I went on this tour with Dalila, the owner's daughter, as I'm injured and didn't want to adventure on my own just in case. This was probably one of the most rewarding experiences of my month of travels in the Azores. Sao Jorge is definitely a very special island and this hike made it even more special. The walk is full of beauty, great views, amazing flora, pretty birds and a gorgeous and very clean waterfall, it feels like an untouched paradise. Dalila was very generous and patient with me, she understood that I had to go very slowly and took my time, she even carried my lunch on her backpack. Even that she is the younger guide I had, she was the best and you can feel the love she has for her island and the passion she puts in her work. It was a very unique and special experience. We were pucked up 7AM at our house and drove to Pico trail head. The trail is very challenging. You are walking on rocks 90% of the time. 5% climbing and 5% normal paths. The last climb to the crater is VERY steep and takes about 20 min. The view is amazing. But you need to be prepared for the challenge. Our children (aged 14, 15, 18) are fit and where wearing fitness and running sneakers. My wife and I had trekking shoes. If I had known the difficulty of this trail, I would have forced them to wear proper shoes. The full trail is 8 km. We did it in 6:45h. It was way more challenging, than we had imagined. We expected to catch big fish in the middel of the Antlantic Ocean, but this was sadly not possible, but despite that we cought a lot of deep sea fish at about 30 cm plus, which we were quite thrilled about. Jamie didn't feel we got the full experience which is why he invited us on a trip to see some underwater caves. It was amazing to see island secret places from the sea. Captain know many nice places, special experience was swimming/diving into a cave with an entrance under the water. What was the concept of turtle festival?

It's about  witnessing the birth of young turtles that hatch from their eggs and slowly crawl into the ocean to start the journey of their life . This festival is also called Olive Ridley Turtle Festival is organized by local villagers. They do so in coordination with an NGO called Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra.

08:30 PM:  Report to the trekleaders at Fergusson College Main Gate, (opposite Starbucks), FC Road. Departure to Velas.

• 09:00 PM:  Pick-ups from Wakad Flyover (Towards Hinjewadi)

​​09:20 PM:  Shivaji Chowk, Hinjewadi phase 

Day 1: (Saturday) 

• 05:45 AM: Arrive in Velas and head directly to the Beach for the Morning hatching Session of the turtles 
• 06:30 AM : Witness the Beautiful Sunrise on the Beach 
• 07.00 AM:  Enjoy the First Turtle Hatching Session
• 08:30 AM: Return to our stay property in the village, Get freshen up, have Breakfast, and enjoy a leisurely vibe in the village 
• 11:00 AM: Visit the strategically built Himmatgad Fort which overlooks the sea and the Bankot creek.
• 01:30 PM: Lunchtime 
• 03:00 PM: Explore the areas around Velas or have a rest.
• 04:00 PM: Leave towards the Beach for the Evening's second hatching session. Have a fun time at the beach, Enjoy the sunset, and come back to our stay property for Dinner.
• 08:30 PM:  Have Dinner. Overnight stay.

• 06:00 AM: Wake up call, Get ready, and head towards the beach for the Third Hatching Session

• 11:00 PM: Explore Harihareshwar Temple.

• Normal bedsheet or blanket to sleep inside the tent or room.
• Cameras, glares, etc. can be carried at your own risk.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

• 75% refund within 5-7 working days, if notified 8 or more days prior to the event date.
• 50 % refund within 5-7 working days, if notified 4 to 7 days prior to the event date.
• No refund, if notified less than 3 days prior to the event date
• No show No Refund.
• Event Tickets cannot be transferred to another date against cancellation.
• Event Tickets can be transferred to another person against cancellation.
• If we cancel the trek, only the "Billing Amount" will be refunded, payment gateway fee is non-refundable.

Trekhievers Policy:

• We strictly follow no alcohol, no drugs, and no litter policy.
• Seats will be reserved only after full payment.
• A complete schedule of the trek will be given to the registered participants 12 Hours prior on WhatsApp.
• Organizers have all the right to modify or change the schedule in case of any unavoidable circumstance.
• The tour is weather based and depends on the weather conditions. There may be last-minute cancellations if weather conditions deteriorate.
