Talaga’s Point is also home to the Apatot Cove’s beach, aptly named because of the abundance of apatot trees in the area. It’s a perfect spot for beach swimming.

Also called Puntang Mahaba, Hornos Point is the longest of the five “fingers” where you can find the Pebble Cave, a famous spot for prenuptial photos. 

Hornos Point is where you’ll find the stairway-like formations of the Nagmandala Rock with clear and inviting surrounding waters.

The “ring finger” (fourth finger) is called Naiklec Point, which is the home of the Mawakis Cove. Majority of the Five Fingers cove-to-cove tours stop here for a late lunch or snack.

This last stop is famous for its 40-ft cliff jump found at the Tinanlakan Lagoon. The Longos Kawayan Point has a lunch area for tour participants as well as a beach camping site at the Aglaloma Beach. 

The fifth finger is also the home of the Nagbintana Arch rock formation and the Latain Point, an ophiolite rock formation.

Located at the peak of Mt. Samat in Pilar, Bataan, the Shrine of Valor is probably the most important and recognizable World War II site in the Bataan map. 

Also called the Dambana ng Kagitingan, the Shrine of Valor is a memorial cross that pays tribute to the heroism of the Filipino and American troops when the Japanese army attacked the Philippines during the said war.

The memorial cross is 301-feet tall and features the bas reliefs of the country’s national heroes: Dr. Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Aguinaldo, Antonio Luna, Lapu Lapu, and Gabriela Silang to name a few.

The stunning sculptures also include key historical events of the Philippines, including the execution of Dr. Jose Rizal and the Battle of Bataan. 

Collectively, the sculptures are called Nabiag Nga Bato, which means “living stone” in the local dialect of Ilocano.

The conservation center provides protection as well as facilities for hatching and healing.

It’s best to visit during the months of August until February when the female turtles make their way to the shore to lay eggs.

During this peak season, locals and tourists would take turns patrolling the shores to protect the eggs and even watch them hatch.

In November, during the week-long Pawikan Festival, you can witness a ritual wherein they release the turtle hatchlings back into the sea. It’s a unique experience that you can experience during a Bataan tour.

Located in Orani, about 40 minutes from the Bataan Highway, the Bataan National Park is the last remaining closed-canopy dipterocarp forest in the whole Central Luzon.

Thousands of fruit-bearing trees, including coffee, jackfruit, guyabano, and lanzones.

Covering about 23,688 hectares, the Bataan National Park is also the home of two majestic falls, the Pasukulan, and the Dunsulan Falls.

If you want to spend time with nature, this is one of the places to visit in Bataan, particularly during sunset.

Strategically located at the back of the Balanga Elementary School, the Bataan World War II Museum is the go-to place to learn about the province’s participation in the world event.

The museum houses war memorabilia and dioramas, particularly those from the infamous Bataan Death March in 1942, wherein thousands of Filipino and American soldiers marched nearly 69.6 miles from Bataan to Tarlac.

As the name suggests, thousands died during this horrible event. Take a short walk inside the Balanga Elementary School grounds and you’ll find the Surrender Site Marker.

It features a life-size statue of Major General Edward P. King Jr. and his party as they make a painful decision. Today, the marker is a painful reminder of what transpired in the province during the not-so-distant war.

International bird watchers, tourists, and locals are flocking to the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park to see migratory birds in their natural habitat.

The park is one of the notable Balanga, Bataan tourist spots and has recorded about 35 species and 15 bird families, thanks to the city’s wetlands, mudflats, and mangrove forests. The best time to catch these birds in action is early in the morning.

You can walk among the ruins, check out the tunnels and cannons, and even go ghost-hunting if you’re brave enough. This and other historical places in Bataan is included in many Bataan tours.

During the Bataan Death March, the troops marched from Bataan all the way to Capas, Tarlac. Today, these Zero KM Markers are marked with an obelisk as well as a bayonet with a soldier’s helmet thrust into the ground.

A zero kilometer (km) or mile marker is used as control points to measure distances. 

Bataan has two Zero KM Markers because the bloody Bataan Death March in 1942 kicked off from two points in the province: from Mariveles on April 10 and from Bagac in April.

Also known as the Japan-Philippines Friendship Tower, this towering symbol of reconciliation and peace is strategically located 10 minutes away from the Zero KM Marker in Bagac, Bataan.

It was built in 1975 by a Japanese Buddhist organization, Kosei Kai Group. The white structure stands 27-meter tall and features a Buddhist bell and three pillars that are connected by multi-layer rings.

Sometimes called the Bagac Friendship Bell, the structure is a fitting reminder of the renewed friendship between the Philippines and Japan.

This historical landmark in Pilar, Bataan is called such because it symbolizes the bravery of the Filipino people during the time when peace and democracy were threatened by external forces.

