Bar Italia have announced their new album, The Twits , with a music video for its first song, “ My Little Tony .” The LP is due out November 3 via Matador . Check out the new video below.

Bar Italia—the London-based trio of Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi, and Sam Fenton—are playing Pitchfork Music Festival Paris in November amid a European tour. See the band’s tour dates below.

The band recorded The Twits in eight weeks in a makeshift home studio in Mallorca. It was mixed by Marta Salogni. It’s Bar Italia’s second full-length of the year, following their debut, Tracey Denim , which dropped in May.

London-based trio bar italia has been causing a stir with a string of live dates around Europe and two new albums in 2023. The most recent album, The Twits, employs a catchy-crunchy-dissonant sound with laconic yet emotionally direct singing. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the accessible side of forebears like Sonic Youth, and even a bit of ‘60s psychedelia, but firmly grounded in modern times. Here’s betting they whip up a glorious racket for their first U.S. tour. With Insula Iscariot.

Over the last two years, bar italia have released two albums, an EP and several singles on Dean Blunt’s World Music label , leading to much word-of-mouth, sold out headline shows , and festival performances at Pitchfork Music Festival London, by:Larm, OUT.FEST, Le Guess Who?, and End Of The Road.

The band recently released their second album of 2023 titled ‘The Twits.’ It was recorded by the trio over eight weeks from February 2023 in a makeshift home studio in Mallorca, and was mixed by Marta Salogni. It finds bar italia’s economical yet evocative songcraft taking raucous, mystic, unkempt, occasionally sinister, and wholly committed turns.

bar italia also released their Matador Records debut in May titled ‘Tracey Denim, ’ which received widespread attention from publications including The Guardian (“one of the albums of 2023 so far” ), The Times ( “excellent debut album” ), The Observer (‘ Artist To Watch’ ), NME ( "a lasting impression that’s all of their own making" ), The Quietus ( “endlessly evocative”) and Pigeons And Planes ( “quickly establishing themselves as one of the most enticing upcoming bands” ).

Single “ Nurse! ” was playlisted on BBC 6 Music and received spins from BBC Radio 1, Absolute Radio and NTS. The release was accompanied by a UK tour, culminating in a sold-out headline show at the ICA in London , which The Spectator described as “transfixing… They just make their beautiful, off-kilter music, and let you unfold your own stories on top” .

If you’re into angular post punk, bands with ironic, detached song names, or anyone on the Matador Records roster, rising London three-piece bar italia may be for you. The band has announced that The Twits,  its second LP of the year, will be out November 3rd, and shared the record’s first single, “my little tony.”

Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi, and Sam Fenton recorded the second bar italia album in a makeshift studio in Mallorca, Spain earlier this year, tapping Marta Salogni to mix the project. While their debut, May’s  Tracey Denim ,  relished in mid-tempo soundscapes and abstract, nearly spoken-word vocals, “my little tony” picks up the pace a bit, with fuzzed out bass delivering a classic indie rock head bobber. Bar Italia are a band who began with a super low-key status, releasing music sporadically via Dean Blunt 's World Music label and largely keeping their indentity a secret. That led some to speculate whether they were a real band at all, or merely a moniker used by Blunt himself to share some seriously '90s indebted indie rock. However, earlier this year the trio revealed themselves and signed to Matador, releasing their critically-acclaimed debut Tracey Denim earlier this year.

Today the band has announced details of the follow-up to Tracey Denim . The second Bar Italia album of 2023 is The Twits and it will be available on November 3. The album's lead single, a scratchy and clattering punk track titled "my little tony," is streaming below. It comes with a video filmed at a bustling house party. According to press materials, The Twits was recorded over eight weeks from February 2023 in a makeshift home studio in Mallorca.
