Making returns.

Agoda's return policy provides guidelines on refunds based on cancelations. On booking, Agoda sends an email specifying the duration during which your cancelation will not attract a penalty. Agoda review—hotels

Have been very happy using Agoda, mostly for travel outside the USA. I only use Agoda for booking hotels so can’t speak to other services (flights, trains, etc.) offered. I also do my research and check other apps before booking, but in general I prefer Agoda over other apps because of the way the search & filters are set up, because I usually find the cheapest prices on Agoda, and because so many options/filters are customizable. Many times what appears to be the exact same room is shown at multiple price points, often because there are little options like courtyard view, full breakfast buffet, tub and shower, etc. which are not distinguished on Agoda but are known to the hotel. After booking it’s good to contact the hotel and inquire about those things, along with airport pickup and whatever else you may need. I have never had issues with Agoda, even when canceling my reservation. However, I have had occasional issues with other apps. That’s why I usually check Agoda first, check other places, and then come back to Agoda to book.

Infuriating experience

I booked a room at Motel 6 for $40 on Agoda. There is a timer on the booking page that clearly says my rate is being held so long as I complete the booking within five minutes. I did. A few knifes later I get an email stating that my booking was canceled due to “an unforeseen technical error.” I went back to book the room again. Now the rate is $49. I had just barely enough to pay for the room at the $40 rate...a rate that was being held if I completed the order on time - which I did! I called customer service and (after about 15 minutes of arguing and begging) they finally agreed to compensate the difference in “agoda cash” which I could apply to the booking. Fine. So I went to make a new reservation, except on the check out page there was no option to apply the agoda cash. Turns out the property is a “pay at hotel” property, which evidently means I can’t apply agoda cash to it. So the $9 of agoda cash that they begrudgingly gave me when they screwed up does me NO GOOD anyway and doesn’t actually compensate me in any way. I still don’t have any way to pay the higher rate and I have no way to relocate to some other property. What a load of garbage! The site clearly guaranteed that rate if I completed the booking in time! And I did! I held up my end of the bargain, you should too! Never using agoda again and will be reporting this story through every agency I can think of and sharing it through every social forum I know. Bunch of garbage.

Could not be worse experience

We ordered the Legoland hotel and got the confirmation email before we made the vocation planning. But when we arrived at the hotel after hours of driving from north California, we were told by the hotel that they were overbooked and they couldn’t contact us because they didn’t have our contact information, they suggested us to contact where we placed the order. So we tried to call Agoda, we told the customer service the problem and each time the call was received by a different customer service, they said they were trying to contact vendor and promised to call us back in 30 minutes but never did that. After calling them 4 times and they promised the manager would call me later but never did. Our child was really disappointed and fell asleep since it’s midnight, we had to find another hotel… I am wondering why they sent the confirmation email but couldn’t guarantee it? Why customer service passed the problem from one to another then another? Why they didn’t give a reply at the time they promised? Why customer should pay for agora’s mistake? The reputation of agoda is ruined, people can’t believe what agoda has promised. You can’t expect them to do what they have confirmed and can’t believe the customer service can help to fix their issues…

My trip to Iraq was canceled, so why can’t I get my $7,590 back?

Q. I paid $7,590 for a Modern Mesopotamia tour to Iraq through MIR Corporation for last fall. I also purchased insurance from AIG Travel Guard at a cost of $766, which offered 100 percent coverage for trip interruptions or cancellations. Just 14 days before the trip was supposed to start, I received a letter from MIR Corporation that they were canceling the trip because the United States government raised the security risks. They offered a voucher, which was only good for a trip to Iraq in the next two years — if there was any travel allowed to Iraq. I believe it is a worthless voucher.

I filed a claim with AIG Travel Guard, but it denied my claim. I also disputed the charge on my credit card, but my credit card company sided with MIR Corporation. I’m very frustrated by this and hope that you might be able to help me recover this money.

