There’s rarely been a time in recent history in which travel has been more out of reach. That means we all have to live out our travel dreams vicariously for now. Enter the travel TV genre — our most straightforward path to inspirational and aspirational escapism .

No network has changed the game more in recent years than Netflix when it comes to providing a great list of travel shows that’ll motivate you to hit the road one day while scratching that wanderlust itch between trips. But this being Netflix, there’s a dearth of content to sort through. Knowing where to start and which shows are worth your binging time is tough.

We’re here to help. The fifteen travel series below are the best Netflix has to offer right now. We’ve gone ahead and ranked them, though we have to point out that these rankings represent minor quibbles at most. We also tried to cover multiple types of travel shows from the standard food+travel series to nature shows to reality TV travel escapism.

15. Restaurants On The Edge

1 season, 6 episodes | IMDb: 6.8/10

The “fixer-up” aspect of reality TV is a tried and true concept. Gordon Ramsay has umpteen shows doing just that. Where Restaurants on the Edge stands out is the travel and cultural aspect of the show. Restaurateur Nick Liberato, chef Dennis Prescott, and designer Karin Bohn travel the world and find restaurants with amazing views that are on the edge of shutting down (something that’s become even more heightened given recent global events). They team up with the restaurant’s chefs and owners to turn the place around. The ripple here is that the hosts guide the local owners to delve more deeply into the local culture and have their establishments better represent that scene.

14. Stay Here

1 season, 8 episodes | IMDb: 7.5/10

Designer Genevieve Gorder and real estate expert Peter Lorimer join forces in Stay Here to help homeowners turn their spaces into short-term vacation rentals. This is all about Airbnb’ing your digs even though “ Airbnb ” is never mentioned. This is a fun and breezy travel show that goes deep enough to show you how much works goes into the sharing-economy to make it actually work for you. In the end, you’ll have a whole new appreciation for that perfect Airbnb you stayed in.

13. The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes

2 seasons, 12 episodes | IMDb: 7.6/10

This show is addictive. Let’s get this out of the way. This is luxury and lifestyle porn first and foremost. It’s a traveling show, we guess, by proxy. However, it’s intoxicating.

The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes takes us inside architectural wonders around the world. These range from the homes of the elites in places like Greece, Los Angeles, and New Zealand to the homes of a fisherman in Japan and writers in Holland. Hosts Piers Taylor (an architect) and Caroline Quentin (a British actor) offer a great entry point. Taylor offers professional insight, while Quentin is the audience’s awed surrogate.

12. Tales By Light

3 seasons, 18 episodes | IMDb: 8.3/10

Tales By Light isn’t your average travel show per se. The focus here is on great travel photographers and how they operate around the world.

The photographers the show follows just happen to be some of the best in the world who have devoted their life to globetrotting to find the absolute best shot. Every corner of the world is covered over three seasons of breathtaking episodes and crazy escapades.

Seriously, one episode is about swimming with anacondas in the Amazon.

11. Night On Earth

1 season, 6 episodes | IMDb: 8.2/10

Shows like Night On Earth offer a glimpse into the world that beckons you out into the wider world. These are the shows that lay a foundation of wanderlust in our young souls. On top of all of that, this show is visually mesmerizing. It’s a trippy, unique, and captivating look at our world, and it’ll make you want to be someone who seeks these places out.

10. High On The Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America

1 Season, 4 Episodes | IMDb: 7.7/10

High on the Hog is based on the seminal work of Dr. Jessica Harris and her breaking down of how African food cultures mingled with Indigenous American foods and European techniques to help define what American food is today. The show is a sort of short-hand for Dr. Harris’ work and book, with chef and writer Stephen Satterfield trekking around America and West Africa looking back at the origins of African American cuisines, where those foods are today, and profiling the people keeping those traditions alive. This is the sort of travel show that will stick with you while teaching crucial history about Black Americans’ impact on the food we eat today.

9. Our Planet

1 season, 8 episodes | IMDb: 9.3/10

Our Planet is Netflix’s very own Planet Earth . They even got Sir David Attenborough to narrate this beautiful series. Again, yes, this is a nature series. But, we argue that a series this intriguing and beguiling will stoke your wanderlust fires and get you out there enjoying everything nature has to offer. If this series doesn’t get you itching to see new places on our planet, nothing will.

8. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

1 season, 4 episodes | IMDb: 6.8/10

David Chang’s second Netflix travel and food show is a little broader than Ugly Delicious . This four-part series finds Chang hanging out with big-name celebrities and diving into local food scenes around the world. Seth Rogan shows Chang around Vancouver while getting very stoned. Internet star and model Chrissy Teigen wanders around Marrakesh with the chef. Writer and actor Lena Waithe takes Chang through her Los Angeles. Finally, the show’s final ( and best ) episode finds Chang hanging out with SNL superstar Kate McKinnon in Cambodia. Overall, this is an easy, fun watch to breeze through on a shut-in Sunday.

7. Ugly Delicious

2 seasons, 12 episodes | IMDb: 7.8/10

Chef David Chang’s food show, Ugly Delicious , is a travel show at its heart. Chang travels the world eating food and talking to people about culture, life, and what they do while experiencing it all for himself — that’s all travel really is. The beauty of the show lies in the lack of pretension — a child-like curiosity really — that Chang carries with him as he travels, talks, and eats. The way Chang travels becomes aspirational with a crazy good dose of food porn along for the ride.

6. Larry Charles’ Dangerous World Of Comedy

1 season, 4 episodes | IMDb: 7.3/10

Larry Charles’ Dangerous World Of Comedy is a travel show at its heart. Acclaimed TV and film comedy director, Larry Charles, travels the world seeking out how comedy is done in war zones, on Indian reservations, in theocracies, in slums, and beyond.

This is the sort of show that takes you deep inside the harder side of life around the world. It’s a part behind-the-scenes look at TV comedy around and a part subversive travelogue with a keen eye on finding the grey areas of life and comedy in places few dare to travel. Plus, it’s only four one-hour episodes, making this one a very easy binge.

5. Dark Tourist

1 season, 8 episodes | IMDb: 7.6/10

David Farrier’s Dark Tourist isn’t what you think it is . This isn’t about the western gaze, looking down upon the weird or “other.” Farrier’s nuanced approach to travel and diversity shines through as he parses some of the lesser-known parts of varying cultures.

The show shines in its ability to hook you in from the first frames. Episodes about vampires in New Orleans, Pablo Escobar’s hitmen, and haunted forests offer a glimpse into the unknown in our world without judgment.

