42nd Street Revival Tour 2015

42nd street - 2015 - us tour history , info & more.

Tulsa Performing Arts Center [Chapman Music Hall]

The quintessential backstage musical comedy classic, 42nd Street is the song and dance fable of Broadway with an American Dream story and includes some of the greatest songs ever written, such as "We're In The Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Shuffle Off To Buffalo," "Dames," "I Only Have Eyes For You" and of course "42nd Street." Based on a novel by Bradford Ropes and Busby Berkeley's 1933 movie, 42nd Street tells the story of a starry-eyed young dancer named Peggy Sawyer who leaves her Allentown home and comes to New York to audition for the new Broadway musical Pretty Lady. When the leading lady breaks her ankle, Peggy takes over and becomes a star. With a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, music by Harry Warren and lyrics by Al Dubin, this sparkling new production will be directed by co-author Mark Bramble and choreographed by Randy Skinner, the team who staged the 2001 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival.

The fifth installment of Muny Magic at The Sheldon, The Muny's bi-annual showcase of favorite Muny artists, will be October 18 & 19 at 7:30 p.m. at The Sheldon Concert Hall.

Good morning, BroadwayWorld! Because we know all our readers eat, sleep and breathe Broadway, what could be better than waking up to it? Today's big news: 42nd STREET takes its show on the road!

A product of the 1933 Warner Brothers film, 42nd Street didn't hit the stage until 1980. It was then that the production won the Tony Award for 'Best Musical' and is currently Broadway's 14th longest running show. Since, it has had success all over the world and last night saw a cast of sixty young people tackle the show at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham as part of Stage Experience.

The Morrison Center, in collaboration with MagicSpace Entertainment, is proud to announce its exciting Fred Meyer Broadway In Boise 2015-2016 Season. This season's lineup includes something for everyone.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is rolling out plans for its 30th Season, beginning with the 2015 - 2016 Broadway line-up. It will be a year of extraordinary artists, blockbuster shows and world renowned companies: great dance and Broadway hits, jazz, cabaret and classical music, family entertainment plus many special guests and events.

42nd Street Moon, San Francisco's only resident professional musical theatre company, has announced the lineup for its 22nd season of presenting rare and uncommon musical theater. Says Producing Director Stephanie Rhoads, "For 2014-2015, we're offering ESCAPADE! - a season of capers, sprees, hijinks, japery, and intrigues, to help audiences escape their day-to-day troubles with five spectacular American musicals from Broadway greats such as Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, Stephen Sondheim, Charles Strouse, Richard Maltby, Sandy Wilson, Frank Loesser, George Abbott, Dorothy Fields and Arthur Laurents."

Theater Review: 42ND STREET (National Tour at Pantages Theatre Hollywood)

THE LAND OF 10,000 TAPS

Call us saps or suckers but we can’t, it seems, get enough of “The Understudy Who Becomes A Star.” Not when the sweet and satisfying story is stuffed with thrills like “Lullaby of Broadway” and “Young and Healthy.” Some clichés justify themselves, if only because nothing less than hokey can fill the sentiment completely.

The Company of 42ND STREET -National Tour

When Busby Berkeley’s 1933 film classic 42nd Street (with added songs from the catalog of Harry Warren and Al Dubin added to their already superb score) became in 1980 a successful, Tony-winning musical (the last offering from the great Gower Champion), it proved you don’t need a Depression to justify a good time (though, thanks to the 1%, the number “We’re in the Money,” with its giant rolling coins, sounds more like wishful thinking than ever).

42ndStreet 321

Over 80 years later, Peggy Sawyer, the tap-dancing chorus girl from Allentown who makes it big on the Great White Way, replays her all-American success story in another electric revival. It’s Cinderella with tap shoes instead of glass slippers. Mark Bramble’s non-Equity touring revival pulls out all the showbiz stops to deliver a spanking old-school staging packed with sheer moxie, boffo savvy and pure pizzazz. Even Randy Skinner’s revolving choreography (“gold diggers of 2016”?) artfully imitates the motions of Busby Berkeley’s overhead cameras.

