Fin Greenall is an enthusiast. Rather more so than you might expect, in fact, from someone with more than ten albums under their belt.

This is someone who's lived a life-and-a-half of hard graft and hard gigging in electronic, acoustic and even pop music already - that enthusiasm bubbles like someone half his age discovering the buzz of musical and cultural engagement for the first time.

Starting his musical life as an electronic producer and DJ, Fink’s first album Fresh Produce emerged in 2000 on the Ninja Tune label. After switching to guitar and mastering the craft of songwriting, including an early collaboration with fledgling singer Amy Winehouse, Fink became a band in 2006 with the addition of Tim Thornton on drums and Guy Whittaker on bass.

Greenall recorded, engineered and produced the trio’s first album Biscuits for Breakfast in his Brighton loft. Distance and Time followed in 2007, produced by Andy Barlow (Lamb, U2), leading to numerous film and advertisement placements as well as extensive worldwide tours. Perfect Darkness (2011), produced by Billy Bush (Beck, Garbage), led to Fink’s invitation to perform with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. This concert was released as a live album in 2013, and the version of "Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us" from the record was used by Ava DuVernay in her Oscar nominated film Selma. In the same year, Justin Vernon & Colin Stetson teamed up to remix “Warm Shadow,” which was prominently featured in AMC’s The Walking Dead.

The studio album Hard Believer released in 2014, courtesy of Fink’s Ninja Tune sub-label R’COUP’D, included the hit "Looking Too Closely" which has over 30 licenses to TV and film, and over 105 million plays on Spotify. 2017 marked the beginning of Fink’s collaboration with Flood (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Warpaint, U2) as a producer and mentor, culminating in the release of both the blues side project Fink’s Sunday Night Blues Club, Vol.1, and the full-band albums Resurgam (2017) and Bloom Innocent (2019). Fink was now a stalwart of the indie scene, with a worldwide fanbase whose loyalty is unparalleled.

Returning in 2024 with the single “What Would You Call Yourself”, Greenall, together with his longtime collaborators, will release Beauty In Your Wake on 5 July, an album very much seen as a creative rebirth. It is the first record to be co-produced and recorded by Sam Okell at his new Zennor Sounds studio (Sam won a Grammy for his role in remastering the entire Beatles catalogue at Abbey Rd). After a smattering of festivals, Fink’s full European tour begins in August 2024.

Live reviews

Great concert of Fink in Madrid on November the 5th, 2017. The Barcelo theater completed its capacity. There was a very good atmosphere, with a very varied audience in age and style. The concert took a while to begin, with an introductory video about the music recording history that lasted too long. There were some whistles from the public, impatient to hear Fink and his band. Finally, Fink trio accompanied with two more musicians came on stage between ovations. A good staging with an excellent game of lighting and smoke on the stage that provided the right intimate atmosphere for Fink's hypnotic music. The five musicians played two batteries, 12 guitars and a keyboard throughout the concert to review the classic themes of Fink in addition to presenting their latest songs. The personal voice of Fin Greenall is framed and highlighted by these excellent musicians. The band's drummer Tim Thornton is especially notable for its versatility and musical abilities, and bass Guy Whittaker displays lots of mastery and sympathy. All have a great stage presence and personality. The audience was enthusiastic, chanting and accompanying songs with slaps. The band looked very comfortable on stage, really enjoying the good atmosphere of the concert. There were two encores and the audience was very satisfied. In one of his interventions, all in English, Fink promised to return to Madrid.

Being part of a Fink’ gig is not simply watching some guys playing music. It’s an experience far beyond that.

With just a Spanish guitar and his terrific voice, Fin Greenall will take you on a musical journey that goes from dim bluesy atmospheres to heart-warming acoustic tunes; this with the enthralling company of a talented drummer (Guy Whittaker) and bassist (Tim Thornton).

As for me, Fink’s concert was a rollercoaster of emotions: I woke up joyful with Biscuits for breakfast, perceived an ancestral strength through Fear Is Like Fire, discovered something new about myself with Make It Good, felt funky with the fresh Hard Believer, and suddenly it was over with the melancholic notes of Warm Shadow. Nevertheless, there is no need to worry because Nothing Is Ever Finished. As Greenall’s musical career that began when his unique voice and the technical ability of his friends Guy and Tim convinced the electronic-oriented Ninja Tune label to start the Indie-Rock project that started it all.

