tour 7 churches of revelation

Today we embark on our Journey to the lands of ancient treasures and Christian history with an overnight flight to Turkey. Prepare yourself for a life-changing experience. Get some rest on the flight…Tomorrow you will be walking where the apostles walked!

Day 2: Arrival Izmir

We transfer to our hotel in Izmir, Turkey for the next two evenings. The remainder of your day is free to walk along the scenic waterfront, sightsee on your own and enjoy your hotel facilities.

Day 3: Pergamum, Thyatira & Izmir

tour 7 churches of revelation

Our first visit of the day is Pergamum. The church of Pergamum was praised for its forbearance; (Rev. 2:12-17) it was here that the first Christians were executed by Rome. We'll visit the fabled Acropolis, pass through the Royal Gates, view the foundations of the Altar of Zeus and visit the ruins of the library (which once held 200,000 volumes). Next we travel east to Thyatira viewing the ancient roadway and period columns. Thyatira was once a busy trading center and famous as a "seller of purple," the most favored of the Seven Churches. We continue south to Izmir, which is the third largest city in Turkey and a long time center for Jews and Christians. In Paul's day, Izmir was known as Smyrna and was another of the Seven Churches (Rev. 2:8-11). Our lodging this evening will be in Izmir.

Day 4: Sardis, Philadelphia, Pamukkale

tour 7 churches of revelation

Departing our Hotel in Izmir, we'll see Polycarp's Church and visit the ancient roman agora. Then, we travel to Sardis, which was berated by John for its facade of strength when, in reality, it was weak (Rev. 3:1-6). Here coins were minted and the dyeing of wool originated. We'll visit the gymnasium and synagogue. Our next stop is nearby Philadelphia from where we are challenged to “hold fast” and look forward to the coming of the "new Jerusalem" (Rev. 3:7-13) in the Book of Revelation. Not much is left of the city except for the ancient wall and the remains of a Byzantine basilica in the modern city of Alasehir. Our lodging this evening will be in a lovely spa hotel in Pamukkale.

Day 5: Hierapolis, Laodicea & Colossae

tour 7 churches of revelation

Hierapolis, meaning "Sacred City," was an ancient center for pagan cults until it was transformed into a Christian center in the first century. According to tradition, the Apostle Philip lived and was martyred in Hierapolis. It was likely the hot springs of Hierapolis (in contrast to the cold mountain springs near Colossae) that combined to bring application to the "lukewarm" Laodiceans (Rev 3:14-22). This connection between the cities lies behind Paul’s reference to Hierapolis and Laodicea in his epistle to the Colossians (Col 4:13). Laodicea contains many acres of ruins to visit including a stadium and remnants of a sophisticated water system. Nearby Colossae is well-known throughout Christian circles as the receiver of Paul's letter to the Colossians. Today, the town has fallen into obscurity and nothing remains. We spend the remainder of the day traveling through the Turkish countryside arriving in the port city of Kusadasi where we spend two nights. The day will not be complete without a visit to a local Turkish Rug cooperative.

Day 6: Ephesus

tour 7 churches of revelation

We travel to the nearby town of Selcuk for a visit of ancient Ephesus. Ephesus was once a thriving port town of 250,000 people. Today you can still see the spectacular excavations of the major streets in this ancient city. We view the Library, Agora, theatre, colorful mosaics in the aristocratic Terrace Houses, and a panoramic outlook of the surrounding ancient port area (including a wealth of church history and cultural insight). Then we continue with a visit to the Basilica Church of St. John, which houses an immersion baptismal and is believed to be resting place of John. From here we have an excellent overview of the Ephesus harbor, the Mosque of Jesus, and see the site of the Temple of Artemis, which is listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Day 7: Depart for Home

This morning we transfer to the Izmir airport for our flight back to the USA.

