Full Itinerary
Choose your ride.
You will meet at a centrally located meeting point and head straight to our garage to receive an introduction and choose one of our perfectly restored Vintage Vespas. Then the tour leader will fit each guest with a helmet and give some basic instructions and safety information. Once everybody is feeling a little more confident, it’s time to bite the bullet and get out there!
This is the only vintage Vespa tour that departs from Florence and our scooters are the only vintage automatic Vespas with no gear
You will set off (slowly at first) and head for the freedom of the hills, following the tour leader along the riverside and a tree-lined avenue to a famous viewpoint. From here, you’ll be able to look out and enjoy the incredible panoramic views – and take plenty of snaps to show off to your friends once you return home. Views on Tuscany Vespa tours don’t get much better than this!
Enjoy a Spot of Culture
After posing for photos with your beloved vehicle and the amazing skyline of Florence at the viewpoint, get your culture hat on and enjoy a quick visit inside one of the region’s oldest churches. This spot is also abundant with photo opportunities.
Dare to Speed Up
After taking things relatively slow and steady on the first half of the ride, it’s time to try some more challenging roads. The group will leave the crowds and traffic behind and take to the narrow lanes between castles and villas, through ancient olive groves and around vineyards. For those looking to experience the real raw beauty of Italy from its seldom-visited backroads, Tuscany Vespa tours really are your best bet.
Taste Tuscany
You’ll have certainly worked up an appetite after your exhilarating ride through Italy’s beautiful streets and back lanes, and luckily for you, the next part of the tour features a delicious Tuscan treat. Admire the magnificent views from our country estate and sample some of Tuscany's best prosciutto and cheese with a glass of Chianti.
The Final Stretch
Tuscany Vespa tours wouldn’t be complete without a final farewell ride, so hop back onto your vehicle like a real expert and ride back to the garage feeling more Italian than ever before.
MEETING POINT
Meeting point is in front of Biblioteca Nazionale (National Library) in Piazza dei Cavalleggeri. Look for your guide holding a Walkabout sign. Departure Time: 8:30am or 1:30pm Departure from: Florence

We spent a fabulous day with Tony and Lebi touring Sienna and Pisa with a wine tasting and lunch. Awesome day for my wife and I as we celebrate our 40th anniversary touring Italy.
EEEEEEELisa was great! She's a sweet and kind tour guide, who really knows her stuff. She has a lot of energy and really enjoys what she does, her accent is pleasant as well. First full day Tuscany, definitely recommend this tour.
Our Tuscany day trip was largely enjoyable, but it's important to be aware of the considerable amount of walking involved, which was a bit more than we anticipated, though not overly unreasonable. The only minor inconvenience was that the bus could have been parked a little closer to our destination. While the tour provided water, it came with a small fee, which we found a bit surprising considering the overall cost of the trip. It would have been more convenient if water was included in the package. Additionally, it would have been helpful to know beforehand that bringing some cash along would be useful. The trip lasted a total of 13 hours, and the provided lunch was quite light, so I recommend having a hearty breakfast before embarking on the tour. On the positive side, our tour guide, Dorian, was American, making it easy for us to understand everything. He was also very friendly and accommodating. Overall, I would recommend this tour with the caveat of being prepared for some extra walking and carrying cash for any additional expenses, including water. Aside from these minor points, it was a great experience.
We are in Italy for our honeymoon and went on this tour today. Let me just say - WOW! It was definitely a long day but so worth it. So. Worth. It. Luca met us at our meeting point at 8:45. From the beginning, we could tell he was going to be an amazing guide and chef! Once everyone arrived (21 people), around 9:00 we went on our merry way. Our first stop was the Central Market in Florence and boy do I wish we had one of these at home! It was the cutest and magical little market! Luca was so knowledgeable and incredibly hilarious while being so informative. We walked through and discussed many Italian delicacies, the differences between what we have in America versus Italy, and so much more. We got to try samples of different items such as the fresh and delicious cheese. This is where Luca's personality really started to shine. He is so incredibly funny and we honestly wish we could have him as our tour guide for the rest of our trip in Italy. He was so special and if you have the opportunity to take part in this tour/cooking class, I do hope that you get him! You can truly tell he loves what he does! We then took a 10 minute bus ride to the most beautiful estate for our cooking and wine class! This consisted of more fun, the best jokes made by Luca, and his expertise and cooking a delicious Italian meal. We started with the best bruschetta we have ever had accompanied with a glass of of Chianti. The rest of the delicious meal included a pasta sauce similar to Bolognese, and so yummy. We had the opportunity to create our own pasta and it turned out delicious. Not only that, we were also able to feast on a roasted pork loin with some of the most delicious roasted potatoes we've ever had. To top it off, we created our personal size tiramisu. Once we created all of these dishes with the help of our Chefs Luca and Carmela, we dined together outside with endless water, wine, and the most beautiful views. If I could give this ten stars I would. If you ever come to Florence, please do not hesitate to book this because it was so magical and so worth it.