The landmark is actually a giant hand holding a 30-foot long sword. Made of concrete and steel, the Flaming Sword stands proudly in front of the Municipal Hall of Pilar.

The province of Bataan will never forget the date of April 9, 1942 for two reasons.

First, it was the tragic day that Bataan officially fell into the hands of the Japanese forces when Major General Edward P. King Jr. signed the surrender document. 

Second, it was the day when the ties between the Filipinos and American forces, and the two countries for that matter, was sealed in blood.

Found in the capital city of Balanga, the Fall of Bataan Marker is a reminder of that tragic time in history and the friendship between the US and the Philippines.

The park used to be the home of the Philippine Refugee Processing Center (PRPC).

The center was a training and transition center for Indochinese refugees from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam who fled to the Philippines in the 1970s.

The former training center is now a techno-economic zone that provides business and employment opportunities for the people of Bataan.

There’s a museum where you can see evidence of the camaraderie between the Indochinese refugees and Filipinos.

The tower also features a Buddhist bell and three pillars connected by multi-layer rings. Also known as the Bagac Friendship Bell, the tower represents the renewed friendship between the Filipinos and the Japanese.

The Pawikan Conservation Center in Morong is a sanctuary for endangered sea turtles – specifically Olive Ridley , one of the five species of marine turtles found in the Philippines. The center also offers educational programs about their protection and rehabilitation.

You can visit the center to learn more about their efforts (and donate if you want to). It’s an enlightening experience since you will learn about the sea turtles and how the volunteers keep track and take care of them.

Make sure to visit during the nesting season ( November to March ). Specifically, head there in November to see the turtles lay their eggs and January to February to witness the hatchlings being released back to the sea. Obviously, there are no specific dates on when the eggs will watch, but if you are around the area you can call the center and ask them to update you of possible hatchlings.

The Zero Kilometer Death March Marker (also known as the “KM 0” marker) is a significant historical site located in Mariveles, Bataan. It marks the starting point of the Bataan Death March , a tragic event during World War II where in thousands of Filipinos and Americans were forced to walk from Mariveles (Bataan) to Capas (Tarlac), covering a distance of about 104 kilometers.

The march took several days and was characterized by extreme brutality, harsh conditions, and a lack of food and water. Thousands of prisoners died along the way due to exhaustion, disease, and maltreatment by their captors.

This site is often the start of historical tours covering the events of WWII in Bataan, Pampanga, and Tarlac.

Bataan is located in Central Luzon . It’s close to our home Angeles City in Pampanga . The capital of Bataan is Balanga. We have been visiting Bataan 3 times so far and today we will write all the amazing Bataan tourist spots.

Bataan is popular because of history since it was one of the last stands of the Filipino/American soldiers against the Japanese in World War II. If you like history and beaches make sure that you read our Bataan travel guide which will inspire you to visit Bataan soon.

Batan Travel Guide

How to get to bataan, getting to bataan from clark.

If you are getting to Bataan from Clark. You can ride a van from DAU Terminal in Angeles City. It will take one hour to get to Balanga and the price is 180 PHP . From Clark International Airport you can go by taxi or Grab to DAU Terminal. It will take you around 15-20 minutes to get there and prices can be around 200-300 PHP by Grab and 500 PHP by taxi.

You can also get a jeepney to San Fernando. Once in San Fernando you get the bus going to Balanga 220 PHP .

Getting to Bataan from Manila by Bus

If you are getting to Bataan from Manila by bus. It will take 3-4 hours depending on the traffic and where you catch the bus. If you are coming from Cubao it will take around 3 hours 250 PHP . Genesis and Bataan Transit are the companies going to Bataan from Cubao.

And more than 4 hours 280 PHP if you are coming from Pasay. Genesis buses are going to Bataan from Pasay.

Once in Balanga Terminal you can get a tricycle or a jeepney to move around Bataan. Prices are starting from 10 PHP depending on the distance.

Getting to Bataan from Manila by Ferry

If you are getting to Bataan from Manila by ferry to Orion. It will take you around one hour to get there. The departure of the ferry from Manila is 7 am and 5 pm. It will take 50 minutes and it costs 450 PHP . From Bataan to Manila the schedule is 9 am and 7 15 pm. There are free shuttles going to Dinalupihan and Mariveles in Bataan from Orion.

Getting to Bataan from Manila by Private Transportation

If you are getting to Bataan from Manila by private transportation. It will take you 2 hours and a half to reach there from Manila. You have to drive to North Luzon Expressway and exit in San Fernando and going thru Lubao. Or you can exit in DAU and take the SCTEX on the way to Dinalupihan.

Getting to Bataan from Baguio

If you are getting to Bataan from Baguio. There are also buses from Baguio going to Bataan. It will take 7 hours to reach there and prices are around 500 PHP .

