Kilimanjaro Safaris While Pregnant?

Earning My Ears

  • Aug 9, 2008

We leave for WDW in less than three weeks, and I recently learned that I am pregnant. I'm super-excited, but definitely working on a major overhaul of our touring plans. I've eliminated the obvious: Everest, all Mountains, Dinosaur, ToT, etc. But one of my absolute favorite experiences is Kilimanjaro Safaris at AK. Does anyone know whether it is okay to ride Kilimanjaro Safaris while pregnant? I will be 12 weeks when we go. Thanks!

Congrats on your preggo news! Caution is always good here! Not sure how they rate the ride, but I didn't think it was too bad. It is a jeep ride going over bumpy roads, but I didn't feel it was too jarring. I'd be comfortable riding it if I was PG. However, if there is any high risk or concerns from your OB, then WDW can always wait until you can see it with new baby.

Neesy228

I would echo what the PP said about erring on the side of caution - especially if you're in a high risk category. However, that being said, I went on the Safari three times (my son loved the ride!) when I was 5 months along and I felt perfectly fine. It did not seem too rough for me.

It is always best to check with your doctor because your individual circumstance can be different from everyone else. With that being said, I went on the safari when I was about 11 weeks pg with my second child and was fine. If you are up front it is less bumpy (it is really no more bumpy than a bus ride). Also, when the baby is that small, they are still sheltered by your pelvic bones and well cushioned. BUT, if I had any risk factors I would not have chanced it (plus it was my second pregnancy so I kind of knew the ropes). My hubby wouldn't let me go on the racecars at MK, though! LOL...he was afraid I would get bumped! Congrats and have fun! Jill

I don't think it will be a problem. It really is no more bumpy then a bus ride or driving on a dirt road. Do check with your doctor first though, although that's always subjective too. I had one Dr. who was thrilled that I rode horses and was totally ok with me riding as long as I was comfortable, another midwife was not happy with me. I rode my horses through 12-14 weeks with both of my babies, the PP is right, at that stage they're still very protected.

Unless you have any special circumstances with your pregnancy in which you would need to be overly cautious, Safaris is totally safe. I rode it pregnant.

carcam51

I rode it both times I was pregnant. No problems. If you have a history of miscarriages or other pregnancy complications I might skip it but otherwise it should be fine.

I'm going to WDW in less than a month and I'll be 17wks. I'm planning on asking for the front row on the Safaris. It is in no way worse than airplane turbulence, and I know I've already driven through much bigger potholes! I wouldn't sit in the back though, it has the "back of the school bus" bumpiness to it.

JessicaFaye508

My aunt went on when she was pregnant, and she was due a month later! She was fine. Just make your own judgement and see what you can handle.

As everyone one has already said, you need to make the best decision for your own situation, but I'll share what I did. We were at WDW when I was 6 months pregnant. KS was the only ride with a pregnancy warning that I chose to ride in any of the parks. I figured if my 2 year old was allowed to ride it (as none of the other rides with a preggo warning would allow her to) it couldn't be too violent. After riding, I had no concerns that I had made the wrong decision-it wasn't any worse than driving down the back roads to get to my parent's farmhouse that I had done my entire pregnancy. Congratulations by the way!!!

If you are in doubt speak with your OB first and then make an informed decision. Having said that I rode KS when I was in all three trimesters and the latest I rode KS was when I was around 7 months pregnant. KS wasn't really that much bumpier than rodes that I traveled daily back and forth to work with all of the construction that was going on. If you sit in the front it tends to be less bumpy.

  • Aug 10, 2008

I rode KS 3 years ago while being 5 months pregnant. I remember thinking it was way bumpier that I remembered (and have always thought that since). That being said I still never felt like it was a problem. As others have said I wouldn't go on it if you have any indication of any sensitivities with your pregnancy -otherwise you should be fine. Have fun!

I talked to my OB before riding it, but I rode it when I was 8-9 weeks pregnant. Honestly, the "takeoff" and "landing" for It's a Small World was bumpier than the Safari was. I planned to ride the Safari again when I was around 20 weeks, but I ended up giving my fastpass to my dad instead. I would have been very comfortable riding it still at 20 weeks. Talk to your OB. My OB told me before my trip at 8-9 weeks that I could really ride just about anything. She said that after 16 weeks or so, it is more of an issue because the placenta could seperate or something? (Don't quote me though...it's been a couple of years and I definitely have foggy mommy brain).

I was prg when this ride first opened. (27 wks.) The sign said you shouldn't ride if you're pg so I didn't. When dh got off with ds then 3 he said it was no worse than riding in his p/u truck on a bumpy road. I was a bit sad to miss it esp since it was new. I would say it's a personal decision and discuss it with your MD.

I mentioned the drop and she was kinda shaking her body like it's not that bad. And thunder mtn rr she said I don't remember as much, but I dont think its that bad? I couldn't remember either what was the problem?(esp at 16 wks) She said use my judgement for those two rides. She said at 24 weeks you couldn't ride as many. I didn't ask but I guess I would guess the ones we were questioning would have been knocked out. I had printed the sheet of what the moderater had posted and the reasons why they weren't good and she said, yes that is exactly the concern! I said what are you concerned with? Don't quote me on this but I believe she said the jerking back and forth(backwards and forward) and the real quick continuous obvious stops? I didn't persue this question much because I felt I had my answers. Def. every case is dif if there are cases that differ from the normal. And every Dr. is different. I trust my Dr and I know she trusts me to make wise decisions on the few she left me with. Click to expand...

In 1999 I was 7 months when we went to Disney World. My ob told me not to ride anything with a warning on it. So I didn't. I think you should talk with your ob and then use your best judgement.

Expecting? Here’s 9 Things You Can Do While Pregnant at Animal Kingdom

safari animal kingdom pregnant

While the Magic Kingdom and Epcot Center are pretty friendly towards expectant mothers, being pregnant at Animal Kingdom presents a unique set of challenges. Many of the signature attractions feature high drops (Expedition Everest), bumpy roads (Kilamanjaro Safaris), or intense forces (Dinosaur)- all of which, of course, are unsuitable for an expectant mother. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the park and have an awesome day with your family!

Here are 9 things you CAN do while pregnant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

**Due to COVID-19, some attractions and experiences remain unavailable. Please check Disney’s website for updated attraction information before your visit.**

1.) It’s Tough To Be A Bug

safari animal kingdom pregnant

One of the first attractions you’ll encounter after entering the park is It’s Tough To Be A Bug – a 3-D movie starring characters from Disney’s A Bug’s Life . Using multiple animatronics, fog, and other effects; you’ll experience what it’s like to be the size of an ant.

Fair warning – many of the scenes and themes in this attraction are surprisingly dark and creepy. If you have other young kids, use caution before bringing them with you into this film. Otherwise, this a fun experience and completely safe for pregnancy.

2.) Na’vi River Journey

safari animal kingdom pregnant

The park’s newest section, Pandora – The World Avatar, features two amazing rides. While you won’t be able to enjoy the popular Flight of Passage attraction, you can absolutely take a trip through a bioluminescent forest on the Na’vi River Journey! Floating through this beautiful landscape, you’ll see many examples of Pandoran animals and plant life on your way to visit the Shaman of Songs (one of the most amazing audio animatronics I’ve ever seen).

If you’re traveling with small children, I will warn you that this ride (especially the load area) can feel very dark. When my son was young, it took a good bit of coaxing to get him onto the boat. Once the ride got going, however, both of my toddlers were entranced by the lights, animals, and music.

3.) Animal Trails

As you may have guessed from the name, Animal Kingdom includes plenty of live animal exhibits and habitats. While you’ll organically encounter many of these as you travel through the park, there are three specific trails offering a variety of unique environments and exotic creatures.

Discovery Island Trails

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Near the entrance of the park, the Discovery Island Trails take guests around the Tree of Life to discover some amazing animals! Observe creatures such as the ring-tailed lemur, Asian small clawed otter, and the red kangaroo.

Fun Fact: During one visit to these trails, I saw a tortoise that absolutely LOVED having his neck scratched! It was pretty awesome to watch!

Maharajah Jungle Trek

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Located in the Asia section of the park near Kali River Rapids, the Maharajah Jungle Trek is a beautiful trail with monkeys, an aviary filled with elegant birds, and even tigers!

One of my favorite animal exhibits on this trail is the bat habitat. However, Disney understands that not all people are as enthusiastic about these critters as I am. There’s a bypass for those not wanting to view these fabulous (and kind of creepy) animals!

Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Finally, you’ll find the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail near Kilamanjaro Safaris in Africa. This trail includes some of the most interesting animal habitats like a hippo area with underwater viewing and a research station with a naked mole rat display!

4.) Conservation Station

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Board a train (Yes, – even if you’re pregnant at Animal Kingdom – you can ride too!) through the backstage areas of the park to the Conservation Station! Upon arrival you can either visit the Affection Section (petting zoo with goats and other traditional animals) or venture inside the main building.

