Requirements

Minimum age requirement is 7 years old. Excellent for adventurous individuals, families, and groups.

Minimum number of people to operate a tour from Manuel Antonio, Jaco and Dominical is 2 people (except for our "Rainmaker Rainforest Hiking" and "Carara National Park" tours with a minimum of 4 people, and the "Iguana Catamaran & Snorkeling" tour with a minimum of 6 people). If the minimum is not met, the amount for the minimum number of people will be charged. Rates for customers in Dominical, between Uvita and Cristal Ballena, are based on a minimum of 4 people. Rates for customers in Dominical between Uvita and Ballena Cristal are based on a minimum of 4 people.

Rates for private tours are calculated based on a minimum of 6 people, each person above this will pay an additional fee.

• All children 6 years and older pay full net rate.
• All children must be under adult supervision.

Travel Agencies: All reservations must be requested by fax, telephone, or e-mail. Your reservations will be confirmed, as well as pick-up times and any other necessary information within 24 hours. To help us serve you better, please make sure to clearly specify the pick-up location and any special instructions needed for your clients’ adventure with us.

We require that on the day of the tour your clients show us a copy of their voucher, which shows us their prepayment amount and any additional details needed for their Iguana Tours Adventure.

Individual Travelers – Direct Reservations: All reservations must be requested by fax, telephone, or e-mail. Your reservations will be confirmed, as well as pick-up times and any other necessary information within 24 hours. To help us serve you better, specify your pick-up location and any special instructions needed for your adventure with us.

On the day of the tour, you must present a copy of the payment receipt or voucher.

• Very important: Notify us of any medical conditions that may affect you during the tour.
• Notify us if you have any allergies, and if there are any meal specifications we must take into account.
• Tell us how many children you'll be taking along for the trip, as well as their ages.

If necessary, please submit cancellations by telephone, e-mail, or fax. There will be no refunds on cancellations made less than 48 hours before the confirmed pick-up time for any tour. For group tours, there are no refunds on cancellations made 7 days before the date of the tour. If there are any questions regarding these policies, please contact our Director of Operations directly.

Because we respect and protect our animals, the maximum weight allowed for the horseback riding tours is 200 lbs or 90 kg. We have social and ecological programs, please let us know if you require any additional information.

The butterfly exhibit was an absolutely wonderful experience to be apart of! The research they’re doing is fascinating and it was so wonderful to learn so much about such beautiful creatures.

Amazing work by scientists and eco-conservationists

The guide, Mile, was very passionate and knowledgeable and was very patient in teaching us about the different species of butterflies and their natural habitats, and life-cycles. We learned a lot about butterflies and their role in the ecosystem. We also met with the head scientist Jose who told us about the amazing research and outreach efforts. Truly, a wonderful global initiative at Biophilia.

Medicinal plant tour- Amazing

I loved this tour with our extremely knowledgeable guide, Beatriz. She has learned about medicinal plants through her grandmother and personal studies and is super enthusiastic about the use of plants for health and healing. This tour was fantastic. Esteban was our guide and he found so many animals, it was incredible! Sloths, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, capuchins, frogs, snakes, crazy spiders and more. It was very cool to see so much nature at night, and we were the only tour around as well. Flashlights include and our guide had a scope and used it to take pictures for us to take him! Highly recommend!!

Fabulous experience with Esteban

We did the night tour with Esteban where he showed us incredible wildlife including: frogs, snakes, a banana spider, bats, opossum and so much more. He was very knowledgeable and both learnt so much from him. Thank you Esteban!

Awesome Experience

Exploring the jungle late at night was something out of my comfort zone for sure. But as soon as the tour started I found comfort from the tour guide. He was so intelligent, any question I had there was no hesitation to hear an answer back. Seeing how comfortable he was made me feel safe and secure. Aside from this, it was amazing how quickly he was able to find little creatures and animals and explain/ name every single one of them. It blew my mind, I was so impressed. This experience is unlike any other and I am so glad I had the chance to experience this tour. Would definitely recommend.

Quepos night hike

I love the trip at Quepos. I like to pick up interesting plants to ask Jose about it. they are very patient and friendly. There are so many animals and I love the night hike

We had an amazing hike with Chris! He was able to spot so many animals barely visible to the naked eye and he made sure that everyone knew what they were looking at. A very unique experience!