BEST TIME TO VISIT BATAAN

If you’re traveling to Bataan you can expect considerably small changes in the city’s weather. Humidity is high in the Philippines and the warmest months here are April and May. Basically,  January to March is the best time to visit Bataan as this is the sunniest period of the year and is relatively cooler than other months.

DAILY BUDGET TO VISIT BATAAN

Many of the restaurants and hotels in Bataan are inexpensive yet more than satisfying. A full meal in the city can go for as low as 80 PHP  per person while a bottle of beer can be bought for around  50-65 PHP . Restaurant meals can be bought for around  500-800 PHP  for two people. Pretty cheap, right? And if you only have  20 PHP  in your pocket when you’re feeling pretty hungry, you can even buy plenty of street food with that.

Transportation is also cheap with jeepneys and tricycles going all over town. The main problem in transportation there are big distances and the schedule of public buses isn’t very often. Be patient and make sure you go during the day since at night time there are only a few buses and mini buses going to Bataan. If you prefer joining a tour prices are starting at 1300 PHP for a day trip with lunch, entrance fees and transportation included.

There are also budget hotels costing for around  600-900 PHP  in a promo while three-star establishments go for around  1,000-2,000 PHP , that’s only $19-38 USD ! Things to Know Before Visiting Bataan

Smoking isn’t allowed in the streets in Balanga in Bataan. If you do you will get a fine. It’s similar than Davao.

Bataan Technology Park is the former site of the Philippine Refugee Processing Center for Indochinese refugees. They were coming 80% from Vietnam and 20 % between Laos and Cambodia.

The first nuclear power plant in the country named Bataan Nuclear Power Plant. It’s located in Morong.

The Death March was the starting point of World War II. It’s located in Mariveles in Bagac.

The most popular pasalubongs are dry fishes and dry marine products.

TOURS AND ENTRANCE FEES IN BATAAN

If you want to visit Bataan tourist spots the best way to do it is by private transportation. The entrance fee to the Bataan tourist spots are usually between 30-50 PHP , so affordable. If you don’t have private transportation you can join to tours in Bataan tourist office.

There are tours starting from 1300 PHP with guide, lunch, entrance fees included and van with air conditioning. We did ourselves the tour with the Tourism office with Allan as a guide. Everything was well organized and we enjoyed a lot touring around Pawikan Festival. We had time to attend the Festival, beach party, enjoying sunsets and learn about the historical sites in Bataan.

In the tourist office you will find apart from all the detail information with the most modern system to videos about the places to visit in Bataan. There are also souvenirs and it’s so convenient to go before visiting Bataan tourist spots to have the best information. I would say is the first of this list of Bataan tourist spots that you should visit.

BATAAN TOURIST SPOTS

1. food trip in bataan.

First thing that we did and we totally recommend is food trip in Bataan. We started in Wooden Leaf eating healthy food, delicious juices, salads and pasta. It was a perfect start of the day. Hu Tieu-An a Vietnamese restaurant in Balanga Bus Terminal was great. We enjoyed salads, delicious noodle soups and our favorite Bahn Mi (typical sandwich from Vietnam).

2. Bataan World War II Museum

Bataan World War II Museum is located in Balanga City. The museum is a tribute to the heroes of the Battle of Bataan. The entrance fee is 50 PHP .

3. Mt. Samat Shrine of Valor

It’s a Memorial Site for the Filipinos who fought and died in World War II. The cross is 92 meters high and 11 meters wide. You can go up with the elevator and enjoy a 360 degree view of Bataan. The entrance fee is 30 PHP . After the hike you can enjoy the museum on the bottom where you can see pictures about World War II.

4. Zero Kilometer Death March Markers

The monument is located in Mariveles and Bagac. It was the start point of the Death March of American and Filipino soldiers in 1942. You can also find similar markers in San Fernando on the way to Pampanga.

5. Philippine-Japan Friendship Tower

The tower was conceived by Rissho Kosei Kai of Japan in 1975. It’s for simbolizing the reconciliation and friendship between Japan and the Philippines after World War II.

6. Flaming Sword

It’s a symbol of the Filipino courage and gallantry. You can see illuminated at night and it’s located in Pilar town.

7. Surrender Site Monument

You can find the Surrender Site Monument in the Bataan World Museum. It was built as a marker where Major General Edwar P. King signed the insstrument of surrender in 9th of April, 1942.

8. Bataan Technology Park

It become home for refugees of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. 10 000 people coming from Indochina. You can see in the museum the history and how they came thru Palawan to Bataan. It’s located in the hills of Morong. The museum received the visit of Pope John Paul II. The entrance fee is 50 PHP .

9. Enjoying the sunset at the beach

One of our favorite sunsets in the Philippines we enjoyed in Morong Beach. The colors were amazing and if you love sunsets as we do. Make sure you are on time with a beer or a coconut to enjoy.

10. Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is an open-air museum located in Bagac. It’s full of restaurants and there is also a beach. You can stay in Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar if you want to have a luxury experience in Bataan. You can also tour around with a river cruise or riding a calesa.

11. Plaza Mayor Balanga City

It’s a commercial area where you can find restaurants and now a new hotel. It’s so beautiful at night with the lights to walk around.

12. Zip Line in Bataan

A 500 meters zip line is waiting for you in Bataan if you love adventure. It’s the longest zip line in Central Luzon. Rachel enjoyed the wide views and after enjoying this experience you can refresh yourself in Dunsulan Falls the ending point of the zip line. The activity costs 350 PHP .

13. Tree Top Adventure

You can also enjoy the Tree Top Adventure after the zip line or after swimming in Dunsulan Falls. It’s located in Morong. The entrance is 50 PHP for the Tree and the waterfalls.

More Bataan Tourist Spots

Limutan Falls are located close to Mount Natib. It’s close to Ambon Ambon Falls. To reach there you have to hike 45 minutes from Linao National Road.

Dunsulan Falls

Dunsulan Falls is a perfect visit after trying the zip line in Bataan. Since is finishing there. A perfect place for relaxing after enjoying this adventure. There is an entrance fee of 50 PHP .

Pasukulan Falls

Pasukulan Falls are located in the Southern part of Mount Natib. You can swim and enjoying activities around.

Kairukan Falls

Kairukan Falls are located at the upper side of Kairukan River. You can swim around and you can even camping if you like to stay longer around the area.

15. Kanawan Hanging Bridge

Kanawan Hanging Bridge is another beautiful Bataan tourist spots that you shouldn’t miss. You can take nice pictures and check the views. No worries is safe even the motorbikes go around. It’s free of charge.

16. Visit Old Churches

Our lady of the pilar church.

It was erected in 1607 from the elements of the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque sources. It’s located in Morong.

St Joseph Cathedral

The Cathedral survived to the War that’s why is so popular. It was renovated and it’s located in Balanga City Center.

If you want to have a tour of Historical sites and Churches you can ask for information in the Tourism Office that offer packages of 2 Days starting from 2100 PHP .

17. City of Balanga Wetland & Nature Park

It’s an outdoor museum were you can see the importance of the migratory birds. There is a Festival celebrated every December called Ibong Dayo. You can get a great view of view of Mt. Samat and the Manila Bay.. There are cottages for rent if you wish. The entrance fee is 20 PHP per person.

18. Pawikan Conservation Center

We visited during Pawikan Festival. It’s located in Morong Beach. They are protecting the marine turtles. The Festival is every year in November. The entrance fee is 30 PHP . We took a drone shot where you can see how busy was Pawikan Festival.

19. Mountains of Bataan

Hike tarak ridge.

If you like hiking you can join a two day adventure. You can hike and camping. The peak is 1130 meters above the sea level. If you are planning to hike make sure you get the information in the Tourism Office in Bataan.

Mount Natib

A volcano 1250 meters above sea level where you can see amazing views of Mount Mariveles and Mount Samat.

20. Bataan National Park

Bataan National Park is located Northern half of the Province in the border with Subic in Zambales . You can find waterfalls like Pasukulan and Dunsulan Falls. There are important species of flowers and orchids.

21. Enjoy the Beach in Morong

Make sure that you are bringing your snorkeling mask to swim around the beach in Morong. The beaches are quiet and calm. Most of them are located inside the resorts and they charge around 300-500 PHP entrance fee to spend the day.

22. Beaches in Bagac

You can explore beaches around Bagac: Quinawan Beach, Aglaloma Beach, Laki Beach and Kaibubo Beach on the North.

23. Five Fingers Cove and Laki Beach

There is an entrance fee 300 PHP during the day and 400 PHP if you stay overnight. You can go swimming and if you like adventure you can go cliff diving. The name of Five Fingers is because the shape looks like Five Fingers from the top view. The water is so clear and you can swim around.

24. Sisiman Mariveles Bay and Lighthouse

Sisiman Beach is a rocky Beach where you can find a lighthouse. in the southeast of Bataan Province. You can hike around and enjoy amazing sunsets.

25. Bataan Nuclear Power Plant

Bataan Nuclear Power Plant was built by former dictator Ferdinand Marcos as a solution to what was then an impending oil crisis.It was completed but never fueled. It’s located in Morong.

Where to Stay in Bataan

We have been a few times in Bataan. Last time we decided to stay at White Corals Beach Resort located in Morong Beach. It’s only one kilometer far from the town just in case you need to visit to buy something. A peaceful place where you can enjoy swimming in blue waters. Our favorite was the sunset. The staff is so friendly and the food was delicious. You can also spend your day in the resort for 500 PHP per adult and 400 PHP per kid.