42ndStreet_199

Peppy, perky, breezy and campy in the cutest way, Troika Entertainment’s 150-minute 42 nd Street also preserves the film’s hungry edge and desperate-to-please energy. The big change from screen to stage is to downplay the chirpy Ruby Keeler-William Powell romance between plucky chorus girl and smiling juvenile and to play up–to please original producer David Merrick–Peggy’s fixation on her hard-boiled, control-freak driven director Julian Marsh. Regrettably, it mars the democratic and downhome romance between boy-next-door Billy and unassuming Peggy. It also gets in the way of the show’s chief interest: Peggy overcoming her shyness, discovering her undeniable talent and selling it–along with the show Pretty Lady –to Philadelphia’s Arch Street Theatre, New York’s 42 nd Street Theatre, and the world.

The Company of 42ND STREET National Tour

The plot, patched together from a slew of Warner Bros. musicals by Mark Bramble and Michael Stewart, has a hole in it as big as Times Square: If only for insurance purposes, no Broadway-bound production, Great Depression or not, could afford not to have an understudy for the leading lady from the first day of rehearsals—or rely on one sugar daddy for financing. Still, this tribute to the “glittering gulch” of Times Square is as fine a hymn to showbiz solidarity and team spirit as A Chorus Line . It glows with solid showmanship in this eye-popping, heart-pounding, knowing and loving revival. Echoing the showy sets from past Broadway production revivals, it may misstep with the usually mirrored “Shadow Waltz,” here clumsily done with silhouettes on a screen. But the awesome staircase of the Broad Street terminal, where “Lullaby” gets hoofed out, supplies its own swooping and soaring spectacle (although Beowulf Boritt’s trimmed-down set included a train station backdrop that wavered with the wind of some two dozen dancers).

42ndStreet_309

The opening tap dance rouser, an audition made in heaven, is enough to bring down the house. But the edifice continues to tumble with the Ziegfeld-florid spectacle of “Dames,” the chaotic precision of “Getting Out of Town,” the marquee-bright splendor of the title song, and the vaudeville hijinks of “Shuffle Off to Buffalo” (complete with tiny sleeping cars that revealed chorus girls in salacious lingerie). The many chorus boys and chorines are worth their weight in Kruggerands.

The Company of 42ND STREET National Tour.

Carrying the show as no understudy ever could is Caitlin Ehlinger, no platinum-blond Peggy Sawyer but a bumptious brunette whose inexhaustible tap dancing and lyrical assurance can only improve on Ruby Keeler’s wooden original. (Of course, she goes in a chorus girl but she comes out a star.) Sumptuous tenor Blake Stadnik, as her adoring but muted Billy, smilingly exploits what’s left of a role that was virtually handed over to Julian. Matthew J. Taylor plays the director with the right mix of messianic rigor and paternal regard, but Julian remains a character who seems warmer on the page than he ever is in life. As the descending diva Dorothy Brock, who Peggy replaces as inevitably as Eve Harrington does Margo Channing, Kaitlin Lawrence blends bitchiness with class. Britte Steele is all brassy broad, and Steven Bidwell is a mousy second banana, as the songwriting team and performers Maggie Jones and Bert Berry. But even in this “c’mon, kids, let’s put on a show” make-believe context, some of the characterizations could have been toned down by Bramble, who recreates Champion’s original direction.

42ndStreet_487

Ensconced on the giant Pantages Theatre stage, the proscenium set looks a tad shrunken. But, within its arch and burnished in the glow of Ken Billington’s footlights, Boritt’s inventive and fast-moving set pieces illustrate every song as richly as its lyrics. His pop-up picturebooks perfectly complement Roger Kirk’s time-travelling costumes, Depression elegant in their flouncy escapism.

Kaitlin Lawrence, Blake Stadnik in 42nd Street.

Above all, there’s the tap dancing, the heartbeat of happiness. In “Keep Young and Beautiful,” “With Plenty of Money and You,” “There’s A Sunny Side to Ev’ry Situation,” and “I Only Have Eyes For You,” this special step fuses effortless aplomb with a degree of difficulty to rival any corps de ballet’s tandem arabesques. It’s the perfect exponent and incarnation of the youth and hunger of driven dancers—both in 1933 and 2016. Shuffle off to Hollywood Boulevard.

