The 1975 are back at, by their own admission, their very best.
The influential pop-rock group, comprising Matty Healy, George Daniel, Adam Hann and Ross MacDonald, are taking their 2022 Number 1 album Being Funny In A Foreign Language on tour across the UK and Ireland this summer.
Their fifth-consecutive Number 1 LP in the UK, Being Funny In A Foreign Language saw Matty and co. team up with producer du jour Jack Antonoff for a body of work that sticks to the band's core '80s-inspired sound, deepening it in interesting new directions.

MORE: Where every The 1975 song and album charted in the UK
See the setlist for the tour in full below. The show takes tracks from each of the band's respective eras - their influential eponymous debut, 2016 mainstream pop breakthrough I like it when you sleep for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it, 2018's analytical A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and 2020 scattershot Notes On A Conditional Form.
It seems like you're in for a real treat each night at the tour too, with Matty's performances frequently going viral. What will he do this time? Kiss a fan? Maybe eat some raw meat again? Bring out Taylor Swift again?
Always keeping us on our toes, that one.

The 1975: At Their Very Best Tour Live in Bangkok 2023
The most on-demand British band is heading back to Bangkok next year!
Time Out says
Hope you have a big concert fund ready for this, because The 1975 is coming back to Bangkok in April next year!
The alt-pop band from Manchester is set to bring their At Their Best tour to Thailand on April 4, 2023 at Impact Arena. Brought to you by up-and-coming live music organizer Mangosteenfest , the upcoming show is a highly anticipated one for The 1975's fans after the band has returned to the global music scene with the release of their fifth album Being Funny in a Foreign Language .
Like their previous records, Being Funny in a Foreign Language has received acclaim from critics and fans alike thanks to their sonic departure to a more stripped down sound assisted by mega producer Jack Antonoff (whose past work includes wide-ranging collaborations with Taylor Swift, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, and St. Vincent).

Tickets will be on sale via Ticketmelon from November 2 onwards, with the price ranging from B2,500 to B6,500.

Asia Launches 2024 Summer Tour: Set List, Video
Asia played its first proper concert since 2019 on Wednesday evening (July 3) in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The performance launched the band’s summer tour and unveiled a new lineup who quickly revealed they were well-equipped for the task.
The British group’s eponymous 1982 debut , now over 40 years removed from its original release, figured heavily in the night’s set list with seven of its nine tracks getting feature time. It’s hardly surprising seeing as the album went to No. 1 on Billboard’s album charts, driven by the success of three major singles. Songs like the now-signature “ Heat of the Moment ,” plus “ Only Time Will Tell ” and “ Sole Survivor ” helped Asia sell more than four million copies.
But it caught the members themselves off guard at the time. “When we finished the album, none of us knew how successful it was going to be,” co-founder and keyboardist Geoff Downes told UCR prior to the tour start. “We all felt we’d made a good album, but you never know until you start getting played on every single radio station in America. All of the sudden, the album is flying up the charts.”
Who’s In Asia Now?
The current lineup of Asia was born out of the Extraordinary Life Memorial Concert , a 2023 tribute to late frontman John Wetton , who died in 2017 after a cancer battle. Vocalist Harry Whitley had the difficult task of stepping into Wetton’s position that day, something he handled admirably, according to Downes, who noted that “he really, really raised some eyebrows.” Guitarist John Mitchell worked with both Wetton and Downes in Icon and the John Wetton Band. Drummer Virgil Donati, well-known in the progressive rock circles, also has ties to Wetton, having been part of a successful reunion for ’70s prog rockers U.K. Original guitarist Steve Howe , still currently with Yes , has been out of the Asia mix since 2013, while drummer Carl Palmer was unavailable for the dates due to commitments with his Emerson, Lake and Palmer tribute.
While some fans pushed back regarding the legitimacy of the new lineup prior to the tour, Lisa Wetton, the singer’s widow, quickly released a statement of support . “John himself would have endorsed this tour, because he wanted the music to live on.”

