  • Ophilia Chapter 4 Note : The cutscenes that trigger after " Unsettling Environs " ends and you walk into the next objective mark in Wispermill lock you into the party you currently have setup, and you cannot change it or fast-travel out of the area until after the cutscene " True Believers " ends.
  • In-between the cutscenes " The Savior Revealed " and " For Her Father's Sake " is the only time either or both of the two party banters - " Chapter 4: Ophilia & Primrose " and " Chapter 4: Ophilia & H'aanit ", can be triggered, and in-between " For Her Father's Sake " and " True Believers " - " Chapter 4: Ophilia & Tressa " and " Chapter 4: Ophilia & Alfyn " can be triggered. Unfortunately, because the above, you cannot see one of those 4 party banters on the same save file as the rest, unless you reload the save.
  • Since you can change the party right after the cutscene " True Believers " ends, you can view both " Chapter 4: Ophilia & Olberic " and " Chapter 4: Ophilia & Cyrus " after you add them back into the party.

Tavern Banter are a form of travel banter that can be played upon entering a Tavern only if the following conditions are met:

  • Any traveler's Chapter 4 Tale is completed; for maximum party management efficiency, it is recommended to complete the first chosen traveler's Chapter 4 Tale before any other.
  • The requisite party members are in the active party when the party enters the tavern, in the order they are shown in the table below.
  • Party visits a Tavern only after visiting/loading into a minimum of 11 different cities/areas in-between different banters, over the course of their journey.
  • When a banter is activated, an invisible "visited tavern" counter resets, and starts back up again after loading into a different area.
  • Moving between two areas repeatedly that were already visited once after the counter starts up again does not count.
  • The banter can also be triggered after loading into different areas first with any party setup, and then changing the party to the required setup for that specific banter.
  • One might save before activating a banter to see them all, by just reloading the save and changing the party, not requiring to move between areas to trigger them.

How to Unlock Travel Banter in Octopath Traveler 2

Image of Daniel Trock

When you spend a lot of time traveling with someone, you tend to get to know them whether you want to or not. It’s not always grand battles or high-speed chases; sometimes you just have a pleasant chat during a quiet moment. These moments in Octopath Traveler 2 help you to get to know your party members and their lives better. Here’s how to unlock Travel Banter in Octopath Traveler 2 .

In Octopath Traveler 2, aside from the brief Crossed Paths sidequests, every one of your party members’ stories is self-contained, with every other party member simply disappearing during their individual story cutscenes. If you’re hoping for more interaction between these characters, though, you can get a small sampling of that through the Travel Banter feature.

Related: Can You Switch Characters in Octopath Traveler 2?

Travel Banter is a series of brief, two-person skits that depict two of your party members chatting during a quiet moment. Sometimes they’ll talk about the current circumstances of their ongoing journey, sometimes they’ll reminisce on their own lives, and sometimes they’ll just banter about something innocuous. It’s a pleasant way to get a bit more insight into what makes these characters tick.

Finding Travel Banter Moments

octopath traveler 2 throne banter

Travel Banter is triggered via a prompt that appears on the top-right of your screen while you’re in the overworld or towns, which is activated by pressing the +/Start button. To make these prompts appear, you’ll need to complete chapters of the party members’ stories, then travel to new towns relevant to those stories. Additionally, if you want them to converse with a particular character, that character also needs to be in your active party. So, for example, if you wanted to hear the story of how Agnea saved up 10,000 Leaves, you would need to complete Chapter Two of Partitio’s story, then enter the town of Wellgrove with Agnea in your party to get the prompt.

Prompts for all relevant Party Banters will appear one after the other. In the event you miss a prompt or don’t have the right character in your party to trigger it, don’t worry; you can find and watch any Travel Banters you fulfilled the conditions for by opening the Main Story tab of the journal, selecting a character, and pressing +/Start. This can also be used to rewatch any Travel Banters you’ve already seen.

While it would be nice to see these characters interact in the main story, Travel Banter is a nice way to get some insight into their personalities and motivations when people aren’t swinging swords around and whatnot.

How To Get Travel Banter In Octopath Travel 2 + Find Missed Banters?

The Travel Banter is a small cutscene that occurs between two Octopath 2 characters, showing their personalities and relationships.

Travel Banters in Octopath 2

The world of Octopath Traveler 2 is full of adventures, and some new features make your journey joyful. From interacting with NPCs to other protagonists, every dialogue shows how well-planned the whole game is. You cannot romance other characters, but the Travel Banter allows you to speak your heart out to other characters.

