Manila Villamor Airbase Golf Course Shared Tour with Caddie, Insurance & Transfers

Description

Go golfing inside the Villamor Air Base, the headquarters of the Philippine Air Force, through this shared day tour. This golf course features mostly even terrain with only slight slopes and a handful of water hazards, making it a great place for beginners. The tour already comes with green fees, caddie fees, insurance, and seat-in-coach transfers from Manila or Makati City for a hassle-free day of golf. 

On the day of your tour, a designated driver will fetch you from your agreed-upon pick-up point in Manila or Makati City. If you are staying outside of these cities, you can still request a transfer but will need to pay an additional fee. After settling in the vehicle, you will make your way to the Villamor Air Base Golf Course in Pasay City to start your tour. This tour lasts about 4 to 8 hours, depending on your pace. 

The entire course is built on about 60 hectares of land and has about 18 holes. In line with the golf course's location, each hole here is named after military aircraft used by the Philippine Air Force. At each hole, you will also get to read up on the importance of the military aircraft it was named after and when the Philippine Air Force used it. 

If you don't have your golfing equipment with you, you can head to the pro shop near the golf course to rent some gear for an additional fee. Should you want to prepare beforehand, you can head to the putting and pitching greens to practice your swing. After completing the 18-hole course, you can freshen up in the changing room before leaving. When you're good to go, a driver will escort you back to your drop-off point in Manila or Makati City.

Tour Information: This shared tour is available daily. Pickup at 05:30 AM.

Meet-up Information: Guide to the Philippines will send tour reminders at least (1) day before the tour date through your registered email address. Make sure to have the electronic copy of your confirmed tour voucher ready. On the day of the tour, your assigned Tour Guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to start of the tour. Strictly no latecomers or tour reservation might be forfeited.

This is a seat-in coach tour. Vehicle type to be used will vary depending on number of guests. Meals or drinks are not yet included. Equipment like golf cart, golf club, and golf shoes are available at an additional fee.

Tour Proper: Please be reminded also to dress appropriately. Be mindful of your personal belongings during the tour.

Pet Friendly: No. Please understand that the establishment does not allow pets inside.

Senior Citizen/PWD Friendly: Yes. However, please be advised that this tour includes mostly walking tours and may not be suitable for PWDs or individuals with existing cardiovascular ailments.

Cancellation Policy: The operator may cancel the activity in case of force majeure or unforeseen circumstances like weather conditions. In this case, you will be given the option to reschedule or request a full refund. Schedule cancellation requests must be made 48 hours before your original subject to approval. No shows are not entitled to reschedule and refund.

Fresh challenges await at ICTSI Lakewood Championship

At a glance.

The untested layout notwithstanding, the men of the Philippine Golf Tour brace for a spirited duel of ball control, precision and accuracy when the ICTSI Lakewood Championship kicks off on Tuesday, June 4, in Nueva Ecija.

The Lakewood Golf and Country Club in Cabanatuan City is hosting a tournament of this caliber for the first time, presenting a new kind of challenge with its unfamiliar terrain and greens, which levels the playing field for the country’s leading players and rising stars.

While the cast has played the course once or twice during practice rounds, several pros get their last chance to re-familiarize themselves with the 7,049-yard layout in today’s traditional pro-am tournament, where they will be paired with amateur guests of the sponsoring ICTSI and event’s supporters.

The course boasts multi-bunker fairways interconnected by 16 man-made lakes serving as water hazards, emphasizing the importance of course management.

While the seasoned campaigners look to dominate, the young talents aim to sustain their impressive performance from the last PGT leg in the Philippine Masters, where Hyun Ho Rho slugged it out with veteran Angelo Que in a thrilling duel before losing steam in the stretch, settling for a runner-up finish.

However, the 19-year-old Korean is eager for another shot at a breakthrough win, along with Aidric Chan, who finished solo sixth, and Ryan Monsalve, who ended up seventh after leading the first two rounds.

A couple of aces who won two of the first four legs of this year’s 10-stage tour, organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. and supported by PGTI official apparel Kampfortis Golf, also seek to redeem themselves from mediocre performances at the Masters, including Apo leg winner Jhonnel Ababa and Caliraya Springs champion Clyde Mondilla.

Tony Lascuna, who tied for third the last time, is also expected to figure in the title hunt in the P2.5 million championship, along with fellow former leg winners Rupert Zaragosa, Reymon Jaraula, Guido van der Valk, Michael Bibat and Zanieboy Gialon.

Que, however, has bowed out due to a previous commitment, while Lloyd Go, who shared third place with Lascuna and amateur Jeffren Lumbo at the Masters, is competing in the Abema Tour in Japan, also this week.

Still, the field remains as talent-laden as ever with players like Sean Ramos, Dino Villanueva, Jay Bayron, Nilo Salahog, Russel Bautista, Kristoffer Arevalo, Ivan Monsalve and Jonas Magcalayo ready to spring a surprise or two.

Daiya Suzuki, who tied for eighth at the Masters, along with Ozeki Kakeru, Fukuyama Kota, Collin Wheeler, Kang Chonkoo, Koi Inoue and Myungchal Hwang form part of a formidable foreign contingent that adds another layer of challenge to the 72-hole championship.