Fink is now a re-newed band that just released their 6th Album, Hard Believer and they are ready to present it to the world with a full summer schedule, so don’t miss this opportunity to see them live.

Cornish singer/songwriter Fin Greenall better known by his stage name Fink can boast to having tried a huge array of genres before settling on his preferred style. Over his career that now spans over fifteen years Fink has dabbled in blues, dub, electro, folk and indie. His 2006 album 'Biscuits For Breakfast' saw him pitch a flag in the ground of the indie territory and since then has allowed Fink to refer to the collective touring trio of himself along with Tim Thornton and Guy Whittaker.

The group has a cult like following for their sound and the albums have taken them around the world many times. The stage show still remains purposefully stripped back, featuring the three musicians jamming to the indie/folk stylings of 'Yesterday Was Hard on All of Us'. The lyrical content appears to have resonated with the audience who sing back choruses in force much to the surprise and bemusement of Fin himself. The moderately successful 'This Is The Thing' receives a small amount of whoops from the crowd yet it is the closer of 'Berlin Sunrise' that really blows the crowd away and receives a round of applause that could lift the roof straight off.

It was the first time that I listened and watched Fink live on stage.

On purpose I went to Amsterdam and watched them live. It was an incredible experience.

Acoustically, the venue was superb as well. Obviously the sound engineer knew what he was doing. The sound was perfect.

The gates opened at 6:30 p.m. and it was a good idea waiting at the door so that we could get the front seats. At 8:00 p.m. Sophie Hunger (Swiss singer songwriter living in Berlin) was on stage because she was the support musician for Fink. Sophie Hunger and her drum player friend was just fantastic on their 40 minutes performance. Her guitar playing technique, lyrics, her voice, the overall sound was stunning. I wish this performance lasted longer.

I haven't seen the electric guitar, violin and keyboard player (just one guy playing all) before playing with Fink. He was a real Swiss Knife. He added a certain value to the band. Great musician...

Stage lighting design, acoustics and sound were all spotless.

Congratulations to all Fink members, AFAS Live as the venue, and all the staff for creating such a beauty.

This is my first review on this website despite having been to many shows recently. I feel the need to write this because seeing Fink left such an incredible impression on me that I just have to share this with others.

I was expecting Fink to be good as I enjoyed listening Fin's music, especially the acoustic guitar pieces. But this live show was just... incredible. It went above and beyond all of my expectations. To me, there are certain musicians who can create such an immersive experience with their live shows that they can simply transport you to a different dimension. They create an almost otherwordly atmosphere in which you can lose yourself in if you really allow yourself to.

I know the above sounds really trippy but this is the only way I can begin to describe this experience. Other artists who have created a similar atmosphere for me have been Eddie Vedder, Glen Hansard, Mark Lanegan, U2 and Rodrigo & Gabriela.

I basically can't recommend going to a live Fink show enough. This was my first one and I will now try to see him every chance I get. This was pure magic.

Incredible! Simply incredible! I saw both California shows this weekend, both were stellar. I've been closely following this band for a few years I had yet to see them until now. If you're familiar with fink you will know how clean and crisp they are, live is even more so. These guys are razor sharp! The selfish part of me wants them to keep playing the smaller venues, but these guys deserve to be heard by way more folks than can fit in any of these.

The bottom line is if you enjoy live music you need to do yourself a favor and check these guys out. If you need a preview check out the live studio series 2 Meter Sessies or the current album cuts in the KCRW studios in LA. Both series can be found on Youtube.

What an Awesome show! Fin played a really good mix of old-new material and all by himself on an acoustic and I can’t believe how close to him we were in the City Winery Venue and the Sound quality is just amazing in that room! Even the bathrooms sound really good!

I have to say I would want to see anyone of interest in this place just an amazing venue and Fink at the helm it was just an amazing night!

And then Fin came out and met everyone who stayed, signed autographs and took the time to talk with everyone what great musician ,hope he does it again soon!

The Jazz Cafe (Camden) was the perfect venue to see this band; an intimate small space with a great view. As to the performance, Fink were spectacular on all levels. Blues with an edge, Finn did say what was a white man from Cornwall doing singing the blues? Well, he pulled it off in his own unique stlye. The band were faultless, great rythmn and musicianship, jamming through a few songs and above all looking as though they were enjoying every moment. What a treat!

