Top 5 airlines serving from ireland to dulles intl.

United is my favorite and I always try to fly United. I feel like this crew didn’t mesh well together.

Flight was delayed in the gate by 5 hours and ultimately cancelled- rebooking service by United agents was terrible

Flight was late due to mechanical, had to spend night in hotel. Experience disembarking plane was poor, United did little for passengers except what they were required to do by law.

Boarding was terrible. My wife uses a wheel chair and she was in an incredibly hot closed metal cargo box for close to 20 minutes before getting on board

Only water and pretzels served on six hour flight. Did not see crew rest of flight. No video screens and so no wired audio. Poor sound on plan so did not understand anything said by crew. This is a safety issue. Electrical socket did not retain charging block so could not charge phone. No video screen so could not watch movies. Phone is not a substitute.

The food that was offered based on class level of your ticket was absolutely ridiculous and disgusting. They didn't even hot tea to serve, the food was horrible. On our departure flight I was seated in premium plus economy and considering the cost of the flight the food was literally some of the worst I've ever eaten. On the return flight I sat in economy with extra leg room and was given a thin little throw "blanket" and a flimsy little pillow. The air condition was on artic and the seating arrangement wasn't really worth the money. The seat didn't recline good enough and the foot rest was laughable. Total waste.

All flights were on time and boarding was issue free

Water service would be great. The way they board is terrible. Slow passengers first😂😂 They need to smart up a bit

I like the non stop flight to Lagos. The cabin crew were great, the food was alright and the ride was smooth. The downside is there wasn’t wifi connection from Lagos to Washington as stated. The 11hrs flight, became boring at times because of no wifi.

It got me where I needed it to; not much more. It had no competition so that was why I chose it.

Plane could have been cleaner. There were many crumbs and crud around the seat mounts.

Short flight so not much to rate. Surprised I had to pay for a soda.

the room on the plane was good but that is because flight not sold the other three seat and I had room. the food in terrible.

First the price I paid was excellent, my flight was full, but my seat was roomy. The one downside to the experience was they had games on the entertainment console. The guy behind me poked at my head about half the flight. I hope they get rid of this feature.

Very good need to offer better choice of food for business

They should. Heck planes more often not when they are suppose to be leaving causing delays

Crew was fantastic got lovely food and plenty of water. Entertainment was good. Never had to ask for anything. Left on time and got to Seattle early. Luggage did not take long either.

Always find Aer Lingus reliable and good value for money. Food on this flight was pretty basic and the headphone Jack at my seat only worked for one ear. Little disappointed in movie selection, limited on recent releases. Staff are okay - but I always buy a cheap ticket so not like I expect first class opulence anyway!!!

Boarding was so quick, flight was ahead of time which is great and the pilot spoke clearly and was letting people know everything, amazing, love travelling with you 😊

Great hospitality and service! Seats are better cushioned then some

Boarding and crew was great. Flight was cold, need layers. Deplaning was hard. We had to take stairs off the plane and I was separated from my travel companion because we were not seated together and they would not let him wait for me to get off so we were forced onto different shuttles.

Check in and boarding was easy, crew was cheerful. Not much to read or do on the plane and our neighboring passengers were talking loudly so we could not sleep. But overall good. Great coffee.

Flyplay is the only way I travel to Europe. Had a 15 hr layover in Iceland. Normally this would suck, but I regret a car and saw the black sand beaches, several waterfalls and sky lagoon. And finished with lamb at cafe Loki.

did not get the seats we had specially paid for

This is a no frills airline. You cant expect much for the price. Low cost flight, clean, nice staff. That's all I need for the price. If you want more, book with another airline and pay more. For Europe trips, PLAY is the ONLY airline I use

Misleading instructions for check in. Although I did virtual check in and was instructed to head to security, once I was at security, they told me to go back to Play ticket counter and get paper tickets. Also, beware that Play doesn’t participate in TSA PreCheck. I didn’t know that, despite entering PreCheck info when I purchased the tickets. I wasted time in the TSA PreCheck line as well. So we had two setbacks at check in.

It's a budget airline, so forewarned is forearmed. Yes, you pay for everything like carry-on, checked baggage, seat selection, but that's becoming the case with major airlines. Bringing your own snacks and entertainment on board is highly recommended. It's no frills, but the crew, the plane and the flight itself was great. If you want pampering go for a larger airline. If you just want to get from A to B in comfort and safety, Play is a great choice.