Review: 42nd Street (Sadler's Wells & UK Tour)

Review by Daz Gale

The annual big summer musical at Sadler’s Wells is always something to look forward to with South Pacific and Singin’ In The Rain entertaining audiences (and both blowing me away) over the past two years. For this year’s musical it’s a big production of a truly iconic show as 42nd Street returns to London before shuffling off on a huge UK and Ireland tour. It has some big (tap) shoes to fill though when compared with not just last year’s summer musical at Sadler’s but the still quite recent West End revival which remains one of my personal favourite shows I’ve seen. That said, I was keen to see what this new production could bring to an absolute classic – so let’s get on with it and meet those dancing feet.

42nd street the tour

The stage musical adaptation of 42nd Street was first seen on Broadway in 1980 and arrived in the West End four years later. Based on the 1933 movie (itself based on the 1932 novel by Bradford Ropes), it has seen multiple revivals in the decades since it premiered, most recently concluding a two-year run at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2019. The show tells the story of a brand new fictional musical ‘Pretty Lady’ as it embarks on its journey to the Broadway stage with its leading characters including Dorothy Brock – a star who isn’t quite as talented as the others on that stage, and new chorus girl Peggy Sawyer who is keen to get started in the industry but has no idea how big her star is about to shine.

Produced by Curve who are known for their high quality and often bold productions of well-loved musicals, with Billy Elliot and Beautiful two recent examples, this latest production of 42nd Street is no exception, exhibiting exceptional production value that will adapt itself for the size of the stages it visits on the tour that follows this London season. Robert Jones set design keeps a backstage aesthetic that effortlessly transforms into scenes from ‘Pretty Lady’ and back to various places backstage going from glitzy to drab in a mere moment, but always visually exciting. Roberts costume designs are equally beautiful, notably different enough from the most recent West End production but still distinctive in their appearance so they have no trouble fitting in.

42nd street the tour

Jonathan Church directs the action beautifully, making beautiful use of the space, but it is Bill Deamers choreography and musical staging that makes 42nd Street burst with life. While keeping certain elements of the show from Gower Champion’s original direction and choreograraphy, Bill has added his own creations into the mix to form fresh and new sequences that always keep the genius level he is known for but this time to even more jaw-dropping effect.

42nd Street is nothing without its dance sequences and here it is every bit as sensational as you would hope – from the title number ‘42nd Street’ to a quite possibly better than ever ‘We’re In The Money’, it’s these big dance numbers that really elevates this show into something special and the choices in this production are every bit worthy of the shows timeless legacy.

42nd street the tour

Every production element in 42nd Street is executed flawlessly with particularly inspired use of lighting from Ben Cracknell – especially in one musical number which sees an incredibly rapid use of spotlights from one cast member to the other, all delivered with expert precision. Jon Driscolls projection adds a new element to the show, transforming the stage in a way I imagine will suit it on the road around the UK, while the crystal clear sound design from Ian Dickinson and Gareth Tucker allows the glorious sound of the tap numbers to play out to its full potential.

42nd Street is a classic and a big part of that is due to its content. Michael Stewart and Mark Brambles book takes a fairly thin premise and squeezes it for everything it’s worth, fabulously balancing the show within a show structure without ever confusing matters. As for the music from Harry Warren and lyrics from Al Dubin, they are as timeless as it gets with many recognisable songs multiple generations have grown up with. ‘I Only Have Eyes For You’, ‘Shuffle Off To Buffalo’ , ‘We’re In The Money’ and ‘Keep Young And Beautiful’ all performed phenomenally. As for ‘Lullaby of Broadway’ and ‘42nd Street’ itself, these are among some of the greatest musical theatre songs ever written and as such are obvious standouts during this show.

