The National Announces UK and European Tour Dates for 2024

by Em Casalena November 10, 2023, 6:04 pm

American rock band The National has announced additional tour dates in the United Kingdom and Europe for their current 2023-2024 tour. Their original tour dates that span the United States, New Zealand, and Australia will feature special guests Hand Habits, Fleet Foxes, and Annie Hamilton.

Videos by American Songwriter

The recently added tour dates will span countries including Italy, France, Germany, Croatia, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, and the UK. Special guest acts will include This Is The Kit, Bess Atwell, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Kevin Morby.

The band is also scheduled to perform at several music festivals in 2024, including Hurricane Festival, Southside Festival, INmusic Festival, and Live is Live.

The Grammy-nominated indie rock band will kick off their next stop on the First Two Pages of Frankenstein Tour today in San Francisco, California at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and close the tour at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 6, 2024.

The National’s Matt Berninger recently talked about his experience on this tour in an interview with NME’s Andrew Trendell. “We’ve been playing a lot of really old stuff and some stuff that we haven’t played at all yet, so every night is a disaster in one fun way or another!” said Berninger. Fans can expect an eclectic mix of music from this tour.

Tickets for the US, Australia, and New Zealand leg of the tour are currently on sale via StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. General ticket sales for their European and United Kingdom leg of the tour will start on November 15 and 17. Presale tickets for the London and Edinburgh shows will be available on November 14.

The National has carved a niche in the music world with their distinctive Ohio-mixed-with-Brooklyn indie rock sound and profound lyrics. Formed in Cincinnati in 1999, the band consists of Matt Berninger (lead vocals), Aaron Dessner (guitar, keyboards), Bryce Dessner (guitar), Scott Devendorf (bass), and Bryan Devendorf (drums). Their music, often described as dark, melancholic, and richly textured, has resonated deeply with fans worldwide. Old heads will enjoy this tour’s notable mix of tracks from the band’s older and newer albums.

The National’s ascent to fame was marked by Boxer (2007), featuring the hit “Fake Empire,” which solidified their place in the indie rock scene. Another standout album, High Violet (2010), included the hit “Bloodbuzz Ohio”. The band’s most recent albums First Two Pages of Frankenstein and Laugh Track were released in 2023 with positive reviews. The latter is considered a “surprise” album that was announced only a few days before its release.

Tickets for the First Two Pages of Frankenstein Tour are selling out fast, especially in California and Texas. Snatch those seats while you can!

The National are probably the biggest band to come out of Cincinnati, Ohio. The indie-rock group is made up of 5 band members, including two sets of brothers, who play alongside lead singer Matt Beringer.

The band were formed in 1999, and they’ve been touring pretty much ever since. Most of their time as a group has been spent in Brooklyn, New York, where they’ve had a slow burning career that’s seen them grow from being a hardworking but relatively unknown band, to a group who headline festivals around the world and sell out 20,000 capacity arenas.

The full line up consists of lead vocalist Matt Beringer, twin brothers Aaron (guitar, bass, keys) and Bryce Dessner (guitar), and another set of brothers Scott (bass, guitar) and Bryan Devendorf (drums).

Matt Beringer’s distinctive baritone voice, alongside his self-penned discerning lyrics gives the band a unique sound, often described as erring on the sombre-side. They are said to have taken influence from the likes of Tom Waits and Nick Cave, but believe strongly in being innovative and continuing to grow independently as an act.

Interesting fact: one of their biggest breakthrough moments came from their track "Fake Empire" featuring on the 2008 Obama campaign. This, alongside successful support tours with artists like R.E.M., set them on the path to their current popularity. The release of "High Violet" in 2010 saw them reach the biggest achievements of their career - hitting the top 5 across the UK, US and Canada.

Their most recent album "Trouble Will Find Me", was the record that really cemented them into the mainstream. Just before the release of this sixth EP, they premiered a documentary called "Mistaken For Strangers" which followed the band on their "High Violet" tour, focusing mainly on the relationship between singer Matt Beringer and his brother, who took on the role of assistant tour manager.

The National are true strivers, they’ve gradually warmed their way into many a record collection, and with each release prove themselves to be more accomplished than before. Despite their more recent successes, they are not to be considered as having reached a peak: it’s in their nature to continue to improve on themselves.

