Reglement Swiss Jump Tour

Etappe 1. = 12 Punkte 2. = 10 Punkte 3. = 8 Punkte 4. = 6 Punkte 5. = 5 Punkte 6. = 4 Punkte 7. = 3 Punkte 8. = 2 Punkte

Final 1. = 18 Punkte 2. = 15 Punkte 3. = 12 Punkte 4. = 10 Punkte 5. = 9 Punkte 6. = 8 Punkte 7. = 7 Punkte 8. = 6 Punkte

Trip Information

Sep 11 - 18, 2024

  • Cycle through valleys and along lakes in the Swiss Alps
  • Extra night in the adrenaline capital of Europe: Interlaken
  • Spa hotels in Swiss villages
  • Swiss chocolate & cheese around every corner
  • Picnic lunches on Swiss mountain sides EVERY DAY
  • Two words: MORE COWBELL!

Switzerland is a cyclist’s DREAM. From Lake Geneva to Lake Lucerne, we will cycle approximately 150 miles through the breath-taking Swiss Alps, staying at spa hotels, indulging in fondue, and filling up on Swiss chocolate and cheese (and wine!), with a soundtrack of cowbells all along the way. The beauty of Switzerland is so all-consuming, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported into a living painting.

I can’t wait to travel on another trip planned by Jackie. She found the best guides, the best locations and the accommodations were so unique and beautiful. This trip will always hold a special place in my heart and memory for all the fun, special moments, special people and special experiences we had.

DAY 1: Arrival in Vevey on Lake Geneva

Welcome to Switzerland! Arrival and transportation on your own to Vevey, a picturesque town on the shores of Lake Geneva, where Charlie Chaplin once lived and is still celebrated. Vevey is known for its WINE and we are staying at a SPA hotel (ahem, you might want to arrive early). We will have a meet and greet with our fabulous guide and new travel buddies at our hotel at 6pm (details will be provided to registered participants).

  • Accommodation: Astra Hotel or similar

DAY 2: Vevey to Gruyères

After breakfast we will set out on our first day of cycling through the Swiss Alps, starting with a little climb up to a valley boasting gorgeous green meadows, farmland, and of course – cows! Today we’re on a mission for chocolate and cheese, as one of our first extra activities is a tour of a local CHOCOLATE factory, before we arrive to our destination of Gruyères (yes, exactly like the CHEESE).

  • Accommodation: Hôtel de Gruyères or similar
  • Meals: B, D
  • Cycling Details: approx. distance 40 – 50 km, 600 – 855 m elevation gain and 500 – 735 m loss

DAY 3: Gruyères to Gstaad

Our first order of business today is CHEESE. We will start our day with a tour of the Gruyères Cheese factory before heading out on our ride, which will insert us directly into that Postcard Switzerland we all dream about. Cows, snow-capped peaks, quiet country lanes, tiny chapels, cable cars, and local traditions. The hardest part of today is actually getting anywhere, because the urge to stop for photos nearly every second is SO STRONG.

  • Accommodation: Hotel Alphorn or similar
  • Cycling Details: approx. distance 40 km, 735 m elevation gain and 410 m loss

DAY 4: Gstaad to Lake Thun/Interlaken

We continue our adventure through picture-perfect Switzerland today, flanked by alps and criss-crossed by local train tracks. Today’s route takes us on a ferry across the gorgeous Lake Thun as we approach our destination and the adrenaline capital of Europe: Interlaken.

  • Accommodation: Hotel Dorint-Essential or similar
  • Cycling Details: approx. distance 55 km, elevation gain 740 m and 1’150 m loss

DAY 5: Day off at Interlaken

We built this day in because Interlaken deserves an extra day! Today is a totally free day, so if you feel like jumping off a cliff with wings, you can! If you feel like taking a cable car up to the Jungfrau for a hike and fondue on top of a mountain, you can! If you feel like hanging out at our adorable spa hotel and people watching right there on the terra firma of beautiful Interlaken town, you can! Or perhaps you want to take your bike for an extra spin. We will provide a few suggestions, but this day is entirely up to you. We stay in the same hotel to make it extra easy for you, so you can go do your thing.

