10 Largest and Longest Travel Trailers for 2024

biggest travel trailer on the market

Sharing is caring!

Do you need lots of space in an RV but don’t want the 5th wheel price tag or the extra work of a 5th wheel hitch? One of these largest and longest travel trailers might be the right pick for you, in 2024.

Whether you have a large family you need to sleep comfortably, live full-time and want a bigger home on wheels, or simply desire room to roam on a weekend camping trip, a long travel trailer could check off many of your boxes.

There are numerous reasons someone would want a longer travel trailer, but what is considered “long” in the RV world?

After touring thousands of trailers, we’ve picked out ten largest and longest camper trailers that boast some of the best amenities and nicest interiors with the maximum space allowed.

These ten longest travel trailers will surely have you considering stretching out in one.

What Is The Longest Travel Trailer Allowed By Law?

The longest travel trailer allowed by law varies by what state you are in.

Each state has its own laws on the maximum allowable travel trailer length, so it’s essential to check these laws before traveling through the state you’d like to visit.

For example, some states have limits on trailers of 40 feet; others have limits of 45 feet.

Within those limits, there are also rules about the combined length of the tow vehicle and travel trailer together. For example, the Texas Department Of Public Safety has a vehicle trailer combined max length of 65 feet.

The rules can be pretty specific and confusing, or some don’t specify.

It’s worth noting that these laws also do not dictate what is considered safe and produced by most manufacturers. You will be hard-pressed to find a travel trailer manufactured over 42 feet, even though some laws state they can be up to 45 feet.

Is A Destination Trailer And A Travel Trailer The Same?

Large destination trailer with tall windows - longest travel trailers

Destination trailers and travel trailers are indeed different types of trailers.

The name of these trailers says it all! One is meant for a destination, and one is intended for travel.

Although the destination trailers have a similar “look” with wheels and most of what travel trailers have, there are specific characteristics that set them apart.

Destination trailers are also commonly referred to as park models. These park models, or destination trailers, are set up for long-term parking in one spot.

Some design details that set them apart are higher ceilings, extended length, and a less aerodynamical design.

These trailers can include residential features such as “real” toilets (RVers know what that means), full-size washers and dryers, and residential refrigerators.

They are still bumper pulls like travel trailers but are much longer and heavier.

Travel trailers are made with traveling in mind by being lighter in weight and easier to maneuver.

KZ Sportsmen Destination 364BH exterior - longest travel trailers

✅ 4 slideouts for maximum space

⛔ No washer/dryer space

  • UVW: 9,400 pounds
  • CCC: 1,060 pounds
  • Hitch Weight: 1,810 pounds

The KZ Sportsmen Destination 364BH is listed as a destination trailer, but it’s designed and built like a travel trailer.

You can see why they’d get them interchanged with this model, though all the amenities make you feel like it’s a destination trailer.

It features a mid-bunk, which is rarely seen in travel trailers. With the mid-bunk taking less space in the trailer, this allows for an excellent open floor plan in the kitchen and living area.

With two couches and an L-shaped kitchen area, you’ll feel like you’re in a home!

What Size Truck Do You Need To Tow These RVs?

The travel trailers above are incredibly long and heavy and require  ¾  or 1-ton trucks to pull them.

The payload and towing capacity of the truck will ultimately determine what can be towed with it, though.

People sometimes assume that any travel trailer can be hauled by a ½ ton truck. This is a common misconception because people assume travel trailers are smaller when compared to other types of RVs.

If you’re having trouble deciding if your truck, or which truck, will pull the long travel trailer you want to purchase, keep in mind two main concerns: weight and length.

Arguably, the most critical factor when deciding what truck you need to pull your travel trailer is the weight. Longer travel trailers can be pretty heavy, especially once loaded down with your personal items.

The second factor is the length. The length can be significant even if the weight stipulations are met for your ½ ton truck.

The longer the travel trailer, the more sway it can have. This can cause a lighter-weight truck to sway more often, which can be dangerous.

Why Are Fifth Wheels Longer Than Travel Trailers?

On average, most 5th wheels are longer than travel trailers. There are always shorter 5th wheels and longer travel trailers, but most of the time, the 5th wheels are larger.

This is because the structural design of the 5th wheels allows them to be made longer safely.

The biggest reason behind this is the hitch and hitch placement. The hitch being in the bed of the tow vehicle allows for enough extra weight to make up for the more extended design.

The hitch of a 5th-wheel trailer also prevents swaying, which could be extremely dangerous for a travel trailer any longer than 42 feet.

Final Thoughts About The Longest Travel Trailers

Not needing or wanting a 5th wheel camper doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice space and luxury with these models we’ve shown you. If anything, they may be more perfect for you.

From bunkhouses to double queen rooms and big king beds, there is a model just right for you, Goldilocks.

Though you have to consider a few extra factors when choosing a longer travel trailer, they aren’t deal breakers.

Check your local laws and the laws of the states you want to travel to, and then check to make sure your truck can haul the model you want. Remember, weight and length together are essential.

After that, you’re set with the parameters you need to start your adventures. Enjoy spreading out in all that space, and don’t forget to swing it a little wider with every extra foot!

Longest RVs: Everything You Should Know

March 31, 2023 by August Croft

Longest RVs

All of our reviews are based on exhaustive research, industry experience, and whenever possible, hands-on testing. When you make a purchase using one of our chosen links we’ll get a small percentage of the proceeds. This supports the site and keeps Jeffsetter running. You can read more here .

No matter the reason, some of the most popular RVs on the market are also some of the longest RVs on the market. Whether you are seeking the maximum amount of square footage possible in a portable home or perhaps you are simply curious about just how large RVs can be, there are a number of long and impressive homes on wheels.

Class A RVs are some of the longest and largest, reaching 45 feet in length. You can also find extremely long travel trailers and fifth wheels, over 45 feet long. The longest RV allowed on the road is usually 45 feet long, some states allow RVs up to 48 feet long, or only 40 feet.

In this article, we will go over just how long some of the longest RVs that are currently available are, as well as which type of RV reigns supreme in terms of its length. Plus, we will discuss whether or not you need any additional licensing to drive an extra-long RV as well as what you can expect when it comes to camping in an RV that is larger than average. Let’s get started!

If you are seeking a particular section of this article, feel free to use our table of contents to navigate to your desired section now. Otherwise, read on to learn everything you need to learn about the longest RVs out there!

When it comes to the nationwide average, many people seem to gravitate toward RVs that are 30 ft in length. However, this is certainly not as long as an RV can get, especially when we look at fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes.

In fact, a school bus that is likely a popular choice for people who are building out their own tiny home or RV averages above 35 ft and typically ranges to 45 ft long. While school bus conversions or schoolies are not the only way to hit the road, some of the longest RVs out there are of a similar length.

But just how long can an RV be before it is either illegal or dangerous to be on the road? Are there any rules or regulations surrounding long RVs when it comes to taking them into state or national parks? Let’s take a closer look at all of these questions now.

What Is The Longest RV Allowed On The Road?

The longest RV allowed on the road varies depending on what state you are traveling through, but the nationwide average in the United States is 45 ft long. Some states allow up to 48 ft long, while others limit RV drivers to only 40 ft. It is unlikely that you will be penalized in these states should you own an RV over 40 ft long, but it is potentially still a risk.

In addition to this, RV lengths are separated by whether or not you are driving a motorhome or a trailer. Many states have separate length limits depending on the type of RV you have, so keep this in mind should you be worried about keeping your trailer under a certain length. For the most part, motorhomes can be slightly longer than trailers, but not in all states.

This is why most Class A motorhome manufacturers maintain a maximum length limit that hovers close to 45 ft. Travel trailers and fifth wheels are also of a similar length, though 40 ft is a more approximate average for the towable rig. However, when it comes to driving an RV of this size, what should you know about licensing and other legalities?

Length And Licenses: Does It Matter?

You technically don’t need a separate license to operate an RV, unless it or over a certain weight or length and has air brakes on board . Given the more complicated operations involved with air brakes and the fact that you are driving something heavy enough to merit air brakes, you will likely need a CDL license to drive a motorhome of this size.

This is also something that varies on a state-by-state basis, with Canada also having its own rules. On average, you shouldn’t need a different license to operate a Class A motorhome so long as it is under 26,000 pounds. However, some states require a commercial license if you are towing or driving an RV that is longer than 40 ft long, and the weight limit is indeed a huge factor as well.

This rule regarding length and weight limits can be frustrating for new RV owners, but it isn’t rare for a Class A motorhome to reach these immense sizes. It’s also something to consider if you are shopping for a new RV and don’t want to fuss with additional licensing. By simply choosing an RV that is slightly smaller, you can avoid this potentially costly RV requirement!

How Long Are Motorhomes While Towing?

Another important factor to keep in mind when considering some of the longest RVs on the market is whether or not you plan on towing an additional car or vehicle behind your motorhome. Again, this is a state-by-state rule and there is no set standard for just how long your motorhome can be while towing, but certain locations are strict about this.

For example, most states do not allow you to triple-tow things, though some are more flexible about this rule. In addition, the nationwide average for how long your motorhome can be while towing appears to be 65 ft long. Some locations don’t allow the overall length of your vehicle to exceed 60 ft, while other locations don’t want you to exceed 70 ft.

While it all depends on where you are traveling, it’s important to always consider your safety while on the road. Let’s discuss just how long some motorhomes are on average while they are towing a separate vehicle behind them and what that might mean for you.

Maximum Combined Length For A Motorhome That’s Towing

As previously mentioned, the maximum combined length for a motorhome that’s towing an additional vehicle behind it averages roughly 65 ft nationwide. Some states allow slightly longer vehicles, while others prefer slightly shorter vehicles. These maximum combined lengths can also include truck and trailer combinations, so keep this in mind.

Many people purchase motorhomes because they are drivable RVs and you don’t have to worry about towing or hitching up any vehicles. However, what these people don’t realize is that they won’t have a vehicle to drive into town once they set up their motorhome at camp. That’s why towing an additional vehicle or even a boat behind your motorhome is a common practice nowadays.

But this common practice isn’t always the safest, especially if the RV owners in question only purchased a motorhome so that they could avoid towing anything. As someone who lives full-time in an RV, I see people who own extremely large Class A motorhomes as well as tow vehicles that they bring along with them.

While there isn’t anything inherently wrong with this, some of these combinations can get extremely long. Safety should be your first priority while on the road, so you may want to consider a slightly smaller RV if you plan on towing anything behind you!

What Is The Longest Class A RV?

Currently, the longest Class A RV is found under the Tiffin Motorhome brand . They currently have three different models that are 45 ft long, including the Phaeton, the Allegro Bus, and the Zephyr. These are all diesel Class A Motorhomes packed with features, including many luxury options.

The Zephyr in particular is Tiffin’s flagship diesel Class A RV . It only has one floor plan, but it is 45 ft long and very nearly 75,000 pounds when it is unloaded. When you add your cargo, passengers, water, and whatever else you plan on bringing with you, this is an extremely heavy and large RV!

The Zephyr comes equipped with air brakes for this reason alone. Given the immense size of this motorhome, it isn’t for the beginning RV owner, even if it happens to boast over 400 square feet of interior living space and plenty of storage.

This is also not an RV for the beginning RVer budget, as it costs $850k on average, without any additional amenities included.

Given that the Zephyr is a flagship model for Tiffin, it has been around for quite some time. Plus, it has been 45 ft long for multiple years, which may mean that this size of an RV is more in demand than we think!

When you check out all of the amenities and luxurious features included, it shouldn’t be a secret why the Zephyr is potentially so popular.

Runner-Ups For Longest Class A RV

Besides the 45 ft long diesel motorhomes found under the Tiffin brand name, Entegra Coach also has a few different Class A options that are an inch under 45 ft long. The Aspire, Anthem, and the Cornerstone in particular all have floorplans that reach 44 feet and 11 inches long!

When you contemplate towing an additional vehicle behind an RV like the Cornerstone, things can get a little intense. There is a 20,000 lb towing capacity available on this Class A RV, but beginning with a 45 ft long RV and then adding an additional vehicle behind may be dangerous if you are unpracticed.

With porcelain floor tiles, large holding tanks, and floor plans to suit just about any lifestyle, Entegra Coach manufactures motorhomes that are certainly worth considering.