Live reviews

I suppose any music lover feels a personal connection with what they are listening too, no matter how trite. For fans of The National, the deeply personal, cathartic nature of their songs always seem to express a deep sense of longing. It’s become emblematic of their songs: that somewhat mournful tone in the Dessner production, the halted and deep baritone of Berninger voice, the stark delivery of the rhythm by the Devendorfs.

Few bands know how to manage the mediums which they use as effectively as The National. Their studio sound is immaculate but their live shows are just as perfectly constructed to give the sense of a magical connection between band and crowd night after night. To these talents we can now add short film with Mike Mills’ oeuvre.

Although I personally felt that they had relied too much on their emblematic character over content on their previous album: Sleep Well Beast and I was relieved and delighted by the novelty of an overtly feminin nature on I am Easy to Find. It is a truly excellent LP to add to their already impressive catalogue of outstanding albums but it is easier to achieve intimacy in a studio. The Dessners are expert producers, lending their latents to many other musicians in the Indie world. Harnessing The National’s inimitable vibe in the controlled environment of a studio is easier than expressing deep and personal feeling during a rock concert.

This is where Matt Berninger shines. While the other members of the band play fantastically and even with some theatricality; occasionally trading places and instruments throughout. Berninger’s stage presence is what truly makes a The National concert an experience.

He doesn’t have a good singing voice and he doesn’t have expressive of diverting stage banter (On this occasion he shared the fact that their tour bus has truck a moose on route to Montreal) but what he does have is the ability to give the impression he is reaching out to us, the audience members.

Unlike most musicians who regularly appear in the news for kicking cameras or knocking peoples’ phones out of their hands, Berninger encourages cell phone filming in his shows through his antics. Granted, there is pro forma pre-recorded warning prior to the show that all venues play which warns that filming the show is forbidden, but when the modern audience inevitably pull out their devices to “capture the moment”, the National frontman gives them something to remember. During one song he took a phone out of a front row audience member’s hand and carried it on-stage alternating between filming himself in extreme confessional close-up or capturing guitar work by one Dessner or another.

In another case, he took the phone on a wild ride during one of his legendary walkabouts through the audience. If you’ve been to a The National show, you will recognize this characteristic move by Berninger. He will suddenly become compelled to leave the stage and plow into the crowd. He enters into what appears to be some kind of fugue state, moving back and forth, carving a path through the throngs of the audience members who reach out to touch him, hug him or, more often than not, film him. His interactions are impetuous, short and frenetic, almost brusque as though he is desperate to find what he is looking for and that search is always a physical manifestation of intimacy.

Even when he is on stage, this personae of the desperation and frustration as he strives to connect with us on a personal level is made manifest by the way he wrestled his mike from its stand, flinging the inanimate object violently when it refuses to cooperate. He climbs onto lights and monitors or paces back and forth with nervous hands as though he is trapped and desperate to get out, to connect, with us. Sometimes he seems to almost manage a personal moment, a passing high five or sharing the rest of his bottle of cold red wine with the front row.

It’s an act. The moves are just as rehearsed as a pop diva’s choreographed dance sequence, if less overt. The roadies are always at hand to pick up that recalcitrant mic stand and somehow, empathically, know when Berninger will suddenly be compelled to plunge into the crowd and have an improbable 200 feet of mic cord at the ready. We know the moves, we wait for the sudden yet inevitable breakdown of Mr. November, we sing along with Vanderlyle, yet they still affect us.

I know it’s a conceit, but it’s great showmanship which make us believe we have shared something special and it’s what keeps me coming back show after show.

