Casinos | kali uchis is coming to yaamava’ resort & casino in october, the colombian-american singer added a stop at the highland casino on her fall tour..

kali uchis tour oct 1

Tickets for the show start at $75 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, July 24 at yaamava.com . Uchis will be out on tour in support of her latest album, “Red Moon In Venus,” which includes other Southern California stops at the Viejas Arena in San Diego on Friday, Sept. 22 and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 30.

While the Colombian-American singer will headline massive arenas and outdoor theaters on this tour, the show inside the more intimate, 2,5000-3,000-seat Yaamava’ Theater will surely be a special performance. The casino venue has hosted several big-name artists lately, including Janet Jackson, New Kids on the Block and Maná .

Uchis debuted her mixtape “Drunken Babble” in 2012, which illustrated her musical style that incorporates doo-wop, reggae and early ’00s R&B. Within a couple of years, she caught the ear of rapper Snoop Dogg and collaborated with him on his mixtape, “That’s My Work 3,” on the track “On Edge.”

She dropped the “Por Vida” EP in 2015 and her star-studded debut album, “Isolation,” which featured collaborations with Jorja Smith, Tyler, The Creator, Gorillaz and Bootsy Collins, was released in 2018. She was also featured on Kaytranada’s single “10%,” which won the Grammy Award for best dance recording in 2021.

She was a fan-favorite on the main Coachella Stage at the 2023 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio in April and brought out Tyler, The Creator and Omar Apollo.

Kali Uchis Extends ‘Red Moon in Venus’ Tour With Six New Fall Dates

By Tomás Mier

Kali Uchis ‘ Red Moon in Venus era is not over yet. On Tuesday, the Colombian-American singer announced six new dates for her 2023 tour later this fall.

Uchis will start her new run of dates in San Diego before making her way to Oakland, Las Vegas, Sacramento, and Los Angeles’ storied Hollywood Bowl. Dominican musician Tokischa will join her on the road for all six dates, while Buscabulla will also perform on her Los Angeles date.

The shows include dates on the west coast that were not allowed on her previous tour — which ran from late April through the end of May — due to Coachella’s radius clause, which prevents acts from performing in Southern California for up to three months before and after the music festival.

“Between swaying, singing, and interacting with her dancers (at one point, they became a throne for her to sit on while addressing fans), Uchis gave a polished and elegant performance,” read a Rolling Stone review of her Red Moon in Venus tour stop in New York City in May.

So disappointing. The sound was terrible, we couldn't hear anything. Songs were cut, the stage set up (if you want to call a giant sheet hung in the background a set up) was laughable.

It was sad to see such an artist reduced to a few dance moves.

Kali was absolutely mesmerizing. She shines like diamonds and her stage presence is like no other. I knew the show would be great but I never imagined it would be as a amazing as it was. I’ve falling more into the beautiful aura that Kali Uchis radiates.

Amazing concert! The opener Gabriel Garzon-Montano was spectacular and surprisingly better live. Kali Uchis was so awesome, she was sick but still sounded even better live than on her album! She did an amazing encore and interacted with the entire crowd. Best concert I’ve ever been to.

Tokischa at Reggaetonlandia: Can one of the hottest parties in downtown L.A. get any hotter? Well, it might be fall, but it’ll be sweltering at Reggaetonlandia when Dominican rapper Tokischa hits the stage. The 27-year-old dembow star surprised fans when she joined Rosalia at Coachella and most recently collaborated with Bad Gyal and Young Miko in “Chulo.” Expect to hear the trap, dembow and reggaeton beats on “Delincuente” and “Eztilazo.”

Canciones de Mi Madre: Produced in conjunction with Solidarity for Sanctuary, “ Canciones de Mi Madre” offers a trip through Linda Ronstadt’s legendary mariachi album from 1987, but with a twist, as all the performers are from Los Angeles. The iconic songs from the album helped in the rebirth of mariachi in the United States. Throughout the concert, her songs are reimagined in a call to a new generation of fans to preserve the tradition of the mariachi. Lupita Infante, granddaughter of the legendary Pedro Infante, leads the cast of this new generation of mariachis. Infante will be accompanied by Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas, el El Gallo Dez y and the singer-songwriter Doris Anahí, the founder of Solidarity for Sanctuary.