Their show in Vienna was simply great! However I didn't quite get the 'support' act - a video showing you through music history, I suppose. To be fair, I didn't really pay attention, as I was talking to my friends. As soon as the actual show started though, all eyes were on the band. The lead singer's voice accompanied by intense guitar tunes and base drums filled the whole room. One song better than the last they really just delivered!

Fink, keep going!

Brilliant concert.

A cd can never capture the feeling of being there, being in the moment.

Excellent musicians, all of them, especially the drummer and the bass player.

"Fink himself" is a great singer and performer, with tenderness and roughness in his voice and guitarplaying.

I'm happy to have been there!

Fin Greenall aka Fink started as a DJ/Producer before making guitar-based folk/blues/indie music. Growing up in Bristol’s blossoming 90’s scene, Greenall signed to legendary label Kickin’ Records in 1994 and subsequently signed with Ninja Tune in 1997, releasing the critically acclaimed Fresh Produce in 2000 and DJ’ing worldwide.

A renowned and prolific artist, Fink has worked with notable musicians, including Amy Winehouse. He wrote and recorded her earliest demos and songs, a fact revealed on her posthumous record Lioness. Fink’s Sort of Revolution featured a collaboration with John Legend on “Maker”, after Fink had co-written 2 tracks on Legend’s album Evolver, leading to 3 prestigious BMI awards.

In 2006, Fink became a band with the addition of Tim Thornton on drums and Guy Whittaker on bass, and recorded, engineered and produced Biscuits for Breakfast in his Brighton loft. This concert was released as a live album in 2013, and the version of „Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us“ from the record was used by Ava DuVernay in her Oscar nominated film Selma. In the same year, Justin Vernon & Colin Stetson teamed together to remix “Warm Shadow,” which was later prominently featured in AMC’s The Walking Dead.

The studio album Hard Believer released in 2014, courtesy of Fink’s Ninja Tune sub-label R’COUP’D, included the hit „Looking Too Closely“ which has over 30 licenses to TV and Film, and over 45 million plays on Spotify. 2017 marked the beginning of his collaboration with Flood (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Warpaint, U2) as a producer and mentor, culminating in the release of both his Blues side project Fink’s Sunday Night Blues Club, Vol.1. Colin Stetson once again collaborated with Fink on “She Was Right”, a stand out track from the collection. Resurgam, the 2017 album by Fink, was recorded and produced by Flood in his Assault & Battery studios in London. September 2019 saw the release of Bloom Innocent, another Flood-produced gravity-defying, sky-scraping, stars-reaching sound of a man on a mission. This was followed by 2021’s career retrospective acoustic album and book, IIUII (It Isn’t Until It Is), a document of the first ten years of Fink from 2006-16 – „that whole arc, from my bedroom to having a proper hit, playing the big festival stages with big production, and all the rest.“

Fink returns to the stages in a big way in 2024, and with new music? We shall see….

Michigan high school choir to sing with Foreigner during band’s final worldwide tour

HUDSONVILLE, MI – A Michigan high school choir has been invited to sing on stage with Foreigner when the iconic ‘80s rock band performs in Grand Rapids as part of its final worldwide tour .

Hudsonville High School’s top choral ensemble, Varsity Voices, will perform with Foreigner at the band’s Tuesday, June 11 concert at Van Andel Area. The students will join the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees on stage to close out its set with the hit 1984 song, “I Want to Know What Love Is.”

The choir of 25 high schoolers won a contest hosted last month by WGRD radio station , which offered one West Michigan choir a chance to perform with Foreigner during its Grand Rapids concert. Five local school choirs entered the contest, and Hudsonville won over 50% of the vote, said choir director Deb Andre.

Related : Talking with Foreigner frontman Kelly Hansen as the band bids adieu to touring

Hudsonville junior Ella Neifert, 17, said she is honored to be able to perform alongside Foreigner, describing the show as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. With Van Andel Arena having a capacity for over 12,000 people, the concert will be the biggest crowd Neifert has ever performed in front of, she said.

“It’s kind of crazy, getting to go on stage with this group that’s very prevalent, a group that when I say, ‘My choir is gonna be singing with Foreigner,’ people are like, ‘Whoa,’ and they actually know who that is,” the 17-year-old said. “It’s incredible to be on the stage with someone me and a lot of my choir friends idolize as well, as performers.”

