading ecotourism destination without damaging our natural resources, including the flora and fauna. Other than this, we also share the responsibility of supporting the native tribes and local communities living around these destinations, by giving them livelihood opportunities and better living conditions through tourism development in a sustainable manner.”
Five interactive sessions were held throughout the day on the future and prospects of ecotourism in Uttar Pradesh including experts and stakeholders in the discussion panel. The sessions were based on topics relevant to eco-tourism and wildlife including ‘Uttar Pradesh:The Land of Majestic Tigers’, ‘Uttar Pradesh:Cradle Of Indian Ornithology, Uttar Pradesh: Pristine Landscapes And Beyond;’ ‘Uttar Pradesh: Ex-Situ Conservation and Ecotourism and ‘Learning Exchanges With Experts: Pathways, Signposts and Milestones’
Dr. Arun Kumar, State Minister (Independent Charge) of Forest and Environment, Zoo, and Climate Change Department, U.P. said, “Uttar Pradesh is blessed with abundance of natural resources and we must protect it along with developing eco-tourism destinations in the state”
AYUSH Minister Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’ said, “We are ready to provide all the support to the Department of Tourism and Eco-tourism Development Board to promote eco tourism destinations of the state and provide high class facilities to the visitors in the field of Wellness Tourism as well.”
Various stakeholders and eminent personalities of this field were also felicitated before the conclusion of the event. Also there was a small exhibition at the event displaying various art and crafts of the state. Local artists also came to perform the various traditional dances of Uttar Pradesh

In a significant decision to promote tourism and enrich forest cover, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday cleared a proposal to constitute the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board. The board will work for the development and management of tourism infrastructure facilities in the permissible area outside the forest sanctuaries of the state.
The board, which will be headquartered in Lucknow, will have Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as its chairman. The members of the eco-tourism development board will be of two types: Government (ex-officio) members and special duty members. Agriculture minister, Forest minister, AYUSH minister, Finance minister, Tourism minister, Irrigation minister, Rural Development minister, Chairman Uttar Pradesh Forest Corporation, Chief Secretary, Principal Chief Conservator and Head of Department will be members of the board and Additional Chief Secretary/ Principal Secretary/ Secretary will be member secretary of tourism board.
Additional Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary Environment, Forest and Climate Change would act as the coordinator. Representatives of IRCTC, Sashastra Seema Bal Uttar Pradesh, World Wildlife Fund India, Bombay Natural History Society, Turtle Conservation Fund, Katarniaghat Foundation, and five nominated environment and tourism experts will be part of the board as special invitees.
In addition, two other reputed institutions working in the field of environment as special invitees will be selected for every two years. The eco-tourism executive committee will be headed by Chief Secretary and Member Secretary (ex-officio), Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary/Secretary, Tourism (for wildlife protected areas and forest areas) and Member Secretary Director General Tourism (for various tourist places/remaining areas of the state outside the forest area). The Executive Committee will be responsible for the action required to meet the objectives of the board.
The board will work towards activities such as trekking, hiking, cycling, caravan tourism, seaplane and river cruise, adventure tourism, along with undertaking development of hotels, resorts and infrastructure facilities, ballooning, jungle camping and also wellness tourism such as Ayurveda, Yoga, naturopathy for the development of the eco-tourism sector.
It may be noted that Uttar Pradesh has nine eco-tourism circuits including Western Wildlife Circuit, Brij Bhoomi Wildlife/Wetland Circuit, Eastern Wildlife Circuit, Tiger Circuit, Bundelkhand Circuit, Vindhya Forest Circuit, Ganga Basin/Earth Ganga, Western Ornithology/Wetland Circuit and Central Ornithology/Wetland Circuit etc.
Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister, Jaiveer Singh , said, “In view of the immense potential of eco-tourism in the state, the Uttar Pradesh eco-tourism development board is being formed in coordination with 10 departments including tourism, forest environment and climate change, AYUSH department, rural development, irrigation, urban development, agriculture, horticulture, sports, and transport, with the aim of making Uttar Pradesh as the top destination for both Indian and foreign tourists.”
While infrastructure development would also be explored through Public-Private Partnership (PPP), eco-tourism zones, the proposed board would undertake training and booking of guides with the help of the forest department for jungle safari.

