The Railways has a strict rule regarding middle berths. Passengers cannot fold down the berth during the day as the lower and upper berths are used as seats. Passengers can only sleep on the middle berth from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. In case a passenger exceeds the time limit, the lower berth passenger has the right to ask them not to.

Can I Travel With Fully Waiting List Ticket

As i already explained this in My Previous Post Regarding all About Waiting Tickets.

You Can Travel with Waiting List Ticket Only if You Booked Tickets from Railway Counters or I-Ticket. And if you have E-Ticket With Partially Confirmed or RAC are valid for Travelling.

Yes, you can travel with waiting list tickets on Indian Railways. When you book a ticket and the seats or berths are not available at that time, you are placed on a waiting list. As other passengers cancel their tickets or their reservations are confirmed, the waiting list moves up, and you have a chance of getting a confirmed seat or berth.

If your waiting list ticket does not get confirmed before the date of travel, you have the option to still board the train and occupy the seat or berth if it remains vacant. However, you are not guaranteed a seat and may have to adjust with the available space or share a seat with another passenger.

It’s important to note that traveling with a waiting list ticket can be uncertain and there is no guarantee of getting a confirmed seat. It’s advisable to check the status of your ticket before the journey and make alternative arrangements if necessary. You can check the status of your ticket through the Indian Railways website, mobile app, or by contacting the railway inquiry helpline.

(As in Some Conversation Rules noted that Passenger Can not traveled with Waiting Ticket But there is no Clear Order to Remove Passenger from Train if they Have Waiting Tickets)

Because in E-Tickets it’s Auto Cancel if Status Fully Waiting After Chart Preparation. So You Can not Travel with Fully Waiting E-Tickets.

First Check Which Type of Ticket You have: Currently There is Two Type Tickets Provided and Approved by Indian Railway.

1) E-Ticket Booked from irctc.co.in website or though IRCTC E-Ticket Agents, Under Online Services Money debited from Account and Printed On Common Page. Look likes below pictured, You Can not Travel with Fully E-Tickets because it’s got auto cancelled and money refunded with the same account.

Ticket through Personnal irctc Account

Counter Ticket or I-Ticket:

2) Counter Ticket or I-Ticket: Booked from Indian Railway Authorized Counter, Under Hand to Hand Services. Looks like below pictured, You Can Travel With this type of Railway Ticket with waiting Status.

If one has booked a ticket in waiting from railway counter but till the chart preparation it does not confirm but railway allows him/her to travel then where ? if journey in the reservation coach allowed and passenger travels sitting on floor in the reservation coach then what about reservation and berth charges paid by the passenger ? and if passenger is allowed to travel in Gen/2nd class coach then what will be difference of reservation /gen. ticket charges paid by the passengers.who will bear this and why? This the the question railway has to reply in the interest of railway passengers. A clear cut rules should be there for issuing W/L ticket and travelling for waiting listed passengers to avoid financial loss of passengers and corruption.

Dear sir , I am a serving army officer and am proceeding on duty .i had booked a ticket at railway counter on warrant in AC 1ST CLASS AS APPLICABLE to me however my ticket was waiting 7 ,on the day of travel the status of my ticket changed to PQWL 4 however when I boarded the train the compartment was empty and when I showed my ticket to the TT he told me that I can’t travel on waiting ticket.I argued my case saying the railway has already deducted the fare as mentioned in the ticket as in their case the fare has already been book debited from army also there is vacant seats but the TT WAS ADMANT THAT there are no seats n how can I be so sure that the seats are vacant ,to which I replied as per the chart put on the coach the seats are vacant as some passengers may not have come he however said even if the train is vacant TT have no power to allot a seat also because of Diwali rush there is no vacant seat otherwise my waiting list ticket would have got automatically confirmed.in view of the above may I request you to kindly confirm that if one can travel in such cases n if the coach is empty can’t a TT allot a seat or is it just another case of A TT ACTING DIFFICULT just to trouble someone who has to travel as in my case I have no option as I have to report on duty on due date . May I request you to kindly kindly revert back as soon as possible. My ticket details are as under:- PNR NO 8252523130 Train no 12171 PLACE OF TRAVEL From LTT TO JHANSI DATE OF JOURNEY 27/10/16 Class of travel AC 1st