How Asia Is Honoring John Wetton’s Memory
As Downes relates, Whitley was the crucial missing piece. “The amazing thing was, when everyone started playing, it just sounded so alive. Harry is a dead ringer for John in many ways in terms of his vocal delivery and his general presentation,” he explained. He was a real find.”
“It seemed like a very, very nice way of paying tribute to John as much as anything else. You know, the idea that we could put together this team of musicians that would really do justice to Asia’s music,” he added. “John’s always in my mind. Obviously, I had a fantastic friendship and writing relationship with John. We broke down some walls with our writing. It was always a very inspirational day spent writing with John. I cherish those memories.”
The Heat of the Moment trek continues on Saturday in Medford, Massachusetts.

Update (July 12): This article has been updated with The Doobie Brothers’ latest setlist.
The Doobie Brothers are rockin’ down the highway across North America for The 2024 Tour . After reuniting for their massive 50th Anniversary Tour, the classic lineup of Pat Simmons, Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald and John McFee is takin’ it to the streets once again for a coast-to-coast trek that keeps you runnin’ through October.
The 2024 Tour kicks off at The Forum in Inglewood, California on June 23. The band will use the new circuit to keep on rollin’ to new stages such as New York’s Madison Square Garden on August 7, while also making return visits to Denver’s Ball Arena on August 29, White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington on September 6 and more. In May, the group announced an additional six dates in Canada, pushing the closing night to October 16 in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Find everything you need to know beyond “Listen to the Music” to get ready for The 2024 Tour, including how to get The Doobie Brothers tickets , below.
Who are The Doobie Brothers?
The Doobie Brothers are a two-time Grammy-winning band that formed in San Jose, California in 1970. Starting as a quartet, the group’s lineup has changed and expanded several times over their more than five-decade career, though they still managed to blend various influences from rock, jazz, R&B, pop, soul and folk harmonies into a distinct, slick sound later dubbed “yacht rock.” Since sharing their self-titled debut album in 1971, the band has released 15 studio albums, six of which have gone platinum, and 16 Top 40 singles, including their two Hot 100 chart-toppers, 1974’s “Black Water” and 1979’s “What a Fool Believes.” More hits like “Listen to the Music” and “Long Train Runnin'” were compiled on 1976’s Best of The Doobies , which became their first diamond record. Overall, The Doobie Brothers have sold more than 40 million records worldwide.
The group disbanded in 1982, but have reunited on multiple occasions. In 2020, nine members of The Doobie Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and recommenced touring together a year later for the 50th Anniversary Tour. The current lineup features founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons as well as keyboardist and vocalist Michael McDonald and guitarist John McFee, who joined the band in 1975 and 1979, respectively.

What to Know for The Doobie Brothers’ The 2024 Tour
The 2024 Tour continues the celebratory spectacle of the 50th Anniversary Tour, which spanned nearly 150 shows in North America, Asia and Australia between 2021 and 2023. While its predecessor marked the first shows featuring the lineup of Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, Pat Simmons and John McFee in over 25 years, The 2024 Tour will find the group building on their freshly road-fueled chemistry.
Along with signature Doobie Brothers songs like “Jesus is Just Alright,” “China Grove” and “Takin’ It to the Streets,” the group have also made a habit of teasing their past Steely Dan ties — via McDonald and former guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter — with a recurring cover of the band’s 1974 single “Pretzel Logic.” While The Doobies take front-and-center vocally, the stage is completed by their longtime touring band led by bassist John Cowan, drummer Ed Toth, percussionist Marc Quiñones and saxophonist Marc Russo.
Is There an Opening Act for The 2024 Tour?
The 2024 Tour will feature Grammy-winning blues outfit Robert Cray Band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Steve Winwood on select dates.

I saw them play at the Starlite Room in Edmonton which is a small, slightly sketchy venue downtown that I personally love. It holds about 300 people probably. My best friend and I got there to wait outside in line about 7 hours before doors opened to guarantee that we got close to the stage, which we did. But the whole time we were waiting, all of the band members were walking in and out of the front doors, or they would linger around the venue. At one point I ran to the Tim Hortons down the street to grab something to eat, and I was behind George.. Like it was insane.