Seven Churches Tour of Revelation

tour 7 churches of revelation

According to Revelation 1:11, on the Greek island of Patmos, Jesus Christ instructs John of Patmos to: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamum, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

For now, we will discover …

What to Expect

The Book of Revelation addresses seven letters to seven churches in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey) ( Revelation 2-3 ). Each letter, as proclaimed by Jesus and recorded by John the Apostle, declares the triumphs and failings of the recipient churches and warns each congregation to repent.

The advice in these letters is prophetic, forewarning present-day Christian communities of the snares that can lure us away from our faith.

It doesn’t mean that only these 9 months are the beautiful periods for Turkey vacation. For instance, regions like Istanbul and Cappadocia offer their visitors a different kind of beauty in each month. Keep in mind that in low season, prices are lower as well when compared to the peak seasons.

Turkey is on GMT + 2 (daylight saving = GMT +3 and operates between late October to late March). This means generally that Turkey is 1 hour ahead of European and 2 hours ahead of the UK standard times. Still it is a good idea to check the local time when you arrive in Turkey and adjust your watch accordingly.

Testimonials

As a young Catholic priest I was a little apprehensive to travel in a Muslim country with as much tensions as there has been in the recent past, but I was really looking forward to seeing the seven Churches which St John wrote to in the book of Revelations, as well as Mary’s house in Ephesus. I could not have been more impressed with your guide Ertunga’s knowledge and professionalism throughout the entire trip. I would have zero hesitations to go back or to recommend Ertunga as a tour guide. It as an incredible historical and spiritual experience.

Frhecker Wichita, Kansas

Enjoyed our recent 22 day trip in Western Turkey visiting many Christian History sites. Ertunga was able to knit together much disparate info, suggesting changes as we went along to compensate for weather problems, etc. I would make the following recommendations: (1) Take Euros and Turkish Lira, not USA dollars, (2) Take eye drops and diarrhea tablets, and (3) Do not pet any cats or dogs – disease spreads rapidly. Best parts of the trip for me was Cappadocia and Priene.

Swaby_commander - Helensvale, Avustralya

Our Biblical Tour of Turkey was more than what we had expected… And this was because of Ertunga and his impeccable planning and handling of our private tour. His stories made all the places we visited more alive….the ruins were impressive even dramatic but as Ertunga explained all these places to us these stones became living and breathing cities
Ertunga, was exceptional and his knowledge of history, Biblical sights, legends, myths was amazing and he had a wonderful sense of humour. We saw everything on our itinerary exactly as we had requested and the food and accommodation was great. We have no hesitation in recommending Ertunga as he made sure that we had and extremely comprehensive and fun filled trip and it was a true Turkish experience.

Roger and Raini - Melbourne, Australia

We are recommended on tripadvisor.

Travel back in time for a memorable #tbt.

Tour Destinations.

Domitian temple, public agora, harbour street, philadelphia, tour program..

Welcome to the Seven Churches tour program! On the first day, we’ll begin our journey to the land of the seven Churches of Revelation. It would be best to fly early to Izmir (Ancient Smyrna), Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB). Once you arrive, we’ll welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Kusadasi. In the evening, you’ll have a lecture about the Book of Revelation of Saint John, followed by a welcome dinner and leisure time.

After breakfast, we will be headed to Ephesus, which is the first of the seven Churches of Apocalypse and was once a thriving city with an excellent harbor, beautiful marble monuments, and the famous Temple of Artemis, which was one of the seven wonders of the Ancient world. During our visit, we will explore the significance of Artemis and discover why Saint Paul stayed in Ephesus for two and a half years. Ephesus is one of the most essential Biblical cities in Christian history. After we visit the site, we will drive to the Basilica of Saint John, where we will study Revelation 1:1 and learn about Saint John’s exile to the Island of Patmos.

After a local lunch, we will drive to Smyrna. The Church of Fidelity and Nonviolent Resistance will read the letter and appreciate being in the 2000-year-old Agora Marketplace of Smyrna overnight in Izmir.