  • Cycling Details: none
  • Activity ideas: Start here!

DAY 6: Lake Thun/Interlaken to Lake Sarnen

Fighting the urge once again to stop every 10m for photos, we will pack up our picnic lunches and make our way along the idyllic, jaw-dropping blue lakes of the Interlaken area into a valley where Swiss fighter jets fly. An optional train ride (or you can do it by bike!) will take us up the steep Brünigpass to Obwalden: a big valley with scattered villages and more scenic lakes.

  • Accommodation: Hotel Bahnhof Giswil or similar
  • Cycling Details: approx. distance 60 km, elevation gain 1‘145m and 1‘200 m loss

DAY 7: Lake Sarnen to Lake Lucernce

Our last full day of cycling is a bit of a shorter distance so that we can have more time in our final destination. Our route will lead us to the beautiful valley of Lake Lucerne, with the town of Lucerne and Pilatus Peak in view. Tonight we have a special farewell dinner of FONDUE, because CHEESE.

  • Accommodation: Hotel Seeburg or similar
  • Cycling Details: approx. distance 35 km, elevation gain 240 m and 310 m loss

DAY 8: Departure from Lake Lucerne

Breakfast is included at the hotel, and this concludes our gorgeous week together in the Swiss Alps.

Departure is on your own.

TRIP LEADER & GUIDE

Guide: Meet Senad (if you haven’t already)!

Swiss Alps Cycle Tour Guide

We met Senad three years ago in Croatia and spent two weeks cycle touring with him there, and now he lives in the Alps – so guess what! He’ll be with us every step of the way in Switzerland.

Senad has been guiding cycling tours for 10 years in 6 different countries. That’s about 6,000 guests and over 25,000 kilometers. He is curious, he likes to eat all sorts of things, he loves to laugh, and he is definitely not shy about making a fool of himself on occasion. ( Two words: belly flop. IYKYK)

We LOVE Senad and are so excited to have him back for another JUMP cycling trip. We are 1000% certain you will love him too.

YOUR JUMP TOUR LEADER IS YET TO BE ANNOUNCED, stand by!

Here’s our best advice on bike choice if you aren’t sure which to get:

  • E-bikes take the stress out of the journey, they are very easy to use, we recommend them for everyone.
  • Touring bikes are for those who LOVE the grind and are ready to go full beast mode, all day, everyday.

👉[Insert epic picnics on Swiss mountainsides here]. One of our favorite parts of this tour is that lunch is what and where you make it! Each morning before setting out for our ride, we’ll stop at the local COOP so you can buy whatever you feel like eating that day. We suggest salami, baguette, cheese, chocolate, and an iced tea or juice. This will be your road snacks and picnic lunch every day. We love this because it allows us to sample as much or as little of the local flavors as we’d like.

FLIGHT & TRANSPORTATION

This trip starts in Vevey, Switzerland on Lake Geneva and ends in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Nearby airports include Geneva (airport code GVA) and Zurich (airport code ZRH). You will need to take a train to and from Vevey and Lucerne on either end of the trip.

We are happy to review your potential flight schedule for you to make sure you’re getting the right times, dates, and airports!

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Deposits are non-refundable. Please click here to view our Booking Terms & Conditions . Each participant is highly encouraged to purchase CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason insurance) as soon as you book your trip, to protect your travel investment as well as have personal luggage and medical coverage, not to mention peace of mind! Click here to get quotes from our trusted travel insurance partner .

PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENT

We will bike somewhere around 150 miles throughout our trip. This is a big deal and will be a huge accomplishment. On top of biking, you will also be eating lots of chocolate and cheese, and all of this takes training!