I have been introduced to The National by my husband in 2002 when we moved to Vancouver. I was automatically drawn to their music. Being in a new city, and without knowing anyone, I often spend my free time going for long walks and exploring. Their music provided me with a lot of comfort as I strolled through streets full of people, yet feeling alone. Their dark, full of melancholy music fills me up with longing for more. In times where I need a good cry, when I do chores around the house, when I sit down with a glass of wine, it is my go to music. I love all their albums, but High Violet, Trouble will find me, and Boxer are definitely albums that are on the constant repeat. My husband, a music fanatic, is always on the lookout for the new and greatest bands. He keeps introducing me to new artists, yet after listening to one or two songs from their album, I switch the ITunes to play The National. If someone asked me what my favourite song is it would go like this: "I should live in salt" , "Fireproof", "Graceless", "I need my girl", "This is the last time", "Terrible love", "Sorrow", "Lemonworld" "Mistaken for Strangers", "Fake Empire" "Abel" "Trouble will find me"... the list can go on and on.. I don't think they have ever written a bad song. What I love about their songs is not only the melodies are superbly written but the lyrics are full of meaning (and that is hard to find in music today). The National are bringing back music that matters, music that fills your heart and soul. I had a pleasure of attending one of their concerts here in Vancouver in 2013 at the PNE. It was the most amazing show ever. I am about to turn 40, yet I was screaming like a teenager! Did I mention, I love Matt! I recently watched the documentary "Mistaken for Strangers" and loved this new expose of the band... The National, unique sound, amazing vocals, beautiful melodies, dark lyrics, talented musicians and song writers... I would do anything to see them in concert again!

I had such a great evening seeing The National! Matt's interaction with the crowd was second to none. On multiple occasions throughout the evening he descended into the standing area, and sometimes the audience lost sight of him for what felt like minutes (but probably was seconds, thanks to security).

Irish singer Lisa Hannigan, who provided backing vocals on Sleep Well Beast, joined the National at multiple points during the night. Her enchanting vocals were sadly lost at first, but after a few adjustments she provided a haunting accompaniment to Matt's iconic baritone voice.

Matt's voice often reached new levels of emotion when it transcended into a guttural scream on certain songs.

As the night drew to a close, Matt announced that they were to sing 'the most depressing song we've ever written' - About Today. Hailing from their 2004 EP Cherry Tree, this was a particularly special moment. The crowd fell silent and eyes were drawn once again to the incredible light show behind the musicians.

Having performed a cover of Talking Heads' Heaven, support act This Is the Kit and Lisa Hannigan joined the stage for a beautiful, bittersweet rendition of Born to Beg.

The icing on the cake of a beautiful two hour concert was the final song - Terrible Love. Matt walked through the crowd as we all sang in unison 'it takes an ocean not to break'.

My only regret is that we didn't get to hear Mr November, my favourite song.

The National can be depressing, and there's no denying I felt slightly melancholy this morning, but in today's world it's impossible - at least for me at least - to pretend that everything is going swimmingly.

We need music that examines our deepest emotions to prevent us burying our heads in the sand. And with that, we need the National.

Morrissey’s voice made introductions by way of lyric as The Smiths’ “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I What” was piped over the PA while the band took their position on stage. Berninger and the brothers were joined by a pair of multi-instrumentalists who dabbled in various sounds throughout the night, but whose main contribution came in the form of horns. As Morrissey’s pleas faded behind the three split-screens that acted as backdrops, Berninger was pacing like a caged beast; his neck bent, his head facing the ground, and his long blonde hair obscuring not only his glasses, but most of his facial features as well. “Thank you,” he said curtly, before following the brothers into “Don’t Swallow the Cap”. Everyone was on their feet, with their arms overhead, when the LSD-inspired rainbow light-show was washed out in bubbling crimson waves as the night transitioned into “Bloodbuzz Ohio”. Then we were treated to the first preview of the evening…

“Checking Out” started out with simple synth, then Berninger came in with his deep, introspective, stream-of-consciousness vocals about fucking things up, before a light backbeat and simple chord progression met him somewhere in the middle. The song continued to be very synth and vocal driven from beginning to end. Multiple members of the band have spoken about a new direction forward, and if “Checking Out” is any indication of where the new road leads, I’m certainly along for the ride.

This show was labeled "A Special Night with The National" and was a limited 6 city engagement that included a viewing of a short film directed by Mike Mills (not THAT one) and scored by special arrangements of tracks from IAETF and Q&A with Mike and one of the Dessner's and Matt.

The short film was good, very moving about a woman's (Alicia Vikander) journey from childhood through life and including all the experiences one would imagine a woman has/goes through. To this end the female collaboration on the new album lends itself very well.