However, nearly all of their diesel Class A RVs require an additional license in order to drive them, given their immense size and weight limits. This is definitely something to consider, besides the cost!

Speaking of cost, there is another brand name that ties Tiffin in terms of the longest Class A RV. the Newmar Corporation has multiple luxury diesel motorhomes at 45 ft long, including the King Aire Class A RV. While these are certainly some of the nicest RVs on the market currently, the King Aire is over 1 million dollars !

What Is The Longest Class B RV?

While Airstream is known for its aluminum travel trailers, they also have a few different Class B RVs that they have dubbed as touring coaches. The Interstate 24 GT in particular is almost 25 feet long, which is longer than the average Class B RV for sure!

There are a few different Interstate touring coach models to consider, all of which are under 25 ft, but over 20 ft long. while the floorplans appear to be best suited for travel rather than full-time living, these Class B RVs have plenty of interior space compared to shorter Class B RV models.

If you are considering a motorhome and are too worried about its size, Class B RVs might be a great choice for you. even the motorhomes manufactured by Airstream have a 5,000 lb towing capacity, which gives you the option to bring an additional vehicle along for the ride without stressing just how long your overall length is!

Runner-Ups For Longest Class B RV

Winnebago has a few extremely popular Class B RVs, including the Winnebago Boldt . This camper van is just under 23 ft long, but it still maintains a nimble Mercedes-Benz chassis. It also has a decent towing capacity in case you want to bring along a car or boat behind your van, and the height of this RV gives you a bit more interior living space than you might expect.

This popular RV manufacturer also has a few other camper vans that are just under 23 ft long. The average Class B RV typically hovers around 20 to 21 ft long, so you may appreciate the extra Square footage. No matter the size, Class B RVs are incredibly easy to drive, especially if you get one with all-wheel drive and a raised chassis!

What Is The Longest Class C RV?

Class C RVs can be tricky when it comes to determining the longest option available on the market currently. That’s because there are standard Class C RVs and there are Super C Class C RVs. These Super Cs are typically built on a large truck chassis and are closer to your typical Class A RV than they are to a typical Class C RV.

With this in mind, let’s address the largest Super C RV available on the market currently. Newmar produces a Super C diesel motorhome that is 40 ft long and over $700k: the Supreme Aire . One of the main benefits of owning a Class C RV of this size is the towing capacity, as the Supreme Aire has a 30,000-pound capacity!

However, when you consider towing something with a 40 ft long RV, it gets trickier to drive down the road. plus, a Super C RV of this size has a weight capacity of nearly 60,000 pounds. This means that you will likely need an additional license to drive it, something that the average Class C RV does not require.

Runner-Ups For Longest Class C RV

Now that you have an idea of what a Super C RV is like in terms of its size, let’s take a look at some runner-ups for the longest Class C RVs available on the market today. Ignoring other Super C options that will be of a similar length, some of the largest standard Class C RVs reach lengths of up to 32 ft.

Both Entegra Coach and Thor produce Class C RVs that are just over 32 ft long while still maintaining a standard Class C chassis rather than the Super C Freightliner chassis. This is an important distinction when it comes to horsepower, towing capacity, and even fuel type. While many larger Class C RVs can come equipped with diesel fuel, this is a standard for Super C RVs.

If you find yourself feeling anxious when it comes to purchasing a motorhome, Class C RVs may be the way to go. Not only are there plenty of different sizes to choose from, but these motorhomes are often the perfect size for many different lifestyles. You still have a decent towing capacity so you can bring along a standard vehicle behind your RV.

Plus, even if you are towing a car behind your Class C RV, you won’t be close to the nationwide average length maximum of 65 ft long. This may make a Class C RV a bit more feasible compared to a class A RV that is nearly 50 ft long!

What Is The Longest Travel Trailer?

When it comes to towable RVs, there can be some extremely long travel trailers . Given that travel trailers are the most popular type of RV purchased nationwide given their affordable price point and flexible floor plans, it isn’t all that rare to come across a travel trailer that is over 40 ft long. However, when it comes to the longest travel trailer currently available on the market, SpaceCraft MFG makes custom travel trailers that reach up to 48 ft long!

While there’s no telling how much a custom travel trailer might cost you, SpaceCraft creates most of the largest towable RVs currently available on the market. However, they are not easy to purchase and are indeed custom, which means that they will take some time to manufacture.

When it comes to readily available travel trailers on the market, just how long do some of these RVs get?

Runner-Ups For Longest Travel Trailer

The Jayco Eagle has been amongst some of the largest travel trailers on the market for multiple years. For their 2023 lineup, Jayco still has a floor plan for the Eagle that is just over 40 ft long. While many other RV manufacturers make travel trailers that are close to this number, Jayco still holds the top prize for the largest travel trailer currently being manufactured.

Starting just under $80k and weighing just over 10,000 pounds, the Jayco Eagle is extremely popular and has floor plans to suit a number of different lifestyles and family situations. However, there are other travel trailers available that are large and impressive in size, best suited for families seeking bunkhouse floor plans.

For example, the Keystone Hideout has multiple floor plans that are an inch under 40 ft long, rivaling the Jayco Eagle. Forest River also produces a number of travel trailers that are close to this length as well. However, it is rare to find a travel trailer that is over 41 ft long, unless you opt for something custom-made.

What Is The Longest Fifth Wheel?

SpaceCraft MFG also holds the record for the longest fifth wheel currently available. However, it is also a custom-only option, with no models available unless you are looking for something that is made to order. This company offers a standard fifth wheel as well as a semi-truck fifth wheel model that can reach up to 57 ft long!

Even their standard fifth wheel custom options can be made to 51 ft in length. While this may require an extremely large truck to tow it properly, there are simply no fifth wheels being manufactured that are as large as this.

Given that they are custom, there’s no way to say just how much a fifth wheel of that size might cost, but let’s take a look at some slightly smaller options to get an idea.

Runner-Ups For Longest Fifth Wheel

When it comes to the longest fifth wheels available on the market today, nearly all of the top contenders are fifth-wheel toy haulers rather than standard fifth wheels. This typically means that they have a garage opening on the back of the rig and have other features that support you bringing along your recreational toys such as ATVs, scooters, and kayaks inside.

With this in mind, some of the longest fifth wheels currently being manufactured are manufactured by Grand Design, Keystone, and Jayco. The Grand Design Momentum holds the top spot as the longest fifth wheel toy hauler currently being manufactured, with an overall length of 46 ft and 8 in.

Keystone offers a few different toy hauler fifth wheels that top out at just under 45 ft long. Two notable models are the Raptor and the Fuzion. These toy haulers are over 16,000 pounds, so you’ll need to make sure that you have an adequate tow vehicle before falling in love. finally, the Jayco Pinnacle is just under 45 ft and ranges in weight, but it is over 12,000 pounds standard.

If you are looking for a long fifth wheel without a toy hauler option, these typically average around 40 ft long, similar to travel trailers. However, fifth wheels are typically heavier than travel trailers, but certainly not heavier than Class A motorhomes!

Long RVs And Square Footage

One of the main reasons why you might want to choose amongst some of the longest RVs currently available on the market is because you are looking for the most square footage possible on board.

Depending on the style that you choose, some RV types offer slightly more square footage than others but come in a smaller package in terms of their length.

For example, the average fifth wheel may offer you slightly more square footage compared to the average motorhome. This is because fifth wheels can take advantage of height, particularly the height that is above the cab of your truck as you tow it.

These RVs often utilize this space as a bedroom, living room, or bunkhouse, and offer you a bit more square footage thanks to the unique design of fifth-wheel RVs!

Class B RVs also might be able to offer you a surprising amount of square footage when it comes to their ability to lift their roofs. Many camper vans have pop-top roofs that accommodate an extra sleeping space or additional storage, which may be just enough extra square footage for you to enjoy!

Slide-Outs And Square Footage

Another important factor when it comes to choosing an RV is the number of slide-outs that you have. Slide-outs are an innovation in RV technology, as it allows you to expand your interior living space at the touch of a button. Depending on how many slide-outs you have, you can add a significant amount to your RV, no matter the type you have.

For example, nearly all types of RVs have the option for slide-outs, with some exclusive Class B models even offering a wall that can pop out. Having the option to expand your living space out rather than lengthwise may be a fantastic option for those of you who are hoping for a slightly shorter RV overall.

Long story short, length isn’t everything when it comes to RV living. Choosing a floor plan that works well for your lifestyle is always a good place to begin, even if you know you need plenty of interior living space for you and your family.

While this often does indeed result in a long and heavy RV, there are some slightly smaller options but still big on interior living!

Long RVs And National Parks

Another potential factor to mention when it comes to knowing everything you should know about the longest RVs on the market is what it’s like to drive along RV in a national park. Many national parks don’t allow RVs over a certain length , particularly if you want to camp overnight .

A great deal of all national parks doesn’t allow RVs that are over 40 ft long, with 25 ft long being a safe maximum to consider if you want to camp in these locations. While there are always exceptions to the average, most national parks truly don’t have the space to accommodate rigs of this size.

While this may not be a problem for you, you may want to reconsider a longer rig if visiting our national parks is high up on your list. Because it isn’t just camping that becomes an issue when you have an RV that is over 40 feet long. Some roads can’t accommodate these enormous RVs, both inside and outside a park setting!

Final Thoughts

No matter the reason, many RV customers are interested in owning some of the longest RVs currently available on the market today.

While there are many things to consider, including the potential for an additional license, there’s no denying just how impressive some of these large and in-charge RVs are!

Popular Types of Travel Trailers

Different types of travel trailers make sense for varying needs. For some people, a tiny teardrop camper makes for comfortable camping. Others might require a full-size model with many of the same comforts of home.

Homes on Wheels

Couple cooking at kitchen island in travel trailer

When people picture the absolute nicest travel trailers , they probably imagine the “homes on wheels” concept. These fully equipped models come with bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and — in some cases — home theaters and fireplaces. While these travel trailers can put you in the lap of luxury, they’re often the most expensive options.

Teardrop campers get their name from their distinctive shape. These small, lightweight travel trailers usually have enough space for two people to sleep and a few basic amenities like a small kitchenette, storage space, and maybe even a toilet or shower.

Teardrop campers are popular because of their size, ease of towing, and affordability. They’re great for people who want to camp in remote locations or places where traditional RVs might not fit or be allowed.

Toy Haulers

Toy hauler travel trailer with couple and dog walking

Toy hauler campers are travel trailers that carry recreational “toys” like ATVs, bicycles, and motorcycles. The rear part of the trailer resembles a garage area with a ramp for loading and unloading. Toy haulers, including those that mid-size SUVs can tow, can come in different sizes. Some are fifth wheel models with multiple slide-outs and other amenities, including sleeping areas, kitchenettes, and bathrooms.

The combined living space and garage functions make toy haulers great for outdoor enthusiasts who want to travel to participate in activities like off-roading or motocross. Toy haulers are often heavier than other travel trailers due to the added weight of the garage. Make sure your vehicle can safely tow the trailer and your equipment.

A pop-up travel trailer parked at a grassy campsite with its slide-outs extended

Pop-up campers are travel trailers that are lightweight and easy to tow. They usually feature collapsible walls and roofs that can be raised to provide headroom and living space. A collapsed pop-up camper is much smaller than a traditional travel trailer. This makes them easier to tow and store than other types of popular travel trailers.

Pop-up campers are an excellent fit for budget-conscious campers who want convenience without the expense or weight of larger models. They’re a perfect fit for off-road adventures, too. If there’s a downside, it’s that they don’t provide much insulation or protection from the elements compared to other models.

Pros and Cons of Travel Trailers

Like any camping equipment, owning a travel trailer has pros and cons. Before you buy one of the popular travel trailers on our list, consider the following:

Pros of Travel Trailer Ownership

  • Lots of space: Travel trailers can offer lots of living space. This makes them an excellent choice for families or friend groups who want to travel together.
  • Great amenities: The best travel trailers typically have features like full-size beds, kitchenettes with sinks and stove top burners, microwaves, refrigerators, A/C and heating systems, and slide-outs that can expand the living area.
  • Flexibility for traveling: Unlike motorhomes, you can unhitch your travel trailer from the tow vehicle once you reach your destination. This lets you explore the surrounding area without taking the whole camp along for the ride.
  • Affordability: Compared to drivable motorhomes, travel trailers tend to be more affordable in both purchase price and maintenance costs.