Dear Mr Prabhu, Thanks for the effort done and shown by your team and Modi government to improve the railway pathetic situation. How ever lot of further improvement is to be done to make Indian railway world class. There is one query which I want to clarify for the ticket booked though Irctc online booking on 1st july16 for my parents with PNR no 8404671136 traveling from Manmad to Lucknow via Pushpak Express. Now while booking two seats in first AC,through IRCTC one seat is confirm and other is waiting one. If the other ticket is confirmed before the date of journey it is ok.In case other seat is not confirm can my mother will be allowed to travel.

As I know if ticket is not confirm and in waiting list , IRCTC will refund the money and we will be treated as ticket less. But I believe if one person one seat is confirmed in same PNR ,other person should be allowed to board the train. Sticker attached. Need clarification how to deal in such case?

This kind of ticket called partially Confirmed. In this Case both passenger including Waiting Passneger Can Travel. ( They may be allotted berths if there are any cancellation in the coach. Else you may have to adjust amongst yourselves. But this cannot be claimed as right. Some TTEs may not permit.)

All about train ticket and berth status

The advance booking for indian train ticket opens 120 days before the date of journey. Tickets can be booked both offline at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) or online using irctc website. Ticket booked online can be an e-ticket ( which is a print-out / sms) or an i-ticket wherein the PRS ticket is couriered to the passenger.

All the tickets issued have a unique 10-digit PNR (Passenger Name Record) which you should quote for any correspondence regarding your ticket / journey. The ticket also contains all the other journey details like train number, journey date, travel class, origin, destination, ticket status, berth details for confirmed tickets, passenger details etc. Maximum of six passengers can travel through one ticket. But just having a ticket does not guarantee that your journey is confirmed. It all depends on the ticket status. All the passengers in a ticket are assigned a ticket status which can be waiting (WL), RAC (a half berth), or confirmed (full berth). These are explained below in detail:

Waiting List (WL): If the passenger status is marked as WL followed by a number then the passenger has a waitlisted status. This can get confirm only if the passengers who have booked before you for the same journey cancel their ticket. For example if the status is GNWL 4 / WL 3 , then this means that you have a waiting list of 3 (the latter number) and your ticket will get confirmed only if 3 passengers who have booked before you for the same journey happen to cancel their journey. Similarly, GNWL/AVAILABLE means that current status of your ticket is CONFIRMED because some passengers who booked before you have cancelled their tickets. This status also gives some insight into the current ticket cancellation trends for this journey. For more on this, visit Trainman's trend analysis . In case the passenger status is waitlisted even after the chart preparation, then the passenger is not allotted any berth. If all the passengers on an e-ticket have waitlisted status after final chart preparation, then the ticket gets automatically cancelled and the amount is refunded back to the user's account. In this case, the passengers should NOT board the train. If at least one passenger has RAC or confirm status while other passengers on same ticket have waiting list status, then the e-ticket DOES NOT get cancelled automatically and the passengers are allowed to board the train. Waiting list can be of various types:

