Barcelona is a major port in the west Mediterranean cruise itineraries both as a Home Port and a Port of Call.

This means that as a Home Port cruise ships will start and/or end a cruise in Barcelona, where embarkation and disembarkation will take place.

But many cruise ships visit the port of Barcelona for one day as any other port within a regular itinerary. Depending on the size of the cruise ship, there are two distinct docking spots in Barcelona: the Moll Adossat cruise terminal and the WTC terminal.

Home Port and Port of Call

However, there are very few cruises that dock in Barcelona as a port of call as it really is a European major embarkation port. Passengers on a cruise calling at Barcelona for a day will have the opportunity to explore this charming city either on tours booked onboard or on their own.

Barcelona is one of the easiest European cruise ports to get around - both cruise ports are minutes away from all major attractions - and there are quite a few affordable ways to enjoy the city.

Although Barcelona is a major embarkation-disembarkation port in Europe, most cruise travelers are not well advised when booking a cruise. Travelers flying from the USA or Canada, in particular, do not realize that a long red-eye flight (over 8 hours) coupled with jet lag (5 to 8 hours earlier) is the worst possible way to start a cruise.

Hence, the Editor's strong recommendation: any traveler embarking in Barcelona should fly at least one day ahead of the start of the cruise. If possible, fly two or more days ahead of the cruise , so that you can adapt to a new time zone (if flying from North America) and enjoy one of Europe's most interesting cruise ports. Naturally, if your cruise ends in Barcelona, you should plan to stay in Barcelona for at least a couple of days.

Docking in Barcelona

Barcelona's two cruise ports (WTC Port and Moll Adossat) are ideally located to explore the city. The WTC Port has 3 piers around the World Trade Center building, it is located just under 1/2 a mile (700 meters) from the Plaça Colon and the start of La Rambla, but only small cruise ships can dock here.

This port has obviously the best location as it is within walking distance to La Rambla and it is a delight for travelers on cruise lines like Seabourn, Silversea, Regent, Azamara, or the small ships of Oceania. Because no more than 3 ships can dock at the WTC Port do not have it for granted that these high-end cruise ships will always dock within walking distance to a good number of Barcelona's attractions. It happens quite frequently that small cruise ships will have to dock at the Moll Adossat.

The major port of Barcelona is, in fact, the Moll Adossat and where the overwhelming majority of cruise ships dock. Although this port is only 2 miles (3km) from Plaça Colon , walking with (or without) luggage is quite a stretch, particularly in the heat of the summer as pedestrians will have to go over a bridge.

Considering that the already mentioned T3 Port Bus provides such a good service it doesn't make any sense to walk to or from the Moll Adossat. The port has four Terminals (A, B, C, and D) all very large, modern, well kept, and efficient for both embarkation and disembarkation.

Amenities and Services

All sorts of amenities will be found at the Terminals including large sitting areas with AC, shopping, cafeterias, money exchange , and, of course, plenty of taxis available if disembarking. Because Barcelona is not used frequently as a port of call, you will not find Tourist Information Kiosks at the Terminals although you may find a desk with maps and touristic brochures.

How to get around in Barcelona

Unless your ship is docking at the World Trade Center as a port of call, it is useful to know that the Port has excellent transportation services both public and private to move around to the city or to the airport.

Taxis and Luggage Services between Port and Airport

If you have already booked your cruise and flights, there are a few insider tips to keep in mind. To start with, the cruise traveler should know that the distance between Barcelona's two cruise ports and the Airport is around 23 km (15 miles) away.

Taxi in Barcelona

Regardless of whether you are embarking or disembarking, a taxi is one of the best ways to travel from or to the Airport. A taxi between the Airport and the Port (Moll Adossat) will cost approximately €40.00 and a little bit less if the WTC Port is the final destination - Check the Official Taxi Fares in Barcelona.

There are also a number of private services that offer transfers to and from the port to either the Airport or/and Hotels that can be very convenient. One of the best services to look into is Bags & Go - this company handles your luggage (transfer and lockers) whilst you can enjoy a few hours exploring Barcelona.

