17 Carnival Cruise Ship Bars and Lounges

Picture of Doug Parker

Doug Parker

  • October 21, 2019

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Carnival Cruise Line’s ships have a wide variety of bars, lounges and nightclubs on board. After all, there’s a reason they’re known as The Fun Ships. Whether you’re looking to meet a friend for a quiet pre-dinner cocktail or grab a Miami Vice while soaking up the sun, you’re sure to find a venue that will meet your needs.

While not every Carnival ship will feature all the bars listed below, each will have a wide enough assortment to make sure you only wind up singin’ the blues if you want to do karaoke.

1. Alchemy Bar

CARNIVAL SUNRISE ALCHEMY BAR

Don’t come to this vintage-style hot spot looking for a beer or a glass of wine. The specialty of the house — and the only thing offered — is cocktails. The specially trained mixologists take their time in carefully crafting each cocktail, and the drinks here won’t be found anywhere else on board. Not sure what you want? Tell them what you tend to like, and they’ll whip up a personalized cocktail from scratch. This is the perfect place to grab a drink before dinner or after a show.

2. Havana Bar

havana bar inside

First introduced on the Carnival Vista , this beautiful space with a Cuban flair is a great place to relax during the daytime. But when the sun sets, get ready to shake your groove thing. There are usually live bands playing, and the fun doesn’t stop until the wee hours. Make sure to try one of the specialty cocktails, including fantastic mojitos.

3. RedFrog Pub & Brewery

CarnSunRedFrog1

For many cruisers, the RedFrog Pub is synonymous with Carnival. It’s the place they head to when they board the ship, and it’s the spot they head to again and again while sailing. Not only does it offer a wide variety of beers (including the ParchedPig and ThirstyFrog offerings, which are only available on Carnival ships). There’s also a wide selection of fun drinks (including those ginormous “fishbowl” cocktails perfect for sharing) and an assortment of games. Plus, there always seems to be something going on here, from trivia to live bands to karaoke.

4. Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse

Carnival Horizon

One of the newest additions to the Carnival line-up, this incredible brewhouse – featuring beers made right on the ship – is quickly becoming a fan favorite. And why not? Aside from the beers and specialty cocktails, the brewhouse just happens to be located in Flavortown (aka Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse), meaning you can get some incredible grub to go with your beverage of choice. In the evening, bands will hit the stage, usually offering up the kind of country music that will make you think you’ve strolled into a honky-tonk.

5. RedFrog Rum Bar

IMG 9464

Named after Red, the frog who took that whole “paint the town red” saying literally, this place is always hopping when the sun is shining. From Dirty Mojitos to the Frog’s Island Iced Tea, rum rules, although the bartenders also serve up a wide selection of alcohol-free treats. Too lazy (sorry, relaxed.) to get up from your lounger? There’s usually a waiter wandering around who’ll happily grab your next drink.

6. BlueIguana Tequila Bar

Day 13 14

Been thirsting for a margarita? This is the place you want to head. Whether you want something spicy or fruity, this place has you covered. (Want something offering both? Try the Spicy Chipotle Passion Margarita.) Those looking for a zero-proof margarita, or even a Miami Vice, will find it here.

7. Piano Bar (Sometimes known as Piano Bar 88)

CarnHorizonPiano88

You know those places where everyone stares at you when you start singing along with the performer? This is definitely not that place. From evening to late-night, drinks flow while a piano player tickles the ivories and tunes are crooned by everyone who walks through the door. Offering specialty cocktails and martinis like the “Ragtime” and “The Standing O,” the Piano Bar’s menu will provide liquid courage to those a little reluctant to join the fun.

8. SkyBox Sports Bar

Carnival Horizon

Even if you don’t have game, the SkyBox Sports Bar does. It offers snacks like hot pretzels and a variety of drinks to enjoy while you watch the big game or your favorite team on one of the big screens. Even if you miss a game because you were somewhere else on the ship, you can swing by and check out the rolling ticker for all the latest scores. You can also grab a controller and play some of the latest games with your own personal team.

9. Casino Bar

Carnival Horizon

Inside the casino, you can enjoy a top-shelf beer, wine, or cocktail at the Casino Bar. Recently, they’ve also added specialty cocktails to the menu like the classic Manhattan or Vesper as well as twists on favorites like the Carnival Cosmo and a Tropical Mule.

This is almost always one of the spots that stays open the latest, but be warned: it can also be incredibly smoky thanks to this being one of the few places on the ship where smokers congregate.

