The classic, 90-minute Dolphin Adventure Tour costs a mere $33 per passenger. Tours typically launch at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., as these are the best times to spot these majestic mammals. But The Scarlet Lady also proudly provides sunset tours that are more focused on romance than dolphins.

Dolphin Watch Nature Tours

Dolphin Watch is a reliable backup if The Scarlet Lady is fully booked during your desired time slot. We appreciate this local establishment because their tours don’t “just” focus on dolphins. You’ll also learn about Mustang Island’s history, cruise past Lydia Ann Lighthouse , and experience a live shrimp trawl, which typically nets anything from crabs to stingrays and, you guessed it, shrimp. Unfortunately, Dolphin Watch cannot match The Scarlet Lady’s online booking system. Thus, phone calls are required to make reservations.

Captain Kirk’s Tiki Cruises

Admittedly, Captain Kirk (not James Tiberius, to our knowledge) doesn’t wield a prototypical dolphin tour in Port Aransas. No, Captain Kirk is your Party Captain ! The $50, two-hour “booze cruise” is a BYOB dolphin-viewing experience that’s geared toward bachelorette (and bachelor) parties, work retreats, large family gatherings, and just about any other type of celebration. With three tours daily, including a 10 a.m. family tour, you’ll no doubt find a time slot that best fits your group.

Book Your Pirate Ship Cruise in Port Aransas

Book your trip on Red Dragon Pirate Cruises seven days a week. Pirate adventures take place every day from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and every day except Monday and Thursday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $36 for adults and $25 for children. 

Red Dragon also features a sunset happy hour cruise from 5 to 6:30 p.m. daily. The sunset cruise costs $20 for adults and includes one free drink. Check regularly for specialty cruises like the 4th of July Fireworks Cruise.

An adventure for the whole family, we offer the newest dolphin watching experience in Port Aransas. We will head out of the harbor in the calm and protected inland channels and find the local pods of dolphins. You will be able to see them feeding and frolicking in their natural habitat, take close up photos, learn some local history and lore, and see beautiful views of Port Aransas and San Jose Island that those poor landlocked souls cannot.

Sunset Cruise

A perfect way to wind down after a long day is on our leisurely sunset cruise. Our captain and crew will do their best to make sure you get the best view in the area of the sun bidding us farewell for another day. We do our best to make sure you get to appreciate the natural beauty and experience the best our area has to offer.

The Jetty Boat runs every day from Fisherman’s Wharf in Port Aransas to a private dock at the base of the North Jetty on San Jose Island. The Jetty Boat is the only way to access the North Jetty and the deserted beaches of San Jose Island for fishing, birding, beach combing along the empty beaches, and getting back to nature at its finest.

Ahoy me mateys!  Arrrggghhh any of you landlubbers brave enough to join the pirates of the Red Dragon?  New recruits are accepted daily.  And dont worry, her scurvy crew will teach you everything you need to know about being a great pirate.  During your 2-hour pirate adventure cruise, Sir Thomas, Bones McKraken, Bilgewater Bradley and the like will show you how to sword fight like a pro, how to swab the deck, how to get cleaned up !pirate style! and much more!  You will even leave the ship looking just like your favorite pirate complete with mustache and/or pirate tattoos.  Song, dance and pirate shenanigans will fill the air as you cruise the calm waters surrounding Port Aransas.  Cruises include dolphin watching, pistol duels and even a dance contest!  If the salt air gives you an appetite, Red Dragon Pirate Cruises has snacks, drinks and adult beverages available for purchase at the Slurp N Burp Pub.

During the months of June, July and August, the Red Dragon sails 3 times daily.  For the rest of the year, cruises are offered at 12:30 and 3:30 daily.

At least once or twice a year, my family leaves behind the hustle and bustle of daily life in Fort Worth, Texas, and we head South for a family vacation on the beach shores of Port Aransas.   

Port Aransas holds a special place in our hearts, and not just because of its stunning beaches and charming coastal town vibe. 

One of the highlights of our trips is the incredible dolphin encounters we’ve had over the years. There’s something truly magical about watching these graceful creatures.

Hands down, whether early in the morning or late afternoon into the evening, Port Aransas has the best locations to see and experience the magic of dolphin watching. 

