Guitar Hero: World Tour

The fourth main game in the series, Guitar Hero: World Tour, introduces a significant update to the premise. Following the introduction of Rock Band, which expanded on the Guitar Hero concept by adding more instruments, World Tour includes these, allowing players to perform together as a real band. In addition to the guitar, which served as the primary peripheral in previous versions, the bundled edition of the game includes a microphone for vocal sections and drums for percussion. The guitar tracks are split up for the lead and bass, much like in the previous round. The words and voice pitch are shown near the top of the screen, while the bottom part is divided up for bass guitar, lead guitar, and drums, each with its own set of notes that must be hit to play the role correctly.

A rock meter keeps track of each player’s successive notes hit, which leads to score multipliers. Other players can compensate using a shared overall performance meter when the meter goes too low. Similarly, participants share a star power meter that any player may access after completing key portions.

There are four difficulty levels and a new beginner mode in which notes are made as simple as possible to expose new players to the concept. Most of the game material revolves around a Career mode (both Solo and Band), in which players form a new band, select an avatar and an instrument, and then play several gigs, unlocking new songs. Track completion rewards money that can be used on clothing or tools. There are encore songs and “boss challenges” where the lead guitar enters a duel once more. Battles are similar to those in Guitar Hero III but without the power-ups. Instead, it reverts to the Face-Off mode’s call-and-response mechanic. Bands are made up of offline players. However, online members can also join. Wide bands can compete online in the Battle of the Bands mode.

New songs can be written and shared utilizing the GHTunes service (not for the PS2) using the Music Studio editor. The Create-a-Rocker option in this edition allows for more detailed customization of avatars. Major artists have granted permission for their images to appear in the game. The Wii version includes a Mii Freestyle mode in which players may use their Mii avatars in-game to produce songs using Wii remote and Nunchuk controller motions.

Different packages for the game depend on the number of instruments included. Still, there is a stand-alone version because most performances are compatible with prior game controllers and some Rock Band controllers.

Guitar Hero World Tour (initially referred to as Guitar Hero IV or Guitar Hero IV: World Tour) is a music rhythm game developed by Neversoft, published by Activision and distributed by RedOctane. It is the fourth main entry in the Guitar Hero series, the sixth on home consoles and the seventh overall. The game was launched in North America in October 2008 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 consoles, and a month later for Europe and Australia. A version of World Tour for Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh was later released.

You can try downloading x360ce and converting the guitar inputs into an xbox 360 controller inputs. Or you simply need to downloading the guitar driver, like with steering whells

Downloadable Content ( DLC for short) was additional content that was played on the core game. DLC was first present in the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II . DLC was sorted by pack, then price, then release date (or if sold separately, price would be next to the song).

On April 1, 2014, the Guitar Hero , DJ Hero , and Band Hero music stores were shut down, and all downloadable content associated with them are no longer accessible. From March 18, 2014 until then, the price of downloadable packs became 50% off. [1]

Guitar Hero II (Xbox 360) [ ]

The Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II allows for the use of downloadable content available through Xbox Live. These are typically released as packs of three, or as single song. [2] These packs include songs from the first Guitar Hero for the PlayStation 2. [3] Additional packs consist of songs that have not been featured in Guitar Hero before, and are masters, even though some are indicated as covers in the game.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock [ ]

Both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 version of Guitar Hero III feature the ability to download additional songs from the consoles' respective online stores. Most songs must be purchased in "track packs" of three and cannot be purchased individually while only some songs are available as "singles." There are a number of free songs available. The downloadable songs have been released on the same day on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store , with five exceptions. Besides the two console-exclusive songs, the three songs from the Companion Pack were not released for the PlayStation 3 until August 7, 2008.

In addition to custom songs, players of the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii versions can download new licensed songs for the game. This is the first game in the Guitar Hero series to support download functionality on the Wii. [44] Wii users can store downloaded songs on either the Wii's internal memory or on an SD Card in a "Rock Archive". [45] When playing tracks stored on an SD Card, each song is automatically copied to a 200-memory block "content cache" on the Wii's flash memory for play and then deleted after the song is finished. All downloadable content (minus the Jimi Hendrix songs) will be forward-compatible with Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero , automatically updated to include new features found in that game. [48] [49] [50]

Downloadable songs cost 160 Microsoft Points each for Xbox 360 users, $1.99 each ( PlayStation Store ) for PS3, or 200 Wii Points for Wii, with a limited number of songs available free of charge. Also, users can purchase track packs of three songs released together for 440 Microsoft Points, 550 Wii Points, or $5.49 for PS3. The Jimi Hendrix Track Pack was originally only available for download as a track pack and not as individual songs, [51] but Activision announced that in March the Wii would receive the Hendrix pack as downloadable singles. These songs have since been released with the second Jimi Hendrix Track Pack. [52]

Guitar Hero 5 [ ]

Guitar Hero 5 supports downloadable content ; the first songs were made available shortly after the game's release. In addition, 152 of the 158 available downloadable songs for Guitar Hero World Tour are forward-compatible with Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero ; the existing content is automatically upgraded to include all features new to these games and was immediately available to players upon release of Guitar Hero 5 . [82] [83] [84] Downloaded songs can be used in all game modes, provided all players have the song, including in the game's Career mode when players are given the option to select any song to play. The entire Guitar Hero 5 DLC library is also available in Band Hero, and vice versa, so both games embrace the same DLC library.

September 7th 2010 saw the release of the last track pack for Guitar Hero 5 ; All existing Guitar Hero 5 downloadable content is forward-compatible with Warriors of Rock , however, Warriors of Rock add-on content is not backward-compatible with Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero .

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock [ ]

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock provides the capacity to purchase more songs that can be played in the game alongside the on-disc soundtrack through downloadable content for each console. All previous downloadable content that worked with Guitar Hero 5 can be played within Warriors of Rock .

Initial shipments of the game in the United States are also bundled with Soundgarden 's latest album, Telephantasm , which includes the new track "Black Rain" and other previous Soundgarden songs; "Black Rain" is available on the Warriors of Rock disc to play, while the remaining eleven tracks on the album, songs from previous Soundgarden albums, were available as downloadable content alongside release of the game. [102] [103] [104] Due to this bundling, Telephantasm became the first album to achieve " platinum " status from the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping over 1 million non-refunded albums due to the tie-in with a video-game product.