Once you enter, you’ll find a collection of windows highlighting Disney’s animal care and husbandry procedures. For example, through one window Guests can view Animal Kingdom’s veterinarians. Depending on that day’s schedule, you might even get a glimpse of an actual procedure. In another window, you can learn about the animals’ dietary needs and how Disney provides for them.

8 Things You Can Do While Pregnant at Universal Studios Florida

Fair Warning: One area does include various small reptiles and invertebrates. If you or anyone else in your party wishes to avoid viewing snakes, scorpions, millipedes, etc – simply steer clear of this window.

5.) Live Stage Shows

Animal Kingdom features some incredible live entertainment, including two Broadway-style stage shows.

**Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these shows are not currently running. Festival of the Lion King will return in Summer 2021. Finding Nemo: The Musical and UP! A Great Bird Adventure do not have a scheduled return date.**

Festival of the Lion King

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Festival of the Lion King is a visually stunning recreation of the classic tale – using acrobats, puppets, and talented performers. Enjoy familiar music and audience participation in this legendary show!

Finding Nemo: The Musical

safari animal kingdom pregnant

This is – without a doubt – my favorite show on Disney property. With all original music, amazing puppets, and beautiful set pieces; your family will experience this story in a whole new way. Pregnant or not – DON’T MISS this show!

UP! A Great Bird Adventure

safari animal kingdom pregnant

In this outdoor theater, you can learn about the world’s birds while watching some amazing demonstrations. You’ll also get a special appearance from Doug and Russell from the Disney/Pixar film Up !

If you have small children, check out my Toddler Tested review of this show!

**Disney’s website currently lists UP! A Great Bird Adventure as “temporarily unavailable.” In its place is a presentation called Feathered Friends in Flight! In this show, you’ll learn how Disney cares for its beautiful birds from real specialists!**

6.) Character Sightings

safari animal kingdom pregnant

While traditional meet and greets are on hold until the Covid crisis has passed, you can still safely view many beloved characters throughout the day. Watch the rivers throughout Animal Kingdom for festive Floatillas carrying Pocahontas, Timon, or even Mickey Mouse himself!

safari animal kingdom pregnant

7.) Take in the Scenery!

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Animal Kingdom is a beautiful park with intricate theming and lots of gorgeous details! Take some time to just stroll the different “lands” (especially Africa, Asia, and Pandora- World of Avatar) to enjoy the unique atmospheres of each location.

safari animal kingdom pregnant

8.) Nighttime Sights

Depending on the season, you can find lots of unique nighttime sights at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Tree of Life Awakenings

safari animal kingdom pregnant

This is Animal Kingdom’s version of a projection show. After sundown, you can periodically watch different animals prance across the tree in a beautiful display!

Pandora – World of Avatar

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Every night, this entire area will light up with bioluminescence. Even if you’ve explored this area in the daylight, you’ll want to return after dark. It is a completely different atmosphere!

9.) Shop ‘Til You Drop!

safari animal kingdom pregnant

In addition to the expected theme park fare, you can find some amazing African imports at some of the Animal Kingdom shops. Look for beautiful toys, household goods, and authentic African wine (not that you can drink it yet). There’s plenty of variety to find something for everyone on your list!

Being pregnant at Animal Kingdom can be a drag. There’s no way to sugarcoat it. But it doesn’t have to spell doom for your vacation or day out with family and friends. We hope this guides helps you fill your day with plenty of fun while keeping yourself and your unborn child safe.

Ultimate Guide to Kilimanjaro Safaris (Animal Kingdom)

If you love animals, you are going to love the Disney Animal Kingdom Safari ride.   Kilimanjaro Safaris magically takes you on what feels like a real African Safari in this amazing experience.

Kilimanjaro Safaris allows guests to explore the Harambe Wildlife Reserve in an open air vehicle.  Disney’s wildlife reserve is 110 acres with over 30 species of real animals.  You’ll drive through wide-open plains, forests, and wetlands.

giraffe with safari vehicle in the background at Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Each ride vehicle has an expert guide, who shares tons of interesting facts about the creatures you are seeing.   The bumpy ride is about 20 minutes long, making it the longest ride in the Disney parks.

Kilimanjaro Safaris is a very engaging ride as you never know what animals you’ll get to see up close and what they will be doing as you pass by.

hippo on Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Disney provides salt licks along the path to attract animals to points where you can see them.  You’ll also pass by watering hole areas as well as great views of a lot of animals on the African savanna.

Kilimanjaro Safaris is the closest thing to a real African safari.  We’ve ridden this ride many MANY times and it’s always different.

Different cast member tour guides share different bits of information, the animals are always on the move, so sometimes you get a great view of an animal up close, sometimes there’s new baby animals to see, and sometimes you get to see your favorite animal eat lunch, etc.

Regardless, you can count on getting a unique experience every time you ride!

When Should you Ride Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris?

Kilimanjaro Safaris is the main attraction of the Africa section at Animal Kingdom, so the lines can get long at times.

The best time to ride, in my opinion is late morning or late afternoon.

Kilimanjaro Safaris entrance

It’s a bit tricky because the safari doesn’t always open right away, so you can’t count on rope dropping this one first thing in the morning.

You also want to avoid riding it in the heat of the day because many times the animals are hidden because they are wanting to cool off.

The best thing to do is to get in line right before it opens (Which varies day to day) OR ride it around late afternoon when the lines have gotten shorter.

giraffe on Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Many people leave this Disney park early to park hop to another one, which eases up some of those long lines!

Ideally, if you have Lightning Lanes, I would schedule a ride around 10:30 am as the lines are likely long, but the animals are active – you can skip that long line with your lightning lane passes.

If you don’t have that Lightning Lane access – save this ride for late afternoon.

What animals are on the safari ride at Animal Kingdom?

ride vehicle sign of animals on the safari ride

Here’s a list of the animals you will see on Kilimanjaro Safaris.

You’ll see:

  • African Wild Dogs
  • Ankole Cattle
  • Black Rhino
  • Common Eland
  • Hippopotamus
  • Nigerian Dwarf Goat
  • Nile Crocodiles
  • Pink-Backed Pelican
  • Saddle-Billed Stork
  • Scimitar Oryx
  • Spotted Hyena
  • White Rhinos

This list does change from time to time, but in general, you can expect to see a LOT of different animals on this amazing ride.

How bumpy is safari ride at Animal Kingdom?

The ride vehicles for Kilimanjaro Safaris are open-sided safari vehicles.  Your tour guide drives his/her big custom made safari truck over fairly rough terrain.

The safari driver does their best to avoid potholes, but the path is pretty rough and bumpy.

Disney advises that guests need to be in good health, no high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems.

They also say that expectant mothers should not ride as there can be unexpected jolts on the ride.

In addition, Disney warns that this could cause motion sickness.   For what it’s worth, my son and I are prone to motion sickness and neither one of us have ever had a problem on this ride.

Has the Animal Kingdom Safari Ride Changed over the years?

Kilimanjaro Safaris has definitely changed over the years.  If you remember riding it many years ago, you might remember a Poacher storyline.

Over time, Disney dropped that storyline in favor of not scaring child with imaginary poachers and instead, giving you more information about the amazing animals on this ride.

safari animal kingdom pregnant

We went to AK in the beginning of July. My wife was 6 months pregnant as our due date is next Wendesday.

When we went to the Safari ride....she, too, was hesitant.

After expressing our concern....we were informed that we could ride on the vehicle that was "handicapped accessible" and was told that that driver "took it easy"...and did not go at the same speed or make the same sharp turns that the regular vehicles made.

Indeed...that ride was smooth...as the bumps and turns can be "tamed" by the aware driver. (as opposed to roller coaster which can't be controlled).

It will be up to you at that point if you want to go for it.

My wife had no issues with this alternate choice...we saw the same animals...went the same course...etc....but the ride was less jarring.

Hope this helps.

Hello GatorGirl,

I wouldn't take the chance with the Safari Ride. As others have said, it is extremely bumpy and there are too many jolts. Save it for your next trip!

Thank you all for your advice! It's good to hear what it is really like. I had no idea if it was on a smooth concrete path or what. On another note - how much do you see on the safari? Do you think it is still worth going to see the rest of the stuff?

Thank you all again!!!

I would skip Animal Kingdom this trip as all the rides here are definitely not for pregnant women such as Kali River Rapids, and Dinosaur along with the Safari. Animal Kingdom is the smallest park in Disney World and is limited in attraction choices for you at this point. With that being said, it is a tropical park that is nice to stroll through I just don't think its worth the $$ to take a walk and see a couple shows!

To be honest.......

It is probably hit or miss as far as how up close you see the animals. It's not like the dangerous ones are allowed to come right up to the vehicle or anything like that. They are a "distance" away.

We saw tigers "from a distance" as well as elephants "from a distance". And because the ride is a continuing procession of vehicles....if they stop the vehicle at any time to point out an animal...it is only for a second or two....as they will "back up" the vehicles behind them.

IMO, whatever hype you have heard and how accurate that hype is....depends on how much you love animals. The park on a whole is very nice....but I wouldn't only go to the park expecting to be "blown away" by the safari ride....it's just "o.k.".