If staying in Barcelona, it is very easy to calculate a taxi fare to or from a hotel and compare it with the transfers offered by all major cruise lines. The official Barcelona Taxi website has a great Route Calculator in English - check the Taxi fares calculator .

Port of Call - Taxis and Shuttle

However, if Barcelona is a Port of Call on your cruise, travelers should avoid taxis if docked at the Moll Adossat and having La Rambla as a final destination.

There is an official extra charge (€3.10) for taxis to enter-exit the port and an unscrupulous taxi driver may take you for a long ride when, in fact, La Rambla is just around the corner.

Instead of a taxi, it is advisable to use the circular route bus Cruisebus (aka T3 port-bus) between all Port Terminals and Plaça Colon close by the famous Ramblas, on the latge square by the World Trade Center.

These buses are suitable for wheelchair users. The fare is €3.00 one-way ticket and €4.00 return ticket, paid onboard in cash either in coins or bills under €10.00.

Cruise tip: because the Cruisebus (aka T3 port-bus) has become so popular thanks to its good service, most cruise lines do not offer shuttle buses to Plaça Colon anymore and the ones that do charge ridiculous amounts.

There is good news for those planning to cruise the Mediterranean on any of the Carnival Corporation Cruise Lines. In 2018, a new Cruise Terminal was built on the Moll Adossat for the fleets of Carnival Corporation. It is named Helix Cruise Center but may also be referred to as terminal E. This cruise terminal is at the end of the breakwater after Terminal D.

Its about 1 mile from city center. There are taxi's buses and shuttles which take about 5-10 minutes.

You can see the city center from the ship.

If you like to walk its about a 20-30 minute walk.

If you are taking a shuttle take the blue port one. Parked near the ship and slightly cheaper then Princess.

I agree with Vickie's numbers. I'll add that the public bus will drop you off at the foot of La Rambla. The Princess transfer will bring you to the World Trade Center.

We took the Princess transfer in May. We were dropped off just a short walk from the monument to Christopher Columbus at the foot of the Ramblas.

How to arrive:

The Airport of Barcelona is about 13 km from Barcelona center. Trains and buses have frequent schedules to the center, but since you have to change a couple of times and also to walk the last part to the terminal, the best option for traveling from the airport to the cruise terminal is to catch a taxi. Taxis are quick and not expensive. The journey will take about 35 min's by taxi. The journey from the airport to the port is unlikely to cost you more than €40. If you are a group of 4 or more you might consider a private transfer with Barcelona-airport-transfers . Luggage storage is only possible at terminal 1 (intercontinental flights) or at train station Sants Estacio (directly connected to the Airport and Plaça de Catalunya.

The Cruise Terminal of Barcelona and getting around:

The port is the starting and arrival point for many Mediterranean cruise itineraries. The seven operating terminals, and the various docks and facilities, are at a short distance from the city center. The terminal is at Port Vell in Barcelona which is at the Southern most end of the famous Ramblas. The seaport terminal is only 10 min's walk from the Ramblas. However, since there are several cruise terminals at the port and if you are in one of the terminals which are further away from the Ramblas you may catch a taxi or the shuttle bus, which will take you to Monument Christopher Columbus which is at the Southern most end of the Ramblas. The shuttle bus service runs from all port terminals down to the monument.

There is a port shuttle bus that goes from the cruise terminals to the Columbus Monument at the bottom of Las Ramblas. The bus is called Cruiser T3 but is often referred to as the 'Blue Port Bus'. The fare is €3 per person, €4.50 return. You cannot use a T10 ticket on this bus. The nearest metro station is Drassanes which is on line L3. It is about 2-3 minutes walk from the Columbus Monument, where the shuttle bus stops. The bus is wheelchair friendly.

A taxi is a good bet (around 15 Euro) if you want to go to Placa de Catalunya with its famous stores and stroll back, slightly downhill, over the Ramblas towards the harbor. Taxi back will be 2.10 euro more, due to port charges. Do not pay more than that as cabbies make you believe.