It is a low cost airline. Staff are courteous. There is no entertainment. Food is purchased.

Upon boarding, the people at the gate were extremely rude, there were no outlets on a 6 hour international flight, there was no entertainment, all food and drink was purchase only (even snacks), and my seat reclining function was fully broken. The only redeeming quality was the flight attendants were extremely nice. This was by far the worst flight I have ever been on in my entire life

I don’t know how international flights can’t have media screens to keep people entertained for the long flight. Ugh.

If you are looking for the bare bones in an airline - this will do. The boarding process in Newark and Iceland was so disorganized, I thought there was some sort of emergency. No - this is what they do every time. After a full plane was ready to board in Newark, Icelandic Air insisted that everyone have a paper ticket in hand. Mass chaos ensued as dozens of passengers then had to line up in a different queue. On the 5-hour flight, two tiny glasses of water were dispensed. Yes - I could have ordered food, but not even a pretzel was given for free. In Iceland, a full plane of people waited over twenty minutes in a cattle shoot hallway while the plane was readied. Why were we lined up so early? Kids were screaming and some older adults could not stand for that length of time and also hold luggage. Flight was pleasant with the same two glasses of water -one in a tiny paper cup. Movie selection decent but headphones will cost you $5.00. What airline does that? Charge me five dollars more and give them out to passengers. Shame on you for being so cheap!

So Iceland Air is one step above Spirit Airlines. They do not feed you unless you pay for it or are in Saga Class. So, bring your food. They have a drink service, but it's in a large Dixie cup. Ask for the can, that is the only way you'll get a real drink. Also, we missed our connecting flight so they put us up in a flea-bag motel. Don't get me wrong, the staff was nice and friendly, however, there was no shower gel or shampoo in the hotel. We have to go to the corner store to pick some up. The room was not in great shape. Holes in the bathroom, a badly repaired ceiling in the room. The window was warn out. So, you get the just of how bad it was.

Food and staff were excellent. Seats on Saga (business class) are comparable to domestic first class of US Airlines, regarding space and recline. Entertainment options had little international component.

Flight delayed Delay to the gate upon arrival Baggage took more than an hour so we missed our connecting!!! Terrible experience!

There is no food without paying $. Only soft drinks are included in your fare.

Some drinks and basic snack will be good. Water should be served at least once an hour. Blankets for folks who might be cold.

The flight was delayed more than 1.5 hours. Phone calls to united did not satisfy our need to get to Chicago to met family for fight to europe. I was told the flight was booked thru luftansa and united could not make adjustments. When call luftansa they were unaware of the significant delay on the united flight out of mci. They would not authorize a flight change. We went to the airport, as if we would be flying as scheduled, United checked us in, as if our flight would leave as scheduled. We took our bag to be checked to the baggage drop and the agent their confirmed our flight was significantly delayed. She worked for 30 min to get us on another flight. We ended up flying to Denver then to Munich. The rest of the family that flew to Chicago for our meet up and flight to Europe ended up flying to Munich alone. We meet up in Munich for our last leg to luxembourg. In luxembourg we learned on bag was scheduled on our delayed flight. The flight was canceled and we did not receive the bag in lux. We filed a lost back claim. Now 3 days later we STILL do not have the bag. It is apparently in luxembourg and they maybe tried to deliver, however the names on the door of the air b&b do not match the name on the baggage claim so the French speaking delivery person called no one could understand him so he took the bag and left. My brother, traveling with me under a different reservation , has been without essentials for 3 days. One or all of us has stayed "home" each day waiting on the bag. Today was my turn. Delivery window was 10:30 to 2:30. No attempt to knock or ring bell. After the hang up call, my brother called me and told me to check the door. There was nothing there. No sign of attempted delivery, no delivery man, nothing. Being unable to change clothes and having family members take turns waiting on a bag that never comes has ruined this family vacation. Thanks United/Luftansa

Plane was delayed for over 1 hour causing us to miss a connecting flight in Munich. We spent 10 hours waiting for the alternate flight which was delayed about 45 minutes. We had a service attendant who was very helpful with our missed flight. Later in the evening when consulting service attendant, he basically said, the plane will show when it shows!

Poor. Flight was late. We were locked inside the gate area with no way to leave to get some food or a decent meal. No seating. No information from Lufthansa all along. Very bad

The flight was delayed and I would have missed my connection so I had to be rerouted on a much earlier flight.