Hope this helps...and have fun w/ your upcoming new baby!

' class=

If you are staying at at DW resort I would recommend the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We stayed about two years ago and the view of all the animals was great. You see much more from your own balcony than you see on the safari ride.

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Personally, I would skip Animal Kingdom totally. We thought the safari ride was definitely not worth it. It is bumpy, so that's not good for you, but in addition to that, we hardly saw any animals (and those we did see were in the far distance). We hated Animal Kingdom (and loved every other Disney park). Don't waste your time there.

I agree with previous posts. Skip Animal Kingdom, pregnant or not. It was, by far, our least favorite Disney Park.

Disney Rides While Pregnant – A Complete Guide

Posted on Last updated: September 9, 2021

Wondering about Disney rides while pregnant? We’ve got great news for you: There is so much to do at the Walt Disney World parks for pregnant women. Rest assured, pregnancy will not stop you from enjoying many of Disney’s famous attractions.

First, the following advice is not medical advice and you should consult your doctor before your trip.

But, having spent nearly three years straight pregnant, and visited the theme parks weekly during this time, I promise you’ll find plenty to do during your trip whether you are in your first trimester, second trimester, or third trimester.

General Information About Disney Attractions While Pregnant

  • In general, pregnant women can experience attractions that do not have height requirements.
  • Physical considerations on designated attractions: ‘Warning! For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.’
  • There are clear signs located at the entrance of attractions with safety advisories that include pregnant women.

4 Things to Remember While Pregnant on Your Disney Vacation

  • Stay hydrated. It’s hot in Florida most of the time. Don’t forget to bring an extra water bottle to keep yourself hydrated.
  • Stay cool. Take advantage of air conditioning inside attractions, restaurants, and shops.
  • Use the Baby Care Center. Each of the theme parks has a Baby Care Center (often located near the First Aid Center), where you can pick up over-the-counter medications, rest your feet in a rocking chair, cool down, or tend to the needs of your other small children.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. Disney is a lot of walking, especially if you are pregnant.

Wishing you a great trip, fun with your family members, and healthy pregnancies. Remember: You can find the location of the nearest restroom by asking a Cast Member or looking in the My Disney Experience app.

FAQ: Touring Walt Disney World While Pregnant

Walt Disney World is a perfect vacation spot for families with young children. And, nature being what it is, people with young children often find themselves making more young children. This means that at any given time there are lots and lots of pregnant women at the Disney parks. Here are some frequently asked questions about touring the parks while pregnant.

safari animal kingdom pregnant

I’ll be visiting Disney World while pregnant. Is there anyone at Disney World I need to tell?

Unlike Disney Cruise Line, where there are rules about travel during pregnancy, there are no blanket prohibitions about pregnant visitors to Walt Disney World. You don’t need to tell anyone at Disney that you’re pregnant.

However, it certainly couldn’t hurt to mention it to cast members you encounter during your trip, particularly if this is your first child. If the front desk of your hotel or the waiter at your restaurant asks something like, “Are you celebrating anything during your trip?” feel free to tell them, if you care to. Disney is known for throwing a little extra “pixie dust” on guests celebrating something special. While nothing is guaranteed, you might get a complimentary dessert or other small gift.

OK, got it. Is there anyone I should tell about my plans to visit Disney while pregnant?

When embarking on any travel while pregnant, you should definitely check in with your doctor, midwife, or other health care professional. This may seem like overkill, but your doctor is the best source of information about travel safety for your unique health situation. She will probably giggle when you call to ask whether a trip to Disney is OK, but this is most definitely a better-safe-than-sorry situation.

Note: This advice applies double during while any general health or safety advisories are in effect. The COVID-19 pandemic, Zika Virus, hurricane season, and the like.

Are there things I should do in advance of my trip?

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Prior to any travel, but especially pregnant travel, you should prepare in advance for medical contingencies. Make sure to always have your doctor’s contact information, your health insurance card, and information about any medications that you’re taking or have on your person, even in the parks. This is not the time to enter the parks without your wallet. Additionally, make sure that your partner or travel companions know your doctor’s phone number and have access to basic information about your health.

While the likelihood of your needing any of this is minimal, in the event of an emergency, you want make sure that your access to care goes as smoothly as possible. While you’re in diligence mode, spend a moment with the map of each park to note the location of the first aid center. If you’re experiencing discomfort or have a question, the wonderful cast members there can provide assistance or recommend sources of more comprehensive care.

Anything else to do in advance?

When planning your trip, your means of transportation can have an outsize impact on your comfort while traveling. While Disney World won’t have issues with your pregnancy, your airline might. Be sure to check with your air carrier about whether they have a policy on flying while expecting.

If you’re considering a drive to Disney World, think about things like how long you’ll be sitting in one position, how often you might need to take bathroom breaks, whether morning sickness might exacerbate motion sickness, what you’re comfortable eating along the way, and so on.

Pregnancy has made me feel like I’m overheating all the time. How do I handle the added heat at Disney World?

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Your first line of defense related to this is timing your trip right. If you can avoid the peak heat of the summer, you’re well on your way to making yourself more comfortable, but I understand that degree of planning is not always possible.

It’s no secret that Florida can be hot, hot, hot at any time of year. With an already stressed body, overheating can lead to numerous problems for both mother and child. To keep your core temperature down, be sure to stay hydrated. In addition to the pricey water bottles for sale in the parks, you are welcome to bring you own water with you. The counter service restaurants will also give you free cups of ice water; just ask.

Some folks don’t love the taste of Florida’s water. If that’s you, perhaps bring some powdered lemonade or even water-soluble electrolyte tablets to make the park water tastier and more refreshing.

You may want to consider other methods of cooling as well. Try carrying a small umbrella or parasol as your own source of shade. Those misting fans are a great way to cool off. You can also place a commercial cool pack or even a wet washcloth on your neck. Try to make the entertainment a focus of your trip, with indoor shows and attractions where you can sit in air-conditioned comfort. And even if you’re not a swimmer, you may want to consider taking a dip in your resort’s pool. In addition to being a great way to cool off, the weightlessness effect of the water can take a lot of pressure off your joints.

Um, the baby sitting on my bladder. How do cope with restroom needs?

If you’re staying hydrated, then you’re going to need to make some fairly frequent pitstops. Keep a park map handy and note the locations of restrooms. (Restroom locations are marked on both the printed maps and on the electronic maps on the My Disney Experience app.)

While oppressively long lines are uncommon in Disney bathrooms, you may encounter one or two during your trip. If you’re in a must-go situation, don’t be afraid to ask to cut to the front of the line. In my experience, many of the women in line ahead of you will be moms who completely understand.

I find myself getting more tired than usual when I’m pregnant. Any tips?

safari animal kingdom pregnant

TouringPlans almost always recommends that guests take a mid-day break from the parks. This goes double for pregnant women. Go back to your hotel. Put your feet up or take a nap. Even plan for a total relaxation day in the middle of your trip. Please.

If you’re unable to do that, try alternating active/standing experiences with restful/seated experiences. Now is the time to spend the day getting to know Carousel of Progress, Country Bear Jamboree, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and other air-conditioned show-style attractions.

Are there any Disney World rides I should avoid while pregnant?

While most attractions at Walt Disney World are perfectly safe for any guest, there are a few that come with health warnings for pregnant women. Most of these are the obvious thrill rides, but some “tamer” rides also have warning notices. For example, the Kilimanjaro Safari at the Animal Kingdom has advisories against pregnant women riding because of the bumpy road surfaces and jarring movements of the jeep. This may seem silly, but why take chances that you don’t need to?

Warning information is available on the park maps, on the Disney website and app, and on signage in the parks.

If you have concerns about specific rides, I encourage you to find footage of the attraction on YouTube to assess how the ride moves. You can then have an informed discussion with your doctor about how that type of motion might impact your or your baby.

Is motion the only thing I should be wary of on rides?

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Many pregnant women have scent sensitivities. Walt Disney World happens to be a very “smelly” place, on rides and off. From the perfume counters at Epcot’s France pavilion, to the burning fire scent piped into Spaceship Earth, and the aroma of skunk in the Journey to Imagination attraction, scents are used to enhance many park experiences. If you are in a phase where odors make you queasy, take extra care to become informed about which attractions have added aromas .

I am visibly pregnant, aware of the risks, and I want to enjoy a ride, even though there is a posted warning sign. Will anyone stop me from riding?

Probably not.

This is my last vacation before I have children. I want to pamper myself. Have any tips?

There are salons and spas at several of the Disney resorts. Anyone is welcome to book treatments. Some that might be particularly appealing are the Leg and Foot Intensive Massage or the Expectant Mother Massage, both offered at the Senses Spas at the Grand Floridian and at the Saratoga Springs resort.

[Note: Spa treatments may not be available during the COVID-19 pandemic.]

I’m prone to acid reflux when I’m pregnant, can I get Tums at Disney World?

Yes. The Disney resort hotel gift shops all carry a modest selection of over the counter medications such as Tums and Tylenol. Additionally, the Orlando area pharmacy, Turner Drug , will deliver to all the Disney hotels. Be aware that selections may be limited and always check with your health care provider before taking any medication while pregnant.

