Licensure Requirements
Nurses who do not hold a multistate license must apply for Licensure by Endorsement as follows:
- Create a DELPROS user account.
- Submit the application and pay the associated fees.
- Graduation from a Board-approved Nursing education program within the last two years
- Minimum of 1,000 practice hours during the five years prior to submitting the application
- Minimum of 400 hours of practice hours during the two years prior to submitting the application
- Completion of a Board-approved refresher program
- Submit a Nursing Employer Reference Form .
- Submit a Nursing School Reference Form .
- Submit verification of your original Licensure by Examination through Nursys Ⓡ or Verification of Original Licensure Form .
- Submit a copy of your job offer letter.
- Submit a copy of your driver’s license or official identification card provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Submit a fingerprint-based criminal background check .
Temporary licenses are available and expire 90 days after issue.
To be qualified for a Delaware licensure by endorsement you must be:
1. A registered RN or LPN with a current nursing license in another state or jurisdiction; or
2. Have never held a Delaware LPN/RN license
Delaware has a home state of residents requirement. This means you may only apply for a Delaware licensure by endorsement if only one of the following applies to you:
- Your current home state of residence is Delaware; or
- Your current home state of residence is not a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state; or
- Your current home state of residence is another NLC state but you plan to move to Delaware or to a state that is not a NLC state; or
- Your current home state of residence is another NLC state but your license from your home state is not a Multistate license.
Licensure Fees
Nursing licensure fees for Delaware are as follows:
- RN and LPN license (all types): $170
- RN and LPN reinstatement: $255
- Temporary permit (all types): $40
- Background check: $65
Other service requests may incur additional fees, which include:
- CE provider approval: $250
- Upgrade to multistate licensure: $25
- Verification of licensure: $35
- Verification of licensure with exam score/hours/history: $45

Delaware participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), which allows RNs and LPNs to possess a multistate license that affords the privilege of practicing in any of the NLC-participating states.