42nd street the tour

I’ve established the basic essence of 42nd Street is fantastic enough and this new production more than lives up to its high standard and, thankfully, the cast are also at the same level with some truly outstanding talents making up the characters in this production. Ruthie Henshall is at her fabulous best as Dorothy Brock. Having to reign in her own remarkable talents to reflect Dorothys less than blessed dancing abilities, she is an absolute marvel to behold – comic and captivating. A force to be reckoned with, she is suitably missed in the second act when she only makes a fleeting appearance.

Adam Garcia delights with an energetic performance as Julian Marsh. Played more likable than the last production I have seen with certain elements of his character toned down, Adam gives a commanding performance which culminates with him showcasing his own theatrical gifts at the climax of the show. Josefina Gabrielle and Les Dennis form a formidable double act as Maggie Jones and Bert Barry with precise comic timing and performances that never fail to raise a smile. Josefina in particular is a revelation, making the most out of a role that sometimes gets lost in certain productions but completely stands out in this one.

42nd street the tour

Nicole-Lily Baisden swaps one tap-dancing show for another. While she may have wowed audiences with her sweet performance in Anything Goes , she really gets to showcase her impressive talents here in a truly winning performance as Peggy Sawyer. An incredible dancer with bundles of charisma, she gives an assured and likable performance that easily eclipsed some of the bigger names in the cast and left no doubt who the true star of this production is and deservedly gave her the final bow (righting the wrong of the previous production).

Sam Lips gives a fine performance as Billy Lawlor, displaying a beautiful singing voice while Alyn Hawke is another standout as Andy Lee. A show like 42nd Street relies on its ensemble to bring it to life and with that in mind, every single performer in this cast is amazing in their own right. The ability to work together like a well-oiled machine, the precise nature of it is a testament to their abilities as performers in what must be one of the hardest working and greatest casts I have ever witnessed.

42nd street the tour

Markedly different from the 2017 West End revival but still distinctively 42nd Street , this latest production breathes new life into the show with inspired choices. All production elements come together seamlessly and flawlessly to create a show as spectacular as ever. When you factor in the truly stunning cast, you have a show that is impossible to fault. This is up there with the greatest productions of 42nd Street and in some respects might be better than ever before. Absolutely perfect, this is musical theatre at its very best.

42nd Street plays at Sadler’s Wells until 2nd July. Tickets from https://www.sadlerswells.com/whats-on/42nd-street/

Taylor Swift’s Backup Dancer Was The Real MVP By Helping Her Through A Stage Malfunction, And There’s Video

How dare you think it's romantic, leaving me safe and stranded.

Taylor Swift singing Shake It Off in The Eras Tour concert film.

The Eras Tour has been making its way around the world for over a year now, so at this point Taylor Swift and her crew of dancers and backup singers know their routines like the back of their hands. However, things don’t always go as planned, and whether Swift is making jokes through a wardrobe malfunction or trying to clear water off of her piano while performing surprise songs in a rainstorm, she’s proven that she can adapt to unexpected situations. During the Saturday stop in Dublin, Ireland, however, it was backup dancer Jan Ravnik who was the real MVP during a stage malfunction -- and there's video of the whole situation.

Taylor Swift found herself stranded on a raised platform on stage as she performed part of the new set from The Tortured Poets Department . The platforms around her that had formed a staircase lowered to stage level, but the singer’s remained about 5 feet up. She briefly looked around before realizing that Jan Ravnik had come to help. Check out the moment captured by a fan on X (Twitter) below:

JAN TO THE RESCUE AFTER THE STAGE MALFUNCTIONED pic.twitter.com/UW1hk1QHJF June 29, 2024

Thankfully Jan Ravnik isn’t “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” because he was able to swoop Taylor Swift up and deliver her safely to the stage, and she didn’t even miss a note. Talk about two professionals! In fact, their improvisation was so smooth that the crowd seemingly didn’t even react to the technical malfunction.