Do you have any thoughts on the best Disney hotel to stay at while you’re pregnant?

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Pregnancy is the time to plan your lodging with comfort in mind.

While you may be fine on a pull-down bed at the Pop Century under most circumstances, this may be the trip in which you’ll be most happy if you upgrade to digs where you have dibs on nicer bedding.

The king-sized beds at the Contemporary are among the most comfortable I’ve encountered at a hotel. Or consider booking a one- or two-bedroom DVC villa. These are equipped with large jacuzzi-style tubs – absolute heaven when you’re exhausted. No matter where you stay, consider asking for a centrally located room, near the restaurants and transportation. The less walking you have to do at the hotel, the more energy you’ll have in the parks.

My appetite is all over the map. How do I deal with food during my Disney trip?

Even if you’re fine “winging it” most of the time, this may be the trip where you want to plan your food intake. Many pregnant women experience changes in their taste preferences. Be aware of how you’re reacting to food. Perhaps your usual love of spicy Mexican food should be indulged on a future trip. Also, because of your temporarily restricted stomach capacity, you may be more comfortable having smaller meals or snacks throughout the day, rather than attempting to beat the buffet. This may influence your decision about whether to purchase the Disney Dining Plan [currently on pause due to Coronavirus].

You should also remember that you are permitted to bring your own food with you into the parks (avoiding glass containers). Even if you don’t normally bring your own snacks with you, it may make sense to keep a supply of healthy, known palatable items with you at all times.

I’m trying to keep active while pregnant, but I’m worried that all the walking at Disney will be too much. Any advice?

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Many Disney World visitors walk 7-10 miles during the course of day in the parks. Even if you’re in good shape, that can be a lot for some pregnant women.

During my own pregnant trip to Walt Disney World, I was five months along with twins. I was in good health and well acquainted with the parks. On the first day of the trip, I toured at our usual pace – skipping from one end of the Magic Kingdom to the other to minimize wait times. At the end of the day, I felt like my knees and hips had become unhinged. I had forgotten that ligament-loosening hormones and extra weight completely changed the amount of stress regular activities would have on my body. Start slow and modify both your pace and distance traveled to accommodate your new shape. If you start to feel like walking is too much for you, wheelchairs are available for rental at the front of each park. There’s no shame in rest when you’re touring for two, or more.

It’s still early in my pregnancy. Do you have any ideas for Disney-related announcements?

Lots of couples work with Disney PhotoPass photographers to stage “We’re pregnant” announcements in front of the castle. Some do this with a sign indicating a due date or perhaps posing with a copy of a sonogram photo. Others will buy a Mickey ear hats and have them embroidered with “Mom” and “Dad” (or Mom and Mom, or Dad and Dad). If you spend a few minutes on Pinterest searching “Disney pregnancy announcement” and you’ll find ideas aplenty.

TouringPlans writer Dani recently shared her own Disney pregnancy announcement story . (I’m not crying, you’re crying.)

Anything else I should plan?

Bring a book (or download an audiobook if you don’t want to carry extra items).

You may be skipping the thrill rides on this trip, but that doesn’t mean your family members have to. Let them go ahead and conquer the Yeti on Expedition Everest while you take the opportunity to relax on a shady bench with a cool drink. Your family will feel much less guilty about leaving you behind for a bit if they know that Julia Quinn is keeping you company.

Our first trip to WDW was when my wife was 4 months pregnant and our two sons (10 and 9 at the time). She did avoid anything with a big sudden drop (rollercoasters, Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, etc.) and quick, fast jostling (Star Tours, Kali River Rapids), but did ride Kilimanjaro Safaris and Teamboat Springs at Blizzard Beach. She was trooper! This was back during the paper fastpass days, so at rope drop my sons and I would ride a headliner while she would take our passes with her and get fastpasses for another headliner. Using the touring plans in the back of the Unofficial Guide at the time we were able to fly through the park in the crowded summer days and be done by mid-afternoon.

And just as Mark has already posted, we had a special moment. On the last day of that trip my wife and I were lounging on deck chairs at Blizzard Beach when my wife said that she could feel my future daughter kick on the outside of her belly. I put my hand on her stomach, and sure enough, I felt my baby girl kick for the first time! I knew then and there I would never forget that moment as long as I lived.

We went to WDW both times my wife was pregnant. They were great trips! We did rent a wheelchair for her, which helped. The first time I felt both my sons kick was during “Wishes.” With the first son, we were sitting on the train platform at the end of Main St. watching the fireworks when my wife said, “Feel this. He’s kicking!” With the second son, we were on the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage. These are memories I’ll never forget!

Tips for Visiting Disney World While Pregnant

From the very first week I found out I was expecting, up until a few weeks before my due date, I made several trips to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. As Annual Passholders and Florida residents (not to mention my daughter’s favorite place), being pregnant wasn’t going to stop me from continuing our regular, monthly trips to the ‘Most Magical Place on Earth’. Visiting Disney World While Pregnant is easy as long as you prepare accordingly.

This post contains affiliate links. Please read my disclosure .

Disney World while Pregnant First Trimester

I found out I was pregnant with my first child a few days before a big Disney vacation for my friend’s bachelorette party weekend. Unlike the second and third trimesters where you have a visible baby bump, the first trimester can be a little different when tackling a major theme park. I would strongly recommend avoiding all major roller coasters when visiting during first trimester. Better safe than sorry. This includes Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Test Track, Mission Space, Everest, Rockin’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. While that may sound like a lot, there are still PLENTY of rides and shows to enjoy. Basically any rides at Walt Disney World without a height restriction are safe enough for expectant mothers to ride.

Morning Sickness on Disney Vacation

If you’re still in the first trimester, many pregnant women will suffer from morning sickness. I have found the best way to deal with this is eating small frequent meals, staying hydrated and keeping morning sickness drops (like these) on hand. Hard candies or peppermints can also be extremely helpful to curb those nauseous feelings. If you find yourself feeling extremely fatigued, be sure to stop and rest, head back to the hotel room to lie down or visit the first aid centers for additional medical advice or assistance.

Disney while pregnant

What about Kilimanjaro Safari pregnant?

Two rides that do “suggest pregnant guests don’t ride” that I think are actually pretty safe for first trimester are Flights of Passage and Kilimanjaro Safari, both at Animal Kingdom. Flights of Passage is not intense in terms of the ride itself, but it is really fun. The harness system presses against your lower back and calves while you sit similar to riding a motorcycle. This would not be good for pregnant women in the second and third trimester, but in those first 13 weeks, when you don’t really have a bump, you can sit comfortably on this ride without your belly touching the attraction.

It is also warned not to do Kilimanjaro Safari pregnant, however, this is basically a bumpy truck ride. I rode this until about 25 weeks pregnant without issue. Of course, you should ALWAYS consult your personal doctor and use your best judgement when deciding what is best for you.

Extra Things to Consider at Disney World while Pregnant First Trimester

If visiting Disney World while pregnant first trimester, you’ll want to ensure you bring something along for any nausea. What really helped me was sucking on peppermint candies, eating ice and these Prego Pops . Due to the early release of the hormone Relaxin during the first trimester , it can also be more trying to walk around a theme park all day. I remember having lots of hip and knee pain (usually I do not have either) when at Disney World while pregnant first trimester. So just be sure to build in extra breaks and wear good shoes on your Disney trip!

Disney while Pregnant

Disney World Pregnant Second & Third Trimester

Navigating Disney World while pregnant 13+ weeks can be a bit more difficult. While you’ve passed the nausea (hopefully) and have a bit more energy, you’ll have a visible belly and can still get fatigued along with round ligament pains and swelling feet as you enter the third trimester. Here are some tips for mamas traveling to Disney World Pregnant past the first trimester.

Drink Plenty of Water

In the Florida heat it’s important to stay well hydrated, especially during the hotter months. When you’re pregnant, water is even more vital to ensuring the health of both mama and baby. Any refreshment stand or restaurant that offers fountain drinks will provide a cup of ice water free of charge. Also, be on the lookout for water bottle refill stations throughout all four Disney parks. There’s nothing “magical” about tap water at Disney. In fact, if you’ve ever had Florida tap water you probably know it’s not very tasty. If you have other small children, I recommend stopping by a Baby Care Center (located at each park) and fill up a reusable water bottle (or two) with their filtered water provided as a courtesy for bottle fed babies. It’s much tastier, trust me! Or it’s a good idea to bring a soft cooler with frozen water bottles into the park. Staying hydrated is key to surviving Disney World while pregnant, especially during the summer months.

Build in Breaks

A day at Disney can make even normal people tired and fatigued, so if you’re pregnant you should definitely build in break times to help ensure a pleasant trip. Strategically plan shows or schedule a dining reservation during the hottest time of the day (1-4ish). Map out air conditioned wait queues (like meeting Mickey Mouse at Town Square or Pirates of the Caribbean) to help cool off.