Other than problems with checking in and uploading passport info everything was great. It would be nice to be able to manually input passport info. Often while traveling the bandwidth has problems uploading pictures

Great crew. Food was better than average, including hot meals and warm cookies. Flight was smooth and we were kept informed of turbulence.

I wasn’t able to make my flight due to Kayak’s inability to simply update my name on my trip from Nick to Nicholas. I would like a refund.

The flight left an hour late and no explanation. Food was basically a few snacks out of bags and tiny cup of soda. Crew was pretty friendly.

United delayed the flight to assist customers to make the connection. The Ohara customs area was overwhelm which created an issue for customers trying to make the Little Rock connection. The delayed allow several customers to make the final flight into Little Rock.

The trip was good except for the delay that caused a connection issue in Chicago.

Entertainment

When I was going to board, one of the staff members told me that I could not board with my passport bag because it was tree items and I would need to check a bag. This was so stupid ! The bag was small. So I had to put my things in my pockets, put the funny bag inside the other bag. Then go throw it. Then in the plane put everything back again in my funny bag.

3 Takeaways From Putin’s Trip to Vietnam

The state visit by President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia to Vietnam had a very different backdrop than his trip to North Korea, as Hanoi has deepened ties with Washington.

Vladimir Putin smiles as he talks to To Lam in front of a row of flowers.

By Sui-Lee Wee and Paul Sonne

President Vladimir V. Putin’s state visit to North Korea appeared to have a singular focus on military matters: The two sides dramatically revived a Cold War-era mutual defense agreement. A day later, in Vietnam, the Russian leader was far less provocative, at least early in his visit.

Vietnam values its relations with the United States, which would be jeopardized if Mr. Putin were to make fiery statements about Washington standing beside Vietnamese officials. So even though Vietnam and Russia have deep military relations and a shared communist history, leaders in Hanoi instead focused talks with Mr. Putin on boosting ties in areas like trade, education, energy, and science and technology. The Russian leader kept his formal remarks muted, though he let loose later when he took questions from his press pool before taking off. Most of the questions were about North Korea.

There were no major breakthroughs, but the show of unity with Vietnam was designed to give Mr. Putin a veneer of international legitimacy at a time of increasing isolation in the West.

Here are three key takeaways from his visit.

It was a diplomatic show of sorts for Mr. Putin.

Unlike North Korea, which is a pariah in the West, Vietnam has been courted by the United States in its effort to contain China’s growing global influence. Within the past year alone, Hanoi has also hosted President Biden and China’s top leader, Xi Jinping.

Mr. Putin’s visit to Vietnam is part of an effort by the Russian leader to show that despite Western attempts at isolating him over his invasion of Ukraine, he is still accepted by world leaders. His trip late last year to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, two key American partners in the Middle East, underscored the point.

He was given a 21-gun salute at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, an important historical site in the center of the capital. In typical scripted fashion, Vietnamese schoolchildren — waving both Russian and Vietnamese flags — lined streets in Hanoi as Mr. Putin’s motorcade drove by. It was Mr. Putin’s fifth trip to the country since 2001 but his first since his full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Vietnam and Russia share a long history bound by ideology. In 1950, the Soviet Union was among the first countries to give diplomatic recognition to what was then the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, or North Vietnam.

Nguyen Phu Trong, the powerful head of the Vietnamese Communist Party, told Mr. Putin that as someone who had lived and studied in Russia, he still recalls fondly “this great and beautiful country of Russia with warm feelings,” according to Vietnam’s Tuoi Tre newspaper.

For decades, Moscow became Vietnam’s biggest donor, providing military aid when Hanoi was fighting its wars against France and the United States — a fact that Mr. Putin took pains to remind the Vietnamese on Thursday.

“The Soviet Union, as you noted, provided effective assistance in the heroic struggle of the Vietnamese people against the French and then American invaders, and subsequently contributed to the peaceful construction of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam,” Mr. Putin said, as Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stood at his side.

Vietnam has stopped short of voicing support for Russia’s war on Ukraine but has also been careful not to alienate Moscow.

Last weekend, Hanoi skipped the Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland. It has also abstained on four United Nations resolutions condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine and voted against the motion to remove Russia from the U.N. Human Rights Council.

Mr. Putin’s rhetoric was muted in Hanoi.

