Sea Of Thieves The Journey To Melee Island Guide - All Commendations And Memoir Spots

The first of three Monkey Island crossover Tall Tales is as puzzling as the classic LucasArts series itself.

By Mark Delaney on July 21, 2023 at 5:05AM PDT

Sea of Thieves and Monkey Island have finally crossed over, giving fans the pirate collaboration they've been dreaming of for a long time. In the first of three Tall Tales to come, The Journey to Melee Island, you'll dock on the titular island villa for the first time, soak in the local culture, do battle with some ghostly ne'er-do-wells, and, of course, meet Guybrush Threepwood himself. This Tall Tale plays much like a classic Monkey Island game, which means its puzzles and progression can be a bit confusing. Use our guide to work out what to do and all earn all 16 Commendations, 10 Memoir Spots, and two exclusive ship cosmetics along the way.

Commendations

The mission features 16 Commendations, half of which can be missed if you don't go out of your way to complete them. We've left asterisks next to those you can miss . Use this as a handy out-of-game checklist:

  • Purchase the chef's uniform
  • Deliver the citizen of Melee's missing cargo
  • Repair the clock and set it to midnight
  • Gain entry to the Governor's Mansion
  • Complete The Journey to Melee Island
  • Defeat ghost pirates with root beer (10)*
  • Take a seat in the Scumm Bar*
  • Read about Guybrush's re-election campaign*
  • Hear everything Spiffy has to say (6)*
  • Take Murray on a tour of the town's key locations*
  • Purchase the Melee Island history book*
  • Take in the view at all Memoir Spots*
  • Legendary Commendation: Complete all other Commendations for The Journey to Melee Island*
  • Cosmetic reward: Legend of Monkey Island figurines
  • Cosmetic reward: Melee by Moonlight painting*

How to complete Sea of Thieves Tall Tale - The Journey to Melee Island

To launch the mission, you'll want to look for Captain Capsize's camp at any outpost. She won't be far from where you'd start the Disney Pirates missions, and if you prefer, you can enter the game so that you spawn directly in front of her (rather than in the nearby tavern) by choosing the Monkey Island option from the main menu. Look beside her for a book that allows you to vote on the voyage like any other Tall Tale and a cinematic will begin in which she and the Pirate Lord tell you to find Guybrush Threepwood. A green portal will then open nearby at sea, so raise anchor and set sail to pass through it.

Find Capsize's tent to kick off the mission.

When you come out the other side, you'll dock at Melee Island, complete with the Monkey Island series' original music and the classic purple moonlight overlooking the tall spire at the heart of the island. Step off your ship and you'll find you have the whole of the island--sans the Governor's mansion--available to explore. While the next several steps could, in some cases, be completed in a few different orders, we've formatted this walkthrough based on what we see as the optimal route through the mission.

Enter the Scumm Bar and talk to folks

Inside the Scumm Bar, you can speak to several NPCs can be spoken to, and many of them will give you small hints as to what to do, so even with this guide it's good to chat and make sense of your surroundings. From the chef, you'll learn he's waiting on a newly hired assistant. This will be especially important soon. Also be sure to exhaust all four dialogue options with Spiffy the dog (and keep checking back for two more: after you give him his toy and after you’ve unlocked Corina’s shop), as you'll want to hear all six of his replies, not all of which are available yet at this point in the mission. Lastly, be sure to interact with one of Guybrush Threepwood's campaign posters to earn a related Commendation.

Interact with any election poster around town to earn the Elected Legend Commendation.

Head to the jail and take the claw hammer

Head through town all the way to the end where you'll enter a small jail featuring two locked cells. You can't get in for now but take the claw hammer off the table and carry it back to the docks.

Grab the hammer from inside the jail.

Swim to the shipwreck and cut the ropes off the cargo crate

Just off the dock, you can see a shipwreck sticking out of the water. Leave the claw hammer on the dock, then jump into the water where you'll notice a big box of cargo roped to a palette. Two of the ropes are threadbare, so cut them off using your sword, then return to the dock.

