About blindside.

Blindside is a Christian rock band from the southern suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden. They formed in Stockholm in 1994 as Underfree In 1996 they changed their name to blindside and released the Blindside album in 1997 through Swedish independent record company Day-Glo Records. Another album, A Thought Crushed My Mind, came out in 2000. The group received greater attention in 2001 when they toured with P.O.D., resulting in a contract with Elektra. In 2002 they released the album Silence and in 2003 they toured in support of Hoobastank. A 2004 headlining tour suffered equipment theft but then Blindside released About a Burning Fire. Losing support from their label, the next year Blindside released The Great Depression independently, and they put out the DVD Ten Years Running Blind. Blindside independently released another EP in 2007 – The Black Rose – but then they ceased most band activity until 2011 when they released With Shivering Hearts We Wait.

Caitlin Clark takes hard foul: WNBA hands out Flagrant 1 after reviewing cheap shot against Clark

Chicago's chennedy carter refused to answer questions about her play after loss to indiana.

untitled-design-51.png

After a league review, the WNBA has upgraded Chennedy Carter's foul on No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark in the third quarter of the Indiana Fever's 71-70 win over the Chicago Sky on Saturday afternoon to a Flagrant 1. Carter will not be fined.

Late in the third, Carter knocked down a mid-range jumper, then threw a shoulder into Clark's back and sent her tumbling to the ground. The two guards had been enjoying a competitive back-and-forth for a few possessions earlier in the frame, but there was no apparent reason for Carter to escalate the situation to such an extent.

The referees briefly reviewed the incident, but did not upgrade it to a flagrant or technical during the game. They did, however, deem it an away from the play foul because it happened before the ball was inbounded.

After the game, Carter refused to answer questions about what happened.

Chennedy Carter on the sequence with Caitlin Clark in the 3rd quarter: “I ain’t answering no Caitlin Clark questions.” Full clip: pic.twitter.com/4bRnyXgPjV — Matthew Byrne (@MatthewByrne1) June 1, 2024

Here's her full exchange with a reporter, Matthew Byrne:

Byrne: "On the play before bumping in with Caitlin, it seemed like she turned to you a little bit. After -- Carter: "I ain't answering no Caitlin Clark questions." Byrne: "Did she say anything to you?" Carter: "I don't know what she said." Byrne: "What did you say to her?" Carter: "I didn't say anything."

The interaction was then cut off by Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. Nearly 48 hours after the incident, Weatherspoon issued a statement on what happened.

"Physical play, intensity, and a competitive spirit are hallmarks of Chicago Sky basketball," Weatherspoon said. "Chennedy got caught up in the heat of the moment in an effort to win the game. She and I have discussed what happened and that it was not appropriate, nor is it what we do or who we are. Chennedy understands that there are better ways to handle situations on the court, and she will learn from this, as we all will.

"As a team, we will grow together and continue to work hard to display strong leadership and set a positive example for our competitors, fans, and partners."

Clark, for her part, called it "not a basketball play" during her in-game interview between the third and fourth quarters, and didn't have much more to say following the game.

"Yeah, I wasn't expecting that," Clark said. "But it's just like, respond, calm down and let your play do the talking. It is what it is. It's a physical game, go make the free throw and then execute on offense. Feel like that's what we did."

Clark did, however, expand on her feelings about the overall physicality she's dealing with to start her career. Earlier in the week, she  expressed frustration with what she views as a double standard when it comes to contact from opponents. In the wake of the dust-up with Carter, she gave some insight into how she tries to handle those events during the game.

"It is what it is," Clark said . "I feel like I'm just at the point where you accept it and don't retaliate. Just let them hit you, be what it is, don't let it get in your head and know it's coming. I think at this point, I know I'm gonna take a couple hard shots a game, and that's what it is.

"I'm trying not to let it bother me, and just stay in the game and stay in what's important. Because usually it's the second person that gets caught if you retaliate or something. I'm just trying to stay in the game and focus on my team and focus on what's important."

Fever head coach Christie Sides called Carter's foul "unacceptable" on social media and said "something has to be done."

Clark finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists as the Fever improved to 2-8 on the season.

Predicting Taylor Decker's Contract Extension

Vito chirco | jun 8, 2024.

Taylor Decker

  • Detroit Lions

Taylor Decker , entering his ninth NFL season in 2024, has grown into one of the game's very best left tackles.

In his role with the Lions, Decker serves as the blindside protector of signal-caller Jared Goff . It's an ultra important job that sees the veteran lineman responsible for keeping Goff upright and clean in the pocket on a weekly basis.

Far from an easy task, Decker has been up for the challenge more often than not.

Since 2018, the 6-foot-7, 318-pounder has posted a Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade of 76.3 or better each season. And, in that same time span, he's allowed more than five sacks in a season just twice (2019 and last year).

As for this past season, the 30-year-old was extremely proficient. He logged a career-high 1,243 snaps (counting Detroit's three postseason games), and produced a 79.4 pass-blocking grade (the 14th-best mark among all qualified tackles). For his overall efforts, he earned an 81.1 grade from PFF – his highest overall mark since 2020 – and the ninth-best overall grade among all qualified tackles in 2023.

