The 12 best places to visit in Nanyuki

The best places to visit in Nanyuki have spread further afield than the shepherd’s huts and old stone buildings of the town itself. While Nanyuki has some excellent restaurants and places to stay, it is more than a sum of its parts. Nanyuki is Mount Kenya and its alpine forest, it is a safari in the green fields of Ol Pejeta or the ancient landscape of the Loldaiga Hills. It is zip lining through the Ndare Ngare forest or crashing through waterfalls on the Sagana River.

I know Nanyuki as a gateway to Mount Kenya and the wilderness of Mount Kenya National Park. It sits on the equator, 3 hours north of Nairobi. Its elevation of 2000 metres means it is colder and wetter than the rest of Kenya. Nanyuki is the largest town in the area, settled by British immigrants and still favoured by their descendants. Business in the area comes from ranches, farms, and game parks, or the supply of goods to them. Tourism is huge as there is a lot to see and do in Nanyuki.

The 12 best places to visit in Nanyuki

Ol pejeta .

Ol Pejeta is one of my favourite safari destinations in Kenya and one of the best places to visit in Nanyuki. One of the most famous safari parks in Kenya, it is globally recognised for housing the last two remaining Northern White Rhinos in the world. Ol Pejeta handles the innovative breeding program which may see the re-emergence of the now nearly extinct species. The remaining rhinos are both females, but sperm from the recently departed male rhino has been used to create embryos. We keep our fingers crossed that we can use science to repair the mistakes we have to make in hunting these animals and bring the species back from the brink of extinction.

Ol Pejeta is also home to the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya. The sanctuary rescues chimps, often from abusive captivity, from all over East Africa. The park, which is home to all the big 5, is a vast, green, river daubed spectacle that is even more beautiful at the moment when Mount Kenya emerges from its cloudy cover. Read my blog on Ol Pejeta and my experience of wild camping in the park here.

Mount Kenya

At Mount Kenya, just over 5000 feet of jagged glacial peaks rise above the equator. Mount Kenya is the second-highest mountain in Africa and the first highest in Kenya. The peak was covered for many years by an ice cap which brought the mountain to 7000 feet high. The ice cap melted and there are now 11 glaciers making their way down the slopes of Mount Kenya. Global warming means the glaciers are expected to have melted by 2050. Below the three peaks of Mount Kenya are the Afro-Alpine Moorlands, giant heath, large stands of bamboo, and diverse canopy forests that make up a National Park and National Reserve, some 2,100 km2 of protected area.

The forest on Mount Kenya is reminiscent of Switzerland with bounteous lakes, rivers, cliffs, and paths for activity on the mountain. Visitors to Mount Kenya can hike to the three peaks. Pt Lenana is possible for unskilled and non-climbers, but the other two main peaks, Batian and Nelion, are for experienced rock climbers only. Hiking is popular, as there are paths all over the mountain, as is mountain biking, fishing, and game spotting.

Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy

The Mount Kenya Wildlife conservancy sits at the foot of Mount Kenya. The conservancy was set up to preserve some of the pristine wilderness and wildlife that exist in the area, including the nearly extinct mountain bongo, a type of antelope. Wildlife species in the conservancy include elephant, leopard, buffalo, giant forest hog, and many more. The conservancy rescues and rehabilitates wild animals who have been orphaned or abandoned including a breeding programme for the bongo and the rare white zebra.

Visitors to Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy can visit the  animal orphanage  where you can meet and educate yourself on the animals within the area. The orphanage may be the only chance you ever have to see a mountain bongo, they also have cheetah, leopard, pygmy hippo, and other local animals.

Nanyuki, Laikipia

Ngare Ndare Forest

Ngare Ndare Forest  is an indigenous forest at the foothills of Mt. Kenya which serves as an elephant corrido r linking Laikipia and Samburu. The forest is now fenced off from farmland after generations of human/elephant clashes. The elephants still patrol their pathways and the forest is an emerald green vista of 200-year-old trees and crashing waterfalls. Ngare Ndare is notable for the swimming pools and series of crystalline waterfalls that run alongside the banks of the river.

Visitors to Ngare Ndare will be eager to experience the canopy walkway – a 40 ft. high aerial bridge that runs nearly half a kilometre through the tree canopy and extending for 450 meters. The walkway ends at a 30-foot high wooden platform, where you can enjoy a view of the river from this elevated vantage point, it is one of my favourite things to do in Nanyuki.