10. The Library Bar

Carnival Horizon

On select ships in the Carnival fleet, you’ll find that the library offers not only great literature but some pretty fantastic wines, too. What you won’t find is a bartender. Instead, there are state-of-the-art dispensers offering a variety of vinos. One thing to be aware of: If you have the Cheers! package, it won’t cover the cost of these wines. If you want to use your beverage package, head to an actual bar instead.

11. Beer Station

pour your own beer carnival

You’ve heard of BYOB, right? Well, this is PYOB, as in Pour Your Own Beer! If you’re feeling thirsty but don’t necessarily want to deal with a bartender, grab a glass and fill it at one of these convenient stations. Usually, you’ll find Carnival’s signature ThirstyFrog Red, as well as a couple of popular selections like Miller Lite or Heineken. As with the Library Bar’s wine dispensers, if you purchase CHEERS! these self-serving pours will not be included in your all-inclusive beverage package.

12. Aft Pool Bar

TIDES BAR

Most people spend their time at the main pool, getting drinks from the RedFrog Rum and BlueIquana Tequila bars. But for something a bit quieter, most ships offer an aft pool with a bar. For example, on the Carnival Sunrise , the Tides Bar can be found near the quieter aft bar. While you won’t find hairy chest competitions or live music back here, you will find a place to have a drink while staring at the horizon.

13. Serenity Bar

Sunrise Serenity Bar

The Serenity Deck is, of course, the adults-only area on Carnival ships. And let’s face it, how much fun would that be without a bar? This one offers an interesting array of sangrias, from traditional to white peach, all available by the glass or the pitcher. There are also a variety of specialty cocktails, including the Serenity Cape Cod and several “skinny” cocktails.

14. Atrium Bar

IMG 7349.JPG

The moment you step aboard most Carnival ships, there sits the atrium bar, waiting to serve you that all-important let’s-get-this-cruise-started cocktail. But honestly, we suggest heading someplace else for that initial drink. Why? This space gets pretty crowded during those first few hours. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the atrium bar over the course of the week, given that it’s central location makes it a popular place to meet friends for drinks.

15. SportsSquare Bar

IMG 9681

Although mostly only found on the Dream-class ships, the SportsSquare Bar is a great place to quench your thirst between rounds of mini-golf. The pretty much stick to the basic beer, wine and cocktail selection here, but it’s quicker and easier than trekking to another bar for something fancier, right?

16. JavaBlue Cafe

javablue

I know, you’re thinking, “Doug, why is the coffee shop listed here?” And all I can do is assume you’ve never had one of their spiked milkshakes or specialty coffees. Did I mention that they’re covered by the Cheers! program? Because they are.

17. RedFrog Tiki Bar

CL MD RedFrog tiki rend

At the moment, the only way you can get your tiki bar on is by picturing yourself on the currently-under-construction Mardi Gras . But once that ship debuts, this two-story poolside oasis promises to be a major hot spot. Not only will it be a great place to see and be seen, but it’ll serve up rum-based cocktails like the Polynesian Punch and the Jungle Bird.

Need a bit more convincing? We promise that a few sips of the Alchemist’s Sidecar with its hints of citrus, cognac, and lime will cause you to never look at a martini the same way.

5. BlueIguana Tequila Bar ™

Sometimes the name says it all. The BlueIguana Tequila Bar ™ is a taste of south-of-the-border spirits in a poolside atmosphere that places you squarely inside a Mexican paradise without ever leaving the ship.

Of course, you’ll have your choice of authentic Mexican tequilas and beers, frozen cocktails, and a lengthy list of mixed drinks to help put you in the right mood. The Dock House

An effortlessly elegant yet casual counterpart to the view-focused scene outside, the Dock House is *the* place to go for some healthy indulgence or a sparkly delight. With a fine selection of spritzers, detox mocktails, and Mediterranean-inspired drinks, it offers bright flavors that are anything but laid-back and live acoustic sounds that add up to the cozy atmosphere. Whether after working up a sweat or while relaxing at the Well-being Pool, there’s no better way to thank yourself for taking care of your mind, body, and soul with a toast. So embrace our detox-retox philosophy and cheers!

Athletic Club Bar

Whether you’re looking for the right spot to refuel after a workout sesh or to bask in sweeping ocean views with an ice-cold beer in hand, the Athletic Club Bar offers everything from restoring ginger shots to cold-pressed juices and low-ABV cocktails that will make you fall in love. A sporty bar right in the heart of the (social) action, it’s just steps away from the active training zone, boxing ring, basketball court, and oversized deck games, so every sip comes with a side of lively ambiance.