Cons of Travel Trailer Ownership

  • Towing challenges: A travel trailer requires the right tow vehicle with enough power to pull the weight. Inexperienced drivers may find maneuvering on the road or backing up into tight spaces challenging. For more information on determining if your vehicle will work, check out our tow guide .
  • Storage space: Larger travel trailers require a lot of space. In most cases, HOA or municipal regulations prohibit storing them on your property. That means finding and paying for a permanent storage location.
  • Maintenance costs: Travel trailer maintenance costs can add up quickly, like any vehicle or home on wheels.

Frequently Asked Questions About Travel Trailers

Before we wrap up, let’s address some common questions about travel trailers:

What is the most reliable brand of travel trailers?

While all the travel trailers on our list are great options, reading reviews and talking to people who know the products well is important. Jayco, Thor, Coleman, and Winnebago have spent decades building their reputation for quality travel trailers.

Is it worth it to own a travel trailer?

Whether or not you view the travel trailer as a good investment depends on your unique situation. Every family is different. If you want to explore the great outdoors regularly but not at the expense of home comforts, a travel trailer can offer the right balance of amenities and flexibility.

Travel trailers do require maintenance and a suitable vehicle to tow them around. If you don’t like the idea of dealing with a trailer, other RV options—including Class C RVs and camper vans—may be a better fit.

What is the average lifespan of a travel trailer?

Travel trailer lifespans depend on many factors, mainly usage, maintenance, and storage conditions. You can enjoy your travel trailer anywhere from 10 to 20 years with proper care and maintenance. If you don’t maintain it or frequently expose it to harsh weather or neglect, it can severely limit your use time.

How much should I spend on a travel trailer?

How much you spend on a travel trailer depends on what you think is essential. You can find used, lower-end models for under $10,000. Larger travel trailers with luxury amenities can cost upwards of $100,000. Consider your budget and what features are essential, and don’t forget to factor in storage fees.

If you’re curious about the affordability of a travel trailer or payment plans, ask about RV financing .

How should I choose  the ideal travel trailer?

It can be difficult to pick the best travel trailer because there are so many things to take into account and so many options. The best travel trailer for you can be found, though, if you take the time to think about your needs and preferences and reduce the number of options you have.

  • Identify your spending limit: You should identify your spending limit before looking at travel trailers. This will enable you to focus your search and prevent you from falling in love with a trailer that is too expensive for you.
  • Think about your towing vehicle: Your vehicle’s ability to tow is another crucial factor to take into account. It’s crucial to pick a travel trailer that can be towed by your towing vehicle because not all travel trailers can.
  • Select the size and layout: Travel trailers are available in a range of sizes and configurations, so it’s important to select the ones that best meet your needs. Think about the number of passengers you’ll be taking and the kinds of activities you’ll be engaging in.
  • Consider features and amenities: Considering the features and amenities you want is one of the most critical steps in selecting a travel trailer. Basic amenities are available in some travel trailers, while high-end features like full kitchens, bathrooms, and entertainment systems are available in others.
  • Think about the weight: The travel trailer’s weight is an essential consideration. Check the weight of the travel trailer and make sure it doesn’t exceed the weight limit of your towing vehicle.
  • Examine the warranty and customer support: Before making a purchase, look into the manufacturer’s warranty and customer support. By doing this, you’ll feel more at ease and know that you have someone to turn to in case something goes wrong.
  • Take the travel trailer for a test drive before buying it, if at all possible. You’ll get a sense of how it handles and how comfortable it is from doing this.

Overall, deciding on the best travel trailer is a subjective choice based on your unique requirements and preferences. You can find the ideal travel trailer for you and your family’s upcoming excursion by taking your budget, towing vehicle, size and layout, features and amenities, weight, warranty and customer service, and taking a test drive into consideration.

Is it important how many rooms a travel trailer has for living?

When choosing the ideal travel trailer for you, the number of living areas may be something to take into account. Having multiple living spaces can give different activities or family members more privacy and separation. For families with kids, having a separate bedroom or bunkhouse can be a great feature. It can also give you more options for hosting parties or entertaining visitors if you have multiple living spaces.

On the other hand, a travel trailer may be more portable and manageable if it has fewer living areas. For single travelers or couples who don’t require a lot of space, this can be a good option.

In the end, it depends on the needs and preferences that are unique to you. A travel trailer with several living areas might be the best option if you have a big family or frequently host guests. However, a travel trailer with fewer living spaces might be a better fit if you’re searching for a more streamlined and compact option.

The 15 Best Travel Trailers for 2024

Traveling doesn’t mean having to step foot in a frenzied airport. In fact, there’s never been a better time to go camping. With the right travel trailer, you can easily leave the city behind without having to deal with anyone other than your nearest and dearest. Today’s featured-packed caravans are nothing like those you rode in as a kid, either. Not only do they look good, but they’re packed with enough luxury features that you’ll feel right at home, no matter where you are.

We’re also at the point where there’s a trailer for practically every kind of camper, regardless of what vehicle they drive. If you’re the kind of person who likes the classics, there are multiple aluminum-sided Airstream and Bowlus models to choose from. Want to bring as much of your home on the road with you? How about Living Vehicle or Land Ark’s mammoth condos on wheels? There are also caravans you can take off-road with your 4×4 and ultra-light and compact models you can tow with an EV. Some can even be turned into a mobile office if you want to mix work and play. Below are 15 travel trailers that will allow you to take to the road in just about any way you can imagine.

A rear 3/4 view of the Living Vehicle HD24

If you want a better understanding of how far travel trailers have come over the decades, just look at the Living Vehicle lineup. The Santa Barbara-based company’s boxy trailers are basically mini apartments you can take with you on the road. Our favorite might be the new HD24, which is far from the company’s biggest offering, but comes with all the amenities you could need at the campground—and then some.

The all-electric model, which starts at $299,995, may measure only 24 feet, but its minimalist interior still has more than enough for a bedroom, kitchen, entertainment area, and a bathroom with a dedicated shower. One particularly clutch feature is a five-by-eight-foot multi-purpose space that can be used as an office, guest room, or laundry room. If that wasn’t enough, the top-of-the-line Pro variant has a solar-assisted power system that can keep the trailer running for up to a month off the grid.

The Bowlus Endless Highways Performance Edition from the side

It may not be the most famous shiny caravan maker—that would be Airstream—but Bowlus is the company that gave us the first riveted travel trailer. The company, which was revived in 2014, knows not to mess with a good thing, so its well-regarded trailers—like our favorite, the  Endless Highways Performance Edition —look just like those it produced in the 1930s, only bigger and with better materials (think: alclad aluminum for the exterior and birchwood for the interior).

Despite its classic look, the $225,000 trailer has all the conveniences you expect in 2022, including heat and air-conditioning systems, a WiFi modem and plenty of outlets for charging all your smart devices. Best of all, though, might be a lithium iron phosphate that gives you the ability to live off the grid for two peaceful weeks. If you’re an animal lover, there’s also the  Terra Firma , which features a bunch of Fido-friendly features like a built-in food bowl, pet bed and remote temperature control system.

A front 3/4 view of the Mammoth Overland Extinction Level Event

Mammoth Overland’s latest model is a burly off-road trailer designed to withstand anything it encounters in nature. The appropriately named Extinction Level Event (ELE) rides on a set of chunky all-terrain tires and has an angular aluminum body reinforced with steel armor and skid plates. If that doesn’t sound like enough, you can upgrade to Level 3 bullet-proof armor. There’s also a built-in bear spray system too, for added security. The ELE, which starts at $67,000, is pretty compact since it’s a tear-drop trailer, but it can comfortably sleep two and has an integrated workstation inside its cabin. There’s also a swing-out kitchenette in the back for cooking.

Best Overall: Airstream Globetrotter

Airstream Globetrotter

One brand leaps to mind when most of us think about travel trailers—Airstream. Its iconic aluminum-sided caravans have been instrumental in popularizing road trips and  camping  in the US for decades. One need only look at the company’s  Globetrotter  model to see why: In addition to looking beautiful, the silver-covered caravan is packed with creature comforts to keep you traveling comfortably. It’s not the brand’s largest model—that would be the flagship  Classic —but it’s available with one of six different floor plans, each of which has room for a spacious entertainment area (that can sleep up to four adults).

Inside you’ll find a full-featured kitchen, half-bathroom, shower and sizable bedroom with either a queen-sized bed or two twins. As you would expect from Airstream, the amenities are top-rate, too, like Franke faucets in the kitchen and bathroom, stainless steel appliances, Quietstream climate control system and multiple LG LED TVs. The Globetrotter starts at $120,000. If it doesn’t fit the bill, the brand has plenty of other models to choose from, including collaboration editions like the  extra-homey Pottery Barn Edition  or their  ultra-rare Supreme edition .

Airstream Globetrotter

Special Features: —There are different floor plans to choose from, each of which features a full kitchen, half bathroom and dedicated shower. —The Quietstream climate control system barely makes a peep, even when the heater or A/C is running. —A built-in canopy provides shade when you want to spend time outside.

The W2 Romotow T8

Good things come to those who wait. More than a decade after it was first announced, the Romotow T8 is finally available to order. The 30.5-foot caravan, which was designed by New Zealand-based architecture and design firm W2, has two main components—a fixed chassis and a smaller living space that fits just inside of it. When the $268,500 trailer is parked, the cabin slides out at the touch of a button and can be rotated 90 degrees like a swiveling USB stick. When rotated like this, the hydraulic-powered chassis can then be used as a patio. While this unique design may be the vehicle’s main selling point, its interior cabin comes with all the features you need and has enough room for six adults.

Special Features:   —Unique rotating design is unlike anything else currently on the trailer market. —The living area is large enough to sleep up to six adults. — Hydraulic patio comes with an integrated deck set.

Escapod Topo2

The  Escapod Topo2  is a trailer for anyone looking to take their camping trip off road with minimal fuss. The brand’s update of the classic teardrop trailer is an off-road-friendly model without any of the bulk. Unlike most of the trailers on this list, Escapod’s bedroom and kitchen area are separated from one another. The dedicated sleeping area has room for a queen-size mattress and is equipped with a stargazer window so you can really take in the peace and quiet of the great outdoors. The galley, meanwhile, is only accessible from outside the $39,500 trailer, but has ample counter space for meal prep and cooking. Both sections get their power from a VPR 4EVER lithium ion battery with some solar panels to help keep things running smoothly and efficiently.

Special Features: —Exterior is made from a single-piece of composite fiberglass that is rugged and weather-resistant. —Laser-cut tube steel frame should last for years. —Bedroom’s stargazer window offers up a beautiful view of your surroundings.

The Retreat Caravan and OzXcorp's ERV Electric Camper

It was only a matter of time until the  electric revolution  made its way to the world of trailers and campers.  Retreat Caravan and OzXcorp’s ERV  is a rugged trailer that also happens to run entirely on battery power. Roof-mounted solar panels provide juice for a 14.3-kWh lithium battery that keeps the trailer’s many appliances running. And while the trailer is perfectly equipped for some off-road fun, thanks to a specially tuned suspension and all-terrain tires, it also packs all of the comforts of a luxe hotel room inside, including a bathroom, spacious seating area and master bedroom suite with a king-sized bed and closets. But the true highlight may be the $75,000 caravan’s full-size kitchen, which features an induction cooktop, fridge and washing machine. There’s also a Weber electric barbecue and slow cooker for making your meals outdoors.

Special Features: —Solar panels and 14.3-kWh battery power the trailer and let you go off grid. —A specially tuned suspension and large all-terrain tires let you go off-road. —The primary bedroom has enough room for a king-size bed and its own closets.

Eriba Touring 820

Are you looking for an aluminum-sided trailer that looks like more than just another Airstream or Bowlus’s rip-off? If so, the  Eriba Touring 820  might fit the bill. The company’s top-of-the-line caravan updates the classic silver bullet look with a retro-futuristic shape and details. Even more impressive, though, is the 27-foot-trailer’s interior. The company has packed it full of luxury amenities like a sizable, leather-covered lounge area (that can be converted into a bed), customizable mood lighting and a surprisingly fashionable bathroom. The true highlight, though, is a bedroom with a large panoramic window that offers up a gorgeous views of your surroundings. That’s good, too, since you might not actually want to leave the $88,500 trailer.