Two ropes look ready to tear, so cut them with your sword.

Raise the cargo to the dock with the hook and pulley

Using the winch and pulley system on the dock, align the winch so it's above the cargo crate, then lower it so it connects to the crate. Lift up the crate and drop it onto the dock.

You'll need to adjust both the vertical and horizontal positions of the winch to grab the cargo.

Open the cargo with the claw hammer then bring the cargo to the street merchant

Now using your claw hammer, you can open the crate and find a box of goods the street merchant is waiting on. To find him, simply head into town like you did for the jail, where you'll see him on your right after a corner. His shop was closed until he had his cargo, so give it to him and he'll start selling goods. You won't have enough money for anything yet though.

Once you open the crate, bring its contents to this merchant.

Collect 45 Pieces o' Eight from around the island

Scattered on top of barrels, inside some crates, and on tables, you'll find the local currency, Pieces o' Eight. You'll need to disguise yourself as the chef's new assistant, and for that uniform you'll need 45 Pieces o' Eight. There appear to be no extra coins lying around, so be sure to scour over every barrel and in every alley until you have 45 total.

Be sure to open all cabinets and crates for additional loot.

For a few added hiding spots, be sure to climb to the Lookout atop the spire, and distract the watchman so you can swipe his pouch of coins. There's also quite a few coins in the jail and in the church .

Go to the general store and buy the chef's uniform, then wear it

Once you have 45 coins, head to the general store and buy the chef's uniform, then equip it using the clothing chest in the right-back corner of the store.

Buy the uniform, equip it, then fool the chef.

Speak to the chef and help make his stew

Wearing the new outfit, return to speak to the chef, who assumes you're his new coworker. He'll go on break, leaving you to make a stew. You need not worry about the ingredients list so much, as you can't mess it up. Simply adding each item found in the kitchen, plus one caught red herring fish from outside, will finish the stew. For you though, you merely need the hunk of meat that sticks out of the boiling pot. However, before you leave, you could perform one other step in the bar.

The chef is making stew, but you just need the meat.

Serve patrons the extra-potent grog, then steal their money and the clocktower key

Since you "work" for the kitchen now, you have access to the patrons' preferred extra-potent grog. Fill your tankard with it and serve it to every patron waiting for it in the bar. There are three overall. They will all fall asleep, letting you swipe the coin purses from two of them and the clocktower key from another.

Three swigs of the top-shelf stuff and these swashbucklers will be snoozing.

Bring the cooked meat to the piranha poodles

Leave the clocktower key somewhere you won't lose it, then bring the meat to the alleyway behind the church where a ghost is tormenting some piranha poodles. Leave the meat in their bowl, and they'll eat it and find the courage to attack their tormentor. He'll be destroyed, leaving behind a jumbled skeleton and some Gunpowder Gummies on the bench.

Armed with the power of treats.

Collect the Gunpowder Gummies left behind

Grab the pair of gummies, then leave them in the jail, as you'll eventually use both there.

Don't let these gummies go to waste.

Collect 130 Pieces o' Eight from around the island

Thanks to the sleeping patrons you stole from, you should have already collected the next batch of money you need, but double check here that you have 130 coins, as you'll be buying two items totaling this amount.

Other patrons of the bar will part with their coin purses once they pass out.

Buy the rope from the general store and the monkey from the street merchant

The general store is selling rope, so buy that and bring it to the jail, leaving it there for now with the gummies. Then buy the monkey toy from the street merchant.

Monkeys acquired.

Give the monkey to the dog, Spiffy, in the bar, then take the bone he drops

Bring the monkey toy to the dog, who will prefer it to the bone he wouldn't drop earlier. Be sure to speak to him again after to hear more dialogue options that work toward the related Commendation. Take the bone and exit the bar.

Spiffy likes bones, but he prefers cute monkeys toys.

