Well, that escalated quickly.

What started as a five-show, one-weekend tour with Pete Davidson and Jon Stewart in early September, has since become a full-fledged tour for John Mulaney .

The five-time “Saturday Night Live” host just announced an additional 18 shows to his 2023 calendar he’s calling ‘John Mulaney: In Concert.’

In total, Mulaney now has 31 gigs all over North America this year including a trio with Jon Stewart and 11 with Pete Davidson .

And for those keeping score at home, he now has four shows in New York State.

First up, he’s slated to co-headline with Jon Stewart at Westbury’s NYCB Theatre on Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14 .

After that, he’ll hit Kingston’s Ulster Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Nov. 2 and Troy’s Troy Music Hall on Sunday, Nov. 4.

Fresh off the announcement of Big Mouth’s forthcoming seventh season — which is set to star Megan Thee Stallion — comedian, voice actor, and writer John Mulaney has revealed a slew of new 2023 tour dates.

Fans can begin purchasing tickets for Mulaney’s new shows on Wednesday, Sept. 27 through an artist presale, with additional presales running throughout the week ahead of the general onsale — which will begin on Friday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. local time on the official Ticketmaster website.

Baby J , Mulaney’s latest standup special ,  debuted in April and earned him a pair of Emmy nominations: outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) and outstanding writing for a variety special.   He has won two Emmys for his work on Saturday Night Live and John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City . In 2018, Kid Gorgeous at Radio City peaked at No. 2 on Comedy Albums , becoming Mulaney’s third of four consecutive top five entries on the chart. The set also became his first to enter Top Album Sales (No. 96).

Jon Stewart will join Mulaney on one date of the John & Pete tour in October and November.

Clear your calendars, comedy fans: John Mulaney and Pete Davidson just announced nine new tour dates across the United States and Canada—with comedian and talk show host Jon Stewart filling in for Davidson for one special engagement. The dates are in addition to Mulaney's  John Mulaney in Concert  tour, which is running concurrently.

The  John & Pete  tour will make stops in the Midwest, Long Island, New England, and Canada, kicking off on October 5.

Mulaney, Davidson, and Stewart hit the road in early September, performing a string of shows in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Atlantic City before announcing the additional  John & Pete  (and Jon) dates. "Two Jo(h)ns and One Pete," Mulaney wrote in a September 13 Instagram post, sharing photos of the three behind the scenes and onstage. "The best."

About John Mulaney

John Mulaney is a two-time Emmy and WGA award-winning writer, actor, and comedian. 

In 2018, he traveled the United States with sold out Kid Gorgeous tour, which was later released as a Netflix stand-up special and won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Special; In 2015, he released The Comeback Kid, also a Netflix original, which The AV Club called the “best hour of his career;” In 2012, his Comedy Central special New In Town had Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly hailing him as “one of the best stand-up comics alive.” Starting March 2022, he’ll be touring with his newest hour John Mulaney: From Scratch.

Solidifying himself as a fan favorite, John Mulaney has been invited to host Saturday Night Live five times. He began writing for SNL in 2008 and created memorable characters such as ‘Stefon’ with Bill Hader and appeared as a “Weekend Update” correspondent. He has written for IFC’s Documentary Now! and Netflix’s Big Mouth, on which he voices the character of Andrew. John will star in the new reboot of Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers on Disney Plus this Spring opposite Andy Samberg. 

He’s also starred on Broadway in the runaway hit written and performed alongside Nick Kroll in Oh, Hello On Broadway.  The duo have since release a Netflix special of the same name, as well as Oh, Hello: The P’dcast, based off their characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland. 

In December 2019, the critically acclaimed and Emmy nominated musical variety special  John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch debuted on Netflix. It was recently announced that festivities will continue with a pair of holiday themed Sack Lunch Bunch specials coming to Comedy Central in the near future.

About John Mulaney

John Mulaney is a two-time Emmy and WGA award-winning writer, actor, and comedian.

In 2018, he traveled the United States with sold out Kid Gorgeous tour, which was later released as a Netflix stand-up special and won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Special; In 2015, he released The Comeback Kid , also a Netflix original, which The AV Club called the “best hour of his career;” In 2012, his Comedy Central special New In Town had Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly hailing him as “one of the best stand-up comics alive.”

Solidifying himself as a fan favorite, John Mulaney has been invited to host Saturday Night Live four times. He began writing for SNL in 2008 and created memorable characters such as ‘Stefon’ with Bill Hader and appeared as a “Weekend Update” correspondent. He has written for IFC’s Documentary Now! and Netflix’s Big Mouth , on which he voices the character of Andrew.