A proficient level of physical fitness is essential for this trip, even with an e-bike. We recommend training – getting some good bike rides or long hikes and other workouts in beforehand to prepare for this amount of cycling.

It’s also a great idea to practice biking in the shoes you plan to wear, as you will be in them for a majority of the time. It’s worth being in great shape so you can recover quickly and feel your best every day on the trail, and so we can keep the group together with a good pace.

We specifically recommend nuun tablets for electrolyte replacement and hydration during the days, compression socks to wear each evening for improved blood flow and fast recovery, and emergen-C packets to start each day with a boost of energy. These are in addition to physical fitness, they do NOT replace your training. And don’t worry, when the miles get you down, just turn your e-assist UP. 😉

We will have luggage support every day, so our main luggage is transferred to our next hotel while we ride. Each participant will have one pannier to pack day use items and lunch for the ride. Please keep your main baggage to one item per person.

A recommended Packing List will be provided to registered participants. Helmets are provided if you’d like one – please request upon booking.

GoldenEye Bungee Jump in the Verzasca Valley

Bungee jumping is a special experience in the Verzasca Valley of Ticino. Since the James Bond movie "GoldenEye", the Gordola dam is famous all over the world and attracts more and more adventurers. It is 220 m high and perfectly suited for a spectacular jump. A ramp helps to leave enough safety distance from the wall. The Lago di Vogorno reservoir is not far from Locarno .

  • Prescribed weight GoldenEye Bungee Jump: 45 to 115 kg

The Verzasca Valley is famous for its countless waterfalls and crystal clear water. The stone bridge in Lavertezzo is a popular destination. The Ponte dei Salti (Bridge of Jumps) lets visitors jump the 14 meters directly into the Verzasca River.

  • GoldenEye Bungee Jump jumping possibilities

The spectacular depth of the jump is perfect for trying out different types of jumps. The classic bungee jump is the jump like in the movie GoldenEye: headfirst

But there are more possibilities.

The Classic Jump is also offered at night

In the Simmental of the beautiful Bernese Oberland, you take the Stockhorn cable car from Erlenbach to Hinterstockensee. On the way you jump directly from the gondola in 134 m height. You will get a bird's eye view of the picturesque landscape with the Hinterstockensee.

Offer at Swiss Activities:

Bungee Jumping Centovalli in Intragna in Ticino

The Centovalli Railway is a narrow-gauge train that runs through the valleys of Ticino in a breathtaking route. In Intragna there is a bridge bungy center. Here you can jump from one of the bridges 70 meters into the depth

The mountain rivers in the area are ideal for canyoning . The railroad bridge is also directly connected to the largest high ropes course in Europe.

  • Centovalli Bungee Jumps Jumping possibilities

The classic jump is possible here as well as a tandem jump

  • Prescribed weight: 40 to 160 kg
  • Canyon Swing Glacier Gorge Grindelwald

In the middle of the Glacier Gorge Grindelwald the Canyon Swing is offered. You jump from a jumping height of about 90 m about 50 m into the depth of the canyon. You reach an acceleration of up to 120 km/h

Unlike bungee jumping, you don't fall headfirst, but are attached to your hips and swing through the canyon. Your free fall is gently transitioned into a rocking motion.

  • Bungy Niouc in the Adventure Park in Valais

The suspension bridge Niouc is Europe's highest suspension bridge. In the Sport and Adventure Park Niouc you jump from 190 m height into the deep valley. Already the 100 m long footpath over the suspension bridge generates a lot of adrenaline. At the jumping point you can't see the ground below you.