4. Somebody Feed Phil

4 seasons, 22 episodes | IMDb: 8.2/10

Phil Rosenthal has cut out a pretty great second act after his days running Everybody Loves Raymond . Rosenthal is traveling around the world eating great food, meeting people, and seeing new places he thought he’d never see.

Rosenthal is on a trip of discovery. There’s a clear food focus to the show. But, really, the series ends up being just as much about the journey as a great meal with new friends.

3. Street Food

2 season, 15 episodes | IMDb: 8/10

This series from the creators of Chef’s Table leans more heavily into the travel aspect of great cooking. The series highlights street food vendors across East Asia, Mexico, and Central and South America through two seasons. The series revels in letting those vendors tell their stories and highlighting the food they make with that now iconic Chef’s Table aesthetic . The bonus is that each episode clocks in at around 30 minutes, making this a very easy and enjoyable binge any time.

2. MeatEater

3 seasons, 29 episodes | IMDb: 7.8/10

This is probably the most interesting and unique travel (and food) show on this list. Steve Rinella’s MeatEater might be the best nature-meets-travel-meets-food show, full stop. Rinella and his crew travel around the U.S., Mexico, and even parts of South America to embrace nature in the most visceral way, through hunting and fishing for their own food and then cooking that food, providing us with wild recipes to boot. We’re not kidding when we say that the wild places this show goes are the places you almost never see on the average travel show, which is usually obsessed with hitting the same old spots over and over again (looking at you Rosenthal and Chang).

Yes, hunting or fishing for food is the core of each trip. Still, with sourcing your own wild food being one of the fastest-growing food movements in America (far outpacing veganism with people under 40), MeatEater offers real-world advice as an entry-point to the wild spaces of the world and the food available therein. It’s also about the people around the world who live their lives in harmony with nature. Add in the beautiful cinematography (from the same crew as Bourdain’s shows) and you have a great watch.

1. Down to Earth with Zac Efron

1 season, 8 episodes | IMDb: 8.1/10

This show was the sleeper hit of the travel TV world in 2020. Yes, it premiered during a pandemic when we can’t travel, making it an easy hit. But the show really has some serious heart and insight. Viewing the world through Zac Efron’s always wide-eyes proved really refreshing. His excitement to be seeing the world and trying on new ideas while also making an effort to step out of the most well-worn paths made for solid TV.

There’s a real soul to this show that gets to what’s beautiful about travel. It captures the spirit of wanderlust — learning about the world while learning about yourself.

With a library as vast as Netflix has, it's hard to pick out the best Netflix travel shows, but we're here to help you with that. 

Of course, it's ironic that just as the world opens up again post-pandemic, the cost of living has sky-rocketed. We guess that means putting off that week by the beach in Barcelona once again. Sigh. 

Still, there’s always armchair travel…no, stay with us! Netflix has a stellar supply of shows to watch for those suffering from a bad case of wanderlust; from food-focused odysseys and challenge-based travels to light-hearted looks at other global cultures with some incredible scenery providing the backdrop.

Whether it’s European mini-breaks or South-East Asian vacations that get you dreaming of far-off places, here’s 10 of the best to inspire your next travels. Just think of them as extra research for that bucket list trip...

Ugly Delicious

A fast-paced travelogue fusing food and travel together - well, why mess with a classic combination? - sees David Chang, boss of noodle giant Momofuku, weigh in on all the most important food items and how different cultures across the globe make them. 

Obviously, that means pizza from Italy, but an elevated slice of the pie in Tokyo; tacos from a celebrated food truck in LA, but a twist on the traditional in Mexico from Noma restaurant. Good travel series push the imagination and our world views and this certainly gives us our fill. 

Waffles + Mochi

On the face of it, this is cute show for kids, which is executive-produced by and stars Michelle Obama, no less, but it's actually one of the best examples of a series doing the double by being both entertaining for children and adults. 

A show based around a moon boot-wearing creature made from frozen waffles and mochi ball made sentient might not make any sense whatsoever, but who cares when it’s this joyous? The two puppet buddies - who work at a supermarket, alongside Ms. Obama - learn about different foods, and travel the world doing it; from whizzing up high in the Andes to try potatoes to searching out the best herbs and spices from a market in Venice, Italy. 

The bromance of South Korean singer-actor Lee Seung-gi and Taiwanese favourite Jasper Liu is at the heart of this 2020 series; as the pair are challenged by fans to missions across Asia, despite speaking different languages. Challenge accepted! 

Taking in stunning locations across Indonesia, Thailand and Nepal the duo prove they’re more than just handsome faces as they triumph in treasure hunts and games like rock, paper, scissors to end up in the final destination of Seoul. Kind of like Squid Game, on the road, but without all the death.   

The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals

If your thumbs idly end up scrolling the Airbnb app in your down time; then this is the show for you. Three intrepid explorers - okay, hosts with seemingly unlimited expense accounts - travel the world to find the best places to rest your head on holiday. It’s not all luxury cabins on stilts in the Maldives though, as the series prides itself on catering for all budgets and all tastes. 

Top of our wishlist is the Area 55 prefab Futuro glamping pod ($225 a night), or the glass-domed eco-lodge - complete with sauna - in the heart of a Finnish winter wonderland (a casual $500 per night). Time to get saving.  

Down To Earth With Zac Efron

Zac Efron, you say? Tween heartthrob from High School Musical, Zac Efron? Yep, but he’s now the poster boy for sustainable travel, segueing into an unexpected career choice back in 2020's Down To Earth With Zac Efron. 

With big bro-on-a-gap-year energy, Zac travels to places like Iceland, Sardinia, Peru and the Amazon to learn about eco-living and renewable energy, which is much more interesting than it initially sounds, and is arguably the way we should all be thinking about travelling now.  

Big Narstie's Big Jamaica

“Man’s off on a mission to the motherland: Jamaica,” the big-selling rapper Big Narstie informs us at the beginning of this 2020 travel doc, and we’re honoured to be able to join him. Both the rapper’s parents hail from Jamaica, and he jets off home again with a candid and witty look into dancehall culture and the food scene. 

Cut to some incredible looking munchies: a mix of Jamaican and Chinese food from the Jamaican equivalent of a “motorway caff”. “My belly comes first!” Narstie says. Naturally.  

Travels With My Father

Like him or loathe him, there’s something quite enjoyable about Jack Whitehall travelling the world with his cantankerous old dad who “hates being away from home”. 