Andre said the choir learned “I Want To Know What Love Is” for its audition in three rehearsals and recorded its winning audition video in just one take. While Foreigner was topping music charts five decades ago, Andre said she was amazed that the band’s music still resonates with teens today.

“The kids were surprisingly familiar with their music,” Andre told MLive/The Grand Rapids Press. “They knew the song and they had heard other songs... One of my kids was even able to sing like, word-for-word with some of their other songs.”

The entire Hudsonville school community quickly rallied to help Varsity Voices win the WGRD contest, with hundreds of students, teachers and parents casting their votes and sharing the poll on social media, Andre said.

Teachers were showing the choir’s audition video during class at school, with some even making it an assignment for students to vote for the choir in the contest, she said.

“To see the kids at school rally around the choir has been so heartwarming, and such a lift not just for this choir that is singing but for all the choir kids,” Andre said.

Andre said Hudsonville won the contest in a “landslide,” receiving over half of the nearly 8,000 total votes cast. The four other schools that entered the contest were Allendale High School Choirs, Grand Rapids Public Museum Advanced Choir Small Ensemble, Milwood Middle School and Hastings High School Varsity Singers.

Varsity Voices will have a crowd of their own fans at Tuesday’s show, Andre said. Nearly every teacher and staff member from Hudsonville High School has bought a ticket to attend the show, and many will be wearing matching t-shirts with the choir to show their support, she said.

“I think that this feels like a giant hug from the community and the school, and we just appreciate our staff and our students and our community and our parents for rallying around us for cheering us on, and this opportunity wouldn’t be possible without them,” Andre said.

Foreigner has welcomed other high school choirs at concerts to sing “I Want to Know What Love is” at recent tour stops as part of its ongoing tour. Selected choirs also receive $500 from the band to use as they wish.

Andre said she is going to use the $500 reward to take the choir out for dinner and karaoke this summer, to celebrate one last time as a group with this year’s graduating seniors.

“We’re all part of each other’s family, and so when they leave it’s hard to let them go, and to have this be a culminating event for us is really special,” she said.

Varsity Voices will arrive early to Van Andel Arena on Tuesday for a soundcheck, and then the students will sit in the audience for the concert until its their chance to perform. The choir will come on stage to sing the second-to-last song in Foreigner’s set, and then Styx will perform for the second half of the concert.

Foreigner is currently touring with Styx as part of its final worldwide tour, which kicked off in 2023. While this is the final touring curtain call for one of the biggest rock bands of the last five decades, Foreigner frontman Kelly Hansen said the band will continue to do limited concert appearances from time to time.

“The plan was a two year farewell tour and the plan was not to disappear off the face of the earth,” Hansen recently told MLive . “The plan was just to not tour nine months out of the year anymore and have much more limited appearances.”

You can still buy tickets to see Foreigner and Styx at Van Andel on Tuesday. Tickets can be purchased at the Van Andel box office or online at Ticketmaster.com. John Waite is opening the show.

The two bands are also performing another Michigan show at Pine Knob on Saturday, June 15. You can find tickets here .

Alan Jackson is retiring. Here’s the list of country music legends saying farewell this year

The country music world is losing another legendary act as Alan Jackson revealed recently that he is heading out on his farewell tour.

He is one of a handful of performers who have let fans know that they are either calling it quits in 2024 or are, at the very least, considerably tapering down their schedule.

The following is a quick look at all of those acts who have announced his year that they are winding things down:

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

The legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band also announced that it is tapering down its schedule.

In a social media post earlier this year the band announced that it is embarking on a farewell tour, entitled “All The Good Times.”

For fans of the band, though, there is still hope to see them.

“This isn’t goodbye forever,” the band’s post on X, former Twitter, stated in closing. “But it will be the last fans see of multi-city runs and long bus rides.”

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has been performing and touring for nearly six decades.

The three-time Grammy-winning band formed in 1966. The current iteration of the band includes Bob Carpenter, Jimmie Fadden, Jaime Hanna, Jeff Hanna, Ross Holmes and Jim Photoglo.

Jeff Hanna and Fadden have been with the band since the beginning. No surprise considering its longevity, there is a long list of past members as well.

The band’s first big break came in 1970 with “Mr. Bojangles,” and they have produced 25 albums through the years.

