Frequently asked questions

How long are your tours.

Our tours are 1 hour and 45 minutes in duration from dock to dock. We also have an additional 15 minutes of boarding prior to each tour.

Do you have drinks on board?

Yes, we offer beer, wine, soft drinks, and a full liquor bar for purchase on board. We also offer drink packages that may be purchased from the booth prior to departure.

How does your dolphin guarantee work?

In the unlikely event we do not see dolphins during a dolphin tour (not valid on sunset tours) you will be able to take another dolphin tour free of charge at a later time. Drink packages purchased during the original tour are not refundable and do not apply to your next dolphin tour.

Are there restrooms on board?

Yes, we do have restrooms on board for the use of our guests. Please keep in mind that these are marine heads. Please note any signage in the restrooms regarding what may be flushed down the toilets.

Is there any shade or protection from the elements?

Yes, while we are an outdoor activity our open-air lower level does provide shade and protection from the elements. Note that guests in wheelchairs may not be able to access this area based on the size of their wheelchairs.

Can we bring food on board?

Unfortunately, you may not bring food on board as we do not have appropriate areas for consumption. We do offer light snacks on board for purchase.

Do you offer private charters?

Are pets allowed on board?

Unfortunately, we do not allow pets on board during our tours unless it is a service animal.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our ramp is wide enough to cater to most wheelchairs. However, if the wheelchair is wider than 22" the wheelchair will not fit through the lower deck threshold. If so, our wheelchair guest may be confined to the bow (front) area of the boat. We do consider this the best seat in the house. Another option is if the guest does have some walking ability he/she can collapse the wheelchair and the first seat on the inside lower level is just two steps from the threshold. When boarding, our wheelchair guests board last for prime seating on the bow. Our crew is not permitted to lift wheelchairs or any mobility equipment.

We are NOT accessible to Power Chairs. The chairs are too heavy and create an unsafe environment for the customer and crew during boarding.

What times are your tours offered?

Our daily tour schedule changes with the Sunset time throughout the year. Our schedule is updated in real-time when you click on the Book Now section for each tour offered.

Can I bring a stroller?

Yes, our ramp is wide enough to cater to most strollers. However, if the stroller is wider than 22" the stroller will not fit through the lower deck threshold. If so, the stroller may be confined to the bow (front) area of the boat. We do consider this the best seat in the house. Another option is to collapse the stroller and bring it into the lower cabin to re-open. You are also welcome to leave unneeded strollers on the dock. We are not responsible for unattended strollers but our booth is staffed until the Sunset Cruise departs.

Does every person in my party/group need to complete the waiver?

No, one completed waiver is satisfactory for the entire party/group.

How do I redeem my CityPASS Voucher?

Do you need to wear a mask while onboard?

No, masks are not required to be worn per CDC guidelines.

Where do we park in the marina?

You will find the Marina Parking lot at the forth exist out of the roundabout at the end of the bridge when coming to Clearwater Beach. That parking lot is reserved for Marina Activities on a first come, first served basis. We recommend having one person go to our Tropics Booth while the other looks for a parking space. The Booth Staff will give you a parking code that will you allow you to book enough time in the parking space for the duration of your stay in the Marina.

How are we notified when inclimate weather impacts our tour time?

We do our best to notify all guests when in climate weather impacts our tour times. At times we do wait until we can clearly assess the weather as it changes quickly in Florida. You can expect to receive a notification when we have to cancel any tour.

Are kids permitted on the Happy Hour Dolphin Tour?

Yes, kids of all ages are permitted on our Happy Hour Dolphin Tour when it is available.

Merina’s skin felt cool, sleek and smooth. When she shook my hand with her fin and gazed into my eyes with her friendly smile, I melted right there on the docks of the Dolphin Research Center in the  Florida Keys .

Some say a dolphin feels slick like wet rubber; others say it feels smooth like a peeled hard-boiled egg. But what’s most impressive is the way you feel when you touch, interact with or even see a dolphin. It’s hard to do it justice with words, but “jubilant” and “awed” are common reactions.

Except for the gator, few animals are more associated with the Sunshine State than the dolphin. It would be hard to imagine a place where there were so many ways to interact with them, either in  aquariums  or in the sea, from simply watching them to actually swimming with them in Florida.

Participants collaborate with one of its 22 dolphins – some of them descendants of the 1963  Flipper  movie cast – to create a colorfully abstract T-shirt that the dolphin decorates with water-based paints and a paintbrush it holds in its mouth. This and other encounter programs help the facility cognition and behavior, provide programs to military personnel and their families, work with people with special needs, and develop top educational programs for students of all ages.