What to Wear to Disney While Pregnant

If you’re wondering what to wear to Disney when pregnant, this answer is going to vary based on when you’re visiting. If your trip is in November thru March, prepare for cooler nights and beautiful days. Layers will be essential. During the hotter months, I recommend comfy maternity shorts and tank tops. Breathable or moisture wicking fabrics are perfect for Disney World. Just because you’re pregnant, doesn’t mean you can’t look cute. I did several fun ‘Disneybound’ outfits while visiting Disney when pregnant.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

Prepare to walk. A LOT. The Disney theme parks are spread out and even walking from the parking lot to the front gate can be tiring. Wearing proper shoes will help keep your feet from wearing out too quickly. Dressing appropriately is key to surviving Disney World while pregnant. I always throw a pair of flip flops in the stroller and start the day in well supported tennis shoes. I’ll change my shoes around dinner time, sometimes sooner if my feet start to swell or if it’s rainy.

Disney Rides While Pregnant & Other Things to Do

While pregnant, you can ride almost anything without a height requirement. This rules out the bigger coasters and thrill rides as mentioned above. However, most rides are kid (and pregnancy) friendly. Depending on how far along you are, some rides with lap belts (Dumbo or Aladdin Magic Carpets) or rides with lap bars (Buzz Lightyear or Haunted Mansion) can still be a tight squeeze and quite uncomfortable. Ask the cast member at the front of the line to help determine what constraints are used and if it would be a comfortable ride. There are also lots of shows to see at each park, check out my full list of what to do in Disney World pregnant below.

Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom: The Ultimate Guide

posted by Charmaine Cortes on December 26, 2022 // last updated on June 12, 2023

Are you planning to visit Kilimanjaro Safari Disney World with your family or loved ones and want to learn more about it? Then you have come to the right place!

In this article, we will provide you with an overview of everything you need to know about Kilimanjaro Safaris. This safari ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park will transport you across the globe into an African Wildlife setting.

In this Ultimate Guide, we will cover all the basics from the history of the Safari, how to ride it and some further frequently asked questions about the wildlife park. Read on to find out more!

About Kilimanjaro Safaris

The kilimanjaro safaris ride, kilimanjaro safaris accessibility, interesting facts.

safari animal kingdom pregnant

Walt Disney had a lifelong dream of adding live animals to his Jungle Cruise. Back then, this was not possible until the Kilimanjaro Safaris opened its gates in Disney’s Animal Kingdom park in April 1998.

The park in Walt Disney World wanted to differentiate itself from a zoo from the beginning. While it had live animals, it was more focused on conservation and experiencing the animals in their (somewhat) natural habitat.

Since 2016, visitors can enjoy special sunset safaris where they get to enjoy African animals after dark.

You will find Kilimanjaro Safaris located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom park, which is part of Walt Disney World.

Make your way past the Tree of Life to the back of Africa, all the way past Mombasa Marketplace and Dawa Bar. As you cross the bridge, you will get to Kilimanjaro Safaris.

The queue will lead you through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve before you enter your safari vehicle and head out to experience the African Savanna without leaving the States!

safari animal kingdom pregnant

The Kilimanjaro Safaris vehicles are open-air trucks that can accommodate up to 35 guests. Each vehicle can seat three to five guests in one row.

The Savanna provides a bumpy ride along a dirt trail and is different from the other smooth theme park rides at Disney. So buckle up.

You will be provided with a game-spotting guide. Be on the lookout, as not all wildlife will be visible at all times.

A Kilimanjaro Safaris ride is approximately 20 to 30 minutes long and leads through 100 acres of Savanna. During this time, you will be able to spot about 34 different species. Among these, you will find famous members of the African Animal Kingdom:

  • Hippopotamus
  • Sable Antelopes
  • Thompson’s Gazelles
  • African Wild Dogs
  • Termite Mounds

Each expedition through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve is completely unique. The animals are all free roaming and are, therefore, always in a different place or sometimes in hiding.

If you are looking for a specific unique experience, you can visit Kilimanjaro Safaris at night! During those nighttime safaris, you will be able to experience the wildlife in a completely different setting. Some animals tend to be more active during the night, so we recommend trying out both times.

The ride with Kilimanjaro Safaris is longer than some other rides at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so factor that into your time at the park, so you don’t miss other rides.

Since you will be dealing with real animals, we recommend behavior that suits the setting. No loud noises or erratic behavior as this can scare the wildlife. Small children are to be watched at all times. In general, this might be a better experience for children above the age of six.

Fastpass/ Lightning Lane:  Yes

Time:  20 -30 minutes

Height Restrictions:  None

Age Restrictions:  None

Handicapped Accessibility:

  • Kilimanjaro Safaris is Wheelchair Accessible

To access the safari ride, you can wheel up a ramp and ride into the truck itself. Your wheelchair will be tied down and secured, so you do not have to worry about bouncing around during the ride through the wilderness.

  • Other guests need to take a small step into the safari vehicle.
  • no high blood pressure
  • no heart, back, or neck problems
  • no motion sickness
  • no other severe conditions

Disney does advise against expectant mothers or people that aren’t in good health riding with Kilimanjaro Safaris, as the rides can get bumpy, and there is also no option for an emergency exit while in the safari vehicle.

Service Animals:

Kilimanjaro Safaris allows service animals to be taken into the premises and on rides. However, the park advises visitors to do so with caution. The animals might be completely new to this wildlife experience and might act differently.

safari animal kingdom pregnant

In the beginning, Kilimanjaro Safaris included a lot of information about poaching in their ride and even had a specific section in the park set up to educate about the illegal hunting of wildlife.

These days, Kilimanjaro Safaris is more focused on the educational part of the conservation of the African Savanna and its wildlife.

The ride is designed to be as realistic as possible. Therefore, the roads are quite rough (as mentioned previously in this article). You need to be ready for some rough and rugged terrain during your safari adventure at Kilimanjaro Safaris.

How big is the Kilimanjaro Safari Park?

Including the Harambe Wildlife Reserve, the Kilimanjaro Safaris Park is about 1.5 miles.

While this might not sound too lengthy, keep in mind that you will follow winding roads that are extremely bumpy. On top of that, the Kilimanjaro Safaris area is about 110 acres big. Plus, the safari trucks will drive extremely slow. This is also to ensure you will see enough wildlife.

Can you pet animals at Kilimanjaro Safaris?

This is a clear no. You are dealing with wildlife from the African animal kingdom at Kilimanjaro Safaris. These animals are wild. They are no pets. A direct encounter with lions is to be treated with respect and can end in a dangerous situation should you mistake them for a house cat.

Should you or your children wish to pet animals, we recommend visiting the petting zoo at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

Are all animals real at Kilimanjaro Safaris?

Yes, the animals are all real. The tour however does include some fake elements, such as:

  • Ostrich Eggs
  • Moonlight during the safari ride after sunset
  • Termite mounds

When Is The Best Time To Ride Kilimanjaro Safaris?

We recommend purchasing your Harambe Wildlife Reserve pass early in the morning and heading straight to the open-air safari experience. The animals tend to be more active during the morning hours as well as after sunset.

During midday, most animals will hide in the shade or be less active because of the heat. It will also be more strenuous on visitors, as this is an open-air vehicle and you might not feel too comfortable in the hot climate.

Does the Weather influence the Safari?

Kilimanjaro Safaris is an open-air safari. So the rides are in some way influenced by the weather. The animals might not be bothered by the rain, but they might be less active in extreme heat. So plan your visit accordingly.

Since this is an open-air safari, we recommend dressing for whatever weather you might encounter. If there is a possibility of rain, dress warm and take a raincoat. Should the weather be pleasant with sunshine, we recommend a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

Check your forecast and come with the necessities to make the ride enjoyable.

Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris – The Ultimate Guide Updated

Sharing is caring!

Want to know more about the Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris?

One of the most immersive of all the Animal Kingdom rides, the Disney Kilimanjaro Safari takes you on a journey through the African planes.

In Orlando Florida.

This highly unique experience is one of the highlights of any trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It truly is an adventure that you cannot find anywhere else in North America.

Discover what you need to know about Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris so that you and your family can get the most out of this immersive attraction.

disneykilimanjarosafaris

Disney Kilimanjaro Safari Guide

The Disney Imagineers have successfully created the Harambe Wildlife Reserve in Animal Kingdom park.

Walt Disney himself always wanted to have live animals incorporated into his theme parks.

Whilst in Disneyland this dream was kind of realized in Jungle Cruise (Walt originally wanted real animals for this attraction), Disney’s Animal Kingdom finally achieved that dream.

The area where your Kilimanjaro Safari Bus will take you is vast.

110 acres of vast.

And it is home to 34 different species of animal including lions, hippos, giraffes, and elephants.

What is the Disney Kilimanjaro Safari Ride Like?

Kilimanjaro Safaris

The first experience of any Disney ride is the line area!

The advantage of the Kilimanjaro Safari Ride is that the queue is well-shaded.

There are some things to look at along the way, including some videos about conservation. But mostly the best thing about this line is that it is in the shade!

It can get very very hot in Orlando and it can be a challenge to wait in line at the height of the heat. There are a few spots where you can even sit down on a small wall which gives your feet a bit of a rest!