“‘All The Good Times’ perfectly describes our career,” the band said in a statement on its website. “Playing our music for Dirt band fans all over the world has been an incredible experience for us. The most important part of that has been the connection to our audience — that beautiful communal give and take is like nothing else. That’s the very spirit we’ll be celebrating as we head into our farewell tour. We’re really looking forward to seeing you folks. Good times will be had by all!”

Oak Ridge Boys singer Joe Bonsall also announced to start the year that a debilitating medical condition is forcing him to retire from touring.

The 75-year-old has reportedly been battling a neuromuscular disorder which prompted him to announce last week that he was retiring from touring.

“I am now at a point where walking is impossible, so I have basically retired from the road,” he reportedly said. “It has just gotten too difficult. It has been a great 50 years, and I am thankful to all the Oak Ridge Boys band crew and staff for the constant love and support shown to me through it all. I will never forget, and for those of you have been constantly holding me up in prayer, I think you and ask for you to keep on praying.”

While Bonsall steps away the group continued its Farewell Tour with 27-year-old Ben James taking his spot.

“There is a young man named Ben James singing for me out there, and he needs your love and encouragement,” Bosnall reportedly said in his statement. “His sound is different than mine, but he brings a ton of talent to the table! The Oak Ridge Boys will finish the Farewell Tour without me, but rest assured, I am good with all of it! God’s Got It!!!” The tour is slated for a stop in Lancaster on March 16 and March 17 at the American Music Theater.

Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson announced in late May that he was planning on wrapping up his career, and in early June he opened up about why that is.

The 65-year-old delivered the message to his fans via a video posted to his X , formerly Twitter, account.

“I’ve been touring for over 30 years, you know, played everywhere in the country and parts of the world,” Jackson said. “Have had a wonderful career, and getting into my twilight years, and all my daughters are grown, and I got one grandchild and one on the way. Enjoy spending more time at home, and don’t want to be away like I had to be in my younger days, and I don’t tour as much now as I did 10 years ago. But I think it’s getting time to start thinking about hanging it up full-time.” The tour, which is called “Last Call: One More for the Road,” is slated to begin on Aug. 2 and currently has 10 dates running through May 17, 2025.

Jackson revealed in 2021 that he has Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a chronic neuropathy condition that effects a person’s balance and ability to walk. He also addressed that in the video posted to his account.

“Most of my fans know I have a degenerative health condition that effects my legs and arms and my mobility that I got from my daddy and it’s getting worse,” he said. “So, it makes me more uncomfortable on stage, and I just have a hard time, and I just want to think about maybe calling it quits before I’m unable to do the job like I want to.”

John Michael Montgomery

John Michael Montgomery got a jump on 2024 by taking to Facebook to let his fans know that he was heading out on a farewell tour.

“I have decided to wind down my touring career over this year and 2025,” the 58-year-old wrote. “It’s been a wonderful run for me from the beginning over 30 years ago in 1992 when my first song ‘Life’s A Dance’ was released to radio.”

The singer’s first three albums, 1992′s “Life’s A Dance,” 1994′s “Kickin’ It Up,” and 1995′s “John Michael Montgomery,” were all reportedly mutli-platinum selling albums. And he has reportedly sold more than 16 million albums in his career.

His Billboard number-one hits include: “I Love the Way You Love Me,” “I Swear,” and “I Can Love You Like That.”

Good news for fans of the artist is that while it sounds as though he is all but wrapping up his time on the road, he reportedly hasn’t ruled out the occasional appearance and it doesn’t sound like he is completely walking away from making music.

· Country music legend’s home facing demolition might still be saved

“I’m sure there will be some situations where I just need to do a show here and there because I’ll miss that too much,” he reportedly said in a statement. “But I just feel the time has come to say goodbye to the road life.”

The singer said in his Facebook post that he has been “fortunate and blessed to be able to do what I love for so many years.”

“Please join me on my journey as I say goodbye to the road life,” he wrote. “And thanks so much for your support for the last 3 decades, it’s meant so much to me.”

Ray Stevens

Ray Stevens announced in January that he is ready to slow down and smell the roses.

Not exactly a surprise because the guy is 85, but you still hate to see him go.

The Country Music Hall of Famer is planning to make 2024 his last full year of performing live.

It’s not being called a farewell or a full stepping away, but instead in a story in The Tennessean it is being referred to as a slow-down.

