Performance Viewer App Guide

Sep 17, 2023 • knowledge, information, article quick links, why use performance viewer.

  • View the inner workings of an individual client's performance returns.
  • Drill all the way down to an individual asset's returns for a particular client.
  • Deep dive into the performance calculations for a client.  View multiple return periods and entity levels in the same place.
  • Troubleshoot performance numbers on a report and from other areas in Orion.

Reading the Results

To digest the sheer amount of data on the screen once the returns are loaded, it is important to know what some columns and data points contain or refer to. Below is a quick list of the important pieces of the performance puzzle and how to decipher them. Period - Whenever you see the title of "Period" in the performance (or on reports), it is referring to the custom Start and End Date dates you entered prior to the generation of the results. Value Change  - In the Details section of the Performance Viewer results, you will always see a column titled Value Change. It is vital to understand that this column does not mean the sheer dollar value difference added or lost between dates. The data points that are used to tabulate the Value Change each day include things like price fluctuations, dividends, and interest values being paid out, etc. Things like Contributions, Distributions, or any other cash flow in or out of the account is not included in the value. Think of this as the core value of the entity, not the values represented by cash movement in or out of the entity. There is a separate Cash Flows column for those data points. Beginning Accrued Interest  - If the entity you're analyzing has fixed income as part of its makeup, you may see data plugged in this column during certain periods where interest is due. This column is intended to represent the total accrued interest value on that particular date based on the rate information stored on the product and the value of the asset during that interest period.  Accrued Interest Change  - Similar to the above-mentioned interest data point, this is the single daily change in the accrued interest amount for that entity for the given period. Typically, this is smaller in value, and you are able to find the next day's Beginning Accrued Interest Value by adding a single date's Beginning Accrued Interest Value to the Accrued Interest Change for that same day. Factor  - This value is absolutely vital to proving out a TWR period return. The factor value is used in the geometric linking of the returns, meaning each daily factor is multiplied by the next day's factor value, the next day's, and so on. The factor calculation is actually quite simple. Below is a basic formula, as well as a formula when accrued interest is included:

  • Factor = (Value Change / Beginning Market Value) + 1
  • Factor = {(Accrued Interest Change + Value Change) / (Beginning Accrued Interest + Beginning Market Value)} +1

Performance  - The value in the performance column for each day is very straightforward as well. Orion uses a modified simple rate of return for each individual day's calculation and then links them together using the factor value represented above. The daily core calculation for TWR is as follows:

  • Performance = (Value Change / Beginning Market Value) x 100
  • Performance = (Accrued Interest Change + Value Change) / (Beginning Accrued Interest + Beginning Market Value) x 100

FACT SHEET: President   Biden Announces New Actions to Keep Families   Together

Since his first day in office, President Biden has called on Congress to secure our border and address our broken immigration system. As Congressional Republicans have continued to put partisan politics ahead of national security – twice voting against the toughest and fairest set of reforms in decades – the President and his Administration have taken actions to secure the border, including:

  • Implementing executive actions to bar migrants who cross our Southern border unlawfully from receiving asylum when encounters are high;
  • Deploying record numbers of law enforcement personnel, infrastructure, and technology to the Southern border;
  • Seizing record amounts of fentanyl at our ports of entry;
  • Revoking the visas of CEOs and government officials outside the U.S. who profit from migrants coming to the U.S. unlawfully; and
  • Expanding efforts to dismantle human smuggling networks and prosecuting individuals who violate immigration laws.

President Biden believes that securing the border is essential. He also believes in expanding lawful pathways and keeping families together, and that immigrants who have been in the United States for decades, paying taxes and contributing to their communities, are part of the social fabric of our country. The Day One immigration reform plan that the President sent to Congress reflects both the need for a secure border and protections for the long-term undocumented. While Congress has failed to act on these reforms, the Biden-Harris Administration has worked to strengthen our lawful immigration system. In addition to vigorously defending the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood arrivals) policy, the Administration has extended Affordable Care Act coverage to DACA recipients and streamlined, expanded, and instituted new reunification programs so that families can stay together while they complete the immigration process.  Still, there is more that we can do to bring peace of mind and stability to Americans living in mixed-status families as well as young people educated in this country, including Dreamers. That is why today, President Biden announced new actions for people who have been here many years to keep American families together and allow more young people to contribute to our economy.   Keeping American Families Together