Draught Haus

Casual yet discerning beer-connoisseur-approved, our stylish Draught Haus features a variety of beers on tap, a wide range of artisanal bottles, boiler makers, and shot cocktails. Sip on artisanal brews while drinking in endless ocean views from a cozy window seat, stop for one of our “All Day Breakfast” shots before heading out, or just grab a growler and bring your expertly curated craft beer with you.

Located on our sun deck right above the pool (because any pool area worth its sea salt should have more than one bar), the Sun Club is the go-to spot to grab a frozen drink, sip on a tropical cocktail, and post up for optimal sun-soaking during the day, and people-watching during our iconic nighttime pool parties.

The Social Club Diner & Bar

The Social Club is an ode to carnival classics both in fare and in spirit. From fairground staples like pretzels and hotdogs to modern takes on milkshakes and floats (which can be spiked with a lil booze for an adult-friendly upgrade), our signature drinks and treats are just as photogenic as they are stacked high with cookies, frosting, and candy. But we don’t call it “social” for nothing — this diner is perfect for playing a game of shuffleboard, board and card games, and more.

The Loose Cannon

Inspired by seaside bars in Brighton, UK, The Loose Cannon is a nautically-themed dive bar boasting lively music and animated processions with equally spirited bar keeps ready to ignite a heart chant at a moment’s notice. With uncharted trivia nights, a real cannon to kick off the festivities, and a signature drink menu featuring hits like El Capitano’s Gun Powder and the mischievous Shoctopus, The Loose Cannon is one of those places to go for the drinks and stay for the fun.

The Red Bar

Tucked in the back of Razzle Dazzle, the Red Bar offers as much flair as its parent eatery. With a signature drink menu featuring bottomless drag-inspired bevvies like the glittery champagne-based “YAAASSS Queen,” some of the most Instagram-worthy blends ever seen (you can’t miss the popcorn old-fashioned), and beloved concoctions with a new spin, The Red Bar’s cocktail program is definitely one to raise your spirits.

The Grounds Club

It’s early. You’re still a bit blurry, and coffee is the only thing you can focus on right now. Luckily, the Barista on board is pouring a Double Shot Almond Milk Latte in the most satisfying way you’ve ever seen, and this is exactly what you can’t start your day without. And when the fresh flavors of Intelligentsia’s direct-trade coffee explode in your mouth, you’ll know that The Grounds Club is just like your favorite coffee shop at home… but with the very best brews and unrivaled ocean views.

Like our martinis, we like to shake things up whenever we create elevated experiences for you — and our Bar Tab is a nod to that. To add an extra shot of opportunity to the exceptional quality and fair value you’ll always find on board, we’re topping off every Bar Tab you pre-purchase with onboard credit for a few extra rounds on us during your voyage. Cheers!

What’s a Bar Tab, and how does it work?

Bar Tabs are pre-purchased onboard credit set aside specifically to be spent on drinks — from alcohol bevs to fresh-pressed juices and elaborate coffee drinks. Available for purchase up until 24 hours before sailing , our Bar Tabs can be used both on the ship and at The Beach Club at Bimini. Pre-purchase a $100, $200, or $300 Bar Tab and score bonus onboard credit to boost your drink experience. They are not available for purchase on the ship and are non-refundable once your voyage starts, so if you like fresh-pressed juices, barista-crafted specialty coffees, phenomenal mocktails, spirited drinks, and alcoholic bevvies, make sure to add a Bar Tab to your booking. Bottoms up!

What’s in it for me?

Apart from helping you stick to your budget, we’ll give you up to $50 on onboard credit to be spent on premium drinks whenever you add a Bar Tab to your booking. Go ahead, and reward yourself for your fabulous preplanning skills with a few extra drinks.  Terms and Conditions apply

Is this a bar package?

No. We offer fair prices across the ship and have already included all essential drinks and tips in our voyage fares. This way, you don’t have to deal with trying to calculate how many drinks you need to have per day to see "value" in a package, unreasonable rules like requiring everyone in a cabin to purchase a drink package (and ending up subsidizing the drinking habits of fellow Sailors), or paying for brands you don’t even like.

Can I use it to buy drinks for other people?

Of course! Your Bar Tab covers any premium drink — whether it’s for you, your cabin mate, or someone you just befriended on board. Different than traditional packages, we don’t require every Sailor within a cabin to purchase a Bar Tab, so you can feel free to not get one or use yours however you like.

How can I start my bar tab?

Simply head over to the My Account section and you’ll be able to lock it in.

Fancy some bubbles?

We love finding reasons to celebrate. And from our partnership with Möet Chandon Impérial®, our curated champagne lounge, and one-of-a-kind champagne tables, you can see that we take our champagne pretty seriously.