The main set was comprised of the new tracks from IAETF and featured appearances by Julien Baker for a couple of songs, as well as the Brooklyn something Chorus/Choir. The live arrangements were complete with string trio and brass duo. The songs were good but most (all but 2 or 3) lacked the energy that one is accustomed to seeing from The National (this is neither a good thing nor a bad thing, I get it, this was a toned down show, to be seen more like an art show). The encore consisted of 3 or 4 songs from the back catalog and Not in Kansas, which packed so many political and societal issues into one song it will make your head spin. They played Fake Empire, Bloodbuzz and The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness which demonstrated the regular energy of a 'The National' show.

Overall a good show, definitely different from the 8 or 9 times I've seen them previously.

I saw The National at the Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta this May. I have always liked their music but did not have a strong desire to see them live because their music is so mellow. However, they were awesome! I was pretty close to the stage in a general admission area. The sound was great and their energy was great too. I was shocked at how bad ass the lead singer is. He was smashing things on stage and even came out into the audience and crowd "walked" around. I was so close I could almost touch his hand. At the end of the show, they were so thankful of the audience, and it seems like they genuinely care about their fans and want to make sure that they give the best performance possible. I really enjoy their current album, Trouble Will Find Me. "Graceless" and "I Need my Girl" are my favorite songs. They have been around for awhile (I think about 10 years), and their music just keeps getting better, and they stay current. Seeing them live made me more interested in them as a band. I would definitely see them again if they came back into town.

Some people of my age (82) want to try Parachuting, Bungee Jumping or some other daring pursuit while still on this planet but my greatest wish was to go to a live concert of that amazing band, The National!

I was so lucky to be in Brighton last Saturday (7th Dec) to have my wish granted and the whole experience was fantastic - they even played my very favourite song, ‘Light Years’. The song list was well chosen, full of contrast in mood and tempo and the audience responded happily to singing Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks!

Our group included three generations, myself, two daughters and a granddaughter, all National fans.

The Brighton Centre is an excellent venue and the audience was so receptive and enthusiastic. I think Matt himself must have realised that, considering his many ventures down to the front row. At one point, he stumbled and my younger daughter held out her hands to steady him - unfortunately he stood on her toes but all is forgiven, Matt!

I had heard they were a life changing show prior to going, but I was skeptical due to how hyperbolic people tend to be about that kind of thing, but HOLY SHIT.

They had a bit of a rocky start, but once they got their groove on (and Beringer got sufficiently drunk) 2-3 songs in, it was one of the most surreal shows I've ever had the pleasure of attending.

their music is often noted for being a bit mellow, but this show couldn't be less so. when it they weren't reaching swans-level volumes with songs like Mr November, they were delivering some satisfyingly visceral takes on classics like "Don't Swallow the Cap" or "Fake Empire"

seriously, though, this show was insane & I highly recommend seeing them to anyone if they're in your area.

An incredible live performance. Matt and the band bring to life songs from the album with such passion and grit in ways that can't fully be explained. They make you fall in love again with music and songs that you may have listened to hundreds of times and thought you understood. They emotionally charge into anthems and b sides alike and have a great time interacting with the crowd, with Matt often stepping off stage or singing with the crowd around him. The stage presence, comments between songs, goofy dancing by Matt, band mate banter and red solo cups handed out or flung into the crowd all add to the incredible musical performance. I can't recommend seeing them enough. If you're a fan this is a must see show.

scoles01’s profile image

They are absolutely incredible live. Between Matt's shrieking during The Pull of You and the intensity of Bryce and Aaron during rockers like Day I Die (during which Matt waded deep into the crowd) and System, this was certainly not a boring affair! Even the quieter numbers (Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks, Light Years, etc) had a coiled intensity. Matt is super funny on stage, telling clever anecdotes and giving away the mic stand at the end of the concert. The only caveat to the performance was that the whole field reeked of weed, so strong it was making me and my SO sick. Most of the fans just stood there smoking instead of actually having fun and dancing. The band itself was awesome though!

The National Golf Brussels in Sterrebeek is aiming big

Golf course architect Bruno Steensels has designed what many rank among the strongest championship courses in Belgium, giving you 6 km of total golfing pleasure.