He’s also starred on Broadway in the runaway hit written and performed alongside Nick Kroll in Oh, Hello On Broadway .  The duo have since released a Netflix special of the same name, as well as Oh, Hello: The P’dcast , based off their characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland.

In December 2019, the critically acclaimed and Emmy nominated musical variety special John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch debuted on Netflix. It was recently announced that festivities will continue with a pair of holiday themed Sack Lunch Bunch specials coming to Comedy Central in the near future.

John Mulaney

JOHN MULANEY is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer. He is best known for his work as a writer on Saturday Night Live and as a stand-up comedian with stand-up specials The Top Part, New in Town, The Comeback Kid, and Kid Gorgeous, for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special in 2018. He was the creator and star of the short-lived Fox sitcom Mulaney, a semi-autobiographical series about his life. Mulaney also performed as a character called George St. Geegland in a comedic duo with Nick Kroll, most recently in Oh, Hello on Broadway from September 2016 through early 2017. He is also known for his voice acting work as Andrew Glouberman in the Netflix original animated show Big Mouth. Mulaney made his film debut in 2018, voicing Peter Porker/Spider-Ham in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

John Mulaney Announces New Comedy Tour' From Scratch' One Year After Relapse

Mulaney will make stops at 33 cities around the country

John Mulaney is hitting the road.

On Monday, Mulaney announced a country-wide comedy tour beginning in March 2022 — his first tour since leaving rehab in February following a sobriety relapse.

The tour, titled "From Scratch," will hit 33 cities around the country, beginning in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

While this marks Mulaney's first official tour, the comedian has performed several times over the past year. In May, he returned to the stand-up stage with a string of sold-out, well-received shows at New York's City Winery. During the set, Mulaney, 39, addressed his time in rehab and recent life changes.

Along with getting sober, Mulaney's split from ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler was announced earlier this year. The comedian has since begun dating actress Olivia Munn , 41, and the two are expecting their first child together .

During a recent interview, Munn said Mulaney has incorporated their baby news into his standup routine. Per the Los Angeles Times, he joked in one performance about getting "mixed reviews" when he tells people he's having a baby.

"He's so funny, and he's so articulate, and he's so smart," Munn told the outlet of the comedian. "The first time he made that joke, I remember laughing. I'd be with him on the road, and I would hear him tell this joke, and I did feel a sense of healing with it."

"It's hard to be pregnant for the first time and have anybody say anything besides, like, 'Congratulations,'" she added.

Mulaney has also spoken out about his excited about becoming a first-time dad, saying the experience "helped save" him.

"Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself in this early journey out of recovery," he said during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers .

Tickets for the From Scratch tour will go on sale Friday December 10 at 10 a.m. local time.

John Mulaney is coming to Broadway in a new comedy this winter

A rotating cast of actors will join the comic in a limited run of Simon Rich's All In: Comedy About Love.

John Mulaney will return to Broadway for the first five weeks of All In: Comedy About Love , the production announced today. The strictly limited 10-week run is set to begin at the Hudson Theatre on December 11.

One of the country's foremost comedians, Mulaney made his Great White White debut in 2016's  Oh, Hello   on Broadway , an expansion of sketch characters he had created with Nick Kroll . This time, he will lead a rotating cast of stars in a collection of stories by his fellow Saturday Night Live writing alumnus Simon Rich, based on material that Rich created for  The New Yorker . The show will be directed by Mulaney's longtime collaborator Alex Timbers ( Moulin Rouge! ), who also oversaw  Oh, Hello.

Mulaney will appear in  All In for the first five weeks of the run only, joined by Fred Armisen, Richard Kind, Renée Elise Goldsberry (through December 30) and Chloe Fineman (January 2–12). Casting for the second half of the run has not yet been announced. This will be Rich's first show on Broadway, but he is no stranger to the Street; his father is Frank Rich, the  New York Times 's much-respected and much-feared chief theater critic in the 1980s. 

" All In: Comedy About Love by Simon Rich is a series of hilarious stories about dating, heartbreak, marriage and that sort of thing, adapted from the short stories of Simon Rich, and performed by a rotating cast of some of the funniest people on the planet," says the production's cheeky press release. "Sometimes they will play pirates, sometimes they will play dogs, and there’s one where we make them talk in British accents. But even though the show’s kind of all over the place, it’s meant to tell one simple story: that the most important part of life is who we share it with. We hope everybody will relate to it, even if it was their date’s idea to come and they are starting out from a place of quiet resentment."

