PM Modi to launch remaining routes in Nagpur Metro phase-I on December 11
Nagpur metro is a first-of-its-kind unique transportation network in the country with a four-level corridor which is formed out of an 18.9-metre wide steel girder launched across live railway tracks at a height of 28 metres from the ground level..
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11 will inaugurate the remaining routes (Line-1 and Line -2) in the first phase of Nagpur Metro, a first-of-its-kind unique multi-level transportation network in the country.
Nagpur Metro route from Kasturchand Park to Automotive Square constitutes Line-1 and Jhansi Rani Square to Prajapati Nagar forms Line-2.
It is a four-level transportation corridor which is formed out of an 18.9-metre-wide steel girder launched across live railway tracks at a height of 28 metres from the ground level, officials said.
An existing vehicular and pedestrian underpass forms the bottom level of the network. There are railway tracks on top of it which form the second level; while the national highway and the Metro rail line form the third and fourth levels respectively. This will be part of Asia’s longest double-decker viaduct spanning 5.3 kilometres.
This 80-metre double-decker steel span, weighing 1,650 metric tonnes (MT), was completed in a record time of two months. “The steel superstructure was placed over the Gaddigodam railway crossing where more than 150 trains and over one lakh vehicles passed the construction site daily. Launching of a gigantic 18.9-metre wide girder is probably a first in the Indian Railways,” said an officer.
“The double-decker Open Web Girder (OWG), which was created with 1,650MT structural steel with 8,000 structural elements, was placed over the busy Gaddigodam Railway Crossing last winter. All the activities were done in extremely tight railway block hours, given how busy this route is. The span stands at a height of 28 metres above ground. Such a critical and complex task has never been attempted before in India,” said project manager Arun Kumar from Afcons Infrastructure, a private construction company.
During the course of the work, four 250 to 500 tonne cranes, one super lift and 22 torque wrench machines were deployed. The technicians made use of special lowering arrangements for the entire operation of the multi-level transportation network, Arun Kumar said.
The phase-1 of Nagpur Metro comprises a 39-km-long elevated corridor. Afcons build 17.1 km. Besides, it also built the longest double-decker viaduct, eight stations in Reach-2 and Reach-1, and two depots. The Sitabuldi Interchange Station is the highest Metro interchange station in India in this corridor.
After inaugurating the Nagpur Metro phase-1 Lines, PM Modi will launch the first phase of Samruddhi Mahamarg.

PM Modi Lashes Out At INDIA Bloc, Says DMK, Congress 'Lying' To Stay in Power

On Wednesday morning, PM Modi will travel to Vellore in a helicopter. He will address a public meeting at around 10.15 a.m. at Vellore Fort grounds
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking the Bharatiya Janata Party’s election campaign in Tamil Nadu a notch higher with his third public meeting in the state’s Kongu region, on Wednesday, April 10. PM Modi addressed a public meeting in Coimbatore’s Vellore and will hold another in the district’s Mettupalayam area later in the day, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
He will later travel to Maharashtra, where he will address a public meeting at Ramtek constituency in Nagpur.
PM Modi In Coimbatore
The Prime Minister is addressing rallies in Coimbatore to support NDA candidates, including BJP state president K Annamalai, Union Minister L Murugan, State general secretary AP Muruganandam, and Soumya Anbumani of ally Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) among others.
Annamalai is contesting from Coimbatore, Murugan from Nilgiris constituency, Muruganandam from Tiruppur and Soumya, wife of PMK president and Rajya Sabha MP, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, is fighting from Dharmapuri.
Addressing a public meeting at Vellore Fort grounds, PM Modi said that in the last 10 years, NDA has prepared the foundation for a developed Bharat.
“We all need to unite to make India and Tamil Nadu ‘Viksit’ in this 21st century. The central government of NDA has prepared the foundation of a developed nation in the last 10 years. You all must recall how India was seen before 2014. Our economy was weak and only scam-related news were used to be there,” he said.
He stressed that India is emerging as a power in the world today and he’s happy that Tamil Nadu has played a big role in this.
“Tamil Nadu has made a huge contribution in taking India forward in the space sector. Tamil Nadu’s hard work has played a vital role in taking India forward in manufacturing. I am confident that the Defence Corridor being built in Tamil Nadu will take this state to new heights,” the PM said.
Attacking the Tamil Nadu government, Modi said DMK wants to keep the state trapped in old thinking and old politics.
“The whole DMK has become a company of a family. Due to DMK’s family politics, the youth of Tamil Nadu are not getting a chance to move ahead. There are three main criteria to contest elections from DMK and move ahead in DMK. Three main criteria are family politics, corruption and anti-Tamil culture,” he said.
He later addressed a public meeting at Mettupalayam and said the place has both, the energy of Coimbatore and the beauty of Nilgiri Hills.
“The tea of Nilgiri is famous across the country, and it is not possible for a chaiwala to not have affection for such a beautiful place of tea gardens,” he said.
He also attacked the Tamil Nadu government and said, “Everyone is saying DMK’s exit will be by BJP and NDA.”
“Today, I am seeing that BJP is dominant in the entire Tamil Nadu, everyone is saying that DMK’s exit will be done by BJP and NDA. The entire Tamil Nadu is saying ‘Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar’,” he said.
He also slammed the Congress and DMK for promoting dynasty politics and said both family parties are keen to stay in power by uttering lies.
“Congress and DMK made SC/ST, OBC yearn for houses and electricity for long, but BJP gave homes, electricity and free ration… T hese family parties think that except their children, no poor tribal can sit on a high post. But for the first time, the BJP made a tribal woman the President of India, and at that time too, the INDI alliance opposed it,” he said.
PM Modi had already toured the Kongu region twice for Lok Sabha poll campaigning, first with a public meeting on February 27 in Palladam, and second time during a rally in Salem on March 19.
PM Modi In Nagpur
In the Ramtek, PM Modi will campaign for Shiv Sena (ruling Eknath Shinde faction) candidate Raju Parwe. PM Modi’s rally is aimed at bolstering public support for the Shiv Sena candidate.