To get into the right mood, you can use the Giant Swing Pendulum with a speed of 200 km/h or the roller coaster in the Adventure Park

Bungee jumping in Switzerland will take you to the most beautiful and unusual places in Switzerland. You will never forget this adrenaline-filled experience for the rest of your life. And maybe it will make you dare to do more bungee jumps

If you have great pictures of your bungee jump (which we assume you do), please link to us at @swiss_activities on Instagram. We are happy about every photo or video

Gletscherschlucht Grindelwald (Foto: Outdoor Interlaken)

Table of contents

In this sport, you jump headfirst from a high structure into the depths. You are in free fall. This is delimited above the ground by a rubber rope. The elastic rope is attached to your body and to the jumping platform. The length of the elastic is adjusted to your body weight. The rope is elastic and therefore bounces you back up several times until it swings out. Jumps are usually made from bridges or towers. In some cases, cranes are erected specifically for jumping off

This sport is practiced between April and October. It does not take place in dense fog or thunderstorms, as well as overflowing dams.

You may not participate if you have the following health restrictions

  • Heart problems
  • Ocular hypertension
  • Recent eye surgery
  • High blood pressure
  • Damage to the musculoskeletal system
  • chronic ear diseases with balance disorders. In case of doubt, the attending physician must decide whether a bungee jump is possible.

Verzasca Dam - 007 GoldenEye

According the global surveys it is the best stunt in film history: Bond's jump from the 220 meter high Verzasca dam in the movie "GoldenEye". And the ultimate adrenaline rush at Lago di Vogorno is also called 007 jump or GoldenEye Bungee Jump.

In the service of Her Majesty, 007 (played by Pierce Brosnan) plunged with a rubber rope into the depths. 7.5 seconds free fall, 220 altitude meters, parallel to the impressive dam. The 380 meter long and 220 meter high dam wall, called the Contra, is the fourth highest in Switzerland. It is located 470 meters above sea level, at the exit to the Verzasca Valley, a rustic valley with an appealing landscape. The Contra Dam can be reached from Gordola via a two kilometer long section of road. The jumping station is in the middle of the dam wall. It is the world's highest stationary bungee station. A reservation is absolutely essential for those planning to take the 007 Jump or GoldenEye Bungee Jump.

DAY 1: WELCOME TO CHAMONIX

Our itinerary begins with your arrival day. If you’re flying into Geneva airport, our transfer partners will meet you there and take you to our hotel in the Chamonix Valley. Our airport transfer is included between 6:30 am and 7:30 pm, please inform LHO Base Camp of your arrival and departure times. For those meeting us directly at the hotel, your LHO Team Leader will be there to greet you. Hotel check-in typically begins at 3 pm, but if you arrive early, you can store your bags and explore the area. Your Team Leader will send you a list of things to do in Chamonix closer to the time. If you need to rent or purchase additional gear, arriving early is advisable as gear shops usually close at 7 pm. We usually aim for an early start the following day before the shops open. In the evening, we’ll have a team dinner and briefing at 7:30 pm, hosted by your Team Leader and lead mountain guide. This will be your first opportunity to meet your fellow adventurers, ask questions, and get excited about the week ahead. Gear checks will be organized by your LHO Team Leader throughout the day based on your arrival times to ensure you have everything you need for the week.

DAY 2: THE SPECTACULAR LAC BLANC

Distance: 8.5 KM | Ascent: 148 M | Descent: 1299 M | Max Altitude: 2,595 M

Our first day of trekking starts with a breathtaking view. After breakfast, we’ll depart from the hotel and take public transport to the Flegere Cable car. From there, we’ll ride the cable car and chair lift to the highest accessible point, called l’index. This is where our Tour du Mont Blanc trail begins. The views are indescribable, with the Mont Blanc massif in front of us, the Aiguilles Rouges towers directly above, and the entire Chamonix valley below. We’ll trek eastward towards Lac Blanc, a trail that takes about two hours over a mix of well-worn paths and rocky terrain. Lac Blanc is a truly beautiful location, known for its turquoise waters and reflections of Mont Blanc. Weather permitting, we’ll have ample time to take pictures, and this spot usually serves as our picnic location. After leaving Lac Blanc, we’ll follow a descending trail toward the valley floor, in the direction of Argentiere, a town to the east of Chamonix. The descent is long and quite challenging but manageable. Trekking poles, especially for long descents, are highly recommended to protect our knees for the journey ahead. Our evening will be spent in Argentiere or the neighboring Le Tour, where you can look forward to hot showers and delicious food.