Swifties were quick to praise the dancer in the comments of the post, saying:

  • And he put her down so gracefully omg – adoraweisz
  • He made it look flawless omg – yvelitza13
  • It was barely noticeable because Taylor & Jan reacted so smart & so quick, no panic on the Eras Tour – PaulaFreese
  • what a man – canubaileeveit
  • And that’s why we Stan him – tswiftth0

There’s no questioning that Jan Ravnik is one of Swifties’ favorite dancers, and it wasn’t long ago that he encountered his own harrowing moment on the Eras Tour. In the opening moments of a show in Edinburgh, Scotland — during which the dancers take the stage with large fans on their backs — Ravnik was nearly blown over by strong winds and had to be helped by another member of the crew.

Certainly anything can happen when a live performance is involved, and the June 29 incident wasn’t the first stage malfunction Taylor Swift has seen on the Eras Tour. Back in July 2023, the “So High School” singer had to sprint backstage when a technical difficulty prevented her from being lowered beneath the stage for a quick wardrobe change. Swift even had jokes about that one, commenting on the viral TikTok video .

It’s funny to see these unexpected moments happen, and as a Swiftie myself, I love knowing that Jan Ravnik and the rest of the Eras Tour crew have Taylor Swift’s back to keep her safe when things go wrong. While we wait on the next viral “Errors Tour” moment, be sure to stay up to date on all of Swift’s upcoming projects , and you can continue to stream Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) on Disney+, one of the best streaming services .

32 Perfect Taylor Swift Street Style Outfits

She's the master of the public stroll—with pitch-perfect outfits to match.

taylor swift street style travis

There's no segment of celebrity life that Taylor Swift hasn't conquered—from Easter eggs in her content to her deepening relationships with fans to her (oft-discussed) dating life. She gives us just enough to keep us interested, but we're always wanting more. Her street style is no exception: Over the course of her long career, she's had various "eras" to go along with her musical movements—from soft and feminine, to chic and business-like, to "fashion-girl" edgy. Swift is rarely afraid to try something new, and her everyday sartorial style is a real feast for the eyes.

Part of the basis of the appeal is Swift's "eye candy" (i.e., the person she's currently dating) or "gal pal" (the BFF she's going out with) that accompanies the outfit. Even when she knows that she'll be photographed, she does an impressive job of making all her street style sightings feel spontaneous—as if she's just like us, only cooler and better dressed. We usually catch glimpses of her out and about in New York (where she owns property), but we've also seen her edgy LA street style too and other formal events. Swift really kicked her street style into high gear in the 2020s, and her fashion-forward looks have been a blessing to witness.

Below, 32 of Taylor Swift's best street style outfits—this is just a smattering of many, many outfits to choose from. There are even Easter eggs in her outfit choices; I may not have spotted them all, so keep an eye out for them!

With Joe Alwyn in New York, 2019

taylor swift street style joe

The haphazard sparkles on Swift's Libertine trousers are a little unusual for the star—she tends to prefer patterns that are bigger and/or bolder—but it's actually her SNL performance look. Also, you can't fault her for matching with Joe Alwyn ! They're wearing matching black oversized blazers, and the brown in her pants match the brown in his shoes.

With Selena Gomez in Los Angeles, 2015

taylor swift street style selena

I'm not...totally sold on the harness, but look at the cool graphic tee! Swift really loves "Fight Song," and she even had Rachel Platten (who released the debut single in 2015) perform the song with her during her 1989 tour. So this is a) a reference to Swift's adoration of the song, and b) a tour tie-in. Synergy!!

With Matt Healy in New York, 2023

taylor swift street style matt

Leaving aside the short-lived relationship with Matt Healy, Swift's fun choice of sweater—a vintage NYU shirt that fans went wild buying off the official store—was paired with a micro pleated miniskirt and tan flats. Per PopSugar, the Tod's bag is "a nod to her 2014 style when she notoriously sported the Italian brand's Stella tote." Always referencing!

In Los Angeles, 2016

taylor swift street style leopard

Swift has magnificent taste in outerwear, and this edgy leopard-patterned coat is absolutely no exception. She paired the look with shorts—the better to show off her long, long legs—and impressively high platform sandals. As is often the case, she donned a red lip to take it over the top.

