His diabolical plan was to "shipwreck" the Minnow (nudge nudge, wink wink), ransom Thurston Howle III for all his loot, and being a completely unscrupulous cad, have his way with Lovely and Ginger as well! (A.K.A.: bonus booty). The Skipper's evil plot was foiled because he had underestimated his 1st mate. Gilligan was actually a brilliant detective who had been investigating nefarious goings-on at The Tropic Port, and had traced them to the Skipper and his gang of scoundrels. His bumbling goofy demeanor (a la Colombo) and seemingly silly high-jinks enabled him to thwart the Skipper at every turn, while at the same time keeping the other castaways from becoming alarmed. The Professor got hip to what was going down pretty quick, and assisted Gilligan in any way he could. Although most of the engineering ideas came from the Professor (coconut telephones, etc.), he actually had to consult Gilligan for a lot of his more hard-core science diversions, since Gilligan had PhDs in both nuclear physics and organic chemistry. Most of the sexual tension in the show arose from the 3-way love triangle between Gilligan, the Professor, and May Ann, who was a vacationing pole dancer from Iowa. Add your reply

It all started on a small sailing vessel (S. S. Minnow) at a port in Hawaii. The first mate (whose name was Gilligan [it's unknown if it was his first or last name]) was an experienced, but somewhat klutzy man. The Captain (Jonas Grumby A. K. A "Skipper') was a large, courageous man. The marine experience between the two sailors would turn out to be invaluable to the survival of the story to come. On this particular day, the Captain and his First Mate were taking five passengers on a sight-seeing tour. Among the passengers were a wealthy couple (Thurston Howell iii) and his wife (Eunice "Lovee" Wentworth Howell), a beautiful movie star (Ginger Grant), a professor (Roy Hinckley), and a beautiful, yet modest, farm girl from Winfield, Kansas (Mary Ann Summers). A couple hours into the cruise, a storm set in, setting the sailing vessel off course. The small vessel was tossed about in the tumultuous storm. The winds were blowing hard. Lighting pierced the sky and the thunder boomed loudly. The rain was relentless. Their little sight-seeing tour suddenly took a turn for the worst. The Captain and his First Mate fought hard to keep the vessel afloat. They had to assure the safety of their passengers at any cost. The storm lasted though out the night, leaving the crew and her passengers exhausted. By storms end, the vessel was beached on an uncharted, desolate island. It was fortunate that the vessel had been beached because there was a gaping hole in the starboard hull). Had the Captain and his First Mate been any less experienced, everybody would certainly have perished. The castaways befriended one another and soon became their own little community. They utilized most everything they could get their hands on. They had no electricity, no method of transportation, not a single luxury. I went on to become a science teacher, do postgraduate work on Hawaiian volcanoes and earn a Masters degree in Geoscience. I am very happy that they are bringing the oldies but goodies back on. The Ballad of Gilligan's Isle

"The Ballad of Gilligan’s Isle" is the opening theme song written by Sherwood Schwartz and George Wyle created to set the premise of "Gilligan's Island." Considered the most famous and most recognized TV theme song in television history, it was composed to replace the show's original calypso theme song created by future film composer John Williams , most famous for the signature scores of the "Superman," "Star Wars" and "Close Encounters" soundtracks (at this point. As a result of the changing theme, the original length of the S.S. Minnow 's voyage was changed from "a six-hour ride" to "a three-hour tour". Williams was also credited as the composer of the incidental music for the show from 1964 to 1965, replaced by Gerald Fried for the remaining 1965 to 1967 seasons. After the first season, the theme song was re-edited from "and the rest" to "the Professor and Mary Ann ", who were previously considered "second-billed co-stars" (meaning they received acknowledgement during the closing credits only), but Bob Denver , who played Gilligan , personally went to the studio and asked that the characters of Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells be added to the opening credits. Since his contract allowed him to choose where he could be placed in the credits, he was willing to have his name placed last to show his support to his co-stars. Although the studio was resistant at first, they relented and had the opening re-shot with the altered lyrics and the faces of Johnson and Wells added to the sequence; Denver remained the first actor credited. (Coincidentally, the sequence was also updated as the series was being converted to color.) According to Dawn Wells, it wasn't until years after the show ended that Denver's efforts were revealed. During the first season version, the theme song was recorded by The Wellingtons , who went on to appear in the Second Season episode, Don't Bug the Mosquitoes , but during the Second and Third Season , it was re-recorded by The Eligibles . Gilligan’s Island: Part 1, The Longest Three Hour Tour Begins