On Day 3, we will visit the Ancient city of Pergamon in Asia Minor. We will start by climbing to the Acropolis of the town, where the Throne of Satan was located. There, we’ll see the foundation of the famous altar of Zeus, talk about Antipass, and learn about ancient daily life and letters to the Christian Community of Pergamon. Next, we’ll visit The Red Basilica, once the Temple of Egyptian Gods and Serapis. After lunch in Pergamum, we’ll drive about 60 kilometers to the modern city of Akhisar. We’ll visit the Ancient Thyateira, the Church of Ultimate Compromises, and immorality there. Although only a tiny portion of the ancient city remains, it was once the hometown of Lydia, the famous patron of Saint Paul (Acts of Apostles, Chapter 16, Verse 14), during the second missionary journey. We will discuss the industries of the Ancient City, the Jews, and the difficulties of being a Christian. Finally, we’ll drive for another mid-50 minutes to reach our hotel, the Lydia Thermal Hotel, which is close to the Ancient city of Sardis.

On Day 4, our journey begins early in the morning with a visit to the ancient city of Sardis, once the capital of King Croesus. Here, we will see the largest Synagogue in the ancient world and learn about the city’s history concerning the letter of the Apocalypse of Saint John. We will also discuss the metaphors of the words of God. Our next stop is the city of Philadelphia, also known as the city of brotherly love and the early Christian community of endurance. We will see the destroyed pillars of the Church of Saint John and talk about the fidelity of Christians and how God rewards them. Finally, we will arrive at Laodicea, the Church of Conscious Compromises,  and understand how earthly pleasures seduce Christians and correlate them with the letters of the Book of Revelation. After our visit, we will take a short drive and spend the night in Pamukkale.

Day 5, the Church of Colossae and the City of Saint Philip, Bishop Papias. After a short drive, we’ll reach the Ancient city of Hierapolis, where one of the 12, Saint Philip, was martyred, according to patristic writings. At the same time, it is the home of Saint Papias, the Bishop of Hierapolis, a friend of Saint Polycarp, a disciple of Saint John, the first church father who wrote about the Book of Revelation. We will enjoy the picturesque view of the hot spring pool as well. We will drive to Colossae, not to see the ruins, but to be there and remember the letters of Paul addressing the Colossians and Philemon. we will commemorate St. Epaphras, the founder of Christianity in the region. After lunch, the services will be over. You may be transferred to the Airport or continue to an extension tour.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1 day 1 – depart home.

Your pilgrimage begins as you board your international flight for Istanbul.

Day 2 Day 2 – Arrive in Turkiye

Upon arrival, you will be met by our airport representative. Transfer to your hotel in Istanbul for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 3 Day 3 – Istanbul

The bejeweled capital of Istanbul sits between two continents and is home to 450 mosques. You will visit the famous Blue Mosque with its six minarets and sparkling interior. Visit the underground cisterns dating to Byzantine times. Walkthrough Hagia Sophia, the largest church in Christendom for 1,000 years, was built by Justinian (532 -537 AD). The church has 107 columns, fossil-embedded, white marble floors, and beautiful glass mosaics. Enjoy the aroma of cinnamon, cloves, thyme, and other exotic spices as you explore the Grand Bazaar. Over 4,000 shops sell everything from herbs to gold. This afternoon, you will fly to Izmir. Dinner & your overnight stay will be in Izmir.

Day 4 Day 4 – Pergamum & Thyatira

Pergamum is one of the seven churches mentioned in Revelations (Rev. 2: 12). It displeased the Lord because it tolerated the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which Christ hated (Rev. 2:13 -17). The fabled Acropolis towers 1000 feet above the town and commands a spectacular panorama. As you pass through the Royal Gates, you will enter one of the great centers of traditional Greek culture. You will see the foundations of the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Athena, and the ruins of the library, which once held 200,000 parchment volumes. You will see the remains of the Temple of Trajan, the Grand Theatre, the gymnasium, and the health center (Aesclepion). Visit Thyatira, once a busy trading center, home to Lydia, the “seller of purple” (Acts 16). Today, it is famous for Persian rugs. Thyatira, one of the Seven Churches mentioned in Revelations, tolerated the false prophetess, Jezebel (Rev. 1: 11; 2: 18 -29). Dinner & your overnight stay will be in Izmir.