Unlike in his meeting a day earlier with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, Mr. Putin, in public, held back on the fiery rhetoric against the United States through most of the day, when appearing at formal events with Vietnamese counterparts.

On Wednesday, sitting across from Mr. Kim, he railed against Washington as a hegemonic and imperial power trying to force its will on the world through its satellite countries. He signed a defense pact vowing to aid North Korea in the event of a war and threatened deeper cooperation with Mr. Kim’s military.

In Vietnam, the Russian leader stuck to uncontroversial statements about trade and historical relations. The messaging appeared to be calibrated with his Vietnamese counterparts in mind.

Vietnam, which upgraded ties with the United States last year, has been careful with the optics of Mr. Putin’s visit. Ahead of his trip, officials in Washington made it clear that they were not happy, saying that no country “should give Putin a platform to promote his war of aggression and otherwise allow him to normalize his atrocities.”

Vietnamese media has focused the visit on the bilateral relationship and their long historical past as friends during the Cold War era.

“Whatever Russia can offer, I don’t think Vietnam would jump at it and give any impression or appearance that we are aligned with Russia in an anti-Western front,” said Hoang Thi Ha, a senior fellow at the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore.

Although Russia has long supplied weapons to Vietnam, there was little public talk of arms procurement or defense. Mr. Putin’s new defense minister, Andrei R. Belousov, accompanied the Russian leader in North Korea but then seemed to drop off the trip, with Russia’s defense ministry publishing images of him touring a military health complex back in Russia on Thursday.

For Vietnam, it was a display of its ‘bamboo diplomacy.’

Hanoi says its highest level of bilateral ties are with seven countries: Russia, China, the United States, India, South Korea, Japan and Australia. Maintaining ties with one allows it to counterbalance the others.

Both Russia and Vietnam have profited greatly from exploiting Vietnam’s oil and gas deposits in the South China Sea. Mr. Putin pledged to supply oil and gas products to Vietnam for the long term.

Huong Le Thu, deputy director for Asia at the International Crisis Group, said Mr. Putin’s visit was a showcase of Vietnam’s ability to “sustain a relationship with all actors, despite the mutual great power rivalry and competition.”

Mr. Trong, the party chief, calls this approach “bamboo diplomacy,” in which, displaying the flexibility of bamboo branches, the country is able to balance multiple relationships with major powers.

“It is centered around Hanoi’s interests, rather than anyone else’s,” Ms. Huong said.

Top 5 airlines serving from Dulles Intl to Ireland

I flew Delta last week and United Airlines is a poor substitute mechanical problems with the plane and shitty food among other things made my travel experience what’s become to be expected from United no way is it ever worth the money they make us pay

We ended up with seats in the very back. So they did not recline. Have no idea why, we reserved and checked in very early. The isles were very narrow and the seats had very little leg room. But they did give us water, and a snack.

Should have video screens Plane audio was poor and without wired connection hard to understand crew. Should serve more than just cups of water and pretzels on six hour flight. Did not see crew rest of flight. Fix charging sockets to retain charging blocks.

Food was terrible Not many options Stewards dont care Delay

The ride was good but no food ot entertainment hence, it was just over an hour flight.

they made me check my carryon. There was space in the overhead bins.

The plane was delayed 2 hours. The wifi did not work. The seat in first class was not comfortable because the bottom felt like it lost all of its padding. And I did not like when the flight attendant made me wait at my seat to use the bathroom and didn't tell me why. If there were too many people using the 1st Class bathroom, she should have told me to go in the back, coach bathrooms. I guess I have to feel fortunate that they found 2 local pilots to still fly the plane tonight after the original pilots ended up at an airport 60 miles away due to high winds.

The crew were really great, but the 4 hour delay in small chunks was the worst.

Every experience was good except for the lack of comfort in those economy seats. I never had knee pain until that flight. Those seats are uncomfortable.

I bought internet for the flight. Don’t waste your money. I wasn’t able to download a 1 Mb file from Google Docs during a 3-4 hr period. You can only use WhatsApp and email if you are willing to wait.

Everything went well, but could have used a bit more legroom.

The flight got us safely from point a to point b and on time. For a transatlantic flight that isnt nothing. Flight crew was kind and professional. The seats are super uncomfortable (worse than domestic budget airlines) and the cabin was DIRTY.