As your hand luggage is checked by the port authorities itself before entering the modern terminal, there is ample of opportunity to stock up on your favorite alcoholic beverage in the competitive priced tax-free shops before boarding. No carry-on bags will be checked when boarding the ship.

In spring 2018, Carnival Corporation opened a new terminal, which is designed to accommodate Carnival's next-generation ships, powered by eco-friendly Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Barcelona balances itself on the cutting edge of architecture, intellectual life, and style. The capital of Spain's Catalonia region is one of the country's -- maybe even Europe's -- most beautiful and vibrant places. Barcelona is also a city of neighborhoods, all distinct, which are surprisingly walkable and easily accessible by bus, metro or even on foot (in comfortable shoes). Don't miss a stroll along Las Ramblas , replete with produce and flower stands, a historic opera house and a thoroughly intriguing open pet market. Maybe you will be there when they are celebrating one of the many fiestas: whether they are celebrating a saint's day or the changing of the seasons, the people of Barcelona fill the streets with color, music, and excitement for young and old. The Picasso Museum in Barcelona is indispensable for understanding the formative years of Pablo Ruiz Picasso. The genius of the young artist is revealed through the more than 3,500 works that make up the permanent collection. However, the Picasso Museum also reveals his relationship with Barcelona: an intimate, solid relationship that was shaped in his adolescence and youth, and continued until his death. Thanks to the wishes of Picasso and his friend Jaume Sabartés, Barcelona now has the youthful work of one of the twentieth century's most significant artists.

Miró's works are to be found today in the world's principal museums and cultural institutions. Many, however, have remained in Catalonia, mostly in the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona. Throughout his life, Joan Miró took a particular interest in the diversity of materials, forms and colors. It led him to explore and experiment with different art forms such as painting, sculpture, printing techniques, ceramics, the theater, and tapestry. One result of this was a collaboration with Josep Royo, an innovative craftsman, who during the seventies aroused Miró's interest in tapestry and textiles.

The best place for a ride is along the well-marked bike lanes by the sea, which lead to the medieval streets of the old city, past busy ports and down to beaches. If you're willing to brave traffic and tackle a few hills, you can crisscross the city and there are many more bike lanes in the planning. A guide and a map can be purchased at the Tourist Offices .

Hop on hop off . If you are coming to Barcelona for the first time, or if you are planning to stay in the city for a short time, this is one way of getting to quickly see the city's monuments and most important tourist sights of interest.

The Barcelona Tourist Office offers, among other interesting tours, 4 different, english speaking, guided walking tours, including a Gourmet walk in which you will find out about the history of Barcelona's cuisine as well as some of its flagship restaurants and food outlets, and sample some of their products. If you want to see Barcelona from a birds eye point of view, ride the Montjuic cable car . You can buy tickets on board. The entrance is not to far from the harbor, just follow the cables to the entrance. If it is too windy, the cable cars won't run. So simply look to the sky to see whether they are running or not. A small guide book is very useful, as there is so much to see in Barcelona!

If you love to shop then you're going to love Barcelona! Barcelona Spain shopping offers around 35,000 shops. The city is also home to the famous 5 KM shopping line. The shopping line stretches from the top of the Ramblas, through Placa de Catalunya along Passeig de Gràcia and up Avenue Diagonal. Much of the shopping line is pedestrianized making it a pleasant experience to wander from shop to shop without worrying about traffic. Along the Ramblas you will find La Boqueria A very colorful food market which also sells other goods and souvenirs.

Also along the Ramblas you also will find the Gothic Quarter, the medieval part of Barcelona. Here you will find many fine restaurants and outdoor cafe's as well as great stores who specialize in colorful ceramic goods of top quality.

The Ramblas is also the world's most pick-pocketed area!

Communication:

Barcelona has free Wi-Fi in the city - they are currently working on completely covering the city, but it's not there yet. Around the Ramblas, the reception is generally good.

