Frequently Asked Questions
Can you drink the tap water in Bangkok?
Although technically safe to do so as certified by the World Health Organization, we recommend avoiding drinking tap water if you can afford to do so whilst going on your Bangkok excursions - even most people who live there don’t drink tap water. Buying bottled water is both very accessible and cheap anywhere in the country, so even though drinking from the tap is most likely ok, we still recommend taking some with you so you’re not taking any risks with your once in a lifetime Bangkok vacation! Make sure you keep plenty of bottled water on you throughout your tours in Bangkok to ensure you stay properly hydrated - it’s better to have too much than not enough!
How long should I stay in Bangkok?
Bangkok is a hub of activity, whether you’re interested in history, culture, architecture or much more. Although you could spend weeks exploring all around the city with our private Bangkok tours or at your own convenience, we’d recommend a minimum of 3 days, (or slightly more if you can), which should give you enough time to discover all the fun activities in Bangkok that it has to offer. It’s also worth figuring out the best time to visit Bangkok so you can get the most out of your visit to the city.
Are there enough activities for solo travelers and families?
Absolutely! Whether you’re a family with young children or going it alone, we have plenty of exciting excursions from Bangkok to suit what you want. Many of our activities are perfectly suitable for young children and adults alike - our family friendly tours in Bangkok are packed full of fun things to do for the kids and exciting or interesting things for adults, whereas activities like our Bangkok nature & adventure tours or Bangkok sightseeing tours are great for solo travelers or couples. Whatever your pace, our tours in Bangkok can be perfect for your vacation!

When is the best time to visit Thailand?
Thailand's climate is generally hot, humid and at times (like other South-East Asian countries) monsoonal. The seasons differ from coast to coast, so depending on which areas you're visiting, the weather can vary.
Thailand's north, east and west are great to visit from November to February, when the weather is cooler and dryer. If heading south, it's best to travel from January to April as these months provide conditions optimal for diving and snorkelling. This is peak time, however, so be aware that popular places like Chiang Mai, Ko Samui and Phuket can get particularly busy. It can also get quite busy from July to August as it's the northern hemisphere school holidays.
The monsoon season is from July to November, so it can get quite wet and the weather may be uncomfortably hot and humid for those who aren't accustomed to it. Yet travelling during this time can provide a different picture of Thailand, and is generally a less crowded time of year. March to June is less wet but is the hottest time in terms of temperatures. If you don't mind the heat then this can be a good time to go on holiday to Thailand to avoid the crowds.
Can I drink the tap water in Thailand?
Drinking tap water isn’t recommended in Thailand. Avoid drinks with ice and make sure to peel fruit before eating it. Help the environment and try to avoid buying bottled water. Instead, fill a reusable water bottle with filtered water. Your leader or hotel can tell you where to find filtered water.
Do I need to purchase travel insurance before travelling?
Absolutely. All passengers travelling with Intrepid are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their trip. Your travel insurance details will be recorded by your leader on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is very much an essential and necessary part of every journey.
For more information on insurance, please go to: Travel Insurance
Is tipping customary in Thailand?
Tipping isn’t customary in Thailand, but feel free to leave restaurants, drivers or service workers a small tip if the service has been particularly good. It’s always appreciated.

What Travelers Say
- I am throughly stoked that I chose Thai Tour Guide to go with. My guide was Joy, and we visited the Grand Palace, several temples around the area, stopped by for some pork satay at a local market which we walked around in, and visited the flower market where I picked up flowers for cheap! Also went on a canal tour and fed catfish. ★★★★★ Shamina Our tour Guide Andy was excellent! He shared many insights into the Thai culture that made it very interesting. He was funny, informative and flexible. I would 100% recommend him. We have been on many tours over the years and this was the best. Our driver Happy was also very funny and had cold cloths and water for us after each stop. The food was amazing on our food tour and the sights on our regular tour were all amazing. ★★★★★ Pam R. This was our first visit to Thailand and only having one day (we were on a cruise) wanted to experience Bangkok to its fullest. The whole experience from the initial inquiry to the tour itself was fantastic. Mr Chob was so accommodating and tailored the tour to suit our time in Port. As for the tour, simply amazing. ★★★★★ Philip B.
- This was our fourth time using Mr. Chob's THAI PRIVATE TOUR GUIDE company and our second experience with Ms. Joy (Rapeepan Pongkasamepongon) and, as always, we were 200% satisfied! From our arrival at the airport to our last hugs goodbye, our three day's in Bangkok were thrilling. ★★★★★ Suzanne S We’ve got two different days tours with Mr. George. One in Ayutthaya and the second one in Bangkok going to the Railway and the Floating Market! Both were amazing, Thai Tour Guide was the cheapest of all the option that we ask for, and we don’t regret of our choice. ★★★★★ Fran y Jose S Excellent experience, all email communication was prompt and professional, personal tour guide contact information and number was provided, two day tour with guide and driver, tour guide engaged everyone and ensured everyone's needs were met, informative tour with a great variety of experiences/activities. ★★★★★ Nick

