INDORE ITINERARY – 4 DAYS

ujjain to indore tourist places

I recently travelled to Indore, Omkareshwar, Ujjain and Maheshwar. It was a short road trip filled with history, nature, spirituality and delicious food. This year there are quite a few long weekends. So, if you’re searching for short road trip destinations from Pune, you’re in the right place. It is a perfect 4-day Indore itinerary. Also, refer to the Ujjain Mahakaleshwar temple guide and Omkareshwar travel guide for elaborate details.

The 4-day Indore itinerary is to and from Pune. If you’re travelling from other cities, there might be slight differences.

DAY 1 – MAHESHWAR

On the first day, begin the trip early because Maheshwar is 540 km from Pune. The journey takes 11-12 hours. In the evening, visit the Narmada Ghat and enjoy the stunning sunset. Or take a boat ride on the Narmada River. Spend the night at Maheshwar .

Maheshwar Ghat on the banks of the Narmada river. Refer to the Indore, Ujjain and Omkareshwar itinerary for details.

DAY 2 – OMKARESHWAR

On the second day, explore the remaining Maheshwar Fort. Then head to Omkareshwar, 66 km away. Spend the day in Omkareshwar. Visit the Mamleshwar and Omkareshwar temples and take a boat ride to the Narmada-Kaveri Sangam. In the evening, head to Indore for the night.

Omkareshwar temple. Indore, Ujjain and Omkareshwar itinerary.

DAY 3 – UJJAIN AND INDORE

Have an early breakfast and leave for Ujjain, 55 km away. The journey takes 1½ hours. Visit the Mahakaleshwar temple and walk around the Mahakal Corridor. Later return to Indore. In the afternoon, visit the Bada Ganapati, and tour the Rajwada Palace and Lal Bagh Palace. In the evening, visit 56 Dukan. It is a street filled with 56 stalls serving chaat and other delicious food.

DAY 4 – PUNE

It’s time to return home. Begin the day early because it is a long drive back. Pune is 612 km from Indore and takes 12-13 hours.

DAY 4 – TRIMBAKESHWAR

If time permits and you aren’t ready to return home, stop by Nashik. The city has a lot to offer. You can visit the Trimbakeshwar temple , 30 km away. Or spend the day restaurant-hopping. Or you can head to Sula Vineyards. Also, I highly recommend eating misal at “Grape Embassy”.

ujjain to indore tourist places

DAY 5 – GONDESHWAR

It’s time to return home. Start the journey late. It is only a 4-5 hour drive to Pune. Also, I recommend stopping by the Gondeshwar Mahadev temple in Sinnar. It is a beautiful and lesser-known temple. Also, photographers will love it.

ujjain to indore tourist places

I realise that one day is insufficient in Nashik. But if time permits, why not take the opportunity to explore a new city?

Also, it is up to you whether to include Nashik in your itinerary.