While it’s impossible to capture the entire design in a single snapshot, rest assured that it is all about the experience. It is simultaneously extroverted with major differences in heights, while also being introverted thanks to the subtly intimate stretches. You’ll never feel rushed while playing and can enjoy your game and the greenery to the fullest.

The National Golf Brussels intends to turn golfing events into an all-in experience. The Driving Range with its two levels and 60 practice mats sets the tone, plus the additional 25 grass tees, as well as the 300 meter driving length. The putting greens, the chipping areas and the 6-hole course complete the picture.

NICOLAS COLSAERTS LOVES THE NATIONAL

The National Golf Brussels is definitely one of the courses to which Nicolas Colsaerts is certain to return.

Nicolas Colsaerts is already a fan of The National. And not just of our golf course, but also of our professional training facilities and clubhouse.

Nicolas Colsaerts is very impressed by the level of The National Golf Brussels. He firmly believes that youngsters will take to our course and develop their game to become the future successors of Belgium’s current crop of top players.

Everything is on hand at the club for players to extract the most enjoyment from their golf – as well as for them to hone their playing technique and allow their talent to develop and flourish.

National, The (Brussels)

The National Golf Brussels, located just outside Belgium's capital city, is home to a modern championship golf course, which opened for play in 2017. Set in a quiet area of attractive fields and paddocks, this relatively open undulating layout will seriously challenge all aspects of your game. With plenty of bold expansive bunkering, rolling elevation changes and a well-crafted linksy layout, both nine-hole loops provide a thoroughly enjoyable test. Described by many as an "inland links", there are certainly many reminders here of seaside golf ... without the sea! Wonderfully rolling fairways, plenty of elevation change (but never too onerous to walk), and excellent quality bunkering are some of The National's hallmarks. Water threatens on at least seven holes, most notably at the risk-reward par-5 18th ... one of the most fearsome closing holes in Belgium. A small lake wraps around the final green, with a large back bunker providing the only realistic "bail-out" option. The green might be comfortingly wide, but it lacks any depth at all; pin-point yardage is required for your final approach shot. Walk off this final green with par or better, and you'll certainly close-out your round on a high! Two things The National will need to be mindful of as it justifiably settles into Belgian's elite. First, the linksy mounding is currently covered in fine fescues ... that needs to continue and not give way to all manner of vegetation that will try and take over. Second, the world's very best inland links (e.g. Erin Hills, Ballyneal, French Lick, et al) have barely any trees on the course ... The National already has too many ...

Who can play and when?

Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

Must book in advance. Maximum handicap for green-fee payers: 28 (men and women).

Practice facilities

Did you know?

The clubhouse and several holes at The National occupy land that was previously home to Belgium's largest horse racing facility, the Sterrebeek Hippodrome (aka Quatre Bras Hippodrome). The circuit was built in 1938-9 by Mr Jean Du Roy de Blicquy, but only one race could be held before the outbreak of World War II. During the war the new hippodrome was commandeered by the Germans as a hospital for horses. After the war Sterrebeek became Belgium's largest horse racing facility with stall space for more than 300 horses. The circuit hosted both harness and flat racing on a lava track. As horse racing in Belgium seriously declined during the 1990s, an initiative to convert the circuit into a golf facility began to emerge in the early-2000s, culminating in The National opening for play in 2017.

The Masters : The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).

Chevron Championship : the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).

Who's Who

Nelly Korda : records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory. Scottie Scheffler : narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open . This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players . Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club : With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility. Jim Fazio 's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.

Prince's Golf Club, Kent (UK)

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf. Stay&Play at Prince's : excellent onsite Lodge accommodation available

A country famed for its biennial Flower Carpet festival, Belgium is alive with floral colors at many times of the year. Take a book or download an app and you’ll quickly learn to differentiate varieties of begonias and poppies.

Comfortable shoes

From the flower lined streets of Bruge, to the gorgeous fields of Flanders, you'll need a reliable pair of walking shoes for your trip to Belgium.

An open mind

Belgium is known for its progressive mindset and forward-thinking legal system, often praised for re-shaping outdated systems long before the rest of the world. Feel right at home here with an open mind.

Green Day, Notorious B.I.G., The Chicks and More Added to National Recording Registry — See All 25 Titles

The songs and albums have been deemed "worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance"

Gilbert Flores/Billboard via Getty Images; Harry Durrant/Getty Images; Larry Busacca/Getty Images

Green Day , the Notorious B.I.G and The Chicks are among the latest artists whose work will be preserved forever in Washington, D.C.

