Has anyone replace their steering box with a red head or PSC box? Which one would be better. My understanding RH only changes bearings and seals, not the gears! In the other hand PSC is a different design in itself . Beefier shaft as we’ll . Any feedback would be appreciated it?
Didn’t know pcs made one. I know they have a Saginaw pump but not an actual steering gear like RH. People swear by. I don’t read too many complaints or any at all about rh. Blue top is another good brand (worked at rh then branched out on their own). I have a Blue top and it works fantastic. Tighter and little play. I️ replaced My steering box with a red head. It was one of the best things I️ ever did. Took all the play out of the steering and it is smooth. I️ put It in my Ex in 2012. It is still going strong.
Also depending on the application, such as big tires, AGR makes a rock ram with hydraulic stabilizer, gear box and power steering pump that is awesome. I️ had One on a lifted 04 F250.
I tightened up the play on the gearbox a whole turn and lost my wheel return. Brought it back a 1/2 turn and took some of the play out but still has some play and wanders on the highway. 160,000 miles and running 35's. Replaced everyrhing but the gearbox. Guess its time.
I'd call up PSC and ask if they have any more info they can give you. There is no info online that gives conclusive evidence what is internal.

There's an allen head screw with a nut to lock it on top of your steering box. The allen head is 3/16 and the nut is 5/8. loosen nut and turn screw 1/4 turn clockwise. Tighten nut and take for a spin. Make sure to do a full lock to lock turn to ensure the gears aren't binding at the sterrings limits.