So, let’s go on a wild adventure and tour of the best dolphin-watching spots in Port Aransas.

1. Roberts Point Park

Located at 301 J C Barr Blvd in Port Aransas, Texas, 78373, our favorite and most reliable spot to watch dolphins in Port Aransas is Roberts Point Park — a 50-acre waterfront park.  It has spots along the jetty, fishing piers, and breathtaking panoramic views from the observation deck.

Should dolphins not cruise the waters near Roberts Point Park for whatever reason, then there’s always the playground to the rescue.  

In addition, the seagulls and pelicans of Port Aransas may make a cameo appearance, as a brown pelican did with my nieces and son a few years back.

2. Nature’s Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture

Located at 1356 Ross Avenue in Port Aransas, Texas, 78373, Nature’s Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture , located just west of Roberts Point Park, is another favorite spot for my family and me to see dolphins in Port Aransas. 

It’s a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering breathtaking views of wild dolphins breaching the Aransas Pass channel as massive tankers and ships pass through.

This nature preserve provides a perfect vantage point to watch for dolphins comfortably. A one-mile cement trail leads to the pavilion and ship channel, dotted with gazebos and benches along the way, offering ideal spots to keep a keen eye out for these magnificent creatures.

When visiting the preserve, it’s recommended to park at the end of Port Street for easier access, rather than parking at Ross Avenue and walking from nearby Community Park. Though the walk might be slightly longer, the possibility of witnessing dolphins is well worth it!

And if by chance you don’t spot any dolphins, fear not! Nature’s Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture offers many other activities to enjoy, including scenic trails and fishing. 

The nearby Community Park also features a range of amenities, such as a one-of-a-kind skate park, pickleball courts, disc golf, basketball hoops, playgrounds, tennis courts, and sandy areas. 

So, whether you’re captivated by dolphins or seeking other forms of entertainment, this area has something for everyone to enjoy.

3. Fisherman’s Wharf

Suppose you’re into a dining experience that might offer the chance to see dolphins breaching Port Aransas Mun. Boat Harbor , then look no further than Fisherman’s Wharf — located at 900 Tarpon Street in Port Aransas, Texas, 78323.

While we don’t venture into town every day, when we do, it’s usually to eat at Grumbles Seafood Co , Virginia’s On the Bay , or Trout Street Bar & Grill — whichever can get us in first!

On our latest visit to Port Aransas, we had dinner at Grumbles Seafood Co., and everyone made happy plates.  But as we ordered and awaited our food sitting on the deck, we overheard a bit of commotion and decided to see what was happening at Fisherman’s Wharf.

To our surprise, the Fisherman’s Wharf team arrived from a long day’s work with today’s catch: three massive marlins.   Talk about an experience of a lifetime!

And to add to this experience, we passed back by after a delightful, delicious dinner as the final 2-hour sunset dolphin watch cruised and docked into Fisherman’s Wharf to discover a few dolphins had trailed back into Port Aransas Mun. Boat Harbor. 

Although we couldn’t see them as close as we did at Roberts Point Park, we could watch them breach a few times as they returned from the Bay area to the Aransas Pass channel.

4. Station Street Pier

After being devastated by Hurricane Harvey, the Station Street Pier, also known as the Ancel Brundrett Pier , has been restored and is now open to the public — located at 1009 N Station Street in Port Aransas, Texas, 78323.

Thanks to a generous federal grant, this iconic landmark in Port Aransas has been reconstructed, attracting passionate anglers and becoming a hotspot for locals and tourists to witness incredible dolphin activity.

You’ll find restrooms and limited parking facilities at the Station Street Pier. While no other amenities are available, this pier offers a prime location to observe ships, tankers, birds, and, of course, dolphins. So, even if dolphin sightings are not possible, you can still enjoy the maritime atmosphere and the beauty of the surrounding environment.

Honorable mention of dolphin sighting locations

While the Beach Street Pier (5), also known as the Horace Caldwell Pier, and Port Aransas Jetty (6) may not be as popular as the previously mentioned dolphin spotting locations in Port Aransas, they are still worth a visit. 

These iconic landmarks offer unobstructed views of the vast Gulf of Mexico. While my family and I haven’t personally witnessed dolphin sightings at these spots, there have been reports of dolphins gracefully breaching the ocean waves far from the shoreline during sunrise and sunset.