Lok sabha elections 2024: PM Modi addresses rally in Nagpur supporting NDA’s Ramtek candidate
Pm modi addresses a rally in nagpur, maharashtra, in support of the national democratic alliance’s (nda) candidate in the ramtek constituency, shiv sena’s raju parwe. this rally marks another stop in pm modi’s extensive election campaign across various states..
The rally was in support for the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) candidate in the Ramtek constituency. The rally aimed to bolster backing for Shiv Sena’s Raju Parwe, a key contender in the upcoming polls. PM Modi’s visit to Nagpur follows a series of election rallies across various states, including Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. The rally in Ramtek underscores the NDA’s concerted efforts to consolidate support for Raju Parwe, who joined Shiv Sena earlier in March.
Preparations and political landscape
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, a prominent figure in the Shiv Sena faction led by Raju Parwe, inspected the rally grounds ahead of PM Modi’s visit. With the polling date approaching, CM Shinde ensured that all arrangements were in place, despite earlier rainfall in Nagpur.
Maharashtra’s electoral significance
Ramtek, slated for polling on April 19, represents the opening phase of Maharashtra’s Lok Sabha elections. With 48 seats at stake, Maharashtra holds significant electoral sway, second only to Uttar Pradesh. The BJP and Shiv Sena, allies in previous elections, secured a substantial victory in 2019, winning 23 out of 25 contested seats.
Political realignment
Recent political realignments, including the split within Shiv Sena, have reshaped Maharashtra’s political landscape. CM Eknath Shinde’s breakaway faction’s alliance with the BJP signals significant shifts in the state’s political dynamics.
Upcoming polling phases
Maharashtra’s Lok Sabha elections will unfold in five phases, spanning from April 19 to May 20. The fragmented political landscape sets the stage for a closely watched electoral battle, with parties vying for dominance amidst evolving alliances and new power dynamics.

- PM Modi visits scion of the Jamnagar royal family
- Visit comes amid stir by Kshatriya community over Rupala's remark
- Polling on Rajkot Lok Sabha seat on May 7
As Kshatriyas continue to protest against Union minister Parshottam Rupala over his remarks on erstwhile ‘maharajas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday visited the scion of the Jamnagar royal family and praised the community for its sacrifices.
Rupala is the BJP candidate for the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat, which goes to polls on May 7.
Ahead of his poll rally in Jamnagar on Thursday evening, PM Modi met Jam Saheb Shatrusalyasinhji at his residence in the city.
Upon reaching Jamnagar, went to the residence of Jam Saheb Shri Shatrusalyasinhji and had a wonderful interaction with him. Meeting him is always a delight. His warmth and wisdom are exemplary. pic.twitter.com/W7xqrED4Ax — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) May 2, 2024
He also shared photos of Shatrusalyasinhji, the last person to hold the title of Maharaja of Nawanagar, putting a ‘halari paghdi’ (royal turban) on his head.
Later, PM Modi reached the rally venue wearing the headgear.
Addressing the rally, PM Modi recalled the battle of Bhuchar Mori, which was fought in 1591 between the army of Kathiawar led by Nawanagar State and the Mughal army at the Bhuchar Mori plateau near Dhrol in Jamnagar district.
The battle, which was won by the Mughal army, resulted in a large number of casualties on both sides.
“When I was chief minister in Gujarat, some Kshatriya community leaders came to meet me and invited me to attend an event at Bhuchar Mori. One of them told me ‘though we are inviting you, we know that you will not come’,” said the PM, who held three more rallies in the state during the day.
PM Modi said when he asked the person why he made such a comment, the person told him that no chief minister had gone there in the past because someone had spread a rumour that if a CM visited that place, he would lose his chief ministership.
“I told them that I would definitely come because my CM's post held no value against the sacrifice of the Kshatriya community. And I attended that event,” PM Modi said.
The Kshatriya community is angry with Rupala for his statement about former rulers.
Rupala had triggered a row by claiming that erstwhile ‘maharajas’ succumbed to the persecution by foreign rulers and Britishers and even married off their daughters to them.
The Kshatriya community in Gujarat strongly objected to the remarks as the majority of the erstwhile royals were Rajputs.