As with many of the places to visit in Nanyuki, visiting Ngare Ndare offers you a real insight into the importance of conservation of habitat and wildlife in the area. So much is precious and on the brink of being lost.

Trout fishing and Trout Tree Restaurant

The very best places for trout fishing are high up in the alpine lakes and rivers of Mount Kenya. Read about a  Mount Kenya fishing trip  here. For easier access to trout fishing, you can visit the Trout Tree Restaurant for fishing and the freshest trout meals in the area. You can read the full blog on the  Trout Tree Restaurant  here. It’s a beautiful place, crouched in the arms of a sacred fig tree surrounding by brown rivers, circular trout pools, and lush forest. Rent a rod at the restaurant and spend the afternoon contemplating nature and catching your own supper.

Mount Kenya Climbing Gym

If you want to get in training for climbing Mount Kenya then there is no better place to start than the  Mount Kenya Climbing Gym . A climbing wall with a sweet little café, its located centrally to town between One Stop and Nanyuki. There are different routes to suit both beginners and experienced climbers. The club can organize trips out to Turamen where there are a series of walls and pinnacles suitable for climbers of all levels.

Nanyuki Equator Sign

The Nanyuki equator market is little more than a battered sign next to the road, but it is fun to jump out of the car and take a picture at the very centre of the world. There is usually a guy there with bucket system that shows you the Coriolis effect. Essentially, how water flows in a different direction in the northern and southern hemisphere.

Nanyuki equator sign

Loldaiga Hills

Lolldaiga Hills Ranch is a 49,000-acre livestock ranch and wildlife conservancy with outstanding views of Mount Kenya and the Aberdares. Aside from the stunning views and full complement of wildlife, the Lolldaiga range is a series of folding hills that house a series of archaeological finds. Visitors to Lolldaiga will find cave paintings and burial mounds dating back to early mankind.

Lolldaiga Hills

Nanyuki Weavers

Nanyuki Weavers is a special stopover in Nanyuki allowing you to observe traditional weaving methods and buy gorgeous rugs and shawls. Nanyuki Weavers employs over 110 women who will guide you through the workshop showing you each stage of the weaving process. Watch the women cleaning and dyeing the wool and spinning it on traditional looms. My kids loved it.

Mau Mau Caves, Nanyuki

You need a guide to reach the Mau Mau caves, which are accessible via an 8km walk from Bantu lodge. Mau Mau warriors would hide in these caves which are sheltered behind a waterfall, during the Mau Mau wars. The caves are an interesting geographical exploration at the end of a picturesque walk, but it’s extraordinary to note that people lived here as recently as 60 years ago and staged a rebellion from places like this.

Mau Mau caves

White water rafting at the Sagana river

One of the best placest to visit is the Sagana river. White water rafting along the river is a super high adrenaline thrill for the entire family. While kayaking along large stretches of the river is only for adults, kids can bob about the waters in small boats and even join their parents in trying to sail under a waterfall. Several outfits provide white water/ kayaking/ ziplining facilities and accommodation. My favourite is  Savage Wilderness  and  Rapids Camp . Both places are located quite far out of Nanyuki – around 40 minutes – but it is definitely worth the journey. You can camp there or overnight in bandas.

Sagana river nanyuki

Visit Chaka Ranch

Chaka Ranch located close to Kiganjo is a full activity leisure park where you can zoom around on quad bikes or go-karts, roller skate through obstacle courses, cool down on the water park, or suffer the agony and indignity of paint balling. They focused the park on kids, so they have adult and kiddie quad bikes, a café to feed the tired masses, and you can even stay over in a decent-looking tented camp or permanent bandas. Arguably, one of the best places to visit in Nanyuki to entertain kids.

Chaka Ranch Nanyuki

Things to do in Nanyuki – where to stay and eat

For the best places to stay in Nanyuki, check out my complete guide to Nanyuki accommodation .

My favourite restaurants in Nanyuki are the aforementioned Trout Tree restaurant and  La Rustique a fine dining, Moroccan cuisine. There is also a cool little shop/café up towards Timau, which is always worth a stopover. I can’t for the life of me remember the name, but it’s right by the road. Morani’s is decent food but it’s located within Ol Pejeta Conservancy, so you can only access it by paying the conservancy fee. A nice chance to visit the old blind rhino who resides next door.

For drinks then  Jack’s Bar  at the Soames hotel is favoured by locals for a sundowner and the restaurant there is lovely too.

