ladies us tour

The 2024 US Women's Open final leaderboard is headed by winner Yuka Saso, who topped the LPGA Tour leaderboard this week with a win in the USGA-run major championship at Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Saso won her second US Women's Open at just the age of 22, winning by three shots over Hinako Shibuno on 4-under 276, delivering in the final round with an incredible back nine to charge to her victory.

Ally Ewing shot 66 in the final round to rocket up the leaderboard and finish in tie for third with American Andrea Lee.

Saso won the $2,400,000 winner's share of the $12,000,000 purse.

US Women's Open recap notes

Saso picks up the win in the 13th LPGA Tour event of the season, getting in the winner's circle for the second time in her career and this championship.

By winning the event, Saso earned 650 points in the Race to the CME Globe, with the top 60 players in points getting into the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.

This week, there was a 36-hole cut with 75 players finishing the tournament in the biggest tournament in women's golf. The top 60 players and ties got to the weekend, with four amateurs making the cut.

The 2024 LPGA Tour schedule continues next week with the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

2024 U.S. Women's Open: Facts, player stories, tee times and how to watch

ladies us tour

Here's all you need to know about the 2024 U.S. Women's Open presented by Ally taking place at Lancaster Country Club

It's time for the second women's Major of the season, the U.S. Women's Open Presented by Ally , which comes six weeks after Nelly Korda claimed her second Major and fifth straight win of the year at The Chevron Championship in Texas.

Here's all you need to know and some player stories to look out for at the 79th U.S. Women's Open Presented by Ally.

79th U.S. Women's Open Fast Facts

  • Host:  Lancaster Country Club is hosting its second U.S. Women's Open. The first was held in 2015 where In Gee Chun (currently 75th in the world) won by one shot over Amy Yang.
  • Set-up:  Lancaster Country Club, Old Course, will be set up at 6,629 yards and will play to a par of 35-35 = 70. The yardage for each round of the championship will vary due to course setup and conditions.
  • Field:  156 golfers, from 27 countries, will be cut after 36 holes to the low 60 scorers (and ties).
  • Purse:  The 2023 purse was $11 million , the highest purse in women’s golf and among the leaders in all of women’s sports. With the winner receiving $2 million . The 2024 purse is yet to be announced*.
  • Champion:  receives the Mickey Wright Medal, custody of the Harton S. Semple Trophy for a year and an exemption from qualifying for the next 10 U.S. Women’s Open Championships and an exemption from qualifying for the next five ANA Inspirations, AIG Women's Opens, KPMG Women's PGA Championships and Amundi Evian Championships.
  • Current champion: Allisen Corpuz, 25, of Kapolei, Hawaii, shot a final-round 69 for a 72-hole score of nine-under-par 279 to claim the 78th edition of the U.S. Women’s Open by three shots over England's Charley Hull and Korea's Jiyai Shin. Corpuz became the first American since Brittany Lang in 2016 to hoist the Harton S. Semple Trophy and only the seventh in the last 23 years. She also joined a long list of players to make the U.S. Women’s Open their first win on the LPGA Tour, a group that includes World Golf Hall of Famers Annika Sorenstam and Laura Davies. Corpuz, who was the lone player in the field to post all four rounds under par, was stellar on the greens, registering 10 one-putts over the final 18 holes.

*It was announced on February 1 that the USGA had partnered with Ally Financial which meant that Ally became the official retail banking partner of the USGA, the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open, and the new presenting partner for the U.S. Women’s Open. It was also stated that the purse for the U.S. Women's Open would be elevated to $12 million.

About Lancaster Country Club, Old Course

Designed by William Flynn, the Old Course at Lancaster Country Club opened in 1920. Lancaster has three nine-hole courses, including Meadowcreek, Dogwood and the Highlands. The Old Course is comprised of the Meadowcreek and Dogwood nines. A course restoration was completed in 2007, under the guidance of Ron Forse and Jim Nagle.