I'm surprised that I never wrote a review for this amazing experience my husband and I had on our trip to Florence, Italy. A cooking class .... Which was on my list of to do things in Italy. We started the class by walking to the indoor central market and purchasing some of the ingredients of the meals we were going to cook. Our guide Martina was incredible. She was so friendly, fun and enthusiastic. After the market we took a bus to the farmhouse. What a beautiful place it was. With breathtaking views, rows of olive trees, herb garden, fruit trees, vegetable gardens and more. Our chef Carmela was amazing. She showed us how to make a bruschetta, fresh pasta and ragu sauce, pork loin and potatoes and of course tiramisu. What an incredible fun class. She made jokes, sang Italian songs while cooking and made sure we were having fun as well. I cannot tell you enough how much I enjoyed this class, as I'm writing this I'm wishing I was there doing it all over again. This is a must do for me if I ever go back to Florence and I highly recommend everyone who's interested in taking a cooking class. A fresh pasta making class.

We did the all day bus tour to Siena, San Gimignano, and Pisa. The day was long, but Tony our guide and Sergio our driver kept us entertained and on time. We enjoyed all the stops and the scenery was amazing.
Walking to San Gimignano
Best cooking class ever! If you are ever in Florence please take the Tuscan Farm House cooking class. The morning begins shopping for fresh ingredients at the market followed by an afternoon cooking in the Tuscany countryside. It was a picture perfect day and one of our favorite memories of Italy.
We had an amazing Tuscany Tour. Our tour guide was Alessandro who was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and organized. Prepare for a long day and lots of walking but worth every minute. The drivers are amazing!! This was by far one of the best days on our trip.
This is a great pizza and gelato cooking class at a beautiful Tuscan Farmhouse. Located 15 minutes from downtown Florence, we were transported in a modern air conditioned bus to a place where the ambiance was picturesque, our host Angie and staff were amazing, and the experience was truly wonderful. My wife often makes me do things like those when we travel and I go because I love her, but I really personally enjoyed this experience. We made pizza! And it was good! We also made milk chocolate gelato, and it was really good too! Each pizza was custom made according to the taste of the guest, while we made over a dozen varieties of gelato. Specialized facilities made it easy, the staff were so friendly and nice (and patient too - my wife ruined her first pizza putting it in the wood-fired oven), and the wine and beer kept flowing all night. Although a 4:30 hour class, it went by so fast and we were happily occupied the entire time. I highly recommend this experience to visitors in Florence.
Amazing tour! 100% recommend booking them while in Florence. Fun pizza and gelato class in a beautiful setting. Food was incredible!

Have you always dreamt of walking the Italian Alps and the Dolomites but you didn’t feel fit enough for it? We have planned the trip for you. Our hikes are very doable. No big climbs. No fear of heights on our walks. But a lot of fun though.
We stay for 2 nights in the traditional small town of Bressanone with pointed red roofs. We visit a winery in Bressanone that makes fantastic white wines.
We then transfer to the Valle Aurina to absorb the beuaty of the mountains and the green valleys. As an introduction we stop to a museum of farming life and a small workshop that extract scent from flowers and conifer wood. We stay for 4 nights in the town of Campo Tures, a gem at the bottom of 2 valleys: Valle Aurina and Val Pusteria. The hotel is a very nice 4 starred hotel with sauna and SPA.
Each day we visit cheese farms, wool artisanry workshops. Almost every day we eat at the local malga ; Malga is a house with shelter for the cows, surrounded by the pristine pastures, rich in wild herbs and flowers with delicate scents, where the cattle roam free. The walk to the malga is very relaxing: not more then a couple of hours of gentle uphills and downhills.
We also visit a mine! We learn about what made this valley rich but life was so hard.
We can’t forget the Dolomites! The Tre Cime di Lavaredo (the three peaks of Lavaredo) are one of the most iconic picture of the Dolomites. We hike around the 3 peaks and you will love it! But here’s the best part – we’ve carefully timed our visit to well known places like Piazza, ensuring you can savor the beauty of the Dolomites in blissful solitude, away from the tourist crowds.
The whole adventure has been designed, in pure Walk About Italy style, to stay away from the crowds as much as we can and to provide an insight in the real life of this part of Italy that lays only few miles away from the border to Austria.
You can travel with a small group or privately. You choose!
6 night stay at hotels (two 4 starred hotels with ensuite bathroom). All the hotels are conveniently located in the town historical centers. Hotels have a swimming pool. Book early and we will try to accommodate you in a room with a view.
All breakfasts, 5 lunches, 4 dinners. Local wine is always included with lunches and dinners. Vegetarian? Vegan? No problem!