Attending the Republic Records MTV VMA 2022 Afterparty, New York, 2022

taylor swift street style stars

We don't always see the "graphic party outfit" look from Swift, but I really enjoy it—especially since she is literally a star. After taking home three awards, it was time to party in a shaggy white coat and Moschino mini romper(!) and glittery platform heels. Never, ever forget the red lip!

In New York, 2011

taylor swift street style red

Ignoring the nude platforms (trendy at the time but now a bit dated), I really love this belted red dress. It felt like we really got an impressive style evolution from Swift in the '10s, where she really started to evolve from teen star into mega-mega-superstar adult.

In New York, 2012

taylor swift street style gold

Even though in her Red era Swift started going with blunter hairdos, edgier outfits, and a generally cool-girl style, she still opted for feminine pieces when headed to more formal events. With the gold sparkles in the dress perfectly matching her golden hair, Swift also trades her signature red lip with a softer mauve.

In New York, 2009

taylor swift street style yellow

This mustard-y yellow Kate Spade coat (in a color she loves, with good reason) has enoooormous buttons in traditional '00s fashion. This is a sweet look at the star's early style: long, luscious wavy hair, a polished and feminine style, but still with a little personality—check out the patterned tights!

In New York, 2016

taylor swift street style stripes

Now those are some tall sandals! (I could never, but she's rocking 'em effortlessly.) The pretty purple mini goes beautifully with the multicolored striped shirt—side note: is this the perfect fall outfit??—and brown suede peep-toe sandals, as well as the wine-colored lip she's blessed us with.

In New York, 2015

taylor swift street style

Swift moved to New York in 2015, and we started getting more sightings of the well-dressed star out and about. This was a particularly polished time for the star, and this color-blocked outfit, with pastel blue, yellow, and peach all in attendance, is no exception.

In New York, 2014

taylor swift street style flowers

I'm always impressed at Swift's ability to look calm, cool, and composed—even when hordes of delighted fans are mere feet away from her. This fit and flare dress (which apparently was sold at Urban Outfitters and probably sold out in three seconds) was all the rage at the time.

In New York, 2023

taylor swift street style strawberry

The Taylor Swift of 2023 brought together trends and evolved her style in new and interesting ways. Take a floral red corset top, black denim shorts, chunky slingbacks, tortoise sunglasses, and a matching red lipstick, and you've got "Eras" Taylor Swift all the way.

taylor swift street style black

Pulling from several 2020s trends—the wide leg pants, the baseball cap as fashion statement, the knit top, the slouchy shoulder bag, and the chunky boots—Swift also manages to make the look her own with some thin braids and a surprisingly nude lip color.

taylor swift street style mini

The 2000s pleated mini came back into fashion in the 2020s, and Swift jumped on board. Technically this looks to be a Free People skort, which combined with a The Row collared shirt is a nice high-low moment. Chunky Oxfords and a baseball cap kept things super-casual.

taylor swift street style black

Never in my life will I ever be able to rock peep-toe booties like this! Swift wisely opts to keep things simple for the rest of the look: Simple black mini, tan trench, and pretty nude lip (I really need to figure out what makeup brand that is, because it's very cute).

taylor swift street style black white

I enjoy the posing here, with Swift glancing back as if she's about to head into a glamorous meeting, Sex and the City - style. This graphic black, brown, and white Jonathan Simkhai dress was a departure from her style at the time—although she has long loved that pink Prada bag.

With Keleigh Sperry in New York, 2023

taylor swift street style athleisure

This is a very- Princess Diana -esque take on athleisure, and it's super-fun. Swift sports a Shania Twain graphic tee, exercise shorts, and low sneakers on the way to a studio recording session. If you didn't know, her pal Keleigh Sperry (pictured) also starred in the music video of "Taylor Swift: I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor's Version)."

taylor swift street style boots

Swift, on the way to support Travis Kelce at a football game, is sporting a fun leather-on-leather look. The Christian Louboutin red-bottom heels (a rewear!) matching the red lip is a nice touch, but the standout is the bedazzled Area shorts that actually have a cutout at the lower back.

taylor swift street style tan

Actually, this might be the most fall outfit of all time (even though this photo was taken in spring). Plum-colored pants, an upscale tan short coat, plaid scarf and top, brown boots, black bag, and (of course) red lip: a classic matchy-matchy mid-10s Taylor Swift look.