A. It doesn’t seem fair for a tour operator to cancel a trip and not offer a refund. But the terms of your tour say otherwise. They allow MIR Corporation to keep your money and issue a voucher for a future tour, which is exactly what they did.

Let’s break this one down. MIR Corporation specializes in tours of “under-explored destinations” (those are its words) like Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan. The paper trail between you and the company shows that it warned you of the risks of traveling to Iraq and urged you to buy travel insurance. It also clearly disclosed its terms, which were that it offers an expiring voucher when it cancels a tour.

A representative explained the reason why MIR Corporation has this policy. The tour operator had already paid its vendors and could not get a refund. But the arrangements between a tour operator and its vendors are none of your concern. The only thing that matters is the agreement you have with the tour operator.

MIR Corporation did the right thing by recommending travel insurance. But the policy you bought through AIG Travel Guard, which MIR Corporation helped facilitate, did not cover a cancellation by the tour operator. You could have bought a “cancel for any reason” policy, although it was considerably more expensive. This would have given you a refund between 50 percent and 75 percent of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs.

MIR Corporation also did the right thing by canceling. The US Department of State had issued a warning against travel to Iraq. You wouldn’t want to be there during an armed conflict.

Your case is a reminder to always read the contract when you sign up for a tour, or any other travel product for that matter. It’s also a reminder to read the fine print in your travel insurance. Your policy did not offer “100 percent coverage” for a cancellation, as you stated. Rather, it was a policy with a named exclusion that did not include a cancellation for security concerns.

But there were special circumstances. MIR Corporation’s voucher had to be used within two years and was only valid for its Iraq tours. At the time you contacted me, it didn’t look like there would be tours to Iraq for a while, so there was a good chance that your voucher would expire before you could use it. Also, you are 78 years old, and you suggested that you might not feel up to a tour of Iraq within the next two years.

You reached out to my advocacy team for help, and I contacted MIR Corporation on your behalf. The company agreed to offer a credit to any of its destinations for two years, and you accepted its offer.

The hotel is situated on the main Moscow street within just two stops by metro to the Kremlin, but be careful: if they give you a room facing the interior court, in the daytime you will have terrible noise from the construction site which is just opposite

The location is great.it is in 55.th floor of one of Moscow city towers.the city view is great if ypu are lucky to have the correct room.because some rooms have no view at all.

The location was perfect : walking distance from all the most famous places to visit( Kremlin , GUM, Bolchoi...)Staff were very efficient and nice and spoke very good english which was something amazing in Moscow:) Very clean ,spacious and comfortable room. I did not enjoy my stay at Hostel 13! The carpets were stained, the room was very small, the walls were paper thin and I could hear people coughing, snoring, talking etc. The breakfast was pathetic! A packaged croissant if I was lucky (they weren't always put out), an orange and a cup of coffee consumed in my room. When I went out in the morning there were people slumped over the furniture in the reception. The only plus was hot water in the shower. The staff spoke little English but did make attempts to help me with my queries so full marks to them. This may be an acceptable venue for young backpackers but not so for 68 year old solo travellers. Not recommended.

Very nice staff. The hotel is not recomended for children with småll children, the hotel has only got rooms with one doublebed. No interconnected rooms. No space for an ekstra bed, if you have a small child he/she can easily be in the bed together with parents.

Considering prices for hotels in Moscow, the Melody Hotel is an excellent aleternative for budget-minded travelers. While this property is not as well located as hotels that cost three times as much, the Melody Hotel is just four to five blocks from both Arbat Streets. If you enjoy walking, you can reach practically all major attractions in the center of Moscow in no more than thirty minutes. In any case, various subway stations are within ten to fifteen minutes` walk. The hotel offers a complete breakfast that you are sure to enjoy, but you might become eager for a bit more variety after three or four days. The hotel is in a very quiet residential area. Standard rooms are neither overly spacious nor excessively small. All in all, we were very satisfied and would recommend this property strongly. Staff are fluent in English, and smoking rooms are available on request.