The father-and-son duo take on places like Thailand, Romania and Australia over five series, and even if you fall on the side of ‘loathe’ it’s always amusing watching Jack get cut down to size by his no-nonsense father, sorry, “Daddy”. Very much playing up to the ‘posh Brits on tour’ stereotype, this sometimes definitely scripted series won’t do much for our nation’s reputation around the world, but it does make for a fun watch. 

There’s light-entertainment travel japes like the Whitehall family’s adventures above: then there’s death-defying expeditions that could only be described as extreme holidaying. 14 Peaks is definitely the latter, as it follows British-Nepalese high-altitude climber, Nirmal Purja, as he tries to ascend all of the world’s 14 8,000-feet high mountains within seven months. 

Hiking up insanely dangerous summits - that require oxygen masks after 7,500 feet - across China, Pakistan and Nepal, this documentary also tracks the heady heights of human endurance. Does he manage what he sets out to achieve? Well, we’ll leave that up to you to find out.    

Expedition Happiness

A hipster German couple decide to sack off Berlin and take up #vanlife instead in this self-filmed documentary. Mogli - aka Selima - and her boyfriend Felix (who previously filmed himself cycling around the world for the Netflix doc Pedal The World) buy an old American school bus for $9,500, convert it into the most bijoux of apartments-on-wheels and as they plan to travel from Alaska to Argentina. 

After a hairy moment when it looks like US immigration won’t give them a visa, soon they’re on the road, travelling through gorgeous mountain vistas and turquoise lakes and the pretty, colourful small towns of Mexico. There are mishaps along the way - and they have to divert their trip at the last moment - but it’s nice to be along for the ride. 

Dark Tourist

 Still gutted you can’t hop on a plane to paradise right now? Honestly, watching this show you might well be glad your bum has made a permanent imprint on your sofa. 

The host, Kiwi journalist David Farrier, explores the dark underside of tourism; from border crossing re-enactments in Mexico and Manson family murder tours to a visit to the still highly radioactive Fukushima nuclear power plant and - disturbingly - being shown the latest military weapons in Phnom Penh. Perhaps another staycation isn’t so bad after all...

Netflix’s New Series "The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals" Is Giving Us the Travel Inspiration We Need

Below, House Beautiful details everything you need to know about five of the properties, including ones in Georgia, Indonesia, Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii—along with insight from each of the hosts. Alpaca Treehouse, Atlanta, Georgia

The Alpaca Treehouse in Atlanta, Georgia is one of few properties in The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals that’s located in the United States. “You never would expect a fully shrouded treehouse in a forest of bamboo would ever exist just a few minutes from downtown Atlanta, but it does," co-host Megan Batoon tells House Beautiful. "With alpacas and llamas walking around as you’re eating your breakfast, you don’t have to go far to experience something wild and surprising.”

Fellow co-host Jo Franco reveals that “the host of this property, Kara, built everything, from the actual treehouse, to the alpaca and llama sanctuary, in the spirit of repurposing. She reclaimed all of the materials used to make the treehouse from thrift stores, giving the rental a funky energy filled with history and stories to tell.”

Additionally, Kara rescued the animals that roam the grounds. “They're now living their best lives on this farm that doubles as the front yard for guests of the treehouse, eating as many carrots as they're fed—pack more just in case," advises Franco.

Butterfly Camaya Bali, Bali, Indonesia

“If heaven is made out of bamboo, it's the Butterfly Camaya Bali ,” Franco tells us. “The entire stay made me feel like I was a princess in a Balinese fairy tale. Plus, getting to put my feet in the actual mud of the rice terraces and stumbling upon a pond with hundreds of rose petals connected me to the land in a way I'll never forget.”

Batoon was also smitten with this property: “Probably the most visually and aesthetically impressive stay on the show in my opinion would be Butterfly Camaya," she says. "From acres of verdant plants, to flower petal baths, and dreamy bamboo architecture, this place had it all for a design-obsessed traveler or anyone looking for a dream-worthy stay with a backdrop of beauty.”

Quetzalcoatl’s Nest, Naucalpan de Juárez, Mexico

Located in Naucalpan de Juárez, Mexico, Quetzalcoatl’s Nest is a futuristic design haven like no other. Luis D. Ortiz tells House Beautiful that “this was one of my favorite properties because we lived inside of somebody's work of art that went beyond just a home.” Franco adds that this space looks as if “Tim Burton, Salvator Dalí, and Willy Wonka went into an architectural collaboration.”

This structure was designed by Mexican architect Javier Senosiain, who “took on the project after other developers gave up on building in such tricky terrain,” reveals Franco. “Not only did he succeed, but his solution to working with nature—and celebrating it—makes him a genius, in my opinion,” the co-host adds. “The snake house is without a doubt much more than just the house. From the mosaic gates welcoming you into your movie-like stay, to walking down the steps and entering the mouth of a snake that decorates the entrance of a natural cave, it's hard to believe you're still on planet earth.”

By renting this property, you will also be granted access to “acres and acres of a perfectly manicured landscape, a greenhouse, and art installations scattered around the grounds," adds Franco.

Sitka Lighthouse, Sitka, Alaska

If you’re the resident chef amongst your friends, the Sitka Lighthouse in Sitka, Alaska might just be the rental property of your dreams, as it offers “one of the coolest culinary experiences,” says Batoon. “The hosts have commercial fishing boat connections and had fresh King Salmon delivered straight to the lighthouse that I cooked for dinner—try and compete with that, Postmates!”

For Franco, this lighthouse boasts a special connection that ties back to some years ago. “Years ago, I was reading a travel magazine on a plane and saw this cheeky red and white lighthouse engulfed by a sea of fog on its own island somewhere in Alaska.” She adds, “The photo stuck out in my mind, and my gut said, "I'm going to go there one day." I just had no idea it would be while filming a Netflix show about the world's best places to stay on vacation.”

Fortunately, the co-host says the Sitka Lighthouse did not disappoint her anticipation. “By the end of the trip, after eating King Salmon from a commercial fishing boat, soaking in a hot tub while spotting sea lions, and running around the top of our own lighthouse for the night, [fellow co-hosts] Megan and Luis were convinced the Sitka Lighthouse gave other private islands a run for their money.”

Hale 'Ae Kai, Kauai, Hawaii

Traveling to Hawaii is certainly a common bucket list adventure (with good reason!), and Kauai’s Hale ‘Ae Kai is definitely a spot you’re going to want to stay at while checking this state off of your list. Ortiz says this spot is one of “of the best waterfront views you’ll feel more than see,” while Franco shares it’s “one of the most luxurious of luxury stays.”