Long unexplained delay, uncomfortable back row, long waits for trash collection.

Great service on the plane and by ground staff. great prices. I was able to change seats on the plane. The allocated seats cannot be changed when checkin in online. They have to be done at the airport if you check in at the airport or on the plane by asking a stewardess / steward.

Are Longus was fine. I booked thru Kayak and was unable to get my business class seat early. Sat next to galley. Crew forgot to wake me for breakfast.

I was pleasantly surprised - it has been awhile since I traveled with them - other than being delayed leaving Malaga everything ran very smoothly- yes I would travel with aer Lingus again and yes I would recommended

I loved how they arrange boarding (starting with people seated in back and moving to the front). Flight crew was very polite and welcoming. Seating was ok, I felt like there was enough leg space however it is noticeable when the passenger in front of you sets their seat back.

Flight staff very friendly and helpful where possible. Late flight and travelling with young child, cabin lights remained on for the duration of the flight which was a little disappointing considering the time of the flight. Overall very happy to travel with Aer Lingus.

Nice to be on a flight that wasn't fully booked so there were only two of us in the three seat row.

The only problem was there are games on the entertaiment system. The guy behind me played poker the entire time and poking the back of my seat. I hope they remove these.

Ugh.

Great crew, bumpy landings, two-hour wait for baggage with no communication or explanation. Will not fly again!

My experience with Icelandair was just ok, nothing special. Requested wheelchair service for my wife and none was offered at checking in Baltimore or available for her upon arrival at Gatwick airport in London.

Decent service - nice seats. Crew were not overly attentive but can’t complain overall for the money

Very nice flight, easy connections in Keflavík, and friendly crew.

I will never fly this airline again. Checking in was poor , we had to go back to the check in counter at Raleigh - Durham international airport three times because they didn’t issue my boarding pass but rather duplicated my husband’s twice which caused a big headache at the passport control at the airport which triggered security alert and wouldn’t let us pass through we we had to wait for long time to be able to explain and clear everything after talking to the supervisor.. No food on the plane , not even crackers. No food was offered to buy ether . No ear phone was provided . Very little time to make from one plane to another and nobody to assist with smooth transition. Flight itself , we felt safe so thank you to the pilots . But customer service was terrible . We spent $ 2500 on 2 tickets, so I cannot say that service was consistent with the price .

Seats are way too much now with these new airplanes especially long flights like we had. I was 7 month pregnant and in a lot of discomfort due to small seats.

Food was horrible. This wasn’t business class. No leg space, can’t sleep in row position, huge delay

I liked how easy my transfers between flights in Keflavik were. I would have appreciated more food options in Keflavik.

The plane was flaming hot! Could not breathe. Everyone coughing from heat. Awful.

My biggest problem was the flight from KEF to DUB was delayed, which caused me to miss my connecting flight in DUB and we were forced into an unplanned 10-hour layover in DUB. Crew and boarding staff were all very friendly but this was a real inconvenience and especially uncomfortable for my disabled wife.

The seats are designed for 12 years old, but pretty uncomfortable for the average adulte!!

Seats much smaller/less leg room than united from Phx. Biarding was very poor and unroganized.

I thought that the seats in Economy were ok. The attendants were very nice all the time. But the pasta for dinner was pretty awful. I am not sure why the boarding cannot start earlier in such a big plane. It’s pretty lame to start boarding 30 minutes before the scheduled departure and then blame the delay on the runway traffic.

The staff was amazing, second to none. I wish I would have booked an exit row seat earlier. I'm 6'2 225 ( athletic build). However I've had a double hip replacement and the 10 hour trip with minimal space in economy caused some muscle spasms, even with getting up and walking around. The plane was full, and the staff did check for me. I would definitely fly again based on the service. However if you are a bigger guy and fly economy, please go for the exit row if possible.

Flight was late leaving for no obvious reason. Seat entertainment did not work. Restrooms were FILTHY. Arrived late to catch connection. Little assistance from Discover staff. Luggage did not arrive until the following day. Horrible experience.

Check in was great. Boarding seemed less organized. Flight was good.

Could not check in early online, even after multiple attempts. Got the last row when checked in at airport. Food was bad tasting and no choice at all. Comfort was poor. Overall a very bad experience. I wouldn’t fly again with Lufthansa.

I am not taking Lufthansa next time. Everything is delayed, food quality was so bad. Baggage was the worst.