The Land Ark Drake

Almost more of a portable house than a trailer, the  Land Ark Drake  basically lets you take all the comforts of home on the road. The gigantic, yet stylish, two-level, 357-square-feet trailer can comfortably sleep seven adults. Stark and modern on the outside, the trailer features an equally clean white-washed pine and black metal decorated interior. Across its two floors, it has room for a full-sized kitchen, living room and bathroom (which includes a bathtub), along with two loft bedrooms and an office which can also be converted to a sleeping area. Its $139,000 starting price may sound a lot for a trailer, but for a two-story house on wheels it’s not that bad.

A front 3/4 view of the Pebble Flow

There are plenty of EV-friendly travel trailers on the market at this point, but none are nicer to an electric powertrain than the Pebble Flow, which starts at $109,000. The futuristic vehicle is available with an optional propulsion that includes two electric motors—one situated on each wheel—to help make sure its 6,200-pound weight isn’t eating up all your battery-powered vehicle’s range. That’s far from the Flow’s only forward-thinking feature though. The trailer also comes with an “Instacamp” system that can be used to park the vehicle and set up camp (which includes leveling out the vehicle, deploying its staircase, and turning on the lights). The unique feature can also be triggered remotely via Pebble’s smartphone app.

Colorado Teardrops Boulder travel trailer

There are EV-friendly trailers and then there’s  Colorado Teardrops’s Boulder . Not only is the company’s latest designed to be towed by a battery-powered SUV or truck, it can also charge your EV’s battery. That ability comes courtesy a 75-kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a built-in DC fast charger that will give you some much needed peace of mind out on the open road. At the very least, it gives you the freedom to come up with a route centered around sights instead of charging stations. Aside from this very vital feature, the compact caravan has everything two adults and two children need to live off the grid for a for a few days, including a comfortable queen-sized mattress, two bunk beds (for the kids), an enclosed kitchenette and an optional climate control system. The $55,000 trailer also comes in a variety of two-tone color schemes that all look pretty sharp.

Special Features: —Doesn’t just ease the burden on your EV’s battery; it can charge it, too. —A unique bunk-bed design creates room for four people to sleep (two adults and two children). —The enclosed kitchenette has plenty of counter space.

Hunter Nature Raptor XC

A big trailer can be a godsend on the campground, especially if you’re traveling with family or friends. The problem, of course, is getting the hulking vehicle there. No matter how experienced the driver, maneuvering a large caravan can be very tricky. Luckily there are trailers like  Hunter Nature’s Raptor XC . The brand’s angular model looks compact but features a pull-out section that just about doubles the size of its interior. When it’s fully extended you’ll have more than enough room for a dedicated living area, kitchen and bedroom. This will come in handy if there’s more than two in your traveling party, too. That’s because the $44,000 trailer’s entertainment area can easily be converted into an additional sleeping area at night.

Best for Design Obsessives: X-Cabin300

The X-Cabin300 travel trailer

Silver trailers don’t all need to be bullet-shaped as nice as the classic Airstream may look. Just take a gander at the X-Cabin300. The all-aluminum vehicle has a boxy shape that looks both classic and modern. The Japanese-made caravan is compact, but comes with four different interior layouts designed to meet your varied needs (it can even be used as a food truck). The $50,000 trailer is smaller than most—it measures just seven feet tall, seven feet wide, and 15 feet long—and only tips the scales at 1,650 pounds, which means a compact SUV can even tow it.

The exterior of the Taxa Mantis

It can be hard to find a trailer that fits everyone’s needs, but the  Taxa Mantis  comes close. Its no-nonsense design means it fits with nearly anyone’s style. Thanks to a pop-up roof section, ingenious use of space and plenty of storage compartments, the Mantis has all the room you and your friends and family need to camp in comfort, which can be crucial on longer trips. It’s also got all the necessary features, including a bathroom with a built-in shower, water heater, kitchenette and 8,000 BTU air conditioner. The trailer, which starts at $46,000, is ideal for off-roading, but there’s a  special Overland edition  if you want something even more rugged.

The exterior of the Happier Camper HC1

Imagine if you didn’t need a truck or SUV to tow your trailer. You don’t if the caravan in question is Happier Camper’s compact  HC1 . The Los Angeles-based outfit’s smallest model is as light as they come, with a dry weight of just 1,100 pounds, meaning it can be towed by practically any car, even a modern-day Mini Cooper. It features a semi-modular interior designed by Adaptiv that can be customized to fit your camping style—components snap in like Legos—with either a full kitchen or enough sleeping room for up to five people. You can even add solar panels if you want to go off the grid. The $34,450 trailer’s old-school design is also sure to stand out on practically any campground. Even better, no pickups needed.

Travel trailers. Camper trailers. Bumper pull campers. Towable trailer campers. They are known by a bunch of different names and come in just as many designs.

Today we are going to have an in-depth look at all the best travel trailer options on the market in 2022 . From big names like Jayco, Airstream, and Starcraft to some of the lesser-known brands that have captured the market’s attention in the last year – I have scoured the depths of the internet and traveled to more than my fair share of expo’s to bring you the most up to date info.

But, why choose a travel trailer over an RV?

Jayco 26rk 2021 white hawk, winnebago micro minnie 2108tb, heartland pioneer 250bh, airstream flying cloud, gulf stream ameri-lite 259bh, transcend xplor, oliver legacy elite, lance 2445 travel trailer, forest river no boundaries, the wrap up.

There are a few key reasons why someone might choose a travel trailer over a motorhome or RV.

For starters, the upfront price will be a lot lower for a travel trailer than an RV.  The smaller motor homes currently available on the market will set you back about $50,000 while travel trailers of a similar size are around $20,000 to $30,000 (although you can 100% pay double, triple, or even quadruple this depending on what you are looking for)

Travel trailers are also much cheaper to insure and maintain, and in general, are thought of as the better choice for casual campers who take shorter and less frequent trips.

Jayco Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 1

The walls of the trailer are built  using a process called “Stronghold VBL.” . This process ensures laminations are not only light but extremely strong, and increases the walls tactile strength.

Winnebago Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 6

Just like Hoover is to vacuum cleaners, or Kleenex is to tissues – Winnebago is a name synonymous with campers of all types, and for good reason.

Founded in 1958 in Forest City Iowa, the company survived a rough beginning and almost closed its doors after just 2 short years. Luckily, the hard times passed and the company survived, going on to produce its first camper in 1966.

These days they boast one of the most comprehensive camper trailer ranges, with 6 base travel trailer models and more than 30 floor plans to choose from.

I’m going to focus on the Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108TB  variation, as I feel it offers a great balance of room and features for a very competitive price! It boasts a seven-foot wide base with 10 optional floor plans (all of which can be viewed here –  https://www.winnebago.com/models/product/towables/travel-trailer/micro-minnie?floorplans=true )

To be totally honest, I was shocked to see the low RVInsider average review score of 2.6. After spending the weekend away in it I would have assumed it would have scored much higher, but there it is.

This travel trailer has so many fantastic features packed into both the exterior and interior design. Innovative is an understatement!

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 10

In terms of the exterior, first up we have the “MEGA Bright Pass-Thru Storage”. This is an unrivaled storage system with 52 cubic feet of storage at your fingertips paired with oversized access doors for ease of use, LED lights on either side, and internal finishing to help protect your cargo.

The inbuilt power stabilizing jacks do a great job of quickly leveling and stabilizing the whole travel trailer and are controlled by a single button push. There is also a handy outdoor cooking station with a full grill and space to hook up your TV and exterior speaker.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 11

The interior certainly is no slouch either. “H Blast AC” allows for unmatched cooling performance with up to double the amount of air conditioning ducts of rival models offering the most efficient air circulation possible. Heartland opted to go for no carpet interior, with ful linoleum on the main floor and slide outs to help with ease of cleaning.  The oversized panoramic Windows allow for almost floor to ceiling views and max ventilation.

Then we have the kitchen, and geez what a kitchen it is. An almost full size fridge is paired with a triple burner, a mid-sized oven, and a double basin sink!

In terms of build quality, some of the highlights are 5/8” Dyna Span floor decking, 80” interior roof height, 110 Volt 45 Amp power converter, aluminum front exterior metal and sides, fully walkable roof, an aerodynamic front profile, inbuilt water system winterization kit, the list goes on…

Airstream Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 14

Airstream travel trailers are probably the most iconic campers on the market, and definitely the most easily recognisable. The gorgeous aerodynamic aluminum exterior cladding instantly turns heads and is just so aesthetically pleasing . I personally find some strange satisfaction watching one cruise by, and I am sure I’m not the only one.

It’s not just the exteriors that scream luxury. The interior design of each and every Airstream that I have had the pleasure of setting foot in is just as impressive as the shell. Thoughtfully and carefully crafted to last a lifetime, with all the fittings you expect from a high end travel trailer and then some.

SInce 1931, Airstream has been producing some of the absolute best camper trailers on the market. They are not the most expensive options out there, but airstreams certainly do not come cheap.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 15

WIth 8 options in their current travel trailer line there is an option to suit any sized family,  but if you are asking for my favorite it’s hard to pass up the Airstream Flying Cloud. This is one of the highest rated travel trailers on RVinsider.com with an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5, so let’s jump in and see why everyone seems to love this unit!

There are more than 10 floor plans to choose from, but the one i got the chance to look at is the Flying Cloud 25RB

  • Price: Starting at $89,900
  • Length:  25 ft 11 in
  • Height : 9 ft 9 in
  • Weight Rating: 7,300 lbs
  • Number Of Double Size Beds: 0
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 39 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 31 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 34 Gallons
  • BTU per hour furnace: 25000
  • Propane Unit: 2 x 30 lbs
  • Oven: Convection Microwave Oven
  • Refrigerator Power Mode: Electric 12V
  • Refrigerator Size: 8 cu. ft.
  • RVInsider average reviews: 4.7

The Airstream Flying Cloud 25RB comes with a very generously sized rear bedroom space with a full sized queen bed, a nightstand, a large LED TV,  and a wardrobe. The memory foam mattress that comes with the camper is surprisingly comfortable, and to be honest I think it’s nicer than my mattress at home…

The 42″ x 97″ dinette/bed is just so well designed and also super comfy. During the day the area is a perfect work or dining area, and once the sun goes down it converts into a sleeping area for up to 4 adults, although it’s actually better suited to no more than 3 in my opinion.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 17

The kitchen area has everything you need to cater to a large family, with a decently sized fridge, a 3 burner cooktop, and a large convection microwave oven. There is also Quietstream Climate Control which does a fantastic job of both heating and cooling the cabin,  Ultraleather® Seating featured throughout the trailer , and just an overall smart use of the entire space! The whole interior is super tastefully finished, exactly what we have all come to expect from Airstream.

I don’t think I need to say too much about the exterior, as I think the majority of us know (and love) every Airstream. What I will say is that the build quality is second to none and will last decades with the appropriate care and maintenance. Overall, one of my favorite travel trailers that I have ever stepped foot in. grab all the details on all of Airstream’s travel trailers right here –  https://www.airstream.com/travel-trailers/

Gulfstream Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 19

Are Gulfstream travel trailers as easy on the eye as our previously reviewed unit, the Airstream Flying Cloud? Well, no. But  Gulfstream travel trailers do have a long list of pros, starting at the price.  These budget-friendly campers offer a whole lot for less than half the asking price of an Airstream and do so without cutting corners or holding back on build quality.

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. is based in Nappanee, Indiana with factories dotted all around the state. It’s actually the biggest privately held recreational vehicle manufacturer in the USA, with over 25 brands and more than 110 models in their extensive range.

I’m going to focus on one of their best-selling units, the Ameri-Lite. This is a great starter option for small to medium sized looking to buy their first travel trailer. There’s a 13,500 BTU roof air conditioner, 16,000 BTU furnace, multiple USB ports in handy easy-to-reach areas,  durable wipe-down vinyl flooring for quick cleaning, 2 rear stabilizing jacks, solid wood framed walls studs, fiberglass insulation, a crowned and seamless rubber roof which comes with a ridiculous 12-year warranty, and handcrafted hardwood cabinets with deep vinyl-lined drawers.

