Something’s coming, something good.

Following the success of All Shook Up, Hyde Musical Society return to the stage in 2023 with the one of the most popular musicals of all time – West Side Story .

This masterpiece is filled with vibrant songs and dance routines including America ,  Tonight ,  Maria  and  I Feel Pretty ,  West Side Story  is still an audience favourite after more than six decades.

Set in 1950’s New York, this new production will feature dazzling choreographed numbers alongside flawless musical arrangements.

Based on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet,  West Side Story explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The story follows Tony and Maria, two young lovers from opposite sides of the street war. A story that will continue to be current in any age.

West Side Story first opened at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway in September 1957 to rave reviews and has continued to delight audiences ever since. We are delighted to be bringing it the Hyde Festival Theatre.

Joey McKneely directs an extraordinary revival of Stephen Sondheim’s well-known musical West Side Story, featuring Jerome Robbins’ original choreography. Based on Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story is the passionate tale that follows two lovers from different backgrounds who fall for each other, despite it being forbidden. Opening at Sadler’s Wells, West Side Story includes popular songs “Maria”, “Tonight” and “America”.

As a centrepiece of our 120th birthday celebrations, Birmingham Hippodrome is proud to present our first home-grown youth production for the main stage, West Side Story .

This fresh and dynamic reimagining of one of the most iconic musicals of all time, brings together an incredible cast of young and emerging performers from across the region – selected from over 1,000 that applied – working with a professional creative team, to bring this timeless story to life.

In this tale of teenage love, Tony and Maria find themselves caught between feuding communities, the ‘American’ Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks, as Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet takes to the streets and is transported to New York City.

Eight teams, including florida, tennessee and north carolina, have punched their tickets to omaha.

The 2024 NCAA baseball tournament is well underway, and the field for the College World Series is finally set. Eight teams have punched their tickets to the 2024 CWS. On Monday, only one spot remained between Georgia and NC State, and it was the Wolfpack who emerged victorious with an 8-5 decision. 

Florida ousted Clemson with a 13-inning victory on Sunday. Tennessee also advanced Sunday with a lopsided win over Evansville, which entered the weekend as the tournament's biggest underdog remaining. Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida State, Texas A&M, Virginia and Kentucky are the seven teams who have advanced to Omaha in the bracket.

The College World Series starts Friday, June 14. Here's a look at key dates, scores and the upcoming schedule.