New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board (UPETDB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EaseMyTrip, an online travel platform, to promote and develop tourism in Uttar Pradesh, the company informed the exchange in a filing on Monday.
This partnership will utilize EaseMyTrip’s extensive reach and technology to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s rich eco-tourism offerings. The company will actively promote all registered homestays in Uttar Pradesh on its website.
“We are excited to partner with EaseMyTrip, a leading online travel tech platform in India. This collaboration leverages their extensive reach and technological expertise to bring greater visibility and accessibility to the diverse and rich eco-tourism offerings of Uttar Pradesh. We are confident that this partnership will drive significant growth and elevate UP as a premier destination for both domestic and international tourists,” said Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism & Culture, UP.
EaseMyTrip also announced plans for a dedicated promotional campaign to make homestays a preferred accommodation option for travelers visiting the state. Additionally, the company will create educational products about bird sanctuaries, inspired by successful examples like Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
These educational products will be promoted in schools, colleges, and other institutions through advanced tour guides. These tour guides will receive special training designed by EaseMyTrip and officially registered under UPETDB to enhance the tourist experience.
According to the agreement, EaseMyTrip will also develop and market custom tourism packages showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s unexplored destinations, cultural experiences, local cuisine, and traditional crafts.
The company will feature homestays as a key part of the overall tourism experience and promote the state’s tiger reserves, including Dudhwa, Pilibhit, Amangarh, and Ranipur Tiger Reserve. UPETDB will support the promotion of EaseMyTrip’s microsites on various social media channels.

UP Cabinet approves setting up of tourism board

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval for setting up an eco-tourism development board to fully utilise the tourism potential of the state.
The board will be headed by the state chief minister with ministers of 10 departments as its members, Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh told newspersons here.
The need for the board was being felt for long and a decision to set it up was taken at the meeting presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said.
The minister said the board will help the state attract domestic and international tourists.
There are vast historical, cultural, religious heritage and natural resources in the state needing proper publicity, which will be done through this board, he said.
Ten departments included in the board are tourism, forest, AYUSH, rural development and irrigation, urban development, agriculture, horticulture, sport and transport.
The chief secretary of the state will be its member secretary and experts from prominent institutions will also be included in this.
The tourism minister said the state has a forest cover of 16, 582 sq km with beautiful landscapes, flowing rivers, waterfalls, availability of endangered birds and animals.
The state has 36 wildlife sanctuaries, 12 bird sanctuaries, nine state eco-tourism circuits which can be fully exploited, he said.
In another decision, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet gave its nod to start a night safari in the Lucknow’s Kukrail forest area and also shift a city zoo there.
Without disturbing around 2,027 hectares forest area, the Cabinet has decided to set up a night safari on 350 acres and a zoo on 150 acres there, the minister said.
Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Park is currently spread over 26 hectares.
Without disturbing the vegetation and other things, only the open area that is not in use presently will be utilised for the night safari, the minister said, adding that the outer area of the forest will get four-lane roads.
There are also plans to develop an attractive river front on the Kukrail river flowing in the area, he said.
The Cabinet also approved upgrading Food Craft Institute in Aligarh for preparing skilled workforce, the minister added.