Additionally, if you happen to be staying at accommodations like Cinnamon Shore , La Mirage , Port Royal Ocean Resort , Mustang Towers , Gulf Shores , or any other lodging along the ocean side of Port Aransas, keep an eye out as you stroll along the beach or relax on the balcony. You might just be lucky enough to witness a picturesque dolphin sighting.

Do they have a time where you can hold or touch sea animals like starfish, or stingray? And how was the dolphin watching part did the dolphins come up to the boat at all?

Unfortunately they do not allow for the touching of any sea animals. The dolphins were seen while we were out but a part of the show is running into the dolphin watching crew and making fun of them and shooting our water guns at them. You can see… more

My boyfriend and I went on the evening cruise on July 4th. While this cruise is definitely geared towards families and children, we had a really good time. The kids were kept occupied and active and the adults were able to relax and enjoy their time. The staff kept their "characters" the entire cruise and it was clear that a great deal of planning goes into making it as an "authentic" experience as possible. There is a pretty full bar on board so the adults can enjoy a cold beverage (or 4) and there are 4 flavors of slushies for the kids that can be easily turned into frosty adult beverages. We stayed out on the water to watch the fireworks and it was absolutely awesome! They played patriotic music on the boat while he fireworks went off and it was just an overall fantastic experience. I HIGHLY recommend this cruise to pretty much everyone!

We love the crew and the experience. My only observation is we showed up over an hour in advance to make sure we got to sit on top the observation decks. However, there is no line management to ensure first come first serve. So folks rushed the line and we ended up toward the end with less than desirable seats.

Had the pleasure of cruising with a rowdy crew of scallywags, scoundrels and blaggards this evening on a sunset cruise. What fun! The crew in all their pirate regalia thrilled the children on board with an assortment of fun games including water guns, swashbuckling sword fights and treasure hunt to name just a few. Meanwhile, their parents watched for dolphin pods and enjoyed a cocktail or two served by a buxom surly wench. It was great fun.

I just want to make sure that everyone knows what they're getting into with this cruise. It is a VERY LOUD screaming pirates constantly cruise. If you're a parent who wants to sit at the bar for an hour while the pirates play games with your kids...this cruise is for you! Make sure you are ready to tip well at the end - they took care of your kids while you drank...seems fair. They don't do anything with the dolphins in the bay. I would assume the loud music drives most of the dolphins away. And music...think kid music sung in heavy metal style. Headbanger baby shark was one. It's weird for sure. And again, it's so stinkin LOUD. I needed earplugs. Also, we were supposed to cruise at 6:30 and they didn't start boarding until closer to 7. This is geared toward kids between 5-9 years old. The older kids wouldn't really enjoy it. It's for the youngers.

Scheduled a trip on my recent vacation as something to do just to sight see. My boyfriend and I don't have kids but I read that they had a bar on board and the point of my vacation was to celebrate turning 21. The bartender and crew were very sweet and my boyfriend and I stuck to the top deck while all of the kids played down below. We even enjoyed the entertainment! Definitely a good memory for kids to make and the dolphins/sunset view was perfect!

I took my 12 year old daughter and 16 year old granddaughter 2 days ago. It was so much fun! All of the kids on board had a blast! The grown-ups were also entertained. The "crew" were extremely nice and played their roles perfectly. I would do it again!

This trip was amazing! My 4 and 6yo were in heaven. There were water gun fights, treasure hunting, jokes and sword fights. Plus we had cocktails, a beautiful sunset and saw dolphins. Great trip

We had quite the time on the ship. The press how was full of jokes and fun to get everyone ready.. followed by loading of the ship and pictures with the captain.. they took extra time to take a photo of every family with the captain. There is recruitment training, sword fights, a water gun shoot out and a treasure hunt..hilarious commentary for parents and the kids the entire time. Great drinks aboard but I do recommend eating before going out on the ship as there are only snacks on the ship but served by a lovely lady. Pack extra extra sunscreen I fried like a lobster even on a cloudy day. Special shout out to the "first mate" for taking care of my youngest when he over heated and making him feel better when he thought he had ruined the fun. Fun for the whole family and worth every penny.