Day 5 Day 5 – Philadelphia, Sardis, Smyrna & Colossae

Visit the site of Philadelphia, also one of the Seven Churches of Revelation (Rev. 3: 7 -13). Christ told those who overcame that He would write upon them “the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is New Jerusalem.” (Rev. 3: 12) Today, not much is left to mark the spot. You will see an ancient wall and the remains of a Byzantine basilica. Travel to Sardis, another of the Seven Churches of Revelation. You will be impressed by the massive scale of the Temple of Artemis, the white marble Royal Road, the gymnasium, and the synagogue. The third-largest city in modern Turkiye is Izmir, long a center for Jewish and Christian communities. In Paul’s day, the town was known as Smyrna. It was also one of the Seven Churches of Revelation (Rev. 2: 8 -11). You will see the agora, the colonnaded commercial center where Roman statues can still be seen. Famous as the receiver of Paul’s Letter to the Colossians, the town of Colossae has fallen into obscurity. While you can still see traces of the theatre, the necropolis, and the church, the ancient city is indistinguishable, mainly ruins. Dinner & your overnight stay will be in Pamukkale.

Day 6 Day 6 – Hierapolis, Laodicea & Miletus

Hierapolis is blessed by hot mineral springs and some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in Asia Minor. Paul mentions Hierapolis in his Letter to the Colossians in saluting Epaphras, a fellow laborer, for his love of the brethren there (Colossians 4: 13). The ruins cover more than a mile. You will see the impressive amphitheater with seats still in perfect condition. You will see the city gates, column-lined streets, and arches, which have stood through time and earthquakes. The area is known as Pamukkale, meaning “Cotton Castle,” named for the limestone-laden hot springs cascading from one white-edged terrace pool. The Christians of Laodicea, one of the Seven Churches (Rev. 3: 14 -22), were chastised for being lukewarm, “You are neither cold nor hot” (Rev. 3: 15), and for being too comfortable incorporating pagan and Christian beliefs. In the famous scripture from Revelation (3: 20 -21), Jesus says to the Laodicean church: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock...”. Today, many acres of ruins are to see, including the stadium and columned streets. Visit the excavations at Miletus, where Paul bid farewell to the elders of the church at Ephesus at the end of his Third Missionary Journey (Acts 20). Dinner & your overnight stay will be in Kusadasi

Day 7 Day 7 – Ephesus

Ephesus is one of the Seven Churches of Revelation (Rev. 1: 11). In ancient days, Ephesus was a bustling port town of 250,000, graced with wide, colonnade bordered streets. Today, you will be impressed with the spectacular excavations of the major roads of ancient Ephesus. You will view the library and the vast agora. The Temple of Artemis was declared one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Today, only a single column remains to mark the site. You will visit the Basilica of St. John, the traditional site of his grave. From the basilica, enjoy a commanding view of the area. You will see the Museum of Ephesus for an up-close look at artifacts from the ancient city. You will have time to explore this powerful city on your own and recreate some of its footsteps of Paul. Dinner & your overnight stay will be in Kusadasi

Day 8 Day 8 – Patmos

Today, you will board the Celestyal Olympia and set sail for the Island of Patmos to visit the Monastery of St. John, high on the mountain overlooking the entire island. Walk down to the Grotto of the Apocalypse and the caves where it is believed that the exiled Apostle John lived and was inspired by God to write the Book of Revelation and other letters to the early church.

Day 9 Day 9 – Heraklion & Santorini

Dock this morning in Crete’s port of Heraklion, just three miles away from the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 and partially reconstructed, the elaborate palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. This afternoon, enjoy time in Santorini, one of the most beautiful Greek islands, where picturesque, whitewashed villages topped with brilliant blue domes stand in stark contrast to the sheer drop cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea.