Experience Thailand 6 Days, Small Group Tour (English Only)
I can say I thoroughly enjoyed this trip!! Sunny - our guide & Mr Hans - our driver were fantastic, always caring, friendly, kind, thoughtful, & considerate. Sunny never stopped feeding us local food treats the whole journey!???? Mr Hans kept the ‘bus’ immaculate at all times & always had a bottle of cold water & a cold wet towel pack ready for us, when we returned back from our activities. The accommodations were superb & in good locations. Our daily activities were varied, with a good mixture of travelling, history, scenery, culture, and of course lots of fun! LOVE-LOVE-LOVED it all. I would highly recommend this trip, especially ask for Sunny & Mr Hans ???? THANKYOU
Bangkok to Chiang Mai Express
Our tour guide Joey was amazing! So thoughtful and made sure we were all ok and happy. We stayed in a hotel in the river which was lovely and got a Thai massage in another hotel in Chiang Mei. We attended an amazing cooking class also
Thai Intro 18 Day
Just finished the 18 day tour with Dan (and Joe!) and it was truly epic! I had the time of my life…didn’t have to worry about anything, perfectly organised and I met some amazing people! I had to have a medical procedure on my foot during the last leg of the tour, which was pretty traumatic! Luckily Dan went above and beyond, took me to hospital visits and was a shoulder to cry on (quite literally!). Along with his and others’ support I only missed one activity, which I’m soo thankful for. Dan is a credit to Intro, and I’ve definitely fallen for Thailand ❤️. Deposit paid for my next tour, and I can’t wait to do it all over again! ????
- Island Hopping
Thailand Island Hopper
Taro our tour guide was first class. Made the trip for me and my son can’t praise him high enough. Miss communication with admin and me in emails regarding which hotels we would be staying in on the trip were an issue at the beginning of the tour which I wasnt happy about. The tour itself was great. Once in a life time trip for us
South to North - 15 days
I booked the 15 day Thailand group tour and had one of the best experiences of my life! I specifically chose this tour as it covered a lot of the key places including Chiang Mai and Pai in the North which actually turned out to be my two favourite places! I decided to book with Feel Free after having a half hour call with one of the founders Adam where all my questions about the tour was answered thoroughly and honestly! I personally don’t drink and go out but this tour is great if you do like to drink and party or don’t! I loved that everything was optional and no one was pressured to do anything they didn’t want to do! I’d join most of the group dinners and on the couple nights there were nights out I did my own thing! The tour is jam packed with lots of different activities day to day, can be a lot but definitely worth it! The itinerary is so carefully thought out and I experienced a number of activities I never thought I’d try! My group leader Jamie was also great! She was very attentive to everyone and their needs and how they were feeling. I really appreciated the little things like her being on call if I had any questions when I was out doing my own thing, waking up pretty early to make sure I got picked up to be taken to the extra Muay Thai class I decided to go to, carrying my suitcase at times when she didn’t need to, taking pictures and videos whilst we were enjoying the moment etc. I also liked the balance of having free time to do our own thing, especially when it can be overwhelming at times for some people to constantly be around a group of people. I also met some incredibly amazing and inspiring people on this tour who I’m so grateful to have met! Everyone was super lovely, sweet and caring and will never forget the amazing experiences and memories I made with everyone! The group was mixed with both introverted and extroverted people but everyone got on so well and made a conscious effort to get to know everyone! Overall one of the best experiences ever, thank you Feel Free for the best 15 days of my life!
Explore Northern Thailand
I had a great time on the Explore Northern Thailand tour. I liked experiencing all the different kinds of local transportation. The food was amazing, especially at the home stay. The hotels unfortunately got less comfortable as the trip went on, which was annoying. But overall it was a great time and I made some good new friends.

Thailand Island Hopper - 9 days
Feel Free is the best! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Feel Free. Jamie and Jonny were top of the line group leaders and helped create a group culture that built lasting friendships. The places we explored in Thailand and excursions we took part in have quickly become some of my favorite memories and I’m so thankful I chose to travel with Feel Free! I love my group and hope to be back so soon! -Sam

Southern Thailand Sojourn: Nightlife & National Parks
I already had high expectations before I went but this trip went so far beyond my expectations. As cheesy as it sounds, I really did make friends for life and I have been able to visit some of most breathtaking places on Earth. The tour guide was great! he was very accommodating and very knowledgeable. Travel was good and we were never traveling for too long a period at a time. The accommodation was also far superior than what I expected and rooms were clean, spacious and in resorts which had plenty of facilities. Overall an amazing experience and one I will definitely be repeating in another destination.

Thai Intro 9 Day
This trip was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Not only because of the incredible places we visited and the people I met who I can now call dear friends. But because our group leader Lauren B ( Loz) was not only an excellent leader but also a friend to all of us . She made this trip exceptional for us. She took care of each one of us, making sure we had all we needed , we felt safe, we had any questions, she was well prepared for every single stop in our itinerary. She even made sure each one of the group made It back home safe too. I couldn’t be any more thankful and happier to have gone to this trip, met all these amazing people and have gotten her as our group leader/ friend . Thank you for everything Loz. Thank you IntroTravel .
Amazing tour would highly recommend
Fantastic Circle of Thailand Tour - 10 Days
This was another great tour from Legend Travel Group. I wanted a hassle free tour where I am picked up from the airport and hotel in a nice comfortable van with knowledgeable friendly tour guides then dropped off back at the hotel. The hotels and tours each day was exactly what I wanted and expected that's why I chose Legend Travel Group again after using them on the Classic Indochina - 17 Day tour. I will never forget seeing the Elephants paint, play soccer or being lifted into the air with their powerful trunk that can lift over 600lbs. I was also able to pet real tigers, snorkel over corral reefs and try lots of local foods and nightlife. Great tour and great people !!!!!

Thailand Highlights 10-Day Package
Had an amazing time. Legend Travel Group made the whole experience so memorable. A special shout out to Emmy, Arti and Ben our local guides in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. There were no unexpected surprises. Whatever was promised was delivered. I initially had so many questions but Tony Bui from Legend Travel Group was so patient with me. This trip is definitely one for the books!