Hale ‘Ae Kai was actually the first property filmed for The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals , and Batoon reveals she remembers “running over to Jo’s cabin after wrapping for the day and we laid outside in the warm Hawaii night sky and I saw my first shooting star. It was a perfect start to this entire experience.”

Franco adds, “We'd be outdoors most of the day because the property is designed to include and embrace nature—the outside blends with the inside, giving you the ultimate vacation feeling.”

This property is a bit costly, so Franco says “if you ever get a chance to wrangle together enough people to pay $14,000 a night for this luxury experience on steroids, I promise, you won't forget it.”

WATCH: This New Netflix Series Takes You Inside the World's Most Amazing Vacation Home Rentals

"This experience opened my eyes to all of the gems around the world and showed me that the stay could be the destination," Megan Batoon, one of the show's three hosts, tells PEOPLE exclusively

Dreaming of getting back out there and exploring the world again? A new Netflix travel show might just be the inspiration you need!

The World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals , premiering on the streaming service on June 18, takes viewers inside some of the wildest homes that are available to rent around the world. Think: the best of the best on Airbnb , Vrbo and more.

The trailer for the show, above, dropped Wednesday morning and gives viewers a peek at the adventures that await as the three hosts, Million Dollar Listing New York 's Luis D. Ortiz and content creators Megan Batoon and Jo Franco, bounce around between affordable treehouses, exclusive private islands, gourmet food-focused getaways and so much more.

"Prior to filming the show, when I traveled for work, I only stayed in hotels," Batoon, who also hosts the comedy podcast Just a Tip with Megan Batoon , tells PEOPLE exclusively. "This experience opened my eyes to all of the gems around the world and showed me that the stay could be the destination."

She adds: "All three hosts are so different, and it was such a pleasure to not only see the world, but see it in three distinct ways through each of our eyes."

In addition to the properties themselves, the show will also focus on the different experiences that the vacation rentals offer — from high-thrill activities to unique transportation to interacting with the locals — that you may not get at a traditional hotel.

"The beauty about staying in our vacation rentals is that it's not just about the house, it's about what you get access to by staying in the house," Franco, who is the CEO of Shut Up and Go, an online community of travelers, explains in the trailer.

The hosts also aim to show viewers the options that are available at every budget — while also giving a peek at the most luxurious stays out there, because sometimes it's fun to dream!

Be sure to watch through the trailer to see the most "extra" splurge that Ortiz, who knows the life of luxury from his work as a real estate agent, surprises his other costars with.

The World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals premieres on Netflix on Friday, June 18.

Taste the Nation

With international travel largely on hold, there's no better time to explore our own backyard—which is exactly what host Padma Lakshmi did on her new Hulu show Taste the Nation . The show's first season, released in June, follows the Top Chef host and author as she quite literally tastes the nation , stopping at restaurants around the U.S. to sample the foods of a variety of Indigenous and immigrant groups. Expect to see some familiar faces, like comedian Ali Wong and spearfisher Kimi Werner , along the way.

Planet Earth and Planet Earth II

We had to wait 10 years between the debut of Planet Earth , a groundbreaking natural history show narrated by Sir David Attenborough, and its sequel Planet Earth II , but it was worth it. The first season, which focus on a specific biome and the flora and fauna that live there in each episode, spotlights smooth coated otters in Southeast Asia, Tibetan foxes, critically endangered Ethiopian ibex, and blue whales, among so many others. Our two favorite episodes, though, come from part II. In the sixth episode, the high-def cameras turn to cities to show how leopards in Mumbai, monkeys in Jodhpur, and catfish in southern France live alongside humans. And in what may be the most heart-racing episode of nature television, the islands episode of Planet Earth II follows a lone iguana racing against time—and a horde of snakes.

Long Way Up

Believe it or not, actor Ewan McGregor has been in the travel show business for some 16 years. It all started with Long Way Round , a 2004 series that followed McGregor and his friend Charley Boorman on a motorcycle journey from London through Europe, Asia—and then after a flight to Alaska—Canada, and the U.S. all the way to New York City. The show was followed by 2007's Long Way Down, which took the duo from Scotland to South Africa, on motorcycles once again. Now, they've turned their bikes (electric this time) towards South and Central America, with the latest iteration following the duo some 13,000 miles from Ushuaia, Argentina, on the continent's southernmost tip, to L.A. As usual, hijinks, pitfalls, and stunning scenery are all on view. Neither of the earlier shows are available to stream in the U.S. currently (though you can find them on Apple TV+ in the U.K.), but Long Way Up is an Apple TV+ original and on view for all.

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat

Be sure to watch this show on a full stomach, or you'll be pausing to bake focaccia or cook tahdig along with affable host and Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat cookbook author Samin Nosrat. In the four-part show, Nosrat travels the world, making stops in Mexico, Japan, Italy, and her home in California, to discover the properties of each of the show's title elements. There's cheese. There's olive oil. There's miso. There are tortillas. There's salsa. And just like that we're hungry again. If you're familiar with Anthony Bourdian's The Layover, then the premise of British comedian Richard Ayoade's Travel Man will seem quite familiar. The goofy show follows the comic and primarily English celebrity friends as they galavant around cities like Helsinki, Miami, and Hong Kong over the course of 48 hours. If you're a Great British Bake Off fan, start with Ayoade's trip to Paris with original GBBO host Mel Giedroyc or the season two episode featuring current host Noel Fielding in Copenhagen . Other familiar faces include Paul Rudd in Helsinki and Bridesmaids' Chris O'Dowd in Vienna.

Somebody Feed Phil

This Netflix original follows host Phil Rosenthal, the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond , as he eats his way through cities like Bangkok , Lisbon, Mexico City , New Orleans ,   Buenos Aires , Cape Town, and Dublin. The hyper-positive show was called "impossibly optimistic," by former Traveler editor Paul Brady, who spoke with Rosenthal before the first season's premiere in 2018. Parts Unknown

You simply cannot have a list of the best travel shows and not feature the late Anthony Bourdain. In fact, he's on our list more than once. In Parts Unknown , the chef and travel personality circled the world many times over, in search of music, culture, humor, history, and—of course—really good food. Over 12 seasons (the last aired posthumously), Bourdain visited the indigenous Andes with Eric Ripert, the Sochi Winter Olympics, the Mississippi Delta, and, most famously, Hanoi with then-president Barack Obama. (That's season eight, episode two, if you want to jump right to it.)

