How To Turn Off Toyota Radar Cruise Control

HELP: How do I turn off Radar in Cruise Control Mode???

I have a 2017 Avalon Touring that comes with Entune Premium Audio w/integrated Nav & App Suite. When I push the button to activate cruise control, on the end of the cruise control stalk, I also get the radar function where it slows the car when I get too close to a car in front as well as rapidly slows the car when an object comes in from the side and the radar picks up this object. I don't want this radar function on if I don't select the vehicle-to-vehicle distance button on the R/H steering wheel spoke. Is there a way to have the vehicle-to-vehicle distance not engage when I select the cruise control button to "On" on the cruise control stalk end? In the Owners Manual, on page 223, under "WARNING" the 3rd main bullet states "To avoid inadvertent dynamic radar cruise control activation, switch the dynamic radar cruise control off using the "ON-OFF" button when not in use. 1. Where is this "ON-OFF" button? 2. Will doing this maintain the cruise control function WITHOUT the radar function? TIA  

Cancel Radar Hi Mick, I'd originally posted how to cancel the dynamic radar speed control as it applied to my 2014. As Vet Interested has pointed out, Toyota has changed the system making it a little simpler. A process detailed in nearly a full manual page for 2014 is now a mere bullet point in the 2017 manual. Still, the solution is hiding in plain sight. When you press the end button of the stalk to turn cruise control on, you simply hold that button for a couple of seconds (instead of just punching it on) and the radar cruise will cancel and you'll be sent to standard cruise. That notification will be displayed on the panel between your speedo and tach. This information is on page 220 of your 2017 Avalon owner's manual. The attachment below is a part of that page. Im curious if that's works because I think my '16 Avalon Limited activates by pushing in and holding in the button that turns on the cruise. First the radar cruise comes on, then the regular cruise comes which is verified on the dash. Good luck. (Exactly as explained in the previous post).

I'm working on getting my newly purchased 1999 v6 4x4 back to spec. I love this truck and I want it to last another 10 yrs at the least. I could use some: -help with some of the basics in getting it back to spec. I don't have a lot of tools or experience. -opinions on what makes sense to put money into first. -advice on where to take it for sound work that is beyond the capabilities of ourselves. I have beer and a pretty girl that cooks. I'm in Sacramento right now, but am traveling in Northern California so might could come to where you are. Home wrenchers or shop wrenchers. Let me know if you are nearby and if at the least you'd be down to meet up for a minute and talk shop. We can figure out compensation for any serious help you provide. Thanks.