Opening Hours and Holidays:

The most common business for shops and businesses hours are Monday through Saturday, from 9.30 oh to 13.30 oh, and from 16.30 to 20.00 h.

Big shopping centers and department stores open from 10.00 h to 21.00 or 22.00 h uninterruptedly. These big stores open in December sometimes on Sunday.

In coastal cities, in high season, shops are usually open passed 22.00 h.

Pharmacies open from 9.30 to 13.30 h, and from 16.30 to 20.00 h. In all major cities you can find pharmacies that open 24 hours. Pharmacies follow a rolling late-hour schedule, which is published in the newspapers, and is posted at all pharmacies.

Museums are in general closed on Mondays.

What to Do in Barcelona Cruise Port

Barcelona —the capital of Catalonia, Spain—is a popular stop on many Mediterranean cruise itineraries. Knowing what to do in Barcelona Cruise Port can be a hard if you are only there for one day. We have visited Barcelona for years and each time we go we try something different as when disembarking from a cruise you are only there for one day.

Out of all the cities in Europe, Barcelona is one of our favourites . In fact I have lost count how many times we have visited. As you’ll likely only have a few hours to explore , it’s important that you create a brief plan on which shore excursions or attractions you want to visit to avoid missing out on the best gems of Barcelona. We have covered everything on our visits to Barcelona to bring it all here for you to go and explore.

Everything you need to know about What to Do in Barcelona Cruise Port for When your Cruise Ship Docks

So, if your cruise ship is docking in the Spanish port of Barcelona and you’re trying to decide which things to prioritize, keep on reading as we’re going to cover how to get into the city from Barcelona, as well as the booking the city’s top attractions.  

How to Get Into the City From the Barcelona Cruise Port

Barcelona has two cruise ports , with the larger port being the Moll Adossat Quay . Moll Adossat Quay has four terminals , and it is where the larger cruise ships dock. The smaller port, The World Trade Center (WTC) has three terminals, and this is where smaller cruise ships will dock.

The terminal your cruise ship docks will ultimately decide how to get into Barcelona’s city. If you dock at Moll Adossat’s terminal A, for example, it will take you 25 minutes to walk to central Barcelona. But if you dock at terminal D, it will take you roughly 45 minutes. A big difference if you ask us. 

For cruise ships that dock in the WTC, however, the walk to the city centre is just under 10 minutes. And totally manageable! 

As you will only have a few hours in Barcelona, we highly recommend getting some form of transportation if your ship docks at Moll Adossat. And don’t worry, the Barcelona cruise terminal has a few options. 

After you disembark your cruise ship you will need to work out where you want to visit first. Firstly, you can hail a taxi at the nearby taxi rank to take you into the city. Or if you want to save a few euros, you can opt for a shuttle bus. Shuttle buses will run from Moll Adossat to the World Trade Center. They usually cost around 13€ for a round trip. You can then walk into Barcelona from there. 

In terms of the metro, there isn’t a metro that runs from the cruise terminals into the city. But you can use the metro to get around Barcelona after taking a shuttle to the WTC. You’ll find the Drassanes metro station near the Columbus Monument.

The Best Things to Do Barcelona Cruise Port and where to Stay ahead of your cruise

One of the best things about cruising is the fact that you can book onto a shore excursion or explore the area by yourself. We personally like to do a mix of both. However, if you are taking on the city by yourself, here are some of the best things to do when your cruise ship docks in Barcelona. Whether you are exploring Barcelona with the kids or with a loved one, there is many things to see and do, you really will be spoilt for choice.

Visit Sagrada Família

The Sagrada Familia cathedral is one of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi’s most famous and impressive creations. Construction of the Sagrada Familia began in 1882. And still to this day, it isn’t finished—they’re hoping to have it complete by 2026, just in time for the 100th anniversary of Gaudi’s death.