All In is being produced on Broadway by Saturday Night Live  demiurge Lorne Michaels and his company Broadway Video, in conjunction with New York Studios and the artist-driven production outfit Seaview. The show will sneak into the busy Hudson Theatre in between the current run of  Once Upon a Mattress and the spring revival of  The Last Five Years , which begins previews in March.

Tickets go on sale at 10am ET  on September 26, but a special presale for fans begins one day earlier; to participate in the latter, sign up at the All In  website .

BABY J earned him 2023 Emmy nominations in Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) and an Emmy win for Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special. BABY J also received the 2024 Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Special (non-televised). Jon Stewart will join Mulaney on one date of the John & Pete tour in October and November.

Clear your calendars, comedy fans: John Mulaney and Pete Davidson just announced nine new tour dates across the United States and Canada—with comedian and talk show host Jon Stewart filling in for Davidson for one special engagement. The dates are in addition to Mulaney's  John Mulaney in Concert  tour, which is running concurrently.

The  John & Pete  tour will make stops in the Midwest, Long Island, New England, and Canada, kicking off on October 5.

Mulaney, Davidson, and Stewart hit the road in early September, performing a string of shows in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Atlantic City before announcing the additional  John & Pete  (and Jon) dates. "Two Jo(h)ns and One Pete," Mulaney wrote in a September 13 Instagram post, sharing photos of the three behind the scenes and onstage. "The best."

John Mulaney returning to Broadway in new romantic comedy

In 2016, just as he was becoming an A-list comedian, John Mulaney appeared on Broadway in “Oh, Hello,” a hit sketch comedy in which he and Nick Kroll played two aging, oddball, scruffy, cranky New Yorkers. Eight years later, Mulaney will return to Broadway in “All In: Comedy About Love,” a new play by Simon Rich (“Saturday Night Live”) consisting of romantic comedy vignettes. It will be performed with a rotating cast of four actors for 10 weeks beginning December 11 at the Hudson Theatre. During the first five weeks, Mulaney will be joined by Fred Armisen, Renée Elise Goldsberry , Chloe Fineman and Richard Kind. Alex Timbers (“Moulin Rouge!”) will direct.

‘Our Town’ selling onstage tickets at high prices

Back in 2007, I was able to attend “Spring Awakening” many times thanks to deeply discounted onstage seating. On the other hand, the new Broadway revival of Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” is selling its 30 “immersive onstage seats” for $225 (weekdays) and $249 (weekends) at the box office or $247 (weekdays) and $271 (weekends) at  telecharge.com . To quote the press release, which tries hard to sell the tickets: “It’s Our Town, YOUR seats. Step into the heart of Grover’s Corners with Stage Manager’s Seats. Experience Thornton Wilder’s timeless classic like never before, with exclusive onstage seating that surrounds the action. With just 30 seats available per performance, you’ll be immersed in the world of Our Town, becoming part of the story in an intimate and unforgettable way.”

The move isn’t shocking. Over the past decade, immersive theater has become much more trendy, making onstage seats a hot commodity, while overall production costs have risen substantially, pushing ticket prices higher than ever.

Audrey II of ‘Little Shop’ moving into Times Square

The hit Off-Broadway revival of “Little Shop of Horrors” will celebrate its fifth anniversary with an 8′ X 7′, 500-pound installation of Audrey II, the man-eating, talking and singing plant, in Times Square beginning Sept. 19. The next actors to play Audrey and Seymour in the production will be announced on the same day. Sarah Hyland and Andrew Barth Feldman will play their final performances as Audrey and Seymour on Sept. 29.

‘Age is a Feeling’ postponed due to health issue

Haley McGee’s one-woman show “Age Is a Feeling,” which was slated to begin its Off-Broadway run at the Vineyard Theatre on Sept. 11, has been postponed at the last minute due to an unforeseen health issue. “Age is a Feeling is a show about how our relationship with our mortality shapes the way we live. It seems I have been thrust into a relationship with life’s fragile nature in real time,” McGee commented in a statement. In the meantime, the Vineyard has another new show, “The Wind and the Rain: A Story About Sunny’s Bar,” a site-specific co-production with En Garde Arts that will be performed along the waterfront in Red Hook beginning Sept. 28.

“Age is a Feeling” marks the second postponement of a show by a major Off-Broadway company this fall. NSangou Njikam’s “A Freeky Introduction,” which was to be produced by the Atlantic Theater Company, was pushed back to the spring for financial reasons, according to Playbill.com.