SHAKE. POP. FIZZZZ

Save water. Drink champagne.

Shake for Champagne™ whenever you feel like raising a glass, and enjoy effortless sips of bubbly with our on-demand bottle service. Just open up the Virgin Voyages App and give your phone a shake to see a secret button appear. Tap it, and a bottle of Möet Chandon Impérial® will be delivered to you, so you can drink in the moment with a great sparkly wine no matter where you are on board.

Uncharted culinary delight on the high seas

With everything from a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence-winning restaurant to fresh, ship-made pasta, full-on Korean bbq, and late-night breakfast already included, it’s pretty easy to indulge on board.

See the secret lounges where the crew on a new ultra-luxury cruise ship spend their free time — from a spa to a hidden bar

  • Silversea's new Silver Ray cruise ship has 544 crew members to tend to its 728 guests.
  • The ship has 333 crew cabins and 540 beds, which means some have to share their rooms.
  • The workers spend their free time in various common areas like a secret bar and small spa.

Insider Today

It takes a village to keep a cruise ship running . And after a long day of work, the villagers deserve a beer and a massage.

On luxury cruise line Silversea's new ship, Silver Ray , guests can dine on free tins of caviar, luxuriate in the complimentary spa, and drink as many fancy cocktails as their hearts desire.

It's one of Silversea's parent company, Royal Caribbean Group's , most high-end and contemporary ships. And much of its ritzy onboard experience is made possible by the crew.

Silver Ray has 544 crew members to tend to its 728 guests.

cruise ship bar names

This one-to-1.3 staff-to-guest ratio is hard to miss, from the suite's affable butlers to the workers who remember your name after meeting you once in passing.

This kind of high-touch service is, in part, what distinguishes mass-market cruise lines from their luxury counterparts.

Workers' hours vary vastly depending on their positions.

cruise ship bar names

For example, some bakers work overnight to prepare the bread for breakfast service, while others — like some of the bar stsff — don't start work until the afternoon, although their shift could go into the early morning hours as well.

They can head to the gym to decompress after a long day (or night) of work.

cruise ship bar names

Alessandro Zanello, Silver Ray's captain, told reporters during a media panel in June that he thinks the crew gym on Silver Ray "is better than most of the guest gyms on previous ships."

It looks less than half the size of the guest one on Silver Ray — but at it's furnished with staples like treadmills, free weights, and resistance equipment.

What better way to recover from a workout than to sit in the steam room?

cruise ship bar names

That's right. Silver Ray also has a staff-only spa.

The compact space has a steam room and two plush massage chairs separated by a curtain. They're first come, first serve — and, of course, in high demand, Zanello said.

Silver Ray's guests can indulge at the ship's eight bars.

cruise ship bar names

The crew has a bar, too.

Most of the ship's guest-facing bars are posh and elegant. This one feels more contemporary, with modern light fixtures and trendy art pieces that brighten the pockets of seating.

Or, they can spend their free time lounging in the dayroom.

cruise ship bar names

Here, folks can chit-chat at a large window-lined booth or charge their phones while perusing the internet (using Starlink , of course).

The dayroom is also equipped with the same coffee machines as the one available in the guest observation lounge. So, instead of sharing an old pot of black coffee, the team can instantly brew themselves a latte or cappuccino.

The 2,350 workers on Royal Caribbean Group’s new world-largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, has a game room stocked with consoles.

cruise ship bar names

Unfortunately, Silver Ray doesn't have a staff-only game room . But at least the lounge has a foosball table!

The conjoined outdoor space is much simpler, furnished with only a few seats and tables.

cruise ship bar names

Workers are also welcome to sunbathe in a small sliver of the guest area on the top deck. But with that comes rules, like no music, food, drinks, or nudity, according to a sign posted on a crew bulletin board.

Don't expect to see all of your waitstaff at the breakfast buffet.

cruise ship bar names

They have their own small buffet, stocked four times daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night from 10:30 p.m. to midnight.

The crew represents 45 nationalities worldwide. To accommodate all these backgrounds, Rohit Dimir, Silver Ray's executive chef, told reporters during a ship tour in June that their meals are generally a mix of global cuisines, from "oriental soup" to salads and grilled foods.

The adjacent dining room is open around the clock.

cruise ship bar names

Andrea Tonet, Silversea's vice president of product strategy, told reporters that about 98% of Silver Ray's private and public spaces have ocean views and floor-to-ceiling glass walls.

While the crew mess doesn't have these expansive windows, it does have small portholes that brighten the dense space.

More contemporary art — like a print of "Girl with a Pearl Earring" with a face tattoo — brings personality to the large dining room, as do the television screens streaming programs like Fox News.