These interactions occur during different chapters for each protagonist, and a special cutscene shows the characters’ conversations on various but exciting topics. The Travel Banter is a small cutscene between two protagonists, showing the depth of their personalities and relationships. You will feel the connection created through Travel Banter, which brings all the characters into the fold of a single family. So, this mechanism is an integral part of Octopath Traveler 2 .

How to unlock Travel Banter in Octopath 2?

octopath 2 travel banter

The Travel Banter can be unlocked after completing a chapter for any protagonist. You have several chapters to complete for each character, meaning you will get several Travel Banters for each.

After completing the chapter, you should head toward a new town with that protagonist in your party. Having the character whose chapter you have completed in your party is crucial before moving toward the new town. This will ensure that if that particular protagonist has any Travel Banters, those will initiate after you reach the new town.

For example, if you have completed Osvald chapter 2, ensure the Scholar stays in your party until you reach the new town. This will allow you to see the scene unfolding between Osvald and other characters.

How to access missed Travel Banters in Octopath 2?

Missed Travel Banters in Octopath Traveler 2

After completing chapters for each character, keeping up with all the Travel Banters becomes hard. The good thing about this feature is that you can revisit every protagonist’s Travel Banters by heading to the Journal Menu.

You need to open your main menu and then click on the Journal. Here, a list will be provided for each character; select the protagonist you want from the Main story tab, and you will then have access to all the Travel Banters available for that character.

This means you will not miss any interaction between the characters, so do not worry and enjoy your journey in Octopath Traveler 2 .

Octopath Traveler 2: 8 Great Side Quests You Should Not Skip

Octopath traveler 2: how to level up fast, ps plus extra and premium game for june 18 comes at the perfect time, quick links, where to find nameless village in octopath traveler 2, how to visit nameless village early in octopath traveler 2.

It can be easy to get lost while exploring the grand world of Solistia in Octopath Traveler 2 . The number of branching paths, numerous towns and villages, hidden caves, and more, can test even the most veteran explorers. If you intend to complete the storylines of all eight playable characters , you will need to know how to find the elusive Nameless Village in Octopath Traveler 2 . It is one of the most carefully hidden towns in the game, and chances are that you probably walked right past its entrance.

The Nameless Village and The Abandoned Village are two different locations. The former serves as a setting for Temenos' final chapter. The latter does the same for Castti's third chapter.

Side quests are optional side tasks distributed around Solistia and they provide players with amazing rewards when cleared.

The Nameless Village is located on Toto'haha, a small island on the southern borders of Solistia in Octopath Traveler 2 . The easiest starting point would be Beasting Bay: Anchorage above the Beasting Village . Make your way east of the harbor until you come across a mountain. Climb the steps and continue going right to enter the Western Tropu'hopu Traverse, which has a level 32 minimum requirement for a full party.

You can also choose the city of Tropu'hopu as a starting point to get to the Nameless Village in Octopath Traveler 2 . Take the western exit from Tropu'hopu and follow the road to reach the same Western Tropu'hopu Traverse.

Chances are that you have already explored Tropu'hopu as Ochette because Toto'haha serves as her starting region. If so, fast-traveling to Tropu'hopu will be much faster than the Beasting Village to reach the Nameless Village.

In the Western Tropu'hopu Traverse, head west and climb the steps. Then follow the path north through the ruins. There will be a small dock past the treasure chest that leads to the ocean. Take the boat here to enter the Southern Nameless Village Traverse, which has a level 45 requirement .

Sail all the way north to find a series of stone arches. Dock your boat here and follow the stone pathway to enter the Nameless Village in Octopath Traveler 2 . From here on, you can just fast-travel to the Nameless Village to save time.

The Nameless Village is one of the prime locations every player wants to get to as early as possible. While the Beastling town finishes up Temenos' storyline , it also serves as a marketplace to buy powerful early game equipment.

The only problem is that the Southern Nameless Village Traverse is a high-level danger zone. There is, however, a way to clear it while under-leveled to reach the Nameless Village early on to stock up on some of the best weapons in Octopath Traveler 2 .

What you need to do is have the following two sub-jobs in your party: the Scholar's Evasive Maneuvers and the Cleric's Evil Ward . The former reduces the number of random encounters, while the latter makes it easier to escape battles. You will deal with fewer battles, and chances are they will be easy ones. If you do get pitted against harder enemies, or if your chances of winning are slim, just escape and try your luck again.

Castii can use her Inquire path action on the Beastling outside the weapon shop to increase its stock.

Octopath Traveler II's Four Brand-New Boss Battles, Explained

On June 6th, Square Enix announced that both Octopath Traveler games are now available on more platforms . Not only is Octopath Traveler available on PlayStation, but you can play Octopath Traveler 2 on Xbox and Xbox Game Pass. Square Enix released a trailer celebrating the new ports , but eagle-eyed RPG fans noticed something curious about the footage shown. Namely, why is there a shot of the protagonists from Octopath Traveler fighting the cast of Octopath Traveler 2? When did that ever happen in the games!?