UP cabinet approves setting up of eco-tourism development board
Eco-tourism infrastructure would be developed on public private partnership model and guides for jungle safaris would be trained with the help of forest department.
LUCKNOW The state cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval for setting up an eco-tourism development board, with headquarters in Lucknow, for the development and management of infrastructure facilities in forests and in outer areas of wildlife sanctuaries.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the meeting of the state cabinet that approved the setting up of the board. The structure of the board would include an executive committee besides the eco-tourism board being set up to attract international tourists to Uttar Pradesh.
Eco-tourism infrastructure would be developed on public private partnership model and guides for jungle safaris would be trained with the help of forest department.
The CM would be the chairman of the board that would have ex-officio and special invitees as members. Ministers for agriculture, forests, ayush, finance, tourism, irrigation, rural development, chairman of UP Forest Corporation, chief secretary, chief wildlife warden and head of forest department would also be its members. Additional chief secretary/principal secretary and secretary (tourism) would be secretary of the board while the ACS/principal secretary/secretary environment, forest and climate change would work as the board’s coordinators.
Uttar Pradesh has a national park, 26 wildlife sanctuaries and 12 bird sanctuaries.
INSTITUTE OF HOTEL MGMT
The state cabinet gave its nod to a proposal to upgrade Food Craft Institute, Aligarh as State Institute of Hotel Management. It approved the proposal to provide subsidy being given to the food craft institute to the upgraded institute. Approval was also given to a proposal for creation of new posts in the upgraded institute that would run 17 categories of graduate, post- graduate and diploma courses for 1,700 youths.
HANDLOOM POLICY
The state cabinet approved a proposal to extend the validity by three months of Uttar Pradesh Handloom, Powerloom, Silk, Textiles and Garmenting Policy-2017. The policy was valid up to July 12, 2022.
MANDHATA BAZAR
The state cabinet approved a proposal for setting up of Nagar Panchayat Mandhata Bazar in Pratapgarh. It also approved a proposal for expansion of Mungra Badshahpur Nagar Palika Parishad, Jaunpur.
FIRE STATION IN RAMPUR
The state cabinet approved a proposal for transfer of 7,500 sq m land of urban development department for setting up a fire station in Rampur and construction of residential and non-residential buildings there.

New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board (UPETDB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EaseMyTrip, an online travel platform, to promote and develop tourism in Uttar Pradesh, the company informed the exchange in a filing on Monday.
This partnership will utilize EaseMyTrip's extensive reach and technology to showcase Uttar Pradesh's rich eco-tourism offerings. The company will actively promote all registered homestays in Uttar Pradesh on its website.
"We are excited to partner with EaseMyTrip, a leading online travel tech platform in India. This collaboration leverages their extensive reach and technological expertise to bring greater visibility and accessibility to the diverse and rich eco-tourism offerings of Uttar Pradesh. We are confident that this partnership will drive significant growth and elevate UP as a premier destination for both domestic and international tourists," said Jaiveer Singh, Minister of TourismCulture, UP.
EaseMyTrip also announced plans for a dedicated promotional campaign to make homestays a preferred accommodation option for travelers visiting the state. Additionally, the company will create educational products about bird sanctuaries, inspired by successful examples like Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
These educational products will be promoted in schools, colleges, and other institutions through advanced tour guides. These tour guides will receive special training designed by EaseMyTrip and officially registered under UPETDB to enhance the tourist experience.
According to the agreement, EaseMyTrip will also develop and market custom tourism packages showcasing Uttar Pradesh's unexplored destinations, cultural experiences, local cuisine, and traditional crafts.
The company will feature homestays as a key part of the overall tourism experience and promote the state's tiger reserves, including Dudhwa, Pilibhit, Amangarh, and Ranipur Tiger Reserve. UPETDB will support the promotion of EaseMyTrip's microsites on various social media channels.

EaseMyTrip signs MoU with Uttar Pradesh EcoTourism Development Board to boost tourism in state
O nline travel tech platform EaseMyTrip.com on Monday announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttar Pradesh EcoTourism Development Board (UPETDB) under the Government of Uttar Pradesh, in charge of executing promotional and tourism activities.
The MoU was signed in the presence of UP’s Minister of Forest and Environment, Zoological Garden, Climate Change, Arun Kumar Saxena and Minister of Ayush, Food Security, and Drug Administration, Dayashankar Mishra.

The objective of the MoU, the company added, is to foster a strategic partnership aimed at elevating the promotion and development of tourism in Uttar Pradesh. Under this collaboration, EaseMyTrip will actively promote all registered homestays in Uttar Pradesh on its online portal. The brand will also execute a dedicated promotional campaign to position homestays as a distinctive and preferred accommodation option for travellers visiting the state. Additionally, EaseMyTrip will develop educational products related to bird sanctuaries, drawing insights from successful case studies such as Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. “These products will be promoted in schools, colleges, and other institutions through advanced tour guides. These tour guides will have access to training programs which will be officially registered under UPETDB and designed by EaseMyTrip to enhance the tourist experience,” it said. EaseMyTrip will also curate and market bespoke tourism packages showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s unexplored destinations, cultural experiences, culinary delights, and traditional crafts.