Banda El Recodo y Majo Aguilar: The so-called Madre de todas las Bandas, the legendary Banda El Recodo returns to Los Angeles after a long absence. Don’t wait, order Kali Uchis tickets today to see the Grammy-nominated Colombian singer live. Kali Uchis' genre bending style can be described as soul , bedroom pop, elastic funk and bossa nova but she ties it all together with her jazzy vocals. She seeks out the strange and obscure in her music and doesn’t stick to a singular vocal style or aesthetic.

Kali Uchis grew up between Colombia and Northern Virginia and learned to play piano and the saxophone in high school. At 17, Kali was thrown out of her parents' house and lived out of her car where she wrote songs. She reconciled with her parents and put out 17 songs in one night with her mixtape Drunken Babble . The mixtape caught the attention of Snoop Dogg, Gorillaz and Tyler, the Creator and shot her into fame. The left-field pop artist took three years to create her debut album Isolation . She took her time because she has never been about making mindless, catchy pop songs. Kali Uchis Brings Class & Jazz to Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024

Kali Uchis was a woman of few words at the Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024 gala, where she let her music speak for her as she was honored as Rising Star on Sunday (June 9)’s telecast. Although her acceptance speech was the shortest of the night, the Colombian-American singer-songwriter shined with a class-act performance.

Uchis, in a long black dress and her hair in an updo, performed a stripped-down version of her hit “Igual Que un Ángel,” originally recorded with Peso Pluma and part of her latest Spanish-language album, Orquídeas , which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on Top Latin Albums.

Accompanied only by piano and trumpet, the Grammy winner showcased her voice with a jazzy arrangement that added elegance to the show. Moments after her performance, Peso Pluma appeared on screen to present, through a video, the award to his “friend,” whom he called “a talented and multifaceted woman who even took me out of my comfort zone.”

“Many thanks to Billboard and many thanks, first of all, to God for this life, for giving me the opportunity to always grow, and to my fans,” Uchis said, as she received a standing ovation from the audience.

Singer, songwriter and producer Kali Uchis has successfully alternated between English and Spanish-language projects, and has defied musical genres by blending elements of R&B, neo-soul, pop and Latin rhythms. Her smash hit “Telepatía” has more than two billion plays and is the longest Spanish-language song by a solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100 this decade, with a 23-week streak.

In its second annual edition, Billboard Latin Women in Music also honored Karol G as Woman of the Year, Gloria Estefan as Legend, La India as Pioneer, Ana Bárbara with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Ángela Aguilar with the Music Dynasty Award, Camila Cabello with the Global Impact Award, and Kany García with the Spirit of Change Award.

In addition to airing on Telemundo on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, the ceremony is also available on the Telemundo app and Peacock.

Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift’s Tortured Duet, and 8 More New Songs

Hear tracks by Mavis Staples, Jamie xx featuring Robyn, Rakim and others.

Every Friday, pop critics for The New York Times weigh in on the week’s most notable new tracks. Listen to the Playlist on Spotify here (or find our profile: nytimes) and at Apple Music here , and sign up for The Amplifier , a twice-weekly guide to new and old songs.

Gracie Abrams featuring Taylor Swift, ‘ Us. ’

The title of the singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams’s second album, “The Secret of Us,” comes from this feverish duet with her friend and onetime tour mate Taylor Swift. “If history’s clear, someone always ends up in ruins,” Abrams, 24, sings breathily through a thicket of fingerpicked notes, the signature sound of her and Swift’s mutual collaborator Aaron Dessner, who co-produced the track with Jack Antonoff. (Dessner’s band the National gets a shout out toward the end of the song, when Abrams sings of being “mistaken for strangers.”) Midway through, the wise elder Swift swoops in to put Abrams’s youthful heartbreak in perspective. “If history’s clear, the flames always end up in ashes,” she sings. “And what seemed like fate, give it 10 months and you’ll be past it.” LINDSAY ZOLADZ

Jamie xx featuring Robyn, ‘ Life ’