The galley features all basic necessities plus some fun extras.  The flush mount fridge is decently sized with enough room to store at least a few days’ worth of fresh produce for a whole family. The 3 burner cooktop is well designed, and the addition of a microwave and a standard convection oven is always great to see. The power hood does a great job of sucking out any unwanted steam or smoke from cooking and the 6-gallon water heater ensures there’s always enough hot water on tap

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 23

The bathroom has an actual tub in it!  Sure, it’s not the biggest tube we have ever seen, but it’s just so rare to see this in a camper and can be a godsend for those with a young family. Of course, all the other usual suspects are also found here – toilet, sink, and a powerful shower.

The exterior shell is well put together and designed to last. The materials used are top-notch and should last years and years with the right care.  Check out all the options available from Gulfstream right here –  https://www.gulfstreamcoach.com/products/light-weight

Grand Design Travel Trailers 3410

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 24

Grand Design Recreational Vehicles are one of the newer kids on the block.  In 2012 the Grand Design team broke away from the leadership team of the largest travel trailer and fifth wheel manufacturer in the world to start their own venture.

This decision was made as they were finding it hard to stay in touch with customers, employees, and ultimately keep the quality of the final product to the very highest standard while being involved with such a large company.

Since opening their doors back in 2012 they have seen unparalleled years of growth, and have quickly become one of the most respected travel trailer manufacturers in North America.

Their best-selling travel trailer model right now is the 2022 Transcend XPLOR, and I was lucky enough to check out the 200MK model recently. To say I was impressed would be a slight understatement.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 26

  • Price: Starting at $34,535
  • Length:  24 ft 11 in
  • Height : 11 ft
  • Weight Rating:  7495 lbs
  • Sleeping Capacity: Sleeps up to 8
  • Number Of Queen Size Beds: 1
  • Number Of Double Size Beds: 0
  • Number Of Convertible / Sofa Beds: 2
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 62 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 39 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 39 Gallons
  • BTU per hour furnace: 32000
  • Refrigerator Size: Mid-sized
  • RVInsider average reviews: 3.7

The well-priced Grand Design Transcend Xplor travel trailer 200MK is up there with my favorite campers and trailers currently on the market.  Sure, it may not have the classy exterior of some of its higher-priced competitors, but that’s not to say this is a bad-looking trailer whatsoever.

The exterior shell is designed with functionality in mind and uses state-of-the-art build concepts to ensure long-lasting quality. Steel alloy frame construction is paired with the aircraft-grade aluminum cladding for a great balance of strength while staying as lightweight as possible. Grand designs use QuadSeal on the vast majority of their travel trailers, which provides four protective layers to line the perimeter of your trailer for full protection from water the weather has in store.

Inside you find pretty much everything you could hope for from a travel trailer in this price range, plus a few great unexpected extras!  The galley offers a full 3 burner cooktop, convection oven, microwave oven, and a nicely sized 8 cu ft refrigerator. This setup makes cooking for a large family an absolute breeze.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 28

In terms of cabin space, that really depends on which floor plan you decide on, with over a dozen options available. The 200MK can sleep up to 8 people, but that would be a bit of a squeeze. There’s a queen bed in the main bedroom, with a few pull-out bunks for the kids. The bathroom is well designed with a full walk-in shower, with a big sink and toilet. There are a bunch of overhead compartments dotted throughout the design and a 43 Cu. Ft. pass-through storage located underneath the cabin flooring.  Check out all the Grand Design Travel Trailer options right here –  https://www.granddesignrv.com/

Oliver Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 29

Oliver travel trailers may not have the extensive range of other brands, and as they have been in business since 2008 they are one of the younger companies on today’s list.  With just 2 travel trailers to choose from you would be excused for thinking that this great little enterprise is not worth your time, but in my opinion, you would be 100% wrong.

Oliver travel trailers may have a starting price that is a little higher than some of the competition, but this price is more than justified when you take into account the build quality and features included.

Let’s take a look at the smaller of the two options, the Oliver Legacy Elite.

  • Price: Starting at $57,000
  • Length: 18 ft 5 in
  • Height : 6 ft 6 in
  • Weight Rating:  5,000 lbs.
  • Sleeping Capacity: Sleeps up to 3
  • Number Of Convertible / Sofa Beds:1
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 32 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 32 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 15 Gallons
  • BTU per hour furnace: 20000
  • Number Of Cooktop Burners: 2
  • Oven: Convection Microwave Oven
  • Refrigerator Size: 4.5-cubic-foot Norcold three-way refrigerator
  • Structure Warranty (Months): 60

As you can see from the above specs, this is one of the smaller travel trailers reviewed in this list. From what I can tell, there are 2 types of people that RV – those who prefer the “bigger is better” model and the rest who prescribe to the “cozy and small” philosophy. If you land in the second group then the Oliver Legacy Elite is hard to beat!

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 30

The aesthetics are the first obvious point that sets this travel trailer apart from the opposition.  The bubble, retro styling of the Legacy Elite makes this one of the best-looking options available right now and gives Oliver units a unique feel.

In terms of construction, the mostly aluminum frame is covered by a custom-molded fiberglass shell complete with matching propane and spare tire cover. Not only does this look great, but it offers a stronger shell than others that can handle all weather conditions, even below freezing. That’s thanks to the well-insulated double shell and the fact that all water lines, appliances, and tanks are located within the lower shell.

When discussing the interior features, there is really nothing glaring that Oliver have left out here. To see all the standard features head to this link  https://olivertraveltrailers.com/travel-trailers/legacy-elite/standard-features/ , but here’s a quick rundown.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 33

There’s full surround over-head lighted storage compartments, an ez winterizing system, the Maxxfan deluxe remote control RV ventilator system, overhead led lights and led courtesy floor lights, a flush mount 2x lp burner stove , a Norcold 3 way refrigerator 4.7 cu. ft. that can run on lp or electricity, a stainless steel microwave, a domestic 311 toilet (low profile with porcelain bowl), decently sized shower, all the safety features we have come to expect, a 24” flat screen LCD tv.  The list really does go on and on! If you have some money to burn and are looking for a compact travel trailer that offers the best in build quality and overall features then it’s hard to beat the Oliver Legacy Elite! Bowlus Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 34

And now for something a little, um… different?

Bowlus travel trailers are the brainchild of Hawley Bowlus and first started production in 1934. Hawley Bowlus was a renowned designer, aerospace engineer, and the head designer and builder of the Spirit of St. Louis aircraft (the custom-built monoplane that was famously flown by Charles Lindbergh in 1927, on the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight from Long Island, New York, to Paris, France).

Bowlus campers are known for their absolute high-end, luxury designs and timeless aesthetics.

Bowlus aims to lead the market and have accomplished many important industry firsts within the last decade. These include being the first travel trailers with heated floors and life-work solutions that include the first charging stations/router/wifi amplifier for remote work solutions, the first lithium-powered travel trailer with sophisticated power management systems, and the first truly sustainable RV.

But this does not come cheap! Bowlus campers are some of the most expensive options out there, so let’s take a look at exactly why they cost as much as they do! I was invited to take a look at the Bowlus Terra Firma, their flagship model.  This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most beautiful and outwardly impressive travel trailer I have ever stepped inside of!

  • Price: Starting at $265,000
  • Length:  27 ft 1 in
  • Height: 8 ft 6 in
  • Weight Rating:  4000 lbs
  • Bathroom: Full bathroom with shower (extends outside), toilet, and sink.
  • Sleeping Capacity: Sleeps up to 4
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 19 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 21 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 4.5 Gallons
  • Propane Unit: 2 x 17 lbs
  • Number Of Cook Top Burners: 2
  • RVInsider average reviews: 0 reviews

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 35

Let’s just say it, the Bowlus Terra Firma is not for everyone. I love the thing and it’s not for me, and that’s not just to do with the price  (which, come on, is totally ridiculous. Over $100,000 more expensive than the closest competing model from Airstream. You can even get a Lambo or Ferrari for less than the asking price of this camper!).

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 36

But, if this is the type of thing you are into and you have the money to burn, it does have a whole load of attractive features and design concepts.  Each and every Bowlus is handcrafted with the company taking input from the new owners to make sure they get the travel trailer perfectly tailored to their wants and needs .

The one feature that Bowlus can truly claim as their own is the lithium-iron batteries that provide 8.0-kWh of power. That’s enough juice to keep the water flowing and LED lights on for weeks, but if you are using the climate controls and running workstations then that time period will shrink to about 4 days. Still super impressive.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 37

I’m not going to say much about the interior and exterior design and build quality. As you would expect from a unit of this price, every facet is the unreserved, undivided, outright pure definition of top-notch brilliance.

But, should you buy a Bowlus Terra Firma?  Well, that is an answer that no one can answer other than you. But my honest opinion is that even though they are packed with outstanding features and almost perfect styling, they are just too overpriced to warrant a purchase.

Lance Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 38

Lance Campers have been supplying America (and the world) with some of the best travel trailers since 1965.  They have slowly but surely built a strong reputation for designing and constructing some of the longest-lasting units on the market, and  a quick google search will find endless glowing reviews about the whole range of campers offered.

In the last decade, Lance campers have won an amazing 8 quality circle awards from the DSI Award (Dealer Satisfaction Index), and just last year Consumers Digest awarded the entire Lance travel trailer line their highest ranking possible.

My local Lance dealer recently invited me around to check out the range. There is a travel trailer to suit any family requirement, each as impressive as the last. But, the pick of the bunch in my mind is the fantastic Lance 2445 travel trailer. Of course, they have many cheaper options available (Lance is actually one of the companies with the most attractive overall pricing), but if you are looking for a large camper trailer then check out this one!

  • Price: Starting at $79,765
  • Height: 10 ft 4 in
  • Weight Rating:  7600 lbs
  • Number Of Double Size Beds: 1
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 45 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 2×45 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 45 Gallons
  • BTU per hour furnace: 35000
  • Propane Unit: 2 x 10 lbs
  • Number Of Cook Top Burners: 3
  • Structure Warranty (Months): 24
  • RVInsider average reviews: 3.9

This oversized travel trailer is perfect for larger families, with enough room to sleep 4 adults and 4 children comfortably.  The master suite features a walk-in- closet and full queen size pillow top innerspring mattress which is positioned to view the surroundings through the “StarGazer” dual-pane radius front window.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 39

The bathroom is outfitted to perfection, with every fitting you would expect from a hotel powder room and more! The shower is as big as I have seen in almost any camper, and there’s ducted heat, a medicine cabinet with a generously sized mirror, and a full-sized toilet and sink combo to round it all out.

The galley comes with everything you need to cater for a large family, with a flush mount 3 burner oven top, a convection oven, a microwave, a 7 cu. Ft. double door fridge, and an oversized sink.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 42

The overall build quality is a factor that Lance Campers have always received praise for and it’s no different here!  Everything just seems so well put together, especially as Lance targets the lower price range. There’s the laminated fiberglass bonded exterior with azdel substrate, exterior LCD mounting puck which includes a removable LCD bracket, aluminum wheels with Goodyear radial tires and the radius cornered storage compartment doors to name just a few of the standout features.

So, if you have been hunting for a travel trailer that offers unrivaled value for money you can do a lot worse than a Lance Camper! Check out the entire range right here –  https://www.lancecamper.com/travel-trailers/

Forest River Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 43

Forest River has been around the traps since 1996 and with the recent introduction of the phenomenal No Boundaries travel trailer they have upped their game once again.

The company has manufacturing facilities throughout the Midwest and west coast, allowing for orders to be filled quickly without the quality of workmanship dipping at all. Each and every Forest River product is painstakingly built and undergoes deep, detailed inspection before being handed over to the customer. This pre-delivery inspection covers everything from electrical, plumbing, LP system, function, aesthetics, codes, rain bay, and other various tests.

One thing that really stands out is the Forest River Owners’ Group (FROG), which was formed in 2011 and has grown exponentially ever since. It now boasts over 150,000 members, and has a thriving forum for any and all discussion regarding Forest River products.

Let’s dive headfirst into the all-new Forest River No Boundaries and see what the fuss is about.  I was able to get my hands on an NB19.6 floor plan, but there are more than 12 other options to choose from depending on your needs and budget.

  • Price: Starting at $32,000
  • Length:  24.33 ft
  • Height:9.92 ft
  • Weight Rating:  3,206 lbs
  • Number Of Double Size Beds:
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 30 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 30 Gallons
  • Oven: Microwave Convection Oven

The No Boundaries is a unit that really does live up to its name. Packed to the brim with impressive features, priced to please, and top-class build quality that is lightweight and durable  – what else could you want or need from a travel trailer?