On April 16, the U.S. Library of Congress announced the 2024 class of titles selected for induction into the National Recording Registry, with the organization explaining the 25 chosen songs and albums are "worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation’s recorded sound heritage."

Out of 2,899 nominations, albums that made the cut include Green Day's 1994 major label debut Dookie , The Chicks' 1998 major label debut Wide Open Spaces and the Notorious B.I.G.'s 1994 debut Ready to Die — his sole full-length release before his tragic 1997 death.

Gilbert Flores/Penske Media via Getty

Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day spoke to the Library of Congress about Dookie getting chosen for the class of 2024, explaining that the album's lasting impact is because "the lyrics are just so honest and from where my life was at that time."

"We always wanted to be in this band forever," reflected Armstrong, 52. "I think in the back of our minds was to be able to play music together for the rest of our lives. So that's, that's quite a goal when you're 20 or 21 years old. But, you know, we've managed to do it, and it's just been an amazing journey so far."

Blondie's Parallel Lines is another title joining the Library of Congress, and Debbie Harry told the Library of Congress she recalls Chrysalis Records "didn't like" or "hear any hits" on the 1978 album — which spawned classics including "One Day or Another" and "Heart of Glass."

Brian Cooke/Redferns

"The old problems of art and commerce are sometimes very restrictive," said Harry, 78, "and I think that we, somehow being a bit of a fringe element, got to do some things that were, you know, groundbreaking."

Additional albums inducted into the Library of Congress this year include ABBA 's 1976 Arrival , Lee Morgan's 1964 The Sidewinder , Jefferson Airplane's 1967 Surrealistic Pillow , Lily Tomlin 's 1971 This Is a Recording , J.D. Crowe & the New South's 1975 self-titled album, The Cars' 1978 self-titled debut album and Kronos Quartet's 1982 Pieces of Africa.

Songs in the 2024 class include Gene Autry's 1949 "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick's "La-Di-Da-Di," Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy," Juan Gabriel's "Amor Eterno," Benny Goodman Sextet with Charlie Christian's 1939 "Rose Room," Viola Turpeinen and John Rosendahl's 1928 "Kauhavan Polkka," Lt. James Reese Europe’s 369th U.S. Infantry (Hell Fighters) Band's 1919 "Clarinet Marmalade," Patti Page's 1950 "Tennessee Waltz," Jackie Brenston and His Delta Cats' "Rocket '88'," Perry Como's 1957 "Catch a Falling Star" and "Magic Moments," Johnny Mathis' "Chances Are" and Héctor Lavoe's "El Cantante."

Never miss a story — sign up for  PEOPLE's free daily newsletter  to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden spoke about the newly inducted recordings — which bring the total number of titles to 650 — in a statement.

"We have selected audio treasures worthy of preservation with our partners this year, including a wide range of music from the past 100 years, as well as comedy," she said. "We were thrilled to receive a record number of public nominations, and we welcome the public’s input on what we should preserve next."

Nicki minaj's husband begs court to let him go on tour with her outside u.s., nicki minaj's hubby begs court for green light i wanna go on tour too.

Nicki Minaj 's husband, Kenneth Petty , is asking a court for permission to travel out of the country so he can join her on tour in Europe ... and he says he'll be needed overseas.

According to court docs, obtained by TMZ, KP says he isn't just looking to globe-trot with Nicki for fun -- on the contrary, he says it's necessary to join her on the European leg of her "Pink Friday 2" world tour for a bunch of reasons, mainly to provide childcare for their son.

The start date he lists for the anticipated travel schedule is April 17, 2024 ... and he says there will be stops in Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Austria, Ireland, Switzerland, and Romania.

Petty says he plans to be back in the U.S. by July 14, 2024, right after the tour wraps up -- and is hoping for a green light to join his wife ASAP.

According to the docs, his probation officer hasn't raised any objections to his travel request. However, if Kenneth's request gets approved, he'll likely need to provide the officer with a detailed travel itinerary and also check in once he's back.

