Truer words have never been spoken. I chose kashmir for my honeymoon because it is popularly known as the ‘Paradise on Earth’. Its scenic splendour, snow-capped mountains, bountiful flora-fauna, and kind people are the reasons why tourists love Kashmir so much.

Whether it is winter or summer, the undulating charm of Kashmir will leave you spellbound, and overwhelming at times. We had such an amazing time during our 5 days in Kashmir during winter. I am still under the spell this valley had cast on me .

November is the winter month in Kashmir. So, we were lucky to enjoy snowfall and outdoor snow activities like skiing, snowboarding. During this month, the whole valley looks like a snowy wonderland. The temperature was as low as 4 degrees Celsius. Thank god, we had packed enough woolens with us.

Here are the best highlights of our 5 days in Kashmir

Gulmarg had become a snowy wonderland. It was full of snow as the snowfall occurred in almost every 10 minutes. Our visit to Gulmarg was exciting. We had so much fun skiing and snowboarding. We also took photos in those traditional dresses since it is customary every time you visit a hill station. Lol

2. Saffron Fields

In an Apple Valley

Our ride from airport to Pahalgam was an awesome experience, visually speaking. We made a few stops on the way like Apple Valley, Kashmir Valley, Baisaran- the Mini Switzerland of India etc. The weather was cold but it was amazing. We also saw saffron fields in Pampore on our way. Now we know why it is so expensive to buy. It was really a heaven on earth.

3. Dal Lake

How could we not stay on a houseboat in Dal Lake on our honeymoon in Kashmir? Staying in one of the houseboats on Dal Lake is a mesmerizing and definitely a unique experience. We enjoyed complimentary meals (breakfast and dinner) during our stay on the houseboat. The views from the boat were exhilarating. Taking a boat ride anywhere you had to go on the lake was really fun.

Pahalgam: Hotel Green Heights

We spent a night in pahalgam at Hotel Green Heights. We had booked a Super Deluxe room for ourselves. The room was cozy and had all the amenities to make our stay comfortable. We also enjoy complimentary breakfast in the morning.

Srinagar: Aziz Palace Group of Houseboats

We enjoyed a comfortable and amazing stay in a houseboat on Dal Lake. the stay came with complimentary breakfast and dinner along with enchanting views of the valley.

Srinagar: Hotel The Montreal Srinagar

On our 3rd and 4th night, we stayed in a super deluxe room at The Montreal Srinagar. In this hotel, we enjoyed complimentary breakfast and dinner. The stay was also comfortable and cozy.

Restaurants In Kashmir

We did not try any other restaurant apart from the hotel restaurant we were staying at. It gave us the comfort of room service so that we wouldn’t have to go out. There are a lot of things that Kashmir is famous for like wooden artefacts, walnuts, saffron, Pashmina shawls, etc. I would really suggest to buy original handicraft specially made by hand in Kashmir only eg shawls and carpet.

What To Pack For Kashmir Trip

Since we went to Kashmir in November, we were cautious about the weather and kept enough woolens to keep ourselves warm. For our 5 days in Kashmir, we packed jackets, woolen cap and socks, shawl, sweaters, and thermals.

  • Rates are not fixed at the tourist destinations, eg cabs and horses in Pahalgam and Gulmarg. Tourists should negotiate as per their own budget.
  • Carry enough woolens if you are visiting Kashmir in November.
  • Keep checking the updates on the situation in Kashmir.
  • If you want reasonable prices, take a trip during the off-season. A flight from Delhi to Srinagar is cheaper as compared to the price during the peak season.