Both the exterior and interior of the cathedral are absolutely breathtaking and showcase Gaudi’s unique architectural style. To get inside the Sagrada Familia, you will need to purchase tickets. However, we highly recommend booking in advance because tickets on the day are extremely hard to come by.

Explore Park Güell

Another popular Gaudi Barcelona landmark that all tourists should visit is Park Güell. The Park Güell has a few interesting and unique features—particularly the main terrace, terrace walls, collonaded footpaths, and tiled mosaics. Although Gaudi didn’t actually design the houses that sit in the park, he did live in one of them. That house is now a Gaudi museum. 

Similar to the Sagrada Familia, you will need to purchase a ticket—preferably in advance—to enter the central area. But the park is a must-see for Gaudi fans.

One thing we will mention, however, is that Park Güell is far away from other Barcelona attractions. But you can get there by a hop on hop off bus. In our opinion, buses are one of the best ways to see the city. 

Stroll Along La Rambla

La Rambla is one of Barcelona’s most famous streets, filled with restaurants, souvenir shops, bars, and pubs. Stretching for just under a mile long, you can walk the entirety of La Rambla in under 30 minutes. But that time could be multiplied tenfold depending on how many sangrias you stop to drink. However be careful with handbags and wallets as there can be lots of pickpockets about this area.

Experience the Vibrant Atmosphere of La Boqueria Market

On La Rambla is a market called La Boqueria that is filled with stalls selling fruit, meat, and delicious Spanish snacks. The colours and atmosphere in La Boqueria are like no other, which has made it one of the most popular places to visit in Barcelona.

Enjoy the Beach at Barceloneta

Barceloneta Beach provides visitors with 2.5 miles of sand and sea, making it a popular spot for families visiting Barcelona. With bars, restaurants, and cafes lining the beach, Barceloneta Beach is a great spot for lunch. Or an hour or two of relaxation, whatever you prefer! You could easily spend the whole day here or get a cable car up the mountain for views of the city.

You’ll also find one of the best aquariums in Europe, L’aquarium Barcelona . The aquarium is just a short walk from the beach and another great activity for families with kids. 

Wander Through the Gothic Quarter

The Gothic Quarter is, for the most part, a pedestrian-only area with narrow streets amongst five-story buildings. Stretching from La Rambla to Via Laietana, the Gothic Quarter is an interesting area to explore and is even home to the Barcelona cathedral and the Palau de la Musica Catalana—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are lots of smaller tapas bars to grab a bite to eat in this area as well as street are covering some of the walls.

Within the Gothic quarter, numerous tranquil plazas beckon, providing serene havens to unwind and savor the ambiance with a glass of sangria. Barcelona Cathedral right at the core of this district, is a prominent highlight the immense Cathedral, boasts a captivating courtyard adorned with lush greenery and, intriguingly, a congregation of geese. You can also pay to go up the Cathdral for views from the roof!

Marvel at Casa Batlló

Another must-visit Gaudi site is Casa Batllo which is one of the architect’s most recognizable pieces of work. In 1900, Josep Battlo purchased the house and gave Gaudi free rein over its design just a few years later. Ultimately, Josep wanted a house that was completely different from anything else in the city. And boy, did Gaudi make that happen.

With irregular oval windows, sculptured stonework, mosaic tiles, and a roof that is likened to that of a dragon, the Casa Batllo is a true work of art that draws in visitors from all over the world. Like many other Gaudi buildings in the city, the Casa Battlo is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Discover the Magic of Casa Milà (La Pedrera)

Gaudi fans really will be in their element in Barcelona as yet another of the architect’s designs is on display for tourists to marvel at. Casa Mila was built between the years of 1906 and 1912. And is now a cultural centre with performances, art exhibits, and a Gaudi interpretation centre. 

Different from Gaudi’s other work—as the building is colourless—the Case Mila is just a short walk from the Casa Batllo. So you can tackle two Gaudi sites with one stone. 