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 44

The standard features that come with every No Boundaries include more than a handful of components that you might not expect to find in a travel trailer for this price. There’s enough storage room for a family of four, plus space for kayaks , bikes, surfboards, and fishing equipment. It seems like everywhere you look there’s more storage room!

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 45

Then we have the roof-mounted solar panel, the complete LED lighting, the included bush (or outdoor) kitchen that has a great-sized flat-top grill, the inbuilt winterization package, plus much more!

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 46

The kitchen employs the use of a 2 burner oven top, a convection microwave oven, and a full-sized fridge and sink combo. The fridge could be a little larger I guess, but it’s hard to knock them for such a small oversight.

This is the perfect Travel Trailer for those wanting a lightweight, capable, and long-lasting camper. It handles off-road situations surprisingly well,  thanks to the 4,400-pound torsion-axle independent suspension. I wouldn’t take it down a difficult 4WD path, but it is capable of handling a bit of rough treatment.

So, if its a rugged and ready travel trailer that you are dreaming of, then take a long hard look at the impressive Forest River No Boundaries Travel Trailer right now –  https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/travel-trailers/no-boundaries/NB19.6/4763

Well, there you have it. My comprehensive rundown of all the top camper trailer brands, and the best units each produces. Hopefully, by this point, you have a much clearer understanding of not only what is on the market right now, but also exactly what you are looking for in a travel trailer!

If you want to know my picks of the bunch then it is hard to pass up the Lance Camper range.  They offer a unique blend of value for money and great build quality, all backed by a pretty decent warranty.

Of course, if you have the spare cash laying around then check out all the units that Airstream has to offer.

Happy Camping!

biggest travel trailer on the market

With so many brands, sizes, and amenities to choose from, it can be difficult to know which travel trailer is right for your next adventure in the great outdoors . Paige Bouma, executive vice president of sales and operations of Trader Interactive, knows a thing or two about RV travel. She has been taking RV vacations with her family for years, often traveling for 30 weekends a year. According to Bouma, towable RVs (like travel trailers) are great for camping , and there are a number of choices to consider. "Families looking to experience the great outdoors have several choices when it comes to trailers they can tow behind their car, SUV, or pickup," she said. "The traditional travel trailer comes in a variety of lengths and weights, and provides a multitude of amenities and a sleeping capacity for any size family to go camping."

With this in mind, we've rounded up 13 of the best travel trailers so you can plan your next road trip . Whether you're a first-timer looking for tips to get started or a frequent traveler trying to decide on your next RV rental , this list includes fan favorites like Airstream, Winnebago, and Jayco travel trailers, ranging from luxury vehicles to small and lightweight campers.

What are the 10 Best Travel Trailer Brands and Models?

Published on May 23rd, 2022 by Ray & Tammy Roman This post was updated on October 5th, 2023

One of the most frequent questions we get from new and experienced RV enthusiasts alike is: What are the best travel trailer brands to consider buying? This is a crucial consideration because your travel trailer is more than just a vehicle—it’s your home on wheels. Let’s explore some brands that consistently receive high marks for quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

Discovering the Best Travel Trailer Brands in 2023: A Guide for Every RVer

Deciding on “the best brand” of anything is subjective. The answer is as unique as you are. Discovering it largely depends on your specific RV travel needs, budget, family size, and personal preferences. he answer also depends on finding the  best truck for your camper .

Over the years my picks for the best travel trailers tends to remain unchanged. Many new brands are on the market, but they have not been around long enough to properly assess their quality. Each of the best travel trailer brands in our list has developed a unique approach to comfort, efficiency, and style.

The Gold Standard: How Do You Choose the Best Travel Trailer Brands of 2023?

What distinguishes the elite from the average in the world of travel trailers? After analyzing feedback from RV enthusiasts and combing through industry reviews, we have identified three things to keep in mind as you shop for your ultimate travel trailer brand.

1. Road-Tested Reliability

When it comes to RVs, it’s not a question of if you’ll encounter issues, but when. With that in mind, the reliability of a travel trailer should be your most critical consideration. The most trusted travel trailer brands inspire confidence based on sterling reviews. That feedback isn’t just from RV industry cheerleaders, but from the real experts – everyday RV owners like you and me.

Don’t fall for the shiny objects shown in walk-through YouTube reviews. Instead, dig deeper and seek out firsthand experiences from actual owners. Start with RV communities such as the iRV2 Discussion Forums . This is one of many excellent ways to get unbiased ratings and insights from owners of the brands you are curious about. Start engaging in discussions about the real-world performance and reliability of the camper you’re interested in.

2. Value for Your Money

Price matters, but not always in the way you might think. While we all love a bargain, when it comes to travel trailers that a lower sticker price can often be a sign of mass production that leads to compromised quality. As with any purchase, affordability is important, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of quality. The best travel trailer brands offer the highest value for the price point with above-average durability, thoughtful design, and overall quality.

3. Customer-First Service

The best travel trailers in the world can’t make up for a poor customer service experience. When investing in a travel trailer, you’re not just buying an RV. You are entering into a relationship. The industry’s top-tier travel trailer brands on our list understand this and prioritize customer satisfaction. From the initial contact with the manufacturer to after-sales support from the dealer and any warranty work in the future, they make it a prioirty to keep customers happy.

Not all travel trailer brands or their affiliated dealers shine in this area. Explore Google reviews about your local RV dealers that carry the brand you are considering. An overwhelming amount of negative customer feedback may be a telltale sign to look elsewhere.

The Top 10 Best Travel Trailer Brands List

Choosing the best RV trailer brands isn’t easy. There are hundreds of trailer brands and thousands of models. I selected these brands and models based on hundreds of RV user reviews. The following list of camper brands is known for their commitment to quality and value. They are also known for providing excellent customer service and timely warranty repairs. Here are the manufacturers that make our cut.

Now let’s review these brands and their best models to consider buying for your next travel trailer purchase. Remember, take your time to research, visit dealerships, attend RV shows, and even rent different models. This will give you a feel for what suits you best. The adventure of RVing begins even before you hit the road. It starts right here with the exciting process of choosing your home on wheels from among the best travel trailer brands in 2023.

#2. grand design rv imagine.

Grand Design RV is another one of the best travel trailer brands. They have a loyal and raving fan base that considers their travel trailers some better overall brands in the industry.

Happy Grand Design Travel Trailer owners (Image: @AKA…Neil, iRV2 Forums member)

I have seen many owner reviews of Grand Design campers who rave about the quality of these units and the outstanding customer service. For me, a list of the best travel trailer brands would not be complete without Grand Design.

The company is located in Middlebury, IN. All their towables and fifth wheels come with a 3-year limited structural warranty. Imagine XLS is one of my favorites due to its excellent styling, features, and amenities. Grand Design has only been around since 2001 and today it operates as an independent business within Winnebago Industries. This line of campers is definitely on our short list of the best travel trailer brands in 2023.

Why I Recommend the Grand Design Imagine

The Imagine travel trailer line is my preferred bumper-pull from this RV manufacturer. There are several reasons I like the Imagine trailer. First off, it comes in 21 different floor plans. Even the smallest model comes with a queen-sized bed. There is no way I would want a travel trailer with anything smaller than a queen bed.

Grand Design Imagine Specifications

11 different floor plans in 3 lines, length: from 19 ft 11-inches to 36-feet 11-inches, one-piece roof membrane with 12-year warranty, arctic 4-seasons package, aluminum framed fully laminated sidewalls, uvw: 3,560 lbs to 8,394 lbs, gel-coated fiberglass exterior, double-insulated floor, roof, and front cap, heated and enclosed dump valves, factory installed rv solar power system.

The Imagine is also loaded with a ton of standard features. Here are just a few of the ones that stand out for me and for what I’m looking for:

Solid hardwood drawer fronts

Upgraded residential furniture, large double door refrigerator, large panoramic windows, residential quality countertops, 3-burner range with oven.

The Oliver brand makes high-quality luxury fiberglass trailers in their Tennessee manufacturing facility. The company, which was started by twin brothers Jim and John Oliver, was formed in 2008.

Imagine a travel trailer built like a fortress, designed to withstand whatever Mother Nature might throw at it. That’s what Oliver offers – each trailer is constructed with a double-hull fiberglass shell. This gives superior protection against all weather conditions. It’s not inexpensive, but is a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality and durability.

The company gets that we’re all different and have our own ideas about what makes the perfect RV. That’s why they offer a wide range of customization options. Whether it’s a specific floor layout, an advanced solar power system, or leather upholstery, Oliver makes it happen. It’s like getting a tailor-made suit, but this one’s an RV made to fit your camping style and needs.

The Oliver Legacy Elite 2

Inside the Legacy Elite 2 (Image: Oliver Travel Trailers)

The Oliver Legacy Elite 2 pictured above is my favorite model and probably one of their top-rated all-fiberglass campers. I like the Elite 2 for several reasons. I like that it has a dry weight of just 4,600 pounds. It can be towed with a good truck or full-size SUV. Keep in mind that 4,600 pounds is just the dry weight. For towing, you need to consider cargo weight too.

The Legacy Elite 2 comes in two-floor plans. One with twin beds and the with a dinette to 75″ x 79″ bed conversion. This model is loaded with standard features.

Oliver Legacy Elite 2 Specifications

Full custom molded interior and exterior insulated shells, plumbing, holding tanks, and drain pipes are enclosed between shells with heat to diminish the risk of freezing, quad shocks on dual dexter leaf spring axles, “nev-r-adjust” electric brakes for exceptional control and braking, molded vanity, norcold 3-way refrigerator 4.5 cubic ft. (12v, 11ov, lp), 15′ dometic awning, 22″ flat screen lcd tv, custom mounted speakers (4).

Oliver Travel Trailers are worth the money if you are shopping for a new RV. Their unique blend of luxury, superior construction, thoughtful design, customizability, and top-tier customer service, makes these fiberglass trailers a trustworthy companion on your road adventures.

#4. winnebago industries – micro minnie.

Another of our selected best travel trailers is Winnebago. With a history spanning over 50 years, Winnebago is a well-known and respected brand in the RV industry. Headquartered in Forest River, Iowa, the company builds a huge selection of RVs, including high-quality motorhomes, campers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers.

Winnebago Micro Minnie (Image: Winnebago)

Winnebago makes five popular travel trailer models as of 2023. One of the best travel trailer brands for new RVers and experienced ones alike is the Micro Minnie (which replaced the older Minnie Drop model that made our former list of the best travel trailers.

What I Like About the Micro Minnie

When it comes to striking a balance between compactness and living comfort, the Micro Minnie travel trailers hit the nail right on the head. These little marvels of RV engineering manage to pack a ton of amenities into a small, easy-to-tow package, proving that you don’t have to go big to enjoy the perks of home on the road.

Despite their size, Micro Minnies don’t skimp on the essentials. Step inside to enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen that comes with a double-door refrigerator, a three-burner stove, and even a microwave. So, whether you’re warming up last night’s leftovers or cooking a full-course meal, you’ve got everything you need right there.

A key aspect of Micro Minnies’ appeal is their towability. With a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 5,500 to 6,000 pounds, depending on the model, they can be comfortably towed by a variety of vehicles. Mid-size SUVs, pickup trucks, and some of the beefier crossovers make suitable companions for these compact travel trailers.

#5. happier camper hc1.

If you’re looking for an ultralight travel trailer that brings a smile to your face and makes RVing a breeze, Happier Camper travel trailers are it. These compact and retro lightweight travel trailers are winning the hearts of people who want a small trailer that can be towed by a typical passenger car.

Happier Camper HC1 travel trailer (Image: Happier Camper)

Happier Camper trailers are incredibly versatile. Their “Adaptiv” furniture anf cabinetry are made as modular cubes. Each trailer’s retro-inspired design pays homage to the iconic campers of the past while incorporating modern amenities. With their vibrant colors, rounded shapes, and nostalgic appeal, Happier Camper trailers turn heads wherever they go. From the sturdy fiberglass shell to the energy-efficient appliances, every aspect of a Happier Camper trailer is thoughtfully designed for your comfort and convenience.

A notable Happier Camper HC1 feature is the expansive rear hatch that lets you easily load up a couple of bikes; even a kayak if water sports are your favorite outdoor activity. This is an awesome feature for such a small camper.