But anyways , the show.
My friends and I were in the front left of the stage. And at Starlite, they have no barriers so you're pressed right up against the stage. Sirsly came on first, which I hadn't heard of them before the show. They did an incredible job opening the show. Next was Bad Suns, which I left the show being a huge fan of them. They have the perfect young alternative rock feel. They did a wonderful job connecting to the crowd and their whole set just flew by. I was lucky enough to meet them after the show to chat with and they were such lovely guys. And next was the 1975. The word to describe how great of a show these guys put on is something beyond my vocabulary. They are edgy, raunchy, loud and extreme. I have always fancied the lead singer Matt Healy, and he knows just how to work the crowd. He loves to tease, chat and just flaunt himself at everyone. There was no equipment set up in front of my friends and I, so we had lots of opportunities where the band members would come right up to us. A moment that was a highlight for me was during Talk! Matty knelt down grabbed my hand and sang the line, "I've been thinking lots about your mouth.' It was a big deal for me. HAHAHA. But I could honestly write for hours about these guys. Their connection with everyone was undeniable. I'd say my favourite song to see like was probably "Sex". Its the last song they performed and Matty introduced it saying, "this song is about fucking each other." But its incredible to see live where everyone knows all the words and just goes insane, including the band.
Then after the show, the band came out and met every single person who waited. It was magical. Matt was the first to come out and because of how calm he was, the crowd literally waited in close to silence. No screaming or fan-girling. It was sweet to see him take his time with every single fan. He gave everyone hugs and listened to everything they had to say. I explained to him how much the bands music meant to me personally and he gave me three hugs and seemed so gracious to hear everything I had to say. Honestly, he is an angel. I didn't have the chance to meet the members sadly but next time i guess.
Anyways, never pass up an opportunity to see these guys... ever. Its been almost 2 1/2 months and the post concert depression is stronger than ever.

My first concert. My favourite band.
Belsonic music festival is an intimate venue so I was in touching distance of the foursome. As the intro played in, the crowd erupted as we caught the first sight of Ross (bass guitar), followed by George (drums), Matty (vocals) and finally Adam (rhythm guitar). The boys filed on to 'Love Me' and got the party started. Favourites from both albums followed such as 'A Change of Heart' and 'Menswear'.
As the sky began to darken Matty decided it was time to address the audience, cigarette in hand. Stating he loved Belfast and reminiscing about the time they first played Belfast to only 25 people, I could hear loyal fans shouting, "we were there! We were there!" Matty continued to talk about the world and how a 'revolution' was imminent, saying that it looked a lot more "emo these days". I tried to capture his little speech on my phone like many others, when Matty told us all to put our phones down for one minute, telling us we would "enjoy the next ten minutes much more than if it was on our iPhone." The sea of people dropped their devices (me included) and swayed to the transcendent sound of 'Me'.
The second half of the show was truly electric with a rainbow flashing on stage to 'Loving Someone' as two shared a kiss to my left. Then came the ever a party starter 'Girls' and 'She's American'. The true spectacle of the night was 'Sex' however, a light show in its own right, and a religious experience.
Finishing their set the crowd chanted, "one more song! One more song!" The guys obliged and then some, coming back out to play three scintillating tracks: the hymn - like 'If I Believe You', the classic 'Chocolate' and banging 'The Sound'.
The 1975 are a band that not only perform with such energy track after track, but put on an impressive light show and with a prophetic front man foretelling the future, I would recommend anyone witness their excellence for themselves.
Well lets just say this: They rocked it but it didn't start out that way.
First let me say that I am 51 and have been going to live shows, big and small, for 35 years. So, I saw Depeche Mode way back in the day and this show felt very much like what I saw back in the 80's. For you younger ones, and The1975 fans, you will really enjoy it but for the first half of the show, I felt like I was watching Depeche.