Watch the Magic Fountain Show at Montjuïc

Originally built for the World Fair in 1929, the Magic Fountain of Montjuic puts on a display of colour, light, motion, music, and of course, water. With 3620 jets and the ability to produce 7 billion light water combinations, the fountain is an excellent free activity in the city of Barcelona. You can also walk up to Montjuic castle for fabulous views of Barcelona and the sea.

Take a Bike Tour Around the City

Aside from hop on hop off buses, a great way to see and learn all about Barcelona and its iconic landmarks is by booking a bike tour. Bike tours—with English-speaking guides—take you all around Barcelona in just a few hours, allowing you to see nearly all of the city’s attractions in one go.

Visit the Picasso Museum

Picasso is one of the world’s most famous painters. And although he is known for his colourful abstract art, the Picasso Museum is actually home to some of his early realism pieces that he painted when he was just a teenager. 

Have a Picnic at Parc de la Ciutadella

If you’re after a bit of greenery, then look no further than the Parc de la Ciutadella. The park offers visitors the chance to relax, walk, and picnic on its expansive grass areas. However, you can also visit the Zoo, the Museu d’Art Modern, and the Zoological Museum, which are all situated within the park’s walls.

Explore the Contemporary Art at MACBA

The Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona—or MACBA, for short—is an art institution that is renowned for its array of contemporary art pieces. Serving as a hub for artistic exploration, the museum’s art pieces—and the building itself—attract art lovers from all over.

Take a Cable Car to Montjuïc for Panoramic Views

One of the best ways to see the city of Barcelona from afar is by taking the cable car to Montjuïc. Elevating you 270 feet up the hillside, the cable car offers panoramic views of the entire Barcelona region. You’ll also see iconic landmarks like the Sagrada Familia and the port where your cruise ship will be docked. 

Climb to the Top of Montjuïc Castle

The Montjuïc Castle is a spectacular fortress that is perched on top of Montjuïc Hill. Dating back to the 17th century, the castle once played a significant role in Barcelona’s history. Now, however, it offers a glimpse into the city’s military heritage. 

Aside from witnessing the beauty of the castle, climbing up Montjuïc Hill offers truly spectacular views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea. So if you have the stamina, the walk to the top should take you around 20 to 30 minutes. Just be warned, some areas are steep, so the climb may not be suitable for everyone.

Discover the History at Museu d’Història de Barcelona

The Museu d’Historia de Barcelona —also known as the Barcelona History Museum—is a museum that takes you back through the history of the Catalan city. Located in the heart of Barcelona, the Museu d’Historia de Barcelona has a huge collection of artefacts, archaeological finds, and documents from hundreds of years ago.

Watch a Football Match at Camp Nou (FC Barcelona’s Stadium)

There really is no better attraction for soccer fans than watching a match at Camp Nou (FC Barcelona’s Stadium). Of course, whether a match is on really depends on the exact date and time you dock in Barcelona. But even if you can’t get tickets to a match, you can still take a tour around the stadium and the Barca Museum.

Try Local Tapas and Traditional Catalan Cuisine

You can’t visit Spain and not indulge in tapas—it would be criminal! Tapas are small plates of food that come together to create a full meal. And as Spain is the birthplace of these delectable dishes, you’ll find some of the best-tasting tapas imaginable. 

From Spanish omelettes and patatas bravas to croquetas and calamares fritos, there are so many tapas options to try. It also helps that they pair well with wine, beer, and sangria. Try the Pintxos which is a small tapas on pieces of bread, you will find it in lots of bars in the area.

Shop at Passeig de Gràcia for High-End Fashion

All you high-end, luxury, and designer lovers out there will be in your element in the Passeig de Gracia. With shops from some of the most well-known designer labels, the Passeig de Gracia is the answer to all your shopping dreams.

But, even if you don’t enjoy spending an arm and a leg on fashion items, even a walk down Passeig de Gracia is a must-do activity in Barcelona. Passeig de Gracia has beautiful architecture and plenty of cafes and restaurants.

Port La Coruna cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from La Coruna, Spain Galicia. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.