Happier Camper HC1 Specifications

100% double-hull insulation fiberglass, length: 10′ (shell), 13.5′ with hitch, width: 6′ 11″, exterior height: 7′ 4″, inside height: 6′ 1″, dry weight: 1,100 lbs., gvwr: 3,500 lbs., adaptive modules are all 20″ x 20″ and of varying height, rear hatch door:  54.5” w x 53.5” h.

One thing to keep in mind with the Happier Camper is that it does not have a typical toilet setup. The Happier Camper has a “ Dry Flush” toilet for RVs . That is the only drawback I see to this camper trailer. Remember, it is small, so don’t expect much room, but that is how it’s been designed. It’s modern, and makes exceptional use of the small interior.

#6. starcraft rv autumn ridge.

Another of our picks with a long history in the RV industry, Starcraft, started making metal farm equipment in 1903. In 1968 they began manufacturing campers. Today, what sets Starcraft apart from other small, affordable trailers is its smart construction. Made with TuffShell, Starcraft’s unique fiberglass wall construction, all Starcraft trailers give superior durability while remaining lightweight. This combination not only extends the lifespan of the RV but also makes towing a breeze, whether you tow with a full-size pickup or a mid-size SUV.

After dinner, you can relax in the comfortable seating area, perhaps catch a show on the LED TV.

What Makes The Autumn Ridge a Best Travel Trailer?

Prior to the Autumn Ridge, the 2019 Starcraft Mossy Oak travel trailer was my preferred choice. This was a spacious camper available in 11-floor plans, including several travel trailer models with bunk beds . The Mossy Oak came in lengths from 23’4″ to 36’5″, making it the best predecessor of the Starcraft Autumn Ridge. This new model has many choices for RV buyers, with features that will make you want to own one too.

What I Like About The Lance Camper 1685

Of the 12 models of travel trailers Lance Campers makes in 2023, I like the 1685 model est. There are several reasons. The 1685 is one of their lightest travel trailer models, featuring a dry weight of just 4,690 pounds. The interior is roomy and has lots of storage space available, and the floor plan is intelligently designed and laid out for maximum space efficiency. #8. shasta rv 18fq.

A division of Forest River, Shasta travel trailers have been a reliable companion for road travelers since 1941. If you’ve been camping a long time, the toaster-like look of the original Shaster brings back memories. What I love about Shasta trailers is they’re a great buy for the money.

Shasta trailers offer a wide range of towing capacities. Because these campers are crafted with a sturdy, lightweight aluminum exterior, they are durable but don’t add extra weight. Whether you already own a large truck for towing, or a family SUV, these campers are a great choice for anyone just starting their RV journey. Experienced RVers looking for an upgrade also find them a great fit.

Why You Should Consider the Shasta 18FQ

Over the years, Shasta has trimmed their travel trailer line to just the Shasta model, which is available as a typical pull-behind and a travel trailer tow hauler. The pull-behind is available in a whopping 14 different floor plans. Of all those plans, my favorite is the 18FQ.

The 18FQ is very well laid out. Stepping inside, you can’t help but appreciate the attention to detail. Kitchens come equipped with a three-burner cooktop, a generous refrigerator, and a microwave oven, giving you all the conveniences of a home kitchen on the road. The 18FQ includes a 60″ x 74″ bed mattress with overhead storage space above and a clothes wardrobe on either side. It has a dry bath with a separate toilet and shower, medicine cabinet and a linen closet.

Consider Renting An RV Through Outdoorsy Or A Dealership Before Buying

If you are new to the world of RV travel and RV shopping, then you really want to take your time finding the best brand which is right for you.

Attending trade shows and spending a slow Saturday touring the local RV dealerships, is a great way to familiarize yourself with your options and the accessories that you want to prioritize.

There are some RV dealership who will let you rent a unit ,  or perhaps even take  “Last Years Model”  for a weekend test run. Rental companies sometimes offer RV’s as part of their available fleet as well.

Yet, these options tend to cost a little more. If you really want to take your time, and perhaps take more than one or two models for the proverbial “Spin” you might want to look into sites like Outdoorsy and RVshare .

These are user-to-user interfaces that allow potential renters to connect with private owners.

Many times, the owners will allow you to rent one of their relatively new units for a price that could be half of what a dealership or rental company offers.

This makes Outdoorsy and RV share a great place to get your feet wet, without having to first make a major investment or having a pushy salesperson standing over your shoulder.

They may stay in cabins, yurts, treehouses, or other unique structures, and enjoy activities such as spa treatments, gourmet meals, or guided tours. They usually camp for a short period of time, and want to relax and indulge themselves.
  • Survivalists: These campers challenge themselves to survive in the wilderness with minimal or no equipment. They may use primitive skills such as fire-making, hunting, fishing, or foraging to obtain their food, water, and shelter. They usually camp alone or in small groups, and want to test their limits and learn new skills.

Where do you plan on using your camper?

Depending on your preferences and needs, you may choose to use your camper for:

  • Short trips to nearby parks, lakes, or mountains
  • Long journeys across the country or continent
  • Off-road adventures in remote or rugged areas
  • Full-time living or working on the road

Where do you plan on using your RV?

One of the first questions you need to ask yourself before buying an RV is where you plan on using it. Different types of RVs are suited for different terrains, climates and facilities.

For example, if you want to camp in remote areas, you might need a four-wheel drive RV with solar panels and a large water tank. If you prefer to stay in RV parks with hookups, you might opt for a larger RV with more amenities and comfort. Knowing where you want to go will help you narrow your options and find the best RV for your needs.

What is the top class C RV?

A class C RV is a type of motorhome with a cab-over design, meaning a sleeping or storage area is above the driver’s seat. Class C RVs are usually built on a truck or van chassis and can accommodate up to 10 people.

The best class C RV depends on your preferences, budget, and travel needs. Some factors you may want to consider are the RV’s size, layout, amenities, fuel efficiency, and reliability. Some popular brands of class C RVs are Winnebago, Thor, Coachmen, and Forest River.

What is your budget for a camper?

Your budget will determine your camper’s size, features, and quality. Many factors affect the price of a camper, such as the brand, model, condition, age, and location. You can find campers for as low as $5,000 or as high as $100,000 or more.

You should also consider the costs of maintenance, insurance, registration, and fuel when setting your budget. A camper is a big investment, so you should research and compare different options before deciding.

The Element Palazzo

This RV is a unique animal. The Palazzo does not have traditional styling. Instead, it’s a lot more sculpted, similar to future-modern architecture. The vehicle is likened to a two-story mansion. The driving duties are accomplished from the second floor. Above that, there is a rooftop terrace and sky lounge. The RV also has a cocktail bar, master bedroom suite, heated flooring, and an outdoor grilling station, and it is 45 feet long. 10 units are expected to be sold yearly.

Will Smith’s custom-made RV

When not in use, it can be rented out for $9,000 weekly.

Powerhouse Coach

The last on the list of the largest-ever RVs is the Powerhouse Coach. It is custom-made and spans 122 feet long. It is so long that it is broken into two separate RV cabins. One is towed by the other. Although it does not have many of the luxury finishes, its size alone is enough to surprise.

Each of these RVs reaches easily reaches hundreds of thousands of dollars to the millions of dollars. Their size is impressive. Their luxury touches are impressive. Overall, the ability of these behemoths to bring the best of travel to your door is amazing. Indeed, they are amongst the largest made, but the best to go glamping too.

As a bonus, the features are packaged in a small camper footprint. In most cases, you won’t need to purchase a tow vehicle for these trailers. To find out how much weight your car can pull, open your vehicle’s manual. Look for the maximum trailer towing capacity and you’ll find the answer.

Why lightweight travel trailers are in demand

If you’re thinking about buying one of these lightweight travel trailers, you’re in good company. Demand for big and small RV models is soaring.

For example, according to the latest issue of RV RoadSigns , the quarterly sales forecast published by the RV Industry Association (RVIA), RV manufacturers are still scrambling to meet consumer demand that started in 2020. This year, more than 600,000 new RVs will be sold. These figures are all-time high that will exceed the record-breaking RV sales of 2021.

“The remarkable production from the RV manufacturers and suppliers is nothing like we have ever seen before, and our new forecast shows the record-breaking streak will continue,” said RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby.

Editor’s note: RV manufacturer materials costs are constantly increasing. The current base costs for the small, light travel trailers on our list may have changed since the time of this writing (Q4 2021).

The 7 Longest 5th-Wheel Campers You Can Buy!

Longest 5th Wheel Camper

5th wheels are some of the longest and biggest RVs on the road today, rivaled in size only by large luxury Class A RVs and large travel trailer park models .

As large 5th-wheel campers can easily be over 40 feet long , and that’s just the length of the camper.

Because while there is some overlap between the truck and fifth wheel, the tow vehicle on a 5th wheel will usually add another 15 feet to the RV setup.

Meaning that the largest 5th wheel setups can have a total truck and trailer length of up to 60 feet!

Making the total length almost as long as a semi-truck, which typically has a total length of around 70 feet.

If you’re curious how long the largest 5th wheel campers are though, make sure to keep reading.

Because in the rest of this blog post, we’ll be discussing the seven longest 5th-wheel campers you can buy!

Longest 5th Wheel Camper:  New Horizons 48 FT Majestic

Quick specs.

  • Base Price : $293,278
  • Length : 48 Feet
  • Trim Levels/Floorplans : M48IK4S, M48RL6S, M48RLMP5S
  • Dry Weight : 24,060 – 25,060 Pounds
  • Hitch Weight : 3,897 – 5,580 Pounds
  • Slide-Outs : 4 – 6
  • Sleeping Capacity : 4 – 6

The longest custom 5th-wheel camper by far is the New Horizons 48 FT Majestic, which as the name implies has a total length of 48 feet.

Making this absolutely massive 5th wheel more than two feet longer than the second-longest 5th wheel on the market today.

Unlike the rest of the longest 5th wheels on this list though, New Horizons doesn’t just make one model and trim level that’s the longest.

As New Horizons actually make three different trim levels of the 48 FT Majestic, including the M48IK4S, the M48RL6S, and the M48RLMP5S.

Plus, three toy hauler versions of the fifth wheel, including the M48CKT4S, the M48TY3S, and the M48TY4S.

To see other large luxury 5th wheels, check out our blog post “ Top 10 Luxury 5th Wheel Toy Haulers (With Pricing) “.

New Horizons 48 FT Majestic M48RLMP5S Floorplan

New Horizons 48 FT Majestic M48RLMP5S Floorplan

Regardless of which 48-foot trim level or floorplan you go with though, you can rest assured that you will own the absolutely biggest and badest 5th wheel on the road .

As the 48 FT Majestic is not only the longest and largest 5th wheel you can buy but also one of the most luxurious and well-equipped.

As the New Horizons 48 FT Majestic offers what seems like an endless amount of premium and high-end features.

Both on the exterior of the camper as well as on the interior.

Starting on the exterior, which features a custom-built chassis, a PVC roof, a hydraulic leveling system, hydraulic slide mechanisms, and full-body paint.

And finishing on the interior, which offers custom all-wood cabinetry, a premium electrical system, high-end appliances, and some of the nicest finishes you’ll find in an RV.

New Horizons 48 FT Majestic Interior

All this size and premium features don’t come cheap though, as the fully customizable 48 FT Majestic has a starting price of just under $300,000.

Making it one of the most expensive 5th wheels you can buy .

For those with the means though, who are unwilling to compromise on size or features, the New Horizons 48 FT Majestic is definitely worth considering.

For more information on the New Horizons Majestic, and to see all its available trim levels, check out their website by clicking here .

2nd Longest 5th Wheel Camper:  Dutchmen RV Yukon 421FL

  • Average Price : $80,000
  • Length : 45 Feet 8 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 15,150 Pounds
  • Hitch Weight : 3,171 Pounds
  • Slide-Outs : 5
  • Sleeping Capacity : 6

The Dutchmen RV Yukon 421FL is the second longest 5th-wheel camper overall .

However , it actually holds the first designation for several subclasses of the longest fifth wheel, including the longest production 5th wheel and the longest front living room fifth wheel .

As the Yukon 421FL offers a front living room layout instead of the more common front bedroom layout.

Providing several unique benefits to this extra-large fifth wheel.

Including a more prominent well-rounded entertainment/living area, easier access to the kitchen area, and a more spacious primary bedroom and bathroom.

And speaking of the primary bed/bath you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more spacious and well-equipped option.