There’s nothing better than decompressing alone in your bedroom after a long day of work.

cruise ship bar names

For some workers, "alone" isn't part of the equation.

Silver Ray has 364 guest suites (the smallest of which is pictured above), all with sumptuous amenities like walk-in closets, balconies, and butlers.

In comparison, the ship's 333 crew cabins have 540 beds, which means some have roommates.

On the bright side, Zanello said some accommodations have more than one TV. So, if Fox News in the dining room isn't cutting it, and you don't want to watch your roommate's movie, at least you'll have your own TV.

After all, happy crew, happy cruise.

Ruby Princess cruise ship damaged while docking in SF; passengers still waiting to depart

KGO logo

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Ruby Princess cruise ship hit Pier 27 in San Francisco while docking Thursday morning, the U.S. Coast Guard says.

The Coast Guard says there is damage to both the ship's hull and the dock.

In a statement, Princess Cruise described the collision as "unexpected contact" as they were docking just after 6 a.m.

At 9:40 p.m., Ruby Princess told ABC7 News in a statement the departure time frame has not yet been determined, as the damage is still being assessed:

Princess Cruises is in continued discussions with the U.S. Coast Guard regarding clearance for Ruby Princess to depart San Francisco, but a departure timeframe has not yet been confirmed. The safety of our guests and crew remain our top priority, and Ruby Princess will depart once the ship is deemed by U.S. Coast as fit to sail. The cruise line's technical experts and shoreside team will remain working on this situation, and the ship will set sail from San Francisco should clearance to depart be received at any time tonight. Additional updates regarding the ship's status and revised itinerary will be provided in the morning. Princess will also be providing a goodwill gesture of compensation once the full effect of the necessary changes is known.

While that departure time is still being determined, Princess Cruises says passengers boarded at 11:30 a.m.

Thursday morning, the ship had 3,328 guests on board with 1,159 crew members and was completing a 10-day cruise to Alaska that left San Francisco on June 26.

"I noticed we were spinning pretty quick, to be that close to the dock, and I was mid-ship, portside, looked out the window and we smacked into the dock," Sacramento resident and passenger Paul Zasso told ABC7 News.

Passengers still on board and those on the ground were trying to get a glimpse of the damage.

"It was surreal and you could definitely feel it," Sacramento resident and passenger Jeremy Jordan told ABC7 News. "It wasn't like things falling off the shelves or anything like that, kind of like when you get the tugboats coming up against us. So yeah... it was different."

While on scene, ABC7 News watched as San Francisco police surveyed the ship.

In a statement, Princess Cruises reported no injuries, adding, "At no time were any guests or crew in danger."

"It was so funny, because one of the dock guys, you can hear him yell out like 'whoa' and then you can kind of hear it just slowly going in... and when he came back out, I wasn't sure what to see," Jordan added.

The shouting from the dock worker is what woke up Jordan's wife. The couple, avid cruisegoers, said Thursday morning's experience is one he won't soon forget.

"It's ironic, because I think it was yesterday the captain was talking about how he goes into docks and how unpredictable the currents are," Jordan shared. "So yeah, it's a challenge for them to be able to do that."

Passengers still waiting to depart San Francisco

"I don't swim that good. I just think they patch it up," said Jim Simpson.

Simpson is onboard the ship with his family waiting to depart for their trip to Alaska.

After a little creative thinking, we got each other's attention while he was standing on the balcony of his room.

However, Simpson says he's not worried, and that the captain has kept everyone updated.

"It's a 10-day cruise, there's plenty of time, we can make up time moving and things like that. So I don't think it's going to be an issue truthfully," Simpson said.

VIDEO: Cruise ship hits iceberg in Alaska, returns to Seattle for repairs

cruise ship bar names

Now the question is: when will the ship actually leave?

Experts say it really depends on the extent of the damage - which Princess has not elaborated on.

"It depends on where the damage is. Is it at the waterline? Is it above? Is it below the waterline? Is there an actual penetration in the hull?" said Steve Browne.

Browne is a dean at Cal State Maritime. He says if the ship is just dented, it's probably safe to set sail.

But if damage is more extensive, that could change things.

"If there's a hole in the hull, then no it would not be safe for them to go to sea until it's repaired," Browne said.

Despite the delay running into the night time hours, Simpson says the mood on the ship remains pretty happy.

He even tells us, his family doesn't mind a little extra time here in the Bay Area.

"We haven't been to San Francisco in a number of years. First time for the granddaughters so we're having fun just looking at the skyline." Simpson said.

