Descrizione del Safari Park, lo zoo safari di Pombia

Il Safari Park di Pombia , situato nei pressi dello splendido Lago Maggiore , con i suoi 450 mila mq di superficie è uno degli zoo safari più grandi d'Italia . Nata nel 1976, la struttura ospita oltre 400 animali e si suddivide in due grandi aree: il parco faunistico dove, a bordo della propria auto o con il trenino (a pagamento e non sempre disponibile), si possono ammirare da vicino varie specie di animali esotici come elefanti, rinoceronti, giraffe, zebre, struzzi, tigri, leoni e molti altri; e il parco divertimenti con un teatro-tenda per spettacoli dal vivo e alcune giostre da luna park per le famiglie e i bambini (a pagamento), tra le quali segnaliamo la ruota panoramica, le montagne russe, il carosello degli animali, la nave pirata, l'autoscontro, il brucomela e il classico percorso acquatico con tronchi galleggianti. Oltre allo zoo safari (durata della visita circa 30 minuti), all'interno del Pombia Safari Park è possibile visitare anche il rettilario, un piccolo acquario e un percorso pedonale con diversi recinti dove trovano casa lemuri, bisonti amercani, alpaca e varie specie di rapaci. Nel 2022 il Safari Park ha cambiato gestione e attualmente alcune aree sono soggette a lavori di restyling. Ad esempio, nell'area precedentemente occupata dal percorso Dinosauri, con le riproduzioni in scala reale dei rettili preistorici più famosi, è attualmente in costruzione un nuovo playground acquatico con scivoli e giochi d'acqua. Apertura al pubblico prevista nel corso dell'estate 2023. Completano l'offerta dello zoo safari di Pombia numerosi punti ristoro e negozi di gadget, un'area pic-nic e il ristorante self-service. Il parco faunistico è aperto anche con la pioggia tuttavia, in caso di giornate di forte maltempo, consigliamo di chiamare l'ufficio informazioni al numero 0321.956431 prima di programmare la visita. Si segnala che per disposizioni veterinarie non è consentito l'accesso al parco con cani e altri animali domestici.

Lo Zoo di Pombia è aperto tutto l'anno con i seguenti orari: STAGIONE PRIMAVERA/ESTATE Aperto nei weekend di gennaio, febbraio e marzo con orario 10:30 - 16:30. Successivamente, aperto tutti i giorni dal 28 marzo al 29 settembre 2024 con orario dalle 10:00 alle 17:00/18:00. Ultimo ingresso allo zoo safari ore 15. STAGIONE AUTUNNO/INVERNO Aperto tutti weekend di ottobre con orario 10:00 - 17:00 (speciale apertura per l'Halloween Party il 31 ottobre). Aperto dal 1 al 3 novembre con orario 10:00 - 1:00 poi nei successivi weekend del mese dalle 10:30 al tramonto. Ultimo ingresso allo zoo safari ore 15. Speciale apertura invernale (Magico Natale) nei weekend 30/11 e 1 dicembre, 7 - 8 dicembre, e durante le Feste di Natale dal 26 dicembre al 6 gennaio 2025, con orario 10:30 al tramonto. The Safari Park of Pombia is a tourist complex that includes a zoological garden, a safari zoo, and an amusement park, located in Pombia in the province of Novara, founded and conceived by Angelo Lombardi in 1976 initially with the name of Zoo Safari. It is made up of two distinct areas: the amusement park with about thirty rides, with animals in enclosures or cages, and the safari park where the animals live in freedom and can be observed by visitors in their vehicles or special trains.

The Park of Villa Pallavicino in Stresa is a favorite tourist attraction on Lake Maggiore, a paradise of flowers and animals to delight visitors of all ages. The Park was originally the idea of the Neapolitan statesman Ruggero Bonghi, who fell in love with Lake Maggiore and decided in 1855 to purchase the land and build a small house for himself. Going on safari is an idea that excites both children and parents. The chance is offered by the Pombia Zoo Safari Park near Novara.

The park is located not far from Lake Maggiore and, within the limits of local “nature” lets you drive for kilometres across a sunny hillside where animals roam in total freedom. Fearless and curious, the park animals frequently wander up to inspect the passing columns of cars. Close contact is an everyday occurrence, especially in the first section of the park, in the herbivore area.

Ostriches, gnus, zebras, camels, dromedaries and a beautiful giraffe go about their business quite unperturbed by the fact that they are being observed by curious visitors. The ostriches in particular take every chance to roam among the lines of cars, hoping for titbits to eat. Feeding the animals is of course strictly forbidden and potentially dangerous.

As you drive up the hill you enter the realm of the immense hippopotami, followed by an area inhabited by antelopes and huge rhinos. This is followed by two carefully fenced in areas, the first inhabited by "tranquil" lions and the second by magnificent tigers. Leaving these areas and the woodland behind you, you descend to the section that contains the park’s pride and joy: a pair of superb white lions!

The way down is also populated by a variety of animals, including impressively large buffaloes. After a final glance at the monkey cage you finally reach the car park from where you can go on to visit various areas on foot. You are almost spoiled for choice: there is a reptile house, children’s amusement areas, various shops and an entertainment area with a cycle of daily shows.

The Zoo Safari Park provides a unique and fascinating experience in many ways, thanks also to the efforts of its management to develop an attractive idea in the most effective way possible.