Setting Sail On September 26th 1964, Gilligan’s Island debuted on CBS, to almost universal disdain from the critics. The theme song told the story of the SS Minnow’s Skipper Jonas Grumby (Alan Hale Jr.), his dim-witted first mate Gilligan and their five passengers on an ill-fated three-hour tour off the coast of Hawaii. The passengers included: multi-millionaire Thurston Howell III (Jim Backus) and his wife who was nicknamed “Lovey” (Natalie Schaeffer), movie star Ginger Grant (Tina Louise), high-school Professor Roy Hinkley (Russell Johnson), and Kansas-born Mary Ann Summers (Dawn Wells). The show was envisioned by series creator Sherwood Schwartz as a microcosm of our society with all areas represented within the seven stranded castaways, forced to work together on a deserted isle.

The Journey Begins The series started with an episode entitled “Two on a Raft” which picked up where the theme song premise left off. After making their passengers as comfortable as possible, the Skipper and Gilligan set sail on a homemade raft in an attempt to find help. They sail for days and endure shark attacks and other mishaps along the way. They finally land on an island and find signs of life and become convinced that there are unfriendly natives nearby. Unknown to them, they have landed back on the same island where they started. The other castaways soon realize there are visitors on the island and believe them to be unfriendly natives as well. Both groups set up traps in a nearby cave and end up trapping each other by the time they realize what has happened. A typical set of circumstances for the castaways and just a taste of the silliness yet to come.

Taylor Swift Sang Her Entire 3-Hour Eras Setlist While Running on the Treadmill Every Day

Swift, who was named ‘2023 Person of the Year’ by Time, also stopped drinking alcohol to prepare for her tour.

Taylor Swift had to train a lot more than just her vocal cords to get in shape for her blockbuster Eras Tour.

The singer-songwriter, 33, explained just how much effort she devoted to supporting her health in the months leading up to the tour in an interview with Time , which named her Person of the Year. Getting ready required a special workout routine six months before the tour went on the road, Swift told Time .

“I knew this tour was harder than anything I’d ever done before by a long shot,” Swift told Time. “I finally, for the very first time, physically prepared correctly.”

Shows on the Eras Tour clock in at more than three hours, with more than 40 songs and 16 costume changes, Time reports. Swift said she started training six months before the tour opened in March.

“Every day I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set list out loud,” Swift told Time. “Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs.”

As if this wasn’t already enough of a workout routine, Swift said that her gym, Dogpound, created a cross-training program for her to incorporate weights, strength, and conditioning.

Swift also said she turned to choreographer Mandy Moore, who helped prep Emma Stone for those gorgeous dance sequences in La La Land, to get her in shape for the rigorous dance routines required on her tour. These extra dance practices started three months before the tour.

“I wanted to get it in my bones,” Swift said. “I wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans, and not lose my train of thought.”

About a month before the tour opened in Glendale, Arizona, Swift went there to start doing full run throughs in the stadium several times a week.

Taylor Swift Also Gave Up Alcohol for Her Eras Tour

And unlike previous tours when Swift said she acted “like a frat guy,” she said she stopped drinking to aid her rigorous preparations for Eras.

“I was really disciplined about drinking,” Swift said. “I stopped drinking for a couple months before the show except for on Grammy night, which was hilarious. I gave myself a fun night for that one.” Then she went right back to embracing sobriety for the rest of the tour. “Doing that show with a hangover, I don't want to know that world.”

At most stops on the tour, Swift performed three back-to-back shows. Swift credited her endurance in part to “dead days” for resting between each of these stops. “I do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there,” Swift said. “It’s a dream scenario. I can barely speak because I’ve been singing for three shows straight. Every time I take a step my feet go crunch, crunch, crunch from dancing in heels. But it’s the most fulfilled I’ve ever felt.”

Travis Kelce reflects on ‘honor’ of joining Taylor Swift onstage and how they came up with the idea together

Swifties have been buzzing since Travis Kelce made his onstage debut during girlfriend Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” show in London on June 23, and now, he’s sharing details about how his surprise appearance came to be.

On the July 3 episode of his “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce , the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed he originally thought of the idea to join Swift onstage at Wembley Stadium.

"It's very unlike me," the three-time Super Bowl winner joked. "I don't love going on stages."

His brother, who attended Swift's other London shows with wife Kylie Kelce , asked who came up with the idea.

"I initially mentioned it to Tay. I was like, 'How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the '1989' (portion of the show),'" Travis Kelce explained.

"She started laughing," he continued. "She was like, 'Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?'"

He told her he would "love" to be involved.