Where to Eat in Bataan

Wooden leaf.

Wooden Leaf focuses in healthy food and lifestyle. You can find delicious juices, there are no sodas. The restaurant is beautiful with delicious and healthy food. We really love the juices, salads and pasta that we tried. It’s located in Balanga City Center next to the market.

Hu Tieu-An And Bahn Mi

A Vietnamese restaurant located in Balanga Bus Terminal. You can find noodle soup, the traditional Bahn Mi which is one of my favorite ones. Salads were great and prices were affordable. As always in the Philippines friendly and helpful staff in the restaurant.

Festivals in Bataan

Pawikan festival.

You can go every month of the year and you will find Festivals. We attended to Pawikan Festival and we really liked it. It’s celebrated in November. You will enjoy dance, music and even a beach party during the festival. The most important part is the realizing of the baby turtles.

There are other Festivals in Bataan like Pagbubunyi Festival celebrated in May with a night procession. Kuraldal Festival that includes a parade celebrated in June.

The battle in Bataan became the last standing force of Filipinos and Americans against the Japanese Army during World War II. When the former troops surrendered, the soldiers were forced to march for about 100 kilometers, known as Bataan Death March.

More than its historical setting, Bataan is also one of the nearby tourist destinations from Manila. Bataan’s geographical advantage includes coasts and bays perfect for summer escapades.

Before the Battle of Bataan of the second World War, Spanish colonialism has also brought massive influence to Bataan province. From huge Catholic churches to preserved olden houses, the classic vibes of Bataan are still a sight not to miss.

1. Shrine of Valor in Mount Samat

The Shrine of Valor in Mount Samat is one of the most notable Bataan tourist spots featuring a tall memorial cross and a Colonnade. This place serves as a homage to the bravery of the fallen Filipino and American soldiers during the Japanese occupation.

The memorial cross stands at 95 meters, with both arms spanning 30 meters. At its base is a relief sculpture made by National Artist Napoleon Abueva entitled “Nabiag a Bato,” or Living Stone. More importantly, its sculpture highlights the fall of national heroes like Dr. Jose Rizal, Lapu-Lapu, and Emilio Aguinaldo.

Interestingly, the memorial cross has its lift, allowing tourists to go up on its viewing platform. From there, you’ll get to experience overlooking the Bataan province and nearby sea from a different perspective.

On the other hand, its Colonnade is a box-like structure with marble cladding. It does also has relief sculptures surrounding the Colonnade. Here, you can read the “Battle of Bataan” history inscribed on its marble walls. At the same time, the eye-catching religious stained glass mural and an altar face the promenade.

Visiting the Shrine of Valor is a family-friendly activity that is also educational for the young. Surrounded by lush vegetation and towering trees, Mount Samat is also a great place to reconnect with nature.

2. Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar

Take a whole new heritage tour in one of the Philippines’ most refined and extensive Bataan tourist spots and resorts, the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan.

This resort houses several restored Spanish-Filipino houses with a rolling 400 hectares of property. In addition, the well-maintained waterways and landscapes, including classical bridges, all perfectly blend for a classic touch. Altogether, Las Casas reflects what it is like during the glorious days of old Manila.

Most of its classical collection of casas (houses) are from different parts of the Philippines. These houses were restored pieces by piece and reconstructed close to their original form.

Walk along the cobblestone roads as you pass from one Casa to the other. Your tour guide wearing a traditional costume will brief you on most architectural pieces or historical significance.

They also have cultural shows to give you a glimpse of the old Filipino way of living. In addition, their Escolta Shop has kundiman songs to listen to that are sure to provide nostalgia to every visitor.

3. Corregidor Island

Although Corregidor Island is part of Cavite province, this former military base is often associated with historical Bataan tourist spots.

Located south of Bataan, Corregidor Island was once a strategic and isolated military base. Here, barracks of soldiers and the enlisted workforce are kept safe, including their artilleries.

There are many things to visit on Corregidor Island. The ruins of the Mile-long Barracks, Battery Crochet, a Lighthouse, and the Malinta Tunnel, to name a few.

A day tour of Corregidor Island is ideal for exploring the historic sightings on the island.

4. Pawikan Conservation Center

One of the educational tourist spots in Bataan is the Pawikan Conservation Center in Morong, Bataan.

It all started as a community-based organization. Now, the Pawikan Conservation Center teams up with volunteers to conserve marine turtles.

August and February make the organization’s busiest months. During these seasons, turtles go back to shore to lay eggs. Volunteers then patrol the beaches of Morong to protect them from poachers and predators.

Once collected, they transfer the eggs to the conservation center until incubation, which takes up to 51 days.

