JASON DAY COMMITS TO #JDC24

Honoring Our Veterans: Military day discount details

My favorite part about volunteering at the John Deere Classic was having a behind the scenes experience of a PGA TOUR event. I think that this was super valuable as I typically only watch golf events on TV, versus in person.

We are very grateful for the partnership and relationship that we have with the John Deere Classic. They are an incredible asset to the community and they do some incredible work.

It is imperative that we do all we can to support Birdies (for Charity) and everything around it because those 480 charities, they’re doing the heavy lifting in our community. And that’s why Quad City Bank & Trust chooses to sponsor an event like this.

It’s been a family tradition to attend the JDC every year. There’s nothing I love more than watching everyone come in on 18 on Championship Sunday!

My dad and I had a magical experience at the John Deere Classic. We were greeted by hundreds of smiling volunteers, eager to help us in any way they could. We took several photos together around the course, but this is my all time favorite! We love the JDC!

Spending the day at the John Deere year after year with my father. Always a great tournament for a father son outing.

Taking the granddaughters to the John Deere Classic. My son and I loved seeing the the girls faces when they were the watching pro’s play.

We always love sitting at the final hole watching the leaders come in and clinch the victory!

I love going to the classic! I have been going every year ever since I was little. Once I was older, I volunteered to help with parking with my family and then we head out to the classic!

Watching great golf, and seeing friends and family at the JDC!!!

2022 John Deere Classic: How to watch, TV schedule, streaming, tee times

The John Deere Classic begins Thursday, June 30 at TPC Deere Run.

The PGA Tour season rolls on this week with the Johne Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the tournament.

John Deere Classic preview

The Quad Cities plays host to some of the game’s best this week as the John Deere Classic gears up for its 51st edition. Last year, Lucas Glover took home the crown for his fourth Tour title, and he’s back on the field this week looking to become the first back-to-back winner since Steve Stricker won three in a row from 2009 to 2011.

However, Glover is not the favorite at TPC Deere Run. That honor belongs to Webb Simpson, who, at No. 58 in the OWGR, is the highest-ranked player in the field. The 36-year-old is looking for his first win since the summer of 2020, when he won the RBC Heritage.

Golf Channel and CBS will provide TV coverage of the John Deere Classic, while PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ will stream the action online.

PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic set to produce another thrilling finish with young stars contending

Although not a marquee event on the PGA Tour, the John Deere Classic is a tournament where young stars can shine in the spotlight.

PGA Tour, John Deere Classic

The John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour is often overlooked.

Not a lot of household names make it to the Quad Cities on the Illinois-Iowa border, nor do many golf pundits pay attention to it due to its timing on the calendar following the Jul. 4 holiday.

But golf fans should tune in Sunday afternoon as plenty of rising stars are contending at TPC Deere Run.

Of the last 20 champions at the John Deere Classic, eight were first-time winners on the PGA Tour. That includes both Jordan Spieth and Bryson DeChambeau , as the John Deere Classic gave each star ample confidence for years to come.

Perhaps Denny McCarthy, who lost in a playoff to Viktor Hovland at the Memorial Tournament , can taste victory for the first time. He sits one stroke off the lead.

Or maybe Cameron Young comes from behind and claims his first win on the PGA Tour. Young held the 36-hole lead going into Saturday but shot an even-par 71 as he sits at 13-under for the tournament. A double bogey on 18 gave Young a sour taste in his mouth as he walked off the golf course.

He is three strokes behind Brendon Todd, who fired a 5-under 66 to ascend up the leaderboard to 16-under.

PGA Tour, John Deere Classic, Brendon Todd

Todd will enter Sunday’s round as the solo overnight leader, hoping to win his fourth PGA Tour event. He most recently won the Mayakoba Golf Classic in 2019.

He also hopes to play well enough to qualify for The Open Championship.

One perk of the John Deere Classic is that it is a part of the Open Qualifying Series. Here is how it works: the top three players that have not already qualified for The Open at Royal Liverpool will get their tickets punched to golf’s oldest major.

That would mean the world for Todd, who missed last year’s Open at St. Andrews and is not currently in the field. His best finish at The Open came in 2015, also at St. Andrews, where he tied for 12th. But he has only played in three other editions.

Major championships are what professional golfers live for, and playing well in—or winning—any PGA Tour event helps players get there.

Other players hoping to win for the first time on the PGA Tour include Adam Schenk, Alex Smalley, and Peter Kuest, who recently made it in at the Rocket Mortgage Classic via Monday qualifier .

Kuest does not even have membership status on the PGA Tour, so a win at TPC Deere Run would change his life.

Regardless of what happens Sunday, someone will achieve their dream, which is always amazing to see.

Kind of like how Spieth did so in 2013. He forced a playoff with this shot and eventually went on to win as a 19-year-old:

Go out early, post a number and see what happens. That’s what Sepp Straka was undoubtedly thinking as he started the final round of the John Deere Classic four shots back of overnight leader Brendon Todd and teeing off a little more than an hour before his fellow Georgia Bulldog.

