One of the newest and most thrilling ways to immerse yourself in the splendor of Grand Teton National Park , Bridger-Teton National Forest and the National Elk Refuge is by renting a single-seat all-terrain vehicle (ATV), or by joining a guided tour in a 2- or 4-seat utility terrain vehicle (UTV), also known as a side-by-side. These heart-pumping journeys allow visitors to explore regions around Jackson Hole not typically accessible by standard vehicular or foot traffic, often rewarding tour guests with a one-of-a-kind experience and unique opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy impressive vistas.

Get off the beaten path on a guided ATV tour!

Teton Vista Guided ATV Tour

Available from May through mid-September, these half-day excursions are a perfect fit for families looking to enjoy their first offroading experience or for visitors looking to fill a gap in their Jackson Hole itineraries with several hours of adventure. The tour begins just north of the town of Jackson in Bridger Teton National Forest, either at the base of Shadow Mountain or at Slide Lake. From there, you will embark on a two-hour ride — led by an expert guide — through mountain trails where you can enjoy stunning views of the Teton Mountains. Along the way, look for some of Jackson Hole’s signature wildlife to make an appearance, including bison, antelope and moose.

• Ages: 8 and older to ride, at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license to drive

• Time: 6 hours door-to-door (2 hours on trails)

Private Side-By-Side Tours

If you’re looking for a slightly more comfortable but still exciting all-terrain adventure, consider joining one of Scenic Safaris private side-by-side tours, available as either half- or full-day options. These street legal UTVs are perfect for those looking for a bit more comfort while still being able to enjoy the thrill of riding along rustic trails and crossing babbling streams. Since the tours are private, this is a great way to spend quality time with family and friends in the heart of the Wyoming wilderness.

The half-day side-by-side tour is available June 1 through mid-September and begins by traveling along the National Elk Refuge and Antelope Flats. From there, your guide will lead you to multiple Insta-worthy vantage points of the iconic, craggy peaks of the Teton Mountain Range, so be sure to remember your camera. During the ride, your expert guide will reveal interesting insights into the region’s history and natural landscape.

• Ages: 8 and older to ride, at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license to drive

• Time: 4.5 hours door-to-door
• Group Size: Up to 12 people (4 people per UTV)

If you’re looking to fill an entire day with offroad adventures that explore the remote wilderness around Jackson Hole, then the full-day side-by-side tour is the perfect fit. Similar to the half-day option, the full-day tour will take guests along National Elk Refuge, but will continue deeper into Gros Ventre Valley, ultimately reaching more remote spots in Bridger-Teton National Forest, such as Gunsight Pass and Crystal Creek.

ATV & Side-By-Side Rentals

If you have a vehicle that can tow and you’re interested in exploring Jackson Hole’s backcountry on your own schedule, consider renting an ATV or side-by-side from Scenic Safaris . Rental durations range from 2 hours to 2 full days, perfect for quick scenic rides through Grand Teton National Park or longer trips along the Greys River Range. Rentals can be picked up from the Scenic Safaris main office in Jackson, or at Turpin Meadows Ranch in nearby Moran, WY. Trailers are also available to rent.

ATV and SIDE-BY-SIDE RENTALS

Self-guided ATV’s and side-by-sides are available for half and full day rentals (ATV’s available full day only).  Please note that these machines are very popular and sell out weeks in advance.  Therefore, we HIGHLY recommend making reservations in advance or run the likelihood of not being able to secure a rental.  Rentals are available May 15th thru October 31, 2024 (weather permitting).

Five Person Street-Legal Side by Side (available beginning May 15, 2024, weather permitting)         Half Day rental at $249 + tax/fees (8 am to 12 noon -OR- 1 pm to 5 pm) Full Day rental at $349 + tax/fees (9 am to 5 pm) 5 person machines are non-refundable once confirmed with payment in full at time of booking – NO EXCEPTIONS.

Side-by-sides are street legal and do not need to be trailered.  You can get in and go!  You must by 21 years of age, with a valid driver’s license to depart from the Jackson rental location, 18 years of age with valid driver’s license to depart from the Alpine rental location.  Must be 16 years old with a valid driver’s license to drive once you are on a Forest Service Access Road.  Minimum age for passengers is 6 or 8 (varies by vendor) and must be out of a car seat – No exceptions .    

Full day rental hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., half day are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  

• Drivers must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license. If driver is to carry passengers under the age of 18 (“minor passengers”), then driver must be at least 25 years of age and the parent or legal guardian of the minor passenger.
• All passengers must be able to grasp handholds and firmly plant his or her feet on the footrests with their back fully against the seat back rest (this is about 4 feet tall). Minor passengers must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 25.
• A $50 cleaning fee may be applied upon return of rental.

2024 Self-guide ATV Pricing

All ATV’s are rented out of Alpine, Wyoming located 45 minutes south of Jackson.    Must be 18 with a valid driver’s license to operate an ATV.  Passengers must be age 8+.  Must be 25+ to carry a minor passenger.  

All ATV and Side-by-Side rentals have a 30-day cancellation policy, 5 seat rentals are non-refundable at time of booking. All cancellations are subject to a 20% JH Concierge cancellation fee, regardless of when cancellation occurs. 