La Coruna (aka Corunna) is an Atlantic port city in Galicia (northwestern Spain), with population around 250,000 (metro 420,000), ranking it Galicia's second-largest and Spain's 17th-largest. A cruise port, La Coruna serves Santiago de Compostela (Galicia's capital) located approx 56 km (35 mi) to the south.

Port La Coruna (locode ESLCG) is located at the entrance of a large gulf and as a major cargo port serves the distribution of agricultural goods from Galicia. The seaport is the main engine for Galicia's economy and the province's richest region.

The city is famous for its lighthouse (Roman Tower of Hercules, UNESCO site) which is in continuous operation since 2nd century AD. The lighthouse is surrounded by an enormous public park with a golf course. The city is also famous for its glazed window balconies (galerías), Old Town (Ciudad Vieja), Calle Orzan district (where are most clubs and bars), Los Jardines (park located close to Rua Real and Los Cantones shopping mall).

As cruise port, La Coruna was inaugurated in 2009. In 2017, the Port recorded a total of 121 ship calls and 184,069 passengers (45% increase over 2016). The year also had 22x two-ship days. The busiest months (high season) are May and September.

During the COVID crisis (2021's last months) the cruise port handled 31 ship calls and 30,000+ passengers.

2022 became the cruise port's record year, with 136 cruise calls (out of 140 booked ship berthings) and a total of 222,723 tourists. The schedule included 20x two-ship days and 3x three-ship days. 2022's bussiests months were October (24 ship calls), September (21), April (19) and May (18). Maiden visits were made by the ships Disney Magic (DCL), Valiant Lady (Virgin Voyages), Carnival Celebration (CCL), Iona (P&O UK). The economic impact on the city was ~EUR 20 million.

For 2023, the Port had booked 140+ ship berthings, including 24x multiple-ship days (5x 3-ship) and maiden visits by P&O Arvia, Viking Saturn, Oceania Vista.

Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela[a] is the capital city of Galicia (autonomous province in Spain) with population around 100,000. The town was first mentioned in the 9th century and in 1985, the Old Town (featuring numerous historic buildings and narrow streets) was designated a UNESCO site.

The city's economy is based mainly on public administration (here is headquartered Galicia's government), tourism and higher education (USC university). Other large employers are FINSA (machined solid timber), UROVESA (heavy vehicle manufacturer), Blusens (electronics manufacturer), Televés (telecommunications equipment), Banco Gallego (Novacaixagalicia-owned Spanish bank).

Among tourists, the city is mainly popular for its nightlife, architecture and the cult of St James. The Way of St James (particularly in Holy Years - when July 25th falls on Sunday) attarcts between 200-300,000 pilgrims each year.

Besides Port La Coruna, Santiago de Compostela is served by a railway (high-speed trains) and an international airport (linking to the Canary Islands, Barcelona, Malaga, Bilbao, Alicante, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Milan, Geneva, Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, London).

La Coruna cruise terminal

Generally, cruise ships dock directly in downtown (at Transatlantic Quay) as Port La Coruna is just at ~5 min walking distance from the city's center. This is an exclusive cruise ship berth with a new passenger terminal providing all the standard tourist services (both to passengers and crew). Terminal's facilities and amenities include Los Cantones (shopping complex with stores, food venues, restrooms), city and tour information, free Wi-Fi. A taxi parking is approx 0,5 km from the dock.

Further improving its cruise-related facilities, in 2022 Calvo Sotelo (south quay) was converted from a cargo dock/berth to an exclusive (dedicated to cruise vessels) quay used in two-ship days.

The EUR 0,5 million project included building a new road access to the dock, adding security and commissioning a provisional tent/terminal.

Calvo Sotelo Quay has length 420 m / 1378 ft and direct transport link and communication with downtown. Its surrounding spaces were also opened to residents for leisure activities and cultural events.

The Transatlantic Quay remains an exclusive berth for cruise ships and is used on 1-ship days. 2 small or 1 large can be accommodated at the 484-m-long, 11-m draught quay.