Connect the bone to the skeleton left behind from the poodles

The bones aren't money, but they are valuable. With the bone in hand, return to the alleyway with the skeleton in shambles, and connect the bone you brought with you. Then go grab the clocktower key from where you left it.

You'll return to this skellie for times to reassemble him.

Enter the clocktower, set the clock to midnight, then take the bones found inside

The guard blocking the Governor's mansion jokes that he won't let you pass until the clock strikes midnight. He says this knowing the clock is broken, but with the clocktower key you can fix it. Enter the clocktower, remove the bones lodged in the gears, then use the ship wheel to set the clock to midnight. On your way out, take the bones from here, too. If you speak to the guard again in this period, he'll tell you that even though the clock struck midnight, he can't leave until his shift replacement arrives. But that's precisely who you're building in the alleyway.

In the midnight hour, she cried bones, bones, bo-OOH-nes.

Connect the bones to the skeleton left behind from the poodles

With these new bones in your hand, bring them again to the skeleton in the alley and again connect them to the rest of the body.

Using the Gunpowder Gummies and rope, blow each jail cell open

The skeleton will still be missing two more parts, including a head, but you'll work toward both of them in the jail. Head there next and get ready to blow open both jail cells. You can do this in either order using the same method. Take a gummy candy and insert it into the lock. Then connect the rope to the gummy, acting as a fuse. Take out your lantern, hold it up (using LT on controller), and light the end of the rope.

Kablooey times two-y.

When the fire reaches the gummy, the door will explode open. Remember, you have enough rope and gummies to do this to both doors, and you must do exactly that.

In the right cell, collect the bones and connect them to the skeleton

You'll need just one more piece--the head--after you take the bones from the jail cell and connect them to the skeleton in the alley.

In the left cell, free Otis, then collect Captain Coco

When you free Otis from the jail cell on the left, he will leave behind his friend, Captain Coco, a coconut with a face engraved on it. Take Captain Coco to the bar.

Captain of what exactly?

Swap Captain Coco with Murray, the talking skull inside the bar

Head to where the talking skulls are decorating the wall and replace Murray with Captain Coco. This allows you to exit the bar with Murray in tow. To earn the Commendation to bring Murray to nine key spots around the island , you'll need to delay connecting him to the skeleton and first bring him to the following nine spots. Note that you need to trigger his voice line in each spot for it to count, and sometimes he's talking about other things, so be sure to pause in each area long enough for him to directly comment on the location.

  • Jetty (near the docks)
  • Lookout (island peak)
  • Streets (near the guards)
  • Alleyway (near the poodles)
  • General store

Attach Murray to the skeleton to finish rebuilding it

Once you've earned the Commendation, you can then safely attach Murray to the rest of the body in the alley, thus completing the building project.

Murray on the mend.

The skeleton will replace the guard blocking the Governor's mansion

Murray, if we can call him that in a Ship of Theseus sort of way, will then help you by walking to the guard blocking the mansion, swapping places with him, and letting you pass. You've now got access to the mansion!

Enter the mansion and meet Guybrush

You can head right into the mansion, and the doors atop the stairs will be locked, but after several increasingly aggressive knocks, you'll smash through them and into the room to meet Guybrush Threepwood, the titular Legend of Monkey Island. He'll give you a quick and rehearsed speech about his heroics, surely embellishing some of them, then promptly pass out.

Face-to-face with a legend

When he falls asleep, collect more coins, then enter the room to Guybrush's left

There are three coin purses in the mansion that total 200 coins. You'll want to collect these to earn the optional Commendation that asks you to buy the Melee Island history book from the street merchant. You can find the coins in the following three places inside the mansion:

  • On a table just after you enter the mansion
  • Inside a cabinet in the room with Guybrush
  • In a chest inside the bedroom

Gallery image 1

Collect the note and key in the bed

Open the curtains in the bedroom, then remove the bedsheets in the bedroom to the left of Guybrush. Under the bedsheets, you'll also find a note and a key. The key opens the chest at the foot of the bed.