Investigation into the bar pilot

We're learning more about the Ruby Princess pilot. In some ways, this is an elite group. There aren't many bar pilots, 52 at the moment with four trainees in the pipeline according to the Board of Pilot Commissioners Executive Director.

The investigation into what went wrong with the Ruby Princess during docking at San Francisco's Pier 27 Thursday morning is in the early fact finding phase.

"It appears the port quarter of the Ruby Princess made contact with Pier 27," said U.S. Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander William Williams.

The Coast Guard which is assisting in the investigation says the pilot is being drug and alcohol tested which is standard in a serious marine incident.

"The Coast Guard has sent two teams, an investigations team and an inspection port state control team to the vessel and will be conducting those inspections and investigations," said Williams.

cruise ship bar names

The San Francisco Bar Pilots are responsible for safely navigating ships they board over the offshore sand bar to docks throughout the Bay Area.

A Spokesperson working with the San Francisco Bar Pilots tells ABC7 News, "We can confirm a pilot was involved in a hard landing at Pier 27 this morning. We are cooperating with all necessary agencies in looking into this matter and cannot comment further."

The Board of Pilot Commissioners tells ABC7 News the pilot is on the Pilot Evaluation Committee which is responsible for trainees and that anyone on that committee would have to be a pilot more than 10 years.

The investigation is now in the hands of the U.S. Coast Guard and other federal agencies who were notified about the early morning incident.

  • Out of the 15 cruises I've been on, Disney Cruise Line is my favorite company to travel with.
  • Disney cruises offer the perfect getaway for adults without children.
  • From animation classes and private islands to Broadway-style shows, I never run out of things to do.

After taking over 15 cruises on most of the major lines , one stands out as my favorite company to travel with — Disney Cruise Line. Disney cruises combine what I love about the theme parks with relaxation and stellar dining, making them the perfect getaway.

I also love that Disney continues to invest in its cruise line. For example, the company's newest ship, Disney Treasure , plans to embark on its maiden voyage in December.

And next year, Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure will set sail for the first time. The company also invested between $250 million and $400 million in a new island in the Bahamas, which I was lucky enough to visit.

Although some may think of Disney Cruise Line as a company that caters to kids, I've had an incredible time on adults-only vacations with my sister, mother, friends, and husband. Here's why I think Disney cruises are the perfect choice for travelers without children.

I've been to several cruise-line private islands, but Disney's are by far my favorite. Castaway Cay , located in the Bahamas, exudes relaxation. Disney Cruise Line is the perfect adults-only vacation, and I can't wait to plan another trip.

As a big fan of the parks, Disney Cruise Line takes those magical elements and upgrades them at sea with incredible food, live entertainment, and relaxation — making for the perfect adults-only vacation.

Its ships are home to some of the most exciting, highly themed lounge options I've encountered, and I love the Broadway-quality productions. While on board, I'm able to do as much or as little as I want.

Everything we know about Disney Treasure, coming to Disney Cruise Line in 2024

Summer Hull

In just a few months, Disney Cruise Line will welcome its next ship, 4,000-passenger Disney Treasure, to the fleet when the 144,000-ton ship sets sail from Port Canaveral, Florida, with its first paying guests.

After a 10-year pause in growth, the cruise line is currently in a rapid era of expansion.

In 2022, Disney Wish became the first of three all-new Triton Class ships to join Disney Magic , Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. In December 2024, Disney Treasure will join the fleet as the second of three Triton Class ships. Disney Destiny is scheduled to round out that Triton trio in 2025. Disney will also welcome Disney Adventure , the largest of the new ships, in 2025 to sail out of Singapore, and an unnamed ship, based on the Triton Class design, to sail from Tokyo starting in 2029.

From a new theme and new restaurants and bars to announced Caribbean itineraries, here's everything we know so far about Disney Treasure.

Disney Treasure theme

Disney Treasure will share much of its footprint and layout with its sister ship, Disney Wish. However, it will have a distinct look that's less "bright-and-airy fairy tale" than Wish and more "mysterious adventure."

Based on renderings, Disney Treasure will feature a Grand Hall that leans into a palette of deep blue, turquoise and gold. Its design is inspired by gilded palaces from faraway places such as Asia and Africa — including the fictitious city of Agrabah from Disney's "Aladdin."

Fittingly, the statue in the Grand Hall will feature Jasmine, Aladdin and Magic Carpet ready to go on an adventure, which is the theme of the ship.

Captain Minnie will even wear a special adventure-seeking outfit while on board Disney Treasure. She will appear on the ship's bow. Out on the stern, the adventurous duo of Peter Pan and Captain Hook will sail along wherever Disney Treasure may take them.

