Tickets for the touring version of Matilda The Musical go on sale today.

Demand is expected to be high for seats at Tim Minchin ’s adaptation of the popular Roald Dahl children’s novel following its successful run in London’s West End.

Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company, it tells the tale of the title character, an incredibly intelligent and well-read girl who discovers she has extraordinary powers.

Matilda’s relationship with her ambivalent parents, kindly teacher Miss Honey and the ruthless headmistress Miss Trunchbull lead to some fascinatings scenes and songs, all played out in the darkly delicious fairytale world of the master storyteller.

Liverpool fans of the tale don’t have too far to travel to see the show for themselves.

The closest production to Merseyside is staged at Manchester’s Palace Theatre from September 18 to 29 next year.

In 2012/ 13, there was barely an award ceremony that the show did did not win in at least one category. As of 2013, the show holds the record for the most Olivier awards won by a musical (seven).

See it if you like Roald Dahl's book. It's closer to the book than the movie. Very cleverly written lyrics too, expected from Tim Minchin.

Don’t see it if you don't like kids. Or Tim Minchin. Also, it may get a bit too dark for kids during a couple of scenes.

See it if If you love Roald Dahl, or if you enjoy musicals with witty lyrics and engaging stories. Also if you like inventive sets and costumes.

Don’t see it if You dislike theatre aimed at younger audiences.

Matilda the musical extends west end booking period into 2023 and reveals 20th children's cast.

The revolting children continue to revolt at the Cambridge Theatre

The RSC's hit musical Matilda , written by Dennis Kelly and Tim Minchin, has now extended its West End booking period into 2023.

In addition, producers have today announced the 20th children's cast for the London production, who are set to begin performances at the Cambridge Theatre on 22 March. The young performers in the company include Hari Aggarwal, Aydin Ahmed, Thommy Bailey Vine, Tilly-Raye Bayer, Sienna Clarke, Kylan Denis, Drew Edwards, Robyn Elwell, Rory Finnegan, Alexander Fitzgerald, Rosie Gell-Marquez, Rudy Gibson, Isla Gie, Beth Gilmour, Gracie Hodson-Prior, Rafferty Ison, Isabella Jonsson, Darcy Kelly, Maisie Mardle, Joshua Moabi, Keanna-Skye O'Quinn, Bella Perdoni, Chancé Quaye, Scarlett Jayne Rackham, Bren Reilly, Niamh Ritchie, Jacob Savva, Jayden Seder and Ethan Sokontwe.

Also confirmed today, and following on from the success of its six previous relaxed performances, a seventh date has been announced, taking place on Sunday 19 June 2022 at 3pm, offering full access to the theatre for people with autism and learning disabilities and their families.

Directed by Matthew Warchus, the show is designed by Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and the special effects and illusions are by Paul Kieve. The casting director is Will Burton, with Jessica Ronane as children's casting director.

Matilda the Musical is now taking bookings through to 28 May 2023, with tickets on sale below.

Don’t see it if you hate kids in shows.

See it if you like Roald Dahl's book. It's closer to the book than the movie. Very cleverly written lyrics too, expected from Tim Minchin.

Don’t see it if you don't like kids. Or Tim Minchin. Also, it may get a bit too dark for kids during a couple of scenes.

See it if If you love Roald Dahl, or if you enjoy musicals with witty lyrics and engaging stories. Also if you like inventive sets and costumes.

Don’t see it if You dislike theatre aimed at younger audiences.

20 magical photos take you back to Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool

Liverpools Eurovision offerings spanned multiple weeks and saw a number of brilliant art installations and musical events.

As the 2024 Eurovision Grand Final in Malmo draws near, we have a taken a look back at Liverpool’s incredible time as host.

The UK hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in May last year, on behalf of 2022 winners Ukraine. Liverpool was chosen as the host city and, as well as hosting the semi-finals and final at the M&S Bank Area, created a Eurovision Festival and EuroVillage that impressed visitors.

The city’s Eurovision offerings spanned multiple weeks and saw a number of brilliant art installations honouring Ukraine, including a beautiful songbird trail and a yellow and blue lambanana. Shops donned festive displays and main shopping streets were given a full makeover, ensuring the Eurovision spirit could be felt all around.

This year’s final will take place in Sweden’s Malmo on Saturday (May 11) and while Liverpool is holding a number of celebratory events , the city definitely feels much quieter than this time last year. As we’re feeling nostalgic, we have created a gallery showcasing Liverpool’s hugely successful time as Eurovision host city...

We are always looking for children for the West End production of Matilda The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, London. There is lots of singing involved, as well as acting and even more dancing!

WHEN ARE THE AUDITIONS FOR MATILDA AND HER CLASSMATES?

The next set of auditions will be held from April to May 2024.

WHERE WILL THE AUDITIONS BE? Auditions are held in London.  

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO AUDITION? We will audition children for the role of Matilda who are aged 8 to 12 and under 4ft 3. Her classmates need to be aged 8 to 13 and under 4ft 10” tall with brilliant dancing and singing skills! Boys must have unbroken voices.

WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO IN THE AUDITION? You will be asked to bring a short poem or monologue to perform, to sing something and you will be taught a dance from the show.

WHAT IF I LIVE OUTSIDE LONDON? We need to cast children for all the roles within travelling distance of the theatre so they can live at home and attend their own schools. You need to live within one hour of Central London.  All children must be available for the entire rehearsal and performance period. No holidays will be allowed during this period and parents must be able to bring their child to all rehearsals and performances.