For easy eats, there is ever-reliable Java at the Cedar Mall and Barneys, a restaurant at the airstrip which is usually very busy and popular.

You can lunch at Kongoni camp, but I’m afraid we didn’t enjoy it very much… do let me know if it improves.

How to get to Nanyuki

Nanyuki is approximately 3 – 4 hours north of Nairobi, depending on traffic. The drive, once you get past the conjested roads around Thika are smooth going. Driving through banana and pineapple plantations, and if the day is clear heading for the snowy peaks of Mount Kenya.

Several flights a day operate to the teeny Nanyuki airport, from Wilson airport in Nairobi. Try Safarilink airlines to start.

Matatus and buses whizz up and down all day long.

10 Best Things To Do in Nanyuki, Kenya

Best Things To Do in Nanyuki

Nanyuki is a wonderful town that lies on the equator. It’s located on the edge of central highlands and opens to the Laikipia Plateau and the wonders of northern Kenya.

In this guide, you’ll discover the best things to do and places to visit in Nanyuki, Kenya. It contains detailed information and insider tips to help you plan your trip to this mysterious town.

As someone who has lived in Nanyuki town for almost a year, I know it’s much more than just a pit stop while heading north from Nairobi . It’s home to different cultures, conservancies, a base for Mount Kenya climbers, an airfield for the Kenya Air Force, and a base for the British Army.

So, whether you’re seeking wildlife attractions, adventure, historical experiences, or entertainment, this town in Kenya has something for you.

  • Best Places to Visit in Nanyuki (+Things To Do)

Nanyuki is a great town and is one of the best places to visit in Kenya. It’s the gateway to unexplored northern Kenya, Mount Kenya National Park, and wildlife conservancies in the Laikipia Plateau.

If you’re looking for fun places and the best things to do in Nanyuki, walk with me. I’ll share the fun places and attractions I’ve discovered since moving here a year ago.

  • 1. Stop at the Equator Marker

Although I cross the line almost every day, I always admire the sight of the Equator Marker . The spot is located along road A2 when approaching Nanyuki town from the south. It’s very popular with travelers as one of the top Nanyuki tourist attractions.

Besides shopping at the equator market , the most interesting thing is watching locals demonstrate the Coriolis force .

I don’t know if the experiment works, but watching the simple setup and listening to their explanations is a wonderful experience.

  • 2. Experience the Nanyuki Nightlife

Although there are many things to do in Nanyuki, a myth surrounding a lost railway route map has made the town more popular as an entertainment hotspot.

The tale tells of how railway engineers got carried away by the fun and merry in Nanyuki. They lost the route map which marked the end of the Nairobi-Nanyuki railway and was supposed to extend to northern Kenya.

If you’re interested in a taste of Nanyuki’s nightlife, go to the Downtown Club or Moran Lounge . After all, no trip to this town is complete without partying.

  • 3. Explore Nanyuki Town on Foot

Nanyuki town is inhabited by people from different cultures , including local communities, ex-pats, descendants of early British settlers, and military personnel.

Walking along the streets of this small town offers you an opportunity to experience this diverse characteristic and learn about its history.

Some of the best sites and places to visit are local markets , old buildings, and community centers like the Nanyuki Spinners and Weavers .

The latter is a project started in 1977 to assist disadvantaged local women to become self-reliant. It offers spinning, knitting, and weaving training using wool and cotton. The women produce beautiful products like scarves, carpets, shawls, and bags.

Make sure you stop by to see how this old trade is still in use. You can also learn to make your own scarf and finish your wandering with a nice cup of coffee at Java House in Cedar Mall.

  • 4. Go Shopping at the Equator Market

The equator market is one of the best places to go gift shopping in Nanyuki. This small curios market is located on the main road next to the Equator Marker and sells beautiful souvenirs and cultural items.

You can walk into any of the stalls and haggle your way for fabrics, keepsakes, African paintings, and safari hats. You can also get a wristband or a t-shirt to show off when you get home, confirming that you crossed the equator at Nanyuki.

While still there, ask your guide or locals to show you where the famous Silverbeck Hotel was located. The hotel was designed and built in such a way that the equator ran right through the bar. Visitors could enjoy their drinks while switching between the northern and southern hemispheres.

The Silverbeck Hotel is no longer there. So, if you’re looking for a hotel close to the equator line, try out Th e Warwick H otel .

  • 5. Explore the Mau Mau Caves

The Mau Mau Caves are located near Nanyuki town at the foot of Mount Kenya. These epic caves used to be a hideout for the Mau Mau freedom fighters during the Kenya emergency period from 1952 to 1960.