  • Today, President Biden is announcing that the Department of Homeland Security will take action to ensure that U.S. citizens with noncitizen spouses and children can keep their families together.
  • This new process will help certain noncitizen spouses and children apply for lawful permanent residence – status that they are already eligible for – without leaving the country.
  • These actions will promote family unity and strengthen our economy, providing a significant benefit to the country and helping U.S. citizens and their noncitizen family members stay together.
  • In order to be eligible, noncitizens must – as of June 17, 2024 – have resided in the United States for 10 or more years and be legally married to a U.S. citizen, while satisfying all applicable legal requirements. On average, those who are eligible for this process have resided in the U.S. for 23 years.
  • Those who are approved after DHS’s case-by-case assessment of their application will be afforded a three-year period to apply for permanent residency. They will be allowed to remain with their families in the United States and be eligible for work authorization for up to three years. This will apply to all married couples who are eligible.
  • This action will protect approximately half a million spouses of U.S. citizens, and approximately 50,000 noncitizen children under the age of 21 whose parent is married to a U.S. citizen.

Easing the Visa Process for U.S. College Graduates, Including Dreamers

  • President Obama and then-Vice President Biden established the DACA policy to allow young people who were brought here as children to come out of the shadows and contribute to our country in significant ways. Twelve years later, DACA recipients who started as high school and college students are now building successful careers and establishing families of their own.
  • Today’s announcement will allow individuals, including DACA recipients and other Dreamers, who have earned a degree at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education in the United States, and who have received an offer of employment from a U.S. employer in a field related to their degree, to more quickly receive work visas.
  • Recognizing that it is in our national interest to ensure that individuals who are educated in the U.S. are able to use their skills and education to benefit our country, the Administration is taking action to facilitate the employment visa process for those who have graduated from college and have a high-skilled job offer, including DACA recipients and other Dreamers.

Using comedy as a way to uplift her community and create safe spaces for comedy fans from all walks of life, Key also donates to local nonprofits with every date on her 2024 Lesbian Army Tour. In Amarillo, she’ll donate to Smile Big Texas, an Amarillo nonprofit that supports local LGBTQIA+ youth. Key, who broke into the national comedy scene on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” also has competed in NBC’s “Bring the Funny” and made appearances on VH1, SiriusXM and more. She has released six full-length comedy albums and one DryBar comedy special.

Key grew up a minister’s daughter in the conservative West Texas town of Amarillo. Unsurprisingly, when Kristin came out of the closet at 16, it did not go well. So, she said, “Just kidding!” and went back in the closet. At 19, while in college to become a paramedic, Kristin signed up for a local open mic at the Amarillo Comedy Club that would change her life forever. Now 20 years after that first open mic, Kristin is a nationally headlining comedian with material about everything from queer culture and relationship dynamics to cats and crocheting. She currently hosts “Kristin Knows Blank,” a popular comedy podcast available on all major streaming platforms. Kristin's additional credits include “Comics Unleashed,” VH1’s “100 Greatest” series, “The Bob and Tom Show” and more. Learn more at kristinkey.com, or follow her on social media.

'Photography is Art' exhibit opens at AMoA

The exhibition "Photography is Art" will be on display through Aug. 11 at the Amarillo Museum of Art, located at 2200 South Van Buren on the Washington Street campus of Amarillo College.

Art museums have not always embraced photography. One of the earliest museum efforts to define the medium’s contribution to the arts came in the mid-1930s, when New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) asked its librarian, Beaumont Newhall, to create an exhibition survey of photographic history. That 1937 show led to a 25-year debate inside MoMA over whether to treat photographs as works of personal expression on par with painting, or as vibrant, easily reproduceable tools for communication and persuasion.

This exhibition was originally organized by the Amon Carter Museum of American Art with objects from its expansive photography collection. The current presentation was reconceived as a team project with AMoA, the Art Museum of South Texas, and Ellen Noël Art Museum. The artworks tell a story of American photographers’ efforts, from the late nineteenth century on, to explore and proclaim photography’s artfulness.

Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. For additional information, visit www.amoa.org, email [email protected], or call (806) 371-5050 or (806) 371-5392 (weekends).

Boston's duck boats are famous: What's their history?

What do you think of when you think of sports championship parades in Boston , besides the teams themselves?

That's easy - duck boats.

Those are the cool looking boat-like vehicles that can travel on land and water, and have become a staple in transporting athletes during championship parades. The New England Patriots , Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins have all used the boats at such parades.

On Friday, they'll roll out for a nother parade celebrating the Celtic's newest championship.

But when the duck boats are not transporting championship teams through the streets, they can be seen traveling the streets and water of Boston showcasing the city to tourists and residents alike.

Live Coverage of the Celtics Parade: The duck boats are ready to rally! Follow the Celtics parade today

Cue the duck boats! Celtics 2024 NBA championship parade details

What are duck boats?

Duck boats are colorful, bulky, boat-like vehicles that travel throughout Boston on land and on water. Boston Duck Tours are 80-minutes in length - 60 minutes on land and 20 minutes on the Charles River. Boston Duck Tours began rolling through the streets of Boston in October 1994.

How many duck boats does Boston have?

There are 28 amphibious duck boats - called ducks - used by Boston Duck Tours. Each duck is colorfully painted and named after Boston landmarks such as "Fenway Fanny," "Kenmore Karla," "Charlie River," "Longfellow Bridget," "Miss Emma Science," "Beantown Betty," 'Beacon Hilda," and "Symphony Hal."

Do Boston duck tours go in the water?

Yes. Boston Duck Tours splash into the Charles River for approximately 20 minutes of each 80 minute city tour. According to the tour website, you will not get wet on the tour, but could get a light spray depending on the wind direction.

How many championship parades have used the duck boats?

The duck boats have been used for championship parades in Boston since 2002. The Boston Duck Boat website states, "Boston Duck Tours, over the years, has had the honor and pleasure of hosting four of Boston’s sports teams in Rolling Rally Championship parades 12 different times."

According to the website, with duck boats "players could stand on, and wave to the crowds below. It was close enough to get these players right up to their fans. But, also far enough to keep them from being mobbed by the crowds."

A brief history of duck boats

The History Channel explained that allied troops used duck boats to get artillery, supplies and soldiers ashore during  World War II .

" DUKW boats made their first appearance in combat during the 1943  invasion of Sicily  known as Operation Husky," History.com states. "The name 'DUKW' corresponded to General Motors’ manufacturing code (“D” is “1942 model,” “U” is “amphibious,” “K” is “all-wheel drive,” and “W” is “dual rear wheels”). Soldiers simplified this by calling them “ducks.”

"Like actual ducks, these boat-trucks with wheels looked a little awkward. But their weird design is what allowed troops to drive the vehicles from water onto land—a crucially important task."

Where do the duck boats depart from in Boston?

According to the Boston Duck Tour website , there are three departure locations:

  • Prudential Center, 53 Huntington Ave.
  • Museum of Science, One Science Park.
  • New England Aquarium, Central Wharf.

How many duck boat tour companies are there in Boston?

Boston Duck Tours is the only duck tour company in Boston.

Do other cities have duck boats?

There are other states that do duck boat tours , like Tennessee, Alaska, Wisconsin, California, Florida, Maine and Texas, among others.

Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim reacted the same way to protest disruption at PGA Tour

I n a show of sportsmanship amid chaos , Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim had the same reaction when protestors disrupted the Travelers Championship on Sunday, choosing to support each other. As they were wrapping up the final round, which would crown the winner, six climate activists barged onto the 18th green, brandishing smoke bombs.

The disturbance was brief but had the potential to upset the high-stakes PGA Tour event.

Scheffler ultimately clinched the title after a playoff with Kim, bouncing back impressively from his U.S. Open disappointment. Both players remained composed during the unexpected interruption.

"From my point of view, they got it taken care of pretty dang fast, and so we were very grateful for that," Scheffler commented. "When something like that happens, you don't really know what's happening, so it can kind of rattle you a little bit.

"That can be a stressful situation, and you would hate for the tournament to end on something weird happening because of a situation like that. I felt like Tom and I both tried to calm each other down so we could give it our best shot there on 18."