Player stories of the week

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS - APRIL 23: Lilia Vu of the United States celebrates with the trophy after winning in a one-hole playoff during the final round of The Chevron Championship at The Club at Carlton Woods on April 23, 2023 in The Woodlands, Texas. (Photo by Carmen Mandato/Getty Images)

Before even taking a tee shot, Lilia Vu had to withdraw from her defence of The Chevron Championship six weeks ago. At the time she took to her social media channels to explain:

"I am so sorry to have to withdraw from The Chevron Championship, as I was really looking forward to defending my first Major title. I have been dealing with a back injury for a while now. Some days are better than others, and today was unfortunately not a good day. During my normal warm-up routine, I had severe discomfort in my back and I felt that I could not compete up to my standards and made the decision to withdraw from the tournament ahead of my tee time. I am planning to return home to see my doctors immediately to determine the best appropriate next steps.

"I want to thank everyone at Chevron for their support and understanding. I am so proud to be a Chevron champion and can't wait to get back next year. Thank you as well to the fans and volunteers at the course - you are in for a wonderful four days."

Whilst nothing official has been said, Vu's name is not on the start sheet for this week and she is yet to play in any tournament since withdrawing from the first Major of the season.

Field finalised

On Monday, May 27, The USGA announced that four additional players had earned full exemptions into the 79th U.S. Women’s Open Championship Presented by Ally, bringing the number of fully exempt players to 87. Additionally, four alternates from qualifying were added to complete the 156-player field.

Lauren Coughlin, 31, of Charlottesville, Va., Esther Henseleit, 25, of Germany, Gabriela Ruffels, 24, of Australia, and Rio Takeda, 21, of Japan, earned an exemption based on the current Rolex Rankings. Henseleit will play in her third U.S. Women’s Open. Takeda and Coughlin will be making their first starts in the championship. Ruffels, who made it into the field previously through qualifying, will play in her fifth U.S. Women’s Open. Ruffels’ spot goes to the first alternate from her qualifying site, giving England's Harriet Lynch, 23, her first start in the championship.

The USGA held eight spots in the field for those players who could potentially qualify by moving into the top 75 of the Rolex Rankings, as of May 27. Since Coughlin, Henseleit, Ruffels and Takeda were the only players to earn an exemption, four alternates from qualifying were added to the field. They are Sarah Kemp, Agathe Laisne, Amelia Lewis and Stephanie Meadow. View the full field here .

It's safe to say that the name on most people's lips will be the World Number one Nelly Korda, just like it was Scottie Scheffler two weeks ago at the PGA Championship.

The American has had six wins in eight starts this season and comes into this after winning the Mizuho Americas Open on May 19. The idea of a seventh win almost seems unbelievable but after securing the first Major of the season, she showed just how well she can cope under the biggest amount of pressure.

The rest of the field will be chasing her and there is no doubt that if she does win, it won't be without a fight from others.

Who may bring the fight? Charley Hull fans will be hoping for a similar performance to last year at Pebble Beach, where she put on a ball striking show and produced one of the most compelling final round charges in U.S. Women's Open history.

If it weren't for Korda, Australian Hannah Green would have been capturing more headlines. The 27-year-old pushed Korda right until the final putt at the Mizuho Americas Open as she went in search of her third title of the season. Having now moved up to fourth in the world, you can be sure that she'll be ready to do battle with Korda again this week.

Will Allisen Corpuz defend her title? The American hasn't been having the best season but to be honest, you wouldn't have predicted her winning last year's U.S. Women's Open. We will wait to see what she says in her press conference.

In conclusion, it's hard to look past Korda but we're not fully convinced she'll be lifting the trophy on Sunday.

2024 Travelers Championship purse, prize money: Payouts for Scottie Scheffler, field from $20 million pool

The most lucrative season in pga tour history continued at tpc river highlands.

Travelers Championship - Round One

The 2024 Travelers Championship this week marked the last of eight huge-money signature events for the PGA Tour this season. Many such tournaments have been of the no-cut variety, like the Travelers Championship, though all of them have offered total purses of $20 million.

It is certainly a good time to be a professional golfer. It is also a good time to be Scottie Scheffler. With over two months left on the season, Scheffler had already set the PGA Tour's all-time earnings record entering the Travelers, breaking his prior record set last year at $21 million.