This night hike was the best our school group had in Costa Rica (and they were all enjoyable). Frogs, scorpions, and the beauty of the jungle at night!

We visited Costa Rica in March 2024 and had so many excellent adventures, but absolutely the most memorable has to be the guided night hike at Biophilia Park! Our great guide helped us stay safe in the forest and helped everyone in the group get great views of some cool frogs, a snake, a glowing -in-UV-light scorpion, and many other cool critters. It’s surreal being in such a wild place at night — not to be missed!

Awesome tour!

The night tour was a lot of fun. It was a completely different experience getting to hike the park at night and see the nocturnal activity. Our guide, Estevan, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and was able to spot just about all the wildlife we came across. Highly recommend!

Great experience

We loved this experience. The group was small, so we could all participate and hear the explanations. The guide was very helpful and explained everything in English and Spanish.

We could see many animals and take pictures: scorpions, spiders, snakes, lizards, frogs and a marta.

Jungle night tour

We had a memorable jungle night tour with Diego! he provided an overview of the ecology of Costa Rica, spotted many nocturnal creatures, and provided fascinating facts about each, such as about the golden orb weaver, which we looked for more information following the tour…

My wife and I took this tour to get a good look at the animals that you wouldn’t typically see. Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and able to spot things that we couldn’t see if we were looking right at it. We had a wonderful time and would certainly do it again!

Jungle comes alive

Worth every penny, even if you are terrified by spiders. Our guide Esteban was very diligent in finding tons of wildlife, from poisonous banana spiders, to sleeping hummingbirds, to a mother Cayman and her chirping little ones. We saw more than I can possibly describe here. Wear long pants and bug spray. We did and didn’t regret it. Highly recommend this tour and the provider.

Breathtaking Experience!

We are so grateful we got to experience this tour. From the moment we arrived, Chris, our tour guide was so welcoming and accommodating. His knowledge of both Flora and Fauna was exceptional. Beautiful frogs, snakes, spiders, birds, bats were all appreciated and admired with great enthusiasm. Fantastic way to see jungle by night!

Cesar was our guide, and he could not have been better. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and can identify every sound and every insect we saw. I would definitely recommend wearing the wellies (rubber boots for Americans!) that they provide to protect your feet and ankles. Sadly we didn’t see any snakes but the amazing spiders, possums and tree frogs more than made up for it. A highly enjoyable experience, I definitely recommend it.

Amazing Experience

Night jungle with all its magical sounds was mesmerizing! Ficus tree, 30 years old Bromellia, Oophaga poisonous dart frog, bull frog – poisonous, grows up to 0.5 Kg, Amblypygi is a cross between a scorpion and a spider, called a tailless scorpion, male and female golden orb spider nephila, brazilian banana spider – its bite sends you to the hospital, gladiator frog, Red eye leave frog, and Jesus Christ lizard – runs on the water 1.5 meters per second. We were looking for snakes and caiman crocodiles but did not see any this time. Beatriz is amazing tour guide. She is educated and knowledgeable; very excited about nature and beauty of rainforest. Beatriz takes stunning photos and videos using your camera, just ask her. Also ask Beatriz about her future educational projects. Very nice and exciting person. She deserves every minute of your time. Tipping is welcomed too. Definitely must go tour.

Jungle Night Tour in Manuel Antonio Quepos

Project Description

According to studies, the largest percentage of animals of most groups are active mostly or exclusively at night. Especially when the sun goes down, what is known for photographers as the bleu hours, that means from 18:00 – 20:00 hours, depending on locations and altitudes.

Once the sun sets in the Costa Rica Rainforest, the jungle takes on a totally different character. It goes from a green, cathedral-like forest where beautiful shining blue Morpho butterflies fly along small rivers, to a pitch-black jungle filled with the sounds of millions of insects and dozens of frogs & toads. It is the same green, fascinating forest, but now it is dark and you are ready to go.

It’s the best time to find beautiful tree frogs, shy snakes, and other rainforest creatures that only come out at night.

The beautiful symphony of a tropical rainforest at night, is one of the most exiting experiences. Turn off your lights for a moment,  reserve  this tour and just dedicate your attention & love to this unforgettable moment.

He shared some interesting facts and history about the chocolate making in Costa Rica, from the cocoa tree plant to the chocolate bar. He made the whole tour entertaining and fun. But the best part is actually tasting the cocoa bean at each stage of the process. There were also some amazing animal/bird sighting that happened during the tour.