Technically, Netflix's original show Connected is a science show, but that doesn't mean it isn't filled with travel. Plus, host Latif Nasser told us earlier this year that the show was built in the footsteps of Bourdain's Parts Unknown and No Reservations (with a dash of Bill Nye thrown inn). The show speaks to how the world is interconnected—like how Delaware's birds can offer clues about the Gulf's hurricane season or how sand from the Sahara impacts the Amazon. Throughout, you'll follow Nasser as he hopscotches around the world to speak with scientists to find out more.

Street Food

Made by the same folks behind Chef's Table (spoiler: it's also on this list), this show moves away from formal restaurant kitchens and onto the streets, for a guide to some of the world's best curbside meals and snacks . The show's first season is all about Asia, traveling to nine different countries to meet the people behind the food, like Jay Fai from Bangkok's Raan Jay Fai , a Michelin-starred street stall serving up tom yum soup, and Truoc (pictured left), who serves a variety of snail dishes in Ho Chi Minh City . The second season, which hit Netflix in July, zeroes in on Latin America, with stops at Doña Vale's in Oaxaca for memelas and Las Chicas de las Tres food stall in Buenos Aires, run by chef Pato Rodriguez. 

Lost Cities With Albert Lin

In this National Geographic –produced show, explorer and scientist Albert Lin tracks down some of the world's most famous lost cities. We're talking buried Knights Templar caves in Israel, El Dorado in the jungles of Colombia, and ancient, forgotten island cities in Micronesia. Along the way, he speaks with archaeologists, historians, and other experts to discover the origins of the legends and, in turn, the reality of those places today.

Ugly Delicious

The second season of the David Chang –hosted Netflix series debuted in March 2020, taking viewers from Istanbul (pictured), to Tokyo , to Sydney , to… Outback Steakhouse? Along the way, he tackles balancing parenthood with restaurant life, cooks with Top Chef 's Padma Lakshmi , rubs elbows with comedians like Nick Kroll and Aziz Ansari, and gets a lesson in not calling all Indian food curries from Traveler contributor Priya Krishna . (If you want more Chang, try your hand at a recipe from his Momofuku cookbook, or watch Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner , also on Netlfix, where he joins one famous friend on a food tour of a city, like Chrissy Teigen in Marrakech.) 

Produced by Vice , this show is about the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. In it, actor Elliot Page and their film director friend Ian Daniel travel to learn about what it's like to be LGBTQ+ around the world. They meet with two-spirit Native Americans, head to ballroom scenes in New York City, and visit the gay bars of Tokyo to dive deep into the vibrant gay and queer culture. But the duo also spends time in Rio de Janeiro, Jamaica, and Ukraine, speaking with LGBTQ+ locals to learn about the discrimination and threats they face just by existing. Expect tears, both happy and sad. 

Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted

Gordon Ramsey is involved, so of course this cooking and travel show is extreme. In the National Geographic –produced series, the Hell's Kitchen chef goes out of his element—and out of the kitchen—to learn cooking tips and tricks from locals in unusual locales, culminating in a cook-off of sorts to show off what he's picked up. Here, he heads to Peru's Sacred Valley to learn high altitude cooking, cooks seal with a Tlingit elder in Alaska , and learns about Berber food culture in Morocco. 

Carmen Sandiego

Many of us got our first lesson in geography from this trench coat–wearing master thief, and today's kids can too, thanks to the Netflix reboot of this animated series. This high-flying, Robin Hood–style caper takes kids (and parents) with Sandiego as she jet sets between Rio de Janeiro , Matsumoto in Japan, Amsterdam, Mumbai, and more. There are three seasons available and plenty of educational value here for mapheads—plus pretty stellar animation. This year, an interactive choose-you-own-adventure style show, called Carmen Sandiego: To Steal or Not to Steal, came to Netflix and provides endless entertainment as Sandiego fights off the Villains International League of Evil (V.I.L.E.), with your (kid's) help. If Planet Earth and Planet Earth II weren't enough Attenborough for your liking, get your fix on Netflix, thanks to Our Planet . This docuseries, made by the creators of Planet Earth in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund and narrated by Attenborough, is almost a mix of the two, taking armchair travelers from the North American grasslands and the Everglades to the Arctic tundra and deepest parts of our oceans. No Reservations

If you want even more Bourdain, Hulu has you covered with No Reservations and The Layover, two of his travel shows that preceded Parts Unknown . In No Reservations, Bourdain takes us to both familiar—Maine, Prague, the Philippines—and unfamiliar—Kurdistan, Mozambique, and deep into the Amazon—corners and kitchens of our world, introducing us to new foods, cultures, and personalities over nine seasons. The Layover takes that same premise, but shortens the time line drastically, knocking down Bourdain's time to explore to just 24 to 48 hours. Both are must-sees—it's Bourdain after all. 

Chef's Table: BBQ

While you can watch some of world’s most extraordinary chefs (like Dominque Crenn ; Peruvian Virgilio Martínez , the owner of Lima's Central restaurant; and Swede Magnus Nilsson ) as they create impossibly complicated dishes in the original Chef's Table, we've become partial to its latest iteration, which is all about barbecue. The Netflix original docuseries follows pitmasters like Tootsie Tomanetz—the 85-year-old spitfire pictured above who minds the brisket and sausage at Snow's, outside of Austin—and Rodney Scott, known for his Low Country–style pulled pork and ribs. But the show doesn't stick to the American South. Travels with My Father

The first season of this Netflix original, which came out in 2017, follows British stand-up comedian Jack Whitehall and his father, Michael, across Southeast Asia, tracking the duo as they finish the gap year Jack never got to complete, just a few years late (eight, to be exact). It's everything you'd expect: a Thai full moon party and, of course, a trip to Cambodia's Angkor Wat, but the moments in between are what make the show really worth watching. Now, in the three seasons that have followed, the father-son pair have road tripped through Transylvania , visited Chernobyl , and gotten into drag with Sydney queens. Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories

Set in a tiny Tokyo diner that's only open from midnight to 7 a.m., the fictional show follows the Midnight Diner's owner and clientele as they share their trials and joys, all while eating whatever the owner, called Master, dishes up. In the diner, pork miso soup is the go-to, but Master will cook visitors anything they order, as long as he's got the goods to make it. Episodes are a little over 20 minutes long, so it's the most bingeable of the bunch. Watch with subtitles and don't—seriously, don't—watch while hungry. Get your international fix by watching Antoni , Karamo , Jonathan , Tan , and Bobby makeover the wardrobes and lives of everyday “heroes” in Yass, Australia , and Tokyo in their Queer Eye specials. That said, we're partial to the U.S.-based seasons, where the Fab Five hits up Atlanta, Kansas City, and, most recently, Philadelphia to give new life to regular folks. For many years, Samantha Brown was the only female host on travel TV , period. And while some, albeit small, growth has been made in this regard (Nosrat and Kellee Edwards are among the new faces), Brown is still one of the few women on the go on our screens. While she made her start on the Travel Channel with Passport to Europe, Passport to Latin America, and Passport to China , you should really be checking out her latest show, Places to Love. Now in its third season, the show sees Brown discovering off-the-beaten-path spots in some of the world's most loved destinations as far-flung as Seoul and Auckland, and right in our backyard, like Phoenix and Dallas .