Day 10 Day 10 – Disembark Cruise

Disembark in the port of Piraeus this morning. Enjoy a driving tour of Athens before checking in to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11 Day 11 – Return to the USA

Continue with the Greece Extension or return to the USA.

The Seven Churches of Revelation Christian Tour

  • Print Friendly

(On Site in Laodicea, one of the 7 churches of Revelation)

Our Christian tours featuring the Seven Churches of Revelation is part of our Footsteps of Paul Cruise and will highlight the best archaeological sites of the Seven Churches of Revelation that exist in Turkey or Asia Minor today.

“The cruise and tour will visit Laodicea that has entirely new Biblical discoveries, the sites of Smyrna, Sardis and of course Pergamum and Ephesus. Most Mediterranean cruises will only visit Ephesus and maybe Pergamum. Our clients have an exclusive visit with the best Biblical touring of these sites,”  said one of the hosts, Rhonda Sand.

In addition to these sites, the all-inclusive cruise includes Bible study tours of Istanbul for 2 days, Paul’s Crete, Syracuse on Sicily (of Paul’s journey), John’s Patmos and an opportunity to see Pompeii. Our fun beach stop is Santorini on this cruise.

We take an existing luxury cruise itinerary and a ship that is small enough to cater to our needs and then we create Bible-based experiences that other passengers could only dream of. Our groups are small enough to have fellowship that is meaningful, especially for multi-generational family’s and those seeking deeper Biblical knowledge. The trip is very inclusive, with air and the taxes and fees that go along with it, port taxes, tips, all transfers, the Biblical tours, teachings, etc.

Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.” (Rev. 1:11)

Turkey is hosting all seven of the churches mentioned in the opening chapters of the Book of Revelation . The churches of Revelation were located in Asia Minor during the era of the Roman Empire at the time the book was written around 100 A.D. In the opening chapter of Revelation, the author John send his greetings and then describes a vision he had in Patmos. John’s vision began with specific messages to seven different Christian communities in modern Turkey. Some are addressed to the “ angel ” of the city. It may have symbolized the spirit of the city or refer to a heavenly or earthly messenger.

Paul has sent 7 letters to the people and angels of these 7 churches . The purpose of the letters was to grant hope and assurance to the people who were about to encounter persecutions and austerity .

These 7 churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation are: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea and have a crucial spiritual significance for churches and believers today. It is possible to visit all these 7 churches in one tour. The details of the tour will be as:

Private 7 Churches of Revelation Tour (4 Days & 3 Days)

Day 1 (Flight from Istanbul to Izmir)

We will pick you up from your hotel in Istanbul and drive you to Istanbul Airport for the flight to Izmir Airport. After your arrival to Izmir Airport , we will meet you in front of the exit gate at the domestic terminal; with a sign bearing your name and transfer you to your hotel in Izmir City . You will have free time in the afternoon depending on your arrival time. Overnight accommodation in Izmir.

Day 2 ( Tour of Smyrna , Pergamon and Thyatira, breakfast & lunch included )

The tour will begin with a pick-up from your hotel after your breakfast at around 08:30am . We will start the day with a visit to Smyrna Ancient City which has Hittite remains from about 4000 years ago . Ancient Smyrna is one of the oldest inhabited communities in the world . Polycarp , a bishop from this ancient city from 115-156 AD, was martyred because of his faith to Christianity . John told the Christians in Smyrna not to be afraid to suffer but “… be faithful till death ” (Revelation 2:10-11) and he did exactly what John requested.

We then drive to Pergamum and Asclepion Health Centre ruins. Located on top of a hill, Pergamum has served to Christianity a lot and we will see the ruins with the imagination of the past. Walking down from the ancient city, we will visit the Asclepion , which was used as a health centre in old times. The last stop will be the Thyatira ruins which is in a modern city of Akhisar now. Overnight accommodation in Akhisar.