Open the chest and take the root beer

Once you open the chest and discover four fizzy root beer bottles, a familiar foe will appear outside the mansion. Oh hi, LeChuck. He'll taunt you and reveal himself to have been the one disguised as The Pirate Lord in Adventure 12, A Dark Deception earlier this summer. He'll then send a swarm of ghosts after you. It's time to fight.

Your secret weapon is revealed.

Use the root beer to defeat the ghosts

Using LT to shake the bottle and make it fizzy and RT to spray it, cover at least 10 ghosts in root beer to blow them up and earn a related Commendation. You can also defeat them with traditional weapons, but, honestly, we never did. We preferred soda. After about four or five waves of enemies who may spawn all over town, you'll have won the battle and returned the island to normal…for now.

Thirsty?

Drop root beer into the pot inside Corina's voodoo shop, finish Commendations, then watch the final cinematic

Previously guarded by the ghosts you just defeated, Corina's voodoo shop will now be accessible. Head inside with a root beer bottle and drop it into the cauldron in the middle of the room. Corina will appear and give you another cinematic.

Hey, I was gonna drink that.

She'll also warn that you've got more work to do, and to return to her when you're all set. This is because you still may want to earn the Commendation for visiting all 10 Memoir Spots in the mission, as well as the one for buying the Melee Island history book . To do that, take your 200 coins from the mansion and return to the street merchant.

A bit of light reading

All 10 Memoir Spots on Melee Island

These are seating arrangements that, in first-person, resemble scenes from classic Monkey Island games. You'll need to sit in designated seating positions and listen to Guybrush's memories at the following 10 locations to earn this Commendation, and it should be your last one other than those which you earn for completing the mission:

  • Front of the Scumm Bar
  • Rear of the Scumm Bar
  • Corner looking towards the clocktower
  • In the general store
  • In the jail
  • Overlooking the Church
  • In the alleyway (near the poodles)
  • Outside the mansion
  • Inside the mansion

We've included pictures for all 10 so you can easily find the spots yourself. The trick is they are always beside small red ink bottles , except for one extra tricky one atop a building across the street from a church. To access this spot, you head up the clocktower and over the rooftops until you reach the spot you see in the image.

To reach the Memoir Spot across from the church, head up this stairway once you open the clocktower, then move across the rooftops. This and all other Memoir Spots are shown below.

Once you've finished off that list, you should be ready to complete the mission, so return to Corina and activate the ending. If you finish the mission and complete all Commendations along the way, you'll have unlocked both Captain's ship cosmetics, so flaunt them if you've got them. That completes the first Monkey Island Tall Tale in Sea of Thieves.

Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island Continues With ‘The Quest for Guybrush’

  • Return to the world of Monkey Island in the second Tall Tale from this classic crossover on August 31.
  • Explore new locations and meet new characters as more of the iconic Mêlée Island is revealed.
  • Sea of Thieves is available free for all players with Xbox Game Pass and can be played across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11 and Steam.

Mêlée Island has need of you once again! It’s time to return to Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island , an incredible crossover that kicked off in July, beginning a journey to reunite players with the legendary Guybrush Threepwood and defeat the villainous Captain LeChuck – all within the world of Sea of Thieves . Today sees the arrival of the second Tall Tale in the trilogy, promising a wave of new excitement and experiences…

journey to melee island part 2

The Tale So Far

Players were granted their first foray into this new playground last month in the opening Tall Tale, ‘The Journey to Mêlée Island’. In this initial adventure, taking place deep within the Sea of the Damned, players were introduced to a distorted reflection of the classic Mêlée Island.

With an ominous fog covering much of the island and Guybrush Threepwood installed in the unlikely position of Governor, it was up to players to get to the bottom of things. By working their way through puzzles, befriending locals with small acts of service and finding enough coins to pay their way when they couldn’t, the story gradually took shape.

Eventually, an audience was obtained with the esteemed Governor Guybrush, followed by a fierce battle with the ghost pirate minions of Captain LeChuck and – for pirates who emerged victorious – a final stop with Corina at the International House of Mojo.