DAY 3: OVER THE PASS INTO SWITZERLAND

Distance: 13 KM | Ascent: 832 M | Descent: 1019 M | Max Altitude: 2,201 M

We’ll catch an early bus from Argentiere to Le Tour to avoid a less interesting road section and get right onto the trail for our first significant ascent of the trip. If we stayed in Le Tour the previous night, no bus transfer is needed. From Le Tour, we’ll trek up to the Col du Balme, the natural border between France and Switzerland. With Mont Blanc behind us and the Swiss Alps opening ahead, this trail’s most beautiful feature is the view of the Le Tour glacier to our right, which can feel incredibly close. The path passes through berry fields and cow pastures as it winds its way to the high point of the day. There’s a charming coffee shop at the mountain pass where we often take a break, weather permitting. We typically have our picnic lunch in an open field with fantastic views of the glacier-capped mountains. From the pass, we start our descent into Switzerland, heading for the town of Trient. The approach to the town passes through a dense alpine forest, and a notable feature is the pink church in the town’s center. Our evening will be spent in Trient.

DAY 4: FOLLOWING THE BLACK COWS TO THE LAKE

Distance: 14 KM | Ascent: 972 M | Descent: 805 M | Max Altitude: 2,043 M

After breakfast, our trek begins with an ascent to Col de la Forclaz. Our LHO Community highly recommends the berry cakes served at the cafe at the pass, so we’ve made a stop there an essential part of the day. Once we’ve all had our fix, we’ll continue along the trail into a deep forest that leads us to the region known as Bovine. The name comes from the black cows living in the pastures on the slopes. When we reach the high point, we’ll find a clearing for lunch before descending toward Champex-Lac. The descent through the forest is somewhat similar to the previous day. The closer we get to the valley floor, the deeper the alpine forest becomes. The final section of the trail includes a gentle incline into Champex-Lac, the last Swiss village we’ll stay in before crossing into Italy.

DAY 5: BUONGIORNO ITALIA!

Distance: 9.8 KM | Ascent: 770 M | Descent: 788 M | Max Altitude: 2,537 M

Our day begins with a one-hour private van transfer to La Fouley. We avoid walking this section, which largely follows the roadside and would necessitate adding an extra trekking day to the trip. The trail starts in La Fouley, where we’ll ascend open pastures with incredible views toward the Grand Col Ferret, the natural border between Switzerland and Italy. Mont Dolent, the only Mont Blanc summit split between France, Switzerland, and Italy, looms above the pass. The Swiss-Italian summit of Grand Combin is behind us, and ahead is the spectacular Val Ferret and the impressive walls characterizing the Italian side of Mont Blanc. The descent from the col is relatively steep but manageable. You’ll notice a change in language as trekkers switch from the customary French trail greeting of “bonjour” to the Italian “buongiorno.” At the base of the descent, an Italian mountain refuge offers the opportunity to savor your first Italian espresso! We won’t spend too much time here, aiming to arrive in the town of Courmayeur early enough to explore before shops close. After leaving the refuge, we’ll continue along the trail for an hour before taking a local bus to the town center. Our hotel in town provides a delightful treat after three days of walking and a chance to rest, relax, and sample the coffee and Aperol spritzes of this chic Italian resort town. Dinner will be hosted by your LHO Team Leader and guide at a local restaurant.