The caves offer a great opportunity to explore nature and are located inside an indigenous forest that opens up to a beautiful waterfall.

If you’re looking for a short trip or adventure, go chasing the Mau Mau Caves. The road to the caves also passes through multiple villages; providing another chance to experience rural Kenya.

  • 6. Day Trip to the Magical Ngare Ndare Forest

If you’re looking for cheap things to do in Nanyuki, head to the magical Ngare Ndare Forest . Located in Timau, it’s one of the best places to hike in Kenya.

I’ve visited Ngare Ndare several times and can’t get enough of this natural jewel. The lush indigenous forest consists of a canopy walk, a hiking trail, and natural blue pools where you can swim, birdwatch, and view the wonderful wildlife.

Since the forest is located in a remote place, a solo trip can be confusing and costly. I’d therefore recommend joining this affordable experience with a local guide.

You can also stay at the rustic Seiku Glamping on Airbnb, which arranges trips to the Ngare Ndare at discounted rates.

  • 7. Eat Fish at the Trout Tree Restaurant

On the way to Nanyuki, it’s worth stopping by the Trout Tree Restaurant . Although located a few kilometers south, it qualifies as one of the best restaurants in Nanyuki.

The restaurant is built around a huge sacred fig tree on the banks of the Burguret river. It’s famous among travelers for its delicious fresh trout and natural setting. Besides the vegetarian dishes, they also serve beef, pizzas (on weekends only), and cocktails.

Trout Tree Restaurant prides itself as a farm-to-table restaurant. And it’s just that. Their trout is taken straight from the pond and vegetables are sourced directly from the garden.

The trout takes time to prepare. So while waiting for your delicious meal, you can relax, watch birds and Colobus monkeys, or chat with your friends over a beer.

For about $10 you can have trout served with Ugali (similar to porridge but much more dense), and green vegetables – my favorite.

best places to visit in nanyuki kenya

  • 8. Visit the Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Located in the Laikipia Plateau between the Aberdares and Mount Kenya, Ol Pejeta Conservancy is one of the best places to visit in Kenya. The 360 km² private game reserve is devoted to protecting wild animals, and is home to the endangered white rhinos.

This hidden gem is one of my favorite attractions in Nanyuki. It’s less crowded, and you can view more rhinos here than anywhere else in Kenya.

Besides nature walks and game drives, visitors can enjoy horse riding or visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Check out this tour of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy .

  • 9. Climb Mount Kenya

Climbing Mount Kenya has to be one of the best activities in Nanyuki. The mountain is accessible from Nanyuki via Burguret or Sirimon gates. Travelers prefer the latter, as it’s considered the easiest and most scenic route.

The best way to reach Point Lenana (a popular summit with visitors) is to join a 4 Days Mount Kenya climbing tour . The expedition departs from Nanyuki and takes you through a magnificent montane forest, rivers, and alpine vegetation.

For starters, Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya, and Africa’s second highest after Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The mountain has three main peaks: Batian (5,199 m), Nelion (5,188 m), and Lenana (4,985 m).

Of the three peaks, point Lenana is the most popular. However, if you’re a more advanced and experienced climber, you may prefer attempting the more technical peak Batian.

  • 10. Stay in a Rustic Hut with a View of Mount Kenya

Oak Hut at One Stop Nanyuki is one of the best places to stay in Nanyuki. It’s also a perfect base for exploring Nanyuki and nearby destinations. A night at this cozy spot allows you to connect to nature and really relax.

You can visit the Mau Mau Caves, climb Mount Kenya, see the Equator Marker or take a scenic helicopter flight to Mount Kenya.

They have four huts: Oak , Bramble , Holly , and Ivy , and a house named The 100-Year-Old House . Each facility is fully equipped, unique, and has superb views of Mount Kenya.

Besides accommodation in Nanyuki, One Stop has other facilities, including a coffee bar, a farm shop, and a swimming pool.

One Stop Nanyuki is located along road A2 right opposite the Nanyuki Airstrip and Barneys’s Restaurant .

Other Places To Visit in Nanyuki

If you venture a little farther outside of the city you’ll find even more fun places to visit, which include the following:

  • Chaka Ranch

Located close to Chaka town, Chaka Ranch leisure park is ideal for family fun activities such as cycling, karting, quad bike riding, and paintballing. They also serve delicious local foods and drinks.