While not as effective of a run-blocker, he also posted a 73.9 PFF run-blocking mark in ‘23 (his second-best run-blocking grade as a pro). Plus, he played a vital role in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs amassing a combined 1,960 yards on the ground this past season.

In 2024, the ninth-year pro is set to enter the final season of a five-year, $59.65 million contract extension he signed with Detroit in September 2020.

From all accounts, the 2016 first-round pick is open to staying in the Motor City.

“Kind of entry-level conversations, base-level conversations,” Decker said in April, regarding his contract extension talks with the Lions . “I think my agent and the Lions are on the same page, so it’s very much an amicable conversation so far. But, super early stages, nothing of substance really other than, ‘Okay, we’re going to try to figure something out, whether it’s multiple years or it’s not.’”

For this past season, Over the Cap – a go-to website for all things NFL contract and salary cap related – gave Decker a “contract valuation” of $8,577,000. This figure was calculated by measuring Decker's performance and yearly salary in relation to the rest of the league's left tackles.

As of today, the total value of Decker's contract ranks eighth among left tackles. Meanwhile, the average annual value of his contract ($14,912,500) places him 12th at the position.

I think Decker , as part of his next contract, will want to become one of the top-10 highest paid left tackles in the league (on an AAV basis). The Cincinnati Bengals’ Orlando Brown Jr. is currently the 10th-highest paid left tackle, with an average annual salary of $16,023,000.

Yes, Decker will be 32 years of age going into the start of the 2025 season, which could work against him in his negotiations with Detroit . However, on a short-term deal (which I think he and his agent will aim for), it won't be nearly as big of a factor. And, I think the Lions will ultimately give in to satisfy the big man and ensure he retires as a member of the organization.

At this present juncture, I'm going to predict that Decker inks a two-year, $33 million contract extension with Detroit .

Caitlin Clark reacts to controversy after Chennedy Carter's cheap shot

blindside tour

WASHINGTON — After having a few days off for the first time in her rookie season in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark was back Friday, speaking for the first time about the national conversation and controversy that has erupted following Chennedy Carter’s blindside cheap shot nearly a week ago in Indiana’s victory over Chicago.

“Sometimes it stinks how much the conversation is outside of basketball and not the product on the floor and the amazing players that are on the floor and how good they are for their teams and how great this season has been for women’s basketball,” Clark said in reply to a question from USA TODAY Sports after the Fever’s morning shoot-around before Friday night’s game with the Mystics.

“I’m not on social media so I don’t see a lot of it but you would be surprised,” she said. “I still have my TV on in my house and I’m watching sports, you’re still aware of it and you still see it. Other than that, my focus is basketball. …

“But, yeah, I try to block it out. I don’t have social media on my phone, I don’t go on it, I don’t see a lot of it. But I don’t really think it’s that different from when I was in college. Everybody is going to have their opinion, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and that’s just what it is. I think you’ve just got to be focused on what’s in your locker room, what’s in your organization, how your teammates feel, how your coaches feel, and for me that’s my focus but also I have a job to do at the same time so that’s where my focus remains.”

Later Friday, Clark was asked if Carter owed her an apology since her hit was later upgraded to a Flagrant 1.

“You know, no, I mean basketball is competitive, I get it,” Clark said. “Sometimes your emotions get the best of you. Happened to me multiple times throughout the course of my career. People are competitive. It is what it is.”

Clark also praised Carter’s play this year.

“She’s having a tremendous season. She’s played great basketball in my eyes, probably in first place for sixth player of the year, she’s been great off the bench for them, I think she had, what, 25 here last night and really helped them win the game.”

While Clark and the Fever took a couple of days off in the midst of a four-day layoff after playing 11 games in 20 days, six of them against the league’s three top teams, conversation exploded on social media and sports TV about Carter’s hit on Clark.

“I just love playing basketball,” she said. “This is my job, this is what I’m here for. I’m not here for all the other stuff, that’s not what my teammates are here for either, and that goes for the rest of the teams in the league as well. They want to play basketball, that’s what they’ve been doing their entire lives. They’re really good at it.

“I’ve come into this league and I’m trying to learn as much as I can too. I’m 22 years old and there’s a lot of expectations on my shoulders and I feel like I’ve grown a lot and I’m going to continue to grow and it’s been a great learning period for myself and allowing myself a lot of grace at times is really hard because I’m a perfectionist and I want to be really good for our organization, for my teammates.”

Through her first 11 professional games, she said, “I’ve done some really good stuff but also I’ve learned a lot too. At the end of the day, basketball is my job and that’s what I want to focus on most.”

Clark, named WNBA Rookie of the Month for May, is fourth in the league in assists per game, 18th in points per game and tied for third in three pointers. In her first 10 games, she scored more than 150 points and had more than 50 rebounds and 50 assists, a feat previously accomplished only by Sabrina Ionescu in WNBA history.
