The 2014 Jeep Wrangler has a long-standing reputation as an SUV capable of tackling almost any terrain, and it's one of few compact SUV s that has standard four-wheel drive. However, it's a poor choice for day-to-day driving, as it has an unrefined ride, low fuel economy, and poor safety and reliability scores. The Wrangler's plastic-heavy, sparsely equipped interior is great for removing dirt and mud, but it looks cheap compared to the more modern cabins in rivals.
Used 2014 Jeep Wrangler Performance and Interior
The 2014 Jeep Wrangler is powered by a 285-horsepower V6 engine that produces adequate power for daily city and highway driving. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a five-speed automatic is available. The base Wrangler gets up to 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. Those are poor fuel estimates for a compact SUV , but the Wrangler's four-wheel-drive system is partly to blame for its inefficiency. The system makes the Wrangler one of the most capable off-road vehicles on the market, but it also makes for an unpleasant, harsh ride on paved roads.

The Jeep Wrangler is available with either two or four doors. The base Wrangler seats four and has cramped back seats, while the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited seats five and has generous rear space. The front seats provide decent comfort in either model. The four-door Wrangler has complete LATCH car-seat connectors on the rear outboard seats. The rear middle seat has an upper tether anchor and the ability to borrow a lower anchor from each of the other back seats. The cabin – made with mostly easy-to-clean plastics – has simple and somewhat dull styling. The Wrangler comes with a soft top, but models equipped with the available removable hardtop will serve you better; they experience significantly less wind and road noise.
The Wrangler comes with few standard features – just a six-speaker stereo and an auxiliary input jack. Available features include power windows and door locks, automatic climate control, a USB port, Bluetooth, navigation, satellite radio, Jeep's Uconnect infotainment system, and an Alpine stereo. Audio and climate controls are straightforward.

Which Used Jeep Wrangler Is Right for Me?
The Jeep Wrangler comes with four-wheel drive and is available in two- and four-door (Jeep Wrangler Unlimited) body styles. Each body style has three trim levels: Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon.
The Wrangler Sport – the base model – comes with a soft top, a fold-down windshield, a six-speaker stereo, and an auxiliary input. With so few standard features, most shoppers should skip the Wrangler Sport and consider one of the upper trims.
The Wrangler Sahara offers more comfort and convenience with its standard air conditioning, power windows and door locks, heated side mirrors, 115-volt power outlet, six-speaker Alpine stereo with subwoofer, satellite radio, and keyless entry. The Wrangler Rubicon is the most trail-ready of the three models, adding off-road performance-enhancing upgrades, including a new front axle, electronic front- and rear-axle lockers, and an electronic sway-bar disconnect system. If you plan to tackle some serious off-road trails, go with the Rubicon.
The Wrangler's poor reliability rating may lead you to consider a certified pre-owned vehicle. For certified pre-owned Jeep vehicles, the original new-car powertrain warranty is extended to seven years or 100,000 miles.