GASSER HOTEL – BRESSANONE
DRUMLERHOF HOTEL – CAMPO TURES
The Drumlerhof is located in Campo Tures at the beginning of the Valle Aurina. In this hotel, respect for nature and respect for people go hand in hand. We, Innerhofer-Fauster, are like this: we support local producers with conviction, we buy only fair trade products and we have been managing the hotel for years according to the principle that there must be the right balance between nature, man and well-being. We were gluten-free before fashion exploded, Ruth knows her stuff in the kitchen, and our desire is to leave what we have inherited to our grandchildren. Hotel Drumlerhof in South Tyrol: for a dream vacation you need the right contact with reality.

Day 1 – Meeting in Bressanone and guided tour of the town
You meet your guide at the hotel’s lobby. After a quick chat about the plan for the week, we explore with a local guide the beauty of this cute little town. We focus on the huge cathedral. The Romanesque-Gothic cloister annexed to Bressanone Cathedral is one of the most important artistic monuments in South Tyrol, above all for its frescoes. Bressanone boasts a very flourishing past, thanks also to its illustrious guests. In fact, various emperors have stopped in this area. This aspect was also due to the fact that the town was a bishopric in the Valle Isarco.
After our nice informative stroll in the town, we will immediately immerse in the delicious food that the area provides: Goulash and strangolapreti (short noodles made with stale bread, flour, eggs, onions)
3 km = 1,8 miles – town stroll ****Gasser Hotel – Bressanone dinner
Day 2 – A walk in the vineyards of the valley of Bressanone. Visit, tasting and lunch at a small winery. Visit of the Novacella Benedictine Abbey.
Breakfast is served with breads, eggs, local ham, and handmade jams. Just a 5-minute public bus ride and we will get to the trailhead. Today we explore the sides of the valley of Bressanone. A peaceful walk of 2 hours through vineyards and apple trees leads us to our next destination: the Pacherhof wine farm. The Huber family will show us around the vineyard. We then seat for lunch at their restaurant combining the delicious food with MuellerThurgau, Pinot Grigio, Riesling and Gewuerztraminer wines. After lunch we shortly arrive at the Abbey of Novacella, founded in 1142 by the Augustinian bishop of Bressanone. This is where regular canons live and work according to the rules of the order of St. Augustine. They are particularly committed to solemn services, pastoral care in the parish, as well as science and culture, and they have always worked to fulfill their educational mandate. We visit the Abbey for about an hour. A gentle flat walk of 1 hour along the river Isarco will take us back to our hotel in Bressanone. Dinner tonight is on your own, with lots of possibilities in one of the many restaurants in town.
9,5 km = 6 miles ****Gasser Hotel – Bressanone breakfast – lunch
SHOW DAY 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Day 3 – The Valley of Campo Tures. Visit of distillery of essential oils. Luch at a delightful cheese farm
Today we transfer to our next location: Campo Tures. First we stop at Bergila a family run business that specializes in the distillation of essential oils, such as mountain pine oil, and in the preparation of organic herbal products. In fact, since 1994 the Niederkofler family has been cultivating herbs and medicinal plants according to the strict criteria of organic farming. The precious raw material is then transformed by hand with great care and passion into various blends and herbal preparations. The long experience gained, but also the choice to carry out the harvesting and production phases following the lunar calendar, contribute to the creation of excellent quality products. We visit their garden and the distillery. We then walk from the distillery to the village of Falzes, famous for its sunny panoramic position on the southern side of the Alps. After the walk (about 1 hour) we drive to lunch.
Lunch today is at an amazing cheese farm. The Hochgruber family will serve us their cheeses and delicious light lunch, including dessert. After lunch we visit the cheese making facility.
We then drive to Campo Tures, our home for the next 4 nights (they have a spa, sauna that you can use at your expenses).
Dinner tonight is at a delicious local restaurant in town.
4,5 km = 2,8 miles ****Drumlerhof Hotel – Campo Tures breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 4 – The most iconic place in the Dolomites: Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
Today we venture to one of the most well known place in the Dolomites. The three peaks are one of the most photographed place in Italy. We drive for about one hour and then we start our hike around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. This is the kingdom of geology. 140 million years ago a coral reef formed. Continental drift, with its enormous forces, have bent and raised the old coral reef. Then erosion did the rest. This set of processes has made this mountain one of the most iconic places in all the Alps. And today we are here to admire them from below. There are shorter options for the walk. Lunch today is at a small malga. After driving back to Campo Tures the rest of afternoon and evening is at your disposal.
10 km = 6,2 miles ****Drumlerhof Hotel – Campo Tures breakfast, lunch (dinner on own)
Day 5 – Visit of the museum of the rural traditions. Prato Piazza Dolomites walk in the afternoon with al-fresco dinner in the quietness of the mountains.
After a few minutes’ drive we stop at the museum of the rural traditions. This museum will provide lots of information about the life, history, and economy of the valley where we stay.
A light lunch just before driving to the Piata Piazza, another well known Dolomites site.
Prato Piazza is always very crowded, but we wisely go when the rest of the tourists are gone, later in the afternoon. Our goal today is the top of the Monte Specie where you can see the tops of all the mountains. Unbelievable! The walk is very doable. No fear of heights and no strenuous hike!
Our dinner today will be with delicious panini sandwiches with the view on the Dolomites. We are sure that you will remember this al-fresco pic-nic in the Dolomites for the marvelous panorama. We then drive back to our hotel.
Day 6 – The copper mine of Predoi. Hike in the Aurina valley.
After breakfast you drive to the town of Predoi. For the first hour and half we visit the interior of a copper mine. The Predoi mine experienced its period of maximum development 600 years ago, when the copper extracted here was already particularly coveted for its extraordinary malleability. The galleries, at that time dug by hand in the rock using very simple tools, can be defined as real masterpieces of mining skill. In the 20th century, the Predoi mine was still in third place in Italy in terms of importance in the extraction of copper. Today you can enter the heart of the mine on board a little train for guided tours. After the visit of the mine we start our hike in the surface of the mining area, a very beautiful a beautiful forest of larches and pines. After the hike we stop for lunch at a nice malga that serves the local dishes. Dinner tonight, after a well deserved rest at the hotel, is in Rio Bianco at the Malga Schnaidaleachn.
6,5 km = 3,7 miles ****Drumlerhof Hotel – Campo Tures breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 7 – Transfer to Bolzano Your driver will take you to Bolzano train station. Easy to continue your trip from this well served train station.