Disney Treasure cabins

Disney Treasure will have 1,256 cabins and suites ranging from interior cabins to a two-story funnel suite — all reflecting the theme of adventure. Disney movies like "Aladdin," "Pocahontas," "Finding Nemo," "Up," "Luca" and "Encanto" will be incorporated into the decor of interior, ocean-view and verandah cabins.

The Concierge Suites, specifically, will feature nods to "The Lion King," while the four Royal Suites pay homage to the tigers found in "The Jungle Book" and "Aladdin."

The signature suite on the ship will be the two-story Tomorrow Tower Suite.

Disney Wish introduced the concept of a nearly 2,000-square-foot, multiroom suite in the ship's faux funnel. While its Tower Suite was "Moana" themed, Disney Treasure's version will feature a futuristic design inspired by Epcot. The Tomorrow Tower Suite can sleep up to eight guests. If you want to book this stunner, prepare for sticker shock. This suite can go for $50,000 (or more) for a weeklong sailing for a family of four.

Disney Treasure restaurants

Each Disney ship has three included restaurants that guests and their dining team rotate through each night at either an early or late dinner seating. On Disney Treasure, one restaurant will be new to the fleet. Two will return from Disney Wish but with a slightly different spin.

Plaza de Coco

This all-new restaurant is only found on Disney Treasure. Plaza de Coco is a Mexican restaurant set after the events of the movie "Coco."

It's replacing the "Frozen"-themed space found on Disney Wish. A similar concept, the restaurant is a "dinner in the round" experience with music, dancing and characters from the "Coco" film performing on stage and making their way around the room during dinner.

As with all the restaurants on Treasure, guests will be scheduled to dine here at least twice, so Plaza de Coco will offer two unique shows.

You can look forward to menu options such as Enrique's port wine-braised beef short rib; Abuelita Elena's shrimp diabla; chorizo street croquettes with chili-lime crema, cotija cheese and cilantro; a blistered poblano pepper stuffed with Oaxaca cheese and green rice; warm coconut tres leches with milk; and margarita lime cheesecake.

Worlds of Marvel

As on Disney Wish, Disney Treasure passengers will enjoy the Worlds of Marvel restaurant . Due to Treasure's longer itineraries, which ensure at least two visits to each restaurant, a new second show featuring Rocket and Groot will be added to the Worlds of Marvel lineup.

This new show, "Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix," will be a music-fueled celebration that honors Marvel superheroes and gives guests a chance to test their knowledge of the Marvel universe.

"Quantum Encounter," the Marvel-themed dinner show on Disney Wish, will also be on Disney Treasure, though in a slightly updated way.

Another Disney Wish restaurant that will be on Disney Treasure is 1923, a California-themed restaurant named after the year the Walt Disney Company was founded. The restaurant is adorned with props, art and decor from Disney's decades of storytelling. On Disney Treasure, the memorabilia will be from Disney's more adventurous films and stories.

Jumbeaux's Sweets

Jumbeaux's Sweets is a new ice cream parlor and candy shop debuting on Treasure. It's inspired by Jumbeaux's Cafe in the movie "Zootopia," and the venue will feature statues of Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

Adults-only restaurants

As with Disney Wish, Disney Treasure will have Palo Steakhouse, Enchante and The Rose, a bar located at the entrance to both. Guests ages 18 and older can visit them for an additional fee. I'd argue this is some of the best money you can spend at sea , given how enjoyable the meals are.

Not just for grownups, the fast-casual, upper-deck Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods will also be on board Disney Treasure.

Disney Treasure bars

Skipper society.

Disney Cruise Line is doing something a bit different with its newest ship, and that's theming onboard spaces to park attractions, not just Disney characters and movies. This concept is evident in the new Skipper Society bar on Disney Treasure.

Skipper Society takes the place of The Bayou on Wish. It's inspired by Disney's Jungle Cruise ride and its wisecracking skippers. Here, guests will find a menu of themed cocktails and light snacks, such as waffles.

Periscope Pub

A second new bar is Periscope Pub, inspired by Jules Verne's "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" (and Disney's 1954 movie version of the book and theme park attraction). It will replace Wish's Keg & Compass as Disney Treasure's sports bar. The bar is designed to look like the Nautilus submarine from the story, complete with a giant periscope, porthole windows and a ceiling designed to look like you're underwater. Watch out for the giant squid below!

The Haunted Mansion Parlor

Disney will replace the popular "Star Wars"-themed Hyperspace Lounge , which debuted on Disney Wish, with the Haunted Mansion Parlor on Disney Treasure. This spooky watering hole is inspired by the creepy atmosphere and happy haunts of the Haunted Mansion park attraction.