As previously reported, Kenneth is currently serving 3 years probation for failing to register as a sex offender in California. That's the reason he even has to jump through these hoops.

A judge has yet to sign off -- and the court denies his request, Kenneth's gotta stay put.

Whether it’s the drive up Magnolia Lane or the green jacket donned by the victor, the Masters is known for a multitude of things: azaleas in full bloom in early spring, Rae’s Creek, Butler Cabin and the quintessential selection of food and drinks enjoyed exclusively by patrons in attendance. Or rather, that used to be the case.

Insert "Taste of the Masters," a food and beverage initiative spearheaded by Augusta National in 2020 when the tournament took place at a non-traditional time, in November, with no patrons on-site due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic challenged the sports and entertainment industry to adjust and adapt, and the Masters was no different. It began with a simple question from the team at Augusta National: What are some ways to help bring the experience to fans and make this a memorable tournament?

Aside from opening an online patron shop that allowed ticketed patrons to purchase Masters merchandise from home (the Masters only sells official Masters merchandise on the grounds at Augusta National), the team also came up with the idea of selling Masters food and drink kits to those ticketed patrons, which they dubbed "Taste of the Masters."

The club and hospitality team spearheaded this initiative by identifying the items that represented the Masters best. Without hesitation, the answer was obvious: pimento cheese.

There may be no other concession item in sports that holds the weight or reputation of Augusta National’s pimento cheese sandwiches. With the perfect amount of spice paired with cheesy creaminess and jammed between two pieces of fresh white bread, the pimento cheese sandwich has been a staple on the menu board at Augusta since the 1950s.

Beyond pimento cheese, the team knew they needed to fill the kits with other options to satisfy the appetites of all who planned to enjoy the meals from home. Pork bar-b-que and egg salad were added as entree options, as were sides including Augusta’s signature chocolate chip cookies and potato chips.

When tasked with the challenge of replicating the on-site experience, however, a final few pieces were vital. While the food offerings satisfied the taste aspect, to really give it that Masters feel they added authentic plastic Masters cups and sheets of the iconic Masters checkerboard serving paper.

The "Taste of the Masters" was such a hit that the team brought it back for the 2021 Masters, which featured partial patron attendance. The kits were now available to everyone, not just ticketed patrons, and sold out even faster.

And that was a wrap on the kits, or so the team thought.

The kits were discontinued in 2022, as patrons on-site could once again enjoy the full offerings while strolling the grounds. But overwhelming fan feedback suggested that the kits were missed.

The team was not expecting "Taste of the Masters" to become a fan staple, but as folks expressed how important it was to have the kits, using them to create or enhance their traditions around watching the tournament together, it became clear it had. Augusta National recognized the opportunity for people to recreate the patron experience at home, and so, "Taste of the Masters" returned in 2023.

For 2024, the Augusta National team continued to look at ways to evolve and perfect the project. One enhancement for this year: Fans have had a say in what's included thanks to their feedback. Bar-b-que potato chips, Georgia pecan caramel popcorn and Masters coasters are included in the kit, with the popcorn’s inclusion a direct result of fan feedback. The team even added a smaller tasting kit as an option this year, also a direct result of fan feedback, which also includes fun accessories like food item placards and miniature Masters flag toothpicks to hold sandwiches together.

For Augusta National, the kits are yet another opportunity to go above and beyond for fans across the country while also paying homage to the tournament's roots in Augusta, Georgia. The food and beverage experience is part of Masters history, which started with the vision of Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts, who believed that food was key to the Masters’ evolution as an elite sporting experience for patrons. The two tournament pioneers wanted the menu to reflect a southern-style picnic, with sandwiches as an easy option that locals could create in their homes and bring to the course for the patrons.

The menu has come a long way since the Masters inception in 1934, with the Taste of the Masters as simply the next step in its evolution. What originally started as an almost regional, exclusive offering for ticketed fans in 2020 has now grown to a nationwide fan favorite in households across the country. As for whether the Masters pimento cheese sandwich has made its way to all 50 states, it’s hard to say, but 2024 is the first year where shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is available. And why stop there? Fan interest north of the border suggests that "Taste of the Masters" could be headed to Canada as well.

While nothing is guaranteed, "Taste of the Masters" looks to be around for the long haul.