Scheffler only increased his total Sunday, now sitting at nearly $28 million in take-home pay by emerging victorious at a signature event for a fourth time this season. Combine that with his two other victories, and Scheffler is the first golfer since Tiger Woods in 2009 to win six times in a single PGA Tour season.

Here are your eight winners from signature events this season:

  • The Sentry: Chris Kirk ($3.6 million)
  • Pebble Beach Pro Am: Wyndham Clark ($3.6 million)
  • Genesis Invitational: Hideki Matsuyama ($4 million)
  • Arnold Palmer Invitational: Scottie Scheffler ($4 million)
  • RBC Heritage: Scottie Scheffler ($3.6 million)
  • Wells Fargo Championship: Rory McIlroy ($3.6 million)
  • The Memorial Tournament: Scottie Scheffler ($4 million)
  • Travelers Championship: Scottie Scheffler ($3.6 million)

This week's $20 million purse was split between 71 players. There were supposed to be 72 golfers in the field, but following his heartbreaking loss at the U.S. Open a week ago, Rory McIlroy withdrew from the event earlier in the week. McIlroy will next be seen when he returns to the Scottish Open as the reigning champion this July.

Let's take a look at the payout list for the 71 players who will be in attendance at the 2024 Travelers Championship.

Sport American Lexi Thompson leads Women's PGA Championship by a shot in her final year on tour

A golfer looks over her shoulder and raises a hand to the crowd after holing a putt at a major tournament.

Retiring star Lexi Thompson and world number one Nelly Korda are the players to catch on a star-studded first-round leaderboard at the Women's PGA Championship in Washington.

In-form world number five and 2019 PGA champion Hannah Green is the best-placed Australian, three shots off the pace in pursuit of a second major championship after opening with a 1-under-par 71.

But Thompson, seemingly with the weight of the world off her shoulders after her recent announcement she was stepping away from the game at season's end, and Korda — ominously — look the players to beat.

Joint runner-up in a play-off at last week's LPGA Meijer Classic, Thompson continued her surprising resurgence with a 4-under 68 to claim the outright first-round lead at Sahalee Country Club.

The 29-year-old could see the inevitable question coming after collecting six birdies and briefly hitting 5-under before settling for a one-shot buffer over Korda and Thailand's Patty Tavatanakit.

Would a major title change her plans about retiring from playing full-time on the LPGA Tour?

"I'm just taking it one day at a time. I made my announcement. I'm very content with it," Thompson said after starting with three straight birdies and adding three more on the ninth, 12th and 14th holes.

"Golf is a crazy game, so I'm not going to look too far ahead."

The 2014 Chevron Championship winner claimed the most recent of her 11 LPGA Tour titles in June 2019, while Thursday's 68 was Thompson's lowest round in a major since a 67 at the 2022 Women's PGA at Congressional.

"My approach shots felt great," Thompson said. "They felt really good last week, so just trying to simplify things and get in a rhythm with my swing."

Korda shot 69 in the morning, and Tavatanakit matched it in the afternoon with a bogey-free round.

After missing the cut at her past two events, including the US Open, Korda birdied her final hole to show the form that led the American to a record-tying five straight victories earlier in the year.

She started on the back nine and made four birdies in her first five holes.

A double bogey on the par-4 fourth dropped her back to two under.

"If you try and be aggressive when you've hit it off line, it just bites you in the butt," Korda said.

"Overall I think I played pretty well. I took my chances where I could and I played safe the majority of the round."

Eleven players, including major winners Allisen Corpuz and Frenchwoman Celine Boutier, share fourth at 2-under, with Green in equal 15th spot with defending champion Ruoning Yin of China.

Like Korda, Green started on the back nine and birdied her first two holes to set the early pace.

Three mid-round bogeys seemed to stall her momentum before she picked up a third birdie on her last hole of the round, the par-3 ninth after a lovely tee shot.

Grace Kim, who also featured in last week's play-off loss to world number two Lilia Vu, is the next-best Australian at 1-over.

Minjee Lee, Steph Kyriacou and Gabriela Ruffels all opened with 2-over 74s.

Sarah Kemp and Robyn Choi each shot 75, while Hira Naveed needs a miracle to make the cut after starting with a 10-over 82.