"I've seen the show enough — might as well put me to work here," he recalled.

"Sure enough, she found the perfect, perfect part of the show for me to come in. There was no bike in case I ran into somebody else or hit one of the dancers or anything. It was the safest option," the younger Kelce explained.

He also shouted out some of Swift's dancers, including Kameron Saunders, who is  the brother of Kelce’s former Chiefs teammate Khalen Saunders , and explained how the dancers are trying to bring Swift back to life during the newer "Tortured Poets Department" section of her show .

"(They're) trying to bring her back to life, get her ready to perform the rest of the show, so to speak — knowing she can do it with a broken heart, right?" he added, the latter part being a reference to lyrics from Swift's song "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart."

Jason Kelce added that song may be his "favorite."

"It's such a fun, playful part of the show," Travis Kelce said. "It was the perfect area, or perfect time, for me to go up there — just be a ham and have some fun."

He added he had "an absolute blast" and got to "pull out" one of his favorite moves, which was inspired by Jim Carrey's character's moves in "Dumb and Dumber."

"And then just made sure I played with Tay and got her makeup right," he said.

He said it was "an honor" just to be on the stage with Swift and her team of dancers and again shouted out Kam and how he won two Super Bowl titles with his brother, whom he also described as one of his "all-time favorite teammates."

Travis Kelce wasn't too nervous about messing up during his appearance and said, "You can do no wrong when Taylor's onstage." However, there was "one thing" he was hesitant about.

After walking onstage, he  carried Swift  to a red sofa and pantomimed getting the singer ready to continue her performance.

"Listen, the one thing I told myself is: 'Do not drop the baby. Do not drop this — do not drop Taylor on your way over to this damn couch.' The golden rule was: 'Do not drop Taylor getting her over to the couch,'" he recalled.

During his time on the stage, Travis Kelce also pulled out a heel-click dance move.

"About time my heel-click paid off," he said. "I've been doing that s--- since I was a f------ toddler."

Swift acknowledged Kelce's appearance during the "Eras Tour" in a social media post June 24 .

"I’m still cracking up/swooning over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut 🥰," she wrote, adding she's "never going to forget" these London shows. The singer performed for three nights in June at Wembley Stadium and will return for five more shows in August .

She played Mary's Song for the first time in 16 years. The pop star had not sung the song live since 2008, when she delivered a rendition of it at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Mary's Song was included on Taylor's self-titled debut album, which dropped in 2006 when she was still a rising teenage country star. 

The tune was part of a mash up with So High School from Tortured Poets Department and Everything Has Changed off Red and appeared to make the Super Bowl champion emotional.

The Grammy winner concluded the song with a lyric from Mary's Song. 'I'll by 87, you'll be 89 / I'll still look at you like the stars that shine / In the sky, oh my my my.'

That lyric has a new and special meaning since she's been dating Kelce. Both of them were born in 1989 and his football jersey number is 87. 

Kelce reunited with Swift on the latest leg of her worldwide Eras Tour in the Dutch capital and  also attended her recent shows in London and Dublin.

His attendance in Amsterdam on Friday night was confirmed when Swift performed 'Karma' and sang 'Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming home to me' – which she typically only does when he is there. 

Taylor and Travis delighted the singer's army of Dutch fans as they left stage holding hands Saturday, which was the final night of her Eras Tour shows in Amsterdam.

Fans waiting in the wings were anticipating the couple walking in front of them and went wild when they finally emerged.

Kelce was hyping his girlfriend up, waving his arms in the air to signal more cheers from the crowd for her.

Holding hands as they walked together, Swift continued to soak up the adoration as she waved goodbye to her Dutch fans as she prepares to take her show to yet another city.

Swift's next shows are in Zurich, Switzerland on July 9 and 10.

Taylor Swift Serenaded Travis Kelce During Third Eras Tour Show in Amsterdam

During the show, Swift was filmed by fans singing her hit “So High School,” seemingly directly at Kelce, who the song is supposed to be about. It was part of a mashup of “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)” and “Everything Has Changed.”

Though he missed her first night at Johan Cruijff Arena, Kelce was there on Friday and was seen leaving with Swift. The couple exited after the show and stopped to wave to fans. Kelce got particularly caught up, throwing his hands up to encourage them. Swift intervened and he reached over to her for a hug and a kiss.

Kelce has been making many appearances at Swift’s show as she makes her way through Europe. Last weekend, he was in Dublin for some performances and the weekend before he attended all three of her shows in London’s Wembley Stadium. On the third night in London, Kelce arrived with Swift’s parents, Scott and Andrea. He then made a surprise appearance on stage during the concert dressed in a full tuxedo and top hat as part of her transition skit for “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

On a new episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce talked about his big debut and having to carry his girlfriend off stage.