  • GNWL: General Waiting List (GNWL) waitlisted tickets are issued when the passenger begins his/her journey at the originating station of a route or stations close to the originating station. This is most common type of waiting list and has got the highest chances of confirmation.
  • RLWL: Remote Location Waiting List (RLWL) means ticket is issued for intermediate stations (between the originating and terminating stations) because usually these are the most important towns or cities on that particular route. This type of tickets will be given a separate priority and confirmations will depend on the cancellations of a destination confirmed ticket. Remote location stations prepare there own chart 2-3 hours before the actual departure of train. For this type of ticket there are less chances of confirmation.
  • PQWL: A Pooled Quota Waiting List (PQWL) is shared by several small stations. Pooled Quotas normally operate only from the originating station of a route, and there is only one Pooled Quota for the entire run. The Pooled Quota is generally allotted for passengers travelling from the originating station to a station short of the terminating station, or from an intermediate station to the terminating station, or between two intermediate stations.
  • RLGN: Remote Location General Waiting List (RLGN) is issued when a user books a ticket where WL quota is RLWL. This means after ticket booking RLWL gets named as RLGN.
  • RSWL: Roadside Station Waiting List (RSWL) is allotted when berths or seats are booked by the originating station for journeys up to the road-side station and distance restrictions may not apply. This waiting list has also very less chances of confirmation.
  • RQWL: If a ticket is to be booked from an intermediate station to another intermediate station, and if it is not covered by the general quota or by the remote location quotas or pooled quota, the request for the ticket may go into a Request Waiting List (RQWL).
  • TQWL(formerly CKWL): For tatkal tickets, the waiting list issued used to be CKWL which has been changed to TQWL by the Indian Railways since December 2016. If tatkal ticket goes up, it directly gets confirmed and doesn't go through RAC status unlike GNWL. During chart preparation, general waiting list (GNWL) is preferred over tatkal waiting list (TQWL) therefore tatkal waitlisted tickets are less likely to get confirmed. Follow these tatkal booking tips to get a confirmed tatkal ticket.

If you have booked a waiting ticket or you are deciding whether to book a ticket where current status is waiting, then check your chances of confirmation i.e. ticket will get confirmed or not.

Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC): If a user has been issued an RAC ticket, then most likely his ticket will get confirmed by the time of chart preparation and he will get a berth. In case the ticket remains RAC even after chart preparation (if the coach number is preceded by R i.e. RB1, 31 means RAC seat no 31 in coach B1), then user is allotted a half berth (seat) i.e. two persons having RAC ticket status are allotted one side-lower berth . The TTE is obligated to allot berths which are cancelled after chart preparation to these RAC passengers.

Confirmed (CNF): In this case the passenger gets a full berth for the journey. In case of first AC (1A), the passenger may not get berth details even for confirmed ticket when ticket is issued. This is because the berth allotment for this class is done manually by the TTE on chart preparation.

can travel with waiting list ticket

You can not get in with a wait listed ticket.

Yes, your ticket position will climb upto RAC before it gets confirmed. With an RAC ticket you can board the train, but you'll get just half a berth for each ticket.

can travel with waiting list ticket

Officially you are not authorised to board the train with wl tickets. But in case of emergengy you can board the train talking to tte in advance about your condition and manage on board (but this is an unofficial procesd and only with manual tickets obtain from computerised reservation counter,e ticket automatically get canceld if not get confirmed after chard get prepared) .You may get direct confirm seats or it may get stuck to rac,all depends upon vacant seats of different quota, boarding station etc.

You cannot board train with WL tickets in normal cases.

This can be possible if you are accompanied with someone with confirmed ticket and they dont have issues in accomodating you.

or else, as someone just said, please board if you are confident of dealing with TTE and are willing to comfort yourself without a seat

The Wait-list position will improve at the time of preparation of chart. Depending upon the number of cancellations, it will first be converted into RAC. With RAC tickets you get sitting accommodation (half-a-berth) and you can board the train with RAC Status. In case, you have provided your mobile number at the time of booking the tickets, you will get SMS from IRCTC communicating the status upon its improvement.

What is a Waiting Ticket? Are waiting tickets allowed in Train?

Advance booking is a very useful feature in the Indian railways that allows passengers to book train tickets as early as 120 days before the journey. You can book these tickets online through the Indian railways’ website or offline at the railway stations Passenger Reservation System. They can either be printed out or shown as an SMS on mobile phones or shown as a physical ticket usually couriered to the passenger. However, having a ticket does not mean it is confirmed. Your ticket confirmation usually depends on the ticket status and one of the statuses people absolutely hate seeing in the Waiting List Ticket (WL).