The World According to Jeff Goldblum

Ok, so this isn't as much of a travel show as it is a “what is Jeff Goldblum curious about” show—but it doesn't mean they don't travel all over the U.S. With each episode focusing on the actor's ceaseless interest in the minutiae of one specific thing (like tattoos, or pools, or RVs, or ice cream—it really runs the gamut). Two men follow a competition to create a portable hotel in the wilderness consisting of eight cabins, each with its style and décor.

Competition rounds are based on themes, such as the battle of the dragon where a cabin built to look like the eye of the dragon competes against one that looks like a dragon’s claw.

Cabin designs are creative and watching the show will inspire you to pack your bags and head out into the wilderness.

A luxurious cabin inspired by a Welsh coal pit fights it out with a contemporary slate cabin. Other fantastic creations are a cabin inspired by the legend of King Arthur and a double-storey tepee.

The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals helps viewers discover unique vacation rentals covering a wide range of budgets.

The show highlights unique options such as a treehouse in Atlanta, a cabin in Hawaii with its own waterfall and a snake-shaped apartment in Mexico City.

There are plenty of luxury escapes to swoon over and some amazing experiences, such as waking up in a bed of marshmallow pillows in a room that costs $15,000 a night and sleeping in a bamboo pod in Bali.

From a private Bahamas island to the Yellow Ferry, which is the oldest surviving wooden ferry on the West Coast, to a cave in the Ozark Mountains, this travel show will wow you with a world of delightful accommodation choices.

Instant Hotel is a reality show where teams of Australian homeowners stay in one another’s rentals and rate their experiences.

Each team and a judge scores each other based on a set of criteria including the property, location, attractions, value and a good night’s sleep.

The highest-scoring team moves to the Grand Final, and the prizes are impressive, such as $100,000 in cash and a stay at a Californian Instant Hotel.

Travel Man follows the comic and his British celebrity guests as they explore cities like Hong Kong, Helsinki and Miami.

The Mole (2022 revival)

Avid reality show obsessives hold a special place in their heart for The Mole , which aired for five seasons on ABC in the 2000s and gained a cult following. Netflix revived the reality competition after 14 years, while keeping the same general format: A group of contestants competes in a series of challenges, with success leading to more money for the group pot. Among them, however, is a mole chosen by production to sabotage these challenges while trying to stay undetected. All players are then quizzed on who they think the mole may be, with the lowest-performing contestant eliminated at the end of every episode. The fun of The Mole is in putting yourself in the contestants' shoes; like them (well, all but one of them), the audience is not informed of who the mole actually is until the very end. Nailed It! Mexico , Nailed It! Holiday , Nailed It! France ... spinoffs galore only means one thing: This show is tasty! Comedian Nicole Byer hosts the original Nailed It! , a show that transports amateur bakers from their home kitchens to a TV studio, where they attempt (and often fail) to replicate professional desserts for a grand prize of $10,000. Old Enough! (1990–present)

Do not scroll past this Netflix show and definitely do not be deterred by the subtitles (most of us leave the closed captioning on anyway, right?). Old Enough! is a long-running Japanese television show, now available in the U.S. (two seasons are on Netflix), that follows Japanese children ages 2 to 5 as they run their first errands... solo! Every task serves up adorableness in droves as these tiny humans navigate adult chores alone for the first time, such as traveling to the store to purchase flowers for grandma, or running home from the fruit fields to make juice for mom. Whether they get distracted along the way or complete the task without a hitch, you'll be grinning from ear to ear. — E.S.

Queer Eye (2018–present)

A revamp of the early 2000s hit Queer Eye for the Straight Guy , Netflix's Queer Eye crew burst on the scene in 2018 with a mission to change the lives of everyday people. Since its debut, they've done just that, and along the way, changed hearts and minds as well. Hair stylist Jonathan Van Ness , counselor Karamo Brown , chef Antoni Porowski , interior designer Bobby Berk , and fashion expert Tan France are the fairy godparents dreams are made of. Each brings their unique charm and encouragement to every encounter as they transform lives from the inside out. Season 8 —  Berk's last as part of the Fab Five — is set in New Orleans. — E.S.

Selling Sunset (2019–present)

If tiny homes and #vanlife are the way of the future, the stars of Selling Sunset did not get the memo. The show follows premier real estate agents of the Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles as they battle through absurd home deals and all the drama that comes with them. From the creators of The Hills , Selling Sunset provides viewers with romance, petty drama, luxurious homes, and a game of trying to remember which Oppenheim twin is which. There are seven seasons to binge (the most recent having dropped in November), as well as a spinoff series Selling Tampa , also on Netflix. — E.S.

Snowflake Mountain (2022–present)

The term "snowflake" has been weaponized against progressives by conservatives who see them (specifically the younger generation) as whiny and entitled with no life skills. Snowflake Mountain gathers a group of contestants who (at surface level) appear to fit this brand. They live at home with their parents, boast luxurious lifestyles, and live the "kidult" life with no qualms. The 10 contestants selected for the show believe they're on a journey to a luxury villa, but instead get dumped on the British countryside. There, they are forced to compete in wilderness survival tasks in order to remain on the show and win the grand prize of $50,000. Along the way, the hope is for them to gain the life skills they need to get out of their parents' basements (even if it's a mansion basement). The contestants and their tough-love mentors grow and change as each episode progresses, supporting, encouraging and offering a shoulder to cry on. Will all of these "kidults" return to the real world with a new lease on life? Gotta tune in to find out. — E.S.