As the rear bedroom and mid-bath take up the entire back half of the fifth wheel, which allows for class-leading interior space as well as features.

Where this camper really shines though is in its main living/entertaining areas.

As the Yukon 421FL features a fully-equipped mid kitchen with a center island, residential-level stainless steel appliances, solid surface countertops, and a free-standing kitchen table with seating for four.

Dutchmen RV Yukon 421FL Floorplan

Dutchmen RV Yukon 421FL Floorplan

As well as a huge front living room with dual opposing slide-outs, comfortable seating for up to six, dual opposing convertible sleeper sofas, and theatre seating.

Which is positioned directly across from a massive entrainment center that spans the entire front wall of the camper and features, tons of cabinets, a huge TV, and a built-in fireplace.

The thing you might have noticed even more than the front living room though is the average cost of this 5th wheel.

Dutchmen RV Yukon 421FL Front Living Room

As the Dutchmen RV Yukon 421FL has an average price of $80,000, making it almost $220,000 cheaper compared to the above longest 5th-wheel camper.

Which might at first have you scratching your head.

As the two fifth wheels have similar lengths and seem to offer a lot of the same features and amenities.

The reason for the huge price disparity though is due to the fact that one is a production fifth wheel, while the other is a fully custom fifth wheel.

As the Yukon 421FL is a production-level fifth wheel, while the above Majestic M48RLMP5S is a fully custom 5th wheel.

Meaning that it’s built and designed to the specification of each buyer.

Which allows for a lot more personalization and customization but also increases cost exponentially.

I will say though, even for a large production 5th wheel, the Yukon 421FL is exceptionally affordable .

As most large luxury production 5th wheels will usually cost anywhere from $120,000 to $150,000, as you’ll see later in this blog post.

Starting with the fifth wheel’s construction, as the Elite 44FL offers three-inch super composite welded aluminum cage walls, a heavy-duty powder-coated forged steel chassis, three-inch thick floors, welded roof trusses, and a seamless SuperFlex membrane roofing material with a 15-year warranty.

Allowing you to camp or live in this RV year-round no matter how hot or cold it gets outside.

The premium features don’t stop there though on this high-end luxury 5th wheel, as the Elite 44FL also has a super luxurious interior as well.

As you might expect from a 5th wheel that costs over a quarter million dollars.

Luxe Elite 44FL Kitchen

Starting with its spacious floorplan and layout, which offers six slideouts, a front living room, a huge mid-kitchen with a center island, one and a half bathrooms, a washer/dryer closet, and a private rear suite with a ceiling fan and private bathroom.

4th Longest 5th Wheel Camper:  CrossRoads RV Redwood RW4150RD

  • Average Price : $145,000
  • Length : 44 Feet 10 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 15,824 Pounds
  • Hitch Weight : 2,934 Pounds

The Redwood is CrossRoad’s luxury fifth-wheel lineup.

And the longest Redwood they sell, which also happens to be the 4th longest 5th wheel is the CrossRoads RV Redwood RW4150RD, which has a tip-to-tip length of 44 feet 10 inches and a dry weight of 15,824 pounds,.

Putting this fifth wheel into the 1-ton truck category.

Meaning as is the case with all 5th wheels on this list that you’ll need a 1-ton truck to safely tow the camper, such as a Ford F-350, Chevrolet 3500, or RAM 3500.

Due to the camper’s extremely heavy weight, which can top out as high as 18,832 pounds, if the fifth wheel is fully loaded up to its gross vehicle weight rating.

CrossRoads RV Redwood RW4150RD Floorplan

CrossRoads RV Redwood RW4150RD Floorplan

Moving beyond its massive size and heavy weight though, this 5th wheel offers a great combination of luxury features and affordability .

Making the camper perfect for those who don’t want to break the bank, but still want a full-time, top-of-the-line 5th wheel.

Because while there is nothing cheap about the Redwood RW4150RD, which has an average price of $145,000, it seems like a downright bargain when compared to the New Horizons 48 FT Majestic M48RLMP5S or the Luxe Elite 44FL from above.

Despite its more affordable price though, the CrossRoads Redwood RW4150RD still offers many of the same premium features that are typically only found on those types of ultra-luxury custom 5th wheels .

CrossRoads RV Redwood RW4150RD Kitchen

Including optional full-body paint, frameless dual-pane windows, front and rear insulated fiberglass caps, fully finished heated pass-through basement storage, dual power awnings, and insulated slam latch baggage doors.

As well as seven-foot slide room height, a central vacuum, an iN-Command global automation system, LED recessed ceiling lighting, accent lighting, and residential-level furniture and appliances.

Plus like other high-end luxury 5th wheels, the RW4150RD offers a full suite of cold-weather features.

Including such features as an enclosed underbelly, enclosed and heated water lines, holding tank heating pads, seamless residential insulated heating ducts, and an energy efficient 35,000 BTU furnace.

Allowing the camper to be used year-round.

Making it ideal for full-time RVers that need an RV that can handle all seasons and weather conditions.

5th Longest 5th Wheel Camper:  Jayco Pinnacle 38FLGS

  • Average Price : $120,000
  • Length : 44 Feet 5 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 14,835 Pounds
  • Hitch Weight : 2,805 Pounds
  • Slide-Outs : 4

At 44 feet 5 inches long, the Jayco Pinnacle 38FLGS is the 5th longest 5th wheel on the market and one of the longest production 5th wheels you can buy.

Built to be the ultimate in comfort and design, as the name implies, the wide-body Pinnacle 38FLGS offers class-leading features, amenities, and space throughout .

Beginning with its rear bathroom, which in my opinion is one of the nicest and largest bathrooms available in a 5th wheel.

Even if you’re comparing the bathroom to custom 5th wheel bathrooms that can cost twice as much as the Pinnacle 38FLGS.

Jayco Pinnacle 38FLGS Floorplan

Jayco Pinnacle 38FLGS Floorplan

As the owner’s suite bathroom offers a huge L-shaped vanity with tons of counter space and dual sinks, a large walk-in shower, lots of floor space, and even a large closet that’s prepped for a washer/dryer.

And as if that wasn’t enough, like many large 5th wheels, the Jayco Pinnacle 38FLGS actually offers a second bathroom.

As the floorplan features a mid-half bath next to the kitchen with a toilet and sink.

Allowing those in the main living area to have access to a bathroom without having to trek all the way to the rear of the camper.

Jayco Pinnacle 38FLGS Bathroom

Beyond its bathrooms though, this 5th wheel also offers plenty of other features and amenities that make it worth considering, if you’re looking for a large 5th wheel.

Such as a large owner’s bedroom with a king-size bed on a slide-out, a massive mid-kitchen with a center island and a unique sliding table, and a spacious front living room.

As the Pinnacle 38FLGS offers a front living room layout like several other big fifth wheels on this list.

And also like other big 5th wheels on this list, the Pinnacle 38FLGS also offers tons of premium features as well.

Including full-body paint, Climate Shield™ zero-degree tested weather protection, industry-leading ceiling heights, a Magnum Truss roof system, solid hardwood cabinets, dual 15,000 BTU whisper quiet ACs, and accent lighting throughout.

In addition, because it’s a Jayco, it also offers several Jayco-exclusive features as well, including JAYCOMMAND, JayVoice System, and JaySMART.

6th Longest 5th Wheel Camper:  Forest River Riverstone 442MC

  • Length : 44 Feet 4 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 19,131 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 4

The 6th longest fifth wheel on the market is the Forest River Riverstone 442MC, which has one of the most unique floorplans on this list .

As the Riverstone 442MC offers a two-bedroom layout, with a front owner’s suite as well as a rear den that can be used as a second bedroom.

Which makes this camper ideal for families or couples traveling together who need a little extra space and versatility.

As the Riverstone 442MC layout provides a really spacious rear den/living room for the daytime, complete with a couch, theatre seating, and an entertainment center.

While also providing a second bedroom at night, thanks to the den’s sleeper sofa on the back wall that converts into a queen-size bed.

And thanks to the den/bedroom’s dedicated half bath, the space provides even more versatility and convenience.

Forest River Riverstone 442MC Floorplan

Forest River Riverstone 442MC Floorplan

The rear den in this large 5th wheel is just the start of its unique features though, as the Riverstone 442MC actually offers several other unique and notable features as well.

Beginning with its built-in desk.

As this fifth wheel offers a dedicated workspace in the kitchen , for getting work done while on the road.

Making it ideal for full-time RVers that might need to work as well as play from the road.

To see other RVs with office space, check out our blog post “ Top 12 Travel Trailers With Office Space for Remote Work “.

Forest River Riverstone 442MC Kitchen

Another unique feature of this fifth wheel from Forest River is how big and luxurious the kitchen is.

Because while every kitchen on this list of big 5th wheels is large and luxurious, the Riverstone 442MC seems to be a notch above.

As the 442MC kitchen offers two opposing slide-outs, a huge center island, tons of counter space, residential appliances, its own dedicated TV and entertainment center, and one of the largest pantries I’ve ever seen in an RV.

  • Hitch Weight : 1,835 Pounds

The final fifth wheel on this list and the seventh longest 5th wheel you can buy is the Forest River Arctic Wolf 3810SUITE, which has a length of 44 feet 3 inches .

The Arctic Wolf 3810SUITE has a great floor plan designed for full-time RVers, especially those with kids .

Thanks to its large main living area with opposing slide-outs, rear bunkhouse, high sleeping capacity, two full bathrooms, and private owners suite with a king bed and a massive wardrobe.

Forest River Arctic Wolf 3810SUITE Floorplan

Forest River Arctic Wolf 3810SUITE Floorplan

In addition to its great floor plan, the Arctic Wolf 3810SUITE also offers quite a few premium features and amenities as well.

Starting with its kitchen, as it’s loaded with residential-grade appliances, tons of counter space, a large center island, and dual pantries.

Making it ideal for cooking full meals while on the road.

Opposite the kitchen, located in one of the two slide-outs in the main living area, you also have two other desirable RV features, including a free-standing kitchen table for four as well as theatre seating.

Plus, the main living area also has an entertainment center prepped for TV with an electric fireplace, making the space look and feel like home.

But the real draw for most buyers of this large 5th wheel, especially those with kids is its large rear bunkhouse.

To see other large RVs with bunkhouses and bunk beds, check out our blog post “ Top 12 RVs With Bunk Beds (Separated By RV Class) “.

Forest River Arctic Wolf 3810SUITE Bunkhouse

As the Arctic Wolf 3810SUITE has a rear bunkhouse that can sleep up to four, thanks to its jack knife sofa and two upper single bunks.

As well as lots of storage space and prep for a TV, which when combined with the convertible sofa provides a dedicated space for the kids to hang out.

Which can really help on those rainy camp days when everyone is stuck inside, or on those longer camping trips when a little separation and personal space can go a long way.

The longest 5th-wheel camper is the New Horizons 48 FT Majestic, which has an overall length of 48 feet. And is available in three different trim levels and floorplans, including the M48IK4S, the M48RL6S, and the M48RLMP5S.

5th wheel campers can range in length from as little as 19 feet, as is the case with the 19-foot Scamp , to as much as 48 feet, as is the case with the New Horizon 48 FT Majestic. However, most 5th wheel campers will usually fall between 30 and 40 feet long, for an average size fifth wheel.

5th wheel camper width generally ranges from 96 to 102 inches. However, some of the widest fifth-wheel campers, called wide-body 5th wheels can be as wide as 105 inches or 8 feet 9 inches wide.

While the maximum allowed length for an RV in a national park can be as high as 40 or 50 feet. Generally speaking the smaller the RV the better. As there are many national park campgrounds that can only accommodate RVs with a maximum length of 30 feet or less. So if you want to fit in the majority of national parks, it’s best to stick to 5th wheels under 30 feet .

Final Thoughts

Longest 5th Wheel Camper

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a full-time or luxurious RV with plenty of space for the whole family, large 5th wheels can be a great option.

As they not only provide ample room to live comfortably while on long trips, but they also come with incredible features that can help to make the RV feel like a home away from home.

For those looking for the biggest and most luxurious 5th wheels though, we hope our list of the seven longest 5th-wheel campers, has shown you just how big and luxurious some of the largest 5th wheels can be.

Regardless of whether you end up going with one of the largest 5th wheels or a smaller option though, we hope this list has at least shown you what’s possible and available to help narrow down your RV search.