U.S. Open Final Qualifying 2024: Who's in, who's out and everything you need to know from 'Golf's Longest Day'

The label “Golf’s Longest Day” is one of the game's better cliches yet it almost undersells all that takes place as the USGA fills out the field for the 2024 U.S. Open. With 10 Final Qualifying events spread out around the U.S. and Canada, each 36-hole affairs, a total of 687 amateurs and professionals (out of 10,000-plus who initially entered) are trying to be able to say something that many aspire but few can boast of accomplishing:

I qualified for a major championship.

There are 44 spots available this Monday, the number varying by site. Those who advance will join the 23 who have already advanced from the first three Final Qualifying events held two weeks ago and the 85 who were fully exempt. ( Click here for a complete list of the field so far).

LUBAO, Pampanga – Lisa Sarines triumphed in the girls’ 11-14 category of the Junior Philippine Golf Tour Luzon Series 2, scoring a wire-to-wire victory with a 72, while Geoffrey Tan dominated the boys’ side at the Pradera Verde Golf and Country Club here yesterday (Thursday).

Sarines, who finished third in the JPGT’s kickoff leg at Splendido Taal, secured her first series win by holding onto her overnight four-stroke lead over Levonne Talion, despite a shaky front nine stint that featured three birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey.

Her even-par card in the final round brought her to a 54-hole total of 223, five strokes clear of twin sister Mona.

Talion, who seized solo second with a 76 Wednesday, fell five strokes behind with a frontside 37. Despite a birdie on the 12th, she missed opportunities to close the gap, bogeying two of the last five holes for a 74 for a 229, enabling Mona Sarines, who also matched par 72, to snatch runner-up honors at 228.

Series I champion Precious Zaragosa struggled to an 82 and ended up fourth with 248.

“There was pressure because Mona started making more birdies than me, and I knew she could catch up if I made a mistake on any hole. I was aware she could easily take advantage,” said Lisa, 12. Despite this, she relied on her mother’s advice “to just manage the pressure.”

“I was able to handle it (pressure) in the end,” added Lisa, who acknowledged the need to improve her long game, putting and course management. “This win means a lot to me, and I’m happy that I won.”

Tan, meanwhile, marked his JPGT debut with a resounding 19-stroke victory over first leg winner Vito Sarines with a closing 70. He took a commanding 12-stroke lead after 18 holes following an impressive two-under 70 and stretched it to 18 with a 73 in the second round.

Despite some struggles, including dropping two strokes on the fifth hole and bogeying the next, Tan’s closing two-under card secured a total of 213, well ahead of the 19-player field, setting a record early in the series.

Vito Sarines finished way back at 232 after a 71, while Zianbeau Edoc placed third at 237 after a 76.

“I didn’t expect to dominate because I knew I had tough competitors,” said the 14-year-old Tan, reflecting on his runaway victory. “I feel good about this win, it has given me the confidence I need for my upcoming competitions in the US.”

Tan is set to participate in several tournaments in North Carolina before heading to the Junior World in San Diego in July.

Lisa Sarines and Tan thus joined Ryuji Suzuki and Georgina Handog, who topped the 8-10 division on Wednesday, with Suzuki emerging as the first player to achieve back-to-back victories in the 14-leg series, organized to promote the sport and discover new talents through its nationwide circuit. Three legs are scheduled in the Visayas while the Mindanao swing will feature four tournaments.

Despite her day-long struggle with her shots, Jiwon Lee maintained firm control in the girls’ 15-18 division of the three-category series put up by ICTSI and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. She built a commanding 12-stroke lead with an eagle-spiked 66 in the first round and extended it to 18 shots with a 72 Wednesday, before settling for a 17-stroke lead with a 74 in the third round.

“I struggled today (yesterday), I had very bad drives and very bad irons. I wasn’t doing really well with the up-and-down, which is why I scored a lot of bogeys,” rued Lee, who shot five birdies but negated them with five bogeys and a double-bogey.

However, with a four-under 212 aggregate, Lee is poised to exceed her target score and secure another runaway victory following a 13-stroke romp over Lia Duque at Splendido Taal.

Reese Ng carded a 34 after two 78s for a 229 while Duque hobbled with a 75 and remained in third place with a 237.

“I’ll try to bring back the confidence I had on the first day and make a good comeback,” Lee added.

In the boys’ division of the premier class, Shinichi Suzuki broke away from a tight third round battle with Tristan Padilla, shooting a five-under 31 on the third nine of the vast Pradera Verde complex on his way to a 67.

Padilla, who had tied with Suzuki at 148 after a big second-round 71, couldn’t keep up despite an eagle on the final hole.

Suzuki’s play on Pradera’s first nine resulted in a two-birdie, two-bogey output for a five-under round and a 215 total, giving him a five-stroke cushion over Padilla, who ended with a 220 after a 72.

“I played really great today (yesterday). All my tee shots and approach shots were on line, and my putts kept dropping, so I’m really happy with how I played,” said Shinichi Suzuki, whose 36-31 card, which featured eight birdies against three bogeys, was 11 strokes better than his 78 Wednesday.

He plans to stay cautious and aware of the potential pitfalls, aiming to consistently make par, maintain his lead and focus on hitting fairways and greens.

Santino Pineda, meanwhile, squandered a brilliant third nine 33 with two bogeys and two double bogeys on the first nine, finishing with a 75 for a share of third at 227 with Mark Kobayashi, who stumbled with a 77.