This is one reason not to ride Kilimanjaro Safari in the heat of the day – the queue will be a lot easier to deal with if it is a bit cooler.

A short way into the line you will have to put your stroller in the parking place.

A Cast Member will be there to guide you to the exact spot.

Then by the time you get back, your stroller will have moved of course!

The Disney Animal Kingdom Safari ride vehicles are custom-built GMC and Ford trucks.

Lots of guests think that Kilimanjaro Safaris is on a track, but it isn’t. Those safari vehicles are true off-roaders controlled by the Cast Members!

Each ride vehicle holds up to 32 guests in 9 rows each seating up to 4. There is no height requirement for this Animal Kingdom ride.

It is very much for families, but as I discuss below, it is very bumpy.

Take notice of the warnings.

If you have a health condition or are pregnant give Disney’s Kilimanjaro Safaris a miss!

Passing Hippos

Is there a best place to sit on the Disney Kilimanjaro Safari ride?

There really aren’t any bad seats, but the best is the front and the back row.

However, be aware that the further towards the back you get, the bumpier the ride!

If you have small children they should not be at the edge.

Giraffe Models

In front of you, there are signs which help you recognize which animals you may see on your safari.

The most popular sitings are those of elephants, giraffes, gazelles, rhinos, crocodiles, hippos, and lions.

Animal Kingdom Safari Overhead Sign

The safari guides always make sure that they keep you entertained as well as educated. And they will try their best to point out the sometimes very well camouflaged animals.

If you can be organized enough it is a great idea to take some High Powered Binoculars with you.

I went on the safari ride for years before I actually did this. It made a huge difference to what you can see.

There is usually plenty of time to take photos of the animals. Your Cast Member guide will do their best to point out the best photo ops.

Animal Kingdom Safari Ride Fun Facts

mufasa mufasa mufasa

Don’t worry. Of course, Disney’s Animal Kingdom has things well designed so that you are not going to get up close and personal with a lion. Big trenches separate humans from the dangerous animals.

Jurassic Park this is not.

Disney has some great tricks to keep the animals visible and happy.

Ever wonder why the lions are always sitting out on the rocks? Yes, they are mimicking what they do in the wild, but what most people don’t know about the rocks is that they are air-conditioned!

The lions originally came from a much cooler park in Oregon, so they needed a little help cooling down in the hot Florida sun. If it ever gets too cold, the rocks can be heated too!

Disney also knows how to get the animals as close as possible to you. How do they do this? The usual incentive for food and water.

They place food, watering holes, and salt licks close to the vehicle paths.

The emphasis is on safety both for humans and animals.

You might think you can reach out and touch that giraffe but there is a large system of trenches, bridges and fences on all the savannas to keep humans from the animals and to keep the animals from predators.

Many years ago there was a story about poachers with a graphic illustration of the fate of Little Red, a baby elephant. This storyline has not been seen for almost a decade as many considered it too upsetting for a Disney attraction.

Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris Best Time To Ride

Baby Rhinoceros on Kilimanjaro Safari - Animal Kingdom - Walt Disney World

What is the best time to ride the Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris? This Animal Kingdom ride is popular. And popular means lines.

The best tactic for the best time to ride Disney Kilimanjaro’s Safari? Arrive early. I know that’s always the advice, but it works.

If you can arrive at the Animal Kingdom at rope drop and then go straight to Kilimanjaro Safaris you will most likely be beating the crowds. Even better is if you have Early Entry at 8 am. You can really get ahead of the crowds.

Kilimanjaro Giraffe

The attraction is right at the back of the park. If you plan to be there early look at a map of Animal Kingdom so you get your bearings as to where you are going.

There are plenty of signs in the park, but it is always good to have an overall view.

There is another great reason to ride Disney’s Kilimanjaro Safari as early as possible. The animals are much more active in the morning.

You are more likely to see a greater selection of active animals than in the afternoon when it is hotter.

 Kilimanjaro Safaris Wait Time

Maclean the African Elephant on Kilimanjaro Safari - Animal Kingdom - Walt Disney World

The Disney Kilimanjaro Safari wait times will vary from anywhere between 10 minutes to 120 minutes, This depends on the time of day as well as whether it is peak season or not.

As we have said, the lowest wait time will be as soon as the park opens.

If you leave it until 11 am you are likely to hit the peak wait times of at least 70 to 90 minutes.

Really try and avoid that time of day as it is likely to be the worst.

Kilimanjaro Safari - Animal Kingdom - Walt Disney World

If you don’t get to the attraction early in the day, the next best time to ride Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris is usually around 3 pm onwards.

A lot of people head for the attraction earlier in the day and have cleared that area by mid-afternoon.

The wait times for this Animal Kingdom attraction are somewhat better now that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has extended opening hours. It used to only ever be open 9 am until 5 pm.

Now the hours are often extended into the evening so this also gives a chance to experience the safari ride at night.

Kilimanjaro Safaris at Night

Welcome to Harambe Wildlife Reserve

Now the hours are often extended into the evening so this also gives a chance to experience the Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris at night.

This is a very different experience from touring during the day.

If possible you should try and ride once in the early morning and then go back late in the evening.

The least busy times will be just before the park closes.

Giraffes on Kilimanjaro Safari - Animal Kingdom - Walt Disney World

Adapting the experience for nighttime was not an easy task. Disney had to spend more than a year preparing the animals and the environment for the nighttime Kilimanjaro Safaris.

They introduced some new animals, such as the nocturnal hyenas, to be better suited to the nighttime experience.

They also added a huge wall of graphic displays to enhance the Kilimanjaro Safaris at night. This is so that guests can actually have enough light to see the animals.

The graphics cleverly mimic a gradually setting sun over an extended period of time.

This is so that the animals can adjust to the environment and the guests can actually still see the animals which are up and about in the evening.

The Kilimanjaro Safaris at Night is definitely a different experience than during the day. Ideally, you should do both. If you have to choose just one though, I would say go in the morning. You are likely to see more active animals.

Disney Kilimanjaro Safaris For Pregnant Ladies

I visited Disney World many times while pregnant. It’s a very pregnant lady-friendly place!

However, there are some Disney World rides that recommend that if you are pregnant you should not ride.

Zebras

Disney’s Kilimanjaro Safari Ride very clearly states that pregnant ladies should not ride.

This is going to be very much an individual decision. There are some rides at Disney World where it is very obvious that a pregnant woman should not ride.

You probably aren’t going to want to sign up to ride Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, or Rock N Roller Coaster when you are pregnant.

That’s obvious.

But Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of those Disney World rides where you are thinking shall I or shan’t I?

African Elephants on Kilimanjaro Safari - Animal Kingdom - Walt Disney World

My personal experience is that when I was pregnant with my youngest son I did go on the Kilimanjaro Safari Ride. After about 10 seconds I realized that for me, it was the wrong decision. Kilimanjaro Safari is bumpy!

I remember just wanting it to end almost as soon as it started.

I am fortunate and have experienced the Animal Kingdom Safari Ride many times. However, at that time I really wished I hadn’t. It’s fine normally to speed through the African planes in your safari vehicle over all the bumps, but when pregnant I just wanted to be somewhere else!

Will you be experiencing Disney’s Kilimanjaro Safaris on your next visit to the Animal Kingdom?

Planning The Magic

Disney Rides While Pregnant First Trimester

Visiting Disney World while pregnant can be an exciting and magical experience, even during the first trimester. Expectant mothers may have concerns about which rides and attractions are safe for them and their growing baby.

With a little research and planning, it’s possible to enjoy a comfortable visit to the happiest place on Earth without sacrificing any of the fun.

In the first trimester, it is essential for expectant mothers to be aware of their comfort levels and prioritize their well-being. This means being mindful of the rides and attractions they choose to experience and taking breaks whenever necessary.

Thankfully, Disney World offers a variety of pregnancy-safe options, including enchanting Magic Kingdom rides like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Haunted Mansion, and Jungle Cruise.

While some rides may not be suitable for pregnant individuals due to height restrictions and safety concerns, there are still many opportunities to create cherished memories during this special time.

Using these tips, expectant mothers can navigate Disney World with confidence and ensure a magical experience for both themselves and their future Disney fan.

Table of Contents

Pregnancy and Rides

Visiting Disney World while pregnant can still be an enjoyable experience, especially during the first trimester. There are several rides suitable for pregnant women, allowing them to experience and immerse themselves in the magic of Disney safely.

However, it is important to be mindful of the rides that are not recommended for pregnant guests to ensure a safe and healthy trip for both the mother and the baby. In general, avoiding rides with height restrictions should be the guideline for pregnant visitors.

In the Magic Kingdom, pregnant women can confidently enjoy many attractions such as “It’s a Small World,” the Haunted Mansion, or the Jungle Cruise, without worrying about compromising their comfort and safety. Nevertheless, expectant mothers should avoid some thrilling rides, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, The Barnstormer, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Animal Kingdom also offers various options for pregnant guests. Kilimanjaro Safari and Flights of Passage are two rides that suggest pregnant women shouldn’t ride, but many believe them to be safe during the first trimester.