The "show" and set are really cool. I have never seen any light show like that before but the problem was that the entire band basically stayed in place and left the "entertaining" part to the lead singer. I have no problem with that but I felt sorry for him as this was their first time in Red Rocks and for those of you who don't know, while it is an amazing venue, it is pretty hight in altitude and every band that comes through complains about not being able to breath. You could see that it was a struggle but he was still awesome and pulled it off.
The sound was great! The band was very tight and way better than what I saw on SNL. I am not a huge fan of their new stuff because I became a huge fan back in 2014 when I saw them at a small club in San Diego. But the new stuff was still good and it made the end great because they finally got to the rocking out.
The opening acts, The Japanese House and Wolf Alice were really good opening act and Wolf Alice now has a new fan in me.
To sum it up, they did a good job headlining and it was totally worth the time and money but unless you are a The1975 fan, you may feel wanting during the first half. Make sure you stay for the end!
The 1975 was amazing live. I've been to several concerts and I can easily say that this concert was one of the best ones I've ever been to. I love their music. I think they're a very unique and talented band, and it amazes me how the different instruments and sounds blend together perfectly to create a beautiful song telling a beautiful story.
Matty Healy was the one who mainly talked to us, and the things he did on stage were incredible. There were beautiful moments such as during a song called "Me", he asked everyone to put their phones away and just enjoy the music, and then during the second half of the song, he asked everyone to turn the flashlight on on their phone, and wave it in the air to the song. It was such a beautiful sight.
At some point in the concert, he kindly asked everyone to take a step back because the people in front were getting squashed. He also went backstage for a while to get water for the people in the audience who were dying of thirst. He also said some funny things such as "the weather does horrible things to my hair". I just think that Matty is such a genuine, kind and great man.
Apart from Matty's great character, the music was really good, and all 4 band members put on an amazing show. There were more upbeat tracks such as "Girls" and "Sex" which got everyone pumped and dancing, interchanged with groovy instrumentals and slow, sad songs such as "Fallingforyou" and "Me" which touched the audience. Great music, great band, and great live.
The 1975 is one band you definitely should catch live.
This concert was certainly a shock.
I had seen the 1975 about a year ago at Ally Pally and although that was a good concert, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would and that meant that I didn't have high hopes to see them again this time.
However I was proved wrong.
The concert was absolutely awesome! Travel to the venue was straightforward and not too busy for starters and waiting in the cold for 2 hours was not as cold as I had feared. I was standing and although I wasn't that close to them, the venue had a slanted floor, so the combination of this and my highest heels allowed for a good view.
Everyone there tended to be the same age as me or older, that is over seventeen, and I felt that this added to the experience as we were all as excited and into the music as each other.
There was some moshing and although I tried to avoid it at first, I joined the pit during "Sex" and that was definitely the right choice; although it was very violent and fast and probably dangerous, it was loads of fun and got me into the music and got me right to the front!
The boys' playing was just brilliant, they really made us all get completely hypnotised by the music and they played some of their new album which sounded great. Matty looked really fit and shoutout to the guy on the sax, he was absolutely wicked!
They were just brilliant so as soon as I got home I bought a ticket to see them again in March hahaha. Definitely recommend!
The 1975's Melbourne show was insanely energetic even though Matty was apparently not feeling 100%. You wouldn't have known that he'd tweeted the night before apologising for being sick and mentioning that People might be dropped off the setlist due to his voice not being able to cope. Luckily, it was not dropped and proved an amazing opening song to get everyone up and dancing. There were three songs which really stood out over the course of the show: firstly, Love It If We Made It. It was apt that the climate strike had taken place the actual day that the Melbourne show was on, so Matty took it upon himself to do a little spiel about climate change which was (as usual) inspiring. The song itself was full of energy and great staging. Love Me sounded much better live than in studio which was a surprise for me! Finally, Sex was absolutely fantastic: everyone was screaming every word and Matty jumping up and down on stage. My only issue was that Girls was taken off the setlist which is understandable seeing as they're probably sick to death of playing it but I think they owe it to everyone to play their classics like Girls (Arctic Monkeys would never drop Do I Wanna Know despite Alex constantly complaining about how he's sick of it nor would Green Day drop American Idiot!). Genuinely an 8.5/10 and a fantastic night. (Matty in the pleated skirt was also a highlight!!!)