The bar will be designed to resemble a first-class drawing room on a classic oceanliner that's been taken into the ghostly realm. Guests can indulge in specialty cocktails (including spirit-free versions) with ghostly messages and ghoulish embellishments (gummy eyeballs, anyone?). They can also spot homages to the original park attraction and its cast of ghostly characters, as well as become acquainted with new seafaring haunts.

Passengers enamored with the Haunted Mansion Parlor will find themed souvenirs in the ship's onboard shops, so they can take home a mirror full of hitchhiking ghosts or a clock that strikes the 13th hour to start up some ghoulish revelry.

Scat Cat Lounge

Just off the ship's Grand Hall is another all-new space designed for adults found only on Disney Treasure: Scat Cat Lounge. This jazzy space where "everybody wants to be a cat" is inspired by Disney's "The Aristocats" animated film, which was set in Europe circa 1910.

Inside the lounge, you'll find hanging lanterns, a baby grand piano and a menu of craft cocktails. On the menu are options such as the Creme de la Creme Martini and the Cat Drink, made with clarified bourbon, amaro, Aperol and fresh lemon, which creates a near-translucent cocktail that highlights the cat design at the bottom of the glass.

Disney Treasure activities

Broadway-style shows.

Disney Treasure will debut "Disney The Tale of Moana" as its new Broadway-style musical. The show will mark the first time Disney has brought the story of Moana to the stage. The musical will feature popular songs and favorite characters from the animated movie.

"Beauty and the Beast" and "Disney Seas the Adventure" will be the two returning Broadway-caliber shows running on the ship's main stage, the Walt Disney Theatre.

AquaMouse, Disney's water ride that debuted on Disney Wish, will also be a signature attraction on Disney Treasure. As on Wish, riders will enjoy an animated adventure with Disney characters before they start twisting and turning around the ship. Treasure will add a third, new show to the rotation of animated shorts, along with the two from Wish.

Called "Curse of the Golden Egg," the animation will follow Mickey and Minnie as they search for lost treasure inside an ancient temple. This new show will eventually be added to the AquaMouse rotation on Disney Wish.

"The Lion King"-themed Sarabi will be the ship's two-story, multipurpose entertainment zone (replacing Luna from Disney Wish).

When will Disney Treasure set sail?

Disney Treasure's maiden voyage is set for Dec. 21, 2024. It will be a seven-night sailing from Port Canaveral (near Orlando). The sailing includes stops at Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Castaway Cay , the line's private island in the Bahamas. Passengers will enjoy three sea days to rest up from their adventures ashore.

The ship will sail weeklong Caribbean cruises throughout its maiden season. Most of the ship's Eastern Caribbean itineraries will include the same ports, but a few swap out St. Thomas for San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Disney Treasure will also offer seven-night Western Caribbean sailings with two sea days and ports of call in Cozumel, Mexico ; Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands; Falmouth, Jamaica; and Castaway Cay.

This is different from the itineraries on Disney Wish, which are three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. The longer itineraries will give guests more time to enjoy the ship, and Disney has created more experiences to keep them entertained.

How much does it cost to sail on Disney Treasure?

Fares for a Disney Treasure cruise are a bit higher than some of Disney's other ships because it's the line's newest ship and only offers weeklong itineraries. The other ships have the option of shorter, less expensive itineraries.

Rates start at $4,211 for an inside cabin (double occupancy) or $6,741 for a family of four. The cost for verandah cabins starts at a little over $8,000 for a family, and concierge cabins start at around $13,000.

You'll find the lowest prices on off-peak sailing dates, often in September, as well as dates outside of popular school vacation times.

Bottom line

Since 2012, Disney Cruise Line has operated a fleet of four ships, but 2022 marked the start of a period of rapid growth for the line. It welcomed Disney Wish in 2022, Disney Treasure will set sail in late 2024 and the third Triton Class ship, Disney Destiny, is scheduled to join the fleet in 2025.

Disney also made a surprise purchase of one of the world's largest cruise ships. That vessel, Disney Adventure, will join the fleet and operate out of Singapore beginning in 2025 . The cruise line will also introduce a new ship to the Japanese cruise market in 2029 with short sailings out of Tokyo.

Additionally, the cruise line added a new highest tier, Pearl, in its Castaway Club loyalty program to mark Disney's 25th year of cruise operations. Its second private island in the Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point , opened this summer.

It's an exciting time to be a Disney Cruise Line fan. Stay tuned for more information about Disney Treasure as additional details are released leading up to the Dec. 21, 2024, maiden voyage.