It’s always best to consult your doctor before riding these attractions to determine your personal comfort and safety levels. The ride Avatar Flight of Passage is not advised for pregnant women due to its intensity.

To maximize comfort and enjoyment during your Disney experience, consider breaking up your visit into half days. This approach allows pregnant women to rest when needed, avoid overexertion, and stay cool during hot weather, particularly in the first trimester.

Paying attention to your body’s signals and limitations will help ensure a positive and memorable Disney World visit while pregnant.

General Precautions

When visiting Disney World during the first trimester of pregnancy, there are several precautions expecting mothers should consider. A friendly reminder is to make self-care a top priority to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.

First and foremost, consult with your doctor or midwife before embarking on a trip to Disney World. They can give you valuable advice on what rides and attractions are safe for you and provide guidance on how to manage potential pregnancy-related symptoms like nausea. It’s essential to know your body’s limits and adjust your activities accordingly.

Staying hydrated is crucial during pregnancy, especially when spending long hours at an amusement park. With increased walking and warm temperatures, expecting mothers should make a point to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Carrying a refillable water bottle can be an easy way to ensure you have access to water at all times.

It’s essential to balance activity and rest, as overexertion can be harmful during pregnancy. Disney World has many comfortable seating areas and places to relax, so don’t hesitate to take breaks when needed. Feel free to find a quiet, shaded spot or enjoy a leisurely attraction that allows time to rest and rejuvenate.

Nausea can be a common symptom during the first trimester, so it’s crucial to be prepared for this possibility while at Disney World. Carry nausea-relief items, such as ginger chews or candies, to help alleviate any discomfort. Additionally, eating small snacks throughout the day can help keep nausea at bay.

Pregnant guests should be mindful of the rides they choose to enjoy at Disney World. In general, rides without height restrictions are considered safe for expectant mothers. Some examples include It’s a Small World, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant.

In conclusion, it’s important to prioritize safety and comfort when visiting Disney World during the first trimester. Staying hydrated, taking breaks, consulting with healthcare professionals, and being aware of pregnancy-friendly rides will help create a memorable experience for expecting mothers.

Safe Rides for Pregnant Women

  • Muppet*Vision 3D
  • Toy Story Mania!
  • Voyage of The Little Mermaid

Although these rides are generally considered safe for expectant mothers, it’s always a good idea to consult with your doctor before planning your trip and to pay attention to any warning signs posted near attractions while visiting the parks.

With a friendly approach and some helpful information, visiting Disney parks during pregnancy can be a delightful experience.

Entertainment Options

Visiting Disney World while pregnant in the first trimester does limit some of the available rides. However, there are still plenty of entertainment options that are safe for expectant mothers. Disney World offers a wide variety of shows and parades, which are delightful experiences that you don’t want to miss.

Attending a show is an excellent option for a pregnant guest seeking a comfortable and immersive Disney experience .

Shows such as Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade , Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire , and Fantasmic! are engaging, colorful spectacles that can be enjoyed while seated or standing, depending on your preference. These shows provide a chance to watch your beloved Disney characters come to life, sing, and dance in dazzling choreography.

Parades are another great way to be entertained while taking a break from walking around the park. One example is the Main Street Electrical Parade , showcasing illuminated floats and catchy music. Secure a spot along the parade route, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere as the performance unfolds before your eyes.

Enchanted Tales with Belle is a unique interactive storytelling experience. In this attraction, guests are invited to participate in a retelling of Beauty and the Beast alongside Belle and other characters from the story. While it does involve some movement and interaction, the gentle nature of this experience makes it a suitable option for pregnant visitors in their first trimester.

Ultimately, visiting Disney World while pregnant in the first trimester should not hinder your ability to have a fun and memorable experience.

The park offers numerous shows, parades, and attractions designed for guests of all ages and conditions. So, remember to take breaks, drink plenty of water, and enjoy these enchanting entertainment options during your Disney adventure.

Alternative Attractions & Activities

While pregnant women may need to avoid some high-speed, turbulent rides in their first trimester, there are still plenty of alternative attractions and activities available at Disney parks . In this section, we’ll explore some of these options so that pregnant visitors and their friends can make the most of their Disney experience.

Disney parks offer a wide range of shows and musical performances that are perfect for pregnant guests. One favorite is the Enchanted Tiki Room at the Magic Kingdom , where guests can sit back, relax, and enjoy the colorful, entertaining animatronics set in a tropical paradise.

In addition to shows, there are plenty of gentle, slow-paced rides that can be enjoyed during pregnancy. Attractions such as “it’s a small world,” The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Pirates of the Caribbean provide a magical escape without the twists and turns of thrill rides.

These attractions are also a wonderful opportunity for friends and family to enjoy together, creating lasting memories during your Disney vacation.

For those who enjoy interactive experiences

Explore the different themed areas within the parks, each offering unique photo opportunities and character interactions. Pregnant guests can participate in the fun by meeting their favorite Disney characters, watching street performers, and even taking part in hands-on experiences like Animation Academy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

If games and competition are more your style, the Disney parks have various arcades and interactive experiences that cater to gamers of all ages. At Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, for example, Space Ranger Spin allows friends to challenge each other in a galactic battle against the evil Zurg.

Epcot’s Innoventions offers educational attractions focused on technology and innovation, providing guests with engaging games and even opportunities to build and test their own creations.

Remember that exploring Disney’s themed lands can be an attraction in itself. With beautifully designed areas inspired by various countries, stories, and genres, there is always something new to discover. Spend time wandering through each area, enjoying the ambiance, architecture, and maybe even finding some incredible dining options.

In conclusion, a visit to Disney parks while pregnant need not be limited by the omission of certain rides during the first trimester. There are numerous alternative attractions and activities that cater to various interests, allowing pregnant guests and their friends to create a memorable and magical experience.

Water Parks & Pregnancy-Friendly Features

Walt Disney World offers several attractions that expectant mothers can enjoy in a safe and comfortable way during their first trimester. This section will focus on the water parks and their pregnancy-friendly features.

Typhoon Lagoon is one of Disney’s water parks that has a lot to offer for pregnant guests in their first trimester. While some attractions may not be suitable during pregnancy, plenty of relaxing and refreshing options exist.

The Lazy River at Typhoon Lagoon, the Castaway Creek, allows guests to grab a tube and gently float along the water, providing a leisurely and enjoyable experience.

Another park to consider is Blizzard Beach which, similar to Typhoon Lagoon, offers a Lazy River known as Cross Country Creek. This relaxing water ride allows expectant mothers to unwind and take a break from the Florida heat.

Additionally, the wave pools at both water parks offer a fun opportunity for pregnant guests to play in the shallow water and enjoy the rhythmic waves.

While the majority of water slides and thrill rides at the water parks are not recommended for pregnant guests, there are still a variety of low-impact attractions to experience.

Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach have spacious and comfortable lagoon-style pools that are perfect for swimming, lounging, and enjoying the picturesque surroundings.

It is essential for expectant mothers always to prioritize their safety and well-being, especially when visiting amusement parks and water parks.

To ensure a pleasant experience, make sure to consult with your healthcare provider before participating in any Disney World attraction, stay hydrated, avoid over-exerting yourself, and take frequent breaks.

Disney World provides a wide range of attractions for guests of all ages and life stages, including those in their first trimester of pregnancy.

By exploring pregnancy-friendly options such as the Lazy River, wave pools, and lagoon-style pools at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, expectant mothers can experience a fun and memorable visit to the happiest place on Earth.

Warning Signs and Pregnancy Safety

Visiting Disney World during the first trimester of pregnancy can be an enjoyable experience, but it’s important to be aware of warning signs and safety measures to ensure a healthy and comfortable trip. Pregnant visitors should pay attention to the signage posted at each attraction, as they provide valuable information on height requirements, health and safety advisories, and accessibility guidelines.

When it comes to ride safety for expectant mothers, there are a few key factors to consider such as speed, rapid starts and stops, and potential for placental abruption. Disney, Six Flags, Busch Gardens, and even local state fairs often display warning signs advising pregnant women not to ride certain attractions.

These warnings are in place because, although there are no concrete studies documenting problems for pregnant women on these rides, there are also no studies proving their safety either.

During the first trimester, pregnant visitors should double-check which rides are available to them and be cautious about walking, taking breaks, staying hydrated, and maintaining comfort levels throughout the day. Scheduling half-day visits can help avoid overexertion or overheating, which can be harmful to both the mother and the baby.

Fortunately, there are over 20 Walt Disney World rides considered safe for pregnant women to experience. These rides generally have slower speeds, fewer sudden movements, and lower impact, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

However, it’s essential that expectant mothers use their own discretion and consult with their healthcare provider before participating in any activities during their pregnancy.

In summary, Disney World can be a magical experience for expectant mothers in their first trimester, provided they take necessary precautions and pay close attention to warning signs and ride safety requirements. By doing so, they can create wonderful memories while prioritizing the well-being of both themselves and their unborn child.