“I’ve always been in the music business, since I was 15-years-old, and I’ve traveled all over the world, played shows, written, and recorded a lot of successful records,” Stevens told The Tennessean. “And so I was tired.”

Stevens has been performing at his West Nashville CabaRay Showroom, which he opened in 2018. That venue will reportedly stay open with other performers taking his place after he steps away.

Stevens said he is prioritizing recording when he steps away from the full slate of live performances.

The comedic songwriter and singer has been performing since 1957.

“I’m looking forward to this final year, it’s going to be a good year,” he told The Tennessean. “I’d like to see everybody come out if they can and see the show.”

‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ Cuts Ties With Live Band Amid Budget Cuts

By Tomás Mier

Late Night With Seth Meyers will not feature a live band in its upcoming season. In a new interview with Vulture , 8G Band keyboardist and associate musical director Eli Janney revealed that NBC had cut the live band from a “revamped” Season 12.

“There’s a lot of strong emotions. No one is happy about it,” Janney told the outlet. “Seth has been a big champion of ours from the get-go. They couldn’t have been nicer about it.”

The 8G Band became a permanent part of the show after the Roots left the show with Jimmy Fallon in 2014. At the time, it was fronted by Fred Armisen and comprised of Janney, guitarist Seth Jabour, bassist Syd Butler, and drummer Kimberly Thompson. Armisen rarely appeared on the show, but Butler, Janney, and Jabour would perform nearly every night.

“I’m definitely going to miss it, but I don’t have any animosity towards the show,” he added. “Those guys have been taking care of us over the years in such an outrageous way. During the pandemic, we figured out a way to do it from home, and during the strike, they really took care of us.”

New audio: alito bashes propublica for reporting on supreme court ethics, justice alito caught on tape discussing how battle for america ‘can’t be compromised’, arizona man indicted after planning mass shooting at atlanta concert to incite race war.

According to Vulture , Janney indicated that after the current season, the show would be revamped for budgetary reasons and the live band would be let go. “It’s the reality of broadcast and a shrinking market — streaming eating into this, and YouTube eating into that,” he said. “Streaming is not making money, either. So budgets everywhere have been cut and cut and cut.”

Janney explained that the band will continue “to make music for them” but that they just no longer will be playing live. The group will record some of the walk-on tracks and “update it periodically.” He also said he was unaware of other budget cuts to the show.

Jin from K-pop group BTS finishes military service in South Korea

K-pop megastar Jin , the oldest member of boy band BTS , completed his mandatory military service in South Korea on Wednesday, though the last of his bandmates won’t be discharged and ready to resume their music careers for at least another year.

In an emotional reunion that was livestreamed , Jin, 31, was greeted with flowers by most of his bandmates outside an army base in the northern province of Yeoncheon, where he had served for 18 months. One of them, rapper RM, played part of the group’s 2020 hit single “Dynamite” on a saxophone.

The seven-member supergroup, which debuted in 2013, consists of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, V, Jungkook and Jimin. By 2017, they had broken into the global music market, spearheading the rise of K-pop in the United States.

K-pop megastar Jin from BTS was discharged from his South Korean military service on June 12, AFP reporters saw, the first member of the band to complete the mandatory duty, freeing him up to fully resume musical activities.

That momentum was interrupted by South Korea’s requirement that all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 serve 18 to 21 months in the military or equivalent civilian service. South Korea is still technically at war with North Korea , after the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice rather than a peace treaty.

Exceptionally skilled athletes and artists are sometimes exempted from military service, and supporters had argued that BTS members and other K-pop stars were equally valuable cultural ambassadors for South Korea. Lawmakers disagreed, but they allowed the pop stars to delay enlistment until the age of 30.

BTS Jin Military Service

Jin was the first to enlist in December 2022, followed by J-Hope in April 2023. Suga began alternative military service in September after being sidelined due to what local media said were the effects of shoulder surgery.

The last four — RM, Jimin, Jungkook and V — began their service in December and will be discharged in June 2025, at which point the complete band will be able to reform.

BTS’s management agency, BigHit Music, had urged fans not to visit the army base on the day of Jin’s release, citing concerns about overcrowding. He is expected to attend a fan event in Seoul, the South Korean capital, on Thursday.

In the meantime, a photo posted on X on Wednesday showed the seven members of BTS sitting together, with balloons on the wall behind them spelling out “Jin is back.”