DAY 6: THE INCREDIBLE VAL VENY

Distance: 14.4 KM | Ascent: 856 M | Descent: 790 M | Max Altitude: 2,516 M

This day holds a special place in our hearts and is a favorite among all our LHO Team Leaders. It offers stunning views of Mont Blanc from the Italian side and includes beautiful lakes, streams, forests, and open pastures. After breakfast, we’ll take a short bus ride to leave the town heading west. The bus ride is brief, and we’re soon on the trail, following a rushing river through a dense forest. As we gradually ascend, the tree line opens to reveal the entire valley ahead. The rivers and lakes here are fed by glacier melt from the southern slopes of Mont Blanc. We’ll pass through wetlands and cross rivers before making a more direct ascent toward Col de la Seigne. Though it may appear long, the ascent is divided into a series of steeper and flatter sections that make it pass quickly. We typically have a picnic at the pass, weather permitting, though it can be quite windy here even on sunny days. As we begin the descent, you’ll notice the language change as trekkers switch from “buongiorno” to the customary “bonjour” of the French side. We re-enter France in the Beaufort region, renowned for its cheese. The winding descent is long, but with views like these, you won’t want it to end. Upon reaching the valley floor, we’ll follow a farming road to the local bus stop and catch a ride to the small farming town of Les Chapieux, our home for the night. There’s no mobile network coverage here, so it’s a good idea to inform your loved ones that you might be out of reach for a night. However, our LHO Base Camp team receives regular updates and can assist your loved ones should they inquire about you.

DAY 7: CLOSING THE CIRCLE

Distance: 13.8 KM | Ascent: 709 M | Descent: 1297 M | Max Altitude: 2,408 M

After breakfast, we’ll join the ascending trail to Col de la Croix de Bonhomme. Our final significant ascent begins just outside the hut as we make our way to Col de la Croix du Bonhomme, the pass connecting the Beaufort and Les Contamines regions in France. This is the westernmost part of Mont Blanc. From here, we start trekking eastward, gradually making our way back to our starting point. The ascent features open fields and views of the Vanoise massif behind us. At the top of the ascent is a mountain refuge, where you can grab a coffee and enjoy your packed lunches. The trail continues along a rocky path for a few hundred meters before starting to descend. We re-enter the thick alpine forest for the lower altitude portion of the descent and cross a deep gorge with rushing water. The trail ends at the famous church Notre Dame de la Gorge. From there we will be taking a short ride back to Chamonix, where warm showers, great food, and free time for exploration await. In the evening, we’ll have a team dinner at a local restaurant or hotel, hosted by your LHO Team Leader, and the first round of drinks is on us!

DAY 8: AU REVOIR!

Our last day together is dedicated to airport transfers and farewells. Breakfast is included. Please ensure you provide accurate departure details when filling out your team details form. If there are any changes to your travel plans, please inform your LHO Team Leader as early as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

I did the TMB circuit and it was a life time experience. LHO team was amazing and exceeded my expectation by putting our needs first. The whole trip from the minute I was picked up from the airport to when I left was full of care, love and excellent service. For me personally, this trip was on my radar since years and LHO made it happen easily and smoothly. LHO had a dynamic way in communicating with the group and keep us posted. I strongly wish and recommend this experience to all my friends and loved ones. Thank you Jad, Rami, Ghida for your service of excellence.

Not sure what you are looking for?

Top questions.

Are there porters on this trip? What do we need for our backpacks?

There are no porters on the Tour du Mont Blanc trip. However, we do offer a hut to hut baggage transfer up to 10 KG per person. No hard-shell suitcases allowed. Your personal backpack should not be bigger than 30 liters and should not exceed 4 KGs in weight. The best way to avoid overpacking is to stick to the gear list we provide. Anything you don't need for the trail, such as your travel luggage, can be kept in Chamonix.

Is altitude a concern on this adventure? What’s the highest altitude we’ll reach?

We'll be well below the usual threshold for exposure to altitude related to becoming a concern. The highest point on this trail is 2665 meters.

Can we skip parts of the trail?

Yes, you can. The majority of the accommodations we use on the trail are accessible by car. If you'd like to skip a day you can just meet us at the next accommodation. There is only one day where it is impossible to reach us by car when we stay in Nant Borrant. This will be something we will brief you on during the adventure so that everyone is aware what days can be skipped.