Where to Stay in Nanyuki

Nanyuki is a leading holiday destination in Kenya; home to many camping sites, lodges, cottages, and villas.

There are several hotels in Nanyuki town , but the best places to stay are outside of town. These places are quiet, close to nature and offer great views of beautiful landscapes.

If you’re looking for places to stay in Nanyuki that are unique and affordable, below are a few ideas.

  • Oak-Shepherd’s Hut

Located right across the road from the Nanyuki Airstrip, this is one of the best Airbnbs in Nanyuki . The huts (they have four in total) are comfortable, rustic, and cozy. They can accommodate 3 guests each and start at $100.

If you’re looking for a base to explore Nanyuki tourist attractions, stay at the Barn . At $93 a night, the entire home can accommodate 5 guests, making it ideal for groups or families.

What I love about The Barn is the atmosphere. You don’t need to climb Mount Kenya or chase Mau Mau Caves to experience natural beauty. You can relax with a book, listen to the birds sing, or sip coffee while viewing Mount Kenya.

  • Maiyan Resort and Villas

Maiyan is the best resort in Nanyuki. It’s located about 5 kilometers from town and comprises private villas suitable for both families and groups.

Besides accommodation, they have beautiful grounds for team-building events and social events. Horse riding is also popular at Maiyan.

best places to visit in nanyuki kenya

  • Sieku Glamping

If you like experiencing true glamping close to nature, stay at Sieku Glamping. You can stay late watching shooting stars and wake up to views of Mount Kenya and Borana Conservancy .

Sieku Glamping is suitable for couples and solo travelers who love locations off-the-beaten-track.

Visitors at the luxury glamping site can sleep in bell tents or tipis. The site is also self-catering, but there is the option to request a hired chef.

  • Caritas Villa & Cottages

Most villas, campsites, and cottages in Nanyuki don’t come cheap. However, staying at Caritas will save you money on accommodation that you can then spend on activities. If you’re planning to climb Mount Kenya and explore nearby attractions, make this charming and affordable villa your base.

Best Restaurants in Nanyuki

Don’t miss these great places to eat in Nanyuki.

  • Barneys Bar & Restaurant

Barneys combines a rich history with good service and delicious food at moderate prices. The restaurant is family-friendly, and serves different dishes from beef burgers to lamb shawarma.

I love Barney’s because of its accessible location ( at the Nanyuki Airstrip ), relaxed atmosphere, and great coffee. Their snacks are also always fresh and well baked.

Visit Barneys for the best food and drinks and the sight of small planes taking off from the runway. The restaurant is open daily between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.

  • Java House, Cedar Mall

With various menus, good service, and friendly staff, Java House is one of the best restaurants in Nanyuki – it’s my favorite. This relatively affordable eatery is located in Cedar Mall along Rumuruti road.

Although Java is popular with coffee, the restaurant also serves good food and fresh juices. You can expect to spend around $10 on a beef burger, $3 on coffee, and $4 on desserts.

I particularly love their “Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato” sandwich and classic lemonade. The outdoor seating space also offers a good view of events along the Nanyuki-Rumururi road.

  • The Nook Cafe and Bar

Unlike other places, The Nook is not your average restaurant. What I love about this place is their sporadic nature. Every week they have a completely new menu inspired by cuisines from all over the world.

Besides the restaurant, the Nook has a bar where travelers can connect over a cold beer. The cafe is open every day from Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays). Dishes start at $12, and drinks at $3.

The Nook is located about 90 m from the main road, along Haile Selassie Road.

  • Kongoni Camp Restaurant

Besides offering cozy and affordable accommodation, Kongoni Camp is a haven for fine dining. Their restaurant’s menu has various dishes, including the usual suspects – steak, fish with Ugali, burgers, and pizza.

The restaurant and coffee shop are open between 7:00 am and 10:30 pm. What’s great is that you don’t have to spend a night there to enjoy their delicious meals and drinks.

Nanyuki serves as a gateway to the Laikipia plateau, one of Africa's most important wildlife conservation areas. Despite being a market town, it is probably the most cosmopolitan city in the area outside of Nairobi, with its share of international tourists (here to climb Mt Kenya or to visit the myriad safari parks), British Army soldiers (there is a training facility nearby) and Kenyan Air Force pilots (this is the site of the country's main air-force base).

Hidden Gems in Kenya: 5 Places to Visit in Nanyuki

  • by Maureen Njeri on Wednesday, 23 November 2022 - 6:26 pm

Kenya has often been ranked highly globally for its unique features that attract tourists from across the globe.