I attended the 1975 concert at LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH. This is a great venue that is standing room only. The pit at the front of the stage is always crowded and filled with fans ready for a good show. 1975 delivered!! The guys used the stage and interacted well with the crowd. They got everyone involved and singing along. They were all dressed in black pants and various black shirts. They used a nice back drop of the single lighted rectangle from the album art. The stage lighting was great and they used lots of smoke along with the lights to really highlight the band members.
They opened with The City which was truly awesome, they played a long intro to it to get the crowd really riled up! At one point they had the crowd hold up all their cell phones like lighters, it seemed like a special moment for them and they appreciated the large crowd in attendance. The highlight of the show was definitely their current hit song Chocolate.
Set list included, Milk, M.O.N.E.Y., So Far (It's Alright), Talk, She Way Out, Settle Down, Heart Out, Me, fallingforyou, You, Girls, Robbers, and Sex. Overall a great show and one of the better live shows I have seen.
From Vancouver, BC. PNE Forum May 1, 2017.
First opening band was Colouring, and I have to give them kudos for a job well done! I might be searching for their tunes. Second opening band instrumentals and music were good, but I was not a fan of the vocals.
On to The 1975: THANK YOU for an INCREDIBLE SHOW! The light show was AMAZING! STILL the best I have EVER seen! Matty kept all his attire on, lit up, and I swear there was a bottle of beer and a couple of wine glasses on stage. He danced on the piano and beckoned the sexy sax player. Mesmerizing. Merch was stocked! Unfortunately they did not carry the rose gold necklace I wanted. Set list was a mix of both albums and Medicine. He played 'Me' after kindly asking to put our phones away. Live in the moment for a memory no one else needs to know. Also played 'Robbers' after mentioning he'd never play it again, but they'll play it anyway. I was surprised how ok the acoustics were in the cement building of the PNE Forum. My friend and I had a tonne of fun! If you want a band that can give hot, steamy, sultry sex to your eyes and ears, see this band. MUSIC FOR CARS 2018!!!!
I have been a huge fan since their debut album, and last night got to see The 1975(first time) at the LC Pavilion in Columbus Ohio.Swim Deep opened for them and there was much anticipation and waiting for The 1975 to come on stage. There was a sensual smoky sound then the lights turned out and BOOM! They came out and killed the show with "Love Me". I'm 35 and I was sweating, singing, yelling and had the time of my life at this concert.Thier music is something special my 17 year old daughter and I share the same love for. Every damn song was phenomenal with the lights and screens.Matty interacted with the crowd throughout the night while sipping his wine. The long line outside, the standing was worth it in the end. Everyone loves The 1975, all ages and backgrounds it was exhilarating singing to all the songs with the crowd. They put on such an mind blowing show beginning to end. You can definitely feel the love.I can't wait for the new album, and the 2016 tour. When I listen to them I get lost in my feelings with thier atmospheric, sexy vibe. Great show from my favorite guys.
Starting with the opening act, it was really good DJ set.
The 1975 is band you shouldn't miss live. Really energetic even during slow songs. They're perfect live, as if you were listening to the album but with an extra vibe.
For this tour they have huge led screens everywhere with great graphics setting up the mood which is awesome and not usual as some bands do have led screens alternating graphics and live shots of themselves.
In one point of the concert I guess in one side of the Golden Circle people started pushing too hard against the barricade and Matt (front man) told them to hush and move two steps backwards, i guess there were some girls in trouble because he kept asking if someone was ok. He really cares about the fans, most artist would've let security handle it as they watched horrified.