“I was up there with three professionals. You can do no wrong with Taylor on stage. [I kept telling myself], ‘Do not drop the baby. Hold onto the baby,’” he said. “She found the perfect part of the show to put me in. It was, like, the safest option.”

Travis Kelce Heads Backstage as Taylor Swift Sings 'Karma Is the Guy on the Chiefs' During Amsterdam Show

Travis Kelce knows how to make his mark at Taylor Swift 's shows!

On Friday, July 5, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, attended Swift's Eras Tour show at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam. There, he was spotted by delighted fans heading backstage just as Swift, also 34, changed the lyrics to her song "Karma" to reference him.

In a clip posted on TikTok , Kelce could be seen walking from the audience toward the side of the stage as a fan excitedly shouted, "It's Travis!"

Waving at concertgoers as he walked, Swift once again changed the lyrics of her song, singing, "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me."

Another clip posted on X (formerly Twitter) showed Kelce embracing someone in a huge hug before entering the backstage area.

Earlier in the night, Kelce was spotted sitting in what appeared to be a suite as his girlfriend performed. In several clips posted on TikTok, the athlete sat in the audience holding a beverage and posed with fans for photos .

"He was in a suite the whole show!!" one fan account captioned a first clip.

Later that same evening, Swift and Kelce were captured leaving the backstage area at the end of the show together.

A clip showed Kelce encouraging the crowd's cheers before putting his arm around his girlfriend and planting a sweet kiss on her head.

Swift and Kelce first sparked dating rumours in September 2023, when the 14-time Grammy winner attended a Kansas City Chiefs games. The couple then went public with their romance in October 2023.

Since then, the pair has supported one another in their respective careers on multiple occasions, with Swift attending more than a dozen of Kelce's NFL games , including the 2024 Super Bowl in February .

Kelce, meanwhile, has attended his girlfriend's Eras Tour shows across the globe, including ones in Singapore, France, Kansas City, Buenos Aires, Argentina and London — where he made his debut on stage during the show on Sunday, June 23 .   

At the time, the football player appeared on the Wembley Stadium stage with Swift during her "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" outfit change as part of the singer's The Tortured Poets Department portion of her show.

During the latest episode of his New Heights podcast — which he hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce — the sports star revealed the rule he set himself for the moment he carried his girlfriend on stage.

“The one thing I told myself is, do not drop the baby. Do not drop Taylor on your way over this damn couch. The golden rule was do not drop Taylor, get her to the couch safely,” Kelce explained.

Pink cancels concert due to health issue: 'Unable to continue with the show'

More than a year into her Summer Carnival Tour , Pink is hitting pause due to an unspecified health issue .

The Grammy-winning pop star announced Tuesday that her show scheduled show in Bern, Switzerland, is canceled due to doctor's orders.

"I am so sorry that I have had to cancel my show in Bern this Wednesday," she wrote in an Instagram caption . "I do everything I can to ensure I can perform for you every night, but after consultation with my doctor and exploring all options available, I’ve been advised that I'm unable to continue with the show tomorrow.

"I was looking forward to being with you and making memories with you and sharing our show with you and am so disappointed that we have to cancel," she added. "Sending love and health to you all, and I really hope to see you again soon."

All purchased tickets will be refunded, Pink said.

She did not reveal details about her next show in Copenhagen, scheduled for Saturday. Her tour will head to Amsterdam, Brussels and Stockholm, as well as several German cities, through the end of the month.

USA TODAY has reached out to the singer's representatives for comment.

On her Summer Carnival Tour, in support of her ninth studio album, "Trustfall," Pink performs hits from across her two-decade musical career and fills stadiums with impressive visuals, from aerial acrobatics to over-the-top costumes.

The tour launched in Europe last June and circled North America from July through early October 2023, and in February, Pink embarked on a new leg of the tour in Australia and New Zealand.

After wrapping up in Europe, Pink is slated to launch the second North American leg of the tour in St. Louis, Missouri, on Aug. 10.

Speaking to USA TODAY in 2023 about the inspirations behind "Trustfall," Pink revealed making the album "was a three-year process."

"With the pandemic and my dad’s passing and then any time your kid is sick,  it distills down what is important . She continued, "And then, what are my priorities? My priorities are to live an authentic human experience and be completely transparent about it and to love and cuddle with my kids as long as they’ll let me."