Rides to Avoid

During the first trimester of pregnancy, it’s essential to prioritize safety, and there are several Disney rides expectant mothers should avoid.

These rides typically come with warnings and signage for pregnant women, so it’s crucial to pay attention to these indicators while at the park.

Among the thrilling rides to avoid are roller coasters such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train , Slinky Dog Dash , Big Thunder Mountain Railroad , and Expedition Everest .

These coasters can be intense, featuring sharp turns, fast speeds, and sudden drops, which can put unnecessary stress on both mother and baby.

Space Mountain and Tower of Terror are also not recommended for first-trimester moms-to-be. These attractions’ combination of darkness, drops, and spinning motions can lead to discomfort and potential risk.

Water-based rides, such as Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids , are also best avoided during pregnancy. Aside from the risk of sudden drops and jerky movements, the water may pose additional challenges for pregnant riders.

Similarly, attractions that simulate flight, like Avatar Flight of Passage and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run , can put expectant mothers in risky situations due to their immersive and potentially disorienting nature.

Finally, rides with rapid motion and spinning should be avoided. This includes attractions like Barnstormer , Dinosaur , Mission: SPACE , and Test Track .

The sudden turns and quick acceleration in these rides can be jarring and unsuitable for pregnant guests in their first trimester.

It’s always best to err on the side of caution and prioritize safety over thrills when visiting Disney parks during pregnancy. Consult ride signage and park guides for health and safety advisories to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both mom and baby.

Tips for Managing Morning Sickness

Experiencing morning sickness during the first trimester of pregnancy is a common challenge. However, it shouldn’t stop you from enjoying your time at Disney, as there are ways to manage it. Here are some friendly tips to help you manage morning sickness and make the most out of your magical Disney vacation.

Staying hydrated is essential when visiting Disney, especially when you’re pregnant. The heat and excitement can easily contribute to dehydration, which, in turn, can worsen morning sickness. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. You can request a free cup of ice water at any refreshment stand or restaurant that offers fountain drinks.

Ginger is a natural remedy that has been used for centuries to help with nausea. With ginger readily available, you can benefit from its soothing effects during your visit. You may want to carry ginger candy, ginger tea, or ginger supplements with you while exploring the park, as they can help alleviate your morning sickness symptoms.

Make sure to plan your meals and snacks wisely while visiting Disney during your first trimester. Opt for small, frequent meals rather than large ones to minimize food aversions and reduce the likelihood of triggering morning sickness.

Foods rich in protein and low in sugar are great choices, as they provide necessary nutrients and can help stabilize your blood sugar levels.

Take Breaks

Taking breaks and listening to your body is crucial. Make sure to rest whenever you feel tired or nauseous. Disney offers plenty of shaded spots and benches where you can take a break, cool down, and avoid overexertion. Should you need a more private place, first aid stations are available in each park for your comfort and convenience.

Another hidden secret is to use distractions as a way to manage morning sickness. Instead of focusing on feeling nauseous, try to engage yourself in the sights, sounds, and excitement of Disney. It is surprising how the magic of Disney can help take your mind off any discomfort you may be experiencing.

Don’t forget to consult with your healthcare provider before embarking on your Disney adventure, as they can provide additional suggestions and tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip during your first trimester.

Pregnancy Milestones & Disney

Expecting mothers often look forward to experiencing Disney’s magical atmosphere during their pregnancy journey. While there are certain restrictions and considerations for each trimester, Disney offers a variety of rides and attractions that cater to all stages of pregnancy.

During the first trimester , it’s essential for pregnant women to be mindful of their physical capabilities and comfort levels in the park. As their bodies adjust to the pregnancy, they should focus on taking frequent breaks, staying hydrated, and avoiding overwork.

Fortunately, there are several rides and attractions perfect for these early weeks of pregnancy. Some may enjoy iconic attractions like “It’s a Small World,” “The Haunted Mansion,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean,” as they are gentle on expectant mothers.

Second Trimester

In the second trimester , pregnant women may have more energy and feel more comfortable walking and enjoying the park. They can continue to enjoy the rides mentioned earlier and may also consider attending live shows and parades to experience the park’s enchantment while seated. Always remember to make time for rest and avoid rides with sudden motions or jerky movements.

Third Trimester

When entering the third trimester , expectant mothers should take additional precautions while at Disney. Swelling might increase, and the desire to rest may be significantly higher. Avoid standing for long periods by choosing restful attractions, such as “The Carousel of Progress,” “The PeopleMover,” or simply taking a peaceful boat ride through the park.

During this last stage, the focus should be on savoring those beloved Disney memories while prioritizing comfort and safety.

Throughout all three trimesters at Disney, it is crucial to heed any advisories and restrictions posted on rides and attractions. Always consult with a healthcare professional about particular concerns or limitations regarding visiting Disney parks while pregnant.

Navigating Disney during pregnancy can be a memorable experience by staying informed, mindful, and adapting to the ever-changing needs of the expectant mother.

Magic Kingdom

There are many things to consider when planning a trip to Walt Disney World while pregnant. Walt Disney World is probably the most “pregnant-friendly” theme park one can attend. Here is our guide to visiting Walt Disney World when pregnant.

First, it must be noted that anyone who is traveling to Walt Disney World while pregnant should consult their doctor on what is appropriate for them. Always go by doctors’ recommendations before what might be stated in this article.

Know What Rides Are Typically Safe

Gran Fiesta Tour

There are several rides at Walt Disney World that are typically considered to be safe for pregnant riders. These are going to be the rides with no height requirement.

At Magic Kingdom rides with no height requirement include Astro Orbiter, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world”, Jungle Cruise, Mad Tea Party, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan’s Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, and Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid. All these rides are relatively tame.

In Epcot, Frozen Ever After, Gran Fiesta Tour, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Living with the Land, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Spaceship Earth are typically safe for pregnant people.

In Animal Kingdom, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Na’vi River Journey, and TriceraTop Spin are all on the no height requirement list. However, it should be considered that Kilimanjaro Safaris can get quite bumpy, therefore caution should be exercised before riding.

In Hollywood Studios, the only ride without a height requirement is Toy Story Mania.

Take Breaks in Quick Service Dining Locations or Shows

pizzerizzo

There are many great quick-service dining locations at each of the parks that have a decent bit of indoor seating. These locations are great for rehydration and refueling with an air-conditioned break, and do not require any advance dining reservations. If you are visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios, check out ABC Commissary, Backlot Express, PizzeRizzo, or Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. At Magic Kingdom Pinocchio’s Village Haus, Pecos Bill’s, Columbia Harbor House, and Cosmic Ray’s all have a large amount of indoor seating. At Disney's  Animal Kingdom, you can find relief from the heat at Satu'li Canteen, Pizzafari, and Restaurantosarus. EPCOT has many indoor quick service locations, however some of the locations with the most indoor seating are Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the American Adventure pavilion, Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavilion, and Sommerfest in the Germany pavilion.

There are also several incredible shows to enjoy while giving those feet a rest. At Magic Kingdom, look out for Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, or Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. At Epcot, check out any of the shows in the pavilions throughout the World Showcase. At Animal Kingdom, you may want to check out A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King, It’s Tough to be a Bug, or Animal Encounters: Winged Encounters – The Kingdom Takes Flight. Finally, at Hollywood Studios MuppetVision 3D, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-a-Long Celebration, and Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage are all fun shows to see.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Welcomes New Baby Elephant to Walt Disney World

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Welcomes New Baby Elephant

The Animal & Science Operations staff at Disney’s Animal Kingdom have announced the birth of a female baby African elephant at the theme park.

The Details

The baby elephant was born to mom Nadirah, and the 218 pound calf, who has been named Corra, is currently backstage bonding with mom.

The animal care staff say what makes this birth extra special is that Nadirah herself was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2005, making her baby the first second-generation calf.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Welcomes New Baby Elephant

Nadirah’s sister Luna was present for the birth, and soon the calf will be big enough to meet the rest of her family, including her grandma, Donna, and her other aunt, Stella.

It’s common for adult females in the herd to assist in raising young elephants until they are considered to be independent, typically around 8 years old.

Dr. Mark Penning, Vice-President of Disney’s Animals, Science & Environment, said of the birth, “I’m over the moon to share that for the first time since 2016, an African elephant calf was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. It’s been very special for me and the team to watch first-time mother Nadirah embrace her new motherly instincts and nurture the sweet bond with her baby girl.”

About the Birth

African elephant births like these are carefully planned through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan . This program helps ensure the responsible breeding of endangered animals in managed care.

Nadirah became pregnant through natural breeding in early 2022, and she’s received special care from the animal care team for the entirety of her nearly 22-month pregnancy.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Welcomes New Baby Elephant

Disney says under the expert care of animal keepers, their veterinary team, and scientists, mother and baby will undergo continued post-natal exams, and spend several days bonding before they are ready to join the rest of the herd.

During this bonding period, the elephant team will be watching for the pair to share key moments like successful nursing and weight gain.

This has been a busy year for animal births at Walt Disney World, including welcoming baby duikers , Red river hogs , Cotton-Top tamarins , and African antelopes …and now, Corra.
