2 Days 1 Night Selous from Zanzibar Itinerary

Day 1: pick-up and transfer to selous national reserve for a game drive.

Your adventure begins with a 6:00 AM pick-up from your Hotel in Zanzibar, followed by a flight to Selous Game Reserve, the flight takes 50 minutes. You’ll arrive at Selous around 7:00 AM and embark on a full-day game drive, complete with a boxed lunch. In the evening, enjoy dinner and stay overnight at Selous Kinga Lodge.

Day 2: Boat Trip, Walking Safari, and Return to Zanzibar

After breakfast, you’ll embark on a thrilling boat safari. Later, you’ll have lunch at the lodge and set out on a 2-hour walking safari. At 4:00 PM, it’s time to depart for Zanzibar, arriving at 5:30 PM. Our driver will be waiting to pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Detailed Itinerary: Selous Safari From Zanzibar

Day 1: uk to dar es salaam.

Leave the UK from the airport of your choice. Upon your arrival in Dar es Salaam , you will be greeted and transferred to your accommodation. Have fun at tonight’s dinner as you anticipate tomorrow’s start of your Selous safari.

Day 2: Travel to the Selous Game Reserve

You’ll be picked up at your hotel at dawn and driven to the airport for your flight to Selous National Park in a small plane. You’ll be picked up at the airport and driven to the lodge, where you’ll spend the next three nights. You made a good decision getting here early so you can fit in two game drives today.

Sable Mountain Lodge is located in the stunning Beho Beho Mountains, and will serve as your home for the night. There is a swimming pool where you may cool off from the day’s heat, and each of the individual rooms is located in its own secluded area. In the evening, head to the Land Rover’s Return bush bar for a meal and a G&T under the stars.

Days 3 & 4: Selous Game Reserve

The Selous Game Reserve is a large wilderness area that is nearly the size of Switzerland. You may expect to see lots of interesting animals on your twice-daily game drives, including lions and elephants. African Hunting Dogs, which were nearly extinct in the 1980s, can also be seen here in great numbers. You should consider it a great privilege if you are fortunate enough to see one of these stunning creatures, as their numbers are presently increasing quickly.

You’ll go on a walking safari, a boat safari, and a car safari. The Selous is a fantastic place to go on a boat safari, where you can silently float down the river in search of yellow storks hiding in the reeds or dozing hippos in the shallows. You’re also considerably less likely to encounter other vehicles and people in the Selous than you are in parks further north, such as the Serengeti. It’s hard to beat Selous for a lonely and wild safari.

Day 5: Fly to Zanzibar

Today you will take one last game drive in the Selous before making your way to the airfield for your flight to Zanzibar. You will be met at the airport and sent to a hotel in Stonetown, where you will spend the night.

Days 6 – 11: Stone Town & beaches

We have planned a trip of Stone Town, the old spice harbor, for this morning. Plantations of nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper may be found in the island’s interior, and Stonetown served as a trading hub for goods brought in from the African coast. This gathering of cultures over ages is amazing to observe.

And unwind! You’ve earned some time at the beach after that adventure. You have four days to unwind, so take advantage of the clear seas to go snorkeling or just soak up the African sun on the beach. We’ve thrown in a day trip on a traditional dhow so you can get up close and personal with the Tanzanian spice islands. Enjoy the sights of Zanzibar while sampling the native cuisine and looking for dolphins.

No matter how you spend your days on our idyllic island, you can always count on having a memorable evening eating seafood under the stars.

Classée au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO, la réserve de Selous est située dans le Sud-Ouest de la Tanzanie. Elle est aujourd’hui une des plus grandes zones protégées au monde avec 55 000 km², connue pour la diversité de ses animaux sauvages et des milliers d’oiseaux qu’elle abrite.

Jour 1 : Zanzibar – Selous

Tôt le matin, vous serez pris en charge à votre hôtel à Zanzibar pour rejoindre l’aéroport de l’archipel tanzanien, afin de prendre votre vol. Vous atterrirez directement dans le parc et pourrez débuter votre safari. Vous monterez à bord d’un véhicule à toit ouvert et accompagné de votre guide ranger. Vous partirez à la découverte des paysages qui vous entoureront et des célèbres animaux sauvages qui peuplent la réserve : lions, antilopes zébrées, girafes, buffles, gnous, zèbres… Vous pourrez alors les observer dans leur habitat naturel.

Vous prendrez votre déjeuner (sous forme de pique-nique) dans le parc et votre dîner au lodge dans lequel vous passerez la nuit.  

Jour 2 : Selous – Zanzibar

Après avoir pris votre petit-déjeuner au lodge, vous repartirez pour un safari. Vous rejoindrez la rivière Rufiji et vous embarquerez pour une promenade en bateau d'environ une heure sur le fleuve. La rivière parcourt la réserve de Selous d’Est en Ouest et alimente plusieurs lacs où les animaux viennent se reposer et s’abreuver. Vous profiterez du lever du soleil pour observer des crocodiles, des hippopotames et les troupeaux d'animaux qui viennent se ressourcer autour de la rivière. Vous serez au plus proche de la nature et profiterez d’un moment unique avec les animaux.

Après cette sortie de 2h, vous effectuerez une balade à pied dans la savane, accessible à tous, accompagné de bushmen, une tribu reculée locale. Enfin, vous rentrerez à votre lodge afin de profiter d’un moment de repos. Selon les horaires de la compagnie aérienne, vous partirez en fin de matinée ou dans l’après-midi pour Zanzibar et serez raccompagné jusqu’à votre hôtel. Si votre départ se fait dans l'après-midi, un déjeuner au lodge est compris dans votre safari.

During the week, Safari Run is the perfect refuge for kids to play, explore, and have a blast while parents take some time to relax, read a magazine, log onto our free Wi-Fi, or catch up with a friend all in a safe, clean and secure environment. All of our play areas are sanitized and walked through hourly to make sure your little ones enjoy playing in our safe and clean environment.

This is an unstructured play time where parent supervision is required, there is NO additional staff supervision. On our non-busier days your admission can start when you arrive. Busy days tend to be rainy days or holidays. Those days have been known to sell out so please plan accordingly. Open play time is recommended for ages 3-10.