Now book your next train ticket with redRail – authorized IRCTC partner train app that offers super-convenient train ticket booking experience.

What is a Waiting Ticket?

If the ticket status is shown to be WL along with the number after, the passenger is on the waiting list. These tickets can only get confirmed if another passenger booked before you cancel their ticket for the same journey. Therefore, if your ticket status is WL3, this means that you are the third on the waiting list, and your ticket will only get confirmed with 3 confirmed passengers canceling their tickets. If your ticket status is still a waiting ticket even after the journey’s chart preparation, then this means that the ticket was not allotted any berth.

There are different types of waiting tickets as well. A few of the popular ones are:

General Waiting List Ticket (GNWL)

These are issued when the person’s departure station is closer to that journey’s originating station or the originating station. The most common type of waiting list is the GNWL, and these tickets have a higher chance of getting confirmed.

Remote Location Waiting List (RLWL)

These are tickets provided for stations between the terminating and the originating stations, especially when the journey passes through important towns and cities. Different priority is given for these tickets though these tickets will get confirmed only if another passenger cancels.

Pooled Quota Waiting List (PQWL)

These are usually allotted when the ticket is from an originating station to a closer station or when the intermediate station is closer to the terminating station, or if you booked the ticket between two intermediate stations.

Is Waiting ticket allowed on the train?

When booking for more than 1 person, a maximum of 6 people can travel through a single ticket. Suppose every passenger on a single ticket has been waitlisted even after the journey’s final chart preparation. In that case, that ticket will automatically get canceled, and the price of the ticket will be sent back to that passenger’s bank account. When this happens, the passengers are not allowed to board the train. If at least one person has a confirmed status on that ticket, then the other passengers can also board the train even if they are on the WL status. This time, the e-ticket will not get automatically canceled.

Now that you know what to expect and how to move forward with a waiting ticket, you can make a more educated decision on whether to board the train or not.

Just enter the 10-digit PNR No. given on your IRCTC train ticket on the designated MakeMyTrip PNR page and click 'check status' to get details. You can also check PNR status by sending an SMS on 139 or 5676747. Just type in 'PNR (10-digit PNR number)'

Decoding the PNR number

You must be thinking about what a PNR number represents and what information is stored in it. Let us decode what and how a PNR number is provided by the IRCTC ticket booking system.

  • The first 3 digits in the PNR number refers to PRS (Passenger Reservation System) which indicates the station or the railway zone where the code is generated and the ticket has been booked. The first number is the zonal code that means from which zone the train is departing or the starting station of the train.
  • The second and third digit are the PRS centers.
  • The rest of the seven digits are randomly generated which does not provide any useful information but it’s simply for the purpose of providing a unique PNR number.

Types of IRCTC PNR Status

When you receive your PNR number you also receive a PNR status . There are many PNR status provided by the Indian Railways. Each defines the status of your train ticket bookings . Here's what some of the abbreviations stands for:

  • CNF: If you got this on your PNR status, it means that your ticket is confirmed.
  • CAN: It means your ticket is canceled.
  • WL: WL stands for Waiting List. It means that your ticket will only get confirmed if a passenger travelling via the same train decides to cancel his/her ticket.
  • RAC: It stands for Reservation Against Cancellation. It means your reservation is confirmed and you may board the train but the berth has to be shared between passengers and split into two seats. If the confirmed passenger does not board the train, a full berth is allotted to the passenger with a RAC ticket.
  • GNWL: It stands for General Waiting List which is a type of waitlist quota on tickets. The probability of this ticket getting confirmed is very high.
  • PQWL: Pooled quota waiting list status means that if a passenger is traveling between any intermediate stations or from the starting station to the immediate next stop. The chances of confirmation are quite less in this case.
  • RLWL: Indian Railways issues train tickets to passengers traveling between the originating station and the terminating station. It is issued to travelers for an intermediate railway station known as Remote Location Waiting List.
  • TQWL: This PNR status means Tatkal Quota Waiting List and is issued for tatkal tickets. Unlike GNWL, this ticket gets directly confirmed and does not go through RAC status. A tatkal waitlist is less likely to get confirmed in IRCTC ticket booking system, as during the chart preparation, GNWL is preferred over TQWL.
  • NOSB: This PNR status stands for No Seat Berth for half fare. It means that the children under the age of 5 to 12 can board the train but no seat will be allotted.