Riding Vespas Through Tuscany: A Must Do While in Florence!
After riding Vespas through Tuscany with Walkabout Florence , we’re convinced it’s an experience you simply cannot forego during your trip to Italy.
Picture this:
We drove vintage Vespas out of the narrow alleyways of Florence and into the countryside, under the blazing Tuscan sun.
The breeze cooled us down as we zipped by views of tall cypress trees, rolling hills, and terracotta roofs.
We stopped occasionally at centuries-old monuments, learned about their history, and snapped some photos.
And then we arrived at Walkabout Florence’s breathtaking Tuscan farmhouse. And drank red Chianti wine. And ate fresh pasta. And savored a beautiful antipasto platter.
And then we made our way back into the city center, like Vespa-riding pros, becoming an iconic spectacle for all of Florence’s tourists to see.
Obviously, riding Vespas through Tuscany with Walkabout Florence is one for the bucket list. And if I were you, I’d do it sooner than later. It’s just that good.
Riding Vespas through Tuscany with Walkabout Florence
So here’s how our day went, riding Vespas through Tuscany.
We arrived at the Walkabout Florence office just after 2 p.m., nervous, but ready to learn to ride Italian scooters.
After a quick crash course on turning on the Vespas, putting them in gear, and giving them gas, we each hopped on a Vespa and practiced driving down the street, turning around, and coming back.
We all lived through the test drive, so it was time to take to the streets of Florence, and then to the countryside of Tuscany!
Our group was small and intimate, which we loved. In total, there were just four Vespas, and two Fiats driving through Tuscany on the tour. Nine people in total. Amazing!
And yes, if you don’t feel comfortable driving a Vespa (because it is a daring thing to do for the first time in a big Italian city), Walkabout Florence also offers Vintage Fiat 500 Tours ! Awesome, right?
Before we knew it, we were off, driving our Vespas through the busy streets of Florence! We drove up, up, up past Piazzale Michelangelo and stopped at Abbazia di San Miniato al Monte, which is a beautiful 11th-century church with a Romanesque façade, an ornate cemetery, and some of the city’s best views.
We stopped at the church for about twenty minutes. Our tour guide, Angel, told us all about the history of the church, and gave us a few minutes to go inside, before continuing on our journey through Tuscany.