Tourism is a multi-billion industry that boosts the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and has created numerous job opportunities for Kenyans.

Besides the sandy beaches along the coast, snowy Mt Kenya, the beautiful game drives, and the mesmerising wildebeest migrations , some counties have exceptional features.

Looking at Nanyuki in Laikipia County, five tourist attractions stand out. Some of these sites call for a keen eye, a curious spirit, and a love for adventure.

Lolldaiga Hills Ranch

Looking to get your fitness steps in? Lolldaiga hills is the place for you. The hills are decorated with cave paintings overlooking Mount Kenya and the Aberdares.

Some of these paintings capture early mankind. It is also home to ancient burial mounds.

The ancient land sits on 49,000 acres of land and comprises several intriguing hill folds, cedar forests, open grassland, and wooded valleys.

Ngare Ndare Forest

Magical, heavenly, and breathtaking are some of the words used to describe this lush indigenous forest at the foot of Mt. Kenya.

From the wildlife to the cooling clear waterfall, Ngare Ndare is a beautiful place to unwind and enjoy nature.

Exotic birds have found a home in this forest, so carry your binoculars when visiting the area. For adrenaline junkies, the swinging bridge (canopy walkway) is a good way to test your limits.

Some of the trees in the forest are over 200 years old.

Mau Mau Caves

We all know about Mashujaa Day, marked on October 20, to celebrate the heroes that have laid the foundation to build Kenya.

However, the Mau Mau caves provide you with a first-hand experience of the colonial hideout areas for the Mau Mau freedom fighters.

The caves give you a feel of nature and life during the Kenya emergency period from 1952 and 1960.

Be prepared for a walk inside the forest, and remember to pack suitable shoes. You can also set up a picnic and enjoy time with your children .

Trout fishing and Trout Tree Restaurant

For fish lovers, this place allows you to fish in the nearby lakes and rivers of Mount Kenya and enjoy a fresh meal.

The icing on the cake in this hidden gem is the location. It is balanced on the arms of a sacred fig tree surrounded by brown rivers, circular trout pools, and the rush forest.

Away from the loud matatus and boda bodas in the city, at the trout fishing and trout tree restaurant, you will enjoy the sounds of birds, the rustling tree leaves, and the rushing waters.

Ol Pejeta animal conservancy

The Ol Pejeta animal conservancy has to be my best site so far. It is the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, rescuing chimps from abusive captivities across East Africa.

If you subscribe to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, this is the place for you. Get to know about the implied first stages of mankind.

Ol Pejeta is located between the Aberdares and Mount Kenya in the Laikipia Plateau. It is also home to the endangered white rhinos.

Aside from the five, Nanyuki is also famous for the Equator Marker. If you do not have a photo next to the equator sign, hop on that matatu and enjoy the drive to Nanyuki.

Conclusively, Kenya is a beautiful country, brush through every corner and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

It’s entertaining to get out of the car and take a photo at the exact center of the world, even though the Nanyuki equator market is little more than a dilapidated sign next to the road. Basically, the distinction between the directions in which water flows in the northern and southern hemispheres. Additionally, there are parking spaces and gift shops.

The first-highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest mountain in all of Africa is Mount Kenya. Burguret or Sirimon gates at Nanyuki provide access to the mountain. The latter is preferred by travelers since it is thought to be the simplest and prettiest path. The three main peaks of the mountain are Batian, Nelion, and Lenana. Of the three peaks, Point Lenana is the most popular. However, if you’re a more advanced and experienced climber, you may prefer attempting the more technical peak, Batian.

6. Visiting the Chaka Ranch Leisure Park

The Chaka Ranch Leisure Park, which is in Kiganjo, is well-known for its all-inclusive family entertainment options. From the largest selections of quad bikes and go-karts to skating, paintball, team-building activities, and kid-friendly games. In addition to providing accommodations in their hotel, they also provide luxurious tented camping, which is far superior to staying in regular hotel rooms.

whitewater rafting down the Sagana river is an adrenaline rush activity. While adults can only kayak along long stretches of the river, children can paddle around in smaller boats and even try to sail beneath a waterfall with their parents. Many organizations offer lodging options and whitewater, kayaking, and ziplining facilities.

9. Eat at the Trout Tree Restaurant

As a farm-to-table establishment, Trout Tree Restaurant takes great pride in this. Travelers love it for its delectable fresh trout and scenic surroundings.