Their month-long Pawikan Festival every November allows tourists to witness the release of baby turtles into the shore. You can even join their Adopt a Turtle Program. With a minimal fee of 50 pesos per turtle, you can adopt and release the hatchlings yourselves.

The center is also a haven for injured or surrendered turtles and is taken care of until complete recovery.

The Pawikan Conservation Center is one of the organizations where youngsters can participate and help promote public awareness of the global environment.

5. Bataan World War II Museum

Complete your historical tour in Bataan by visiting the Bataan World War II Museum, right behind the Balanga Elementary School.

Surprisingly, some volunteers here are retired professionals who have survived the last world war.

This dedicated two-story museum houses memorabilia like dioramas and photographs of the death march from Bataan to Tarlac. You can also spot some olden items like helmets, dog tags, and plates.

On its second floor, you can see the gripping images of sufferings back in the day. In addition, there is also a dedicated space to some memorabilia of the late former first lady, Luz Banzon Magsaysay. She is the wife of the late former President Ramon Magsaysay.

Before your tour, a local guide plays a short clip detailing the involvement of Bataan during the second world war.

Not far from the museum, you can easily spot Major General Edward P. King Jr.’s life-size statue depicting the momentous decision of signing the agreement to surrender to Japanese forces during those times.

Today, this marker identifies as one of the critical Bataan tourist spots holding a relative significance to the bravery and solidarity of our fallen and veteran soldiers in Bataan.

6. Plaza Mayor de Ciudad de Balanga

Right at the heart of Balanga City is a central plaza that captures the senses of classic Architecture fanatics.

The Plaza Hotel, two shopping centers, and the Balanga City hall square an open plaza with Spanish-inspired facades. Across the street, the Cathedral Shrine Parish of Saint Joseph encloses the Plaza Mayor.

With its strategic location, tourists can try experiencing the busy streets of Balanga City either during the day or at night.

Bataan tourist spots like the Plaza mayor are perfect for capturing amazing photos of classic vibes. The city lights uncover a more dramatic ambiance surrounding the plaza at night.

The plaza holds bazaars for night markets during the holiday seasons to promote local products.

7. Balanga Cathedral

The Diocesan Shrine and Cathedral Parish of St. Joseph, locally called Balanga Cathedral, is Catholicism.

Like some historical tourist spots in Bataan, the Balanga Cathedral takes part in the history of the Japanese regime. This sanctuary that survived the war used to be an artillery emplacement.

Today, the Balanga Cathedral forms part of the daily lives of locals. The locals celebrate the feast of Saint Joseph every March 19 and April 23 for their town fiesta.

Visiting Balanga Cathedral is an excellent way for more religious travelers to reflect and meditate.

8. Zero Kilometer Markers

When building the whole picture of the Bataan Death March, you can also visit the Zero Kilometer Markers.

The zero-kilometer markers are starting points where the American and Filipino soldiers are forced to march without food, water, and rest to Tarlac.

Today, the Zero kilometer Markers have an obelisk to honor and remember the bravery of the many soldiers.

9. Morong Beach

Talking about the beach, Morong has plenty of beach resorts to choose from that fit all kinds of budgets.

With its access proximity when traveling from Metro Manila, Morong takes advantage of the nearby Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Take your time and enjoy your stay at your choice of beach resorts in Morong. Most of these accommodations are in a beach-front setting, so your access to the shore is just a few steps away.

While some beach resorts in Morong have pools, taking your feet to the sands and ocean waves always beats the former.

Play all day at the shorelines with your favorite beach games like volleyball and frisbee. Other beach resorts in Morong may offer water activities like banana boat rides, snorkeling, diving, and boating. This makes a perfect place for team buildings as well.

In terms of food, some have in-house restaurants and cafes. Other resort, however, offers pantry spaces where you can cook your food.

Note that tourists do flock during the weekends and holidays. Booking otherwise saves your time.

10. Balanga Wetland and Nature Park

Going back to Balanga is a nature park where you can watch migratory birds flock and leave the area.

Located in Barangay Tortugas, the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park are less than 15 minutes away from the city center.

Barangay Tortugas hosts a feeding ground for migratory birds because of their thick mangrove forest, wetlands, and mudflats. This place has progressed from a plain swamp into a viewing place for different birds.

With the local government’s initiative, the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park are now emerging Bataan tourist sp with the local government’s ambitions. It was not until April 2019, when it was declared an eco-tourism zone .

Today, viewing platforms, binoculars, and holding areas where tourists can safely watch these birds passing by the province.

The best time to visit Balanga Wetland and Nature Park is early morning or late afternoon. You can also enjoy the calm winds and summer breeze without the more harmful sun’s rays during these times.

You can observe at least 35 species of birds here, like kingfishers, stilts, doves, and swallows.