The highlight of the stop, though, was the views of all of Florence below. It was breathtaking.
And before we left, we took plenty of photos!
As we drove through the countryside, it was difficult to focus on the road. The views were just too beautiful to ignore. I mean, it’s not every day that you find yourself in Italy, mounting a vintage Vespa, and driving past some of the most sought-after vistas on the planet.
But if that actually is your every day routine, can I be you? Please?
For about two hours, we drove and drove. We passed by old castles and churches, little Tuscan villages, endless rolling hills, tall trees, and bright flowers.
The entire experience was wildly beautiful.
The views, of course, were stunning. But what about the freeing feeling of riding through Tuscany, fresh air hitting you in the face, waking you up, reminding you that this is real life, and seeing nothing but luscious, green land and sunshine stretching for what seems like an eternity?
Yes, you want that in your life. Need it, even.
And just like that, it was lunchtime.
I did not expect that we’d have a full-on feast on this tour. But thank goodness we did, because after riding Vespas through Tuscany for over two hours, we were starving, and oh, so parched.
Angel guided us to Walkabout Florence’s farmhouse in the countryside, where we were greeted by panoramic views of Tuscan vineyards, lots of pink flowers, and more happy travelers who were just finishing up with Walkabout Florence’s cooking class .
We sat down at two beautifully made outdoor tables, allowing us to savor the views as long as possible.
Next, plates of fresh marinara pasta were placed in front of us, along with bread, water, and red wine.
And now, some of you might be thinking, “Hmmmm, wine and Vespas. How can that be safe?” I can’t say I wasn’t thinking the same thing.
But like Angel explained it, the Italian way is to drink wine with food. You eat and you drink. And that’s the way life goes. But in the case of the Vespa tour, the wine is absorbed by the bread and pasta you eat, and since we only had about a glass or so, we were all just fine!
And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, there was more!
Next, a beautiful platter of cheese, salami, prosciutto, artichokes, olives, bruschetta, and frittata appeared. And at that moment, I think, we all experienced a state of pure bliss.
As we ate and drank, Angel, who is a master sommelier (impressive, right?), gave us a quick lesson on wine pairings and Chianti wines. This man, originally from Spain, has a wealth of food, wine, and historical knowledge. And lucky for us, he was willing to tell us everything he could, in the short time we had together.
We spent about an hour at Walkabout Florence’s quaint farmhouse, eating, chatting, laughing. But let’s be honest, an hour wasn’t long enough. I never wanted to leave.
We were so relaxed, full of good food, and fixated on those views, that only the promise of another fun Vespa ride back to Florence could convince us to peel ourselves from that pretty picnic bench.
Riding Vespas through Tuscany with Walkabout Florence really was the quintessential Italian experience. After three trips to Italy, to all different regions, I can honestly say that this Vespa tour is one of best things — if not, the best thing — I’ve ever done in Italy.
In short, riding Vespas through Tuscany with Walkabout Florence rocked . It’s an experience we’ll never forget. Given the chance, you should do it, too.

Walking Tours in Italy
Our philosophy is simple - to get out of the cities and into the countryside where you can discover the charm and beauty of the italian regions such as Lazio, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Piedmont, Sardinia, Amalfi Coast, the Dolomites, Sicily, Umbria and the italian riviera. Walking with a small, like minded group is the best way to explore them. It is important to have time to "smell the roses", not to rush through but to soak up the atmosphere. We are great believers that the journey is what matters, not the destination! All our holidays in Italy are guided - we are not there to overload you with facts and figures but discreetly share with you the wonderful places we have discovered during our "journey".
About gourmet food and wine in Italy
Italy is renowned for its gourmet food and fine wine culture, which has been developed over centuries of culinary tradition and innovation. The country's regional specialties reflect the diversity of its landscape and history, offering a range of flavors and textures that have become synonymous with Italian cuisine. Examples include dishes like risotto alla milanese, a creamy rice dish with saffron, and pasta alla carbonara, a dish of spaghetti with eggs, cheese, and bacon. Italian cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano and gorgonzola are famous worldwide for their rich flavors and textures, and Italian cured meats like prosciutto and salami are a staple of charcuterie boards around the world. And of course, no visit to Italy would be complete without indulging in pizza or gelato. Italy is also known for its fine wines, with regions like Tuscany, Piedmont, and Veneto producing some of the world's most prestigious wines. Tuscany is known for its full-bodied Chianti wines, while Piedmont produces elegant, complex Barolo wines made from the nebbiolo grape. Veneto is known for its sparkling Prosecco wine, which has become popular worldwide. Overall, Italian gourmet food and fine wine culture are intertwined, with each complementing the other to create a sensory experience that reflects the country's rich culinary heritage.