The Cromwell Police Department received high praise from the PGA Tour for their swift and effective action in dealing with trespassers, leading to several arrests. Protesters donned white tees emblazoned with "NO GOLF ON A DEAD PLANET" as they made their statement.

The putting green needed a cleanup after smoke bomb residue left marks, while spectators erupted into "USA, USA" chants as police escorted the demonstrators away. Golf tournaments are no strangers to weather interruptions, often halting play for rain, which was a point of inspiration for the protest.

The activist collective Extinction Rebellion stepped forward, taking credit for the disruption and sharing their motives with the Associated Press. Their statement highlighted the impact of "This was of course due to increasingly unpredictable and extreme weather conditions," on events like golf.

Highlighting the sport's dependency on favorable weather, the group pointed out: "Golf, more than other events, is heavily reliant on good weather. Golf fans should therefore understand better than most the need for strong, immediate climate action."

Post-protest, golfer Kim expressed his annoyance with the green's condition but acknowledged that player safety and the authorities' response were paramount. "They left a lot of marks on the greens, which is not right for us players - especially when two guys are trying to win a golf tournament," he remarked.

Scheffler expressed his gratitude towards the PGA Tour's security, saying, "But I'm very grateful for the tour and the tour security for handling that really well and making us players feel a lot safer."

Kicking off their latest tour, the punk rockers jammed through a set of 25 songs tinged with nostalgia for ’90s kids (myself included). Everyone, including the band members, has grown up a bit since Blink’s early releases. Though the angsty teenagers who remember buying the band’s CDs have now joined the world of adult jobs and families, what hasn’t changed are the timeless hits and the band’s sense of humor — which still feels fresh out of middle school. Because of that, many of the specific jokes and quips are too irreverent to print. But for many fans, therein lies the whole appeal.

The pop-punk act launched into the evening with early 2000s hits “Feeling This” and “The Rock Show,” which had an extra burst of energy from the pyrotechnics. Seeing the musicians on stage together — Mark Hoppus with his dark, spiky hair and Tom DeLonge with his backward hat — made it clear what works so well in the dynamics between the two. Hoppus handles the low end with his baritone voice and grungy bass, while DeLonge carries the angsty upper end of the vocals and guitar riffs.

The drummer, often the unsung hero of a rock band, took his rightful place center stage with dazzling moments throughout the night. One part man, one part beat-making machine, Travis Barker never ceased to amaze the thousands of people packed into the sold-out arena.

While the songs ranged from throwback mid-90s releases to new tunes off the band’s latest album, “One More Time…”, fans relished the chance to sing along to the more popular hits.

During “I Miss You,” DeLonge dropped out to hear the crowd sing in unison, “Where are you? And I’m so sorry.” It was especially powerful because of the in-the-round seating with fans on all sides of the circular stage, which resembled the band’s logo when viewed from above.

While DeLonge and Hoppus stayed planted on the stage throughout the night, except for the occasional jump, Barker had his moment to shine while elevating above the stage on his drum platform. He stayed there for several songs as lasers flashed over the crowd.

As Blink’s fan base has grown older, the band’s music also has aged and matured. While releases of the late ’90s and early 2000s focused on teenage debauchery, crushes and partying, the latest album feels more sentimental and reflective.

As the end of the show approached, “Anthem Part 3” paid homage to the band’s history (“Anthem” from 1999 and “Anthem Part Two” from 2001), calling to mind the “rising of a new tide” and dreams that have fallen by the wayside before ending on a hopeful note.

After a quick succession of hits from “What’s My Age Again” to “First Date,” “All the Small Things” and “Dammit,” it was time for the trio to call an end to the night, which had opened with sets from jxdn and Pierce The Veil. Leaving nothing up to the imagination, Hoppus said, “This is the encore. You don’t have to cheer, we’re going to play it anyway.”

The final song was the slow, stripped down, “One More Time,” which recalls the band’s recent history. DeLonge, who left the band for the second time in 2015, returned to the group last year after singer Hoppus’ battle with cancer. The song also recalls the 2008 plane crash that Barker survived. Ultimately, it pays tribute to a rekindled friendship based on music that has stood the test of time. The rockers are still here, despite the odds, much to the delight of the thousands gathered for an evening of nostalgic pop-punk jams.