Any there any specific backpack brands that I should consider?

Forget about the brand. Consider the fit. Backpacks should sit comfortably above the hips and on the shoulders with the weight dispersed equally between the two. You should also feel comfortable with the compartments and the ease of accessing your things. Brands we love include Osprey, Deuter, Marmot or Forclaz.

Buffalo Tom Have a New Album, Music Video and Tour: 'We Wouldn't Do It If It Wasn't Fulfilling' (Exclusive)

However, "we're all honestly a little worried about our hearing," jokes frontman Bill Janovitz. "We wanted to lean into the acoustic guitars a bit more"

  • Buffalo Tom kick off their latest tour this weekend
  • Their new album, Jump Rope , was released Friday
  • The music video for their song "Autumn Letter" premieres on PEOPLE

Alternative rockers Buffalo Tom are off on their ‘middle-aged man’ tour.

"If you talk to our fans, they're just outraged that we're only doing 10 shows or something," remarks Buffalo Tom frontman Bill Janovitz, 57, during a recent interview with PEOPLE. "We're not getting up to the Northwest yet, and we haven't been to Texas in a long time."

It’s just the reality for the band that continues getting older, but a band that still finds themselves plugging along amongst a musical landscape that is much different from the one they entered back in 1986 when they were just three kids playing in their Massachusetts college town.

"It's still kind of a struggle to piece together a really satisfying string of dates in the states," explains Janovitz of the constantly changing schedule of him and his Buffalo Tom bandmates Chris Colbourn and Tom Maginnis. "It really has to do with the three of us having a conversation and trying to figure out where we are all in our lives and when we can get time away from work and family. We haven't been doing this full time for a long time."

Kelly Davidson Studio

In fact, it’s been three years since the band that became a cult favorite with songs such as "Taillights Fade" have toured, and six years since they released their last album Quiet and Peace . "We never broke up," says Janovitz. "We always had different things going on."

But no matter how many years have gone by, the fans have always stayed.

"There was one time that we played in Massachusetts, and it was a really hot day," remembers Janovitz. "There was a guy at the front of the stage who fainted. They gave him an EKG, and afterwards, he brought his EKG print out for me to autograph. That’s the kind of fans we have."

And Buffalo Tom continues to provide those fans with new music, having just released their tenth studio album Jump Rope . "I mean, I don't know how much fans of Buffalo Tom will even care that there's new stuff," laughs Janovitz. "I'm always pleasantly surprised when people even listen closely enough to realize it's new."

Certainly, Jump Rope does not waver too far off from the melancholy yet upbeat sound that Buffalo Tom has long been known for.

"We went into it wanting to make an acoustic record, sitting around a campfire type thing, but it turned into a Buffalo Tom record by default," says Janovitz of the album which includes the breathtaking track "Autumn Letter," whose music video premieres on PEOPLE. "The way we write is kind of acoustic based all the time. And that kind of dictated the tone of the album that we were going for. We wanted to lean into the acoustic guitars a bit more."

But maybe, there was another reason.

"We're all honestly a little worried about our hearing," laughs Janovitz.

He jokes again, but Janovitz is the first to admit that with age comes a bunch of stuff, but most importantly, it comes with wisdom.

"I think I was such a control freak back in the day," explains Janovitz. "Bands break up because of ego clashes usually, or just insecurities. And I feel like there was a time when I needed maybe too much. I think I felt like I was a little out of control. I was not in control of my destiny. But then you get through all that and you come out on the other side."

The art of starting over is a trait that lays within the creative threads of Buffalo Tom, especially when one thinks of how far they have come.

"To have the same three guys all healthy and all still friends is so very cool," he says. "Is it a pain in the ass sometimes? Yeah, it's a giant pain in the ass, but we wouldn't do it if it wasn't fulfilling. We wouldn't put ourselves through all the compromise and artistic committees. It's just all about perspective and that dreaded word maturity."