Explore New Mechanics

Now the time has come to continue the adventure! Having received word that Corina has found a way to break the spell and free Guybrush from his delusion, Captain Kate is recruiting pirates to carry out the plan. To craft the cure, you’ll need to journey back to Mêlée Island in search of three symbols of true pirate courage. They can only be obtained by the fiercest and most cunning of pirates, so keep your wits about you as you uncover more of the island and its cast of inhabitants.

Packed with new places and faces, ‘The Quest for Guybrush’ offers a major expansion on everything you’ve seen before. This Tall Tale will ask you to master Insult Sword Fighting, confront The Beast, return to your treasure-seeking pirate roots and much more. Expect a host of fresh surprises for long-time and new fans of Monkey Island alike throughout this uproarious new chapter of the story.

As before, you’ll be able to work your way through the Tall Tale alone or in a crew, in an isolated map so you’re free to take your time without engaging with other crews. And with the full expanse of Mêlée Island at your feet, there’s plenty to explore!

Iconic Outfits

Of course, an important part of any pirate’s adventure is being able to dress the part, which is where the Pirate Emporium’s accompanying wave of Monkey Island -inspired cosmetics come in.

With the Mad Monkey ship set, you’ll be able to model your vessel on an infamous Caribbean shipwreck. Fortunately, the design isn’t necessarily a sign that your ship will share the same fate – and to make sure of it, you can supplement your sidearms and guard your loot with the matching Mad Monkey weapons.

In the wardrobe department, the Guybrush Costume Set finally lets you dress up as your favorite mighty pirate, while the Elaine Costume Set offers a chance to emulate the celebrated former Governor. Alternatively, accomplished duellists might prefer the Carla Costume Set, paying tribute to the legendary Sword Master of Mêlée Island.

So, ready to take on the next Tall Tale? Guybrush has need of you, and Mêlée Island isn’t about to save itself. ‘The Quest for Guybrush’ Tall Tale is free for all Sea of Thieves players and available now, so make your preparations, pack your best insults and drop by Capsize Charters to get started…

Sea of Thieves Monkey Island

Published: 01 Sep 2023 11:11 AM +00:00 Updated: 01 Sep 2023 7:21 PM +00:00

Sea of Thieves The Quest for Guybrush is the second Monkey Island Tall Tale, following on from The Journey to Melee Island. Part 2 takes you back to Melee Island, but this time, there's even more to see and do in Rare's recreation of the iconic location from the Monkey Island franchise.

However, with such a massive island to explore, you might feel a tad overwhelmed about how to begin. Fortunately, our guide can save you from a lot of head-scratching and backtracking in our Quest for Guybrush walkthrough.

This guide also details the quest rewards and achievements for those of you eager to collect every journal and memoir spot location along your way.

To begin The Quest for Guybrush in Sea of Thieves, you first need to select the Legend of Monkey Island in the game menu. After loading into the game as usual, such as on a captained ship, you must then visit Captain Kate Capsize at a Capsize Charters tent found on Sea of Thieves outposts. Begin the quest by voting on the quest book on the table by Kate. You will get a quest log book after a short chat with Kate and the Pirate Lord, and then you can set sail through the nearby portal to get started.

There are also several checkpoints, so you just need to vote for the quest on your ship to resume the last checkpoint.

The quest book contains the island map and story details, indicating Guybrush is trapped under evil Lechuck's spell. So it's up to you to help Corina, the voodoo lady, to brew a potion to break it. However, you must first complete the Legendary Three Trials to retrieve the rubber chicken, Mighty Pirate Sword, as well as a treasure map.

When arriving at Melee Island, your first step is visiting Corina in her shop. She will subsequently tell you to get permission from the Pirate Leaders in the Scumm Bar to do the Trials and then return to Corina. So now it is time to buy the rubber chicken, sword, and map.