And for a while it looked like the 30-year-old was about to post a hell of a number. After 14 holes at TPC Deere Run, Straka had nine birdies and an eagle to get to 11 under on the day and 23 under for the tournament, taking a five-shot lead. A sub-60 score not only seemed possible, but likely, until Straka cooled off with three straight pars then hit his approach on the par-4 18th into the water left of the green. The resulting double-bogey 6 meant Straka would “only” post a 62 and had to see if his 21-under 263 final score would be enough.

As it turned out, it was. Todd got within one of Straka with three holes left, but a bogey on the par-3 16th dropped him back to two and with pars on the final two holes his three-under 68 left him tied for second along with Alex Smalley.

Straka’s second career tour win, to go with his 2022 victory at the Honda Classi, allowed him to claim the $1.332 million first-place prize money payout from an overall purse of $7.4 million in the Quad Cities. Here’s how much each golfer who made the cut at TPC Deere Run with earn this week.

Nelly Korda goes for record sixth straight LPGA win

Rory enters week as most dominant to play quail hollow, 2024 wells fargo championship expert picks, bets, odds, taylor pendrith gets 1st pga tour win at byron nelson after final-hole collapse from ben kohles.

McKINNEY, Texas (AP) Taylor Pendrith tried his best to ignore Ben Kohles’ final-hole meltdown, focusing on the eagle putt that the Canadian thought he might have to make even to force a playoff as he walked toward the 18th green.

Several stunning minutes later, a 3-footer for birdie gave Pendrith his first PGA Tour victory.

Kohles overtook Pendrith with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 for a one-shot lead, then bogeyed the 18th after hitting his second shot into greenside rough. Already in shock following two chips from the rough - the second with his feet in a bunker - Kohles missed a 6-foot putt that would have forced a playoff.

“Wasn’t really trying to pay attention to what they were doing, although it really mattered, obviously,” Pendrith said. “I feel for Ben. He played really, really good today, especially down the stretch. I’ve been on the other side of it a couple times, and it sucks. But it’s golf. It’s a hard game.”

Pendrith shot 4-under 67 for a 23-under 261 total at the TPC Craig Ranch. The 32-year-old won in his 74th career PGA Tour start.

Playing just north of his birthplace of Dallas, Kohles shot 66 to finish a stroke back. The 34-year-old who plays out of North Carolina is winless in 68 starts.

“Honestly, hadn’t seen any rough like that all week,” said Kohles, who moved to North Carolina when he was 10. “Just needed a little bit more umph on it. Did so many good things this week, and I’m just going to keep reminding myself of that and try to get myself back in this position.”

Alex Noren, a Swedish player also seeking a first PGA Tour victory, was another stroke back. He wowed the crowd on the stadium hole at the par-3 17th with a tee shot to 2 1/2 feet, but followed that birdie with a par knowing he probably needed an eagle on 18. Noren shot 65 and was alone in third at 21 under.

Aaron Rai and first-round leader Matt Wallace of England were at 20 under along with the South Korean pair of S.H. Kim and Byeong Hun An. Rai and Kim shot 64, An 65 and Wallace 68.

Pendrith, the third-round leader, and Kohles were separated by just one shot or tied most of the day. After Kohles made a 20-footer to take the lead on 17, Pendrith's par putt rolled all the way around the cup and went in.

“It just curled in, that putt on the last second there, which was unreal just to give me a chance,” said Pendrith, who set it up with a chip from an awkward stance with his heels hanging over the lip of a bunker, after saving par with another testy putt at the par-4 16th.

The victory qualified Pendrith for the PGA Championship in two weeks and next year's Masters. He's also in the next three $20 million signature events, starting next week with the Wells Fargo championship. Kohles and Noren also played their way into Wells Fargo with their Nelson showings.

With Wells Fargo and the PGA coming in the next two weeks, just three of the top 30 in the world ranking were in the field.

Jordan Spieth, the highest at No. 20, missed the cut for just the second time in 12 appearances at his hometown event. Defending champion Jason Day (22nd) and Tom Kim (23rd) didn’t contend, with Day finishing one shot behind Kim at 9 under.

Jake Knapp, the second-round leader who three years ago was working as a security guard in his home state of California, shot 70 to finish at 19 under. Knapp and Wallace were the only players in the top eight with a previous PGA Tour win.

The start of the final round was pushed back 2 1/2 hours because of overnight rain, and pairings turned into threesomes going off both tees with the players allowed to lift, clean and place shots in the fairway.

Wallace appeared to start a charge by chipping in for birdie at 12, the toughest hole of the week, and getting another birdie at the par-4 13th. A three-putt bogey on the par-3 15th stalled him out.

Rafael Campos, a 13-year journeyman from Puerto Rico who has spent most of his career on satellite tours, birdied five of the first six holes starting on the back nine to make the turn at 29.

The 36-year-old cooled off on his second nine before making a 48-foot putt from off the green for eagle on the par-5 ninth for a 63 that put him at 18 under.

Taiga Semikawa, a 23-year-old from Japan playing on a sponsor exemption, also finished at 18 after a 64.

Kris Kim, a 16-year old amateur making his PGA Tour debut, had a rough finish as the youngest to play a final round on tour in 10 years.

Playing his final nine on the front, the son of South Korean-born former LPGA Tour player Ji-Hyun Suh had four bogeys and shot 73 to finish 6 under.

Kim, who is from England, played on a sponsor exemption from the South Korean company and tournament title sponsor CJ Group.