Validity of a PNR Number

A PNR number is issued when a ticket is booked by a passenger or for a group of a maximum of 6 passengers. It is valid until the date of departure or train cancellation. The PNR number is valid for 9 months and the same PNR number can be generated after a year.

How to Get a Confirmed PNR Status?

When you book train tickets and get your PNR train status as Waitlist, you may wonder whether your ticket will get confirmed or not. A confirmation depends on various factors such as the current bookings, cancellation trend, weekend train ticket bookings, station quotas, festivals, holidays, and special events. Thus, PNR status is very important in understanding your ticket status. With MMT, being the one-stop destination to check PNR status, you can easily put in your PNR number and get the status. Moreover, you can also reach out to the customer service of MakeMyTrip in order to resolve your booking-related queries. Alternatively, you can also check PNR Status on Goibibo

The order from the railways to the various zones indicates that it is planning to run mixed services instead of the presently all air-conditioned trains. this means that it may begin services to smaller tier-ii towns along with major cities that the rajdhani trains cater to at present..

In a late night move on Wednesday, the Railway Board issued a directive introducing the provision of waiting lists starting May 22 for journeys not only on its currently operational special trains but also on all its forthcoming services. The new changes in guidelines will come into effect for tickets booked from May 15 for journeys beginning from May 22.

Introduction of waiting lists will also lead to reducing the queues for confirmed tickets significantly.(Ajay Aggarwal /HT PHOTO.)

The Railways will start waiting lists for special trains From May 22. Here’s a look at all the new rules in place:

* No waitlisted ticket holder will be allowed to travel, according to the new rules. These passengers will, however, get a full refund from the Railways.

* The railways capped the waiting list on these trains -- up to 100 for AC 3 tier, 50 for AC 2 tier, 200 for Sleeper Class, 100 for chair cars and 20 each for First AC and Executive Class.

* Introduction of waiting lists will also lead to reducing the queues for confirmed tickets significantly.

* Tatkal tickets nor Premium Tatkal Quota nor senior citizen quota will be available on these trains.

* According to guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, all passengers shall be compulsorily screened and only asymptomatic passengers shall be allowed to board the train.

* If during screening a passenger has very high temperature/symptoms of Covid-19, he shall not be allowed to travel despite having confirmed tickets. In such a situation, a full refund shall be provided to the passenger concerned.

* On a group ticket, if one passenger is found unfit to travel and all other passengers on the same PNR also do not want to travel, in that case a full refund shall be granted for all passengers.

The A’s will start playing at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento for the 2025 MLB season and fans can already sign up to learn about ticketing opportunities or put down a deposit for season tickets.

The Sacramento Kings announced Thursday that the A's will temporarily play at Sutter Health Park for the next three seasons — with an option for a fourth season. The team's lease in Oakland expires at the end of this year’s season and a permanent home in Las Vegas is not expected to be ready until January 2028.

Detailed ticket information and pricing is expected to be available after the MLB schedule is released this summer. But current A’s season ticket members will get first priority on seats and River Casts season ticket members will have priority purchase access.

Other fans can get priority access to buy seats at A’s games by joining “ The A’s List ” at Sutterhealthpark.com/athletics and by putting down a $100 per seat deposit on season ticket membership.

A webpage on MLB.com offers a form for people interested in A’s season tickets, group tickets and suites to fill out, too.

Sutter Health Park has a capacity of 14,000. Per the terms of the deal to bring the A’s to West Sacramento, MLB will work with the A’s and River Cats to make sure schedules are constructed to meet MLB and MiLB guidelines .

Each team will have a dedicated facility space.