The latest single from Jamie xx’s long-awaited second album “In Waves” pairs playful and effortlessly cool vocals from Robyn with a thumping, skittish beat intercut with lively horn samples. Her personality shines brightest on the bridge, when she throws out some vampy non-sequiturs and dissolves into giggles at one of them: “You’re giving me strong torso .” Whatever you say, Robyn! ZOLADZ

Mavis Staples, ‘ Worthy ’

Mavis Staples preaches self-affirmation in “Worthy”: “When they try to kick you, don’t let yourself get down,” she urges. Written and produced by a team including Amanda Warner, a.k.a. MNDR, “Worthy” has Staples bouncing her inimitably husky voice against a soul horn section and a funk beat that heads toward James Brown territory, with just a few electronic tweaks to place the song in the 21st century. JON PARELES

Rakim, Kurupt and Masta Killa, ‘ Be Ill ’

Rakim, the grandmaster of multileveled wordplay and internal rhymes since the 1980s, has re-emerged to preview his first album since 2009, “G.O.D.S Network (Reb7rth).” In “Be Ill,” a brooding, midtempo track that he produced, he’s joined by two of his many admirers, Kurupt and Masta Killa, and he calmly and efficiently raps about being “a conscious lyricist, atom splitter/complex as quantum physics is.” PARELES

Peso Pluma and Cardi B, ‘ Put Em in the Fridge ’

Peso Pluma ’s new album, “Exodo” (“Exodus,” another biblical title following “Génesis” last year), is a double album: one disc of Mexican-rooted music, the other claiming connections across the Americas, especially to hip-hop and reggaeton. “Put Em in the Fridge” has Peso Pluma rapping, not singing, alongside Cardi B, atop a track that uses trap percussion and deep bass below samples of Mexican-style guitar and horns. Rapping in Spanish and English, Peso Pluma mixes threats and boasts: “40 shooters if I send ’em in they coming in/50 kilos if you need them then they coming in.” He’s not belligerent, just matter-of-fact. PARELES

Kehlani, ‘ Next 2 U ’

“I never, never, no no, thought I could put anybody before me,” Kehlani sings in “Next 2 U,” sounding both astonished and pugnacious; it’s from her new album, “Crash.” The song is an onrush of shifting moods — devotion, gratitude, protectiveness, intimacy, possessiveness, wonder — mirrored by a quick-changing structure. In under three minutes, the track moves through choral harmonies, brittle programmed beats, meter changes and vocals that veer from ethereal to aggressive: all the euphoria and uncertainty of new love. PARELES

Kali Uchis, ‘ Never Be Yours ’

Kali Uchis has reclaimed a song from her 2012 mixtape, “ Drunken Babble,” to make it even more luxuriously twisted. The production offers posh, slowly swaying two-chord bliss, with wind chimes, echoey guitars, tinkling glockenspiel and cooing backup vocals. But Uchis isn’t basking in romance; she’s ending a shallow, materialistic relationship: “You changed, here’s your receipt,” she sings. “I’ll never be yours nohow.” PARELES

The Japanese House, ‘ :) ’

Amber Bain, an English songwriter who records as the Japanese House, offers a (rare) positive testimonial to a dating app in a song titled with the smiley-face emoticon. “Talking to someone who I’ve never met/Thank you God for making internet,” she sings over buoyant folk-rock picking, full of eager anticipation for a transcontinental rendezvous. PARELES

RP Boo and Armand Hammer, ‘ Blood Running High ’

The Chicago footwork D.J. and producer RP Boo backs the hip-hop duo Armand Hammer — Billy Woods and Elucid — with sputtering drum-machine beats and samples of Sun Ra’s big-band horn arrangements and spoken words in this track from a new Red Hot Org compilation album, “Outer Spaceways Incorporated: Kronos Quartet and Friends Meet Sun Ra,” which also has material from Moor Mother, Jlin, Laurie Anderson and Terry Riley. “Blood running high, gas selling low” goes the refrain, over fluctuating beats. “The universe is very delicate, and everything you do here affects other beings,” Sun Ra advises. “It reaches all the way up to God.” As the track unfolds, RP Boo latches onto a swinging horn-section passage, then dissolves back into abstraction. PARELES