Somebody Feed Phil (2018–present)

There are numerous reality shows in which the host invites the viewer on a culinary trip around the world, but few hosts are quite as enthusiastic as Phil Rosenthal . The Emmy-winning creator of Everybody Loves Raymond brings his foodie passion to a new city each episode, from Bangkok to Venice to New York City. Through locals sharing their cuisines with the affable host, he forges cross-cultural connections, while also making his fair share of dad jokes along the way. While you won't find all 45+ seasons of Survivor on Netflix, the streaming giant does offer a sampling for your viewing pleasure. The long-running reality competition staple strands anywhere from 16 to 20 people in a deserted location, where they must fend for themselves, work together, and vote each other out until only one remains. The gold standard of cooking reality series has lasted on the air as long as it has for a reason. Top Chef has all the right ingredients, from the healthy competition between its "cheftestants" to the format itself. Each week, the chefs make dishes for the Quickfire Challenge, with the winner granted immunity or an advantage, followed by the Elimination Challenge, where contestants must prepare the best dish possible within a certain theme, after which the judges eliminate the worst-performing contestant. The Ultimatum: Queer Love (2023–present)

This spinoff of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On centers exclusively on women and nonbinary couples across the queer spectrum. As with the original series, The Ultimatum: Queer Love features one half of the couple wanting to take the next step by getting engaged, while the other is uncertain, and puts their love to the test. They come together with four other couples in a house where each has to choose a new partner for three weeks, after which each person decides whether to go back to their original partner or continue with their new one. Wipeout (2008–2014)

Who among us hasn't desired some lowest common denominator, no-thoughts-head-empty entertainment after a hard day's work? Wipeout more than delivers on delighting our baser instincts, and its self-aware ridiculousness makes it all the more fun. Each episode features a group of willing contestants trying (and often failing) to navigate a series of obstacle courses, from bouncing on giant red balls to trying not to get sucker punched by mechanical boxing gloves. But before you gloss over this show, it helps to note that apart from improving the menu and assisting the owners with the assistance of a world-class restaurateur, chef, and designer, the show also puts great emphasis on the location in turning things around. With that said, you’ll definitely find a good focus on the location’s culture and specialties.

» Ugly Delicious

“All the flavor. None of the BS. Star chef David Chang leads friends on a mouthwatering, cross-cultural hunt for the world’s most satisfying grub.”

Unlike what the title says, not every dish is actually ugly; but, you will love Chang’s unpretentious take on things as he travels and eats to places that will leave your mouth watering. With that said, this is yet another travel personality that has one of the best travel shows centering around food — if not life in general.

» Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father

“Comic Jack Whitehall and his father, Michael, are like an odd couple — the son is jovial and the patriarch is stuffy. So traveling together makes for an interesting dynamic, as viewers experience in this travelogue series.”

Watching this show was like watching myself traveling with my parents; but with more comedy and more mishaps. As one of the best travel shows on Netflix, it really makes for a hilarious watch not only with your family but even with your friends!

» The Kindness Diaries

The Best Reality TV Shows on Netflix

There’s nothing that I love more than rotting at home and binging shows , as the world spins madly on. Also, if you just sang this song by The Weepies, then call me, because I love you. Despite my lack of focus, let me help you learn my ways. You see, I’m a Bravo fan at heart, but I currently have a side piece named Mr. Netflix , and he’s fantastic.

Seriously, Netflix’s Reality TV department is on point. I’ll steer you all towards my top selections found over there now. Keep in mind though that my choices are all pretty varied because I like a lot of different things. But also, I have children who often join me in my Netflix cocoon, and I support their fire choices.

The Devil’s Plan

There’s only one season of The Devil’s Plan on Netflix, but a Season 2 is confirmed. Despite it’s singular showing, this Korean game show is still a binge-worthy series. There are 12 episodes, each running a bit over an hour. Therefore, you can easily sink hard into your sofas, making it impossible to know where you begin, and your couch’s fabric ends.

As for the premise, 12 contestants live together for a week. There’s crying, social aspects, math, a jail, crying, games, “death matches,” booted-off contestants, and also crying. As for the title, the contestants have a “devil” of a choice to make when deciding to either choose their own “Individual Interests” or a “Common Interest.” If you’re confused, just go ahead and Ramyeon mokugaleo (that’s Korean for Netflix and chill).

I’m so mad that I didn’t invent the concept of Nailed It! Here’s the thing that all of us probably have in common. We all want to be epic parents, friends, neighbors, and/or humans, right? Because of this, whenever an event arises, we turn to the pros, like Pinterest, looking for ideas.

Then, after finding the most stunning thing imaginable, we all think “I could do that.” But when we “do that,” everything goes to hell. Cue seven hysterical, relatable, family-friendly seasons of Nailed It! on Netflix.

Love on the Spectrum

My friends, representation and diversity matter . Whether it’s race, gender, sexual orientation, varying abilities, or religious viewpoints, we need broader perspectives on our screens. Love on the Spectrum does this, with two wholesome seasons already uploaded on Netflix.

In this series, adults on the autism spectrum navigate the complex world of dating. They are joined by their families, and also an incredibly supportive production team, who often break the fourth wall to guide their stars. The Great British Bake Off

You can lose an entire week watching The Great British Bake Off. There are 14 bingeable seasons, with additional specials for the holidays, and also a few charity fundraisers on the side. I cannot explain why, but I love listening to these kindhearted Brits while watching their dishes come to life in a tent. If you think that this sounds lame, then you can (kindly) sod off.

Dubai Bling

Dubai Bling Season 2 just dropped on Netflix earlier this year, and if you like Real Housewives of Dubai , you’ll love this similar series. While RHODubai focuses on housewives, Dubai Bling tends to focus on high-profile business people, each living an insanely glamorous, make-you-feel-poor lifestyle. No worries though, as they are all still equally catty and messy. In addition, their families often appear on-air as well, so there’s a lot of backstory given, which will help you to fully connect with each of these cast members.

Tidying Up with Marie Kondo

An organized life translates to an organized mind. Insert Tidying Up with Marie Kondo , who helps her guests decide what to keep, and what to toss. After watching the one season that Netflix has to offer, I went through my belongings and donated the things that didn’t “spark joy.” Afterward, I felt like I could breathe easier, which made me realize that this Marie Kondo chick was onto something.

Old Enough!

My children are obsessed with Old Enough! , which I get because this series on Netflix is beyond hysterical and precious. In this, very young children, aged roughly 2-5, are sent on errands by themselves, while a camera crew follows along. They do everything from shopping for their family’s meals, to visiting shrines and delivering items. There are two seasons of Old Enough! streaming right now, so go check it out if you need a good chuckle.