11. Five Fingers Cove

Moving down south, one of the interesting Mariveles Bataan tourist spots goes by Five Fingers Cove. As the name implies, these coves look like fingers when seen on the map.

The five fingers cove is ideally best visited on a day tour thru cove hopping. Let us run down the most exciting things to do in Five Fingers Cove.

Cochino’s Point

The farthest of them is in Talaga Beach, but the most visited spot here is Cochinos Point. The viewing hill here is reminiscent of the rocky slopes of Batanes , less the rolling greens. When you’re adventurous enough, Cochino’s point is an excellent spot to get those legs moving.

Natsu Lagoon

Next to your cove hopping destination is the Natsu Lagoon. This spot has a 15-foot cliff that is ideal for cliff diving activities. The cold waters at Natsu Lagoon are also perfect for catching up with your swimming itinerary.

Pulang Kawayan Cave

Moving mid of the five fingers, the Pulang Kawayan Cave is the most notable spot here. As lovely as Natsu Lagoon, you can swim around the cold waters near the cave while appreciating the solid rock facades. A 50-foot cliff allows for the highest diving spot, though.

Mawakis Cove

The fourth finger is where you can visit Mawakis Cove.

Nagbintana Arch

The last finger cove to visit leads you to more engaging outdoors. From here, you can see the Nagbintana Arch, one with the likelihood of a window-like rock passage. The Tinanlakan Lagoon, on the other hand, has a 40-foot cliff for adventurous tourists.

12. Laki Beach

One of the near-perfection white sand beaches to visit in Mariveles, Bataan, is Laki Beach. Laki Beach is a privately owned property, and camping is allowed at affordable rates. Reaching Laki Beach is thru a boat ride, though.

With the fine white sands covering the shorelines, beach lovers are sure to appreciate Laki Beach. Adding to its charm is its peaceful setting so that you only worry about is when it is time to leave Laki Beach.

Like the other Bataan tourist spots, there are many things to do here besides lingering your feet to the white sands. The other side of this outdoor attraction lets you wander around the hills for short trekking.

When you’re a fan of cliff diving, worry not because you also have many options to try.

If you’re planning to visit Laki beach soon, remember to bring all your necessary provisions. Getting extra drinking water is a pro tip.

Laki Beach is an affordable beach destination in Bataan, thanks to its peaceful and unspoiled location.

13. Sisiman Beach

Among the nearest Bataan tourist spots to visit when staying in Mariveles is Sisiman Beach.

Although swimming is not promising, the rocky beach makes a great stop when exploring nearby attractions in Mariveles, Bataan.

Whenever I hear about Bataan, the instant concept that comes to my mind is the idea of the death march. Though it may sound tragic and all, I can assure you that when I got to visit the place, I was left speechless with the number of spots to visit and the activities to try.

In this article, allow me to shorty share with you the scenic spots in the province.

Bataan Tourist Spots

1.Shrine of Valor

Also known as the Dambana ng Kagitingan, this Bataan Tourist Spot is widely known throughout the archipelago. Situated at the peak of Mt. Samat National Park in Pilar, the cross at the top of the place is a bitter and sweet reminder of the thousands of people who sacrificed their lives back in the Japanese occupation era. This also serves as a viewing deck of the area. At the bottom part, there is a 64-stepped staircase that serves as a commemoration of the arrival of the president on the historic fall of Bataan back in the World War II era.

2. Bataan Nuclear Power Plant

This is a safe facility. I repeat, no need for you to worry because it is secure. Why? It was built, but it was never used. So, no worries about radiation and other harmful effects to one’s health. This educational tour will give you a glimpse of the step by step of energy production.

3. Ambon- Ambon and Limutan Waterfalls

The 60-feet high waterfall will be a sight to behold. Feel the beauty of nature as you explore this Bataan tourist spot and at the same time, beat the heat by taking a bath at the basin part of the waterfalls.

4.Pawikan Conservation Center

The initiative of the province of Bataan to conserve the Philippine marine turtles is indeed admirable. Once hatchlings are declared to be healthy and well, they are being released in the ocean. This way, their population is protected.

5.Bataan Techno Park

This place is a remembrance of how we welcomed and cared for the Vietnamese refugees during the Vietnam war. In going here, you will see a commemoration of the structure built for them back then along with the fusion of culture of the Vietnamese to the people of Bataan. It is believed that the way people in Bataan prepare some of their dishes is similar to the Vietnamese. A manifestation of cultural fusion and adaptation.

6.Wetland and Nature Park

Are you interested in bird watching? Then heading to this Bataan tourist spot is a great idea. The place is flocked with a lot of migratory birds in a particular month of the year. The wetlands along with the lush mangrove are estimated to be visited by about 25,000 migratory birds yearly.