Philadelphia Ancient City

Day 3 ( Tour of Sardis, Philadelphia, Hierapolis and Laodecia, breakfast & lunch included)

We will start the day quite early around 08:30am and our first stop will be Sardis , an ancient political and cultural center in Anatolia which was the capital of the Lydian Kingdom . The ruins at Sardis are quite impressive such as public toilets, gymnasium and the synagogue and Artemis Temple. Ruins of a small building at the south corner of the synagogue from 4th century AD are believed to be an early Christian church , subject of John’s text on the church at Sardis in Revelation.

Start your adventure in the historic Hippodrome , a former chariot-racing arena that witnessed countless events in its storied past. Here, you’ll discover the Obelisk of Theodosius and the Serpent Column, both cherished remnants of Byzantine history. Stand in awe of the stunning Blue Mosque , also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. Its impressive domes, intricate tilework, and towering minarets create a truly mesmerizing sight that defines Istanbul’s skyline.

Savour the flavours of authentic Turkish cuisine at a carefully selected restaurant. Our lunch stop provides a delightful opportunity to sample regional dishes and recharge for the rest of your adventure.

Next, venture into the awe-inspiring Hagia Sophia built in the 6th century, a masterpiece of architectural ingenuity and a symbol of Istanbul’s enduring legacy. Marvel at its intricate mosaics, soaring dome, and the palpable sense of history within its walls. Then, descend into the subterranean world of the Basilica Cistern , an ancient underground reservoir. Delve into the mysterious atmosphere as you stroll among the submerged columns and illuminated pathways, feeling as though you’ve stepped back in time.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 3 - Izmir

Today morning, transfer to airport for your flight to Izmir. Upon arrival in Izmir, visit St. Polycarp Church in Izmir, whose patron saint is Polycarp, a Christian bishop of Smyrna who died a martyr, one of the Seven Churches mentioned in Revelation. Explore the ancient city of Smyrna (modern-day Izmir) and Agora of Smyrna (Rev. 2:8-11) , known for its rich history and impressive archaeological sites.

Overnight: Izmir

Day 4 - Izmir

Visit the ancient Greek city of Pergamon (Rev. 2:12-17) , which is one of the Seven Churches and is in the modern town of Bergama. Here, you can explore its remarkable Acropolis, the steeply seated theatre, and the well-preserved Asklepion . Visit the Red Basilica , also known as St. John’s Church .

Afterward, continue your journey to Thyatira (Rev. 2:18-29) , now known as Akhisar, another significant site among the Seven Churches of Asia. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the remnants of a basilica and various architectural fragments dating back to the Roman era before returning to your hotel for some well-deserved relaxation.

Day 5 - Pamukkale

Embark on an early morning journey to one of the most enchanting destinations among the Seven Churches of Asia, known as Sardeis ( Rev. 1:11; 3:1-4) , now recognized as Sart. This city, once the capital of the ancient Lydian kingdom during the 6th century BC, is depicted in Revelation as a church in decline. During our visit, we’ll explore the magnificent Temple of Artemis, tour the meticulously restored gymnasium, and witness the reconstructed Synagogue. Additionally, we’ll have the opportunity to view the final sections of the royal Persian Road, which stretches from Susa to Sardeis, a remarkable testament to the legacy of Cyrus the Great.

Continuing our pilgrimage, we’ll head to Philadelphia (Rev. 1:11; 3:7) , now known as Alasehir, which stands as another of the Seven Churches of Asia. Notably, Philadelphia is the only church without criticism in the Book of Revelation. Our exploration here will lead us to the remnants of a Byzantine basilica constructed from brick, featuring impressive high arches and remarkable 11th-century frescoes.