Floor Is Lava

Speaking of things my children adore, meet the Floor Is Lava series. There are three seasons on Netflix so far, and it’s exactly what you’d expect. Contestants have to traverse their way through an obstacle course, where one wrong move could send them spiraling down into the pit of lava just beneath their feet. After watching this though, don’t be surprised if your household tries to set up their own courses, with a side of godspeed to your nice lamps.

The Circle Season 6 has arrived on Netflix, and it looks like it’ll be a good one . In this series, a handful of players move into separate apartments, all located within the same building. They only communicate via an app, but some of the contestants are lying about who they say they are. After lots of rankings, only one cast member is left standing, receiving a cash prize in turn.

Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Fight For Paradise: Who Can You Trust?’ on Netflix, A German Reality Competition That’s Like ‘Survivor’ Meets ‘The Traitors’

It seems strange that Netflix would release two reality competition shows with virtually the same exact premise in the same week. The German series Fight For Paradise: Who Can You Trust? drops a group of beautiful, luxury-loving people into a jungle and forces them to form alliances and go into survival mode in order to win a big prize. It’s almost the same show as last week’s French release Don’t Hate The Player , and while they’re both entertaining, just one would have been enough.

FIGHT FOR PARADISE: WHO CAN YOU TRUST? : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

Opening Shot: A group of sexy, glamorous contestants are shown on yachts, toasting champagne, and saying things like “Money! Money! Money!” as an announcer explains that this group will be competing against each other for 100,00 euros. Oh, and one more things, the announcer declares: “They believe they will be living in luxury. They’re wrong about that.”

The Gist: Netflix has released two competitions shows based on the same rules within the same week, the French series Don’t Hate The Player, and this German show, Fight For Paradise . The premise of both is the same: a group of 20-somethings is dropped on a tropical island without knowing the premise of the show they’re taking part in. At first, they’re brought to a waterfront mansion where they get to know one another, toast some Champagne, and begin to form friendships…seeing them all assembled together drinking and dancing in their club wear is like an Ibiza fever dream. But the dream will become a nightmare because after a few short hours, the host, model-actress Bonnie Strange, tells them that they’re not going to be living in luxury after all, they’re being relocated to a beachside camp with no electricity, a bunch of cots, and no hot water.

From there, they will have to engage in a series of challenges and votes that will determine who will remain an “outsider” – literally, a contestant forced to remain outside, and who gets to be an “insider,” one of the lucky ones who is allowed to sleep in the villa. The last remaining contestant in the villa at the end of the season will win the big prize of €100,000.

On the first day, the contestants are told that they are each allowed to vote for one person who will get to sleep in the villa that night. This is where the strategic campaigning begins – one player, Eleyna, casually starts mentioning she has her period and really could use a shower, trying to elicit sympathy from her male competitors. In a confessional, we see her smile a devilish smile after this happens, and it’s clear that her strategy is to make these guys uncomfortable and get their votes that way. (With so many contestants on shows like this trying to flirt or barter their way into alliances, I at least have to throw some respect on Eleyna for this lesser-used period angle, and – spoiler alert – it works and she’s given a spot in the villa.)

But advantages are also given to contestants who compete in camp challenges, who are also allowed to vote people off the show entirely. It feels a little odd that so much of the show’s outcome is based around random votes for one another, because the cast thus far hasn’t really built up alliances and they seem unsure of why they would want to vote for certain people to receive advantages, because ultimately, everyone on the show is in this for themselves. That’s part of the strategy, I suppose, but it also feels frustrating and arbitrary as a viewer.

What Shows Will It Remind You Of? The show has elements of Survivor and The Traitors , given the strategic game play and alliances that need to be formed, but it’s also an exact copy of the aforementioned Don’t Hate The Player .

Our Take: It’s hard to know what is the underlying intention of a show like Fight For Paradise . Obviously survival/strategy shows can be addictive, but when you plop a big group of seemingly entitled, appearance-obsessed young adults with no survival skills into the woods and ask them to rough it, does the show become more about Schadenfreude, as if the audience is meant to take pleasure in their discomfort? In many way, it seems like we’re supposed to actively root against some of them for that reason. This cast, perhaps more than most other reality competition casts, feels more stacked with superficial types; models and influencers, self-proclaimed spoiled brats, people who aren’t shy declaring that they want to be famous. Even though one of them will walk away that much richer, it still feels like the joke’s on them.

Ultimately, as their highly primped exteriors are removed over time, we get to see at least some of these people for who they really are, whether they’re truly manipulative and motivated solely by the cash prize, or if they’ve made genuine alliances and seem honest and worthy and deserving of the prize. The audience should know that this is billed as a “social experiment” rather than a reality competition, so maybe that’s the lens we should view it through. Seeing it that way makes it more about the players’ behavior and how it can (or can’t) be justified, considering that they all have the same end goal, it’s just a matter of which personality type and game tactics will help the eventual winner stay in the game the longest.

Sex and Skin: Some of the contestants dress in skimpy attire that is comically inappropriate for roughing it, but so far there’s no sexual chemistry or strategy in play.

Parting Shot: The group stands in a line, having just voted one of their own into a coveted spot in the villa. But there’s a catch. Two of the contestants who successfully completed a camp mission earlier in the episode were given the chance to instantly eliminate another contestant. Bonnie informs the cast that one of them is about to be eliminated just before we cut to the credits.

Performance Worth Watching: Right away, contestant Greta seems like one to watch, because, as a self-proclaimed “boss bitch” who runs her own modeling agency in India at the age of 23, and can’t stop talking about her amazing life, she started making enemies not even five minutes into the show.

Memorable Dialogue: “You will eat nothing but vegetable soup,” Bonnie tells the contestants, who look horrified as they learn that they won’t be living in a luxe mansion during their stay, but a shanty town filled with only vegetable soup.

Our Call: SKIP IT! While the premise is fun, it would feel, I don’t know, maybe more fun if I hadn’t just watch this last week on Don’t Hate The Player . There are some different rules in each show, but unfortunately for this one, they feel a bit arbitrary, whereas Don’t Hate The Player felt like a lot more risk and chance was involved, and the tension was much more real. I wouldn’t typically hold two shows up against one another while reviewing them, but these shows are so similar, that it feels like a disservice not to point out that a slightly more interesting version of this one exists on the very same streaming platform, and is still releasing new episodes.