It turns out that Square Enix snuck in a little surprise for Octopath Traveler 2 fans amidst all the excitement. As part of Update 1.1.0 , which became available on all platforms on June 6th, four new boss battles were added to the already sprawling RPG. For those who have cleared the main story, a new mode labeled Extra Battles will appear on the main menu for Octopath Traveler 2. In short, these new boss battles are no joke. If you felt Octopath Traveler 2 was too easy for your tastes, you’ll want to open your save file one more time to give these encounters a spin.

Here’s everything you need to know about these new battles.

What are the prerequisites to unlock the Extra Battles in Octopath Traveler II?

According to the 1.1.0 patch notes, the Extra Battles option will become available on the main menu after you clear the main story. However, given the structure of Octopath Traveler 2, that prerequisite can sound a little confusing. Clearing the main story consists of completing all eight characters’ main storylines, clearing the Crossed Paths story, and finishing the Extra Stories that pits your travelers against the game’s true final boss . Make sure to save your game after clearing the final battle, and watch the Epilogue to see the credits roll.

With these requirements out of the way, the “???” option on the main menu should turn into “Extra Battles.” While you’ll want to clear side quests to power up your party, those otherwise aren’t required to access this option. Completing the secret “A Gate Between Worlds” battle is not required to unlock Extra Battles .

If done right, you should be able to load your save file after selecting the Extra Battles option on the main menu. Otherwise, you may get an error message such as “Cannot load saved data. You must clear the extra stories.” Again, in this instance, make sure you save the game after defeating the true final boss.

Who do you fight in the Extra Battles?

The first two sets of battles pit you against the protagonists of Octopath Traveler. The Majestic Mysterious Travelers consists of Ophilia , Alfyn , Tressa , and Olberic . Meanwhile, the Mastery Mysterious Travelers makes you face off against Primrose , Therion , H’aanit , and Cyrus .

They were so close to ordering the protagonists so the first letters of their names spell out “Octopath.” I guess “Oatopthc” is close enough.

The other two Extra Battles are super-powered versions of the true final boss’ two phases. While this is a continuous encounter in the main story, here you have to beat phase one to unlock the second phase as a standalone battle (it’ll show up as “???” in the menu before you do). This is just as well: The One Who Denies The Dawn packs a serious punch, and it can take over half an hour to clear both of these fights. Make sure you power up all eight of your travelers and equip them with your best gear. You’re going to need it.

What is your reward for clearing the Extra Battles?

These four extra boss battles are just here for bragging rights. There are no achievements tied to completing them, and there’s no reward or secret cutscene to unlock either. If these fights are too difficult for your tastes, you’re under no obligation to clear them.

That said, I recommend at least dipping your toes into the fights against Octopath Traveler’s protagonists. There are some neat mechanics that you’ll see here, and there are even newly voiced lines from the original cast. It’s really cool, especially for the unceremonious way this update was released. But if you do put in the time to complete all four of these battles, feel free to celebrate your accomplishment. You’ll have absolutely earned it.

Original Octopath Traveler Will Seemingly Join Its Sequel on PlayStation

Octopath Traveler will seemingly join its sequel on PlayStation 4 and 5 as the game was rated for distribution in Taiwan.

As reported by Gematsu , the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated Octopath Traveler for PS4 and PS5 alongside Octopath Traveler 2 for Xbox Series X and S (which was previously announced). A ratings board approving a game is often a strong signal its release is coming, and more than likely soon.

Octopath Traveler has unusually complex availability. Originally a Nintendo Switch exclusive, the first game later came to PC and Xbox but not PlayStation platforms. Its sequel came straight to Nintendo, PlayStation, and PC, but skipped Xbox altogether.

T he confirmed release of Octopath Traveler 2 on Xbox , however, alongside this seemingly impending release of the original on PlayStation, will finally put both Octopath Traveler games on all contemporary platforms.

Octopath Traveler is inspired by classic Japanese role-playing games and offers similar turn-based combat in its trademark HD-2D style, which sees 2D characters moving through high quality, stylized backgrounds.

As the name suggests, players take on the roles of eight different characters as they each embark on an individual journey but cross paths and team up along the way.

In IGN's 9/10 review , we said: "Octopath Traveler's beautiful style and outstanding take on traditional turn-based combat make it a game that pushes JRPGs forward rather than simply paying homage to the greats."

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.

Octopath Traveler has been rated for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in Taiwan.