Sea of Thieves Quest for Guybrush signed credit note

You have no money, but the storekeeper accepts a credit note for the rubber chicken and sword. The Citizen of Melee trades the map for Guybrush's sea chart. You will then get the note and chart from Guybrush's mansion bookshelves and will need to forge his signature.

Image of Justin Joy

Monkey Island and Sea of Thieves have joined forces in The Journey to Mêlée Island Tall Tale. I've been so excited to check out Mêlée Island, meet Guybrush Threepwood, and explore the world of Monkey Island in first person. One thing that I set out to do right away was complete all The Journey to Mêlée Island commendations—after I got all the Sea of Thieves Monkey Island cosmetics that is.

How to complete all The Journey to Mêlée Island Commendations in Sea of Thieves

While you can complete the commendations in different orders, I've structured this guide to reflect the best way to do so and not miss any of the commendations. You can change the order in which you complete these, but be careful not to miss any commendations.

Note: While exploring Mêlée Island, search every nook and cranny for Pieces o' Eight. This is the currency of Mêlée Island. You can find them in crates, on surfaces, and steal them from other pirates.

In good company.

The first commendation you can grab is the In Good Company commendation. All you have to do is enter the Scum Bar and sit down. Any of the open seats will do. Be sure to talk to Spiffy the Dog as well. Click every dialogue option to get four out of the six required for another commendation.

Elected Legend

Next is the Elected Legend commendation. To complete this, just inspect one of the many posters of Guybrush Threepwood. This will complete the commendation.

Delayed in Transit

Moving on, we will be completing Prison Break. Make your way from the docks to the Mêlée Island jail. Look on the table inside the jail and pick up the Claw Hammer. Return to the docks and find the sunken ship on the far side. Its mast will be visible above the water.

journey to melee island part 2

Place the Claw Hammer on the dock and dive in the water. Locate the crate tied down beside the ship underwater. Cut the frayed ropes with your sword and surface. Find the crane next to the sunken ship on the dock. Lower the crane into the water, then climb the ladder next to you. Move the crane to the right until you hook the crate. Raise the crane up, and then move the crate over the dock before placing it down.

journey to melee island part 2

Grab the Claw Hammer and pry open the crate. Pick up the goods and deliver them to the Citizen of Mêlée. This will allow you to purchase his wares, but hold off for now. He will also give you a voucher to see the Governor but do not do this yet. Handing him the crate will complete the Delayed in Transit commendation.

journey to melee island part 2

To complete the Hired Help commendation, you need 45 Pieces o' Eight. Search everywhere on the island. You can get these from barrels, the Church, the Jail, the Scum Bar, and in crates. You can also head to the Lookout and distract the Watchman to steal his purse.

With 45 Pieces o' Eight, head to the General Shop. Purchase the Chef's Uniform, equip it using the clothing chest in the back-right corner of the store, and return to the Scum Bar. Speak to the Chef to become his assistant.

Your task is to help the Chef make the stew. Use the kitchen key to head outside and catch a red herring, then add that and the ingredients in the kitchen to the stew. Before leaving the Scum Bar, there are two things you need to do—collect the meat and give the patrons grog.

As the Chef's assistant, you have access to the extra-potent grog. Serve this to the Thirsty Pirates in the bar. Once they pass out, you can steal their coin purses, but more importantly, the Clocktower Key. Leave this somewhere you'll remember, then grab the meat from the stew pot.

Head into town and find the Skeleton Guard tormenting the Piranha Poodles. Place the meat in the bowl and watch them take their revenge on the guard. Grab the Gunpowder Gummies and the coin purse from the bench. Place the Gunpowder Gummies in the jail for later use.

Groggy Dog Story

By now, you should have collected enough Pieces o' Eight to purchase the Gunpowder Fuses from the General Store and the Stuffed Toy Monkey from the Citizen of Mêlée Island. Head to the Scum Bar and trade Spiffy the monkey toy for his bone.