ATV and Side-by-Side Guided Tours

This tour offered June 5 th , 2024 through October 15th, 2024  (weather permitting), is ideal for  adventurous beginner to intermediate riders and families. It boasts one-of-a-kind Teton views, as well as amazing ATV trails that wind through forested valleys and along spectacular open ridges.  Guests meet at the office at 9:00 am, follow your guide up to the trailhead in your own vehicle, and finish the day at the trailhead around 3:00 pm. A mid-day picnic lunch is included along a ridge overlooking the Teton Range. 

Guests must provide their own transportation to and from the trailhead.  Tour can be turned into a private tour for an additional $600 with just your group and the guide.

Caribou mountain side-by-side tour, departs from alpine, wyoming available may 8th through october 31st, 2024 (weather permitting)..

A beginner friendly side-by-side tour, Caribou Mountain Tour is a great way to explore the beautiful McCoy Creek trail system in Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Visit the remnants of Caribou City, a registered Idaho Ghost town, or explore Jensen Creek trail to Elk Mountain.  This tour travels back-country open access forest service roads through the Caribou Mountain Range crossing into Idaho. Snacks and refreshments are included.  This tour departs from Alpine, Wyoming, which is 30 miles South of Jackson Hole.  

Side-by-Side 2 Seat – Driver & Passenger $399 + tax/fees Side-by-Side 4 Seat – Driver & Passengers $599 + tax/fees Upgrade to a Private Tour – Add $600

2024 Watercraft Rental

All watercraft rental is out of alpine, wyoming .

We carry the 2024 Mastercraft NXT22 Wake Surf boat designed for every skill level. With room for up to 14 people (no more than 2100 lbs.) this boat features wake surf technology and the best wave in the industry, allowing you to fully customize your wakes and waves every time.  Bluetooth Audio with tower speakers.

Available for full day rentals only including delivery to the Blowout Boat Ramp 12 miles North of Alpine.  Fuel charged upon return at $8/gallon. Surf boards & water toys $60 each.  Time: 9:30 am -5:30 pm

14 Person 22′ Wake Surf Boat

Full day Monday thru Friday – $899 + tax/fees Full day Saturday/Sunday and holidays – $999 + tax/fees

2022 Sea Doo 9 Person Pontoon Boat

Our 22 Sea Doo with 170HP engines are available for full and half day rentals with a boat trailer included.  Can accommodate 9 people but no more than 1485 lbs.  Boats can be towed to Palisades Reservoir, utilizing any of the local boat launches or delivered to the waterfront for walk on boat access (for additional fee).  Lifejackets included.  Water skis, wakeboards and tubes available for an additional charge.  Full Day rentals 9:30 am to 5:30 pm  – Half Day Rentals (available Monday thru Friday only) 8:30 am to 1:30 pm or 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDS & KAYAKS

Inflatable kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, tubes and more delivered to your door.

Beginning May 25th thru September 25 th 2022, Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUP) and Inflatable Kayak (IK) rentals are available for daily rental, and are a great way to enjoy our National Parks and beautiful surroundings. Each package includes:

• Paddle(s), life jacket(s), hand pump, Grand Teton National Park boat 
• FREE delivery to local accommodations
• Accessories to each package are available (at an extra cost) and include:  River tubes, extra life jackets, dry bag, bear spray, electric pump (SUPs only).

Delivery is available from 7AM-7PM, seven days a week. Time slots from 4PM-7PM are available for “Evening Before” delivery at no extra cost.  Upon request, SUP’s will arrive inflated, and our friendly staff will even assist in securing them to the roof of your vehicle. 

All rentals must be available for return pick-up by 7PM on the last day of reservation.  Pick-up logistics will be discussed upon delivery. Clients will not be required to be present for pick-ups.

We can NOT deliver into the National Parks or to Forest Service Lands.  If you plan on taking rentals into Yellowstone, you will need to purchase a boat permit at the entrance gate.

All SUP, Kayak and tube rentals have a 72-hour cancellation policy.  All cancellations are subject to a JH Concierge 20% cancellation fee, regardless of when cancellation occurs.

No experience is necessary, as training is provided with rentals, but a valid driver’s license is required.

Where can I find Jackson Hole ATV trails?

If you have your own ATV, call the Jackson Ranger District and make sure you have the correct Wyoming ORV Permit and maps. Permits are available online . Here are a few ATV/OHV Trail Maps . You are responsible for knowing what trails are open to ATVs.

Here are a few suggested areas to take your ATV:

• Shadow Mountain: All of the roads (and some designated trails) on this mountain are open to ATVs. Located at the end of Antelope Flats Road north of Jackson. Open from Jun 1 to Nov 30.
• Gros Ventre Road: Past Slide Lake, there are a number of forest roads and trails open to ATVs. Roads are open from Jun 1 to Nov 30, while trails open from July 1 to early September.
• Mosquito Creek: 12 miles of roads welcome ATVs. Access via Fall Creek Road, just over 4 miles south of Wilson. Open from Jun 1 to Nov 30.
• Squaw Creek Trail in Alpine: This intermediate trail opens July 1st for ATV use. Access it via Greys River Road, about 4 miles upriver from Alpine.

Rental requirements.

Must be 21 years of age to rent and must have a current driver’s license and a credit card. Minimum passenger age for Snowmobile rentals: 13 years+ must ride in back, 5-7 years must ride in front. Riders between 16 and 21 years of age are required to be accompanied by an adult. Minimum passenger age for Side by Side rentals: 5 year old and up.