With Gracie Abrams in New York, 2023

taylor swift street style blazer

Swift and Gracie Abrams performed “I Miss You, I’m Sorry” live during the Eras Tour in 2023 (and Abrams opened for Swift on the same tour). This pic was taken after both were nominated for 2024 Grammys; The two pals are stylish, both in chunky loafers and Swift in a white dress and navy jacket.

taylor swift street style tunic

Swift loooooves a mini. So this black Stella McCartney tunic dress is right up her alley. On the way to celebrate the re-release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) with friends like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds , nbd, she also wore a Tod's crossbody and Prada boots—according to fans, a rewear!

taylor swift street style coat

Swift's nighttime looks are always really, really polished. See also: This tan coat, striped and polka-dotted tights (she loves polka dots, and this is fun and subtle) and Louboutin booties. According to fan sites, she was having dinner with Kanye West ; Frankly, this is a great dinner outfit.

In Los Angeles, 2014

taylor swift street style shorts

Lest anyone be laboring under the impression that "modern-polished" Taylor Swift is a recent thing, just know she was out here looking cute all the way back in 2014. As is standard for her, the red Oxfords match her red lip, and the whole thing feels like "I'm on the way to a meeting, cool girls only."

In New York, 2022

taylor swift street style pinstripe

What do you wear when strolling around the Upper West Side? Pinstripe separates, of course! Loving the trademark Swift red shoes (Prada pumps) and red lip, but nothing's cooler than a Max Mara vest and trousers. Swift even cheerfully waved to fans as she exited the car.

taylor swift street style white

A matching set in summer is the cutest way to stay cool. On her days off from touring, Swift sported this Ralph Lauren top and skirt. She kept things neutral in her bag and shoes, and then added a pop of color with blue Larkspur & Hawk earrings—and red lip, natch.

Swift shows us all that the skort, once thought to be a style for 8-year-olds, is now an item of clothing for adults too! (And they're quite comfy!!) Yellow bag, yellow shoes, white lacy Doên top, Free People skort: Swift made waves for her super-stylish summer outfit.

Ooooo head-to-toe houndstooth! In case you're curious, these are Manolo Blahnik boots and Carmen March top, pants, and jacket set. Usually, tonal dressing is all one color, often neutral but sometimes bolder. Somehow Swift pulls off the seemingly impossible—all-over pattern dressing.

I cannot help but love this purple velvet Etro suit. This is technically red carpet as much as it is street style, as Swift was there to promote her All Too Well: The Short Film . So as not to compete with the richness of the color, she wears a pretty pink lip (she took her mask off when she got inside).

With Tom Hiddleston in LA, 2016

When Swift dated Tom Hiddleston in 2016, it immediately became iconic amongst fans, dubbing the relationship "HiddleSwift." Fans got a few glimpses at their stylish pairing; Here, Hiddleston's blue jacket matches with her sweater and plaid mini (gotta love that LV bag, too).

With Sophie Turner in New York, 2023

Without ever having to say a word to the press, Swift showed support for her pal Sophie Turner , in the midst of a contentious divorce with Joe Jonas, by taking her out to dinner. The simple act proved wildly popular, and Turner and Swift were spotted again with a group of girls (including Selena Gomez). Love the thigh high boots and plaid mini, too.

With Travis Kelce at the 'SNL' Afterparty, New York, 2023

Fans may have never been more excited than after hearing about Taylor Swift's relationship with Travis Kelce. Here, at the SNL afterparty, the two aren't exactly matching, per se, but still look great together (Swift is in a Versace corset top and gray plaid Gant trench coat, if you're curious).

With Travis Kelce in New York, 2023

Kelce and Swift are wearing pretty different outfits here (I suppose you could argue that his black tee matches with her outfit), but for their date night they still look ultra-cute here, with Swift in a sheer print Jean Paul Gaultier top and brown mini and black boots from Louis Vuitton. Chef's kiss.