Be sure to speak to him and exhaust all dialogue options to complete the Groggy Dog Story commendation. Note: You must speak to Spiffy after defeating LeChuck . Place the bone somewhere you can remember, or connect it to the skeleton the Piranha Poodles destroyed so you don't have to worry about it later.

journey to melee island part 2

Save the Clock Tower

Grab the Clock Tower Key and enter the Mêlée Island Clock Tower. Go up the stairs and open the second door. Remove the bones blocking the Clock Tower clock and then use the wheel to set the time to midnight to complete the Save the Clock Tower commendation. Take the bones to the skeleton you are rebuilding and attach them. Don't forget to return and take the other stairs to reach the Memoir overlooking the church.

Prison Break

Make your way to jail and grab the Gunpowder Gummies. Insert one in the lock containing Otis and Captain Coco and then in the lock of the cell to the right. Attach fuses to the gummy in Otis lock, then use your lantern to light the fuse and detonate the gummy. Do the same for the other cell, then grab those bones and attach them to the skeleton.

journey to melee island part 2

Return to the jail and grab Captain Coco, whom Otis left behind after you blew up his door, and complete the Prison Break commendation. Return to the Scum Bar and swap Captain Coco for Murray, the talking skull on the wall. It's time to go sightseeing.

A Guided Tour

journey to melee island part 2

With Murray in hand, you must go to nine locations on Mêlée Island. These are:

  • The Jetty (Docks)
  • Mêlée Island Jail
  • Mêlée Island Church
  • Mêlée Island Clock Tower
  • Mêlée Island General Store
  • The Lookout
  • The Streets (Near the guards)
  • The Alleyway (Near Piranha Poodles)

This will complete The Guided Tour commendation. Now, you can attach Murray to the skeleton you have been building. Head to the guard blocking the way to the Governor's Mansion and have Murray replace him. This allows you to head to the mansion.

Now that you've gained entry to the Governor's Mansion, it's time to find Guybrush. Knock on the door at the top of the stairs until you break through. Allow Guybrush to speak until he passes out, then rob him of his Pieces o' Eight. Be sure to enter the door on the left and thoroughly explore the mansion. You should be able to pick up 200 Pieces o' Eight from a table on the ground floor, a cabinet in the room with Guybrush, and a cabinet in the bedroom.

Be sure to grab the note and key in Guybrush's room. These can be found by opening the curtains and looking under the bedsheets. The key opens the chest containing the bottles of root beer. Exit the mansion to have LeChuck show up, deliver a speech, and summon his ghost army. It's time to fight, but at least you got the House Call commendation!

journey to melee island part 2

Pop Up Pirates

To get the Pop Up Pirates commendation, you must equip one of the root beer bottles and spray ten enemies with it. This will cause them to pop, as well as cause the commendation to pop. Defeat the remaining waves of enemies and head to the town. It's time to wrap up some commendations.

Mêlée Island Historian

Return to the Mêlée Island Citizen and purchase the Mêlée Island History Book for 200 Pieces o' Eight to complete the Mêlée Island Historian commendation.

Memoirs of a Legend, Vol. 1

To complete the Memoirs of a Legend, Vol. 1, you need to visit ten spots on Mêlée Island. These are scenes that resemble scenes from the original Monkey Island. These can be spotted by the red ink bottles, but they can be hard to find. One location requires you to access the roof from the Clock Tower. Make sure you sit down and listen Guybrush speak to get credit .

  • Scum Bar (Front)
  • Scum Bar (Rear)
  • General Store (Inside)
  • Jail (Inside)
  • Street corner (Facing Clock Tower)
  • Overlooking the Church
  • Alleyway (Near Piranha Poodles)
  • Mansion (Outside)

Mêlée Island Investigator - Legend of Monkey Island Figurines - Mêlée by Moonlight

The final three commendations, Mêlée Island Investigator, Legend of Monkey Island Figurines, and Mêlée by Moonlight can now be completed, so long as you have done the commendations above. Head to Corinna's Voodoo Shop and pour the Root Beer Bottle into the cauldron. Give it a stir, and enjoy the end!