No child is left out from the dolphin experience in  Key Largo , and Island Dolphin Care makes sure. It was developed specifically so kids with special needs could undergo the healing pleasure of a dolphin’s company. Programs range from half-day meet-and-greets to five-day “Dolphin Time-Outs.”

Key Largo: Dolphins Plus

Tiny tots can enjoy the dolphin experience at Dolphins Plus . Participants ages 3 years and up and at least 4 feet 6 inches tall can participate on their own (if they do not meet the height requirement, they must have a participating adult to hold them in the water). The Shallow Water Dolphin Encounter is a waist-deep dolphin interaction program where you can meet the dolphins up close and personal, while standing comfortably in waist deep water. You can experience interactive behaviors like body rubs, handshakes or kisses. All interaction is guided by a dolphin trainer, and one-on-one contact is guaranteed.

Miami: Miami Seaquarium

Here at the home of TV’s “Flipper” and erstwhile filming site for the show, you can make like Sandy and Bud and befriend a dolphin in either the Dolphin Encounter or the Dolphin Odyssey at Miami Seaquarium . Both are group experiences, last two hours and are prefaced with a learning experience. Don’t miss the Flipper Dolphin Show at this 50-plus-year-old classic  Miami  attraction.

Southeast Florida: Dolphin World

Everglades City: Everglades Area Tours

When it comes to getting close to wild dolphin, kayaking is the way to go. Everglades Area Tours makes quick work of getting you out into the raw nature of the Everglades by combining the use of horsepower and manpower. A mother boat transports participants to prime spots where they can paddle with the tides and currents back to point A. Destin: Glass Bottom Boat Dolphin Cruise

Climb aboard the Destin-based, 80-foot Southern Star and prepare to do a lot of swivel-necking. Dolphin love jumping in the boat’s wake, but you never know where exactly they’ll surface next. You can sometimes catch them in their most playful mode, when the males are showing off for the females or tossing fish to mates. It’s better than a trained dolphin show because it’s spontaneous and unpredictable. You can bring your camera, but it often seems they’re laughing at your attempts to capture them. Kids especially love the ride because besides being able to see dolphins above and below the water, they get to drive the boat.

What is your cancellation policy.

• Customer Cancellations : Must be requested via calling or emailing no less than 48hrs before trip departure for a full refund. No shows or late arrivals will be charged the full ticket price. 
• Weather Cancellations : If your trip’s departure may be impacted by weather, our captains will reach out via text with as much advance notice as possible. Is there a bathroom on board?

Yes, there is a restroom on board that is cleaned and sanitized daily!

What time should we arrive?

Please plan to arrive no later than 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure for boarding. 

Is there parking available?

Yes! We have designated free parking for all of our customers.

Are we allowed to bring food?

Yes! Guests are more than welcome to bring their own snacks or light fare to bridge the lunch hour.

How do we get off at the beach?

For our island stops, we use a series of steps from the front of our boat to the sand. Typically, you can step right from the boat/steps to the sand. However, on occasion it may be up to ankle deep.

What should we wear?

Guests who wish to swim during their island stop should wear their bathing suits on board as there are no changing facilities at the island. Swimwear is strongly encouraged for all guests as the water is refreshing and crystal clear. Be sure to pack a towel for the ride back!

Is your vessel handicap accessible?

Unfortunately we are not handicap accessible at this time. Guests with limited mobility (i.e. walkers, canes) should call our office prior to booking. A good rule of thumb is if the limited mobility passenger is able to make it up 2-3 standard stairs with assistance. Our crew is always here to help and eager to share our memorable trip with all!

Dolphins Have Training Camp Reporting Dates

The Miami Dolphins now have their training camp reporting dates.

The NFL announced Tuesday the reporting dates for rookies and veterans for all 32 teams, and the Dolphins dates will be July 16 (rookies) and July 23 (veterans).

The Dolphins' full training camp schedule will be announced soon, but we can tell you the team had 10 practices open to the public last summer.

We already know the Dolphins will be conducting four joint practices this summer — with/against the Atlanta Falcons on Aug. 6-7 at the Baptist Health Training Complex in Miami Gardens, with/against the Washington Commanders on Aug. 15 in Miami, and with/against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Aug. 21 in Tampa.

For those wondering why two joint practices against Atlanta but only one against Washington and Tampa Bay, that's a result of the Collective Bargaining Agreement limiting each team to a total of four joint practices every summer.

The Dolphins' preseason schedule begins Aug. 9 against Atlanta at Hard Rock Stadium, followed by an Aug. 17 against Washington also at Hard Rock Stadium, and the preseason finale against the Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on Friday, Aug. 23.

The roster moves down to the 53-player limit will take place Tuesday, Aug. 27.

The Dolphins open the 2024 regular season against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 8.