Overnight: Pamukkale

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Kusadasi

Today, start the day exploring Hierapolis , whose name translates to “Sacred City,” originally served as a hub for pagan cults before undergoing a transformation into a Christian centre during the first century. Tradition holds that the Apostle Philip resided in and was eventually martyred in Hierapolis. It is believed that the hot springs of Hierapolis, in contrast to the cold mountain springs near Colossae, played a role in addressing the spiritual condition of the “lukewarm” Laodiceans (Rev. 3:14-22) . This historical connection between the cities is what underlies Paul’s mention of Hierapolis and Laodicea in his letter to the Colossians (Colossians 4:13) .

Laodicea (Rev. 3:14-22) boasts extensive ruins to explore, including a well-preserved stadium and remnants of an advanced water system. Nearby Colossae is renowned in Christian circles as the recipient of Paul’s epistle to the Colossians. Unfortunately, Colossae has faded into historical obscurity, leaving nothing to be seen today.

As we conclude our exploration of these ancient sites, we embark on a scenic journey through the Turkish countryside, eventually arriving at the port city of Kusadasi.

Overnight: Kusadasi

Day 7: Kusadasi

We journey to the nearby town of Selcuk to explore the historic marvel that is ancient Ephesus. Ephesus (Rev. 2:1–7) , once a bustling port city with a population of 250,000, still reveals the grandeur of its past through impressive excavations. Our tour of this ancient city includes the iconic Library, the bustling Agora, the magnificent theatre, and the vibrant mosaics within the aristocratic Terrace Houses. Additionally, we’ll savour a panoramic view of the surrounding ancient port area, offering valuable insights into the city’s rich history and culture.

Following our exploration of Ephesus, we proceed to visit the Basilica Church of St. John . This church is renowned for housing an immersion baptismal and is traditionally believed to be the resting place of John the Apostle. Stop at the site of the Temple of Artemis , an iconic structure listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. To conclude our day, we pay a visit to the House of Mother Mary , adding a spiritual dimension to our exploration of this historically significant region.

Day 8: Cappadocia

Today, take a domestic flight from Izmir to Kayseri and transfer to hotel. Upon arrival, marvel at the fascinating rock formations of Pasabag , also known as Monk’s Valley . These whimsical fairy chimneys and unusual geological wonders create an otherworldly atmosphere that’s perfect for exploration and photography. Traverse the captivating Dervent Valley , often referred to as “ Imagination Valley ” for its bizarre rock formations that resemble animals and other whimsical shapes. Let your imagination run wild as you wander through this natural wonderland.

After lunch, gaze upon the otherworldly landscapes of Cappadocia, a surreal mosaic of fairy chimneys, cave dwellings, and rolling hills. Delve into the rich history of Cappadocia at the Goreme Open Air Museum . Explore the ancient cave churches adorned with intricate frescoes, providing a glimpse into the spiritual life of early Christian communities.

Overnight: Cappadocia

Day 9: Cappadocia

Today morning, embark on a subterranean adventure as you descend into the depths of the Kaymakli Underground City . This remarkable archaeological wonder was once a refuge for ancient civilizations, featuring a labyrinthine network of tunnels, chambers, and passageways. Discover the ingenuity of these underground communities and gain insight into their history.

Immerse yourself in the artistry of Avanos, a town known for its pottery craftsmanship. Visit a local pottery workshop and witness skilled artisans at work, creating exquisite ceramics using techniques passed down through generations. As stated in ancient chronicles, in 1147, Prince Yury Dolgoruky invited his relative, Prince Svyatoslav Olgovich, to see him in Moscow, which was a small castle lost in the boundless Russian forest. Thus, the history of Russia's most important political, economic, cultural, and scientific center began. In the 12th century, Moscow turned into a fortress. By the 13th century, it was already a town, and in the 15th century, Moscow became the capital of the Russian State. Today Moscow, with its history, architectural masterpieces, and innumerable art treasures, has found itself in a whirlpool of global currents determining world development. People worldwide come to witness Moscow's splendors and fall for the charm the capital of the largest empire on earth certainly possesses.