7.Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar

Situated at Bagac, being here will make you feel that you are back in the days of Maria Clara. The houses, the costumes, and everything in it resemble the old towns of the country back in the Spanish occupation. This Bataan Tourist Spot is famous for its scenic spots, educational tour, and beach escapade.

The European vibe of this plaza is enough to make you feel delighted. The city hall, mall, hotel, and all other nearby establishments add up to the overall vibe of the place. During a special occasion, events and shows are also held in this plaza.

12. Mt. Binutas and Sinagtala

The view from the Sinagtala can bring you the solitude that you’ve been searching for. For one, the surrounding is filled with greeneries matched with the fresh cold air. Having a glimpse of the place from the top is never a bad idea.

13.The Surrender Site and Bataan World War II Museum

Situated inside the Balanga elementary school is the actual site when back then American Major General King signed the surrender document to the Japanese. Also known as the Fall of Bataan, this place deserves a visit for a thousand reasons. One of which is to give utmost respect.

Bataan is an accessible and popular destination and you’ll easily find things to do here. Visitors can easily reach this province from Manila by either public or private transportation. Buses from Cubao to Mariveles or Balanga cost up to around P400 or more one way, depending on where you’re going in the province and if you’ll need transfers. You have the option to take the ferry and substantially reduce travel time to less than an hour. The port where the ferries depart is in Pasay, the fare is P499 if you book online. Mount Samat

Mount Samat is where you’ll find the Dambana ng Kagitingan – a landmark that honors the fallen American and Filipino soldiers that fought Japan during World War II. On your way up to the towering cross, you’ll see beautiful views of Bataan and its surroundings. Drop by the World War II Museum to learn about the province’s place in history.

Pawikan Conservation Center

This center does its part in conserving the sea turtle species that live in the area. Poachers turned conservationists patrol the beach to protect the turtles that lay their eggs on the shore. After the animals lay their eggs, the workers and volunteers move the eggs to the Center until they are ready to hatch. You can join the baby turtles’ releasing into the sea during February. The Pag-Asa Pawikan Protection and Conservation Center (3P3C) is in charge of the annual Pawikan Festival.

Hike Tarak Ridge

Nature lovers can enjoy the great outdoors by going on a day trip to Tarak Ridge. This mountain makes you break a sweat to and earn a glimpse of its stunning views. Tarak is part of Mt. Mariveles, and you can follow other trails for a more challenging and longer hike. The ridge has a raw but beautiful, picturesque appearance. You have the option to go to the peak or call it a day after the ridge. There’s a campsite in the Papaya River or along the ridge if you plan to spend the night. To reach the jump-off point, board a bus from Pasay bound for Mariveles and alight at Barangay Alas-asin, fare is approximately P315.

If you’re looking for a quick beach getaway, Morong is the place to go. The cream-colored shore and turquoise waters make for an ideal, relaxing vacation. Go swimming, play volleyball or Frisbee, sunbathe, do water sports or just chill during your stay. Morong is home to many beachfront resorts for different budgets.

Sisiman Bay

This beautiful destination in Bataan has a pebble beach, gorgeous sunset, and fetching picturesque landscapes. Its spectacular cliffs and views of the sea provide you with plenty of photo opportunities. Go on a short walk up to San Miguel Peak for more stunning views of the province. Wait until the blue hour to catch the skies turn into a haze of orange and red before getting dark. Get on a bus bound for Mariveles, and upon reaching the town, hire a tricycle to take you to Sisiman.

Five Fingers

This beach and cove destination got its moniker – you guessed it – because of the finger-like shape it takes. Here you’ll see stunning coves, cliffs and sea views along with beaches that have turquoise waters. The highlights of your trip include the coves and caves of Talain, Pulong Kawayan and Apatot, Laki Beach, Nagbintana Arc, and the cliff diving spot of Tinanlakan. Apatot has a gray sand shore and a beautiful landscape. Laki’s cream-tinged beach makes for an idyllic and relaxing backdrop. Satisfy your thrill-seeking self by jumping off a cliff at Tinanlakan.

There are many tour operators offering day trip packages from Manila. However, DIY is possible. Board a bus bound for Mariveles, the fare is around P315. Once there, hire a tricycle to Porto for P75. At the port, you can hire a boat with boatman/guide for P2500 day trip; P3500 if you want to spend the night.

Batanes is usually associated with stones and rock formations, right? From the province’s structures such as houses, churches, and lighthouses, almost everything in Batanes is associated with rocks and stones. Well, another remarkable tourist destination in Batanes featuring huge rocks and stones is no other than the iconic Valugan Boulder Beach!

Indeed, the Valugan Boulder Beach is one of the most enchanting beach destinations because it features countless enormous boulders on its coast and forceful waves of the Pacific Ocean. Legend has it that these huge boulders came from a destructive volcanic eruption that happened thousands of years ago.