This is one of my favorites bands and for sure they're awesome! So if you know too little this guy's go ahead and listen to more songs and watch videos and if they're coming on tour somewhere near you go see them live ;)

Bob Dylan fans have long thought that the 1974 live double album “Before the Flood” was an insufficient record of the historic tour he did earlier that year with the Band as his backing group. But just how insufficient? Like, 400 tracks’ worth of insufficiency?
Dylan followers’ taste for completeness will be put to the test — a test many will pass with flying colors — this fall when Sony Music issues “Bob Dylan — The 1974 Live Recordings,” a boxed set that includes all or part of 27 Dylan performances from the tour, spread across that many CDs. It comes out via Columbia/Legacy on Sept. 20.
Popular on Variety
Related stories, ai terms remain vague as iatse releases its tentative basic agreement summary, 'amelie,' 'the intouchables' will be re-released with english subtitles during olympic games.
To herald the coming of the boxed set, the label issued a previously unreleased performance of “Forever Young” on Tuesday, taken from an afternoon show in Seattle on Feb. 9, 1974. (Several of the sets captured in the collection were matinees, something that was clearly much more in vogue 50 years ago than it is now.)
There’s an interesting wrinkle for vinyl collectors. Clearly, a full release of the content in LP form is not in the cards, since it would probably entail at least a 50-disc boxed set. But Jack White’s Third Man Records is issuing a condensed vinyl iteration — a three-LP set (augmented by one 7-inch single) that will contain one specially selected version of each song performed on the tour that was not previously represented on the “Before the Flood” album. This green-vinyl companion volume is titled “The 1974 Live Recordings — The Missing Songs From Before the Flood.” Fans who want it will need to sign up for Third Man’s quarterly Vault subscription service by July 31. (Scroll down to see the full track list for the limited vinyl release.)
Liner notes have been penned by Elizabeth Nelson, who doubles as a well-regarded rock critic as well as frontperson of the band the Paranoid Style. (Read her recent assessment of Dylan’s 1975 “Desire” album, published in Pitchfork, here .)
Ray Padgett, a Dylan Substack writer and author of the book “Pledging My Time: Conversations with Bob Dylan Band Members,” put the announcement in context on his X (formerly Twitter) feed: “It’s pretty much the holy grail for ’74 fans. 21 of these soundboards tapes are never-before-circulated. That’s an insane number. Only 5 soundboards were already circulating… The soundboards come from both 16-track tape (the shows recorded for Before the Flood) and more basic 1/4” tape and cassette. But Before the Flood was taken almost entirely from the final 2 LA shows. So the multitracks of NYC, Seattle and Oakland have mostly never been heard… Most excitingly, many of the new soundboards come from early dates when setlists were wilder. As the tour went on, things began to stagnate in both song choice and performance (energy substituting for nuance). But the first couple weeks are special. Better than Before the Flood.”
But, as Padgett and some other Dylan fans immediately lamented, the box does not include the sets that were performed by the Band, sans Dylan, on the tour each night — incalculably large as their inclusion would have made the set, among other artistic, legal or logistical factors likely standing in the way of including the Band material.
Notably, the “1974 Live Recordings” CD set is not being marketed as part of the ongoing Dylan “Bootleg Series” collections, which offer a more selective overview of the artist’s work during a certain period. This release is more akin to the 14-CD “Bob Dylan – The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings” released in 2019, which also was not a “Bootleg Series” release — although it comes close to doubling the number of discs contained in that collection. The 27 discs pale against the 36 included in the 2016 release “The 1966 Live Recordings,” however.
The fact that this is not a “Bootleg Series” volume may offer some encouragement to Dylan fans who hope that the next official excavation of unreleased studio material might yet come within the next year. (The last volume in that series, “The Bootleg Series Vol. 17: Fragments – Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996–1997),” was released in January 2023.)
Dylan, who rarely goes off tour for long, is back out on the road at present, performing as part of Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival outing. He has 16 more shows lined up as part of the Nelson-led tour, including a July 31 stop at the Hollywood Bowl.
